ah, simple. Variable refresh rate pushed to the extreme. Saves on battery, and it literally doesn't matter when yer only starting at a static screen anyway. Framerate&refresh rate jump up when needed, otherwise it's 1Hz&1fps

I'm increasingly favouring the idea though of having separate programs that communicate with OBS through websockets and spout/NDI wherever feasible, just to avoid instability and reduce compatibility issues as the program evolves.

Also offers greater user interface options which could be useful too. I'd like to fiddle around with it sometime in the next year. I was thinking of taking a stab at making a standalone program that can interpret Shadertoy shaders as-is, which could interface with OBS and other programs. Not sure how big of an undertaking that might be, but it seemed like an approach like this might be more fruitful than a direct OBS plugin/script.

Because no, you can’t turn it off. But you don’t need to turn it off, that would be an X-Y problem.

If we’re talking about iOS 17, then you need to be clear if you’re talking specifically about its new feature “StandBy Mode”, which is when you put your iPhone on charge at night and turn its screen to landscape mode so that it shows a clock

So that’s easy, you go to Settings -> StandBy -> enable Show Notifications. That means if the diabetes reader has an important notification, it will still get displayed even in StandBy mode

For the price I kind of feel like Sony isn't good enough. I was originally looking at Sony when looking for an upgrade but ended up going with the S24 Ultra and have been very pleased with it so far.

I got the purple one, which doesn't really matter though cuz I have it in a purple case lol

It pretty much offers all the things I wanted in a phone going from my LG V50. Battery is fantastic. Having the ability to lower the resolution to make it last longer is great unlike Sony which I'm pretty sure doesn't give you the option so you are just stuck at 4K the whole time.

Cameras on it are fantastic for both which shots with post processing as well as pro modes.

The side bar menu is convenient just like the pop out bar was convenient on my LG.

The AI circle to search thing has actually come in handy multiple times so far.

It doesn't have a headphone jack which I've come to accept because honestly I have two pairs of wireless earbuds and a pair of wireless over ear headphones.

The lack of expandable storage though might be a downer for select people but I personally don't have issues with storage space

I think the fastest cable we have is just a smidge past 23gbps. 4k120 needs almost exactly 23gbps.

I don't know any SSDs that can handle that amount of data. Even if they could, I don't know if you'd /want/ them to, considering you'd start hitting terabytes six minutes in.

Of course, if we assume very basic RLE/similar, then maybe we can get half an hour before we go over a terabyte, but I think current PCIe5 SSDs would still get totally maxed out. The cooling requirements would be non-trivial, especially for a phone or camera. We're already at the point of using watercooling loops for SSDs.

I've said it before: The world is still not, and has never been, ready for 4k.

I'll say it again: We still aren't ready for 4k.

It's cheap, handy (you have a lever you pull with your pinky to easily slide out all cards in a nicely tiered pattern) and has two compartments for coins and bank notes (altho you do have to fold them in half twice).
It's durable enough, but even if you break it, it's 4x cheaper than the ridge so just order a new one

Yeah - sadly it's common. Mostly happens when they are jumping onto or off of things like furniture. Some can tear while running across uneven ground.

yeah they said very common, he's a small dog that goes up and down stairs a bunch of times every day and constantly runs/jumps off stuff. he also has a genetic thing called a luxating patella which really just means his kneecap moves out of its normal position sometimes so he was even more prone to it happening. and he is an old man now, 11 years old. definitely makes me sad but i'm just thankful that was the issue rather than them finding some mass on the xray or something.

He is in good spirits though!
