BF built a PC like 2 weeks ago, everything fine then it started stuttering randomly, in game or out (and different games) we did a ddu uninstall of the graphics drivers - reinstalled them, same. Then took out the harddrive - tried another one - but after that it didnt want to boot up and loaded weird like an old image loading slowly on AOL lol. After that checked ram, 1 stick - same thing, 2 stick it loaded but couldn't game so figured it was ram. Got new ram --- its still happening. Any advice?

It'd be a weird set of symptoms for being a GPU issue, but past discussions really made it feel that way.

The only other thing I can think is something super weird like... the CPU's cache got disabled somehow, or it's running with a super low clock speed (overheating?), or ... something. It's definitely weird.

At this point I'd be bread-boarding that system. Every component is suspect. Out of the case it comes, test with absolute minimum hardware, test components in a different system that's known to be sound. Run memcheck, run disk checks, benchmark the GPU, test test test

we did the memory checks but and memory but we had got the t-create ram which was new and just bought corsair ram today and put that in there. didn't benchmark GPU but he tore it apart and is putting the GPU in his old computer so then we can rule out the GPU - plus then he will be able to at least game tomorrow lol

the GPU came from that PC and is only like a month or two old I think. So we can rule out that at least in the morning

plus its just running so poorly i dont think we'd be able to do more test haha

The motherboard and cpu manuals both need to agree that it's present and supported. If the mainboard had an HDMI port on it, try plugging a monitor in and turning it on, see if it pushes frames to the monitor

I was wondering if maybe the thermal paste layer wasn't applied adequately, I should've spoken up about it maybe...but that's a lot of knobs turned.

"High" temps would be hard to track if it was spiking and immediately power cycling to protect itself.

With the CPU idle temp lower now and the GPU working in another system, I'd run aggressive benchmarks on that GPU in the system it seems to like. If it doesn't bomb, try it in the cursed system again

I mean, yea. GPU does graphics, CPU does thinky stuff and the onboard GPU isn't remotely as good as the standalone you pulled out of there to test elsewhere.

If both the GPU is stable after benchmarking in the other system (and it's not OC'd in any way) and the CPU is stable and the mem passed all checks, plug the GPU back into the cursed system and benchmark it there.

Sometimes reseating components will solve the strangest things, but also you'd said that your idle temp dropped six degrees after re-applying thermal paste, so that may also be operative. Anyway, good luck!

Currently we don’t scale the scene collections (it should show on the marketplace page what the resolution of the collection is). Re: grouping a single item, that I’m not sure of (I’m not the one who made the collections). It may be to apply a different filter to the camera source? (Maybe the maker didn’t know about source clone?)

but thankfully as of OBS v31 the scaling happens on its own, just need to make sure the canvas resolution matches what is listed on the elgato marketplace and then change it after you have imported.

first, make sure the monitor is plugged into the GPU not the motherboard.
if you are on Windows, you can go to the Graphics section of the Settings app to tell each app which GPU to use.
or you have to go into the BIOS to disable the integrated graphics

Funny, the media playlist source shuffle works better than the vlc one, but still not exactly how I expected. I wouldn't call it perfect, but due to a niche quirk of how I'm gonna use it, it is actually beneficial for me

On scene refresh, there doesn't seem to be a way to shuffle the first played song. Either it can be set to the same as the last one, or just the first in the playlist. But not a random one. Still new to this plugin though, maybe im missing something

But since I want to play a little sound-effect when switching to the scene, this works quite well, as I just set it to play it as the first element, and then the shuffled content comes after.

gave the connector a quick clean with deoxit on a cotton swab and it seems to be behaving again

Ok, WEIRD question, but is it possible for someone to hack into my OBS? I'm asking b/c something over the top weird happened to me in stream today - about an hour into stream, a trump speech started coming over into my stream - I only had ONE edge window open and it was on i-heart radio (I was using a playlist for stream - no ads on the page) the only way I found to stop the speech short of muting my audio was to completely shut down obs and restart. I've never had anything like that happen before - it's super weird. I did a virus scan afterwards, but nothing was there.

No, not really. Unless you have set up a way for someone to connect to OBS using Websockets and port forwarding (a rather challenging task). But it could have been a browser source or a custom browser dock, definitely check through all of those.

So I tried out the demo of Darkest Days. It seemed promising, an open world zombie game with crafting/building similarities to Fallout 4. It really looked like it would be my jam.

Honestly the story was kinda meh, dialogue stilted, and game mechanics were rather awkward and overcomplicated. Headshots don't kill zombies, just damage them more than body shots. Takes like 10-20 hits at the very least kill em. 4/10, uninstalled it

So I removed and bypassed it and found out that Comcast had throttled my endpoint UP to compensate for that stupid splitter.
