could you help me out a little on where to find the logs? (I'm a newbie 🙃 )
configuration -> settings -> log
an error of some sort will probably pop up shortly after restarting I assume?
I don't see any but I'll try and look if I can find anything
I've seen them same problem reported across the forum, for some reason most people encountering this issue have a Conbee II aswell
Nope, no errors about ZHA to be found
yeah it's generally conbee that I have seen this from
I prefer decoupling, everything runs in seperate containers, either on the same host or multiple hosts, depending on my mood
tease
but you did 🤣
shhhh
Anyone have any ideas on this? I'm about ready to just try and switch to z2m but it's super annoying for one device.
I have a bunch of meetings at "real work" i'll peek at that when I have a few moments
I do have a zigbee-related error @tropic depot: https://www.toptal.com/developers/hastebin/idudurabam.apache
keep track of the occurences for a bit and see if they are going up
I will, i'll let you know
we should be able to make this work but it will require several changes
wont be fast
I would much prefer that over tearing everything down for one device. Just ping me when you have a second. I haven't been able to find a solution yet so I would really appreciate it.
@jolly narwhal have you received the tuya plug already?
`Logger: zigpy_deconz.zigbee.application
Source: /usr/local/lib/python3.9/site-packages/zigpy_deconz/zigbee/application.py:56
First occurred: 4:56:29 PM (3 occurrences)
Last logged: 5:11:29 PM
No watchdog response` The error has occurred 3 times already
i have started to see this in my logs: [0x5B1C:11:0x0008]: async_initialize: all attempts have failed: [DeliveryError('Request failed after 5 attempts: <Status.NWK_NO_ROUTE: 205>'), DeliveryError('Request failed after 5 attempts: <Status.NWK_NO_ROUTE: 205>'), DeliveryError('Request failed after 5 attempts: <Status.NWK_NO_ROUTE: 205>'), DeliveryError('Request failed after 5 attempts: <Status.NWK_NO_ROUTE: 205>')]
wasn't there before my upgrade
I do have my Conbee II connected directly to the USB 3.0 port of my Ordroid, just ordered a USB extension cord to see if that could fix it
I have extension cord on mines
is it possible to change the zigbee channel in zha?
i had done this with zigbee2mqtt after reading it was recommended to ensure it did not conflict with wifi channels
I think ZHA is running channel 15 by default @ripe hazel
awesome thanks @sour shadow
guess i'll be repairing everything today
lol
well - wondering if i need to do this
Not yet, I ordered five
I have, looks like they still have the old firmware and are discovered as TS011F_plug_3 (zigbee2mqtt)
this will not affect an already created network just FYI
I am cosidering to buy the sh**y tuya bridge
yes just read you have to reset
not sure i want to do that
so the network errors is that an issue on zigbee controller or on the device side? I was not seeing these errors before my upgrade
It's the radio. What coordinator are you using?
I'm considering the same, but maybe koenkk will make it work
Is this affecting all of your devices or just some? Any new hardware? Have you tried rebooting the affected device?
well lately i've had varying issues with devices not responding properly or going offline for no reason - i looked in logs and found those routing issues and going back see they happen periodically - i know for fact i wasn't having these issues before. Also now when I restart home assistant due to some change or update it seems to take much much longer to recover from zigbee when before it was in lock step with the message about home assistant being back online
literally like 2/3 minutes before my zigbee devices report back as back online
Do you have any offline devices left over?
not at the moment - i normally go through and reset it
also battery life has been horrendous as of late on my zigbee devies
Like a stale device that is no longer in use but still in the database
Routing issues on startup are expected, it takes a bit for the coordinator to build routes
but 2 to 3 minutes? (might be my perception but it used to come back much faster before)
2 to 3 minutes is excessive. Enable ZHA debug logging and post the startup log.
how do i do that?
found it
going to do it now
just to confirm i'm adding this correct
logger:
default: info
logs:
homeassistant.core: debug
homeassistant.components.zha: debug
bellows.zigbee.application: debug
bellows.ezsp: debug
zigpy: debug
zigpy_deconz.zigbee.application: debug
zigpy_deconz.api: debug
zigpy_xbee.zigbee.application: debug
zigpy_xbee.api: debug
zigpy_zigate: debug
zigpy_znp: debug
zhaquirks: debug
then restart
and am I only restarting zha or core also?
never mind - have to stop being lazy and read - getting that info now
so here is log
umm
how do send log
right away as i go through this i see devices i don't even have anymore
how do i clear that out
do i need to reset the zigbee stick?
No, you should be able to find the devices in the ZHA integration's device page and just remove them
The stick doesn't keep track of what's on your network
how do I get you log
there is allot of info in there
I have quite a bit of this
2022-02-04 13:13:53 DEBUG (MainThread) [zigpy.quirks.registry] Checking quirks for None None (00:0d:6f:00:15:20:42:fd)

so looking at my visualization
it shows an offline coordinator
Silicon Labs EZSP
huh
You can upload it to https://dpaste.org/ or PM me
Those are normal DEBUG level messages
anyone have any idea what this is 'GLEDOPTO GL-D-004ZS 66750b21 identify became unavailable
1:47:02 PM - 34 minutes ago" - i know the entity i am just not aware of this new button on entity under diagnostics
Am I right that in z2m, state.json stores settings of each device connected using it? What does coordinator_backup do then?
Keeps track of network settings
It is
I think Z2M will recreate it by reading the settings from your coordinator hardware
Ahh, this is dependant on dongle I'm using?
But if you re-flash your coordinator firmware or use a new one, your network will not be easily recoverable
Okay, will store it then
But.. is it possible to fully restore network if coordinator stick dies?
Yes, that's what the backup is for
Or do I have to manually pair each device
I need to dig into it, how to do such backup properly
It's done automatically by Z2M on shutdown I believe
In the other way than via GIT
but.. if for example my coordinator stick dies, will this kind of backup be enough to fully recover network?
Yes
Ahh, smart
Assuming you're currently using a CC2531 or a CC2652 and will be replacing it with a CC2652
Can someone sanity check this for me?
trigger:
- platform: event
event_type: deconz_event
event_data:
id: opple_switch_2_gang
event: 1002
action:
- service: light.toggle
target:
entity_id: light.hue_office
data:
brightness: 255```
When I press the button, the logbook shows the light is turned off, then instantly back on, by the same automation about 1/2 second later. the deconz event is triggered only once. Also it's only intermittent, so sometimes it works as intended and other times it just dims slightly for 1/2 second before going back to full brightness...
Have you tried monitoring the deconz events under developer tools -> events? Maybe there is more than 1 event coming in from the switch?
The config itself looks like it should work to me, although I don't use deconz myself
Yeah, event listener shows only one event coming from the switch
Quick question. If you move a ZigBee device ,will it automatically sort itself out and reconnect to the nearest repeater or do you need to re-pair it etc ‽
Maybe some other automations getting triggered then?
I think I read someone answered it depends on the device itself
The light shows no other automations triggering it, but I think I have a suspicion to follow now... Is the light triggered by the switch when HASS isn't running...
Ah ok. I don't know if it is struggling to connect cos of distance to nearest repeater or if it's not actually trying
In general, devices will reroute to better parents. That doesn't necessarily mean the closest parent though
Gotya. I'll try to re-pair it tomorrow then ..fingers crossed. Else I'll have to buy a repeater or something. It's not even that far. Maybe like 10 metres through a couple of patio doors at most ...hohum
in happy news - I got a Tuya/Zemismart hub to talk to my zigbee blinds and it's working like a charm now 😄
Ayyy fixed it! Turns out I had the light in a group in Phoscon for some reason. Likely something left over from when I broke my SD card and had to restore from a wonky backup. Ty for the sanity check @dusky hatch !
Nice, glad to help 👍
Posted this over on DrZZZs diy-led channel, but would also appreciate any contributions here.....
Ive just bought a heap of SK6812 WWA strips to go into my brewery and i need a recommendation for a ZIGBEE controller for these. I truly dont have the time at the moment to tinker/build a WiFi controller (I have done many controllers using esphome for my brewery) and I want to rely on a different protocol than Wifi as my internet infrastructure is pretty full. Im currently running Z2M on HA and just need something I can buy that is pretty much Plug n Play (no boxes/connections etc to make). I can use a RGB controller obviously, however from a staff perspective to adjust lights etc - id really like to avoide RGB and use something that ONLY represents WW/CW on the HA side of things rather than a full RGB color wheel.
I haven't seen any zigbee controllers for individually addressable leds. There are ready made WLED controllers that are plug and play tho
I have a question, I have reached a limit of 150 devices on my tube-zw. I also have my old cordinator (Deconz II usb stick). I sill need to add 20+ lights. I am using ZHA (migrated from Deconz).
Why is my zigbee wall switch an end device?
@ripe herald Is your coordinator CC2652P based? In that case you can go up to 200+ devices but you will need enough routers in your Zigbee mesh. And the +20 lights will be routers themselves. Shouldn’t be a problem.
Hey, have you considered using DMX? You might want to look at the discussion over on the DMX thread here: https://community.home-assistant.io/t/dmx-lighting/2248/181 which was also about controlling multiple strips.
@gaunt forge thanks for the reply. My coordinator is Connected via Texas Instruments CC1352/CC2652, Z-Stack 3.30+ (build 20211217). I have lots of powered devices but also a lot of battery powered devices so maybe the lights will work. I am going to give it a try. In case it doesn't I might have to setup a second zigbee mesh with the deconz USB stick. But then comes the question on what channel. My existing is on channel 25.
can some1 please link the upgrade instructions for the sonoff cc2652 dongle ?
nm , found it
Zigbee2mqtt - I have a fine zigbee network with 31 devices, but lately devices stop working and fallout and sometimes the whole network stops working until i restart HA. Any ideas?
Using a cc2531
Has anybody compared the Sonoff cc2652 dongle with repeater firmware against typical built in antenna stuff (like Ikea Tradfri switched outlets)? A noticeable improvement for diatant devices through walls, or not worth the bother?
Hey guys , any advice on IR blaster?
had tuya but now switch to z2m and looking for something i can use properly with HA
broadlink rm4 mini+htc is an option but its wifi and not zigbee , is there anything except the Heiman Smart IR ?
hey. i'm using ZHA, do i need the alexa HUE skill to connect an control my hue lights over HA/ZHA?
or is that hue-skill only needed for the hue cloud?
No you can pair the devices directly to zha
hmm.... did that, but for some reason, when i tell my echo device "turn off light in room xyz" i get the message that the hub cannot be found... but switching off the lights from my alexa app works just fine. So alexa can control the lights but it won't do that for my voice commands. any idea why that's the case? :/
its removed
anyone using these? https://www.zigbee2mqtt.io/devices/DJT11LM.html#xiaomi-djt11lm
they say they expose a binary for "vibration", but i'm not seeing that at all
hmm i just upgraded to 2022.2.1 and it seems my zigbee2mqtt integrations are not quite working right
it looks like HASS is connected to mosquitto and nothing else has changed
but the device statuses are all unavailable
lemme restart zigbee2mqtt
ok that seems to have done it
With zha i dont Need to use zigbee2mqtt anymore?
Correct. They both do the same thing so you can only use one (with a single radio).
I only use z2mqtt so far is there any difference?
They're just different implementations. Different approaches, different ways of supporting devices, work with more or less the same coordinators but there are some differences, etc.
Okay okay thanks!
also, the strength doesn't appear to update with any real frequency 🤔 i'm trying to use them on my washer/dryer, which i know for a fact the washer has been done for ~10min, and still shows a pretty high value for strength
I'm brand new to smart home space. I wanna get some wifi bulbs, and two battery powered remote switches to control them. But I don't want the switches themselves to be wifi because as I understand they will use way more battery.
So for the battery powered remote switch I'll need a zigbee or zwave solution. But it's my understanding that you need a hub to run zigbee or zwave devices.
But it's also my understanding that home assistant is it's own hub. I know many people get raspberry pi's for this but I was thinking why not just use my pc since it's always on anyways.
But I have a few questions and concerns.
- Home assistant is just a program right? I don't need to buy anything some kind of dongle right?
- My PC doesn't need to be hard wired right? My pc itself is connected to network and internet via wifi. I heard some hubs need to be directly connected to the router. Is this nessissary for home assistant.
- Both my router and my pc are in the basement. But the smart devices I want to control are on the second floor of my house. I have perfect wifi connection to my 2nd story room though. So if home assistant runs on my pc downstairs, as long as my wifi connection is good zigbee and zwave devices should work right?
- or am I completely wrong, do I need to buy a z-wave or zigbee hub in order to use zigbee or z-wave products. And if so will the distance from router be a concern since I cant hard wire to second floor?
- You still need a Zigbee dongle - the radio
- It really should be
- That's not how it works
Zigbee doesn't "piggyback" on the WiFi signal, it's completely separate
(same goes for Z-Wave)
-
so the Zigbee dongle - the radio needs to be plugged into my pc then right? But that means the radio is going to come from my pc in the basement. I don't have any other smart devices for a connection to hop between in order to reach the devices on the top floor. So how good is the range for a dongle in general. Do you think it will be problem?
-
how much worse would it really be using wifi over hard wire for pc with dongle plugged in. I get like 250mbps on my AC wifi connection to my pc and about upstairs I get like 50+mbps on N wifi band. (Both same network). I get wifi adds latency but shouldn't it be extremely negligible.
- Yes. Or you buy a network connected coordinator. Range is typically in the 5 to 8 meters region - depending on many factors
- Your server, and HA is a server, should always be wired. This is good practice, and doubly so if you're using Zigbee since it uses the same frequency band and you're just going to add interference
@sour shadow sorry to ping you, I need some god to help me locate my error x_x
When i give a voice command to ma alexa device, it tells me that the hub of the linked device/light doesn't respond/anwers.
But in my alexa app i can normally control my lights by buttonpress. For the alexa app to be working with the lights, ma AWS lambda instance must be working, right? So if the AWS instance works, the alexa app works and the lights work, it has do be something between my HA and the AWS instance, right?
You're sorry to ping me, but do it anyway
I mean, if you're going to lie, at least make it believable...
that wasn't a lie x_x I just feel that from past experience you have unbelievable huge knowledge about HA and I'm searching for my problem for hours already :/
You weren't sorry
If you were sorry you'd not have done it
So... it's a lie, or you're delusional
Either way, you've now ensured I'll never help you...
Uhm... Maybe there is some language barrier here, but I meant to say that I am sorry to be in the position where I felt the need to ping you, since my home is currently in a not-good state where my whole light-setup is not really working, and it's getting pretty dark outside
Sorry if that made you angry. Really.
You could just have posted the question, and then anybody who could help would have
Instead you demanded my attention...
Cmon man... I said I'm sorry if the ping annoyed you. And obviously you don't need to help me if you don't want to (or if you can't). No need to be mean now :/
i've done LOTS of things i'm sorry for
My wife says I should feel sorry a lot
@lofty junco just a quick look up in the chat seems you've been at this for a few hours... it certainly does help when the ones in here that actually know what they're talking about pipe up 😅
are you using nabu casa for your HA -> alexa solution?
or manually configured?
what does "pipe up" mean? ö_ö
i've only done the manual configuration with google home, not alexa... but then i ended up moving to nabu casa
manually configured, over AWS dev account
contribute to the conversation lol
and you've done all the stuff from here? https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/alexa/
sorry, i'm not native and i never heard that term before >_>
no worries
you've got the lights integrated to alexa via the hub then? and not via HA
if they work directly through alexa
yeah, so the thing is, i setted up that stuff like 2-3 months ago with only one light and it worked. Not i moved all my light over to HA and now none of them works because the hub cannot be found
if they work through the alexa app, but not through voice, that seems like an alexa issue
i HAD them connected by the physical hue hub before. i removed that hub now
the hue emulated one in HA
See also #voice-assistants-archived
i have a feeling that alexa still tries to connect to the physical hub, but i removed all linkings to that
@smoky jewel do you have discovery set up in zigbee2mqtt?
that's not what that's for
using ZHA
ah wait, not the hue emulation, sorry
the emulated hue hub integration lets HA act like it is a hue hub, so things that connect to hue hub can use it
i use that to expose devices to my harmony remote
yeah i think so
i just meant that the lights are connected to HA by ZHA. not the hue emulation
i've already paired a bunch of sensor and they have been working for a good while
double check
ah, a ... what was the name again, zigbee coordinator (ethernet)
something from TubeZ, i think this one: https://www.tubeszb.com/product/cc2652_coordinator/40?cs=true&cst=custom
^
yes
also from the alexa app
and how have you added them TO alexa?
via the emulated hue?
do you have that all set correctly? https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/emulated_hue/
via the HA config:
alexa:
smart_home:
locale: de-DE
endpoint: https://api.eu.amazonalexa.com/v3/events
client_id: xxx
client_secret: yyy
filter:
include_entities:
- light.schlafzimmer_decke
- light.schlafzimmer_martin
if you had them set up with the old hub, you probably need to remove them first before using the HA-exposed ones
where did you find docs on this?
i am not using the emulated hue, sorry that was a mis-phrasing before on my side. I unplugged my physical hue hub and i dont want to use it anymore. I only want HA to control my lights, ith alexa
^
oh... OH.... waaaaaaait
so the thing is:
the lights were connected to the phys hue hub before. I then went into the hue app and removed the lights there. I figured that this is removing them from hue and after that i was able to link them to HA
hmm... but even the one light that worked 2-3 months before isn't working now anymore...
in my alexa app it shows me that the lights are connected through "Home Assistant", so they are really connected to HA
it seems that just the voice command has problems... but why....
i'd ask in #voice-assistants-archived as recommended
lol i guess not 😅
already did, that channels seems to be not used much^^° and I am not 100% sure that's an error related to something voicecommand-related in the end... It's just so strange. My debug-level HA-logs show me a lof of things like 2022-02-05 21:29:48 DEBUG (MainThread) [homeassistant.components.alexa.smart_home_http] Received Alexa Smart Home request: {'directive': {'header': {'namespace': 'Alexa', 'name': 'ReportState', 'payloadVersion': '3', 'messageId': 'b0f66644-6bd0-4f54-8929-c8e0b3787fb0', 'correlationToken': ..... which also makes me think that HA works fine with the AWS instance in the cloud... I guess wi will try to debug on alexa-side, but there i can't do much aside from removing the HA-skill and re-enabling it (which i already did)
yeah, we've gone out of my depth on alexa unfortunately
can a zigbee remote control a wifi lightbulb? zigbee usually sends a separate radio wave right? So that wouldn't be picked up by wifi but the zigbee dongle is connected to a pc which is connected to the wifi network. So would the signal go to the dongle and then the dongle would us the wifi network to send the signal to the bulb?
Or would wifi lightblub just plain not work with a zigbee switch?
Home Assistant can
Anything can control anything with home assistant tbh
With HA it's not can device X control device Y, it's can I connect device X and device Y to HA
A ZigBee remote can deploy a azure VM, and when it is deployed it can turn on a WiFi bulb
got it
I should make a ZigBee remote deploy a cloud vm tbh
Just to impress the dinosaur managers i have a few levels above me

so i doublechecked the config and yes, discovery is on (homeassistant: true)
just for the fun of it i restarted the daemon and now the devices have flipped from unreachable to disabled. unsure of what that means
Sadly it‘s not realtime capable, would deploy it for my testbed 5/7
What isn't?
Home assistant, so i would‘nt let it manage the security functions in a test bed
It isn't real-time, but it is good enough for non real-time nerds
Yes
Brb RTOS
Trying again
Zigbee2mqtt - I have a fine zigbee network with 31 devices, but lately devices stop working and fallout and sometimes the whole network stops working until i restart HA. Any ideas?
using zigbee2mqtt standalone or addon? because neither one should drop the whole network dependent on HA
Addon - Yea the host was what I meant
Rebooting the host seems pretty extreme - try simply restarting the add-on next time
What coordinator are you using though?
Cc2531 - with update fw
Past performance is not an indicator of future performance
🤷♂️
Also, the stick is well know for locking up
is that what's in that nortek?
What you're experiencing is exactly what the stick is known to do
Ordered a sonoff stick, waiting for it to arrive but why does it change performance
lol what is that reaction?

Beacause its newer?
Yea - but still dont get that it changes performance

The CC253x is like a pedal bike
The CC2652 is like a passenger jet
I forgot harder
yea
Some dangerous things are going on here
hey, i found the problem but not the final solution 🙂
so the thing is, that i'm using "alexa household" with my wife. And since my AWS dev account is only linked to me, the voice commands only work if i command an echo device "alexa, switch to my account". afterwards the lights work just fine. But of course the commands also need to work when the echo devices are set to my wife. But I don't tink creating a 2nd dev-account for my wife and duplicating the skill will be good, because HA will get confused with 2 skills... So i somehow need to share my created dev-skill with my wife's amazon-account... but that seems to be harder than it should :/
hi guys, can someone recommend me some Zigbee light switches (neutral cable ones) UK
anyone know how exactly the ikea remotes work with their light sources, I paired both the remote and the LED gunnarp to my sonoff hub using ZHA first and while trying to pair the devices with each other too I seem to have lost the LED from the hub
the weird thing is it did all the flashing and dimming while eventually settling so I wonder what did the LED pair itself to in the end
will be a pain to take the LED fixture down from the ceiling
has anyone flashed the firmware on the sonoff zigbee 3.,0 plus usb stick? I've been trying for a few hours now without success
I think the 2538-bsl.py script has a new option for the sonoff https://github.com/JelmerT/cc2538-bsl/pull/114
I have done for many of these sticks. Are you using the flash2 programmer from TI to flash? What errors are you seeing?
when i tried that flash2 programmer it just quits after hitting the play button
python3 cc2538-bsl.py -e -w -v --bootloader-sonoff-usb Downloads/CC1352P2_CC2652P_launchpad_router_20210128.hex
ERROR: No serial port found.
I know it's on COM3
/dev/ttyS3 says Permission denied and sudo doesn't see the python libraries since they're installed for the user
have you inserted the sonoff stick with the 'boot' button pressed? it is not going to bootloading mode. see the reference https://notenoughtech.com/home-automation/sonoff-zigbee-3-0-usb-dongle-plus/#jp-carousel-28246
I hold the button when plugging it in..
sudo chmod 666 /dev/ttyS3
michal@Monolith:/mnt/c/Users/micha$ python3 cc2538-bsl.py -e -w -v -p /dev/ttyS3 --bootloader-sonoff-usb Downloads/CC1352P2_CC2652P_launchpad_router_20210128.hex
ERROR: [Errno 13] could not open port /dev/ttyS3: [Errno 13] Permission denied: '/dev/ttyS3'
you sure it is on ttyS3 - seems unusual. check dmesg to see if your sonoff is detected
I flashed on windows though, but this should be the same
it's a windows system.. it's on COM3 which maps to /dev/ttyS3
maybe it's just impossible under windows 11.. might need to try a linux vm
how could I even tell that it entered bootloader mode?
I'd just use the Texas instruments GUI tool for Windows
I've used it twice, never had issues
it either says that the device is not un bootloader mode or just quits
>Initiate access to target: COM3 using 2-pin cJTAG.
>No response from device. Device may not be in bootloader mode. Reset device and try again.
If problem persists, check connection and baud rate.
>Connecting over serial bootloader failed: No response from device. Device may not be in bootloader mode. Reset device and try again.
If problem persists, check connection and baud rate.
>Failed to create device object.
best case
otherwise quits
I don't even see anywhere to set a baud rate
either the device does not go into bootloader mode or the software/os is somehow broken or preventing access.. running it as administrator so I hope that's not the issue.. no access warning or security warnings in windows
hmm.. i can set a baud rate ON the device.. it seems to be 9600..
aha! got it!
I had to run the windows terminal as administrator.. then the python command works
@remote patio posted a code wall, it is moved here --> https://hastebin.com/eviyonuyim
oops.. a couple of lines too long :/ sorry
where can you find the changelog of the coordinator firmware for Texas Instruments CC2652P devices?
oh.. nice.. it just auto-joins the zigbee network
so it worked for COM3 as ttyS3 but now I'm permission denied on COM4 as ttyS4.. baffling
does anyone have any problems with conbee2 and 2022.02.02?
wont work for me
had to force the device from COM4 to COM3 with a bunch of warnings..
I don't use my cobbee2 anymore.. sorry :/
There seem to be some bugs in 2022.2.2 (e.g. renaming of devices not possible) maybe that’s the problems you are seeing…
I‘ll wait until 2022.2.5 before jumping on 2022.2
yay, none of my zigbee devices show battery level anymore.
what a wonderful feature 😛
I've found battery levels to be wholly unreliably with zigbee
I use z2m so I've not been affected by that
but i have a completely (in my opinion) useless 'identify' button now..
how would that work? flashing light? in theory
I didn't know zigbee supported that?
no idea
thought of it as a homekit feature
i suppose i could test it
everything stoped working for me when i upgraded, tried to make a clean install , zha seems to work, but something is wrong, first zha found a device but the light did not get that it was bound, next try with a tempsensor , zha does not find anything
it indeed does flash the LED on the door sensor i tried
that's useful in some situations
not in many, really
i mean, if you have a pile of them on your desk in front of you, i suppose
initial setup mainly
but you should be pairing them in their final location anyway
Aqara don't
I finally configured two sonoff zigbee 3.0 plus devices as routers..
i use a sonoff 3.0 usb thing as coordinator, and have a few of those Tradfri repeater things
yeah well aquara is what I have the most off.. will be re-pairing them after I deploy the routers..
and some sonoff zbminis also, as routers
the sonoff routers IMMEDIATELLY grabbed a bunch of devices after automatically joining the mesh when permitted
which ones?
good question.. I didn'ty actually pay attention to that.. let me reconnect one
this battery thing has annoyed me lol
it's not a major problem as long as it gets fixed soon..
ok.. the router immediately grabbed on to all the aquara power plugs and tradfrii repeaters and lights
didn't get any of the aquara switches or ... what's that philips zigbee thing...
yes the dongle with router firmware
I started with that weak and cheap zigbee coordinator that many people start with.. then went on to a conbee2.. then moved to the lama (somethign like that) stick
I feel like I'm developing dementia.. just forgetting so much
i went from the Sonoff ZBBridge to this Sonoff Zigbee 3.0 Plus
ive heard of that
the best and worst zigbee devices I have are the xiaomi aquara ones
some of them are super solid.. and some are flakey..
don't know if it's just a matter of signal... so hopefully these two routers will make that clearer
are there any other affordable zigbee brands apart from xiaomi?
what country are you in ?
and how is the doorlock in your experience?
doesn't seem to pick anything else up.. maybe if I did a pairing from scratch
Australia

Hello,
I want to create a smart RGB led strip. Someone knows the difference between these 2 controllers(except the price)
One is likely to be crap, the other is made by Gledopto
I'd trust the gledopto a lot more
The Gledopto one is also likely to be a lot easier to wire up
Tuya is a roll of the dice, they pay even less attention to the Zigbee spec than Xiaomi do (but still more than Sonoff)
ah okay
and for motion sensors?
xiaomi aqara
is that good?
because i find philips hue motion sensor way to expensive
They're not bad - not as good as the Hue ones, but they're ok
Okay
I like the Develco/Frient multi-sensor but it is a bit big
final question for now. any advice(dont know how it is called) but the one you putt behind the light switch to make a dumb light smart
Depends on where in the world, but from your AliExpress link I'm guessing https://www.zigbee2mqtt.io/supported-devices/#v=Ubisys will be an option
hi guys, can someone recommend me some Zigbee light switches (neutral cable ones) UK
So I think I have bound this correctly (Ikea remote to Ikea bulb) but it doesn’t actually do anything
Like none of the buttons do something
So I presume i’ve stuffed something up
got my lights working now but no sensors, is there any breaking changes with zha that i have missed?
Is there a way to reduce the data update frequency?
The heiman air quality sensor I have is pushing new data points every 3s and it seems this is blowing up the DB size (~10GB currently)
I use Zigbee2mqtt.
You can try changing the minimum report interval to something larger, like 60 seconds
How you call switch you need to press and it bounces back turning light?
Momentary is one of the terms
Ohh, can be
I've got 2 zigbee modules one exposes switch_type, second does not
First behaves like regular relay, whenever I'm pressing button, it toggles light on, when I'm changing switch state, it turns lights off
Second, without switch_type state behaves like my switch is momentaty, when it is not. I't regular on/off switch
Is it possible to force this dimmer to act like my in-wall switch
So change of in-wall switch state would be on or off
Maybe
Where should I source informations? dimmer is read as device below: https://www.zigbee2mqtt.io/devices/TS110E_2gang.html#lonsonho-ts110e_2gang
Well, telling us the device was a good starting point 😉
Now somebody who has one may be able to help you
I guess this device is so niche so nobody would have it, it was integrated with last release tho
Is it possible to try manual device integration?
After some time of googling, I think it will be easier to convince my girlfriend to change in-wall switches to momentary than to reprogram this dimmer hah
I've just installed zigbee2mqtt and migrated some devices over to it from my ZHA setup - problem is, not all the device "actions" seem to be there - for example, where is "Device Offline" in zigbee2mqtt? that I used to use in ZHA?
There's not a 1:1 relationship between ZHA and Z2M - something that exists in one may not exist in the other
but surely something like a device going offline is standard?
You'll want to enable availability though - https://www.zigbee2mqtt.io/guide/configuration/device-availability.html#availability-advanced-configuration
i thought availability was a bad idea on battery powered end devices?

Passive devices (everything that is not an active device, mostly battery powered devices): these devices need to check-in every 25 hours, they cannot be pinged so if they don't they will be marked as offline.
yeah, that!
Impact to battery life ... clearly zero
ohhh i see - so in ZHA even the "passive" devices were communicating every so many hours
i thought devices like door sensors only communicated when they were used
They'll be reporting in more than that - my Xiaomi devices report hourly, some of the other brands report in every 2 hours, or 3 hours
didn't know that! learnt something new today - thought that as they were battery powered they would want to be as quiet as possible
It takes very little power to report their status
would be nice if things connected at all,
now to figure out how to create a notification based on if the "availability" is "offline"?
I really want to use ZHA since i find it more user friendly than Zigbee2MQTT. but for some reason whenver i connect an ikea tradfri 5 button remote to ZHA the battery dies within a day...
I had this! found it to be cos I was using a sonoff zigbee bridge
just swapped to a Sonoff Dongle Plus and it's fixed the issue
For zha… this works.. the exclusion stuff not so much right now
oh wait.
i have the sonoff dongle plus
that metal usb
The entity state changes, like any other entity in HA
that's the one
that's what I used to have on my Tradfrie on/off buttons using sonoff zigbee bridge and ZHA - that's the whole reason I switched coordinator to Sonoff Zigbee Dongle Plus and Z2M
updating OTA?
yes
1 remote isnt up to date
but when i press update it takes 1.5 hours
and even with a new battery it goes to empty
oh 😦
my switches took about 1 hour each
oh damn
For a battery device it can easily
zigbee isn't really geared towards large bandwidth xfers
and how much does your battery drain
it's strange, it says it was draining a lot - but they are now all reporting 100% again (I updated them last week)
Its not necessary to update unless you believe there is a functionality added
make sure u are right next to the device the remote is connected to
I'd re-pair the device right next to the dongle and then try the update again
no idea mate - I am not a Discord expert by any means
ok - good luck!
thanks
Only problem i find with Z2M great that a guy is maintaining it
but what if he stops working in it
it probably stops workign after a while
I mean more like no devices added etc
I only seem to be able to see it as a mqtt topic?
e.g. topic = zigbee2mqtt/Bedside Switch/availability
payload: online
is diy zigbee a thing? Like the esp stuff where you can buy a basic board then add sensors of your own?
Well, if the entity is unavailable, the entity state will change
Do you recommend Aqara T1 temperature sensor over Aqara temperature sensor?
it's such a popular project that if he stopped working on it, it would be forked and maintained by someone else
Hello (sorry If my english isn't perfect),
I'm new to zigbee, i just buyed a Conbee2 key to be able to use ZIgbee device on my HA-raspberryPI4.
When I try to pair a SonOff BASICZBR3, it's not found (i tryied on ZHA & deCONZ, whereas the key is well recognized).
The LED indicator on the sonoff is flashing like the documentation say that it needs to.
Did you know a particular "famous" issue that can block me like that ?
Thank's in advance
For the pairing I have less than a meter
Then you should be fine
Maybe that's the Conbee2 that is not working? I don't know how to check that, and maybe if deconz and ZHA recognized that's enough to tell that it's working. deCONZ tells me to update the Conbee2, but anything has changed after that
on what ? Conbee ?
Yes
Looking for a battery powered zigbee 2 gang wall switch. I've read that some zigbee devices are not 100% compatible. Anybody have any experience with this product? https://www.amazon.com/Wireless-Controller-Automation-Scenario-Installation/dp/B09CQ5J362/
or maybe you could recommend a similar product that is more compatible.
I think that i have the latest
There's a pinned message with lists of known working hardware
oh, sorry. missed it. Thanks
Ok, it's works now...
I switched from an USB3 to USB2 and used an USB extension
anyone had weird behavior with the new diagnostics change? My aqara leak sensors, all have a device temperature diagnostic, but half display a temp and half don't. And the half that do, I'm suspicious it's correct at all
I'm surprised they'd even have a temp sensor, and one reports 20 deg the other 25 deg
similar with my aqara magnetic door and window sensors
Try to re-pair them without deleting them in HA first. I‘ve seen the missing entities getting added that way.
It's not that the entities are missing, it's adding entities (diagnostic) that I dont think are real?
any reason why part of a sensor (a single device) would have "unknown" reporting for one one part (leak sensor) but the battery would be reporting just fine? running zigbee2mqtt
both battery and temperature are reporting in, but the leak sensor isn't. Which is the real point of the sensor honestly
Feb 06 19:42:17 pihole npm[26114]: Zigbee2MQTT:info 2022-02-06 19:42:17: MQTT publish: topic 'zigbee2mqtt/0x00158d00024bf19d', payload '{"battery":80,"battery_low":null,"linkquality":247,"temperature":9,"voltage":2965,"water_leak":null}'
this is what i'm seeing reported to the mqtt topic
They do have an internal temperature sensor. It's not for measuring the ambience temperature though. (Only the internal temperature)
If you have any diagnostic entities that don't work, you can ignore or disable them.
please tell me - there is any chance add unsupported device to zigbee2mqtt ?

No worries time 2 buy new generation switch 🙂
wondering if anyone is here?
🦗
Yeah, just ask your question
How to change the domain of a Device in ZHA. i have a switch that is detected as a light
And it's just a switch, not a dimmer?
I don't use ZHA, but I don't think you can tell it to change the domain. You could wrap it in a template switch though
Is that a GPO that then plugs into another GPO? 😂
no. a wall sock.
but doing a template is just wrapping it and still would detect as w light when doing lookups, etc
lol socket
ah lol
lol
Dumb question…I have a Hue hub already, is it possible to use it for other Zigbee devices?
Or do I need to buy a USB Zigbee adapter?
The Hue hub will only pair to Hue and Friends of Hue stuff.
If you plan on any other Zigbee devices you‘ll need a Zigbee coordinator (usb stick) for that. Make sure you get one based on CC2652
2652P acceptable?
Yes. It is the same
2531 is right out? Must be why they’re 1/5th the price lol
They work, but as you keep adding more devices they performance and range suffers a lot. Hence not advised
Oh actually I was looking at a 2 pack. $29 for a single Sonoff isn’t bad
Base don where you are the sonoff dongle plus - the new zigbee3.0 is based on cc2652 as well
And it's pretty cheap
SONOFF Zigbee 3.0 USB Dongle Plus, TI CC2652P + CP2102N Zigbee USB Stick voor ZHA in Home Assistant of Zigbee2MQTT, Open HAB etc https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B09KXTCMSC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_F49SY1C9RY511WAA6ND6?psc=1
Any reason I should look at zwave instead?
Or like a combo adapter (if there is one)
Yep that's the one. Pretty expensive from where I buy though
Is it cheaper than that somewhere else?
Oh you mean where you buy from it’s more
Zwave devices are pretty expensive. Moreover in future when matter / thread becomes standard cc2652 will automatically be compatible
Well I’ll just pull the trigger on the Zigbee then. Thanks.
Then I can start swapping off wifi devices. Just too many lightbulbs to have them all on wifi.
Zigbee lights seem relatively cheaper, too
Nevermind, shopee Singapore just increased the price as well. It was sgd 14 earlier https://shopee.sg/SONOFF-ZB-Dongle-P-Zigbee-3.0-USB-Dongle-Plus-Wireless-Zigbee-Gateway-Analyzer-Zigbee2MQTT-USB-Interface-Capture-with-Antenna-i.478906823.14306891126?sp_atk=19f8560a-1fea-40ce-b625-1f707ff87873
That’s only $13CAD 😱
Meanwhile you can still continue with your hue and do all automations
Wish I jumped on one when they were that cheap lol
Yea I’ll probably keep the hue stuff for important rooms and lights like the main bedroom and living room. They are higher quality and have more features than some of the others I’ve seen. But no reason to spend that much on white only bulbs.
I’m having so much fun automating everything lol
One ypu also have sonoff dongle, you can still control any device to any device since all are entities within HA
So you could still be using hue and any new zigbee devices connected to sonoff dongle and still control 1 another thru HA
The cost of the coordinator is miniscule compared to all the stuff you buy around it anyway
And I've even bought three fairly pricy coordinators, and their combined cost isnt even 1/4th of the rest of my mesh
any reason why part of a sensor (a single device) would have "unknown" reporting for one one part (leak sensor) but the battery would be reporting just fine? running zigbee2mqtt
both battery and temperature are reporting in, but the leak sensor isn't. Which is the real point of the sensor honestly

see above link 🙂
Thanks so much! I’ve already ordered it on Amazon and it will arrive tomorrow 🙂 worth the extra $10
I ordered some bulbs with it too 😂
here it's 4x the price on amazon. prettty much the same price as a conbee
Long live tubes Poe coordinator
Are all Zigbee devices guaranteed to be compatible with HA?
Or do I need to watch what brands I buy?
Depends on your integration
Usually everything works with ZHA or zigbee2mqtt
Some work better with one than the other
I think thats the way aqara works, you need to trigger it before the value shows
thanks, i'll go ahead and trigger then, thanks
Dropping it in water should confirm that
😄 i might just touch the two leads together 😛
man, ,just updated to 2022.2.3 hoping that the zigbee battery thing was solved
apparently not.
wait, yes it is!
it just took some time
Hi,
I currently have a problem with my IKEA Shortcut Buttons, maybe someone can help (I hope this is the right place):
I have 3 Shortcut buttons. I used them before without Home Assistant and they worked.
Now I connected them to home Assistant.
On is working flawlessly.
On only can single press (no double press no long press)
And one doesn't react at all (it pairs, but no presses are recognised)
Re-configuring fails all the time.
I have no idea what to do.
How far are they away ( do you have routers?) and which coordinator are you using?
Are the 3 buttons the same model? I don't have any of the shortcut buttons but the Ikea 5 button light control required me to listen for events manually.
also for people to help it might be useful to mention if you are using the ikea gateway or some other zigbee coordinator.
ah, sorry.
I'm using a
SMARTLIGHT CC2652P Zigbee USB Adapter SLZB-02
The 3 buttons are identical (TRADFRI SHORTCUT Button)
I just found this github issue:
https://github.com/zigpy/zha-device-handlers/issues/1204
Now i get the action for long press etc.
but the one that dost react is unchanged.
ok, after repairing it a few times, it started working again 😅
sorry for the hassle
So it seems the leak sensor still won't work even though i've tried triggering it by touching the leads
i think i'm going to remove the device and add it again
can't even remove it

I have a Aqara Smart plug. (https://www.aqara.com/eu/smart_outlet.html)
I use a Conbee II and it finds the plug. BUT. It does not find all the information the plug is supposed to give.
I use ZHA.
Problem:
a) Not all information can be shown.
b) I can turn it on and off which is good enough. BUT. after idling for some time HA loose the connection to it. That means. If i manually turn it on and off i can then use it from HA. But after a nights sleep it does not work anymore until i turn it on and off.
Any thoughts?
You have a coordinator and a single powered device ? that is your entire mesh ?
stuff I wish I knew last week before starting my zigbee journey: get the zha-network-card and use this to configure/check your devices instead of the config>integrations>zigbee path
Does anyone have any issues with hue dimmer v1 on latest z2m? It works after pairing for a short period and then won’t work again unless removed and repaired. Zzh stick
Was never an issue on previous version I was running of z2m 1.18. But this is the only device on latest z2m I have issues with. Could possibly be defective the dimmer now for
I don’t know if I’ve done something wrong migrating from old repo that has me stuck on z2m 1.18 to new repo and z2m 1.23…
Or my device is shot.
It’s the only one I have though so difficult to troubleshoot.
i can confirm that both v1 & v2 works on the latest release
Sorry what changed?
There doesn’t seem to be a mosquito message after some time the led on remote goes red when pressing any button
Nope. But this didn’t have with previous version. It’s since being on latest and is the only device to have this behaviour
I've run latest-dev of z2m for over a year
Never had a device fall off after an upgrade
Seems strange that device has faulted at the same time as upgrade. But maybe it has broken
Device shows as available in z2m
If you press it, does it show last seen now?
Last seen is saying N/A
I have found that the Zigbee device I have been trying to get working has a manual which specifies manufacturer specific attributes I can set. (Page 9 - https://docplayer.net/135845279-Technical-manual-for-zhemi101-zigbee-external-meter-interface-ha.html). How do I set these values in ZHA?
I can find the metering cluster and I can find an attribute with this identifier, even if it has the wrong name
if I click GET then it comes back with enum8.undefined_0x00 as a value
Have you enabled last seen ?
This seems to be my issue as listed on here… but it happens time and time again
Force remove, re-pair and then works briefly
I have now. And it’s 1 day ago
Then it isn't connected
likely would need to be implemented in a quirk. you could also look into zha-toolkit (installable with hacs) which has some features they may help without a quirk.
Nope and I understand it won’t work if it’s not connected… but why does it keep doing disconnecting is what I’m trying to get to the bottom of
Connected to a router you are powering off?
Greetings everyone, Im new in this business that is why I just purchase smart switch (zigbee) by Moes ... and after that I decide to check how to integrate it in has :) Looks like I would need Gateway. don``t want to use cloud connection. I prefer to be local. That is why I would like to ask you which ZigBee hub I should get and how to extend after that the zigbee network ? another hub or something smaller just USB powered ? Im open to suggestions . (Keep in mind that Im new in here and communication with me can be pain :D :D :D since I dont know some/most of the abbreviations that you are using 🙂 )
Where do I find out which router a device is connected to? I don’t turn any of mind you at the mains
I’ve just reset it again and reconnected. There is a firmware update available so will attempt that also
The map will tell you
It’s connected to a router (ikea spotlight) that spotlight is much further than the hue bulbs in the same room or even the co-ordinator is much closer to the dimmer
The map actually looks like quite a mess
You could do selective pairing
Only allow pairing to router xyz
I've never had a use for it
I will have a play. That could be the issue though!
No. I have a bunch of lights as well
Not all lights are routers
even so, I really dont think routing it is the problem.
I read that zigbee2mqtt would allow the plugs to report power usage and temperature and stuff that zha does not allow.
Is there any big drawback to change? (more than re-pairing)
Hey 🙂 Is there any "native" way to make a hue remote dimmer (that i already linked to my HA) control a cvertain light group? I mean, I guess I can create a script for that, but just asking in advance if there is any "dimmer"-functionality existing already 🙂
Anyone know who to contact to get Gledopto GL-C-002P added to ZHA ??
or can i add it my self ?
There are blueprints
Doesn't seem to be a simple one: https://github.com/Koenkk/zigbee2mqtt/issues/11202
Would anyone have a comment on the accuracy of different brands/models of humidity sensor please? I have 3 sensors on the shelf of my workshop. The standalone Screwfix thing says the RH is 41%. The wireless Amazon thing says it's 50%. The Sonoff SNZB-02 says it's 52%. The Sonoff however does definitely have the smallest hole for air to reach the sensor. I don't know which one of them to believe. Am I better buying something else if I want to use it to control a dehumidifier?
Hi everyone. i am using zha with a cc2531 stick. every device works well expect my hue outdoor motion sensor. everytime i put it outside, it looses connection after a day or so. Since i am using it to trigger my outdoor light, this is annoying at latest when you are trying to find the keyhole in the dark. I have no glue why, it seems that my motion sensor disconnects only if it is outside, but not at the same moment i put it outside. It seems that the sensor is okay until a day or so but then suddenly is not responding any more. It is not possible that this is a range issue, since my outdoor light is less than a meter away and acts as router. Any idea how to figure out where the problem is?
Is the motion sensor actually connected through the light?
Reset the motion sensor and join it to the mesh in the exact spot where it will end up sitting
my Conbee II is showing an LQI value of 17 and a RSSI value of 21, would this be considered good?
no, it i runs with batteries if you ment this with connected
Can you put it outside then take a screenshot of your Zigbee Visualization?
did exactly this. I reset it on the ladder before i fixed it 10cm's away from this spot.
End devices pick a specific parent node and only switch if it goes offline (from what I've seen). If it picked a parent when you joined it indoors, it won't use the light you have outside.
Turn off all the other ZR devices except for the outside light then trigger the sensor. Should force it to find a new host
it currently is outside but not available
What are your other devices? I recall reading something the other day about some bulb or another having trouble with dropping devices it was relaying unless the firmware is updated
a wait a second, i have to figure out, how to upload an image from the clipboard
A round of firmware updates for everything probably won't hurt
@sour shadow is it bad?
https://ibb.co/PGKCyV0 Motion Sensor
https://ibb.co/R7DxxVK Device in Network
i am not sure if it is possible to update hue firmware without a hue hub?
Yes it is
I think I read that it may be possible to download the files and apply them manually. Do the bulbs have Bluetooth too? Can you update them with the Hue phone app?
never tried, read something about this on reddit, but sounds complicated
ok, then i will try zigbee2mqtt then
Hmm weird, because the devices I have connected show 235 and 255, it's just the coordinator (the conbee II) that's showing the LQI being that low
255 also often means I have no idea
Where is the coordinator device itself showing an LQI?
It's connected to my ordroid via a USB 2.0 extension cable
it's showing the exact same values as when I plug it into the USB 3.0 directly
The USB 2.0 is plugged into the USB 3.0 though, but that shouldn't matter, should it?
Right, but what would an LQI mean "for the coordinator"? LQI is for one direction of a link between two devices
yea I don't understand it either lol, that's why I'm so confused
Where are you seeing this?
I'll send a screenshot, it's through the ZHA intergration, if I go to "devices" and click on the coordinator
This is what it looks like
and these are the 2 devices connected to it:
Probably just a UI glitch, don't worry about it
so I shouldn't worry about the values my coordinator itself is reporting? xD @austere patio
What about the 2 devices connected to it, is that considered good?
If they work then it's fine
yea I probably shouldn't worry too much about the numbers if things just work lol
The raw numbers don't mean much, LQI is for the last hop
thanks guys if this discord didn't exist I'd be banging my head a lot more
How do i update the zigpy libraries on my ha?
What are you trying to do?
You generally do not. ZHA installs the libraries it needs.
https://github.com/home-assistant/core/issues/65292
Look at last comment before closing.
You don't need to, 0.0.66 is the most recent release of quirks and it's installed by ZHA in 2022.2.2
well. its still not working. 🙂
What does the device signature look like for your plug?
is this it @austere patio ?
https://pastebin.com/DuGrXARr
It's got the quirk loaded so it should work: zhaquirks.xiaomi.aqara.plug_mmeu01.Plug
do i need to pair it again or something?
That probably won't hurt, give it a try
Is there a way - when switching from zha to zigbee2mqtt- to keep all coupled devices?
Thanks I’ll check it out
I just keep checking back to see when #zigbee-archived might turn to #matter 😎
Anyone able to help me with my struggle to do zigbee groups? I tried binding the remote to the globe but it does nothing (using Z2Mqtt)
I don't think so
Wondering if anyone have any experience with zigbee device rejoin times for when home assistant has lost power for a couple of hours and comes back up.
Running zha with a conbee II on a rpi4 (using usb 2 port with extender cable) with at the time of writing only one aeotec button (endpoint, smarthings branded). It usually reports (temperature) very frequently (about every 2-5 minutes) and has done so reliably for months, but after power losses it takes anywhere from 30 minutes to two hours before it comes back. Is this "normal" or have I messed up somewhere?
Might be within reason.
If there aren't any mains powered devices to create a mesh.
Can you show the visualization from the UI?
Got a Conbee II too, now i try to decide if it is better to use ZHA or Deconz and I do not find much information in regard to comparison. Can someone point me in the right direction or share experience?
Hmm, started with a cc2531 stick, but that thing started crashing after a time, so I got the conbee
Ah, frying pan to fire...
Yes, hang on. Have to find a way to share the screenshot. It's not letting me share images here.
Please use imgur or other image sharing web sites, and share the link here.
Image posting is blocked in most channels to discourage people from sharing text as images. Sharing text as images assumes that everybody sees the world as you do, which isn't the case. Some people are colour blind, or have visual impairment that means they can't make sense of an image of text.
What would be a better solution? Atleast the conbee i could still sent back.
is this the part you meant? https://imgur.com/EkZVo0c
Buy something CC2652 based. This list is a good one, both Tube and Electrolama have been proven to have excellent customer service. The current generation of EZSP sticks (see here for some) are also a good choice for ZHA.
Anything CC2530 or CC2531 based should be avoided - they're old, slow, and only suitable for a dozen or so devices. The Sonoff ZBbridge isn't advised since it uses WiFi (built in interference causing stability/reliability issues), and the HUSBZB-1 uses an older chipset so should be avoided.
Finally, the ConBee range are fine with deCONZ, but experience with ZHA and Zigbee2MQTT appears to be mixed.
☝️
How far apart are these things? You don't have any repeater devices in that map
1,8 meters apart, clear line of sight.
Maybe the FW on the CC2531 is old, but i really need some debugger to flash it?
Does Wifi affect zigbee? Have you got this stuff right next to your router or another major device?
Yes it does
The CC2531 is just ancient crap... to be avoided
kelsar: i switched from conbee ii with deconz to zha and the Sonoff 3.0 dongle, worlds of difference!
I got the Sonoff 3.0 stick. It seems to be rock solid
Zha is very elegant compared to deocnz, very well integrated. And the sonoff clearly has more reach.
The pi is connected with ethernet over a 20m cable. My devices doesn't pick up any wifi networks in the area. It is quite remote, so not a lot of electronics nearby.
The sonoff cannbe flashed to better firmware without special tools (no hardware needed)
I haven't updated mine because it works and I saw differing reports about issues with some new firmware versions
Flashed mine directly after buying to most recent koenkk fw works like a charm.
Have had two conbee II sticks earlier, both were far easier to use with zha compared to deconz. With deconz pairing was VERY hit and miss. I often had to retry 5-6 times, but when I switched to zha those same devices connected first try.
fyi, not related to my current issue. Different place, new hardware.
What's the best way to determine which firmware version is the most appropriate for me to run on the Sonoff v3?
ordered the sonoff stick now, it is even cheaper then the conbee and sent the conbee back
thank you
This is the one I got. The Plus. https://itead.cc/product/sonoff-zigbee-3-0-usb-dongle-plus/
It is cheaper but looks more expensive with metal case ;)
Should arrive tomorrow, then pair all of it again... And I can't get one Ikea lightbulb going into pairing mode (but then again i dropped it earlier into a bucket of water...)
Not a good pairing strategy ;)
The metal case may help with interference issues and noise leaking out
Maybe. most likely just for marketing. But it does look nice, and the unscrewable antenna is one more possibility for experimentation.
What's the temperature like? Have you tried replacing the battery in the device with a "good-brand" one? Could it have come with a weak battery in the box?
Is the device stuck on or next to anything that might block the signal, like metal or a lump of water like a fish tank?
So I shall not put it to the fishies?
Only the water leak sensors ;)
Just saying that something like a fish tank between the transmitter and receiver could be a significant signal blocker
as could the thing being on a shelf between pieces of gear with metal cases
No, haven't tried that. 0-15°C and it was reporting 95% battery life last time I checked. There are two large flat metal surfaces behind each of the transmitter and and receiver, but nothing in between. I though that would maybe just reflect the signal and make it more focused, but I might have been wrong 😛
Maybe someone can tell me if this is a problem with Zigbee but I have been told that some other sensors really don't work well if they are stuck to PVC windows or doors and there is a piece of metal or metal frame inside that part of the PVC
I have some stuck to a metal garage door... they work fine
I'be got one on a metal fire door, and it sucks
With my amateur radio hat on, that could well significantly detune the antenna of the device and make it less efficient. If the piece of metal is earthed (grounded) then it could quite possibly suck very badly
Well, if it isn't grounded I would be very surprised. It's two metal walls.
If it isn't grounded, I would be calling the electrical safety people. LOL
The fact that it works fine for months without issue. And the only problem is long reconnect times made me think it might have been my configuration somehow. But maybe the rejoining process is somehow affected more than regular operation.
Yup ^^
Oh well, maybe I'll just buy a zigbee stick from the recommended list. Just found out I might just have overpaid a bit by buying the conbee sticks in my country....
This brings up a question I have. I've seen some devices say that to be paired, they have to be held together. Is this some security mechanism that requires a silly RSSI to make sure the right things get linked or is it to do with some technical aspect of pairing?
Well, the manual does say to keep the device within 4,5 meters during pairing. So at less than 2 meters it should be fine?
I bought this one from this supplier in the US (I'm in the UK). It arrived when they said and I didn't get hammered from customs charges. It's definitely genuine as they are the official supplier and good quality. https://itead.cc/product/sonoff-zigbee-3-0-usb-dongle-plus/
That doesn't sound like a problem. I was more thinking about some devices that say they have to be within 10cm
But the manual is for pairing it with smartthings and I don't think it's certified. They're not listing it as 3.0 certified at least, so that might be the issue.
ah, yeah. that's 37 usd cheaper than what I paid for my conbee II. With shipping and taxes... (facepalm)
Which particular "it" are you meaning please?
ah, sorry. Thought I pasted the link. This one: https://aeotec.com/smartthings/zigbee-button.html
I can't comment on that particular device (I'm still newb and I don't have one) but if you want to throw one of these on the order as a reference device to judge others by, they definitely work. https://itead.cc/product/sonoff-snzb-01-zigbee-wireless-switch/
Thanks for the suggestion but I actually bought it because of the integrated temperature sensor. I've now ordered the sonoff dongle you posted earlier and two 2652 based sticks, so once they arrive (hopefully not after months of waiting at the border) I'll test with all the different sticks and see if there's a noticeable difference in performance.
I've tried polling the value using zha-toolkit as recommended. Very useful to know about this tool, by the way. But... I still get the same result
2022-02-08 12:02:18 DEBUG (MainThread) [custom_components.zha_toolkit] event_data {'ieee_org': 'redacted', 'ieee': 'redacted', 'command': 'attr_read', 'start_time': '2022-02-08T11:02:16.495142+00:00', 'errors': [], 'params': {'cmd_id': None, 'endpoint_id': 2, 'cluster_id': 1794, 'attr_id': 768, 'attr_type': None, 'attr_val': None, 'code': None, 'min_interval': None, 'max_interval': None, 'reportable_change': None, 'dir': 0, 'manf': None, 'tries': 1, 'expect_reply': True, 'args': [], 'state_id': None, 'state_attr': None, 'allow_create': False, 'event_success': None, 'event_fail': None, 'event_done': None, 'read_before_write': True, 'read_after_write': True, 'write_if_equal': False, 'csvfile': None, 'csvlabel': None}, 'write_is_equal': False, 'result_read': ({768: <enum8.undefined_0x00: 0>}, {}), 'success': True}
Could it be that I'm calling the wrong cluster and attribute? Does anyone else have the same interpretation of those from the manual in my original message?
I expect it to have a default value of decimal 1000
any recommendations for aa good zigbee non neutral smart switch ?
Looking for advice about a device to buy? Remember to provide guidance on:
- Which country you're in
- What your budget is
- What protocols you prefer (eg Zigbee, WiFi, Z-Wave)
- Any features you want (such as power monitoring, dimming, etc)
I don't know and this is just a guess but are you definitely using the same base for all things and (for example) not 1794 decimal when maybe it should have been 1794 hex?
The UI only seems to allow decimal inputs. I’m going to try putting the hex strings in via yaml.
It’s the same error I get just using the ZHA manage clusters UI and „getting“ that attribute though
Did you try converting the different numbers from hex to decimal (like 0x1794 = 6036) and putting those in?
any recommendations for aa good zigbee/wifi non neutral smart switch ? in UK
I have sent the hexidecimal values via yaml and get the same error. In the log they are automatically converted to decimal
2022-02-08 13:08:22 DEBUG (MainThread) [custom_components.zha_toolkit] event_data {'ieee_org': 'redacted', 'ieee': 'redacted', 'command': 'attr_read', 'start_time': '2022-02-08T12:08:19.606566+00:00', 'errors': [], 'params': {'cmd_id': None, 'endpoint_id': 2, 'cluster_id': 1794, 'attr_id': 768, 'attr_type': None, 'attr_val': None, 'code': None, 'min_interval': None, 'max_interval': None, 'reportable_change': None, 'dir': 0, 'manf': None, 'tries': 1, 'expect_reply': True, 'args': [], 'state_id': None, 'state_attr': None, 'allow_create': False, 'event_success': None, 'event_fail': None, 'event_done': None, 'read_before_write': True, 'read_after_write': True, 'write_if_equal': False, 'csvfile': None, 'csvlabel': None}, 'write_is_equal': False, 'result_read': ({768: <enum8.undefined_0x00: 0>}, {}), 'success': True}
Yeah. They match the numbers here in the log.
It should also be mentioned that I am not 100% confident the values are correct, even if the ZHA Manage Clusters UI has the same issue.
They're my interpretation of the above-linked manual.
I got it. Apparently there is a manufacturer override code, also mentioned in the manual, ('manf': 4117) which must be specified. Once that is set the value is returned as expected.

does anyone had any problems with zha-groups? i have two groups and when i trigger on one group two lights from another group gets triggered they are not in the group
not the other way around
I got a sensor like 40 cm away from the zigbee dongle and its only at 150 and others more away are already at 80. Is the connection that bad?
Different devices and chipsets report LQI differently
so i dont have to be afraid of the redline and 80?
Does it work reliably?
just connected them
then definitely don't worry
Lqi is kinda like Schrödinger's signal, unless you observe it is probably in a constant state of flux
It's not working
oh now it is
Not that I've ever actually looked at my lqi very much, stuff just works if you have a proper mesh in my experience
Never had a device drop out or have battery drain issues
Hey guys, just installed a new Aqara smart plug EU, on/off is working fine but the energy metering showing "Unknown" aswell as the device temperature. any clues on what could cause that? https://gyazo.com/30fe58d7c7f3c6f41280fae470c7f434
or should I just give it a bit of time?
Can you access it with a web browser, like I can my Tasmota plugs? If so, are the quantities you want to see displayed there?
Its zigbee so propably not
the plug itself?
No it's a zigbee plug
True. Ignore me. I'm having a bad day
Zha or zigbee2mqtt
ZHA
Z2M
yea it seems that way but z2m seems quite intimidating for a newbie like me and I kind of like the simplicity of ZHA
It's not that I actually need the power reading any time soon but I was just wondering why it was showing unknown
Guess I'll just have to deal with it lol
z2m is awesome - only qualm i have is that in zha i would get battery percentage for my sensors and in z2m this information is not present
hmm
if I consider to switch in the future
can I just repair the devices and give them the same entity ID so my automations still work?
My sensors show all battery in z2m
because for now I'd like to stick with ZHA but if I start running into more trouble I'll probably switch to z2m
some of my batteries show percentage others only normal and will not trigger until they are low - same sensors in zha all had percentage
and i have a node-red flow which used to trigger on %x for low battery and lost that
even if i go into dev console and try to retrieve battery % it fails with error
Maybe time for an issue?
new to z2m so not sure how to raise one
thanks
I just noticed that Z2M recognises my Eco-dim.10 as an Eco-dim.07. The Eco-dim.10 is not listed in the list of supported devices, but the 07 is. Both the 07 and the 10 are dimmers. Could this be a problem, or does every ZigBee dimmer "speak the same language" anyway?
Seems to me that Z2M simply sends a sort of "turn light on" message to any odd dimmer anyway
The "how to support new devices" page only shows how to tell Z2M what functions are exposed, it doesn't show any special implementations for specific devices
So I guess the communication itself is pretty generic?
Z2M it's strange. In one day recognise both osram switch mini in another one stay UNSUPPORTED.
Osram is horrible in general though
They dont even work with a hue bridge properly
Hue is not for Philips products in general?
Yes but the osram things are supported at least the power plugs
And they are very unreliable
Do you have an experience using the attr_write? I'm having some trouble figuring out what the attr_type should be...
Osram yes, but not zigbee 😋
I tried, but didn't get far, and ended up writing a quirk that added the manufacturer attribute to the basic cluster, then could just write the values in the in the cluster config screen
it's the linkind leak sensor quirk if you are interested in looking at it. there may be other quirk work being done on your device might be worth looking through issues/pr's too
Ah. I have tried to set it there but it silently just doesn't take. I'll see about going that route if I can't figure out attr_write
Thanks 🙂
I don't think anyone has made one for this device yet.
here is the linkind one I made, pretty simple to hack something to get a manufacturer spec cluster into the clusters with the type defined from the spec/docs and then be able to write the values to it.. I'm not a coder and was able to do it with a tiny bit of help. https://github.com/zigpy/zha-device-handlers/tree/dev/zhaquirks/linkind
it's just this:
class LinkindBasicCluster(CustomCluster, Basic):
"""Linkind Basic cluster."""
manufacturer_attributes = {0x0400A: ("linkind", t.uint8_t)}
then add that as a replacement cluster in the device quirk: https://github.com/zigpy/zha-device-handlers/blob/23a166902e50d5c32019e0d4d32a968715041bb6/zhaquirks/linkind/a001082.py#L51
Awesome, thank you! 😄
To answer my own question from earlier, seems like the Eco-Dim modules just talk using bog-standard ZigBee Cluster Library, so the wrong model being detected shouldn't make a difference
It's all got the same cluster IDs, cluster commands, etc
As best I can tell, ZigBee domotics communication is pretty much standardised and well documented
Speaking of Linkind, it's a shame they don't make more ZigBee products, the lamps that I have from them are pretty decent
Linkind is my favourite ZigBee brand so far
What do you like about them?
I've tried a couple of different brands, not super many though, but there's often something I don't like
i'm also a fan of linkind. the contact and water leak sensors are good
Some lamps have a bad cold colour temperature that's kind of pinkish
oh the buttons are decent too
Or they're not that bright
Or not that responsive
But Linkind performs well in pretty much every respect
They are pretty responsive, have good colour accuracy, all that stuff
And the 2 lamp pack is 20 euros which is fairly cheap for a ZigBee set
They just perform really well and the price is pretty good
Maybe i try them if i have need for bulbs
Only hue up to now
Linkind has WiFi lamps and ZigBee lamps, I think, I have ZigBee
when going from a 2531 to a 2652 dongle....fresh install ?
with what zigbee software?
z2m
with 1.21 (i think) or newer, you can just swap the stick
There is a documentation for that if i am not mistaking
2652 is definitely a good bit better, I quite often had my ZigBee network freeze up with the 2531
i think i need to repair but do i need a fresh install og HA IS THE BIG q

You've just had multiple people tell you that there's no need to re-pair
«Switching from a CC2530 or CC2531 based adapter to a CC2538/CC2652/CC1352 based adapter does not require repairing (e.g. CC2531 -> CC2652)» try reading
Yet... you still think you do...
Did you even try reading any of the links before making wild ass guesses?
ohh...soz
If you're not going to bother paying attention to people's responses, why even post? 😛
And a new install of ha is clearly not needed 😂
great....sorry for being a bit off.....
my woman spoke to me at the same time.....you know where one must have the full attention then 😄
You can pay attention?

i had to chose
Yeah or it was the longest time with home assistant at your home
i think HA is more important but what i think is not important in those cases
you guys made my day.....i dragged the swap cuz of the possible re-pair .....false alarm as it seems
i changed the channel of my zigbee controller.. and now i need to repair my hue light and the remote that came with it
how do i do that? i'm not able to control the lights with the remote control.. and i can't reach it over bluetooth
use the remote to touchlink reset the bulbs to put them in pairing mode. google the how on that but if its a hue remote should work
it says bring the light close to the controller, but that's not possible
the light is fixed in the ceiling
how can i "use the remote to touchlink reset the bulbs"?
it's actually not a bulb, but rather a fixed light
ah! thanks
My new Aqara smartplug (connected through ZHA) just went offline, how can I get it back online? It's still plugged into the wallsocket but just hasn't been used for a couple of hours. Also, to prevent this, should I set these numbers higher? (https://gyazo.com/d84106912390d557824b3a1a6f2322a6) The device is acting as a router, does it stop doing that if the device is considered "offline" by ZHA?
Well if it is offline it does nothing
But the weird thing is
if I trigger an automation that includes this switch, it works
and then it gets back "online", so the device isn't actually offline
because it can still respond to automations
That sounds weird, but I don't use zha
I just turned up the "consider devices offline after .. seconds" to 32 hours
hopefully that keeps them online 🙂

Kek
had a power outage here and after that one zigbee bulb is acting up, removed it from z2m , after that reset the device / pairing mode.
after that z2m only says :
Warning Device '0x60a423fffe0d9ac8' left the network
Info MQTT publish: topic 'zigbee2mqtt/bridge/event', payload '{"data":{"friendly_name":"0x60a423fffe0d9ac8","ieee_address":"0x60a423fffe0d9ac8"},"type":"device_leave"}'
no interviews showing up ?
Did you try restarting z2m?
yeah just did , enabled allow join
the lights, in pairing mode , and i removed it earlier , so why is it leaving the network after every reset/pairing attempt ?
hmm just checked its config.yaml , device is also gone in its config
hmm device leave , ok logical after reset/re-pair, but no interview coming up ...
I purchased this zigbee thermostat: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01KVDFRGC
It's showing that it's in pairing mode, but neither Z2M or ZHA picks it up
What's the best way to relocate a zigbee device? I have a plug I use as a repeater and need to move it. Can I just do so and hit "Reconfigure device" in the Zigbee integration?
or do I need to full remove and readd?
What are the cheapest zigbee white lights (standard 60W replacements) right now that are compatible with HA?
Right now I can get 6 Sengled bulbs for $60CAD
But they are wifi bulbs
If you only need warm bulbs, the hue ones are nice
I recently got a bunch of the hue rgb bulbs for $30 each because they dim well and work great as standard whites
Yea they're for spare room, entry way, utility room, etc so colour temp doesn't matter
Hue is a bit expensive for those types of situations
Two for $25 isn't bad in my opinion
Whoa where
I would pay $12.50/bulb easy
I see 2 for $50 on Amazon Canada right now
Yep, search around and see if you can find them cheaper
