I figured out what causes it and how to avoid it. so basically, if the app isn't already open on my phone with no background task and I launch it via DeX the visuall issue happens, but if I launch it on my phone first then just bring it up on DeX it displays properly

might be some oddball bug with DeX mode itself and the app not quite knowing how to render itself when it's launched directly

Download video static video from YouTube, layer it on the bottom and your scene on top. Put a color correction filter on the nested scene with opacity set to 0. Use Exeldro's "Move" filter to animate the Opacity control on the previous filter from 0 to 100% to fade it in.

The screen is full of random noise while the effect is on, which is absolue murder on the video codec. If it is for a local recording with CRF/CPQ it will maintain the quality but the file size will shoot up while the effect is on. If the video is being streamed online, the compression will be huge at Twitch's maximum bitrate on 1080p. On YouTube with a super high bit rate it should likely be fine. But in general, random noise of any kind == bad for Twitch.

it is a very good tool, not the color music ball thats a me thing, but this does have audio sensitive modulation in it too,

its great for videos, wallpapers. and can be rigged via virtual cam for live applicability to source or webcam

yes FL studio has no OSC support while ableton does. as far as the visuals i wouldn't necessarily recommend OBS as the driving force behind that stuff, there are much better tools for the job that can then be captured in OBS like resolume or MMV.

No. I /need/ 444. My main annoyance is actually just importing and keeping footage sorted. I have like 200 very visually similar clips that I'm working with, and plan to do hard-cuts between them multiple times per second. I thought Resolve'd be able to help with that much, but so far, the import process seems worse than just taking notes with pen and paper at this point.

Need 444 because the clips in question are of visual glitches and 420 absolutely ruins it. There's a scanline component, so even 422 will kill it.

Okay. Let's forget the entire concept of an "editor". Let's just say, instead, I have a collection of videos in a folder, and I want a way to very quickly play them and preview them. Windows won't do this with thumbnails since thumbnails are images with no motion, and the motion is the important part that I need.

In a perfect world, this means that the position in each media file is synced to the master timeline, so I can see tiny previews of 200+ clips at once at the appropriate moment in time.

Know what guy that was here constantly doing self-promo and posted media with every message they sent? They sold me on their first dang post. Literally shouted "take me money!" and got the thing in a heartbeat.

It's a /wonderful/ artistic editor... As long as you just want a toy. The moment you try to use it for anything serious, well, it doesn't have a timeline. That should tell you all that you need to know.

So, I've gotten like 200 different mixes of various effects from the thing on the same clip and want to now drag them into a program with a timeline, so I can synchronize things to audio better than their program does.

This is not the first time I've wanted to do something like this, and I always have the same stages of grief: First I'm elated, then I'm distraught cuz it's missing one critical feature that I absolutely can't work around, then I try to work around it anyway, eventually realize that Resolve probably does what I want it to, then I spend a day trying to find plugins that boil down to "set this variable on this shader to N when I press spacebar and rapidly decay, and allow me to adjust it later like Blender does", fail (I just finished this stage), eventually realize Blender can probably also do it, find out that it can but only in one specific version and I now need like 4 versions of Blender to all talk to each other so I throw it out a window (I'm trying to skip this part), and then finally "give up/acceptance".

Sometimes I remember that ffmpeg actually supports interactive triggers for it's filters, and that sounds /great/!... Until I remember that it doesn't have a timeline either so I'd need inhumanly perfect reactions to make it work anyway, in addition to somehow getting it to take a shader.

i had one with it on the back and now i have an underscreen one. I find the under screen one more useful since you aren't forced to grab your whole phone and it's more convenient. Also harder to smudge up the lens (Samsung S8 had the sensor right next to the lens so you were smudging it regularly). The only thing i miss about it is the swipe down gester to bring down the notifications panel.

I like how Stellaris does it's tutorial (when it existed) and wish people did it to a PC. Stellaris has three tutorial levels, and the middle one is interesting to me.

For example, right now, if you press F11 in Chrome, you get a blob of text top-center of your screen for a brief moment that tells you how to exit, and then it dismisses it's self with absolutely no way to bring it back unless you somehow remember how to exit fullscreen mode (and so don't need the message anyway) and then enter it again.

This obviously fails at it's core function, which should be "a user randomly pressed a key /somehow/ and their state changed as a result. Alert the user for how to undo this change.".

Literally all it needs to do to fix this is /stay on the dang screen until the user manually dismisses it/. THat's it. Really. And have a little "do not show this message again" checkbox starting from the /second/ time that it shows up.

Ironically, discord's really good at this. If you call somebody but have your mic hardware-muted, it pops a red banner at the top that says you might be muted. If you start talking, it goes away, cuz obviously you solved the problem and so the message no longer applies..

..But more impressive is what happens if you don't unmute, and you instead click the X to dismiss it. If you do that, it then pops a new message that warns you a second time that "no, really, you're on mute, but if you pinky-swear that this is discord's fault, then click Don't Show Again and we'll go away".

The actual message and presentation does a lot more to explain this than I ever will myself, so go stare at it, owo. Think about it: This is genius, both technical-minded and not-technical-minded users are shown what they need to see and instructions are right there /and stay there/.

Sorry, long post, there's more. -- So, Stellaris' second level of tutorials, spawns a UI element when you pop a new part of the GUI up. This new pane explains what the purpose of the page is and such.

Critically, it does this for /every page that the game has/, and the game has /a lot/ of pages. It'll /keep popping up/, too, unless you, one at a time, for each page, click "don't show this again" and then dismiss it with that box checked. This way, if you think you remember what's going on but aren't sure, you can very trivially test this by closing all open windows (with the box unchecked in the one relevant window), then try to re-find the panel again by yourself, and it'll still be there to re-explain things if it turns out that that was too much.

I think this is what we're missing as a society for computer education. We have classes for "here's how to make and print a document in Word", for example, and we have "Press F1 to get built-in help that only really helps if you already know 90% of the terms and just need the missing 10%", but there is currently /nothing at all/ for people anywhere between these two extremes, and it's frustrating for everyone.

Either you're very technical and don't want to sit through the long-form explination so you skim and get ticked off for wasting your time even if you do find your answer, or you get frustrated that F1 is /too/ distilled-down to only fill in the smallest knowledge gaps. Doesn't matter what sort of user you are; both of these will drive you nuts if you're not needing that specific information.

Oh, and, I bet if we had that middle-ground covered, people could make more-informed decisions, faster, about when they really need in-depth help. Imagine if every time you went to Advanced Mode in OBS, if every single field was explained fully, with /a lot/ of supporting words, all at once, but also assumed that you already know the vocabulurary and the context. (Things like "video is actually the rapid presentation of a series of images".) -- If you can't follow the middle difficulty, then you know you need the full explainers, and not F1. Without this middle though, users only ever see F1-style help or super-newbie-help, and both of these can lead to them getting a bad read on how much they actually do or don't understand a subject, owo.
