For sure gonna stick with SS now as it's a LOT easier

I think its possibly because they sell licenses for the versions with more channels / additional virtual cables rather than it being something to do with the time period it was made in. Voicemeeter came out 2013, the OG Virtual Audio Cable program, while it doesn't have a mixer program bundled with it, lets you set as many virutal audio cables as you want and that came out in 1995.

When dialing with a rotary phone on a US landline does it interrupt the dial tone and then send the pulses like it works in Europe? From the callers perspective where off the hook its a dial tone then when you dial line goes silent but you hear the dialing pulses. Need to know for a project I'm working on

prisma dove
#

If I remember correctly, yes, the first number dialed interrupts the initial tone when picking up the receiver.

hearty stirrup
#

pulse dialing I think is consistent regardless of region

wanton coral
#

I wonder if there's anywhere that has a list of what each number is encoded as in the US, or if its the same as In Europe

#

The number of pulses sent for each digit is defined by the type of dial system in use. The encoding has traditionally varied by country, or by the manufacturer of the telephone system. For example, Sweden used one pulse to signal the number zero, and ten pulses to signal the number nine. In Finland, where many telephones were of Swedish manufacture, one pulse signaled digit 1, and ten pulses 0. New Zealand used ten pulses minus the number desired; so dialing the digit 7 produces three pulses. In Norway, the North American system with the digit 1 corresponding to one pulse was used, except for the capital city, Oslo, which used the same "inverse" system as in New Zealand. The sequencing of the digits on the dial varies accordingly.

livid plover
hearty stirrup
#

it's just a number of pulses

wanton coral
#

Also it does get encoded

. During this return rotation, an electrical switch interrupts the direct current (DC) of the telephone line (local loop) the specific number of times associated with each digit and thereby generates electrical pulses which the telephone exchange decodes into each dialed digit

#

Technically pulse dialing encoder and decoder on both ends is a codec

the video mixing in obs (or at least the way its user interface is designed) is more for simple broadcasts in comparison and all users

#

although outside of news stations, there have been cases where obs has been used more thoroughly to create complex video mixes for broadcasts, especially tournaments or GDQ being cases where people build their toolchains around it to save on expensive video mixing equipment costs

Hey just ran into something this past week and was curious as to if anyone had some solutions. I am playing and streaming rust. To not expose the map I was trying to hotkey an overlay every time I clicked the button for map and when i release the button it would take off the overlay. The problem is the hotkey currently works as a single input so I would have to press once to cover map and once again to uncover map.

cunning pine
#

I don't believe it is an AI of any sort.
The only way an AI understands how to converse is if it's being talked to, and the only way it can know it's being talked to is if you ping it.
Otherwise it would just be assuming any and all things posted in the chat are people talking directly to it and not others.

The fact that the supposed AI responded to the comment about shitposting without being pinged in any way means that it's a human being and they know what shitposting is.

Don't take this as advice and do your own research but aren't gators relatively friendly as compared to crocs? Someone I used to know who lived In Florida said their apartment complex's garden had a pond with a gator and people would feed it from time to time.

Why are Keychron keyboards so expensive. It's like ยฃ200 for a lemokey l3.

livid plover
#

takes money to make product

cunning pine
#

Supply and demand. Low demand results in low supply, and the less mass production you do the more expensive the production cost

livid plover
#

the less off-the-shelf components you can use, the more expensive too

void gorge
#

even Razer and Logi keyboards are about that price. Guess I have been living under a rock or inflation has hit manufacturing costs hard for keyboards

cunning pine

Higher end mechanical keyboards have been around $200 for a long time

terse helm
#

fun fact

#

IBM Model M is a membrane keyboard

#

but yeah just build your own, don't get keychron

livid plover
#

membrane keyboards are perfectly fine, don't let the snobs convince you otherwise

terse helm
#

nothing particularly wrong with them

#

but a lot of people bring up the model M as the prime example of a great mechanical keyboard

#

when it is in fact a membrane keyboard

cunning pine
#

membranes can be mechanical too

terse helm
#

I mean technically everything that does something is a mechanism

#

but within keyboards membranes are effectively the polar opposite of mechanical

livid plover
#

USB/PS2 never supported mechanical transfer anyway, so who cares

cunning pine
#

who needs ones and zeros when you can have analog pulse modulation

livid plover
#

i guess membranes fall under the elastically feedbacking kind, while the buckling spring is a mechanical(but also elastically deforming) feedback
