What kind of random assumptions are these, I drove one of these in Japan perfectly fine just last month, got the 70mpg as promised, and when I needed it to go highway speeds it was fine

70mph is 112 km/h which is about the upper end of what you'll see people going on a Japanese highway since that's already significantly over speed limit

So it's not like you need the car to push 80+ like in the US, nobody drives that fast

oh that's good, i don't have direct experience with them, but i do know that they take it easy on their mpg tests over there. also, every time i visited europe i had some mechanically inclined friend tell me about how they have cars going 70-80-100 mpg and NOT EVEN HYBRID!!! always with the exclamations. but also every time i was there, (handfuls), nobody ever had one of these tiny miracles of efficiency. everyone that had a car, had a normal sized car. so i never got to experience this miracle of efficiency that's so awesome and technological. but in my limited experience, probably overblown too.

i'm sad framework seems to be unable to compete with the big ryzen processors being put into random laptop models by the random companies. so if the chassis from someone like lenovo is "good enough" it's hard to want the framework just to be able to take it apart. i hope you can find the framework to be similarly money-saving as your backpack. maybe if you buy the refurbished versions they have the price will come in lower, but they do seem to ask a big premium for their top-line processor. think too, in the future, you're more likely to re-purpose the framework as htpc or gaming system where as your lenovo must be disassembled by poor people in a trash-heap in africa (most likely). i'm commenting to say your instincts are good, go for the framework, they are good people. ty for coming to my ted talk.
