So despite the cold side, it being a dryer, it makes hot air, that with the humidity extracted from your closet these must be, ahem, exhausted someplace.

Whence before, due to extreme heat of the heating element, previous dryer technology required the hot air to exit the house and be free of lint so as to not spark a fire, the heat pump one exhausts at lower temperature and you can keep that heat in your house. The cold side on any air conditioner will never be colder than the hot side so result will always be net heat.
