So to clarify those two are connected?
Like so?

If so, you only need one of those... You just need a cable for USB C to HDMI it looks like.
Correct me if I'm wrong. Cause it looks like you're trying to feed into two inputs here.

The female end on both cards is only for input. So for example, a camera, a X Box, etc.
So something needs to be an output, for there to be an input signal

mortal harbor
#

My phone is connected

#

Usb c

#

Usb a

#

Capture card is usb A

wintry wedge
#

I understand, but if it's connected via USB C or A. the male end of these cards is for output only
So the black capture card going to the computer, needs a input signal from a device that is outputting the signal.

If the output end is connected to your phone, your phone would be receiving a signal. Not outputting the signal unfortunately

mortal harbor
#

So do i need a otg then

#

I do have a OTG ADAPTER TOO

wintry wedge
#

Not familiar with what the is, but maybe? Give it a shot I guess. I'll double check!

mortal harbor
#

I already did still not working

#

I have this one

wintry wedge
#

So you almost have it right. It's honestly just the cable type, so you need a male to male USB C to HDMI. Which then connects to either of the cards you have. In this case, the black one with USB A for the computer. Example can be seen in this ad for a similar card you hvae

hard jay
#

Eh, I mean you don't need that. In theory the setup should be working fine, there shouldn't be a functional difference between a USB to Male or Female HDMI port.

#

It's complexity in required cables, but that's all.

#

It sounds to me just like cheap and unreliable capture devices.

wintry wedge
#

You can corect me where I'm wrong, but last I checked. If something is set solely for input and one for output. That would be an issue.

Cause to me it looks like such
Output < Input
Output < Input

Vs
Output < Input
Input > Output.

Which would connect both card, and transmit the desired signal correctly, no?

hard jay
#

Oh, the device on the phone side is also a capture card.

wintry wedge
#

Exactly, hence just recommneding the Male to Male cable which both cards would need for connections. VS the HDMI to both

hard jay
#

Then yes, that is never going to work. But USB-C to Female HDMI output do exist, heh

#

I thought that's what that one was.

#

so yes, a USB-C to HDMI will hopefully fix the issue.

wintry wedge
#

Well one is USB C to Female HDMI, the silver one. But the other card is a USB A to Female HDMI.
So either way, it would still need to be male to male essential for those to work

#

Thanks for chiming in btw!

mortal harbor
hard jay
#

it wouldn't matter if it's USB-C to male or female, they already have a male/male HDMI cable to use. A USB-C to male HDMI eliminates the need for a standard cable. USB-A or C is more or less irrelevant.

#

on the PC side that is.

wintry wedge
#

Right, but for the phone it's C....

hard jay
#

yes, USB-C to some flavor of HDMI output.

#

that's the required device, heh

#

the less ambigious version of which being the USB-C to Male HDMI

#

USB-C to female HDMI ports as an output exist, but they're rare.

mortal harbor
#

I do have a usb A

hard jay
#

You have two capture cards is the problem

#

You can either either of those to connect to the PC, but you need an HDMI output from the phone.

#

i.e. that USB-C to HDMI cable that Josh linked a picture of.

mortal harbor
hard jay
#

No.

#

That's input again.

#

you want like this

wintry wedge
# hard jay USB-C to female HDMI ports as an output exist, but they're rare.

Total side note, I finally see what you were saying here lol.
I was getting puzzled, cause I thought your weren't noticing that one is USB C to female HDMI.

But what you were saying is, that there are devices just like the above. But the input/output is reversed.
Got it lol. Generally like how most systems have female ports for outputs

hard jay
#

correct.

wintry wedge
#

Yes

hard jay
#

that is probably the exact cable that I linked just under a different brand, heh

mortal harbor
#

wintry wedge

Glad we could get that figured out. Keep us posted if you still have issues, that should cover it!

#

Hmmm... with adv-ss, is there a way to have a macro set to only perform actions on condition change... but always run once at OBS startup, so that the state of what it's controlling is guaranteed to be consistent with the condition's actual state? Since otherwise if the conditional state (say, whether a process is running) changes while OBS isn't running, it won't actually notice.

fervent marsh
#

Best I can tell there's not a way to do "always evaluate this on OBS startup" which is ... irritating.

Hi Guys, hopefully I can get some help

I am working on a Scene for fighting game tourneys, and I would like to know if there is anything that could help me with the following:

I would like to have an Image source dynamically changing depending of a value read from an external .txt file.

So for example, lets say that we are playing street fighter. I can have stored in a txt file a character name. So if the player chooses Ryu and this txt file has "Ryu" written, the image source would open Ryu.png.

The game emulator already does the part of saving a txt file with this info. The issue is how can I use it so OBS would change the image source file...

#

Is there anything that could help me have reach this result?

untold jay
#

!advss @vital zodiac The advanced scene switcher plugin can execute actions based on the context of a text file, use the "If File" condition and "Source Set settings" action.

oblique yewBOT
#

@vital zodiac

You can use powerful macros in OBS Studio using timers, cursor detection, window detection, and more to automate switching between scenes, toggle sources, and many other options.

To get started, install the Advanced Scene Switcher plugin and see the GitHub project wiki to learn how to use it.

Are there any plugins for OBS that collapse long chat messages? My issue is mostly that my bot(s) will often post messages that are a bit long and a few are tied to after someone raids in. I don't want to miss out on messages from real people, but don't want to see a chat message that is less for me.

#

May be nice to have for really long chat messages that may just be copy pastes/repeats so I can collapse the chat down to be able to pay attention to more unique messages.

also because you can now include audio with a game or window capture source, there isn't really much benefit to the plugin even if it did not have the issues I mentioned.

hallow vale
#

Ope, I blame Discord jumping on me LOL

wintry wedge
#

@mortal harbor @hallow vale interesting, first I'm hearing of it having issues? I just know it was recommended cause it worked better, than the native beta we have.

I guess if they're capturing the application that way, then that should be fine too. My assumption is they just want to use the audio.

One benefit from my knowledge is for multiple game sources. So that's why I use it. Instead creating multiple audio captures or needing to pick a new source each time. I can just set them all to one. Which could also be used for multi music players, etc.

But I'll keep what you guys have said in mind! Thanks for the heads up!

mortal harbor
#

we would recommend using a single game capture with hotkey mode to switch between games, then including audio with this one source.

#

!hotkeymode for reference

oblique yewBOT
#

Game capture sources allow you to use a hotkey mode to capture the currently active window, allowing you to use one game capture source for all of your games and even allowing you to switch games easily. To activate this mode:

  1. Open the game capture source's properties. (You can do this by double clicking on the source in the sources list)
  2. Change the game capture's Mode to "Capture foreground window with hotkey"
  3. In Settings > Hotkeys, set up a hotkey for "Capture foreground window".

untold jay

@fluid island If you're asking whether the source record plugin would yield better or worse performance compared to running a second copy of obs-studio, the difference is probably negligible either way. Unlesss you're dealing with sources that can only be captured exactly once (game capture, video capture device) and have to be shared using spout2 - in that case source record is likely better.

Let me try it here: Last week i installed a plugin called: VB-Audio Virtual Cable, Not sure if anyone is known with this one but it basically connects the OBS plug-ins with Discord so you got the same smooth voice, However 2 days later on my live stream i noticed i could not hear my Media source audio nor my viewers could, Anyone has an idea what this could be? The Audio meter is doing its thing and i did not changed anything to the Media Source settings at all.

If you need some additional info or screenshots please let me know!

wintry wedge
wintry wedge
#

Another useful thing to have for monitoring your audio while live btw, is using the Audio Monitoir plugin. I use it often to quickly check what the stream hears. Especially for my mic, and music!

simple meadow
#

Thank you for the info, Turning on the Low latency poorly enough did not fixed me hearing the Media source, however i seen that after messing around i had to set the Media source back to '' Monitor and Output'' and now when i record i can hear the Media Source back, That is 1 thing fixed, ( I have been messing around so much with options and things before) How ever i cannot hear it live when i change the scene to Media Source

#

This is how it looks atm

#

Oke i discovered something, If i set the Monitoring Device back to Default its working as normal, so its the Cable Plugin because once i set that it shuts off the sound

mortal harbor
#

Yes that is expected, you need to monitor the audio to a device you can hear otherwise you won’t….well, hear it.

simple meadow
#

The problem is that i am not an audio knowledge person so often i am not even sure what to do or what i should be doing right now, I'am stuck with a broken system that i only seem to have lol

wintry wedge
#

Set the main monitor to your headphones, and use VB Cable as a monitor filter on the device or devices you wanna output to Discord!
That way you can hear it if you want, and shouldnt have to worry as much

#

Turning of low latency should at least help the stream though. That items shouldnt cut out. Also as long as things are set to Monitor or Monitor and Output, it should work

simple meadow
#

Ill guess this is step 1?

#

its my headset

wintry wedge
#

Yeah that should be fine! As long as you want to hear everything! If not. Set it to your monitor or something without speakers. Then use the Audio Monitor plugin as a filter on sources you want to hear in your headphones, then other ones where you might want to hear in your speakers.

But if you just want one source, that should be totally fine!

simple meadow
#

ow man now i hear my mic lol

wintry wedge
#

lmao

simple meadow
#

The thing here is i dont know all option location

#

i just need to hear my Media source like i used to for a year and i need my mic to link to discord so the sound aint off

#

i dont need to hear myself

#

this is really stressing me out because today i trow away already 30 min of footage because my mic wasnt working wile indicating it was working

mortal harbor
#

it is pretty simple to fix, change your mic to "monitor off" in edit>advanced audio properties

#

you shouldn't need to monitor your mic to VB cable for it to be heard in discord anyways.

simple meadow
#

but then it wont work on the cable plugin?

wintry wedge
#

No worries. So where your at is fine. For your mic, you can set it to monitor. Just not Monitor and Output. That way it shouldnt be heard by you.

Ah. Well if you want o do it that way, your wan't you main set of audio set to something with no speakers I think. Then use the Audio Monitor Plugin and set it to the VB Cable as a monitor source

wintry wedge
mortal harbor
#

I am confidently correct here

simple meadow
mortal harbor
#

I am not going to watch that, but it is easy to just explain the correct way to do this since you already have it mostly setup

#

is your goal to share your OBS window + audio in a discord stream?

#

or are you just trying to use filters from your mic? if so that is different and I misunderstood

simple meadow
#

I stream on youtube but sometimes i use Discord for multiplayer voicechat

mortal harbor
#

what is the reason to route your mic through OBS instead of just using it normally in discord?

simple meadow
#

because my voice sounds wack like i am eating marbles and i installed a VST 2.x Plugin to give a little sprinkle of studio pro effect to it, And discord is pure voice and no good 😦

#

and that cable plugin should take the VST 2.x plugin of OBS to Discord to give that studio effect

mortal harbor
#

hm okay. well either way you can set to mic to monitor off, install audio monitor plugin, and add an audio monitor filter to anything you want sent to VB cable.

#

I don't necessarily agree with the idea of using OBS as a VST host for other software but you can do that I guess.

I have 2 scenes on my scene collection (which contains over 25 scenes) that I'd like to share with a friend. The scenes have assets that I'd need and they also use some plugins. What is the best way to do this so I can pass it on to another person so they can include these 2 scenes in their already existing Scene collection that they already have?

spiral ruin
#

Maybe with the Source Copy plugin. But your friend will have to install the same plugins your scenes use, as well as receive the media files separately.

So could he just put the assets anywhere and then use the 'find missing files' to locate them once he's imported the scenes?

Is anyone familiar with NDI that could offer some knowledge? When I start OBS without the plugin, I get somewhere around 1.5-2 avg time to render frame. With it on, it jumps to 8.5-11ms and I believe it's what's causing my skipped/missed frames that I've been experiencing. The weird part is that I've used NDI for a long time to capture my gameplay from my game pc, however, it wasn't until the past couple of weeks that I've been experiencing issues. Does NDI just naturally increase the avg time by that much? How would I go about lowering this?

So I've been mucking with AI a lot lately and just about have it trained to generate OBS shaders for shaderfilter. It's writing shaders that almost work, following the right semantics and stuff, gave it the Shaderfilter docs reformatted and some other stuff, several hundred working OBS shaders... it's doing pretty good overall but I need to keep working on it. Once I have the process working much smoother I want to see if I can train it to do shadertoy shaders and convert them to OBS. Next will be figuring out multipass shaders in LUA 🙂

#

Had to train it on all the bugs and idiosyncracies of OBS shader parser versus HLSL documentation too, still refining that.

Pretty fun experiment so far. 🙂

# minor coral Is there an alternative ?

It's possible, but none that I am aware of. An alternative approach however, is to install a copy of OBS portable, configure it to portable mode with different settings, and run 2 copies of OBS at the same time. Install the Spout, Teleport or NDI plugins in both installs that allow sharing video between applications, and then add a filter on the source or scene that you want to record, to export it over Spout/teleport/NDI to the second OBS, and record the second video with that. You can run multple copies of OBS like this, and if using NDI they can even be on different computers on a network. Each copy of OBS will put more overhead on the system however, but that can be reduced by disabling the preview window except during setup.

Hello! I'm searching for a way to create a follower goal bar.
Googling has been unhelpful, rediredicting me to either Streamlabs (which seems an alternative to OBS, which I don't want to switch away from), Streamelements (which has only 4 options, all ugly) or Own3d (which is seemingly just broken).
Honestly, it feels like OBS has to have some plugin or somesuch that can help me, possibly without even resorting to any "big names" in stream overlay stuff, but I don't know where to look.

quiet bramble
# subtle goblet Hello! I'm searching for a way to create a follower goal bar. Googling has been ...

The primary 2 top solutions for that are as you've already learned, StreamLabs and StreamElements, both of which can be used as addons to OBS. There are other options out there that are not as common or well known. The Resources section of the OBS forums lists the options that are available to which the provider of those options desired to have their solution listed in an official repository. Anything not listed there is probably not well known or commonly used.

subtle goblet
#

How can I use StreamLabs as an addon to OBS? It keeps redirecting me to the download for StreamLabs Desktop, which is 300MB and that makes me think it's a fully-fledged OBS alternative, not a plugin...

quiet bramble
#

If the available popular or less popular solutions do not meet someone's requirements, other options are to make a custom do-it-yourself solution from scratch, or alternatively to modify an existing solution that is open source to change it as desired. For those that are not developers, another option is to hire someone on Fiverr or other website to implement a custom solution.

#

StreamLabs has a plugin for OBS last I remember.

#

They used to have "Stream Labels" which was a separate program that worked alongside OBS but I think they replaced that with a native OBS plugin in the last year or two. I don't use any of these myself so I haven't kept fully up to date on the latest stuff, but people talk about them here all the time.

Antivirus/antimalware software always has the possibility of generating false positives and negatives, and that comes along with choosing to use it, part of the tradeoff. So from time to time we have to deal with that, and do our due diligence when we get warnings/detections to look into them until we have enough info to feel confident that we're making the correct choice to allow or deny something, and to reconfigure the antimalware software to permit something if necessary. Just comes with using that kind of software as part of doing business.

#

I disable the cloud heuristics part of AV software as I don't like the idea of ANY software on my computer automatically uploading random files on my hard disk into their cloud, especially with the history of hackers breaching virtully every computer system known to man online over time.

#

Once month after patch Tuesday, Microsoft updates Windows to pop up a security warning to me that I'm not submitting things to their cloud and makes me have to click "Dismiss" on 2 security warnings every month like clockwork, which is annoying but hey, if it gives me what I want then it gives me what I want. I need to look into if there is a registry key to disable that rechecking.

Not quite sure what it's supposed to do from the description, but putting a window in a scene by itself and layering other items on top of it in that scene, then using nested scene in another scene, if you move the scene around all the other items in the nested scene will too. Another option is probably some fancy setup with Advanced Scene Switcher, the general Swiss Army Chainsaw of OBS plugins.

Hello, I wanted to ask if anybody in this server had any suggestions for tools that would allow me to control OBS from a laptop that isn't my streaming PC. Essentially I use a PC for gaming/streaming, but sometimes I stream from my kitchen and I have the scenes all setup with remote cameras, but I still need to find the right tool to switch scenes and stuff.

In an ideal world I could just have an identical OBS window on my laptop that's somehow connected to the OBS on my PC but I don't think that's possible. I strongly prefer an option that will let me switch scenes while also showing me the scene I chose so I don't have to open twitch on the laptop (which I can do but it's just a little more annoying than if there was a program/tool that would do it all in one). Any help would be appreciated, thanks so much!

But I just noticed that Source Record and Branch Output do the same thing... With the exception that Source Record has the record mode, path, file name formatting, etc. While Branch Output doesn't but has a status dock for the branch outputs, and recordings.

That's awesome to hear! And definitely can see that lol. I only just started playing around with it, despite having it for a while . So it completely surprised me!

Out of curiosity, and I'm glad you responded. Would it possibly be easy to add a gif generating function or render option? I was recently testing the gif creation LUA someone made, and I'm currently testing something with Streamer Bot for rendering a GIF from a video from Source Record. So I was thinking, maybe it could be useful for generating stream gifs on the fly?

I'm currently looking at uploading the gifs to GIPHY from the API, then using them elsewhere.
I also just currently saw they have a create gif from video option. But I'm not sure how the quality is just yet.

But what do you think?

weak escarp
untold jay
#

@wintry wedge The source record plugin can act as a replay buffer. You could write a script that tells source record to save replay buffer, wait for it to finish, then do..
ffmpeg -i %1 -filter_complex "[0:v]scale=320:-1:flags=lanczos,palettegen[palette]; [0:v]scale=320:-1:flags=lanczos[x]; [x][palette]paletteuse[out]" -map "[out]" %1.gif
..where %1 is the file name. This will produce a GIF scaled to 320 pixels wide, keeping aspect ratio, using palettegen (higher quality than the default palette).

#

don't forget to allow replay buffer to finish savinbg; the "save replay buffer" weksocket command returns "ok" as soon as it's received, not as soon as the file is done writing, and I'd assume the same applies to scripting - perhaps there's a callback for "replay buffer done writing"?

wintry wedge
# weak escarp I would have to look into that. I am not sure how difficult that is to make.

Sounds good! If not no worries. Thanks for responding earlier btw.

@untold jay Noted! I'll have to look into that. Cause currently the LUA I tried earlier uses a script. But definitely looking for a simpler version.
Cause right now I'm testing what I can do with C#, which would use ffmpeg to render the a gif from the video then just upload it to GIPHY.

But I'll definitely consider it, so thank you for mentioning it!

Hey I have a quick question. I've been using the multistream RTMP plugin by SoraYuuki for the longest time now and just noticed it's possible to change the output audio encoders for its targets, but when I go to check my options, I only have get from OBS available with no option for FFMPEG AAC. So far I've been skirting by with Yt by not using stuff that I know I'd get claimed/struck for (though still content IDd of course), but going forward I'd like to be able to just avoid the issue altogether and thus have been trying to figure out how to set it up so I can send the same track the Twitch VOD uses to Yt and other platforms potentially instead.

#

And just to clarify, for whatever reason, be it foresight from initial setup, default hardware, or otherwise, I have already downloaded/installed encoders for HVENC/NVENC and FFMPEG for OBS, but it's only showing for the video and not audio, so I'm not too sure if all I'd need is to just look for an FFMPEG audio encoder download for the program or not, especially since it's likely it probably already exists in OBS in some form since it's typically the program's default encoder.

#

Hi, I need help.
We are currently exploring livestream solutions and have been able to implement a delay in our broadcasts. However, we are facing a challenge: while we can create a delay, we are unable to edit or make adjustments when issues occur during the livestream before it reaches the audience.

We are looking for a solution that would allow us to edit or intervene in the live stream during the delay period, so we can fix or manage any issues in real time before the broadcast goes live to viewers.

Could you please advise if Streamlabs offers any features or plugins that would enable this level of control? We are particularly interested in knowing if there is a way to edit or modify the stream during the delay window to ensure a smoother and more controlled broadcast experience.

untold jay
#

@naive cliff You got your posts backwards, this one was meant for Streamlabs' support channel, and vice versa. But to answer the actual question, yes, it's possible: run 2 copies of obs-studio, use the xObsBeam plugin to send audio and video from the 1st instance to the 2nd instance, then add multiple "render delay" filters to the video, then decide how to delay the audio. I'd use the adelay filter from the obs-ffmpeg-afilter plugin.

#

After that, you'd use the first instance of obs-studio to do the composition, then use the second instance to do streaming, and if something unsafe happens on the stream, you'll have a reasonable amount of time (say, 2000 ms if you use 4 render delay filters) to react and switch scenes.

# unique shell On the first try: display capture recording did not stop after starting the game...

When using a Display Capture or Window Capture source with the "Windows 10 (1903 and up)" method, you will have a yellow border surrounding the portion of the screen being captured. Unfortunately, this border cannot currently be removed on Windows 10.

You can try using another capture method in the source properties, but it's possible this will instead produce a black screen. We automatically disable the yellow border on Windows 11 as Microsoft allows us to.

It is only visible to you, and it will not show up on stream or in recordings.

Hello folks, is it possible to pacakage a dock as a plugin using primarally just the html page to use in an obs-browser dock? I don't mind the idea of coding some glue in C or whatever to load it, but I'm just curious if I can mostly or completely author dock interface using browser parts rather than native OBS UI code.

#

I do not know if I'm using the proper terminology, but I believe I am close enough for asking the question

fossil wyvern
jovial hare
#

it might have more than one file... javascript libraries and such to be bundled with it, and also asking a person to run it by loading it into a directory "somewhere" and then crafting the file:/// url to load it is a little awkward

fossil wyvern
#

can zip the js with it and it's far far simpler than making a whole-ass plugin for it

jovial hare
#

sure, but there was two other steps there

fossil wyvern
#

making the URL is really not that complex at all

jovial hare
#

and also if there's a plugin manager coming soon it would be nice too

fossil wyvern
#

it's coming soon™, but that's soon™

jovial hare
#

I still think the file:/// url is more complication than a typical person knows, especially on windows where filenames might contain spaces or whatever... plugin installation is pretty standard and populates menus with items, possibly multiple

#

and I would really rather pursue a method that is easier for users at the minor cost of me doing some work

#

I'm also not sure if you're implying that it's not possible

#

or if you don't know

#

or what

fossil wyvern
#

haven't directly tested myself but afaik it should be doable for a plugin to create a browser dock, provided you know the url to it.
So, in your case, it'd mean creating the file:// yourself in the plugin

#

hmmm, looking at code, actually, not sure you got access to the necessary shit to do it cleanly

#

there's always a very dirty workaround, which is to manually edit the global.ini

#

but... yeah

#

could actually be not too bad an idea to add an api function to add browser docks, and doesn't seem like it'd be too hard looking at it

jovial hare
#

ok

#

thanks for the input

#

Are you saying in plugin context I don't have access to filenames or that I just don't unless I write compiled code? or something else?

fossil wyvern
jovial hare
#

ah

fossil wyvern
# jovial hare ah

if you want the quick and dirty :

  • listen to the OBS_FRONTEND_EVENT_SCRIPTING_SHUTDOWN frontend event. That event is fired just after custom browser docks are saved.
  • meaning you can then config_get/set_string on the "BasicWindow", "ExtraBrowserDocks" config item to append your own browser dock to the list of user-created custom browser docks
#

the one disadvantage of that, apart being dirty as all fucks, is that it basically requires restarting obs once after the first load of the plugin in order for the dock to appear

fervent marsh
#

cringes

jovial hare
#

yeah I won't pursue that

fossil wyvern
jovial hare
#

if I wanted to do nasty things I would include the header, if I want to be clean I would make the API

#

and if I wanted to be lazy, well... your earlier suggestions are the lazy way

fervent marsh
fossil wyvern
#

lmfao

fervent marsh
#

To be fair, Pen's hacky suggestion is unlikely to break anything even if obs changes under the hood. At worst that one thing would just stop working for adding a dock.

fossil wyvern
jovial hare
#

that's actually a good point

#

though portability blaaaaaaaah

#

but your point is still valid

fossil wyvern

fervent marsh
#

fossil wyvern
#

not really

#

local html files is honestly a very niche use

#

it's not absurd that it wasn't thought of or not considered important enough when making the dialog

obsidian agate
#

i want to say that local HTML files have some limitations in regards to XHR and other remote requests. I ended up just setting up a basic NodeJS/Express web server to host all of my custom browser sources

jovial hare
#

They do?

#

Ugh, found references to that... lovely

#

I was really hoping to make things for OBS that could run locally rather than hosting them on some website

obsidian agate
#

the NodeJS/Express server is just on a local linux box I have setup in my home

#

i could run it on my local OBS PC if i wanted, but i like having all of that on my linux server personally

fossil wyvern
jovial hare
#

Honestly, I was trying to make controls for a streaming site be available inside OBS for users

#

but users are not smart, I didn't want to have instructions like "set up node" or "run webserver"

nor did I want to run my own website for this service, why do that if you can just run the files locally

fossil wyvern
#

currently not using a redirect url, the twitch api has a machine code grant flow that allows auth without needing redirect urls

#

am using a library for the eventsub subscriptions, but the rest, doing the auth, and managing the tokens, its validate and refresh I wrote manually

#

can give you the thing if you want, though do bear in mind most of it is a work in progress, and it's kinda rough cause ngl I'm shit at js and I hate it

jovial hare
#

not right now, thanks for offering... I'm getting disillusioned about my idea at this point

fossil wyvern

out of curiosity, what's the service in question?

jovial hare

fossil wyvern
#

oh, dunnae much about their api, sorry

jovial hare
#

I know their API pretty well, but it's just bog standard Oauth 2.0

#

it supports PKCE, but not machine grant

#

still need a redirect URL otherwise it gets cranky

fossil wyvern
#

if you do need a redirect URL, my first version of this (before I realised machine code grant flow was something) basically had a github page as a redirect URL, which simply "extracted" the code and displayed it, so that the user copied it into the dock to auth

solar dust
fossil wyvern
#

yeah, but static port is a big sticking point when you need to distribute to other, potentially tech illiterate users

fossil wyvern
#

idk if picarto also gives the acces token in the hash of the redirect, or rather in a param or smth, but something similar should be doable nonetheless

spice scroll
# weak escarp It is better to ask your question about the move plugin here so others can help ...

The question is understanding how the source order is supposed to work. If I start the source, in top position and set it to change to start absolute, it will move the source to the bottom position. The relative position doesnt seem to have an effect at all.

What I am trying to do accomplish, is to have the source move from whatever position it is (e.g. the bottom) to the top position at the start of the move. I don't understand why "start absolute" will move the source to the bottom of the sources. Maybe your plugin cant do what I am trying to do and I am misunderstanding the point of the source order?

For clearer context, I have 3 media sources in the scene, each in their own group, with the filter applied directly to the scene as per usual. I want the source listed at the bottom, to move to the top, before the start of the move transform.

weak escarp
spice scroll
#

I see there are start/stop triggers. Currently I have the filter running a perpetual loop. What I want to do is have the loop end, when the scene is not active/ not being shown from another scene. I have played around with the options but I dont really understand what each of the triggers really mean. Is it possible to do what I am trying to do and also do you have documentation that explains what each of these options within the plugin are supposed to do?

weak escarp
#

to stop a loop you have to disable the filter that is active at that moment in the loop. so to always stop a loop when not active set the stop trigger to deactivate for all of the filters of the loop

weak escarp
#

yes

Okay cool thanks I have that working ---- is there a method I could implement, to make sure that the transform returns to its starting position --- ideally to reset it to its initial position? I find it just sort of pauses where it was at

So when looking at the game footage. The lobby should be the easiest to keep. I feel like like the best option is when it does not match. Switch to in game scene, and of course when it does switch to lobby. Though I need to keep looking at the game for a sec.

Someone else may know better how to approach it with that game specifically. But I'm confident we can figure out a solution!

Pretty much lol, and maybe? I feel like a second macro is needed? But I could be overthinking it a little. But I was thinking one marco for if matches. Go to lobby, if it does not match do nothing or go to main game scene? Something like that, but if it can be done in one action. That could be it

outer socket
#

hmm

#

are you using cross correlation?

wintry wedge
#

I'm not currently. I don't personally have the game. So I would need to pull in some game footage from Youtube to properly test it. So you'd have to give me a short moment

outer socket
#

Oh, no, dont worry about it, you dont have to do that

wintry wedge
#

It's not a problem, it's just tricky to guage based off images. Cause I can see why it's hard to pin a good selection for the Scene Switcher

#

So far the only thing I could think of, as stated above.
Is have one marco with a wait at the end. To swtich to Lobby Scene when it matches.
Then have one macro for anytime it doesn't it can switch to main scene, for gameplay and main menus

outer socket
#

Alright, so, I did your idea. I kept macro 1 "if matching this store tab image. switch to the lobby scene" , and I added another macro that says if not matching the store tab image, switch to ingame scene." It kinda works, but now it keeps swapping to the game if I manually switch, to, say, an intermission scene or an ending stream scene

#

oop, or maybe i misunderstood your idea

wintry wedge
#

Also the threshold tends to really help with how sensitive it is. So pattern matching, and increasing the threshold till its less sensitive.

It may also help to record some small footage to play around with. Then it will be easy to play with the Threshold slider. If you use has changed or has not changed

It might be picking up on the black. So you may have to do exactly matches or does not exactly match.

#

I just read above you said manually switch scenes. One sec

#

Only thing I can currently think of, is since it would still be watchign the game. I guess it would see when it's not playing as a has changed. Then switch to game scene. That could be why. So you may need to add another condition to it or have the macros only on when game is active

#

You can probably have it be. If video scene has changed or has not changed + And scene is. It will isolate it the game scenes only.
Then it should change if you switch scenes to intermission or end screen

outer socket
#

Uuuuhhh no matter how many times I read this, you kinda lost me

#

I will just copy what's in this screenshot hang on

#

If I'm reading this screenshot right..

#

I cannot find the bar that contains or

mortal harbor
#

you click the + again

#

the idea here is that you're adding multiple conditions so the scene change only happens if you are on the scenes you want it to happen from.

# outer socket Okay, did I have the first part of this right? I think this miiiiiiiiiiiight be ...

So for this you kind of have it. You'd need it to just be the first and last part. Remove the Or condition.

Macro 1
If Game Source does not match and scene is is Lobby Scene
◟ switch to Main/Gameplay Scene

Macro 2
if Game Source does match and scene is is Main/Gameplay Scene
◟switch to Lobby Scene

That way it should just be looking for those icons, and referencing those scenes.
You can create the first Macro. Duplicate it, then switch the scene is condition, and switch scene sub action.

That should cover it

outer socket
#

I did exactly this, and it's still not behaving, but at least it isn't messing with any of my other scenes, so. Good progress so far

#

I think I may just have to fiddle with threshold for another hour or two there's probably an exact percent number somewhere i have to find

#

Hear me out

#

What if

#

Well no nevermind

I'm wanting to do some memes/stream overlay effects and scrolling youtube and saw one guy use a StreamFX plugin....the video is older though, so any recommendations for obs plugins out there I can use to spice up my stream?

!plugins for a general question like this maybe you might just wanna scroll through the plugins and see what is out there?

Whoa whoa whoa whoa

#

can you guys think of a reason why advanced scene switcher would actually change my scene so that it's the same as a different scene in the preview box?

#

oh thank god closing and opening obs fixed it

this plugin is not making me happy camper

Im trying to use Source Record on startup to record my main monitor via normal obs and 2nd monitor with the plugin. It doesnt seem to capture with Source Record unless I turn the filter off and on for 2nd monitor.

Uh, okay, now it's just constantly swappping back and forth 😕

# outer socket Should I have this checked

No, you dont need that, and I'm currently testing it.
One pain with it, just like how you make a new screenshot. If you make some other adjustments. You may have to may have to re select the area.

I was just experiance it jumping till I re selected the area. Cause after I adjusted something else. The initial spot I sliced, changed

hmm

#

ill try reselectin

Man, I have been pumpin away at this all day and night and I just can not seem to find the right fiddling combo to get it to work. I've wrestled six or seven OBS plugins by now and I can mostly get them to behave, but this just has me stumped, I do declare.

#

perhaps if i email the guy that made it spinning_think

mortal harbor
#

if so I have to assume you're probably just overcomplicating it as this can be set up in a minute or two.

I sometimes forget there's a different use case for OBS other than twitch streaming.

There's a bible verse plugin for OBS.

#

" It allows users to seamlessly integrate Bible text, chapter navigation, and verse selection into their live streams or presentations."

fossil wyvern
#

yeah church services streaming is a non negligible use, esp since pandemic

You ever wanted the bible verses in a csv or xml file format? IN ALL LANGUAGES?

WELL THERES A GITHUB FOR THAT!

#

ok, when I am on my PC in a few hours I will record a short video of myself setting this up and hopefully you'll be able to follow along.

#

what is the context though? what game? what screens in the game? what are the two scenes you are switching between?

fossil wyvern
#

dead by daylight if I remember correctly

#

switch between lobby and in-game

outer socket
#

One for lobby and one for gameplay, Pennywern is right

outer socket
#

to answer mitchell's questions in order: the game, is dead by daylight. as for what screens, the first screenshot is the lobby: highlighted in red is the rectangle containing two icons that I use to denote the "lobby" scene.

the second one is gameplay, however what's tricky is that everything you see, even the HUD icons on the left, can change at any moment and from match to match, so it's rough to nail down when precisely a game is active.

#

these are the two scenes i am switching between

#

i think that was everything

mortal harbor
#

if there is no consistent thing to match in-game then you're going to have an issue.

vale vine
#

Does ASS have an active window macro?

#

Though the game and lobby are probably running same exe

#

Unlike something like LOL where they are different so my idea wouldn't work here. Sorry, thinking outloud

outer socket
#

It's all one deal, not like league of legends

vale vine
#

Yea that ha

mortal harbor
#

I think when I did this for call of duty I used the loading screen the match to, so if I was already on the lobby screen and that loading screen was detected it would switch.

vale vine
#

Does DBD have a loading screen that always has a persistent element?

#

Been forever since I've played it

outer socket
#

No, sadly, there’s an icon, but it changes frequently with events.
