#Tuya device integration with HA
1 messages Β· Page 1 of 1 (latest)
You keep posting and ignoring the replies, maybe this'll help
every time the switch auto turns off
What does that ?
the Motion sensor seem to sometimes not work at Sunset
How does it work? An automation? Something else?
seems to be around 10 sec or 11 after i turn the light off in Smartlife as im testing in here first to then add to home assistant. Ive made a lot of changes today so no clue what will happen tonight after Sunset for me!
Well... if you've not added them to Home Assistant then ... nobody here can help you
It's a SmartLife problem
Disable all the shit in SmartLife, add them to HA, use HA for control
I cannot test from switch at the same time! Has really I do not want to use the switch at all
Disable all the shit in SmartLife, add them to HA, use HA for control
they are added!
i have no automations setup in HA yet
And ... that's your problem
never done it before
We can't help with SmartLife
If you want that to work you need to use Tuya's forums/whatever their support method is
Then disable all the SmartLife logic
Write some automations in HA
Start with the first part - disable all the SmartLife logic and dive into HA's automations
Having two systems fight for control is going to be painful
Pick a thing, migrate it wholesale
ok I will try to do it slowly this week to get things all into HA then come back on it! if thats ok ?
Sure, but as I said we can't help with any SmartLife side of things, just the HA side
Sorry I have Dyslexia! not on purpose π And miss things! Ands thank you yes this is better for me! π
Is there any reason why Im getting a slow responce fron a sensor? I have a few of the same type but just getting one that can delay for upto 20 seconds or longer
If you look at the docs you'll see it's cloud based, that's always going to be slower than local
Also, Tuya's cloud service is ... not great
Tuya device integration with HA
Have a look at https://github.com/make-all/tuya-local and https://github.com/rospogrigio/localtuya which may help here
Thank on this I was thinking it maybe its the hub or that one sensor as all the other sensors are fine and pretty quick. wil have a look and read on it all !
If Im to disable tuya can I leave it there in home assistant to go back to it as a backup?
As a backup to what?
in case I mess things up trying to do thi schange over π
i also noticed now that tow of my sensors are not compatible is there a easy way to find devices that are to but?
Don't buy Tuya
You're 100% better off buying things that are #zigbee-archived (but still not Tuya)
Yes I know it stated that it was zigbee compatible but its not! So I will need to but two new ones which I think I might go for Hue ones to be sure I hope π
"it"?
I just got refunded for them and told to throw these in the bin which was really nice of them to do for me!
Its funny really as the devices say not compatible but home assistant got them into it, so I also checked the switch to make sure that was compatible as its teh same make! And its compatible so no clue why there sensors say it and Home assistant says not!
Well... you're talking in vague terms about a "thing"... without telling us what it is
Hard to help you when you won't tell us
Moes Motion Sensor sorry!
ZSS-X-PIR-C
Looks to be Zigbee, though not supported by Zigbee2MQTT... maybe it'll work with ZHA
Any non-Tuya hub is unlikely to support it
I tried to do a Automation with it and it does not show up. what is a ZHA
The default way of connecting Zigbee devices to HA - with a suitable coordinator
How were you trying to connect it? To your Tuya hub, or something else?
I added Tuya to HS but no clue how its doing it
You'd have to pair that device to your Tuya hub
(and then hope that their cloud integration exposes it)
Well, Zigbee devices need to be connected to some form of Zigbee hub/coordinator
Without that they're just pretty paperweights
the hub is zigby compatible
I got it in a pack at the start of trying all o fthis
not sure how I paired it now why I get confused!
I know I have a tuya account
not sure if smartlife sends it to zigbee why I think might be better getting a whole new setup?
Well, I think there's two things at play here
- Tuya is a shit show
- You have no idea what you're doing
For Zigbee you're 100% better off going direct with ZHA
Buy a #zigbee-archived coordinator (that channel can help) and you can use your Zigbee devices directly
what is a ZHA?
For the WiFi based Tuya devices you'd probably want to see if there's a good Zigbee alternative, and if not what your other options are
Ultimately not buying Tuya is the best thing
The issues I have here is most things are Zigbee though they are shit π your right there!
Well, it may also be that you don't understand Zigbee well enough to set up a healthy mesh
Just slapping a bunch of end devices around isn't going to work
I have issues due to different medical things needing different things so I tend to have to try to get what makes them work some how what makes it hard for me on things!
Well, HA can help there, if you get the basics right
why i thought best to come over to HS to do this
You do need to understand how things work though, many people think Zigbee is terrible because they don't understand how it works
I dont find anythign terrible and yes I seen there web site an dit is very complicated to get stated with it but liek anything they more time you spend with it the more you learn.
And we have a #zigbee-archived channel with many handy pinned messages
I also never had anyone helping me to try to understand it liek you are doing ! Thank you!
Is there anything you would recomend in a ground footing hub for me with HS?
Buy something CC2652 based. This list is a good one, both Tube and Electrolama have been proven to have excellent customer service. The current generation of EZSP sticks (see here for some) are also a good choice for ZHA.
Anything CC2530 or CC2531 based should be avoided - they're old, slow, and only suitable for a dozen or so devices. The Sonoff ZBbridge isn't advised since it uses WiFi (built in interference causing stability/reliability issues), and the HUSBZB-1 uses an older chipset so should be avoided.
Finally, the ConBee range are fine with deCONZ, but experience with ZHA and Zigbee2MQTT appears to be mixed.
See also the ZHA pages
so if Im going to do it this way its like you said doing it from the start again! So might also be best I get a new Raspberry pi 4 8mb ram to start new then I can have a temp backup in case of a failures
is there any where in the uk selling these sticks?
Plenty of places, but why limit yourself
is it better to have POE nowadays? I have no setup for this but wondering the benefits of it
Do you already have support for PoE?
Is this a good start for me this time? I can get from London! https://electrolama.com/projects/zig-a-zig-ah/
I also have a Yellow here but it does not work why Id rather buy in the UK as it took 3 months to get to me then does not work! Come from China!
Yeah, I have one of the ZZH and it works well
is it possible to have two setup in case of distances? like downstairs add another raspberry pi and add another of these ZZH into its usb? No I have no support for PoE not even sure if the router will do it
you mention these devices are no good (Zigbee 3.0 USB Dongle PlusβZBDongle-E) can you tell me why they are no good so I can have a clue at what issues down the line they have?
#zigbee-archived can help with all your Zigbee questions
- No, one coordinator, many (Zigbee) routers see https://blog.ceard.tech/2019/11/zigbee-and-home-assistant
- The Sonoff P (CC2652) dongle has build quality issues. The E dongle is fine with ZHA, not fine with Zigbee2MQT
- The yellow is just a Pi
are you talking to me π
There's nobody else in this thread...
i never notice how do you know this? π
i dont have a yaml of the automation
unless it hides it some where when I do one
how can i send you snapshots

You really want to:
- Use a code share site, and share the entire automation
- Post this in the #automations-archived channel so others can see your question
- Explain what your question is
Please use a code share site to share code or logs, for example:
- https://dpaste.org/ (select YAML for the language, and consider picking a longer expiry)
- http://pastie.org/ (select YAML for the language)
- https://paste.debian.net/ (you guessed it, select YAML as the language)
Please don't use Pastebin, since it can randomly add spaces to the main view. Please also don't share text as images since it makes it harder for people to help you. Remember that others may have colour blindness, impaired vision, etc.
