uninstalling streamFX and running the pre release installer should be enough to resolve. note that the streamFX plugin doesn't install to the typical OBS plugins folder so do not change the default path the installer uses.

still, streamfx is worth installing for all the cool new features it adds

source mirrors, dynamic masks and color grading alone are already good, but then you get into customizing video encoder options and possibly into running pixel shaders, it's mostly worth the effort invested

i was asking if , since my obs is on D: drive instead of C: should i change the default installlation location. I tried installing it to D:, it didnt work, so i uninstalled StreamFX and reinstalled it to the default location and lo and behold it worked

for example, if i want to stream to twitch's london ingest, i'd use rtmp://live-lhr.twitch.tv/app/live_ebguiowey8gu9ioh45jfl3j54tbnj4wkm assuming my stream key is live_ebguiowey8gu9ioh45jfl3j54tbnj4wkm (this isn't actually my stream key, i typed a random string of letters, you should get yours from your streaming services)

obs-multi-rtmp doesn't care too much about what you use in the streaming output, but you will have to start and stop streaming at least once to fetch encoding settings, so maybe set it to a dummy destination, like a twitch bandwidth test

With Source Record plugin, is it possible to start/stop the replay buffer without saving a clip? because I dont see how I can get it to work like a normal replay buffer and im always gonna have an extra clip laying around with nothing worthwhile

More approriate for the Elgato discord server, however... you update Stream Deck plugins inside the Stream Deck software's plugin store, the same way you installed them in the first place. I'm not certain but I think it might automatically update installed plugins on its own even (if a new version is available). It wont update to beta versions however.

I am having trouble getting TUNA settings to appear under the tool menu. This is a plugin that I've installed. I am running OBS 27.2.4 32 Bit on a Windows computer. Is anyone able to assist?

What version of the Tuna plugin do you have installed? I'm looking over the docs and it looks like there's a distinct cutoff between versions that support OBS 27 and prior and 28.

@unkempt kestrel I think I found the issue. When I checked the minimum requirements for TUNA it says Minimum OBS Studio 28. I have 27.2.4 on Windows 7 and I don't think OBS 28 will work on Windows 7. I tried installing 28 and then when trying to launch it, I get an error.

That would do it for sure. OBS 28 definitely does not support Windows 7. You're stuck using OBS 27 unless you upgrade to Windows 10/11.

and I think they are only making x64 bit versions of OBS 28 and this Windows 7 system is 32 bit. I don't see and x86 version available

If you're on the 32-bit version of Windows 7 instead of the 64-bit version, I would strongly recommend doing a fresh install of 64-bit Windows 10 (using your Windows Vista/7/8.x key). You don't even need to enter a key if your hardware has activated a Windows install before or it's an OEM system that came with Windows (Windows key in BIOS).

@gaunt zealot I'm getting an error when I try to launch the windows 10 installation file on windows 7. It says" We're not sure what happened, but we're unable to run this tool on your PC. If you continue experiencing problems, reference the error code when contacting customer support. Error Code: 0x80072F8F - 0x200000." This computer has some issues. It won't load a lot of web sites, and gives me the error "Your Connection is not Private" with no option to continue to the site. I tried for countless hours to fix that but haven't gotten it resolved. Maybe that computer is just at it's end of life? LOL

It does still however do a good job of streaming with OBS

Do a fresh install of Windows 10 from scratch. If you have the key from 7, type that in. If not, click skip when it asks for a key and Windows will activate when it runs Windows Update.

Sounds like your existing Windows install is broken to the point it's breaking the in-place upgrade installer.

Outdated hardware has nothing to do with that (Windows 10 will technically run on a Pentium 4 with 2 GB RAM...)

When Microsoft released Windows 10 they advertised the free upgrade as being for a limited time, then they removed the automatic nag for it after that but they left it available on their servers and continued to accept the older license keys as valid ever since. By not advertising it as free over time it is their way of encouraging people to upgrade rather than staying on old unsupported insecure versions of Windows, while thinking they're pulling the wool over Microsoft's eyes, while simultaneously continuing to be able to sell new license keys to those not in the know or who think it doesn't work.

So I need some help with the multiple RTMP outputs plugin. I added both YouTube and Twitch as destinations, but on Twitch, it says "live" below my pfp, but on the stream window itself it's just the thumbnail and it says the stream is offline in the corner. Any ideas on how to fix that?

Stream twitch the regular way, add YouTube to the rtmp plugin. Press Start stream the normal way, then start rtmp.

Now, the buttons work, but there isn't a "target" section to designate Preview vs. Program playback. So, when you press the button, the target is automatically preview rather than program. I am a gaming coach and I like to have tasks or "things to focus on while playing" to show my students how to progress
and would love for the viewers to have a counter that they can access with a command to add numbers to the completed task
i'll make a stupid example "focus on anti airing" and everytime I hit an anti air they can type a command and the counter will go up
Ideally with multiple commands for multiple tasks

@mighty moon With regards to filling in arbitrary text with an image or video using masking, you can apply the StreamFX Dynamic Mask filter on an image or video source, and configure the Dynamic Mask "Input Source" to point to the text to use for a mask. Then scroll down the the Alpha section and set Base Value to 0, and Alpha Input Value to 1.0. The video should be masked to the text. Example:

StreamFX is quite stable at this point and if you where only using StreamFX for the AMF encoder, there's a better version in OBS v28 anyways. If you're trying to get ISO recordings and/or multi-stream, you should be using Spout and/or Multi-RTMP and/or Source Record anyways instead of NDI...

There's not much more to say really... If you want ISO recordings use Source Record and if you want to multi-stream, use Multi-RTMP. That basically it.

As long as you aren't trying to composite multiple aspect ratios at once, e.g. both Twitch+TikTok live concurrently, you're good to go.

Hello everyone, I need help. I had OBS set up to control the volume of my apps (browser, spotify, game, mic) separately. Ex: I lowered the volume of the game and it stopped being heard in the stream and in my headphones at the same time.

That works. You may have had them set up with the plugin instead of the built in source so when you deleted your plugins it removed the source.

You're making incorrect assumptions about the move-transition plugin without reading its documentation. It does exactly what you were asking for. 🙂

It's from OBS Shaderfilter, and it does not do arbitrary rotation around a fixed point like the OBS Transform rotate function does. It is possible to write a shader to do rotation, bot there isn't much point in doing so since OBS has this functionality built in already.

The only thing missing is the animation of the property, which is what move-transition can do.

Yeah, in general people don't respond to something unless they know enough about what the person is needing help with to gauge whether they might be able to help. Otherwise it is generally a bit of a game of dragging information out of them piece by piece, or responding and then getting the actual info and saying "sorry, can't help". It's just easier to wait until someone says something that you do think you might be able to help with.

But on the other side of things, stating a problem and getting no responses, I can also understand that that can be frustrating. It's useful to know that despite there being a huge number of people who have joined the server (around 200,000), only about 40,000 are logged in at any time, and most people don't stay glued to Discord all day, and on the server here most people here are actually looking for help rather than giving it, so the actual number of people who might be able to help someone or discuss a particular issue with them is actually quite small, and they might be eating dinner, working, sleeping, swimming, planting trees or something else, even though their computer/phone is logged into Discord.

When failing to get a response in real time chat like Discord for something, it's a good indication nobody knows, or someone who might know isn't around, to try again another time or to use an asynchronous communication mechanism like the forums, tends to work a bit better IMHO.

Just as an example, I wasn't present (I'm in and out of playing Cyberpunk right now) when you asked your question. Technically I am very experienced with move-transition (as are many people here), however without knowing what the query is for myself and many others would be less likely to respond. On the other side, if someone asked a question about move-transition with a lot of details about what they're doing, whenever I happen to look at the channel if I see it, and if I do know how to do the thing being asked or think I might be able to help, I will very often respond, but it might be hours later. I know many others are the same way.

Also, someone can be experienced with something and not know the answer to a specific question.

Anyhow, hope that helps, and feel free to mention what you're trying to do with move-transition and myself or someone else might be able to help or offer some advice.

What happened last Tuesday? Did you upgrade OBS from an older version up to 28.0.x? If so, you need to update your Stream Deck software to the latest version released a day or so ago also. You'll also need to check any OBS plugins you're using for an OBS 28 compatible update, or remove them (or alternatively downgrade OBS to 27.2.4 and wait for plugins you need to get updated for 28).

having a weird issue where the Exeldro build of obs-shaderfilter (1.21.1 updated for OBS28) is not loading at all in my Portable install, nor will it load in a freshly installed, clean POrtable Install.

The log files for both installs shows the following...

Skipping module '../../obs-plugins/64bit/obs-shaderfilter.dll', not an OBS plugin

The plugin is properly installed in the right directories, and OBS is not popping up any compatibility warnings, so its not a QT thing AFAIK

Hello, good, I have a problem with the NDI obs, it does not detect the source of pc gamer -> pc streaming, any solution?

1. Go to Tools > NDI of pc gamer and check that it is enabled.
2. Check that both pcs use NDI 4.5.1
3. Exclude OBS in the firewall settings, or just turn it off for testing.
4. Ensure that they are on the same network. The third number on their IPs must be the same (would only change if there are multiple networks)
5. Try restarting both pcs

Does anyone know how can I automate the process of restarting frozen stream? I have ip camera that is constantly live streaming and sometimes it stops working for a few seconds. When it stops working obs freezes its live stream and i only can see one frozen frame in obs for the rest of day or week until i manually go to obs and restart source. Live stream is going through vlc media source. Is there some plugin that can fix this? Thanks in advance!

hi~ i was wondering if there already a plugin/script where it keeps a config / backup of output settings depending on streaming service or so? ( would be good if there was a plugin which saved like the whole profile/config depending on streaming service)

for example. for yt streams i stream on a higher bitrate , or let's say im using hevc encoder settings for it~
and for twitch streams i needa change the settings to be 6,000~ and h264 settings~

do you think using multiple profiles will help in this? ( like keeping 1 profile for yt, and another for twitch)

It's keeping the reference when you switch to a clean Scene Collection. Doesn't crash when booting on a clean scene collection, then closing.

Sounds like you clobbered the built-in websockets by installing websockets meant for a version meant for older builds of OBS. Close OBS, then uninstall all mentions of obs-websockets in Windows' Add Remove Programs, then open OBS and run the file integrity check under the Help menu.

ndi's a/v desync and lag are known issues, any connection instability can and will cause them, and the only fix is to restart the ndi source, but that may cause desync between multiple ndi sources, not to mention the issue will re-emerge as soon as your wifi ping spikes again

a single 2070 is more than enough for 2x 1080p 30fps encodes, even with all the composition overhead, although your scene collection is quite complex, too

Unless your streaming to YouTube, 720p is where it's at. Your steam will look better on twitch at 720p than it will at 1080p.

Think of your stream like a painting, your resolution is how big your canvas is, and your bitrate is your paint, but you only got exactly 1 gallon of paint, but you still need all the detail in your painting.
Lower res with same bitrate looks better.
Unless you're streaming to YouTube in which case 20k+ bitrate at 1440p or higher will be the best image.

I can demonstrate this for you if you like after I get home from work so you can see the difference

8k bitrate 720p twitch is the sweet spot

I don't have much experience with TikTok, I would personally reccomend not dealing with TikTok at all, if you want to know why, just check YouTube for "TikTok Exposed" or "The Dark Side of TikTok" or something, I know Upper Echelon Gamer made SEVERAL videos on the topic, Muta has made a few over the years. - TikTok is in no way a secure or especially Safe thing to deal with, and you being a Creator they going to harvest EVEN MORE data than a simple consumer/viewer

Twitch suggests 6,000kbps for non-partner/non-affiliate people, 8,000 for Partners & Affiliates, but the average nobody can still use the 8k bitrate... Just don't go OVER 8k or Twitch will let it slide at 1st then later on outright reject your Stream. (Again, if you like, I can demonstrate this for you in a bit)

@ruby grove vlc sources aren't logging anything useful, but your rtmp stream disconnects frequently, might be a network issue
try using media sources instead of vlc sources to play the cameras, they should have more useful logs, hopefully
