Is there a way I can program my scenes so that if a channel point scene is redeemed, it can return back to the previous window without having to program every single one? For example: If I'm playing a PC game (Gameplay Screen), can a viewer redeem Silly Dancing Scene with channel points, and then automatically switch back to Gameplay Screen (Or Just Chatting, Drawing, and any other misc. scenes) when the 20-second video clip is over?

I basically want a catch-all type of setup so that no matter what scene I'm on, once the Dance-off is completed, I can go back to whatever that previous scene was

I don't think so, if there is it might be very hacky.

Adv ss detects things happening every X Ms. So you'd already have triggered the scene switch.

And I'm not sure if there's a way to store what scene you were trying to go to, to go to it later.

Depending on your transition (?) if its custom you stinger you could add 1 sec of nothing to the stinger, and have adv ss detect the transition happening and do what you want before any actual visuals appear on screen.

Yes, they are all bots.

If you make note of the names of those "viewers", you can go in the same game category you streamed in, look at channels of similar viewer count to you, and open up one channel at a time, wait for it to load, look at their viewer list, take a screenshot, close the channel, open the next channel and do the same. Then look at how many of the names of the people in your own viewerlist are not only in other streams, but are in 10/20/50/100 streams simultaneously. They are not real human viewers but are bots that just join channels to gather data such as follower count, viewer count, possibly record the discussions in chat, and gather other statistics either for driving some public statistical website like Twitchtracker or Commanderroot etc., or for some unknown reasons.

Twitch is infested with hundreds of bots that just join channels and never say anything, just sucking up data for whatever purposes.

They are generally connecting only to chat however through IRC rather than on the web page as a normal viewer, so there is no web session associated. Twitch does not count these bots as viewers on someone's channel, so this is why you might see 30 names in the viewer list in chat, but only have a viewer count of 10-15 or so. The rest are bots.

Yes :P. Friend of mine made a program which takes bot list from this site and bans all of them. So it's 99% real deal in your chat.

The problem with that, is that banning an account on Twitch does not remove the user from chat. They can still come to the stream, can still watch etc. or gather data. So the bot isn't a real viewer anyway and is just there to monitor the channel which it can continue to do even when it is banned. So basically banning bots is completely ineffective.

All it does is prevent them from speaking in chat, but most of these bots explicitly do not ever speak in chat to begin with, they're just data harvesters that work still even when they're banned.

If a bot is a spambot, then banning them will prevent them from spamming, but not from joining chat.

Since it is ineffective, IMHO it is not worth banniing them as it doesn't accomplish anything, but it does risk possible false positives of banning legit viewers.

It would however be nice if there were a way to actually ban accounts completely from accessing a channel altogether including chat. I imagine Twitch doesn't want to do that because just taking away a viewer's ability to chat effectively bans them but they can still watch ads and make Twitch money. 😛 If they were a real viewer actually watching of course.

Banning is exactly what it is. After banning them they are removed from chat list. And are not able to join again. It's basic IRC stuff.

if you needed an account to view chat, that'd be a different issue, though then i suspect data harvesters would start mass-making accounts, good luck banning them all

Banning on Twitch is equivalent to "quiet" mode on IRC effectively.

I'd first crop the bounds close to the edge of that border. And then stretch it.

To crop sources in OBS Studio, first reset the source to its default size by clicking on it and pressing ctrl+r. Then hold the alt key and drag the red box around the source you wish to crop. The sides will turn green to indicate they are cropped. Note that the preview must be unlocked in order to do this.

I am using OBS Studio 27.2.4 with Streamelements. I have tried downloading plugins like Tuna, but they are not showing in Tools. Is there a prereq file or something simple I am overlooking? I installed them in the 64 bit plugin folder.

A clean log file is required to help fix your issue. To make a clean log file, please follow these steps:

1. Restart OBS
2. Start your stream/recording for at least 30 seconds (or however long it takes for the issue to happen). Make sure you replicate any issues as best you can, which means having any games/apps open and captured, etc.
3. Stop your stream/recording.
4. Select Help > Log Files > Upload Current Log File. Copy the URL and paste it here.

I've had issues with installing plugins the last few weeks and couldn't figure out why.

As a developer I thought that if backwards compatibility was broken it should say so, but on the plugins I've downloaded it doesn't.

But downloading the version before adding support to OBS 28 made the plugins work 🙂

I don't think there are any plugins that are absolutely essential categorically, however there are many which are very useful for doing specific things if one is interested in doing specialized things.

Some of the more popular and useful plugins include StreamFX, OBS Shaderfilter, all of Exeldro's 10,000 plugins, Advanced Scene Switcher to name a few, but there are a lot more that are potentially useful. Just make sure that the plugin explicitly says that it is compatible with whatever version of OBS you are using first before trying it (or they wont work).

Quick question regarding Advanced Scene Switcher... can you nest macro conditions, like if A and (B or C) => action or would it be better to split it up into two macros if A and B => action / if A and C => action?

so you could make that B or C and A to execute the or first

you could also group conditions by having a separate macro with only the conditions you want to group, then in the other macro, you add a macro condition that says If conditions of Macro B are true

top one is the general capture output audio that comes with obs

like +10dB can be added, or some audio drivers enhance the audio

and what obs captures as desktop audio is already modified by the drivers/OS (which one modifies it, i'm not really sure)

Anyone have experience with Soundtrack by twitch? The audio doesnt go through the audio bar it generates, and after I uninstalled and tried reinstalling the pluggin, it doesnt work at all anymore.

It can be a little tricky, but most plugins as they are updated over time, only maintain compatibility with the current version of OBS, which means those of us who stay on older versions for whatever reasons need to carefully check the version of the plugin and its compatibility information to make sure it is compatible with the version of OBS we're using, and then never update it to something newer, as plugin devs almost never provide their plugins for older versions of OBS as it is too much effort and too confusing for people to figure out which thing they need to download. You can usually look at the github repository of a given plugin and go through all of the older releases, reading the documentation of each one for indication of what version of OBS it is compatible with.

What I do here, is have OBS downloads folder, and then OBS-plugins-<version> folders where I download plugins compatible with that version of OBS so if I need to reinstall or set up a new portable install, I don't have to re-research what version of which plugins to use in that version of OBS.

The downside of using an older OBS release in this manner is that we miss out on new features and bugfixes of the updated plugins, but c'est la vie as they say. 🙂

Yeah, having a reliable StreamFX is absolutely critical for me, so any OBS release that requires a new StreamFX and some other plugins to which they do not have the same level of stability/features/compatibility I can't adopt.

It's comparable in a sense to why the OBS developers took so long to update to Qt6 or newer CEF. The newer libraries had issues that they couldn't deal with for a long time so they pushed it off until the future.

Eventually they were able to integrate the new deps and resolve longstanding issues that prevented them from being able to update.

OBS has had built-in support for Twtich's VOD track for some time and the old Twitch plugin is both no longer needed, but is known to cause problems. Also keep in mind that using a VOD track on Twitch will also not save you from DMCA strikes.

most plugins are built for v28 now so the most recent versions require v28. regardless of your old setup, it'd be much easier to just install v28 and go from there.

yeah, but i tried updating to v28 and some of the plugins just did not work or weren't updated yet so i prefer to keep streaming on 27 until everything is fine.

And i am using the correct version of those plugins, always checking the minimum version of obs they work one and it seems fine. I might just download an older version of the plugins and see if they work and the "minimum" is wrong.

so I was logged into stream elements so I logged out, and then I changed my filter from background removal to NVIDIA background removal

That wasn't working before so it had to be what I changed in NVIDIA broad cast that made it finally work!!!!!

if it's just an image, just add an image source, size it to the same size as the camera source, and make sure the camera is above the image in the source list.

the source list is the layers, so sources at the top of the list show on top of others, but the background removal will add the transparency, so you can see the image behind it.

there isnt official support for the usual NDI plugin on the latest version. There are some other 3rd party (4th party?) that has made a compatible version, and there is also an early build of the updated NDI (5 instead of 4), but im not sure I would recommend doing either if NDI is crucial for production. I think it is linked to Source Record, since my OBS crashes after I turn off the record of a source that was on for a few hours

I stream with CPU, record with GPU, source record is also done with GPU
The GPU is not maxed
CPU average between 80/90%

The Teleport plugin is a good alternative in your situation. You need 2 copies of OBS each running the plugin. If the camera is NDI-based, you would still need to wait for the plugin to be updated, or downgrade to 27

Restream.io is a service, free and paid versions, where you send your stream output from OBS to them, and they manage sending it to the streaming sites you want you live broadcast on. The second one is a plugin in you run on your PC and you manage all the connections to different services.

I've used Restream before, it used to be sweet til they gimped the service to an insulting & laughable degree.
The difference is Restream let's you stream to 2 platforms at once for free (Used to be like 8), and you only process/encode/upload ONE Stream.
Something like Multiple RTMP Plugin let's you do a different resolution, bitrate, ect & push a 2nd Stream to another platform (Not sure how many, but I know it's more than 3)
If you have the upload speed for it, and the processing power to pull it off, I reccomend Multiple RTMP Plugin.
Using Multiple RTMP Plugin you can push a beautiful 1440p Stream to YouTube, a nice 720p Stream to Twitch, and other services, each with their own settings & quality rates.
If you don't mind paying, and only have so much upload speed - Restream is your friend, if you felt so inclined, use Restream in conjunction with other similar services to maximize your reach/minimize processing power required, if you use the Custom RTMP option you can link multiple services such as Restream together (LIVEPUSH is another decent one)

Finding something you like or consider "nice-looking" may mean searching through websites like Streamelements, Streamlabs, Nerd Or Die, etc, to find something you like. Whether it's free or not really can't be determined by taste. You could find something that's close to what you want, and then edit them yourself. You can go the paid direction and look for a creator on Fiverr.

You do not need the Streamlabs Desktop app to use any of those free assets. There should be instructions on how to use them as browser sources or overlays, depending on what you plan to use.

All you need to do is enable the second audio track in OBS while Twitch is your configured streaming service, then map your audio sources to those tracks.

Just keep in mind that VODs won't save you from DMCA strikes

Yep, if you are streaming from your computer to multiple remote platforms at the same time you will have an outbound connection to each platform requiring the full bitrate you're using. So if you are streaming with 6Mbps for example, and you want to stream to 4 platforms, you will need 6Mbps * 4 = 24Mbps upload bandwidth for the stream. Also, since you should never generally stream more than half of your upload bandwidth because other programs use some of it also, and the Internet is "up to" rather than "guaranteed", you would need to have a reliable 50Mbps upload to do this.

Another way to think of it is take your ISP advertised "up to" upload speed, divide it by 2 to get the effective max upload speed, then divide that by the number of streaming services to get the effective max speed per service. Of course you also have to honour any individual streaming service's max ingest speed too.

That ballparks what you can do at least.

You're using an outdated version of OBS, and the move-transition plugin you are trying to use is made for OBS 28.0. You either need to upgrade OBS to version 28 (which may break your setup as all plugins need to be updated and may not have updated versions available), or you need to downgrade move-transition to a version that is made to work with OBS 27.0. Unfortunately the "OBS Version" mentioned on the move-transition plugin pages is inaccurate (it says 25.0+ on it for example and the current plugin is built for OBS 28).

Having multiple versions of OBS installed at the same time can confuse the plugin installers to install them in the wrong place if you just accept the default directory. You need to make sure the directory it is installing the plugin to is the correct OBS installation you plan to use it with.

In Windows Settings -> Apps, you can uninstall any programs/plugins which were installed via using a proper EXE/MSI file installer package. Any plugins installed manually by dropping the files out of a zip file into the OBS installation can not be uninstalled and have to be removed manually by knowing which files were put where, and deleting them individually.

Right now it is best to use 64bit OBS 27.2.4 if you use various plugins, unless you can confirm each plugin is compatible with OBS 28, in which case OBS 28 might work out. There are a number of plugins not yet updated to work with OBS 28 however, such as NDI, StreamFX and others.

Your scene collections and configuration profiles should be fine, but the program operation and working of things may or may not work depending on your setup.

As I mentioned above, a lot of plugins broke and require the developers to update them for OBS 28, and not all of them have done so yet, so if you rely on any plugins or other apps that haven't been updated you could have problems.

People with very simple setups and no plugins are probably ok, but people who use plugins are best to avoid updating to new OBS releases until its been out for a while and they can confirm every plugin is updated and works with the new version.

Another more advanced option mainly for advanced users and developers, is installing OBS in portable mode, where you can install multiple versions of OBS at the same time and each of them has their own configuration independent of each other. Allows for testing out new versions without breaking an existing setup, but it is more advanced to set it up.

ok, so, I understand what the problem is now :

• you need to check "restart when source become active" for both sources to start at the exact same time (when you transition to the scene) otherwise there is no guarantee that they'll start at the same time
• when you speak, it hides then unhides one of them but since it has "restart when become active", when it unhides, it restarts that source, hence desyncing them
  I have a workaround, gimme 5 to test whether it works and to type it up

ouki, so I have two solutions for you both of which involve the advanced-scene-switcher plugin :

1 :

• keep your show-hide setup as it is right now,
• uncheck "restart when active" in the source properties
• and instead use adv-ss, to sync the videos each time you enter the scene.

2 :

• keep "restart when active" to sync the sources when entering scene
• instead of show/hiding the top video when talking, change the order of the sources in the scene list, so the one you want is visible but both are still active and still running so keep synced (that can be done with adv-ss, maybe move-transition can too, idk, I never really used that plugin extensively.

Different changes that have happened in OBS have caused stuff I've built over time to not work properly, so I'll keep using OBS 26.1.1 until the stuff either works in a newer release (ie: bugs get fixed), or I have to migrate my code to work with a new release for other cases.

Doing this for 300 shaders and various other stuff every 6 months isn't fun.

I use 27.2.4 for streaming to YouTube with a fairly barebones setup just screensharing without fancy stuff

The sRGB changes and some of the alpha blending isn't working on things in newer releases. I haven't had time to figure out whether some/all of it is just things I have to adapt my code/math to, or bugs in OBS that need addressing. There are some open bug reports from others claiming alpha blending is broken but I haven't looked into it myself and don't know what the official word is. So right now it's just "this used to work and now it looks different and not right, why?"

My hope is that as new releases come out, any bugs there are get magically fixed by the time I am coding again, I test things and they either just work, or I can quickly figure out what I need to do to make my existing code work as expected again.

And if I need to use 27 or newer for some reason such as Twitch API update etc. I can pipe the output of 26.x through Spout to the newer release and have my cake and eat it too. Bungie cords and duct tape FTW.

Doesn't Blade offer support for their app? I don't think there is much that we can do for support, as Blade is not affiliated with OBS Project, and it's an independent mobile app, not a plugin which runs in OBS.

Touch Portal is for way more than just OBS, streaming and recording. In that way, it may not be "easier" if all you need it for is external control of OBS instead of using keybinds or mousing to second display or tabbing out of game to another window on a single display. There's a free version you can test drive, and it works with OBS 28.

I don't know. Google is your friend there. There are lots of OBS remote apps, just need to find the one that's maintained and works with OBS 28. I can't recommend something I don't know anything about.

I don't know. I googled OBS remote apps and got lots of different things. Oddly, none of them were Blade even though I checked out the github site for it.

If you'd like to control OBS Studio remotely, you have a few options.

To control from the web on any device (including phones and computers), use OBS Tablet Remote (requires obs-websocket).

If you'd prefer a mobile app that works like the Elgato Streamdeck, you can try Touch Portal, UP Deck, or Deckboard.

I installed the very latest version, yet it still isn't working. The site says it's updated for 28. I even went in and manually removed the old version and then installed the new version, rebooted the computer, never installed when the program was open, etc. Even when I removed the old version manually and before I installed the new version (so technically there should be NO version of it on OBS) I still get this:

As far as I know, dynamic delay has to be activated via hotkey. Is there a way to activate it automatically?
How I use it is I have it permanently on slow-mo, and enable/disable the filter itself, since my program which controls it can't use hotkeys

You can but you'd have to composite it from multiple copies. You can crop the first one to the top half, and the second one to the bottom half. Apply the LUT to only the bottom one.

For duplication you can use nested scenes, or you can use StreamFX source mirror if you're using OBS 27.2.4
