guys i cant find games to upload on my channel
do u have any small games
Animal Well, possibly smoler
Vampire Survivors is about 580MB
Animel Well is 33MB
i wasnt talking just about size
they didnt specify the context
π
smol has many meanings
your character in Animal Well is pretty smol too
Can confirm this is the issue, or something related to embedded metadata. I stripped it out of a sound clip just now and it works fine
Using media source or vlc source?
Media source
I'd suggest trying in vlc source too and see if same behavior occurs
If it doesn't, and you have reliable repro steps, bug report
π«‘
Starlinks connection to Twitch servers on here, very nice... as always
not only wifi, but USB wifi
all we missing is it being 802.11g now
how's the general speedtest tho? change it to ping only and do all servers to see if the starlink exit node is in US or something instead
around 200/35
not bad, i can stream normally when using a VPN
wich totally fixes the issue above
yeah, exit node shenanigans then
eyup, welcome to the interwebs, tubes all tangled!
also, using an usb adapter is quite fine
i have no issues with it
i may in the future buy a pci tho, who knows... maybe when goin for wifi 6 or 7
Draw 4
why
it's how the game works
depends on the house rules tbh
ok fine start it then

ok what the uno reverse
yt is much better looking for me too
i think its just that yt is soo much bigger
its hard to get a niche going
1080p YT is lower quality than 1080p Twitch at 6mbps hands down no question for less complex content (as it locks to 6mbps)
For movement? Idk.. it used to be shit but I've noticed 1080p streams actually looking really good
Although, maybe 1080p uploads are what I'm thinking of
for YT streams it also depends on what latency mode is selected by the streamer
@livid plover May I send you a DM?
i get a lot less motion blur on yt
but it might be because the ppl i watch are using av1
sure thing π
Yep, the caveat is that you have to stream at 1440p or higher, upscalng to that if necessary or 1080p is worse blurry lego blocks than Twitch even.
what about av1?
But 1080p looks fine if the original is 1440p or 4k.
for my livestreams all look great and i dont have blocks but im paying google
I've only used H.264 and H.265 for live streaming on YouTube as I don't have hardware AV1 encode and the software encoder was too much burden to handle 1440p60 on my system, albeit it has been upgraded in OBS 2-3 times since then so I'll have to try it again sometime.
twitch for me has looked soo bad with blocks and slowdown that i just cant
it hasnt been watchable for me in years
just as i get into it an ad shows up
and i refuse to pay for turbo
Yeah, I'm generally streaming to a small group of specific people and not the general public, so YouTube is 1000 times better than Twitch for that for sure.
i try to run ads at the very start of my streams, as well as every 60 minutes (on twitch) to prevent anyone from getting pre-roll when coming into the channel.
i also make sure to do it on specific breaks for myself as well
At high bitrates, there won't be any difference between HEVC and AV1 on YouTube.
eww hevc
You can just tag your stream as having "sensitive content" or "political content" to nuke ads
nah
YouTube reencodes everything, it's not like it'll serve AV1 to you, despite what the streamer uses.
ive disabled the "explicit content warning" option on my stream so I can get better discovery placement as well.
There are no AV1 streams
Yup, they don't serve HEVC either. Everything is transcoded usually into VP9
The magic lowest resolution to get VP9 is 2112x1188
is that resolution AMD AV1 safe
What's that, the next resolution above 1920x1080 that is evenly divisible by 16 in both axes? Just a guess.
is anything
No idea. Someone should give it a shot!
Maybe, I don't math well.
Using AMD HEVC here and it seems to work great but I haven't done any intense comparisons or anything, just the "looks good to the eye even when paused during high motion" test at high bit rate 25,000kbps. I'm pretty happy with the 6700XT I got as a holdover card, it has turned out to be a lot better than I expected with many things so got lucky on that. But my next card is going to be an NVIDIA for sure even if I get wallet-raped for it.
it feels like very much an expectations game too, streams just aren't gonna be sharp and crisp once you throw motion at it
Yeah. The way I think of it is: On Twitch you get blocky, on YT you get fuzzy.
I was considering 5090 for use with AI but now my armchair fantasy idea is to go for 5080 or wait for 5080 Ti or 24GB model, and possibly get one of those NVIDIA DIGITS computers as they look insane boss for AI.
AMDs HEVC is kinda good... but its missing a key feature as of now(Bframes)
yeah, I don't think most gamers buy into NVIDIA's fake frames nonsense π
tell that to the used 4090 market
just checked it on a calculator, and it is not divisible by 16 (or 8) on the vertical axis
theres some ppl selling their 4090s for 1.1k
I get the feeling they didn't use those 4090s for games then
weird
its not weird, its Google β’οΈ
apparently, LosslessScai. also has FG 3x
and its software lv, so can be used in any game
The main thing I dislike about 4090s and 4080s is the insane overkill coolers that take up 97 PCIE slots
the 5090s are soo much bigger
5090FE is 2 slot again finally, which is impressive
5090 AIB models might be 500 slot but the FE is 2
yeah presumably nvidia didn't like that either, hence the new design
not a person who does liquid cooling, eh?
Just get the version with an AIO cooler.
I've 0 interest in AIB cards though. NVIDIA keeps the gold samples for themselves and does not overclock out of the box, but will overclock to higher speed than the oversized overpriced AIB models.
Nope, zero interest in having liquids in my PC
nvidia has been cutting production of fe cards for generations
they just make enough for ppl to feel the msrp is low
so no heat pipes either?
/s
no capacitors!
but they've got what the plants crave!
just soak the whole pc in oil
If I get one it will definitely lean strongly towards being an FE model if I can, or one of the lowest cost AIB ones otherwise, none of the fancy 5 slot supermega RGB with a built in 4k display and 8 power cables nonsense to get 5% more out of the box speed.
you mean the oil based cooling they have been showing off for about 30 years now that is just that, something to show off
- and a guy wire to stop the card from snapping in half under its own weight
yuh
yuh thats cool
bit above ambient temp*, but yeah
all i can think of is how much havok that will wreck on anything, oil is not kind to most elastomers
materials-wise I wonder if it's less of a headache to conformal coat everything and just dunk it in water at that rate. obviously won't work with connectors but just theoretically
probably cools better too
cools better yes
I have seen many "oil bath" computers that just cycle the oil to keep things cool.
yeah the idea is just drown the thing with the enormous thermal mass of that amount of oil. what's more interesting is what would be the steady state of that system?
whenever the heat transfer to air from the surfaces equal the thermal input
which is pretty low surface area :P
it equalizes at some point, or it starts boiling and you throw in the fries
speaking of fries
why's it all brown??
Fire meal
those tacos look too cold?
Lossless Scaling?
It can go up to 20x
But don't expect it to be good at that amount
I think maybe you could squeeze x6 in if base frame rate is 80, so 80>480
And artifacts would be tolerable to a lot of people, but definitely not minor
x2 works extremely well for about 50 fps, relatively minor artifacts
Nah, just super fresh toppings
They are quite BOMB
If @amber sparrow isn't there with 4 layered Polos (all popped collars), peg legged Levi 501's, no socks and Sperry topsiders and 1/2 a can of AquaNet.... is it really 80s night????
Settle for deadpool riding a unicorn?
and... don't forget the 3 Swatch watches..
ok... Acceptable....barely
@serene arrow would you accept a DM request just about smth on a side not?
Absolutely, go for it!
Is that a on fire capybara on your pfp?
π
||Most definitely stolen from another server||
can i post that in an Italian discord?
Not my photo so sure
they are upset
rat
but good eye, people rarely see it
Today's drink menu
only drink i like is rum with ginger beer
heh I just had plantation for the first time a few weeks ago, pretty good
Kinda looks like focaccia with toppings. Yum!
All 5 of them?
By a looooong shot
3
there's 5?
cowabunga is calling my name
11, 12, 8 no?
The one with Frank Sinatra?
he means the female one and the 60s one
female one? eyes emoji
need to watch the original first.
Dude, right?
Original Oceans 11, the trilogy with 11, 12 and 13, and then the all female cast oceans 8
Lemme get one real quick
i know what you meant lol
And 8 wasnt bad
his sister
oh right there was a 13
i lied, d9 seltzer is calling my name even more
you know I'm not 100% sure I've seen 8
daddy, why do you have small fingers?
is the D9 drink even legal where you are?!? π
Bro they sell thc/cbd drinks at target here hahaha
and that is not a sentence to take out of context dear lord
loopholes....but whatever, dumb laws it should be legal everywhere.
I think they derive the thc from hemp not Marijuana
ah
Changes stuff for some.odd reason
if we're posting pizza pics I will add to the mix, this is a pizza I had not that long ago....looked so good I had to take a picture
oh thats actual pizza
I made pizza today (from scratch) but didn't take a photo
π
Instant ramen pizza? Which flavor of ramen?
pizza
I need to get back to making my chili cheese dog pizzas. It always offends people sensibilities when I tell them that I put pickles and mustard on it. Itβs like, the fact that itβs a βPizzaβ makes those things invalid, even though the whole thing tastes like a chili cheese dog
Pizza is a concept, the very bottom of the βcube ruleβ, a simple delivery method
Sounds good to me! I've made cheeseburger pizza with mustard before. Add fresh tomatoes and shredded lettuuce after bake. Good stuff!
Picked up some dessert to go from.the event
Hell yeah!
Little mom and daughter business set up selling them
They are pretty good
Was very much a "support local business" event
Excellent motivation, and the treats are a bonus!
it did not work after the stream ended
someone said this.. I thought ffmpeg was only used for the final merging and stuff.... no? maybe a very basic version is included?
eh, anyway, definitely some kind of bug with the length of the stream....
Question for any gaming streamers or other types of streamers. Do you have a vertical monitor in your set up and if so, what do you use it for?
elevators
vertical monitors are best for keeping track of chat and discord
Huh?
Is that a game?
no, it's a think that gets you from one floor to another without you needing to walk up or down the stairs
LOL

I have a stacked 1440p monitor where I keep the main window/canvas on while I've got all the docks IGAF about on the portrait.
When it's a 4k monitor you've got plenty of room for activities
Just sucks that scaling on app windows is a crapshoot with text >.<
windows boo
Tht looks good now hungry
Oh, no! My package has been delayed. Guess I need to click this completely harmless link to correct my info.
Pls fix
Kthx
They tryna use the big words too, ambigious
yuh.. a govmnt agncy gona use shurt txt 2 comunikat info 2 u
they value ur rapid response
So I streamed to YouTube the other day, and the live dashboard exclusively said I wasn't live (Not connected). But the API it called to check & populate the screen said otherwise. Wonder if that's caused by a chrome extension I have installed, or just buggy code on their end. o.O

Hello. Hope I can find something good for an old school buddy. He and another buddy from our old boarding school from over 40 years ago are gearing up to do online blogging, and knowing that I went through a video production program in college nearly 35 years ago have asked me to take a look at this program to see if they can work with it better then just Zoom. I just downloaded it, and will go through the guides over the next few days, but a quick question I have is that there an accessibility feature to change font size? (My buddy is legally blind, so bigger font size would help.)
Anyways, I look forward to chatting and discovering things here.
Hi is there a multiple streaming all at the same time being worked on
Multistreaming
No, just the plugins that are available.
@kindred bridge Windows has DPI scaling settings that affect all applications, including obs-studio. I made a visual style that increases the default font size, but it's no longer compatible with newer obs-studio versions, maybe I should remake it.
im looking to get some cable organizers and i was wonder what ppl recommend nowadays?
I recommend just haphazardly plugging in cables and letting them express themselves. π
one way or another you're going to end with a lovecraftian horror
but like any good lovecraftian horror you shouldnt be able to see it
The Call of Cablethulhu
I love things like this.
nice
these seem okay
i can at least mount my powerstrip
i got one of these last year and it worked great
the other arm types take up too much room behind the monitor
i had a dual monitor arm and i hated how one would always be a little off
I prefer 3 single monitor arms vs. 1 built for all 3
Whatever style hooks bolted up under the desk serves me well

I think i dont enjoy playing games anymore but i might enjoy watching some games
anybody know how to run windows games on mac apple sillicon?
:3
I've figured out how to do this in OBS, now I'm trying to work out if it's worthwhile... Does anyone know if it's possible to import videos with multiple audio tracks into Adobe Premiere Elements 2020?
!remux have you tried remuxing the video file first out of OBS before importing it?
Remuxing allows you to copy video and audio from one MKV/FLV to another video container format for use in players and editors that do not support MKV/FLV. This process is safe, lossless, and takes seconds.
To remux any recordings made with OBS Studio:
- In OBS Studio, click the File menuΒ βΒ Remux Recordings
- Click on the β¦ (three dots) button, then select your MKV or FLV file
- Click on the Remux button
(after confirming it actually has multiple audio tracks in a player like VLC)
I don't know about elements, but it definitely works in the full premiere.
I don't even know what remuxing is...
follow the instructions the bot posted π
Yeah, I have, but what does it do and how can it help me?
It literally tells you, in the post: "Remuxing allows you to copy video and audio from one MKV/FLV to another video container format for use in players and editors that do not support MKV/FLV. This process is safe, lossless, and takes seconds."
Remuxing makes a new copy of your recording in more compatible format for you use.
I knew it said that, I just didn't know what any of it meant. My problem is that I don't see how this helps, considering that Premiere Elements works fine when there's only 1 audio track, so I'm assuming it does support MKV/FLV.
But it may not support mkv/flv with multiple audio tracks, when it more likely to support mp4 with multiple audio tracks.
In all fairness, this is a Premiere issue. Not sure what Elements supports. We have seen lots of people have issues with any Premiere product and multiple audio tracks, no matter the container.
have you tried it? it just puts it all in a new container, which often helps the Adobe Premiere lineup of video editors cause they act up all the time
Still only imports track one...
have you verified the video contains multiple audio tracks via VLC or a similar video player?
If I import it into Audacity, there are 2 audio tracks, though for some reason the second one is empty when it's supposed to have my mic...
Though that was the case even without remuxing.
maybe Premiere just tries to be smart for you and discords the 2nd track as it's empty, try again with some content in it, otherwise assume that it doesn't support it π
Ok, OBS doesn't seem to be recording my mic. Just making some adjustments.
does the mic source meter move in the OBS audio mixer, when you speak?
Hmmm... No...
is the track also selected for recording in the Output -> Recording tab?
Yes.
Might want to head to #audio-support to troubleshoot the mic, if you need assistance with that.
Thing is, it worked fine when both were going into audio track 1...
Nothing seems wrong with the track settings and recording settings.
But... Now it doesn't, even if I revert to one audio track...
FWIW, I'm pretty sure the issues people have with multiple audio tracks and (full) premiere are user error, not premiere. I use multiple audio tracks in premiere all the time and have for years, and they're used pretty often in professional contexts, too. (no clue about elements)
Right, #audio-support
true, and I trust you to know what you're doing. Just seems like sometimes Premiere doesn't work for some people, but now I wonder how often it may be Elements too, not the full version.
One of these days I'll actually manage to catch someone that's having issues and get their files and figure out what's going on.
Am I correct in remembering that you need to do a couple extra clicks to import all tracks, they don't show up the moment you import? Every time I google it I find different answers (probably Google's fault to be fair)
In general, no special handling is required, but unless you're doing "create sequence from clip", you do need to make sure your sequence has enough audio tracks in it to hold all of the clip's audio track, and they have to be selected as being eligible targets (the 'A1', 'A2', etc to the left of the track in the timeline). Neither of those things is particular to multi-track audio, they're just a normal part of how premiere works.
Ah, that makes sense! Thanks!
If someone is having trouble, though, a good starting point would be having them find the clip in the project window, and right click > new sequence from clip, and see if they have what they were expecting at that point, since that'll create a sequence whose dimensions match that source clip.
I will add this to my notes, much appreciated!
Feel free to ping me if you run across something that seems to not match up with what I'm saying here and I can totally grab files and figure out what the story is. Premiere has plenty of flaws (and I do mean plenty) but it's a little irritating to see everything involving Premiere instantly dismissed as "lol, Premiere sucks", when in reality it's a pretty capable editor and people absolutely do edit entire theatrical movies (like, serious big budget blockbuster movies, not little indy things) with it and it sucks we just kind of dismiss it out of hand so often.
Thanks so much, I might!
(and just to be clear, Premiere does suck in a lot of ways, and isn't something I'd normally recommend to someone who just wants to do some basic video editing and doesn't have many other specific requirements, but much like complaints about windows or microsoft, there's already so many legit problems to bitch about, there's really no reason to make-believe new ones!)
Agreed! Let the real problems shine haha
Just snagged myself a Steelcase leap v2 from a local place that refurbishes them
HELL YEA
I shoulda pulled the trigger in a very gently used one a few months ago
Actually this guy still has some available. Most of what he lists is office chairs. Pretty sure he goes into businesses that are shutting the doors and buys their good shit
That's basically all he lists
I'm trying to decide what to watch. Renfield or the guilty π€
I personally thought renfield was trash. I shut it off halfway in
The guilty was realllly good imho
Yea I was leaning towards the guilty
I'm still surprised how good carry on was. Netflix finally putting out good movies
Netflix has had pretty good originals for a while. You drunk
I don't drink
Well someone slipped you something
The best thing Netflix does are the documentaries
Docs > shows > movies
American vandal is 20/10 show and it's a crime they didn't renew it
American Vandal was fantastic
They dont regularly renew things because they are cheap and was a big reason for the writer strike
heh yeah these are crazy deals
this one was nice because the guy had just replaced all the fabric on it and pulled all the wheels off the deep clean
The really nice thing about getting those office refurbs (or even in-need-of-refurb) is that they're designed to be reparable and the parts to do so are available, so in addition to being pretty durable, you can also, y'know... fix them.
Reading the comments, I think the best advice here is to just slow down, take a deep breath, and try to explain clearly what you're looking for help with. You seem to be jumping to conclusions and unable to properly communicate what the problem is. As a note, the reddit is an unofficial place that is not directly managed by the project, per reddit's policies.
The advice is honestly a lot dicier on the sub, too.
The community support here is much better, with lots of eyes.
reddit bad
i cant post otter pics there
oh nice
True RGB OLED Monitor - TCL Inkjet 4K (CES 2025)
Context for the next time, please. I thought that was link to otter pics/video, based on your previous post.
i had to take my bandage off
I wonder when oleds are going to have the normal subpixel layout
so we can stop having fringes around text
The issue isn't OLED, the issue is Microsoft refusing to make or adopt a better font renderer. Windows 11 already uses greyscale in some places, but this is far from an adequate fix for present and future issues.
well the video i posted is that
I thought "true rgb" meant "not WOLED" but I guess it meant "normal pixels"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QlN2khQd5Sc i didnt see anyone cover these
its the cooler master heatsinks
that look like engines
it dosnt look bad
i thought it would look super cheap
its colored to look like metal
its a shame because i think they had some cool stuff
but nobody went to their table
also the oled "color bleed" around objects happens with far more than just text. I just returned one because it looks absolutely horrid on basically every straight horizontal line on the display.
0/10 would not recommend.
Got an IPS display instead, looks worlds better to me.
I haven't used OLED long enough to have any opinion on it besides "ew, burn in" (seen it on one Android device, big ew). IPS seems fine for the most part, but I'd still choose TN, viewing angles don't matter if you're the only one doing the viewing.
Yes? @civic quarry wtf is it? ID: 1326706665172762756?
I usally have all DMs disabled. So i'm not sure how you got through but what's up are you a scammer? What do you want?
I've rather enjoyed my OLED
I have an OLED tv and it's great but I've seen the fringing on OLED computer displays and I know it would drive me mad
I have a G9 TV as well and it's great for that, yeah
as a PC display, 0/10 do not want.
well once the regular side-by-side subpixel layout like the photo above becomes more common it should be better
Or G3? whatever this is.
I have a C8, still going strong
stopped using all the smart stuff though, I just use an apple tv for that
I've had my 65" A1E since whenever it came out, probably like 2018? None of those issues mentioned but at the same time my friend has an OLED computer monitor and hates it for the mentioned reasons
you don't really notice it on TVs because a) viewing distance and b) content doesn't show the problem as much
i really want mini led ips to be good
unless you're using a 65" as a computer monitor on a desk which would be wild
you cant stop me
is it a good idea to use se live
absolutely not π
I think I won the panel lottery though if I'm being honest
I hope so much people start growing up not age but how they act with someone
mine has a couple of dead spots around the edges
only noticeable if I stand next to it and look for them
hello
Hello π
hello
encode is improved for newer cards like Rtx 5xxx series only?
I don't think they can remove the encoder silicon from the 4000 series and older, and replace it with updated silicon with new features. π
yes only 50 and 9000 series stuff
Hopefully 9000 series can encode AV1 properly this time
If so, AMD'll be like.... ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCKED!

Wow, the trailer for The Blood of Dawnwalker by Rebel Wolves looks friggen amazing! I almost never buy new release games but this is looking like an Instabuy. Will have to wait for their future reveal trailers though.
how many clams out of 10?
is it like vampire the masquerade?
looks like Arkham combat
It looks like The Witcher 3 but with badass scary vampires. Looks friggen awesome
Will wait to see how it is looking closer to launch, and maybe buy it the day before and just hold onto it for a few days/week to see how it reviews and post-launch sentiment if it has any meaningful/useful preorder bullcrap. Then refund if it is trash, or play it if it is good.
it looks like its a 2027 game
thaat trailer was a recruitment advertisment

looking for unreal devs
Makes sense, since they left CDPR somewhere around spring 2021 or so IIRC, so probably took some time to put together a studio, get some funding together, etc. and then the conceptuals for the game, then get working on it, hire some people etc. For a smaller studio, 5+ years makes sense.
yeah and theres very very little funding
for games right now
they might be self funding it
They've got Bandai Namco at least
Looks like they have twice as many people at Rebel Wolves working on the game than Cyberpunk Project Orion has working on it yet.
Bandai as a company is really nice
Which probably means that they are deeper into their development cycle and got some badass funding.
they make a lot of AA games
yeah bandai has MONEY
look at their games list
therse almost no live service games
just games that make 10x what they cost
Are there any Russian or mandarin speakers here? Looking for help with a project
hey mods theres a guy impersonating a streamer the id is 1290631559459897425
i can send more in dms if youre curious
If you were messaged by a user who you suspect may be malicious, scamming, a bot, etc, we recommend reporting these users to the Discord Trust and Safety team so that they can be addressed appropriately. We strongly encourage users to be mindful of DMs they receive from users who are in any public Discord server.
Please report any suspicious private messages to Discord, either by using the Report Spam button in a DM, or by reporting it directly to Discord Trust and Safety
Has the account broken any server rules?
he randomly added me, prolly a ton of other people too
the scam accounts always do that
Yes, and that's not controlled by the server. That's your Privacy settings.
reguardless, its a fake scam account and needs to be dealt with
we arnt discord police
All these accounts are "fakes" and virtual. None of use are real.
different person
you must be fun at parties
Not talk to strangers. Don't accept candy from creepy guys in vans down by the river.
no but the mods can kick the scammer out of the server
The simple point is, unless the account has broken server rules, what reason do you have for kicking them?
why is this so difficult for you guys to grasp
The same can be said for you.
im not a scam account
And I'm only stating it as a difference in opinion.
and i have picture proof
Fenrir is the Community Manager here and in that post explained this common situation.
No, that you aren't grasping that the account in question has not broken a server rule. So why ban them on your word they are a scammer? Or some other bad faith account?
Plenty of people can fake DM screenshots. OBS mods have a proven track record of not wanting to police DMs and interaction between members that happen outside of the server.
And Discord already has privacy settings per server, that you control.
fucking hell youre annoying
only reason i even joined this server was to get some tech support that never got fucking addressed
and now a scam account is going around using someone elses fame to phish people and that wont get addressed i guess either
I have been told that, many times. Doesn't change the advice.
As for your issue not getting addressed, it's possible that no one at the time you posted knew how to help. Looks like your last posts in December, you were helped by Ace, one of the Project members. And you said you had to go.
i even contacted the person theyre impersonating just to cross reference it
well, his server mods anyways
That's a good strategy, I do that for ones I can find too. Between that and discord support, it should be taken care of eventually.
thats what im saying, these scammers have to know they arent welcome
I reverse troll them
btw the thing ace was telling me about wasnt even my issue
They aren't welcome in my DMs. Are you saying they have posted in this server? Which channel.
Fenrir's post explains why mods here don't act upon this stuff. Too sticky.
no they havent posted here, the scammers prefer the dms
Then maybe try again. Lots of experienced helpers online right now, and it's slow in support.
Which circles back to, not this server's issue. Take the power you have from Discord into your own hands.
When that happens, you respond and say it wasn't the right solution for you. Saying nothing doesn't let anyone know you still need help
cause i had to go and forgot until today lol
It happens. So post your issue in the correct channel and folks can help
except one problem, the family i was waiting for to arrive at my house just pulled up in the driveway
so ill have to do it after
hopefully someone knows a solution cause my current method involves running obs twice
If you need help or have questions about OBS, check out our #support-portal first!
that was the first place i went when i joined
Whenever you are available to troubleshoot, post for help

btw i leave it on for mutual servers cause i have friends that may make an alt after getting hacked or i get someone i havent seen in ages and its always nice to have those moments (friend getting hacked is bad but having them as a window to contact me is good cause i do moderate/admin a few servers)
but anyways, i gotta go
sends another cookie recipe and an insult to her latest scam DM
Cookie scam? Wow
Man, twitch needs to stop having you follow raids on a paused player
Either BTTV or 7TV have an option to NOT automatically follow a raid
fckin hell, why i can only find cpu coolers with stup leds
There are plenty without RGB.
Be quiet! for example
not looking there π
i think i will go with the TR Assasin Evo(without leds)
there are some really good ones, like the Arctic 36, but it would be overkill for the 5700X3D
kinda crazy how underwhelming CMs options seems nowdays
I'm sure cooler master is very happy being the OEM for a bunch of other companies
one of my favorite movie premises is a movie that is mostly set in 1 location. This usually means low budget, but when they pull it right, its AMAZING. Like Dredd
also
brad pitt asked me to marry him, should i? he wants me to send $10,000 first to show my devotion
These romance scams are so awful. Johnny Depp put out a message recently saying broadly that neither he nor his team will contact you over the internet, and anything like that is a scam
the worst part of these scams is knowing that the victims were already in such a low point in their lives that it clouded their judgement to that extreme
and that was before getting scammed
Oh yeah. Very sad.
poking fun at scam victims is how scams proliferate. the only thing it ends up doing is embarrass anyone else who has fallen for a scam, making it that much less likely they'll tell anyone about it
anyway now that my soapbox moment is over, I took in an orchid that one of my slob neighbors threw in the recycling bin (??) last month and it's starting to flower again!
most victims dont even know they are being scammed to even talk about it until the police or bank or something contacts them
if you send $800,000 to someone you never met over a period of a year, then you are an idiot
this has nothing to do with shaming
people need to be educated
and she even got divored for this stranger too
im mostly surprised how a lot of the victims are usually wealthy people
I love rescuing plants like that! I have a couple snowberry bushes and some sort of flowers that were being thrown out from a neighborhood yard sale. Makes me feel proud to make something grow!
One of the flowering plants was promptly eaten by deer though and died LOL
There's a mama deer and her two younglings we've been seeing around for a couple years, I don't mind feeding them our plants on accident, they're so pretty.
Ooh, nice! Gonna be lovely
it's mostly doing okay, but showing some signs of stress. it was overwatered when I got it, you can see one of the buds in the background is yellowed which is a sign of that
one of the leaves was split in half lengthways when I got it, but it seems to be functioning just fine. hasn't rotted or anything
nearly hour and a half vid from GN about Honey, this'll be good
Alright! Something to watch while I work out.
Indeed, especially that takes place entirely or mostly in a single room or confined space. I've seen some amazing movies that mostly had one room or one confined space or location for the whole movie. Some notable ones include: The Tape, Buried, Phone Booth, Open Water, The Telephone
They're all great movies IMHO because there is like 1 to 3 actors making up 95-100% of the entire movie, and they are on camera the entire time in one confined space to act, and they have to keep your attention and interest throughout the whole film using only the story and their acting skills. To do that for 90+ minutes is just impressive to me.
The Tape is 95% 2 people talking to each other in a single motel room, never leaving or any other scenes, with a 3rd person showing up near the very end.
I think what I find so appealing about these kind of movies is that on the surface they sound super boring AF, but they were all so good purely from the actor's talent that I couldn't stop watching.
Dude Buried was fantastic. And not just because Ryan Reynolds
safe room is a classic that sticks out in my head immediately for "single location" movies
Safe Room was really good too
i mean, the original saw was basically all in that room too
lots of good ones coming to mind
The Guilty basically is single location. Very good if ya haven't seen it
Clerks(mostly counts I'd think)
also I got the name wrong, I meant panic room
Jodie Foster right?
yeah
I knew what you meant and I went with the wrong name too
oh heres a good one that if you haven't seen you have to watch....one of my favorites all time: Cube
there are a few but the first one is just perfect
Cube is a good one.
Heh there's a wiki page for single location movies
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_films_set_in_a_single_location
Inside was quite something
Some movies pull off the one location very well. Others, though...
Reservoir Dogs is listed but I don't fully agree
It does say "mostly in a warehouse"
yeah you could probably add some to that list depending on how small you want to get....like the village was all in that tiny village
Just finished it a few minutes ago. It was ok but I was expecting something different I guess
Phone booth is great
Yeah, I was like... how will this be entertaining, in such a confined space... I dunno man... but it was great
Yes, I guess the Clerks movies qualify as well.
I'm thinking of watching training day. Haven't since it's initial release
Oh yeah, saw that one too, great movie.
Yeah, not sure if I'd agree with that one either, although it comes close. Another one that almost fits the bill is Moon starring Sam Rockwell, and the voice of Kevin Spacey. It has the similar vibe, although not confined to a single room.
There was another one I'm trying to remember the name of where a bunch of people wake up locked in a warehouse and have no idea how they got there, but they all have weapons and don't know why. They all got amnesia from an explosion that happened.
Dredd is one of the better 1 location movies
Ah, the movie in the warehouse is called Unknown: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0450340/
Does it really count
I really loved Moon. Rockwell is fantastic in it.
Yeah, great movie
https://www.techpowerup.com/331101/amd-implements-new-ccd-connection-in-strix-halo-ryzen-ai-max-processors strix halo is using a new interconnect that should greatly reduce ccd to ccd latency
if anyone sees a test of this i would like to see it
If you haven't seen Mute yet, made by the same studio, there's a big Easter Egg from Moon in it
hybrid bonding?
Hmm, it doesn't call it that so possibly not. I wonder if Zen 6 desktop will use that. Would be awesome to get 24 cores with lower CCD to CCD latency.
its about damn time
medusa is their new stuff
An important power issue that came up is that laptops are often in different power states, whereas desktops are more likely to be always on. The interconnect between dies needed to change while sticking to the same bandwidth. AMD moved to a different but costlier interconnect that's βalmost instant on and off stateless because itβs just a sea of wires going across,β said Subramony.
Frequency takes a hit compared with the desktop Zen 5 CCDs, Subramony points out, but thatβs the price of getting them into laptops. On the upside, the Ryzen AI Max APU has the full 512-bit FPU.
so you are saying there wouldnt be a freq hit on desktop
seems cool
Translates to "NVIDIA can sell AI hardware to China for 4 more months, so prioritizes sending everything they make to China and creating scarcity of high end parts everywhere else, opening the market for scalpers selling $3000-4000 5090 "token silicon" on Amazon, then in 4 months when the embargo goes into effect, NVIDIA starts producing chips for other markets and the prices of the cards go down from scalper inflation but higher than MSRP because people are used to paying more for things, so they fine tune the price pain inflection point to maximize profit."
Do yall where I can find mods for my twitch stream chat??
"Price Pain Inflection Point"
Viewers / friends that you trust 100% as well as those who "know" what it is to be a MOD. I know partner streamers who have no mods because they know their community.
Find people you trust, like close personal friends/followers
Streamers typically hand select mods from their regular users, or people they trust. Personally I would avoid having mods unless it is absolutely necessary. SceneOfAction has been streaming on Twitch for like 9 years now with audience size ranging from 150-300 people per stream, and upwards of that on big raids with only 2 moderators the whole time, only one of whom is usually present on a given stream.
I went with my most major donor and person who kept me afloat financially for a year including by making sure I was fed, the closest friend I have ever made online, and my ex boyfriend who I'm still insanely close with
Those are the types of people who should be mods. Not just random people.
I think streamers focus too much on moderators that are often completely unnecssary IMHO.
Exactly, mod your own chat
I guarantee you if you don't have at least 30 viewers you can mod it yourself
SceneOfAction mods his chat more or less by making amazing content, so if someone comes to troll, they end up subscribing and/or buying gift subs instead. Now that's how you mod your chat.
Some people need mods to keep the streamer in line.
<my wife side-eyes me whenever I open my mouth>
I have 0 viewers lol
And even with 1 mod in chat most of the time, the amount of times she has to actually do anything is like once a month or more.
With 0 viewers, definitely don't need mods.
And even if choosing a mod from regulars, just because someone is a regular frequent viewer doesn't mean they have the communication or other skills to be an effective moderator, which can lead to having to relieve their mod status later, and typically results in losing a regular viewer as they feel wronged for losing their status symbol (which is what being a mod on Twitch often is more about than anything)
My #1 rule for mods is to never make someone a mod who wants to be a mod.
1,000,000%
goes for any position of power
I love your pfp so much btw
Dawww. π
yup, absolutely... if someone asks/volunteers without any prompting, silently add them to the "never" list
I don't entirely agree with that, although it can be the case a lot of the time.
some people are eager to help/be apart of a community in whatever way they can.
Only a matter of months to years until AI can take on the role as good or better than a random person I surmise anyway.
Yeah, I wouldn't say it is all encompassing but a good general rule.
if its someone you dont already know and who hasnt been in the community at all, first time chatter who asks to be mod, that has always been a "nah" in my book.
someone who has been around in the community already, thats different
It's also possible for people to be too eager to help, and end up being a problem.
But yes, every rule has its exceptions.
Though tbh, people who really want to help are already helping and don't need to be a mod to help.
I think a better paradigm is to not have mods and have the community know it is intentional and why, and then should the need arise on a stream such as a big raid where assistance is needed or some other special circumstance, to reach out to individuals that might be worthy to ask them if they would volunteer to be a temporary mod for the duration of the current stream or similar. Modding with a pre-known expiry date. Then over time from the people who have served as temp mods, if they worked out well, they become candidates for a more ongoing role should one be needed.
But because of the limited up front known duration they don't feel slighted for being modded and then having it removed.
I'm a mod in about 40 streams. I helped most get set up with streaming. I never feel as if I need to be in their stream to MOD. I help out as I can and help others with MOD stuff when I can.
That has been my approach to modding also, for those who have asked me to mod in the past. Those streamers eventually stopped streaming and I've cut back on watching Twitch and participating in the platform much since those days though, so currently I'm not actively modding anymore, however like you said, the best say is to just be helpful part of a community, contributing positive value whenever possible. I'd rather do that than have a mod badge anyway.
Just need to be in a good mindframe and try to stick with that.

very much content creator relevant, as this could have effected anyone offering affiliate link based content.
Also, the bit from Linus was just the worst.
Video is GamersNexus suing PayPal and Honey
Strix Halo is very interesting in lots of ways, but honestly I'm more interested in what comes after. Yes 16c zen5 with 40cu rdna 3.5 and a sweet mempool is interesting, but yeah I wanna see what's after. The UDNA based stuff, possibly with zen6, hell maybe even higher mem bandwith than 256GB/s
but the concept is most def there and I like it
I'm wondering if AMD is going to have anything to compete with DIGITS, and if so when. Would be nice to see some competition beyond just Apple and NVIDIA for such a hardware device.
Would be nice if AMD had a competing device on rough par, at 2/3 the price.
I think there is 0% chance that they are capable of doing that
Nor would they have the interest to, just not mass market enough
What I'd like to see with the chip proposed above is AMDs version of the mac studio if that makes sense
Depends on the timeframe IMHO. CDNA is pretty powerful, and they are working on their own ARM processor that might be coming out later this year, and I'm sure they'll be using things they learned making Ryzen on it so I suspect AMD ARM (Soundwave) to have the potential to be as powerful as anyone else's ARM processors if they want them to be. On the GPU side of things the offering might be weaker but I suspect the GPU in DIGITs is weak also. The big thing is having enough AI cores to hit a certain performance target, but having access to 128GB of unified HBM or similar. They annouced some laptops that sound like they are geared towards competing against Macs that sounded like they might have similar features in that respect. So an AMD device like DIGITS would just be either making an x86_64 Mac Mini type clone and beefing up XDNA, and jamming 128GB of HBM in it or something. Not undoable IMHO, but I would agree it is probably not likely in 2025.
A slightly bigger than nuc machine that does everything I could wish for
x86_64 based, nice udna gpu, 128 gigs mem as a single pool shared across gpu and cpu, running me lin distro of choice
Yeah, that's basically what I'm suggesting too more or less, but also with ARM variant. I don't see why AMD can't make an ARM CPU as good or better than NVIDIA.
And nobody really knows how good NVIDIA's will be yet. I'm assuming AMD can match or beat.
AMD's biggest problem is that they like to let someone else make the big moves first, then rush to try to catch up later.
Just entirely different things those two companies are able to do at this point, AMD isnβt even worth 5% of what NVIDIA is so the idea they would be able to produce something as good and sell for 2/3 the cost does seem far fetched.
x86s as intel calls it at that point, ie 64bit only with 32bit userland compat
Well, Apple is significantly bigger than AMD also, and AMD makes processors that wipe the floor with anything Apple Mx silicon can do.
and why'd something that does the exact same (or even better) cost 2/3rds just cause it says amd
They would not be a first mover, so NVIDIA will have established market share and mind share, especially from their history with AI and CUDA, so AMD would have to be cheaper or have other advantages or nobody would buy them unless NVIDIA hardware has a 2 year waiting list.
right, all without arm
if amd does do arm machines they better be systemready uefi machines
otherwise it's useless junk, in my mind π
I feel like ARM shooting itself in the foot is gonna be the biggest roadblock to that
the current state with arm consumer hardware is: Whelp you better hope that yer distro of choice supports your specific device model
with it being amd we won't have the gpu support issue no more, but yeah
don't like the device tree stuffs for actual computers, I just wanna be able to run stuff
But on desktop in much larger machines, etc. Not sure an x86_64 chip can compete 1:1 in a similar form factor or not. Don't think anyone makes anything like that yet do they? Like say, a 9950X in a deck of cards package like that NVIDIA thing or even something the size of a consumer router.
Maybe one of those Ryzen AI Max+ Super Mega blah blah chips they announced with 16 cores
idk about 9950X but lattepandas have been around for a while now
an arm cpu with the performance of a 9950x can't exactly be stuffed into a consumer router either
I'm thinking more HX hardware
yeah like for example with strix halo they could easily make a mac studio competitor that wipes the floor with said mac studio
But it needs the NPU built in too
not even something amd would have to do, all that's needed is an SI that goes "hm yah, that's an idea!"
which strix halo does have
strix halo is the soc design
the hx chips are the desktop ones but as BGA for chonky laptops
yup
I get the code names all mixed up as there are like 5000 codenames
expand the AMD part naming decoder wheel
Ridges and halos and points and dragons and lakes and ...
asus (yeah I know, ew, but whatever) had a strix halo TABLET at CES
But the machines made with these, are they going to be using DDR5 like a standard PC, or will they use HBM or DDR5X or whatever for unified memory, and jam 128GB in them
that would be interesting, to get a box like that with 128GB. I don't want a laptop configuration, I want a deck of cards or router sized magic AI box.
lpddr5x, 8 chips
unfied, shared across cpu&gpu
I hope someone makes a device, whether it is ASUS or whoever, to see how they stack up. There is a niche demand for such at least, and it's going to grow like mad in the next year plus IMHO. There are plenty of use cases where CPU architecture is irrelevant, but some where having AMD64 is relevant. Personally given comparable results and pricing, I'd prefer to stick to AMD64 arch, but wouldn't be opposed to ARM if the price is right.
Ability to run something like llama 3.3 90b or Deepseek's comparably sized model, etc. on the LAN locally and get usable t/s out of it, would be baller.
strix halo ITX
2 camm2 modules of 64 gig each to get me the 128 gig pool
and off I go
stick it into a streacom db1
if there's gonna be machines like that out on the market in a more barebones fashion I wouldn't say no either
like mini pcs are all the rage these days, why not expand that upwards in the clientele department by adding strix halo options
I hope we'll see a variety of new products with options like that. Sure beats trying to buy 2-4 90 class NVIDIA GPUs and try to figure out a motherboard and CPU that has enough PCIE lanes to handle the hardware, etc. Having actually viable solution in a box will be nice, and at better price points. The performance wont be like a high end GPU, but the intelligence use case is much higher from larger models.
I can see a future where all devs at least and lots of other productive people have a main PC, plus a tiny AI supercomputer thingie on their desk or mounted to the back of their monitor.
gpu perf of 40cu rdna 3.5 is gonna be more than enough frankly, the issue always was "aw shit out of memory"
yup, for non gaming stuff, and uses where no 3D craziness or other heavy GPU use needed, that's fine.
Hey look that strix halo no doubt absolutely smashes me 5700xt
that 5700xt is 40cu too, buut... rdna1
and like I wonder what a sh 395 can do when you pair it with a 128 gig pool and max out the ctdp to 120
which is why I proposed ITX
cause yeah the db1 wouldn't be enough if ya let it ball, buut something slightly bigger and off we go, all passively
That could be smokin. Would be nice to see options to go to 256GB also, now that 405b / 671b models are avail too.
I'd be happy to be able to run large models like those, even if it is just 20-30 t/s or so, would be more than usable.
no cause like with strix halo and especially it's successors my dream of a fully passive machine that is smol is, well, alive
all that's needed is for companies to actually offer em
With the push to agentic underway, I imagine we'll see more and more products firing out into the marketplace like a machinegun over the next 2 years.
Not sure if this is a bad thing to ask, but is the r/TechSupport Discord server actually any good? (Just wondering since it's in one of the bot commands)
Ahh, looks like the 20 ARM cores on DIGITS, are big/little design with 2 different ARM core types.
i expect amd to start making arm cpus now that nvidia is doing it
they have probably already been prototyping behind the scenes
AMD's already announced their ARM CPU last year, it is called Soundwave
or it's leaked... one or the other
It might be nice if we could realistically ditch ARM for RISC-V already... Just cut the corporate shenanigans of ARM out of the middle.
yeah the real question is gonna be who wants to deal with ARM's shenanigans, especially after the whole qualcomm debacle
(Though RISC-V is just an ISA and not really a full CPU/design, so realistically we'd end up with some companies in the middle providing an actual full solution for others to use. Analogous to ARM's off the shelf cores, Qualcomm's chips, or like intel's/AMD's roles implementing the de-facto usable versions of x86.)
easier to use "ISA" and "IP" for the distinction between the two
Edited a bit hopefully that's better
I think some of the mess with poor desktop OS support for ARM is that ARM solutions ("IP") are kinda fragmented and not all as similar to each-other as intel's/AMD's x86 CPUs are to each-other.
I am getting so frustrated in w-s
This person genuinely needs their hand held and it's torture
there are companies that sell RISC-V IPs like sifive, pretty sure there are some microchip parts using their IP cores
yeah that was scary
i think many companies are looking to port away from arm
Sorry to hear that :/
also it means companies that have arm ip
if they are bought then NONE of that is included
so you invest billions into something that you cant keep
it's also been around for quite a while in research, one of my professors was modifying a risc-v architecture for use in computers exclusively running optimistic simulations
im sure they are getting a lot more investment now
and I only found out about that in... 2012? something like that. I'm sure he'd been working on that for a while even then
they are culling 12th gen mobile now
they really want oems to use the new stuff
but its selling bad
really bad
lunar lake had only 1.5 million chips created in 2024
i saw it created because who knows if they were put into anything
when did production start on them?
aug i think
I used to get pretty frustrated with people too... not specifically in there, but just in "support" channels in general for anything. Best thing I ever did was tell myself "you know, you can just not engage, not respond, and let the person's problem continue to be their problem, and not make it your problem". π Massive peace of mind. So now when I do offer any help to anyone voluntarily, I may remind myself of this during the conversation, and at any point it isn't feeling good, I just walk away, even in mid conversation. It's ok for someone else to have an unsolved problem.
I mean 1.5 million is a number. it doesn't really mean much with no context
Budget Ryzen laptops in the market, brand new this year's stock, are often still Zen 2 :/
I kinda hate the laptop market
well, going from 140mm^2 on the most expensive node to 114mm^2 seems like a pretty strong reason to stop placing orders for the old stuff
the lunar lake compute tile is on the same tsmc process as arrow lake
yuh expensive
i think amd new naming is sooooo much better
i dont need a decoder ring

they also use the same naming from deskop parts
ryzen 5 7
now will they restart the numbering for desktop?

10950x
or 950x
intel survived having 10000 series and up for a bit there (*survived so far)
What's funny is that Intel went to TSMC to be more competitive because their own nodes were not up to scratch, and TSMC gave them a huge discount that allowed them to have some breathing room to compete with AMD, however Pat Gelsinger said something publicly that was seen as insulting towards TSMC, and TSMC cancelled the special pricing that they gave for Intel which was like 40% Discount, so Intel lost huge money because the CEO had a big mouth and spoke things he shouldn't have said.
I imagine that factored into his "refirement"
he said that American companies shouldnt be supporting TSMC as its a foreign entity
really rude
when they are doing biz with you
Yeah, I forget his exact words and they didn't sound terrible to North American ears, but I can see how oldschool executives in Asia could take that in a rough way and retaliate to show Intel who's boss.
so TSMC clapped back with well we arnt in the business of providing discounts to our competition
yeah

Can't blame them. As they say, loose lips sink ships.
direct quote was: "You don't want all of your eggs in the basket of a Taiwan fab" in 2021
Instead of nurturing the relationship, Gelsinger β who hopes to restore Intel's own manufacturing prowess β offended TSMC by calling out Taiwan's precarious relations with China. βYou don't want all of your eggs in the basket of a Taiwan fab,β he said in May 2021, using industry jargon for a chip fabrication plant.
flippy floppy
Yeah for sure.
Source: https://www.reuters.com/technology/inside-intel-ceo-pat-gelsinger-fumbled-revival-an-american-icon-2024-10-29/ (for the above blockquote)
I wonder who the full replacement will be and what their vision of sorting out the company will look like.
i think theres going to be a lot of ppl leaving
now they they can get much better paying jobs
intel isnt the only fab in town now
and given that they pay the lowest
and its super stressful
fantastic
I'm a bit intimidated to try and help in w-s since the regulars seem a lot better at it than I'd be... <.<
https://www.tomshardware.com/pc-components/cpus/qualcomm-hires-intels-xeon-architect-to-lead-development-of-server-cpus more brain drain going directly to dangerous companies for intel
you are right
I learned it [most of what I know about RISC-V] from Jeff Geerling, he has some good videos about RISC-V
theres only soo many ppl at intel that are actually worth it
a lot of the ppl at intel are just part of the problem
its not going to take long for intel to be seen as the place you just go to and jump ship
I hung around, watched and learned for a few months. Asked questions of my own and started off slowly - with things I was familiar with and slowly grew from there. It's always ok to say "I don't know. Maybe someone else can help" π
I also have an ever growing OneNote as easy reminder of things. Plus makes it easy for a copy / paste of common responses.
And as someone who as been using OBS for the better part of 13 years at this point, starting with OBS Classic in 2012, there are still things that i have been learning about or didnt even know was a thing.
it's constantly evolving. i started helping back in... v23 days? i think, and will admit that it has changed quite a bit and i'm unaware of quite a bit of the newer things
but 600 fake frames?
Only 600?
Wonder what the input latency feels like
thy gotta do better than that
Reduced by 75% apparently rob
Oh system latency
Well, sub 3ms latency. Gotta be input, no?
System latency means input latency these days?
With Frame Warp, the GPU renders frame A but calculates the updated camera position of frame B in the render pipeline and "warps" or reprojects frame A to the newer camera position.
so it's a real frame but with fakery on top
and yet the game server tick loop will still be the limiting issue
can't believe someone hasn't just made it so the players move at 4x the fps of the world rendering yet so you don't have to fake it
Ill still wait to see what GN and Hardware Unboxed find in their full testing. Not like im getting the 50 series anyway, but the real world benchmarking will still be fun to see
Yea. For sure. I'm not upgrading any time soon so I personally don't really give shits. Just like tech stuffs mostly
I have plans of buying a 5080
it is a bit surprising to me that everyone seems to want to prove some point that the new cards are bad in some way though π
looks like a marginal upgrade from the 40 series which is fine by me https://www.digitaltrends.com/computing/nvidia-rtx-50-series-expected-performance-reveal/
i think the issue most people have is that they're selling them heavily on the "made-up" frame numbers instead of raw/actual performance
The 5070 as an example though, for raw performance, is supposedly 15-20% better than 4070 and msrp is lower
A major trend change for nvidia vs past 2 or 3 generations, no?
yes, but also if you really do get the frames they are talking about and it looks good then I could care less if they are "made-up"
Big fax
"and it looks good" is a key qualifier
sure, but realistically it doesn't and can't
for example when you do a camera pan the gpu literally has to make up shit that the game isn't rendering yet because it's off-screen
Honestly had this conversation in another server a few days ago. I personally don't think fps is going to be a core indicator moving forward. Quality and playability seem far more important
so it has to inpaint the sides of the screen
the faster the pan (and the lower the real fps) the worse that problem becomes
my gripe is also if devs start getting lazy with optimization and just rely on the framegen to get playable FPS's in their game
too late
Oooh, Vincent D'Onofrio is back!!!! He's so great.
he never went away
Only intel can actually make new stuff worse, but a very marginal upgrade is I guess perceived as bad
True, I just didn't expect him to be cast in yet another Daredevil show. Figured the writers would have move on.
he was in both the movies and other tv shows for marvel
they were not gonna not bring him back again
He was also Edgar in Men In Black.
yes but i am talkin about his work on marvel stuff
he doesnt just appear in dare devil
No, I get that. But he goes way back in TV and movies
he was in she hulk and echo i think, and i think one of the spiderman movies?
He's one of those actors who's such a chameleon I sometimes have to look up who played the role.
he was so good in the previous daredevil series
the rumor is that the new daredevil show is to set up a spiderman/daredevil movie for spiderman 4
Oh yeah, they have used him heavily, which I love. He's a fantastic villain.
so they are bringing everyone back
Kingpin is an iconic villain.
Big ol swamp puppy.
go pet it
I might be the only person that loved all the marvel shows, bring em all back π
Jessica Jones was damned good
I don't really watch any marvel stuff (think its mostly boring, sorry) but daredevil/jessica jones/punisher netflix series' were all amazing
They were far more grounded than what the vast majority of the Marvel films became.
The first few Marvel films in phase 1 had somewhat similar grounding, but had only 2 hours or so to work with, as opposed to the longer time to develop like the Netflix shows.
Then things just went bananas (for the films)
call me crazy but I don't think enjoying one series/movie should depend on your in depth knowledge of the entire "universe".....those shows + the few movies I like (the original iron man) all stand on their own comfortably
the punisher especially was one of my favorites
Not crazy. The movies became very intertwined. They all had to fit the ensemble crossover pattern, as opposed to individual, isolated stories that most comics are.
I wouldnt mind seeing a film adaptation of Batman Year Two, but we kinda sort of got that with the villain in the animated film Mask of the Phantasm
I'm with you! They were all great but Luke Cage is my fave of the series.
I think that in general, it probably doesn't have to guess at the edges of the screen, because it's not like the game engine is remeshing the edges of objects and such to make them fit exactly on screen and cut off the exact pixel that part of something goes off screen. So there's probably plenty of scene data the card could use to fill things in... especially since at a high framerate, the total angular change per individual frame is going to be pretty small.
yes, but there may be objects that are entirely off-screen and thus culled
and the thing is your framerate isn't necessarily very high
that's the entire point of frame gen, increase frame rate by generating fake frames to turn 25 fps into 100 fps
so the "source frames" might have a fairly large motion delta between frames
that the fake frames then fill in with fantasy data
These fake frame features are really to drive sales of upcoming 600hz monitors yeah?
Not sure I really understand what's the benefit of > 120 fps
I get eSports and stuff but then fake frames is probably very undesirable there
yeah esports bros are 100% not using any frame gen
I have a 240hz panel that I(out of different reasons) run at 120 and personally shit feels just as smooth
THis chart upsets me
GeForce RTX 5080 vs RTX 4080 (Native RT / No DLSS) = +15%
GeForce RTX 5070 Ti vs RTX 4070 Ti (Native RT / No DLSS) = +20%
GeForce RTX 5070 vs RTX 4070 (Native RT / No DLSS) = +20%```
seems that without the new fake frames in the 75 games that support it
its not that good
I mean 15% is on the low side but 20-30% geneneration-over-generation is pretty standard I feel like
Especially with the 5070 having a lower msrp than the 4070 did
So raw frame per dollar spent is actually a much better ratio
Jensen must have been OK with 1 less new jacket and spatula this year
Hell the 5080 is coming in at 200 less msrp vs 4080
yeah price is everything, really
lower MSRP, improved base performance, new frame generation tech to squeeze out even more performance....I am not seeing what there is to complain about π
(assuming base functionality, anyway)
I mean realistically the hardware is fine and pretty much as expected, they just need to stop selling it based on fake frames
this whole "5070ti = 4090 but cheap!" bullshit needs to stop
I have my doubts about their latency claims. but that's just the usual first party marketing bs
Amd really gonna need to get aggressive on pricing me thinks
We realistically could see their "top end" card being sub 400
well thats best case
20-30% improvement over a 4090 seems pretty solid
It's obviously not a value proposition
its less than 3x!
The fact that 4000-series cards can still take advantage of the new generation DLSS stuff (even if limited to "normal" 2x frame gen) is not what I expected, pleasant surprise
I don't really want more than what current FG offers in terms of FPS
oh
the gap between the 4080 and the 4090 is pretty large
i dont think the 5080 is gonna match a 4090

i want more raster because i dont play a single game in that 75 that support it
You play games that require that level of performance but don't support dlss?
Your excerpt of performance improvement is with NO frame gen
You are mixing and matching 2 separate points again
I mean don't get me wrong I want more raster performance too, it seems like that is also on the table
GeForce RTX 5080 vs RTX 4080 (Native RT / No DLSS) = +15%
GeForce RTX 5070 Ti vs RTX 4070 Ti (Native RT / No DLSS) = +20%
GeForce RTX 5070 vs RTX 4070 (Native RT / No DLSS) = +20%```
That's all with no dlss
So more raw performance at lower msrp for at least 5070 and 5080
yuh i agree its good but i want more focus on all games and not just 75
the uplift seems okay but its a lot less than what jensen said
makes me think ppl might of actually beleived him
With dlss4, as he mentioned, it's probably accurate
But there is still raw improvement at lower cost
which is lower cost?
5080 is $200 less than 4080
5070 is $50 less than 4070
well the 4080 super is 999
Maybe now
AMD taking quite some time to anounce their shit
4080 came out at 1199
So wait til 6xxx comes out to buy 5xxx
That's basically the point you are now making
You need to compare apples to apples. Not apples to stale bread
Arthur Gies (gaming journalist) mentioned that he spoke with some AMD reps at CES, and they are waiting for the 5070 official release date announcements to make their own release announcements.
preorders start on the 23rd
radeon person said 300-1000

other radeon dude said under 2000
doesnt really mean anything, preorders can be canceled, and the actual hard "date" hasnt been set. Just "February"
sooner than HL3
ah, thought you meant Nvidia. Gotta be specific there
FSR4 looking great, hopefully it will be present in lots o games
sorry
yuh if they can get that to work with all of the fsr3.1 games
oh booy
theres also the claims about improved encoding quality, if its substantional, would also be neat
sad
we can hope
and dream
the 5070ti not having fe cards tho
thats going to raise the avg price up for the 5070ti and 5080
those top 3 card prices are going to be too high
moderate ones hopes, and dont give in to FOMO π
do you tho
okay pookie
could also get a camera for cheaper, go to where there are real otters, and give them the work they deserve
so while you are at it drop the 64 gig sticks
remember a beefy CPU
i also plan to do that too
the 7950x was getting pretty cheap
$400
Wait are you implying otters isn't a real otter? My worldview!

no, im implying that the otters Otters wants to generate are not real otters, and that a camera would be cheaper than a GPU that runs at however many giga-FLOPS (floating-point otters per second) π

here is a tracing of Ray

Diving Deep Into New Ryzen CPU Launches
big question is, will the sequel to Tray Racing on the Switch 2 have Ray Tracing?
and yes, Tray Racing is a real game, because of course it is
good, it would've been a huge missed opportunity otherwise
there is also this form of Tray Racing
