How's my vibration bass coming along? Do I need to work on it more?

random tundra
#

sounds nice

fervent crow
#

Sounds good but def gotta work on your clarity and volume

#

And also control

#

Does anyone know how to do the high pitch inward bass?

fervent crow
#

Vocalized or unvocalized

#

2 very different techniques

narrow pike
#

bro just thinks he knows but he doesnt icl

fervent crow
#

Only reason im giving him any benefit of doubt is his bass does sound more relaxed like a fry then throat bass or unsync vibration

#

Has a certain lax to its air pressure/texture i only hear with fry stufd

#

Besides that i doubt it lol

narrow pike
#

I mean even then its not that relaxed, and also too loud; + anatomical differences

fervent crow
#

Ye, in one of his shorts he did where he built up to it in the bathroom there 3spesh it had the fry laxness

#

Hey! Can I ask- Is it possible to get resonance in the nasal with a soft hum? if so, how could I quickly access it during a sequence? Like not outward snore- Like I want to yell through my nose for the bass but do lip fills. It feels like it uses less energy. idk D: ty for any help.

fervent crow
#

So like do a voice through the nose or an oscillation

sullen island
fervent crow
#

well no im tryna understand what you mean, like doing just voice or doing a bass oscillation/adding it on

#

cause they are very different difficulty wise

sullen island
#

OH! my b- uh, I'm not good with terms. let me find a reference.

fervent crow
#

lemme record something

sullen island
#

For me it feels what I am aiming for is what you did in the first sample, but with (vocal fry?) like batman voice. Doing it with the uvula feels 'thick' in my throat not as fluid, I have to fight from my tongue engaging. Maybe I figure out how to record my voice- I tend to come too a squeeky sound in my nasal when I try

fervent crow
#

perhaps vocalized chest bass

sullen island
#

Yes- is there a way to seat the vibration higher? (higher in the throat)

#

like, chest base into the nose clearing sound?

fervent crow
#

hmm, do you mean switch into it or straight up have it in that spot

#

theoretically no, besides vocalized nasal uvula on a higher subharmonic

sullen island
#

Hm- I am getting together a recording. Maybe subharmonics is what I need to look into?

fervent crow
#

subharmonics is important for all vocalized basses

sullen island
#

okay- this, how do I clean this up?

#

sounds like someone stuffed rubber in my nose D:

fervent crow
#

oh that isnt even in the nose, thats screamo stuff

sullen island
#

For sure- I feel it in my nose D: Is this a route to access bass? I def am not going for 'screamo' but I do want to incorporate some vocolizations into my routines

#

like, could I push past the squeek?

fervent crow
#

hmm, in this case, i BELEIVE, you are tensing just your voice, it might get a strange in the nose feeling due to how tight it is

#

screamo isnt as looked into for us

sullen island
#

'tensing my voice' is making A LOT of sense too me!! THANK YOU- so basically, I'm barking up the wrong tree?

fervent crow
#

basically ya

#

most basses that involve tensing use things besides tensing up the voice, besides a few less common techniques

#

and besides high basses

#

im assuming you havent happened across my anatomy diagram have you

sullen island
#

I did see them when I happened across your post! 😄

fervent crow
#

sick!

sullen island
#

Is this a better angle for the bass? How can I visualize what is happening along with your diagram? I am realizing my frame of reference has been off

fervent crow
#

heres the fully upgraded diagram btw, the last one i posted on r/beatbox had evil in the wrong spot

fervent crow
sullen island
#

is it okay if I zave this image?

fervent crow
#

hard to tell if its constricted singing or arytenoid constricted voice, but way better

fervent crow
#

all my resources are free to save

sullen island
#

Thank you!

#

So, what can I do to open up?

fervent crow
#

well in this case

#

this is the kind of constriction you want

#

constricted voice is different from strained or tight voice

#

constricted voice is typically using more the false folds

#

in this position, attempt to clear your throat

#

nice and low down btw, but clearing out the top

sullen island
#

wowwowwowow WOW- bro you're blowing my mind rn

fervent crow
#

clear your throat like you have mucus covering your vocal chords

sullen island
fervent crow
#

theres alot that goes into this

fervent crow
#

like theres REALLY something stuck there

sullen island
#

WAT!! bet- I feel a tickle or like a looseness?

fervent crow
sullen island
#

OHGHADAMN!!!

fervent crow
#

then you extend the throat clearing to one note, either on the first or second push up to you

#

i found doing it on the second clear (cause typically you go hmhm) is a little more consistant

sullen island
#

You are a mf life saverrrrrrrr thank you!!!!

fervent crow
#

lol

#

ya you hear that vibration? make sure to have your voice under it and train to relax it more

sullen island
#

Focusing on the vibrations is definately what I'll be able to work on better- thank you thank you!! if I had the money i'd tip you!!!!

fervent crow
#

all bass comes with time

fervent crow
#

remember, have your voice under it, in your recordings here you got rid of a bit of voice, as you relax the vibration make sure the voice is still active

#

and this is only one bass lol

sullen island
#

For my mental- do I just 'remind' myself of the humming aspect when I get the vibrations going?

fervent crow
#

yes, generally it will come with time as well

sullen island
#

I do want to be able to relax so I can train inhales- when I try to include like tongue inward I'm afraid of drowining

fervent crow
#

when you clear your throat make sure your voice stays active basically

#

like a vocalized throat clear

sullen island
#

Could I use DENIM DENUM?

fervent crow
#

hm?

sullen island
sullen island
fervent crow
#

i would say after you get the bass consistant

sullen island
fervent crow
#

after your bass gets atleast somewhat consistant you do vowel and interuption training, which the denum and benum would apply to

sullen island
#

you are genious ty- so focus on the throat clear- 👌🏾

fervent crow
#

for now

sullen island
#

werid question- green tea/ yerba while practicing. good or bad?

fervent crow
#

its good, espessially if you include honey

sullen island
#

Thank you for this! I have a solid goal to reach for 🙏🏾

#

how long would you say you'd spend on focused throat clears? I'm starting to get 'fuzzy' - but also, like doing a little bit of like 'vocal stimming' through the day any helpful? or like, should I just hit my limit then rest?

fervent crow
#

vocal stimming throughout the day is quite good

#

mixed with when you hit your limit stop

sullen island
#

bro, you are so cool! Thank you so much!!!!

fervent crow
#

im at like 74 basses now so generally i can help with a good bit

sullen island
#

the bass collector!!! would be cool to have a shelf full of sound crystals (the reeps one ones), like a physical manifestation of your repertoire !

fervent crow
#

lol

#

most i have is a google doc i copy and paste sometimes

sullen island
#

#

i open it

I definitely need to learn to be more organized with my sounds! The idea is so alien to me D:

#

You can recall all of your bass sounds by name?! Yeah I am lacking xD

fervent crow
#

lol

#

it gets easier the longer you do it and the more you chat with people or watch content in the community

sullen island
#

I've been a shy hobbiest noise maker for a long time thanks too MiBII and Reeps one's Move video when I was younger! Coming here to learn has been a game changer for sure!

sounds that were rare back then are normal now

like vibration bass and inward bass

sullen island

narrow pike
#

bruhh

#

i mean think about it

fervent crow
#

to me makes more sense than double uvula bass lol

narrow pike
#

not really

fervent crow
#

well, i guess ya if you look at the uvula simular to a tail it can kinda wiggle a bit

narrow pike
#

I mean the uvula is flexible so it acts more similar to how the vocal cords would in that way, the arytenoids are just fat ass inflexible cartilage

#

especially cus of vacuum effect I cant really imagine it

fervent crow

well just ordered my camera, supposedly will be here this week

How do you talk while doing vibration bass? I got vibration bass last month but it always fails whenever I try to say anything longer than a single syllable. Is it just a matter of practice?

by 1 month ov vibration you will not be talking with it

#

even by 3 you might not

fervent crow
#

For a normal person, throat bass will take maybe 2 weeks - a month to get down without the pain

sullen island
#

ty! that takes away my hesitation

fervent crow
#

Maybe even 3 months if your pain is linked to your quality

#

Guess i can post this here too, example of even i in the morning dont have superb quality lol

#

Allways drink water and warm up

#

So you dont sound like this lol

sullen island
#

when you're doing your throat clears or sustained vibrations/ humms- do yo ulet air escape from your nose?

fervent crow
#

Eh up to the person, do you mean when you do a sound nasally or orally

sullen island
#

hmm- I can't tell. I can do a recording. From my perspective I feel like I'm 'pushing harder' and opening up? But, due too our previous chat, I'm aware now thatmy throat is tensing

fervent crow
#

I mean, air escaping through the nose isnt bad

#

It happens naturally

sullen island
#

I guess also it's different if my mouth is open or not x.x but I see what yo umean, each position is like a different sound

fervent crow
#

Eee not necissarily

#

Theres oral, nasal, and dual projection, they will lightly change the resonance and capabilities of a sound, but its still just throat bass

lost gull
#

how to tighten the throat for hard bass

any normal thing we do, that is similar to tightening the throat

fervent crow
#

so hard bass is related to evil bass directly

#

same way you would tighten for that

#

aka when you forcefully gag or just over pressurize your throat

marsh pier
#

I am not sure if you have answered this yet but what are the steps to learning a throat bass (i am a beginner to beatbox and eventually would like to learn)

fervent crow
#

First, train constricted singing

#

Its a good warm up and helps train your false folds

fervent crow
#

Then once you get that down, clear your throat aggressivly and deep down in that spot, repeat until you can extend it

#

Then train from there

fervent crow
lost gull

how to do that

also how to make inward bass sound like it doesnt have a "shh", airy sound

any tips on lowering adams apple while doing inward bass

i can lower it normally but with inward bass it goes up

fervent crow
#

i mean, you dont really NEED to for inward, thats up to taste, heck i notice the lower it is the more airy it gets

fervent crow
#

OK, heres something INTERESTING for those who havent seen kindreds video, its a internal recording of my very own larynx

potent juniper
fervent crow
#

Ones just more vocalized the other isnt, your using too much jayton when you do the jayton method

#

The jayton and throat bass have to be balanced

fervent crow
potent juniper
narrow pike
#

going into breathy voice instead of maintaining jayton voice

potent juniper
#

I never really understood if it's actually vb bass, it's really confusing

#

i was listening to colaps this past week and I surprisingly find his vocalised chest bass similar to my "vb"

narrow pike
# potent juniper I never really understood if it's actually vb bass, it's really confusing

i mean theres no real jayton voice in that so that excludes vibration bass, then theres no kermit voice so it cant be tilted chest bass stuff like colaps; It might be your mic tripping me out but to me it sounds like your "methods" both use mostly breathy voice, which in one case results in a wobbly 2nd undertone chest voice poly, then the other uses that and tries layering it with jayton voice which works but is hard to do initally; So id say use jayton voice and tone down on the breathiness while keeping the vocal tone stable, or tone down the vocal note and only keep the whispered/breathy component

heavy oracle

polyphonics ya

high poly (or falsetto poly)

idk hard to explain

#

itll just turn into the constant thing when pressurized more

fervent crow

its all subharmonics

#

mine is normally around like 5th sub which sucks

narrow pike
#

no way

#

5th sub bruh?

fervent crow
#

ya, its how it gets so rolly

#

sadly if i have a good poly, after i do 5th sub 9/10 i lose it and it gets replaced

narrow pike
# fervent crow

sounds like you want more tension in the back of the vocal cords

how do you go about obtaining that texture?

fervent crow

i had to learn locked inward, which basically means pressing your epiglottis against the back of your throat

then i had to learn constricted inward, then kinda combining the two and relaxing gets you close to his texture

theres a chance my normal texture though is more spacific to me cause my epiglottis is weirdly shaped

without rolling your R's?

fervent crow
#

Not really

#

Like by definition thats what the oscillation of tongue bass is

stuck stump
#

Does polyphonic have to be with a falsetto

#

Or is chest voice poly just low poly or smth

#

What the hell is this sound it vibrates my teeth when I do it

#

@fervent crow

fervent crow
#

sounds like nasally low falsetto evil maybe

stuck stump
#

It does hurt a lot

fervent crow
#

ye lol

#

it can also be called marge bass

stuck stump
#

Didn’t know I can do that

#

Just randomly got it lol

fervent crow
#

neither did i when i found it

stuck stump
fervent crow
#

mines changed alot so wont sound the same

#

or as controlled

#

now it flips to falsetto vibration

stuck stump
#

Sounds cool tho

#

Oh my god what

#

I just looked in the mirror a bunch of veins pop out of my neck when I do this sound

#

😭

zealous copper
#

Well i cant roll my r's

#

So does it really count as tobgue bass?

#

I mean i get tongue vibration, but its hella further back in the mouth

#

If mine counts as tongue bass then the place i do it

stuck stump
#

What

zealous copper
#

Is somewhere at the start of this green (duck sound/bass)

zealous copper
stuck stump
zealous copper
#

My question is if my sound counts as tongue bass

stuck stump
#

Does it use the tongue?

zealous copper
#

I mean yea

stuck stump
#

Then it’s tongue bass

#

Or sorry I meant like is the part vibrating ur tongue

zealous copper
#

My tongue vibrates

#

But i have to possition my tongue like real back

stuck stump
#

Unless you’re doing a click roll?

#

But that’s inward so idk how you could get that accidentally

stuck stump
#

Damn my polyphonic is getting good

#

I can sing in it

#

(Off pitch but still)

#

But then again so is my normal singing

fervent crow
#

then its tongue

#

no matter where

#

What is this??????

bleak heron
stuck stump
#

There is like chest bass vibration in it

#

Ik the vibration isn’t as prominent in the video but earlier I was able to get it very strong

#

Can’t do it anymore tho…

#

Oh maybe it’s the pash polyphonic cause it sounded similar earlier

fervent crow
#

Thats just high poly

#

Very like, pushed cause of how hard you are pushing the air

coral elm
#

I always thought I was doing poly but I was just doing chest bass falsetto

fervent crow
#

That im shocked about cause chest bass + falsetto like usually sounds so different-

unkempt drum
#

Any vibration users here got tips for making it easier to use in beats?
When I use it on its own, it sounds perfectly fine, but when I add it into a beat, I really struggle to get it to come through the way it does in the recording

stuck stump
#

Thought I got a cool sound for a sec 🙁

fervent crow
#

like from throat into vibration or tongue bass even

#

then train all your vowels ("o" "e" "a" "u" "oo" "ay" "ee")

zealous copper
#

This count as throat bass?

river field
fervent crow
#

Might be poly chest

what is this sound called?

it's a base?

ahhhh yeah

#

is that

thank you

deft haven
#

Hey @fervent crow I am currently a user of chest bass. I cant seem to get the normal texture of chest bass. For example colaps or bass Ventura. Mine is a controlled rattle that is really low. Not sure how to get that smooth sounding vocalized chest bass

fervent crow
deft haven
#

Its rattles alot its not smooth if that makes sense

deft haven
#

Hahaha thanks but im trying to get more variety with my vocal sounds I guess. Understand it more

fervent crow
#

hmm, lemme think..

#

try using a bit less kermit voice maybe

#

and hollowing the throat a little i beleive

#

or no you want those textures

#

add more kermit voice

#

aka press your tongue more into the back of your throat

Is monke bass uvula + chest bass + falsetto, and everything is breathy ?

fervent crow
#

Its uvula + strainee falsetto

#

On a SUPERZ LOW subharmonic

dry steppe
#

Ah ok ty

fervent crow
#

Then theres evil monke bass which is the same thing but with evil bass added on

dry steppe
#

I thought it was monke bass but unsynchronized

fervent crow
#

No

#

Really you cant unsyncronize it at th3 subharmonic its at

keen mantle
#

Tomaz hard bass is I think evil with chest bass and a reverse clickroll tongue position (tongue for resonance)

fervent crow
#

so there is no chest bass in it, it is overly pressurized evil with tunnel throat (which is kinda related to hollowing) and sometimes has that tongue position

#

i beleive the idea for the chest bass came from tomaz saying it, cause i beleive his chest bass is in the same throat position as his hard bass

keen mantle
fervent crow
#

Ya, weve found it doesnt have chest (partially caude it would be dual pitched if it had any important oscillation)

keen mantle
#

What’s tunnel throat though?

fervent crow
#

One sec

#

I couldnt find it in kindreds vid

#

But i do beleive its almost like a partial hollow

#

Allows for more resonance and that almost slowet texture

#

I know its in kindreds endoscopy vid but its late

river field
#

Yo I would like to know if there’s a way to avoid inward bass making my spit stuck in my throat cuz it messes up and I have to clear my throat. With time I managed to control it and go ahead but it’s still there

fervent crow
#

So 2 or 3 big things to remember, A allways clear your throat before doing an inward bass heavy beat, B try to avoid thicker liquids like milk which can create phlegm, and C try blowing your nose before a beat/practice

#

Other than that it can come down to throat position or overal inward

#

Like dlow inward or things simular will get very saliva-y

gusty iron

what exactly is bly crepsley’s synth technique? is it done with a vocal bass? or a throat bass or something else

I beleive its like a super kermity vocal chest

Like alot of kermit on 1st undertone chest

gusty iron

im assuming its the same as above technique with added synth?

Yo wtf bruh I got good at some weird high pitched chest bass now I can’t do poly anymore 🙁

You do throat bass right at thw start after you say it, but it quickly goes into vibration

#

Practice your constrictwd singing without any kermit voice

#

Cause you are using ALOT of kermit voice

boreal tundra
fervent crow
#

Basically doing the same voice or position as kermit the frog

#

When your tongue is pushed back into your throat

fervent crow
#

Try to basically do it with just a normal clear voice (+ constricted voice lol)

Here's my in-depth explanation and tutorial for zombie bass! It's a very obscure sound in the beatbox world with little to no information about it available, so I figured I would shed some light on this technique. If you have any further questions about this sound, don't be shy to leave a comment and I'll try to help you to the best of my abilit...

Im probably going make a tutorial on it too

hi i was wondering whether ygs had any tutorials/idea on how to start learning jp like high pitched bass thing he used
i think its called uvula? but idk

Heyyo, thanks for checking my GBB 2026 Wildcard :DD

How did y’all learn to roll your r when learning tongue bass

#

I feel like I have to train my muscles to do it but they don’t even know that to do 😭🙏

#

Wait I’m close I think

fervent crow
#

Its kinda a "keep doing it till it happens" sorta thing

tacit root
#

Idk what it’s called

fervent crow
#

Nnno, hihat roll is further forwards and usually with partislly closed teeth (and tongue is flat against the roof of the mouth)

tacit root
fervent crow
#

While tongue bass is a little further back and only the tip is against it

tacit root
#

I’m trying to say ladder while doing it

#

Idk online got told it works

fervent crow
#

So rollinf your Rs is techncially seperate from tongue bass

#

For example, i do alot of tongue bass, but i cant propperly roll my Rs

#

Rolling your Rs is more related to hihat roll, while tongue bass isnt

tacit root
#

Oh Whats tongue bass then

fervent crow
#

More this position

#

Sometimes a bit further back, sometimes slightly forward, still the same shape though

tacit root
#

i think im doing a uvula by accidenyt

fervent crow
#

Here try this

#

Put the tip of your tongue to the roof of your mouth

#

Anf widen your tongue till ylu can barely or cant exhale through it

#

Then, lessen the pressure you have the tip of uour tongue at in anyway that workd, anf exhale

#

Try that for a bit

fervent crow
#

Ya

tacit root
#

Or even if I get it I slip back into uvula

fervent crow
#

Sounds like tongue for alot of ot

tacit root
#

Everytime I try it I use so much pressure icl 😭 feels Kinda horrible

tacit root
#

That’s a lot less pressure too

#

Takes me like 100 tries tho

#

not gonna lie i dont think i learned the tongue bass u was on about tho

#

mine feels different

#

its almost like my whole tongue is flat against teh roof of my mouth

fervent crow
#

Aaah heavy tongue bass

tacit root
#

and how can i learn more variants?? was trynna find d low one

#

but all the tutorials suck on it

#

one dude basically just using uvula

fervent crow
#

Dlow tongue bass is hard and i wanna say anatomy dependent ngl

#

Get heavy tongue bass down and it will get you used to loosening your tongue

#

https://youtu.be/wWaWGBR5YoQ use this for tongue positions and varients!

Heyo, this is my first actual proper video for this channel! ofc I wish I did things better then i did, but allergies have been killin me. I'm a Canadian Bass nerd beatboxer, know almost every in and out of all basses, and have been doing tongue bass specifically for 12 years, so ofc i have plenty of variations.

ill try these eventually

#

do need to get heavy down

#

funny how i learned that onefirst

fervent crow
#

Heavy is good to have

#

Isnt harmonically impressive but its like clickroll in the fact it hits hard and isnt overly high effort once you have it down

tacit root
#

not sure how i can do that without the back of the tongue near the top of the mouth

fervent crow
#

It takes practice, just keep foing what you are doing and it will helpntrain your tongue to get loose

tacit root
#

I’m honestly loving this sound

#

Seems crazy

tacit root
#

@fervent crow I’ve been experimenting and adding lips into it makes it sound crazzzy deep at times

but the tongue is like almost flat on the teeth

#

not sure if it makes a difference

That’s how it feels

Like as if I was doing heavy but also touching teeth

#

I believe you have the subharmonics labelled incorrectly, the one labelled 2nd should be the 1st and so on

fervent crow
#

trust me i miss the days when that was correct.. but weve been like heavily corrected that we were a number off

#

1st undertone is 1 octave below the voice, but 2nd subharmonic is the one 1 octave below (going with the interval being 1/2, then 1/3 for 3rd sub)

#

took me like 4 months to adjust lol

#

like kindred got emails from scholars about it

@leaden thicket ^^
