Based off of the search results here ... don't buy them
ZigBee motion sensors, aqara is great
WiFi products are.
Generally shite and have horrible battery life

And the Zigbee hub built into the HA Yellow device will support those devices? Does proximity matter, or is the range far enough that it doesn't matter within a house?
Device to device range will be about 8 to 10 meters, if you're lucky
Ah - that's how you deal with the proximity problem
Routers extend that
Everything meshes
There's a good guide in #zigbee-archived's pinned messages
Mostly anyway
Mostly
Most mains powered devices are a Zigbee router, for the exceptions see this community wiki page.
Iirc only zha is supported by the yellow’s built in chip at this time?
And that takes me down the Zigbee light route, so I see the rabbit hole there...
Z2M supports EZSP
Idk I cancelled my order and gave up
I finally got mine a couple of weeksd ago
And just to be clear, I don't know all the acronyms yet - Zigbee zha and mqtt are supported by the Yellow?
Zigbee is the protocol
ZHA and Zigbee2MQTT are two different sets of software that can interact with Zigbee devices
You’ll either run the zha or the z2m addon inside haos
I'll check up on zha too, but mqtt seemed pretty comprehensive as far as its integrations
If you search on Reddit/forums/here you’ll see plenty of people that went zha to z2m and not the other way around
Zigbee2MQTT not MQTT
Mqtt is generally a better route that you'll end up investigating at some point anyway
I need a roadmap 😄
for?
