thanks man
dont ya wish that button was on the outside, my hands are sweating profusely ; watch me break it
lol
If you flash it with router firmware, it'll become a router. You could join it to any Zigbee network, it doesn't care if it's on a network managed by Z2M.
Can I have that and flash as a coordinator? I only have that stick and battery sensors. Would I be able to have only a router and no coordinator? Or with my setup need to have something plugged into the computer running z2m?
Without something plugged into a computer, you have no way to talk to the mesh
Sensors can connect directly to the coordinator
It's just that when you add routers (e.g. lightbulbs, switchable outlets, most things that are always plugged in), they let you move sensors farther away
You don't necessarily need a second USB stick flashed with router firmware
Ok, thanks. For now I got it working plugged in to the computer without changing firmware. From what I picked up looking around I would need a windows computer to flash new firmware. Is that correct or is there a way using linux?
What stick are you using?
sonoff 3.0 usb plus.
That's the first time I'm seeing the .exe flasher, I think it's just a repackage of https://github.com/JelmerT/cc2538-bsl
Which is cross-platform
pip install git+https://github.com/JelmerT/cc2538-bsl intelhex and cc2538-bsl.py -evw -p /dev/serial/by-id/... firmware.hex
ok thanks. I had to download a .docx word file and open it with an online text editor to read the installation instructions.
BTW where can I find uartLog.py? It will sasve me unscrewing 4 screws to get to the button to reach the bootloader. Everywhere I look it talks about it being linked but I don't see any links (I'm just missing something)...
uartLog.py?
.zip sorry
I'm not sure I follow, where is this .zip file coming from?
Oh, it's some random script for the Sonoff stick
thats where I'm lost. https://www.zigbee2mqtt.io/advanced/zigbee/01_zigbee_network.html#coordinator is a list of devices. I selected the sonoff zigbee plus and downloaded the instructions.
I think its maybe in the docx file I cant open. I am just trying to get into flash mode without finding my small screwdriver set to open it to push the button. For some reason there is no hole to push something through for the button.
As in, download https://raw.githubusercontent.com/guozi7788/cc2538-bsl/master/cc2538-bsl.py and run that last command but add sonoff at the end. It doesn't look like it has any Windows-specific code.
Or try the pending PR: pip install git+https://github.com/JelmerT/cc2538-bsl.git@feature/ITead_Sonoff_Zigbee-delay and run it with the --bootloader-sonoff-usb flag: https://github.com/JelmerT/cc2538-bsl/pull/114
Thanks, It worked. I had a few bumps (missing intelhex etc..) but its all working now.
Awesome. If you can, leave a comment in the GitHub issue letting the maintainer know it works.
Working on it now.
Next job (another day) is to move it to my pi4 hopefully will work without issues.
once an individual does a firmware update on a coordinator and plugs it back in. Is it normal behavior to see 2 coordinators in ZHA ; 1 is unkown manuf , unknw ; with all their previous devices attached to it and then a 2nd coordinator with 0 devices attached to it .
Thanks for pointing me to this. I am new to zigbee and was not sure what/where to look. You were very helpful here. 🥳
Any clue why a shutdown of the raspi host (and thus core) would turn off a few but not all power plugs?
Same with system crash which unfortunately happens sometimes I find a few but again not all plugs powered off.
@austere patioyou are a great man
How do I completely remove Z2M ? Want a fresh start and something is hanging... after new install and config it starts and no errors on the addon, opening web UI and then see loading, please wait and have been like that for 30 minutes now.
Removing the add-on should be all you need to do
any other place I can look for errors except for the log tab on the addon? It just wont start. (New zzh adapter Earlier install had conbee II) Uninstalled, installed and modified config.
Hey guys, anyone that has Aqara roller shade e1 working with ZHA and a Conbee1 stick?
Also, is it possible to get the temperature vaules back in ZHA from aqara door and motion sensors?
Unless there is a new version - don't think Aqara door & motion sensor report temps.
so this https://zigbee.blakadder.com/Aqara_MCCGQ14LM.html is a new version and does not have the same? I checked your site 🙂
new version is barely working right now
ah okay. actually I think Aqara should think of adding a proximity sensor rather than temps
that's a thought best directed towards aqara support, i doubt they're watching this discord
yep, that's just a thought, I would rather build my own than going all the way to aqara 🙂
i'd be extremely impressed if you managed to replicate the aqara sensor with proximity sensor added
I only get open/close and battery status from my door sensors
i did get temp with deconz tho
With Xiaomi sensors @sweet cypress ?
yes
I have had temperature with mine in zigbee2mqtt for years at least
yeah, i guess a option would be to migrate to zigbee2mqtt from zha
thing is i have the conbee1 stick, and not sure its very good for z2m. i have ordered a TI CC2652R tho
and hoping i can get the aqara shade roller working with that
Hello everyone, I have some problems with 2 HUE dimmers, which I have integrated via ZHA into the HA. After that I configured the RWL022 via this blueprint `https://community.home-assistant.io/t/zha-philips-hue-v2-smart-dimmer-switch-and-remote-rwl022/353143' For the second I then copied the configured automation and adjusted the corresponding data. Both also switch sometimes, but very often not? How did you integrate the HUE dimmers?
i have 2 raspberry pi´s with seperate HA Instances and a Sonoff Tasmota flashed Wifi Bridge (Hub). Is is possible to use on one HA Raspi zha and on the other Z2M with the same bridge as coordinator?
I'd say no, you would be better off using z2m from somewhere and share a mqtt server between them
ok, same mqtt server is possible but not the same bridge?
I don't know that bridge, but it makes more sense to have one state machine than two
ok. idea was to only use this for my dev system and testing purposes.
Then, why use two different integrations?
zha is on my main system. i want to give z2m a second try. but if i do it on my main system the WAF (women acceptance factor) will go red. 🙂
Why will it go red?
I've been running Z2M for over 2 years, with zero downtime
That I didn't cause myself
my gilfriend will go in alarm mode (red) if something goes wrong. had this topic last week as tried z2m on live system and it didn´t work as expected.
Migrating 60+ devices to z2m for my last migration took around 45 minutes, hasn't been down since
Hello every one, so I migrated 17 hue lights and 3 dimmer switches from my hue hub to ZHA using a Conbee II yesterday and I’m getting quite a lot of lag and commands not working, for example when activating a scene that would make the living room lights go to 15% brightness and warm white 1 or 2 bulbs dim but don’t change color. I’ve tried HA light groups and ZHA groups but both yield the same results..
Setup wise the conbee is 50ish cm from the PC, set to the least populated channel and I paired each bulb in its final location.
Any ideas as to what could be causing this behaviour ? I had no problems when using the hue hub but would like a 100% local setup if possible…
When looking at the visualisation I see a lot of red lines idk if that had anything to do with it.. house isn’t very big.. any input is appreciated !
i have approx same amount of devices as you. took me same time but i had to make it twice and had a lot of lags und lost devices and "Bad Gateway" error with Z2M. So i deciced to go back to ZHA. But as i mentioned i wanted to give Z2M a 2nd try to check if i had some misconfigurations caused by myself and not the system.
Bad gateway sounds like #add-ons-archived never used those
These days I have 120+ devices though
i guess it was not a problem with the amount of devices. maybe a misconfiguration with mqtt/z2m.
Is it easy to move Z2Mqtt from one device to another device
Yep
How do you do it
Copy the config dir over
Oh really easy 😂
Wait that works?
Well yes
Anything works
If you know what you are doing
You could host the filesystem in Canberra and Tokyo and run the server in Mumbai
If you so were inclined
Definitely use the zigbee zha groups (not HA groups). Lots of red lines implies bad signal quality which is what probably lets you down here. Make sure you have zigbee routers (any device that is powered by mains) in each room. Also a good idea to put your coordinator stick on a usb extension lead to improve its signal
Thanks for your response !
I only have bulbs, two outdoor lights (mains powered) and 3 switches (battery), they all show up as routers on the map, guess they’re bad routers ? Weird that I didn’t have issues with the hue hub though..
I have it on an extension cord it’s about 50cm from the pc, I could extend it a bit further I guess, idk if would make a difference
Definitely not bad routers, these hue light bulbs are quality. Are your walls concrete lol?
Hi! Help pls:)
Trying to implement custom_zha_quirks .
In one code update i change manufacturer_attribute type from
int32s to uint32_t
I'v got an error "-3 is not an unsigned 32 bit integer" - that is ok.
I change back variable type, restart HA and... got error again.
I try to remove pycache, zha and zygbee db, restarting HA docker, remove zygbee device and pair it again.. nothing, i still got that error.
If you have just set it up, it might take a little bit of time until the mesh network optimises itself. You could also try DeConz instead kf ZHA, as thats specifically for the conbee coorinators
…although i use conbee 2 with ZHA and it works fine
I know this question is very subjective, but does if feel for other that Zigbee is not as stable as Z-Wave?
I have both a Zigbee and a Z-Wave network and it looks to me that zigbee devices are not good at going through walls and reconnecting to a node when they are in range.
I have a hub and 2 mains connected sonoff devices so it would create a decent mesh but it's still fairly unstable.
more people have this problem when you try to open the phoscon web app after the deconz update ? (
Please wait until the search for gateways has finished.)
I have had no issues with ZigBee devices @trim bay
And I dropped zwave early on
2 mains connected routers... Aren't much
Yes I set it up yesterday afternoon, the walls are building blocks, think those are concrete.. however the lights that are acting up are in the same room as the HA pc 🤨
I do get a bunch of
No response to 'Command.aps_data_indication' command with seq id '0x90'
Warnings in my logs with difference ids at the end
From the zigby_deconz.api
what?
The warnings I’m getting ?
yes
Ok thanks !
Is there anything I can do to get more green lines on the map ?
ditch conbee, deCONZ if you use it, forget they ever existed
100% hater here 🙂
Can remotes like the hue dimmers control devices/groups directly? I know that the Ikea remotes are sometimes paired to bulbs by default. Therefore I was wondering if something similar can be achieved with ZHA
Sure, by using HA automations
You can do whatever you want
Let your hue dimmer turn on your car
no, I mean basically skipping the bridge/router for simple tasks like toggling a light (mainly for rooms that are far away from the bridge where my dimmers don't always react when pressed)
Yes, you can bind the remotes directly to lights or groups
Not all devices support binding though
There is no reason to bind imho though
HA automations are instantaneous
And if your HA instance is down for some reason, that is a you problem
The 30 seconds it takes to upgrade HA or whatever ZigBee integration you are using shouldn't be hard to avoid major usage
is there a tutorial of some kind you could link me to?
yes, but for that the signal from the remote has to get to HA first. Probably because of the way my house is constructed the signal of the remote doesn't get to where it needs to be frequently. I'm trying to fix that without tearing my house down.
I bet google will help you. I'm using z2m so i don't know how it's done in zha
I'll give that a search
If it doesn't your mesh isn't good enough is basically the answer
*not good enough for your preferred solution 😅
If anything stops working you are doing it wrong
anyone knows a zigbee relay with isolated contacts, that can be used to control separate low voltage circuit? Like this one https://www.reddit.com/r/Aqara/comments/lz5gbs/aqara_relay_not_good_quality/
This one, however, failed in a couple of weeks.
Wow really ? Thought it was a good product 😅
after a zigbee firmware update ; my existing devices are all unavailable ?
how can I rebind ?
Are you using ZHA?
yes
If you didn't do a network backup before upgrading the firmware, all of the settings were erased. Unless you had ZHA debug logging enabled in the past, there's no way to recover them.
they were working last night puddly remember you helped me get the firmware update working
i woke up this morning and its like just the aqara e1 sensor is up and running
all the other devices are pointing to unkn manuf ;
The entities may still be around but unless you did a network backup/restore, your network settings were erased with the flasher's -e flag
And ZHA picked random ones when the network started up again
so for future reference ; I should do a network backup ; firmware update ; then restore correct ? will google where to find that
It'll be built into ZHA in the near future, hopefully before you next have to upgrade the firmware
so side question ; in Manage Clusters ; Device Binding ; it seemed like this is where my solution was in my mind ; what is this area specifically mean if it isn't what i think it was
I wanted to select Binding to the 2nd "Cordinator" rather than the unknown one which seems like stale data
Binding lets you tell two Zigbee devices to do things directly (e.g. hook a button up to a light bulb), so they'll still work even if the coordinator is offline or your automations aren't running
It's like a primitive automation
any preferred motion sensors that are relaible? I've got an Aqara one I'm playing with right now and it seems to not change states reliably.
can go zigbee or zwave.
Had no issues with Aqara
just want something with a long battery life, and that works. just put this thing in the pantry to sense someone entering the pantry and it's not changing states reliably.
watching it on zigbee2mqtt
That sounds like a signal issue
I moved the tubezhub closer.
All of mine, also on Z2M, work 100% of the time
yeah, have an older samsung/smart things one a few feet away to sense motion in the kitchen and that thing works great, but you can't get those anymore.
I just relocated the tubez coordinator to a more central location, hopefully it's a signal issue.
I think that may have done the trick.
Hey,i need help, im stuck on setting up my CC2531 it is stuck on Loading, please wait
What integration are you using?
i think it should work on this one too :d
I have a Conbee II that just connects/disconnects in windows and GCFFlasher cant find any FTDI devices. Anyone that has had something similar?
Try plugging it into a USB extension cable when flashing
Tried that, no difference
It's the same in my Unraid machine (Where i have it passed through to a VM running HA)
I thought the problem was with an update in HA because zigbee just started acting strange, being slow to respond and only lights worked, no buttons/sensors. So did a lot of work to get zigbee2mqtt working and could add the device but then stopped working. Then i saw the zigbee2mqtt log stating that it lost the Conbee, and in Unraids log file it sure enough said "connected..." "disconnected...." over and over
Problems with the Conbee after a HA update are normal, it doesn't like being restarted
I have some issues pairing this device with my zigbee2mqtt zzh usb stick on HA-addon.
I am following the instructions, but it never starts fading - unless I remove paperclip. Then it starts flashing, but no sync to z2m.
https://www.zigbee2mqtt.io/devices/E1603_E1702_E1708.html
Anyone know of another procedure?
Im reading the manual, and it says 5 seconds to facotry reset.
Z2m in pair allow, 5 seconds paperclip, then release
does it have a really bad antenna on the ikea device? how close do I have to be?
Paired immediately
You should pair it where it is supposed to be installed, like any ZigBee device
If your mesh doesn't reach it, you need intermediate devices
It should join the closest router
Child devices of the coordinator shouldn't be many
just to be sure, you do the 5 seconds paperclip while its powered up?
or while plugging in?
While powered up
nope, doesnt work here. https://imgur.com/a/rETGhsZ
yes
Info Zigbee: allowing new devices to join.
Info MQTT publish: topic 'zigbee2mqtt/bridge/response/permit_join', payload '{"data":{"time":254,"value":true},"status":"ok","transaction":"qf38c-3"}'
i did restart z2m
how close are you to the device you are pairing with?
I have 12 routers probably within 2 meters
To the one I paired yesterday
5 metres to the coordinator, and probably 12+ end devices within 3 meters
ok weird.
The only issues I had with trådfri was pairing, but that time it wasnt in line of sighr
this time its clear sight
Line of sight of what?
zzh and the other ikea device
Shouldn't have to be
Had the same issue yesterday/today.
Had to unplug Conbee II from my RPI4, connect it to my windows machine, find the com port and start GCFFlasher to reset
Updated deconz on homeassistant to 6.11.1, reboot homeassistant RPI host, cleanup browser cache, bring stick back to RPI 4
Ooof conbee
I solved it… and everything works great now with ZHA again. Tldr: I think I might have plugged it into a USB 3.0 port some time on my Unraid server. And the connect disconnect problems I’ve had with windows might be the same issue, I have like 10 USB3 ports and 2 USB2.0 on my computer
Although using Linux (popOS) I was able to flash the firmware no problem. But I think the real problem was the USB port…
I see, I've dedicated USB 2.0 extension cables which don't support USB 3.0 to avoid these kind of issues 😉
Well I don’t think my extension is 3.0? At least I know it doesn’t support 3.0 transfer speed
But yes, quite embarrassing and stupid issue… after days of having a down zigbee network and a few frustrating times trying to debug the problem… thinking HA update is the problem, then ZHA, then update the firmware on the conbee, then install zigbee2mqtt just to see the problem is in unraid… so google and people install older firmware… so install Linux cuz windows sucks… flash firmware and then realize the problem is the usb port
I've specially for the USB3.0 2.4Ghz interference issues an USB2.0 hub for my Zigbee dongle
im having issues with 2 at the moment.. suddenly refusing to connect
they are about 4m from the coordinator, and 3m or so from a signal repeater
2 devices that i basically said "these will be reliable, because they are zigbee and from ikea"
now the wife thinks im an idiot.. well, its another reason the wife thinks im an idiot.
Which devices?
they (were) work(ing) great
yeah, the 2 bulbs in the kitchen work well
and the dimmer for them
and the signal repeaters seem to be solid
i could swear i had better 'LQI' before the recent HA updates though
What even is lqi? Is it the estimate of signal strength?
Varies from chipset to chipset, but it's something between an indicator of the signal quality (strength and lack of interference) and a wild ass guess
hi all, sorry if this is asked a lot, but do you prefer ZHA or deconz? I've previously used deconz but have had to reset. I've setup in ZHA now as thought it would be better direct and slightly worried I'll need to setup in deconz again. One thing I've lost is the ability to use hue essentials for example
Wrong question
The right question is Zigbee2MQTT or ZHA - where it's personal preference
What is Hue Essentials though?
so prefer dropping deconz? 🙂
it's a hue-esque app that is compatible with deconz gateways, so has light specific functions like a 'party mode' where lights change to music etc, mostly gimmick stuff, but I give people this app instead of setting them up a full home-assistant user
thank you for the response, I'll persist getting used to ZHA if it's the supported way going forward, I think it's just because I'm a bit unfamiliar 😄
aha! that's the missing piece, tyvm, hue essentials supports 'diyHue' gateway too
Hi all, what can I do if MQTT is not discovered in my integrations? Using Z2M
Set it up?
How? Specifying the URL manually? mqtt://core-mosquito
If you mean in Z2M, then yes
No, using the MQTT integration. Z2M communicates with MQTT already
heeeeeeeeelp ! need to get my zigbee network back up... i've been trying to fix stuff and i disabled ZHA and then re-enabled... now all devices seem disabled and I can't seem to re-enable !
usb is dev/ttyACM0
devices show as "The device is disabled by Config entry."
aha !!!
i just had to "reconfigure device" then it allowed me to re-enable !
but I need to do that on all of them... about 20
seems I've got a bit of work to do...
quite
What coordinator do you have?
I’ve been troubleshooting my zha/conbee issues for a couple days now.
it's a conbee II anyway... haha
nice
i'm in the process of converting my wifi HA devices to zigbee !
mainly sonoff basics to the zigbee version
hey i though to ask , do you happen to find a power measuring module that is not wifi ?
seriously Microsoft should hire the marketing department of deconz
wtf is with everybody and conbee sticks
good google ads placement?
its probably that, it is available in many stores
hey - that's interesting to me, should I swap out my deconz II with someting else - if so what ?
Easy to get for sure was a draw for me
replace it with something really hard to get right now 😉
My CC died last year and I could next day a conbee
Any thoughts on the new sonoff usb rig? That looks neat
@copper solarat this point you can't go wrong, maybe if you get a CC2531
but even that is better in some cases
so far the 3.0 sonoff stick is fine
i'll have a look thanks
@copper solarwhat integration you use?
3.0 sonoff is better than conbee II - why's that ?
What was the tube thing mentioned in integrations?
using ZHA integration
its new and has a better chip with better support
any Silicon Labs EmberZNet based
i'd personally go for https://elelabs.com/products/elelabs-usb-adapter.html
but maybe search for something on both lists ZHA and Zigbee2MQTT
you guys talking of this thing.. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Gateway-Wirelessly-Connect-Devices-Compatible/dp/B08BCL961G
as a replacement for the conbee
not a "stick" as such
From what I can see that’s not on the z2m list, maybe under experimental, but it sure looks solid
that is the best i ever had for ZHA
updated firmware just works flawless
id doesn't work on z2m
Definitely in my case it was easier to get the stick than anything else. Anything else is an international import for me
Whatever is going on all of a sudden with my setup on zha and conbee is making me want to flip to z2m just to see if I can sort it
@bronze pewter trust me is not ZHA, is the Conbee
@bronze pewter have you updated the firmware on the conbee?
That’s what I’m starting to think.
I did last night. Issues started right around my 12. Upgrade
Rolled back to 11.5, no change.
The conbee firmware or the 12 update or both did you do?
My ikea powered devices all dropped essentially
Moved to 12 on dec 14, ikea stuff was flaking out, kids and life got in the way, downgraded to 11.5 yesterday, no change.
Then ran the firmware update on the stick last night
Hmm if you can try Z2Mqtt as I think that works better with conbee than ZHA
And today my plan was to burn it all down and start over with either zha or z2m again
But if you can look at buying something better in the meantime
Yeah likely will order that sonoff stick if I can squeeze it past the Christmas budget. 😂
Wife finally got used to all the motion lights in the basement so I have her on side at least now.
just to be clear - consensus view is that this is a good bet/ best in class right now ? https://itead.cc/product/sonoff-zigbee-3-0-usb-dongle-plus/
zha maybe this https://elelabs.com/products/elelabs_usb_adapter.html
tks
in the meantime i've updated my conbee firmware
13:31:09:472 GW firmware version is up to date: 0x26680700
previiusly was on 13:12:15:496 Device firmware version 0x264A0700 ConBee II
interestingly.. my stick is showing offline in map
i deleted the ZHA integration, rebooted the Pi, let it add again, and it had a record of all the previous devices, so that was clearly not how to burn it down. but also, interesting it detected the stick but shows offline
how did you update it and/or check it in ZHA>?
ocker run -it --rm --entrypoint "/firmware-update.sh" --privileged --cap-add=ALL -v /dev/serial/by-id/usb-dresden_elektronik_ingenieurtechnik_GmbH_ConBee_II_DE2149812-if00:/dev/ttyACM0 -v /lib/modules:/lib/modules -v /sys:/sys marthoc/deconz
docker not ocker!
strangely HA is reporting it as a RaspBee II
but it's a conbee
are you running HA/ZHA on a pi or in a vm?
Pretty sure ZHA and conbee are not great. Avoid if possible (Z2Mqtt or deconz)
HA is in a docker....
@cerulean abyss running ok, but I hear you, maybe will swap it out
is there a way to totally delete the whole zigbee setup from HA
i have ZHA, want to start from scratch
Hi 👋 - got a push switch not connecting to ZHA. It's a https://zigbee.blakadder.com/Tuya_TS0041.html pretty sure. Seems only to stay in pairing mode (flashy flashy) while switch is held down 😆 I've put a weight on it but no luck...tried close to a router and the coordinator. Put old battery from scales in it, might be too low will try a fresh one. Get some weird "ignoring unrecognised message" in the logs, but it seems to be coming from a cc2351 I have router based on the IEEE address, getting them from time to time. Any ideas?
@bronze pewter you can uninstall the integration and add it again I think? if that doesnt work, delete zigbee.db using the file editor add on before adding zha again...I did this earlier today should work.
beauty - will give that a shot
That did the trick to reset zha.
now that's just horse shit
@bronze pewter to reset ZHA as you wish you need to delete integration stop home assistant and delete zigbee db from ha config folder
then you are truly starting from 0
That...seems like an overreaction. But yeah, conbee + z2m is actually the troublesome combo. From what I've seen it's very hit or miss. Either way, something CC2652-based like the new sonoff zb 3.0 stick, ZZH, slaesh's stick, etc. is a good choice for both ZHA and z2m
Done and done. And interestingly I can’t pair anything that was troublesome before. I wonder if I should roll back to a mid 11.x build and retry.
my zigbee2mqtt add-on is stuck loading
Failed to call 'Bridge' 'start' (TypeError: Cannot read property 'manufacturerID' of undefined
getting this error
ive tried a deconz and cc2531 adapter, both had the same results
what am i doing wrong?
Did you flash the cc2531? Also, is that supposed to work with deconz at all?
random question - is it possible to attach a usb dongle to a system that's not your main HA system and map it across the network?
my HA server runs in a VM on a server in the basement - it's not exactly in the best location to get a signal to other parts of the house
Yes but it’s not recommended. The additional latency is not a good thing for zigbee networks
If the communication is lan based it may be manageable
I wouldn’t bother with WiFi
Yes @abstract dust that is how I run it
Via zigbee2mqtt
There is no noticeable latency, ZigBee actions happen before I finish opening a door
lan based right?
still better than wifi
I had it on WiFi earlier, no major issues there either
Only ran that for two weeks or so
environment specific... when that sonoff thing came out it caused nightmares
No extension cord on the zzh either
i did flash it, it was working last time i tried. The deconz adapter is mentioned as working in the documentation, and isnt on the list of the bad adapters.
Right - I'll have a look into that, thanks
You can also use ser2net or socat with ZHA (and Z2M)
I don't actually have any ZigBee hardware yet, but I suspect it's something in going to run into soon enough
Right - I'd totally forgotten about socat
ZHA supports TCP-serial servers with the socket:// the protocol, Z2M with tcp://
Excellent
Just got a Zigbee radio and am trying to set it up. dmesg gives me an output of over 2,000 lines... is there any way to narrow it down so I can find where my adapter is mounted?
Think I got it.
Having trouble getting zigbee2mqtt set up. I'm suspicious it's because I am not running my MQTT broker (mosquito) in a container.
Log: https://pastebin.com/E4mjVe7R
docker-compose.yml: https://pastebin.com/nkakttC2
configuration.yaml: https://pastebin.com/SeV7fXNW
Anyone have ideas how to address this?
Did you try using the IP of the host with the broker?
Rather than relying on it resolving mqtt
I was just about to try that. You mean in configuration.yaml, right?
Yes
Let me give that a try.
That gave me a much longer log file, haha. I'll pastebin it.
I actually can't even grab the whole log.
Oh, I'm noticing that's including the previous logs too, shoulda figured that.
zigbee2mqtt | Zigbee2MQTT:error 2021-12-21 13:46:52: Configuration is not consistent with adapter state/backup!
You may want to look into the tail command, or other options for only seeing the last few dozen lines
That could be helpful.
Thanks for that tip, that'll make log checking a lot easier.
Hmmm, looking into that error...
Must of what I'm seeing is related to the PAN ID not matching, but it does in my case. Hmm.
does the Z2M binding from the UI not work? Do i need to configure it through yaml? I cannot make either my Hue Wall Switch module or Hue Dimmer Switch bind to a light group
Failed to bind cluster 'genOnOff' from 'Hue wall switch module 1' to 'kontor_lampe' (Error: Bind 0x001788010b008355/1 genOnOff from '2' failed (waiting for response TIMEOUT))
Your network key and extended PAN ID are different
Trying to find where I'd specify that in configuration.yaml
They're in the advanced section, I believe. Why'd they change? Did you try a new stick with ZHA and then move it back to Z2M?
I have no idea why they'd be different
I've never had a zigbee stick before, just got a brand new one, plugged it in, and here we are
Yeah, I haven't. I'll look into how to do that.
Well, I flashed it, I think. I'm not entirely sure how to double check it's "alive," lol
it is supposed to blink when I plug it in - it's not

I want to update the firmware of my Eurotronics spirit Zigbee radiator valves. I found the instruction to do this with deCONZ here: https://github.com/EUROTRONIC-Technology/Spirit-ZigBee/wiki/OTA-update-guide-via-deCONZ. Can I also somehow do this via ZHA? If not, can I just take the Conbee stick from my NAS, put it into my laptop to update via deCONZ and put it back? Or would that require me to re-pair everything (which I want to avoid obviously)
@mossy fern use the otau directory method described in the docs and drop the firmware in there: https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/zha/#ota-firmware-updates
So it works the same as for the IKEA stuff, just that it does not auto download it?
Then how do I trigger it to pick up the file? I tried to send image_notify, but that does not seem to work
you have to restart HA after adding the FW so it knows it's there
and then it just will happen in the background when the device checks.
Is this a good place to ask questions about XBee?
Grrr... So I've been pairing a bunch of Zigbee devices to my new Zigbee stick. It works with a lot of the devices, but some (namely a Ikea E1743 switch and a Ikea https://www.zigbee2mqtt.io/devices/LED1836G9.html bulb) are resistant. Note that I managed to pair with identical devices, but not these particular two.
I factory reset e.g. the bulb according to instructions. The bulb "breathes" intensity, so it's trying to pair. I "permit join (all)" on Zigbee2mqtt, the bulb is <10 cm from the Zigbee stick. The stick shows green LED, indicating pairing. But after about 90s the bulb stops "breathing" and seems to give up pairing.
Any suggestions how to troubleshoot? Note, I've about 24h of HA/Z2M experience
I'm trying to forward a new stick to my docker container and there's this in the compose:
image: homeassistant/raspberrypi3-homeassistant```
How do I find which image I'm running if I'm user the container version?
This is what I get in the log when I permit join, then factory reset the bulb
Received MQTT message on 'zigbee2mqtt/bridge/request/permit_join' with data '{"device":null,"time":254,"transaction":"d1u3t-3","value":true}'

@austere patio got the issue with the CC2652RB-stick again, as the power was lost an my raspberry and so it had a hard shutdown
but now, I even didn't get it flashed again. Got an Error like ERROR: Timeout waiting for ACK/NACK after 'Synch (0x55 0x55)' or ERROR: bytearray index out of range
It seems like I got it to work were it not for
OTA image version: 19055488, size: 185294. Update needed: False Seems like it is already up to date with the image I found
Huh. I can see the non-pairing bulb via Touchlink. I can get it to identify itself, and it reacts to Factory Reset. But still no connection to the Zigbee net...
How do I check for the current firmware version? I retrieved the sw_build_id from the Basic cluster and it says 18181120 so I find it strabge that it says it does not need an update when the OTA image version is 19055488
I saw your comment. Hmmm. Those errors just indicate that the stick isn't responding to serial commands, though in the second one it did for a moment and then stopped
Can you try an older version? pip install zigpy-znp==0.5.4, the same commands should work.
What is the better choices of zigbee 3.0 usb sticks that is more accessible in the united states?
Hey there - wondering if someone can help me understand this a bit.
I'm trying to understand if my custom Zigbee router devices are working or not. They show a LQI in the Zigbee2Mqtt frontend, but they also show "Last Seen: 4 months ago". I moved to a new house about ~2 months ago and the LQI of most of my devices is pretty rough (which leads me to believe that these two extra routers are not working). Also when trying to load the map its showing a "failed to load LQI for ZB Router (thats the name I have for one of the two router devices)"
I must be doing something wrong, because I have now swapped this with a new device, and its behaving the same.
the only way I get the device to do anything is if I hold for 5s or more, and when I release, it makes a click sound and then starts blinking, as if it was reset. but nothing in z2m. allow join is on of course.

Hi
looks like all have similar issues here 🙂
i have mixed devices tuya, ikea, paulman, all detected but no way to interact between :/
Can you enable https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/zha/#debug-logging and see what's in the log file when you try adding it?
i was messing around clusters... but no succes....
yup i enabled that,
and i get tons of (for me) unusable data
@austere patio can't even install the integration. Do I still add the debug logging?
i added devices and they are hanging on ui but no functionality from button to dimmer
i can manually turn dimmer from web ui (home assistant) but remote zigbee buttons can't be "binded" to dimmer
see the pins. I'm partial to the ones I make and I'm US based.
@molten lindendon't see anything in the pins, got a site?
Yeah, it'll be in home-assistant.log
ohh yea I did look at these. you were out of stock
@molten lindendo you have a discord or somewhere you post to let people know when things are back in stock?
have a waiting list.. but generally have stock of most right now. PM me if you aren't seeing it and I can try and help
web discord not work good
v 1.2 , build id: 20180507
can't copy paste
i work on OPI 2E+ with onboard flash
No response to 'Command.device_state' command with seq id '0x02'
You're looking for the stuff above that
With zigpy_znp
Upload the entire chunk of the log somewhere
if i can't connect few mixed ZB devices each to other, should i use some other package like zigbee2mqtt or it can be done with cluster groups binding ??
failed to probe ZNP radio. strange as it shows up in the available radios in the drop down when trying to set up ZHA
Right, but I'm interested in the debug output. It'll be like 100 lines.
I'll have to do some more searching through the logs tomorrow. thanks for now. goodnight
hi folks ...i have a tradfri hub, can I pair and control phillips hue bulbs to it?
Binding is independent of the integration, it's between the two devices. What exact devices are you using?
in z2m i have made a lightgroup with 7 lights. when turning these lights on and off seperately there is no problem. But when i turn the light group on and off one light stays on. i checked that this light is in the light group in z2m and functioning correctly. Anyone an idea why this isnt working properly?
In the logs there are no errors and it even tells me that the light is turned on and off when i turn the light group on and off. When using the title button in home assistant to turn all the lights on and off the light works just fine
never mind re-added the light to the group and now it works fine. But i really wonder how a light can just stop working in a light group all of a sudden
For start i have few tuya bulbs and Paulman led Dimmer, for rc i have one tuya and one IKEA remote, and few other things which i would migrate from tuya gateway if it starts to work on armbian/HA
All devices were discovered fast but remote don't working, i only see battery status of tuya's remote and none usable function of each remote, lamp dimmers work over phone HA GUI
Obviously remote wasn't recognized correct,I can't see their trigger (button press)function
That's why I thought cluster/bind could do something, but it seems that not working
I tried bind endpoint on/off off to turn off scene and similar combination but none make any progress
I can throw all ZigBee stuff and use wifi esp-easy and wled but it isn't so fancy like ZB remote
Hello, zha randomly stops to communicate with wifi gateway, and I have to reload it in order to make it works. I enabled logs in config.yam, where now I can find they?
Which WiFi gateway?
sonoff tasmotized
I alredy checked for something better, but a lot are out of stock
however this time looks more a zha issue (i can see the console, there is no communication)
Reliability of communication with the gateway is a known problem
Upgrading to a usb/ better device will probably fix it?
Yes
Not WiFi is a good starting point
ok, a new ap is on my way
still in case, where are logs?
Buy something CC2652 based. This list is a good one, both Tube and Electrolama have been proven to have excellent customer service. The current generation of EZSP sticks (see here for some) are also a good choice for ZHA.
Anything CC2530 or CC2531 based should be avoided - they're old, slow, and only suitable for a dozen or so devices. The Sonoff ZBbridge isn't advised since it uses WiFi (built in interference causing stability/reliability issues), and the HUSBZB-1 uses an older chipset so should be avoided.
Finally, the ConBee range are fine with deCONZ, but experience with ZHA and Zigbee2MQTT appears to be mixed.
The logs will be the same ones as for HA I suspect
New AP ?
stick?
AP is useless usually the abbreviation for access point
Which doesn't exist in ZigBee
I encountered the exact same problem yesterday evening, and haven't solved it yet. I have a mix of 8 nodes from Ikea, Philips in my Zigbee network in addition to CC2531 stick (yes, that's just for testing. a new one has been ordered).
I was wondering if it might NOT be an issue specific to the device I'm trying to pair, as I've had problems pairing E1603, Ikea onoff-switch and Ikea bulb. Even though Ikea onoff-switch and Ikea bulb of identical model paired just fine, with the exact same factory reset procedure...
We're travelling for xmas now, so I'll try again after xmas. With a little luck then I can try with a different/better coordinator USB stick
has anyone. ordered from ELELabs recently and shipped to Canada - Flat Rate $8 seems reasonable - but curious of the timing - my guess is like 4 weeks at that rate.
debating between the ELElabs USB vs the Sonoff Zigbee 3 + 2 more temp sensors - Same price shipped for both ($38 USD)
Hi. Having a hard time getting a new set up with ZHA. Getting "Failed to Connect". Am probably just missing something simple here. Debug Logs: https://gist.github.com/Jabberie/56a9d38588ebb55caee01190c7508712
what is your host system. looks like the serial connection isn't happening
RPi
Might try a new cable. although my prev coordinator was working just fine with the current one.
odd for sure. HASSOS? on the pi? if you had previous stick working over serial def start suspecting hardware the wire or stick
ya, it's on a short usb extender cable that I just swapped out the dongle but it's an old cable so meh.
So just got done moving to ha and finished setting up my zwave network using zwave2mqtt and was looking at using zigbee2mqtt for the zigbee side of things but from what I have read I'm going to need a different usb adapter as the zigbee one's I have are not supported.
Is there any vendors in the states that sell compatible usb sicks or a poe based network hub?
Everything I have seen comes from over seas.
Ty
Hi all, could someone help me to achieve my goal, or at least understand the functionality?
Q: I have very nice and simple Radiator Thermostat (Hama 00176592) connected to HA using RaspBee II + ZHA. Am wondering, am I able to get from ZHA (or somwhere else) full json of current states of all params? I tried to get values from clusters/attributes, but there is lotta attributes which are not related to this device.
The XY problem is asking about your attempted solution rather than your actual problem.
This leads to enormous amounts of wasted time and energy, both on the part of people asking for help, and on the part of those providing help.
The problem occurs when people get stuck on what they believe is the solution and are unable to step back and explain the issue in full.
If you explain your goal I'm sure people can help you achieve that
Am trying to get all parameters the Valve supports. Because while using clusters/attributes I can't tell if None means that the value is not set, or that value does not exist. The reason why I start digging here is, that I wanted to find out what is the cool down temperature. But all cooldown found in attributes says None
Looking at the docs for that (albeit on the Zigbee2MQTT page: https://www.zigbee2mqtt.io/devices/SEA801-Zigbee_SEA802-Zigbee.html) it looks like that isn't something that it can return.
Hi Rosemary. Am not sure if we can compare it, I have tested several valves in HA using Deconz, ZHA and also Zigbee2Mqtt and I had also this SEA802 from Saswell which is physically same as Hama 00176592 and I couldn't even connect it.
Hey. I just now have a bug again that I currently can reproduce in HA.
I'm using ZHA and my TRV is showing that it's set to 5°C. When I set it to 20°C in the HA UI it stays at 20°C but as soon as I reload the page or switch menus, it is reverting to 5°C.
I doubt that it's the valve that is reverting the setting, since the logbook doesn't show the valve changing even for a sec.
I can manually adjust the wanted temp on the TRV by hand (phisically) and that works. After that phyical change I can adjust it again in HA for some time but after 1 day or so I end up in the same problem.
Any ideas? The normal server logs don't show any error or message regarding that, but I don't know if I can enable some verbose logging or so to see much more details.
Does anyone have the simple IKEA Tadfri shortcut button working with ZHA? Mine shows up as a sensor (power) with the correct-seeming quirk. I've found a forum post discussing this but it went off-topic before hitting a solution that worked for me (For example: https://community.home-assistant.io/t/ikea-shortcut-button/214998). I don't see the button presses when listening for zha_event in the developer tools, even with the listener set to * I cannot find any events that seem to be me pressing the physical button.
I'm a newbie still so I might be overlooking something obvious to you seasoned vets.
Did you try listening to deconz_event?
As described in that forum post? No, as it seemed nonsensical to me. The original post (and I) are trying to integrate using zha. As far as I know, that means I don't have deconz_event installed.
I'll delete the device and listen to zha_event while re-adding it
Should be no need to delete it
Just listen to the events and then press the button
No event is listed for the button press.
Tinkerer, any tipp for my problem above? I even restarted HA but the problem is still there :/
Did you try the blueprint linked in that thread? https://community.home-assistant.io/t/zha-ikea-tradfri-shortcut-button/261936
You sure the issue is not in your device? Am using TRV too, latest HA Core + latest ZHA and I don't have any problem with self resetting . Actually I might have encoutered something simillar at the beginning while I was testing other TRV's but those were apparently already used, so I did factory reset to every device to get rid of setup I didn't do, since I didn't want the TRV live it's own live, but to be fully controllable by HA, no problem since
I also see no zha_event content in the listener during repairing the device after deletion...
hmm, I got 6 TRVs and most of them work just fine... Any way I could check if it's a problem in HA (the TRVs are using a custom quirk which might have problems?) or in the valve itself?
@slate leaf posted a code wall, it is moved here --> https://hastebin.com/esabopihey
Yes. Step 4 is the part where I see no data.
Button presses do not generate an event there.
Neither is an event generated during pairing (not sure if it should generate anything but I thought I'd try that).
And you can confirm, the device is connected in ZHA, right? You see at least that battery status
Yes and I can see it in the visual map.
That's as much as I know about confirming whether it's connected or not.
ok, in ZHA Device Info, click on reconfigure device and try again
i also tried the pastebin stuff but when i change temperatures in HA it doesnt show me any info. Is this only meant for actions that are coming FROM the valves?
So not all devices are experiencing same issue? If so, you got ur answer
'current_temperature' is sensor, 'temperature' is target
well, i also don't get any event when I change temp in HA for some other valve that is working
Now I am getting events and the click worked. This is absurd, I tried reconfiguring already several times before this with no results.
But I won't question that for now I guess
Thanks for your help.
Well speaking about listening events using TRVs, I don't get any value but still all works
Not a problem, happy to help!
so... maybe it's the wrong event I'm listening to? :/
I just start listening events and did everything what was possible with my TRV and did not see any response. So maybe we both need some clarification on how this should work. But again, while controlling this device from HA, everything works well. You can also go directly to ZHA > Your Device and retrieve manually the state of attributes from Manage Clusters by choosing the cluster and attribute and click on GET. But this will bring you to the same place where I am now. I would love to see all possible options in one request
Brilliant! Thanks for this link!!
Interesting issues, i'm using some zigbee bulbs (generic ones) and they work fine if they're turned on at the switch then the rpi4 is turned on and HA started, however, if the rpi4 is turned on (with Ha running) then the bulbs are turned on at the switch, it doesn't pick them up and I can't control them?
@lofty junco posted a code wall, it is moved here --> https://hastebin.com/eyipunihub
But as soon as i reload the page, it has the old temp again.
And there is no recorded event that is indicating that the temp was lowered again.
- Ensure you have the TRV excluded from any automation
- Check clusters/attribute or directly on TRV the target temperature
- Change the temperature in HA
- Do the point 2 again
Is the changed value in TRV?
I strongly doubt the refresh of the web page would send something to your TRV, it rather looks like unresolved change. HA will show you changed state sometimes, but did it already happend?
Like, if you turn on the automation toggle, which appears as ON, but in the background something went wrong so it is actually off. Or some actions need some time to be resolved (timeout?). For example yesterday my trv needed for about 10s to proceed the change. The automation appeared as done, but than I've refreshed the automation debug window and I've seen the workflow got really completed after some time
Does it fail to connect even if you manually select the radio type (ZNP) and try again?
I tried with a new cable. still had issue. I then tried directly connected but in a different usb port. It worked.
previous to it working, I was manually selecting ZNP
Hmm, the new connection logic might be less than 100% reliable
I've managed to discover my powered devices. Battery devices are getting stuck on starting interview but I've gotten passed that before.
Though I'm not sure why that would depend on the USB connection, that seems like it should either work or not work
Are they IKEA?
No. All out of aliexpress. Motion and temp sensors.
Plugged straight into a USB 3 port may be the problem. Try reconnecting it with the extension, you can do it without restarting HA
But I'm not too worried about this part. I had the same problem before with the old coordinator and they worked eventually.
I've read about the interference issue so will move it out with a 3m usb cable shortly.
Do I have the wrong understanding that powered zigbee devices can be used to add new devices? So if I have one closer to a battery device, i might have better luck adding it through it?
Anything with a battery will be off 99% of the time
Most things plugged into an outlet or a light bulb socket will extend your mesh
Perfect. I've read about keeping battery things alive to get through the interview so will try that as well.
Getting a delay of about 500ms on automation device button trigger -> device lightbulb toggle (compared to toggling the device in app directly which is nearly instant). Any way to speed this up? (zha but maybe this is a general ha question).
depends
what button
and is it consistent
or only when the button hasn't been used for a while
it's a zigbee lightswitch button thingy (TS0024)
it's consistently slow - probabbly closer to a second
can you enable debug logging for homeassistant.core
so we can see when the trigger registers and when the automation fires?
that should give us everything... the event / trigger and the automation
ok can do
logger:
default: warning
logs:
homeassistant.core: debug
something like this right?
are you providing a transition? some bulbs behave very flaky
just doing a toggle
I'll check that (without the button)
they are Hive lightbulbs of some kind
that config looks good
you can also turn it on w/ a service call I believe
so you don't have to restart
too late but thanks 🙂
ok took a bit of poking after the restart
automation wasnt firing at all - added a different one to toggle a light on a CC2531 router and that working.......and the other automation triggering again
same delay though
devices were reporting in according to zha though
anyway! 🙂
just on the server logs page?
no you need to get the data from the log itself
ok I see it....
Unless I'm missing something, the timestamps for the logs are only seconds precision?
it all happens at 2021-12-22 18:15:56 😄
unfortunately... i forgot about that
maybe thats the source of the delay 🤔 (waiting for a second press)
depends on how the device works
I can double click pretty fast will try that 😄
yeah didn't help.....it's slow to double click too
any other ideas? 🙂
- I don't have any automation in HA yet.
- temp on the TRV (inside HA) is 22°C
- changing temp in HA to 20°C
- Temp on the device is still 22°C
Good, as I said, HA is just UI when you refresh it will take back the value of the device. So now you've proved that the change is not being passed to device. Did you tried to call service manually from Developer Tools > Services?
is it "climate.set_termperature"? Or is this only for climate devices?
That's the right one
Are the logs flushed per line maybe? Could try:
tail -f /config/home-assistant.log | xargs -IL echo "[[`cat /proc/uptime`]] L"
did that, set the temp to 15°C but that didn't change the actual temp on that device
my linux no good this give same uptime 😄
@slate leaf for some other TRV on my hose, which doesn'T get "stuck" the devtools -> service works for changing its temp. But not for this other problematic one...
if the logs are flushed each line looks like HA is being fast, just the device slow to send the event:
112438.72 440939.81 >> 2021-12-22 18:54:15 DEBUG (MainThread) [homeassistant.core] Bus:Handling <Event zha_event[L]: ...

Well maybe this one is faulty then. Is it same mark as the others? Cause you've said at the begining the issue is in HA, but for what I see so far, the issue is defo in that device
same brand, same charge (i guess). got a 6-unit set.
Really, if others work well. Again, maybe faulty one. I would recommend you, remove it from ZHA, do the factory reset of that device and pull out the batteries for few seconds/minutes. Then reconnect and try again.
hmm, maybe your're right. Will try that. Really weird that the other TRVs don't have this problem :/
I was also thinking that maybe that valve has some preset heating schedule, but i didn'T see any. also that valve is still heating even though it's +4°C over the setted temp... weird.
Yeah, that's what I was talking about before. Possibly some setup is in place and factory reset should fixed that. Otherwise this device is faulty
Just for my interest can you tell me the Mark and number of that device?
the device has an "auto" mode but that is turned off. So I figured al lschedules are off. But yeah, will do the factory reset and see what's going on there.
Oh yeah, very common one, but unfrotunately I did not test this specific one. Anyway, since you can make lotta changes directly on that device, it's quite possible, that it will ruin later interaction with that device from HA. If you have also that zigbee gate, try also use the TUYA app to reset this device or look on it's setup and compare it with others
hm.... now that you mention it.... i never used the tuya app.... it could be, that there is an pending firmware update that i could install on those devices i guess? But i already connected all 6 TRVs into my HA, what is the recommended process now? Should I maybe de-attach all of them from HA, connect all to the tuye app, look for updates, install them, reset them and then connect them back to HA?
And by the way: Do you have any recommendation for mid-budget TRVs that maybe are behaving better?
Yeah, defintely you will have to remove them from ZHA, but do it only with that faulty, find the factory reset button if there is some, or that firmware upgrade and if not, detach also the second device and compare setup. No need to do that with all devices
hmm, but if there's an firmware update, wouldnt it be best to install that on all of them?
My experience said the best one is 'Hama 00176592'. It is nice, very easy, fast response and you can't do much setup on TRV itself (big plus from my perspective). There is lot of similar device to this one and some even bit cheaper, so you can try them, but from my experience I've tried also Saswell which looks same, but I was not able even connect it to ZHA/DeConz/ZigbeeToMQTT (Also, maybe faulty device).
Yes, but if not, you will generate more work for yourself to recconect them back
I just got a sonoff zigbee 3.0 usb dongle and I'm passing it through to WSL2 Ubuntu how do I add it to ZHA? Like what is the device serial path?
zack@DESKTOP-DJT42SK:/mnt/c/Users/Zack$ lsusb
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0003 Linux Foundation 3.0 root hub
Bus 001 Device 002: ID 10c4:ea60 Silicon Labs CP210x UART Bridge <--- Here it is
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
What happens when you add the ZHA integration and select the serial port in the dropdown?
Nothing shows
As in there is no serial port shown in the dropdown?
Nope
What does ls -l /dev/serial/by-id/* show?
No such file or directory
What about /dev/tty*?
And python -c "from serial.tools.list_ports import *; [print(repr(p.device)) for p in comports()]"
looked the Hama ones up, I think I will get one and replace the faulty TRV with that one. If that works without problems and the TRV itself also works flawlessly over some days, then I think I will replace all of my old TRVs with the new hama ones and return the 6-pieces as (partly) faulty. Thx for the hint 🙂
Btw, do you know if there are already default ZHA quirks for that hama one that work directly?
because for my TRVs a user on github had me import a custom quirk config to my HA to make them work :/
It's really almost plug and play.
but just making sure: u are using it directly with HA over ZHA, right? nothing with the hama app?
Yes, make just sure, that it will work with your zigbee module, but I assume this will not be a problem I have it on RaspBee II with latest firmware. Like that I just put the TRV to pairing mode and let ZHA to find it. Once done I could do my automation
It's so easy that I have decided to buy three of them to my father on Xmas. And he is really good firewall for complicated and not clear things.
I think it's the case that WSL2 does not support serial devices?
They may be the /dev/ttyS* entries
But ZHA expects pyserial to enumerate all of the serial ports
You might be able to do mkdir /dev/serial/by-id/ and sudo ln -s /dev/ttyS0 /dev/serial/by-id/windows0, etc. to "trick" PySerial if it's a problem with the package, though I doubt it
Or select the "manual" dropdown entry and type in /dev/ttyS0. I believe the 0 corresponds to COM0, so you'll have to find the COM port for your device.
This just gives a Failed to connect
I'll try the other method and then admit defeat
Enable https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/zha/#debug-logging and see what the log shows
I don't think HA is tested on WSL but it should run
Wsl doesn't support usb passthrough since it is based on hyperv
I thought WSL2 did
Afaik, no
I tried with my yubikey
No go
And since hyperv doesn't, it makes sense that a layer on top doesn't
In that case, you can use some COM-to-TCP application and use the socket://ip.addr:port protocol as the "manual" entry in ZHA. A little hacky but it should sidestep the problem.
Running ha in wsl is already so hacky I would just say
Don't do it
Outside of testing
HA is more or less pure Python, it may not be tested but it should mostly work
any reason my aqara motion sensor would stop repsponding? z2m sees it, but it doesn't change state.
Should work, it is still a horrible way to do it
Battery is one reason, a router it doesn't like is another (see the pins)
100% on battery, and the coordinator is a tubez poe.
Router != coordinator
Aqara battery stats are useless, they always read 100%
Funny that wsl1 worked fine with serial
oh lovely.
Nah, I've got some that read less
What?
Now, Konke... that's another story
I don't see the issue, personally
Let me see if it works for me with WSL2
COM to TCP is probably the only way then
i'm still without working way to get remote controls to work
Model: CC2531, Z-Stack Home 1.2 (build 20180507)
can this usb part drive zigbee 3 devices
Yes, but it's a crap stick
You have TuYa devices. If they don't actually follow the Zigbee specification and have actual clusters, you can't bind them to other stuff.
but i gave one tuzya and one ikea r.c.
not all devices support binding
ikea have registered actions for buttons but when i make automation "on button-on" turn light it not fire that event
Does someone here uses the h1 double rocker switch from aqara?
Reconfigure the device in ZHA. It may not have setup attribute reporting properly when you joined it to your network.
how to do this reconfiguration ? i removed an added hour ago, but nothing repaired
In the device page, there is a "reconfigure device" button
i tried developer-tools/event to check if it make any event, but it does not
The device reconfiguration failed. Additional information may be available in the logs.
some check was green but some failed
off-on was green , does it mean that at least core fn work ?
yup i did that.... clicked while it reconfigured
i know i have crappy stick, but this only what i have until i obtain better, it have 1.2 v but i have seen lot comments about versions and problems with ZigBee 3.0 devices...
i don't know if there is sense to mess around update fw
It can handle many more than 3 devices and the problem is likely not with the stick
But updating the firmware is a good idea, you're running an ancient build of Z-Stack from Sonoff
some zb3.0 security issues. .. i read it on open hub support for same stick
?
Other than the stick erroneously permitting joins on startup (fixed in ZHA), it's about as secure as any Zigbee coordinator
can it be update without solder on it ?
I've not tested it in a while but https://github.com/zigpy/zigpy-znp/blob/dev/TOOLS.md#flash-write should work with https://github.com/Koenkk/Z-Stack-firmware/blob/master/coordinator/Z-Stack_Home_1.2/bin/default/CC2531_DEFAULT_20211115.zip
i mean not problem to solder, but just asking, i seen lot "hardware" way to update fw, i don't know if it have some own bootloader to update it from own usb
Doesn't mention the serial bootloader method
i checked... no way to update without soldering pins then making some of shown programming devices... if have to do i preffer esp8266 as programming hardware,
See the link I posted above. The CC2531 has a serial bootloader, but if you have a microcontroller then do it with the ESP8266.
question is if it solve my problem
i mean update from 1.2 to 1.2.2
because.... dimmers and bulbs working on it
just zigbee "input devices" not working
i succesfully connected my tuya gateway over tuya devel-cloud but is somehow overkill for HA
and seams that it is trial so after some time tuya would kick me ot it will probably stop work when trial expire
as far i understood modus operant... .but this way i could use remote via tuya cloud
not preferred way but may work until i obtain better usb coordinator
The coordinator won't fix problems arising from device configuration issues
Some HA updates causes a few of my ZigBee devices to become unavailable. After updating to 2021.12.3 U have 22 unavailable devices. Why does this happen and can I fix it remotely? DeCONZ and Conbee II.
How long has it been since you updated?
where i can see some real time receiving ZB messages (i know log, but is so messy now when all debug options are enabled)
2 days maybe
i have broadling pro plus and i intended to use it for remote controlers, but it isn't plug and play neither, and i'm new in it
it was "project" to install all on orange pi emmc http://www.orangepi.org/orangepiplus2e/plus2e_shuoming_en.jpg but now it work
is there some comparibility list which remote and which coordinator to buy to work all together
No, because it's more about the integration and the device - the coordinator is largely irrelevant
this ikea things is easy to buy in shop no need to online order, as all from china to Croatia travel month
but to "integrate" successfully i should firstly have some push button test for in example ikea remote, and i can't get it to work... so i don't know from where to dig...
versions of everithing ? config files ? logs ? or maybe to make an virtual machine on pc and test it on it if work
Have you managed to pair the remote to ZHA?
I can't work out from what you've posted what your actual problem is
And the remote? You have it paired?
those are paulman dimmers
yes i have tuya and ikea remote, both paired
but tuya see only batery status
That's normal
Remotes normally work with events with ZHA - you don't get entities, you just get device triggers and events
ok, next i created automation and with power on button on ikea tried to call power light on scene, but it dont work
i tried all buttons triggers
not work
Well, you have to write an automation that uses the correct entities and states, or events and event data
i was looking in development>event>listen * but nothing fires out
how can i check if any event trigger work from R.C
i have read that with "manage clusters" is possible to get action if normal not working...
but i'm still exploring and learning as just few days have this thing on desk
I will check messages in hour , gtg, bye
Ordered from cloud free - is that site admin on here? Order shipped in under 3 hours from when I placed it which is awesome
Not sure, but keep in mind it's likely that a shipping label was just generated instead of actually being shipped out
Any ideas why it shows up but then fails? https://imgur.com/a/zf6mutQ
(I built a custom Linux kernel to allow serial devices - https://askubuntu.com/a/1374775)
Look at the debug log: https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/zha/#debug-logging
Yep
Uhm, new to Linux what's the quickest way to sort this?
I ordered this on Amazon same day delivery for £20, pretty crazy
Depends on how you're running HA. You probably need to give its/your user permission to access serial ports and log out and back in
It depends on what distribution you're using and what its settings are for the various groups but I believe dialout is what Ubuntu uses
Anyone got an older Centralite 3305-S motion/temperature sensor? It's flashing orange on motion which it doesn't normally do. It's stopped reporting motion (but still reports temp) so I am assuming that it's low battery or something,
I got it working, thanks for all the help
I might write a guide on how to do this for others, any ideas of where to post it?
Great! Maybe try https://community.home-assistant.io/ ?
Does anyone know if there is a resource where you can look up a device to see what entities it has and what they do?
Thanks!
Hi. Is there a way to directly link an LED controller to a door sensor? I'm looking for an alternative to https://trescolighting.com/freedim
I say that because I'm pretty sure their remote (and by extension everything else) is just chinese zigbee.
Thats what i assumed - but its already hopped two locations in indiana - label looks like it was made in under an hour, and then at USPS within 3.
hey guys - my quest continues to ziggyfi my house - from wifi devices !
sonoffs mainly...
hope its not sonoff sensors
Is there a good way for me to see stats for all the devices on one screen!
@violet dagger mainly sonoff basics
create a page in the #frontend-archived and add them
Yaml baby
@violet dagger however.... I was about to pull the trigger on a load of their temp sensors - why not . are they crap?
yes they are
Xiaomi
Aqara 🍡

why ?
I do admit i have aqara snsor already in bathroom and it's flawless
but pricey
compared to sonoff
and then you'll spend more replacing them with aqara sensors
or spend the difference replacing the 2450 cells every 6 months
i've bought a single sonoff zigbee temp sensor off amazon to test it
but ok.. thanks for warning
back to getting this zigbee info in HA
I don't see it
i mean on a device i see this...

hmmm... looks like my aqara door sensor battery will finally need to be replaced
so why are these sonoff sensors bad compared to aqara ?
Is it true that Sonoff Zigbee dongle can actually work at 20 dbi amplification
compared to standard 5 with z-stack
if so, is there custom firmware that can take advantage of this?
I just rebuilt my HA Zigbee installation with the Sonoff 3.0 (previously deleted the ZHA).
Is a lot better than the Conbee II before.
However, in the visualization and device list I now see two coordinators.
In the visualization is a "unk_model from unk_manufacturer" connected to the end devices.
The second "ZNP = Texas Instruments Z-Stack ZNP protocol: CC253x, CC26x2, CC13x2
from ZHA" is not connected to any device.
What would you do?
repair?
just remove the integration and the config files
zigbee.db and zha.storage in .storage
then add the integration back
@mighty river
Can you delete the old coordinator entry?
is "Texas Instruments Z-Stack ZNP protocol: CC253x, CC26x2, CC13x2" the old conbee-II?
No
i guess in here the answer is yes, but is the consensus that Zigbee is a better way than wifi for HA?
i think so for reasons...
tinks - yes, that and seems "lighter"... leaving wifi for other things
WiFi is fine for Tasmota and ESPHome, or anything else that's actually 100% local
also no IP address management which I appreciate....
i will still have a few esphome devices on wifi
but they will be the exceptions
pairing also easier i think with zigbee
"setting up" basically.
I would like more of a centralised management view though, find the visualisation thing in HA ZHA quirky and pretty useless...
all those bubbles and lines moving around like some crazy video game!
rather just have a table view... is that possible ?
No idea, I don't use it, but then I also don't care what the "map" looks like if things work
that's true i guess, if it works, it works.
I am using ZHA integration currently and I want to try z2m. Is there a way to temporarily disable the ZHA integration so I can try z2m? I am assuming they can't both run at the same time because they need to access the port of the zigbee stick.
Yep, I have a card for that
I’ll look at adding a check box to disable physics
Dear all, is anyone else being unable to pair any new devices to the C2652P coordinator? I've tried both the recommended 202103 firmware for Ebyte board and the latest 20211217 version. Both work perfectly fine for the existing network but I can't connect any device
I've asked on the zigbee2mqtt discord with no responses so far. Has anyone had and resolved this issue?
i just installing fresh x86 virtual image of HA to test if ikea remote will work on it with same crappy usb stick
totally same.... ikea tradfre rounded remote not working on another platform
dimmers found on power on, remote found on pairing, but when i make an automation i can't power light with "Turn on" button pressed trigger or any other
any experience with that ??
what is "Quirk" ? can anyone point me to some fixing direction
The ikea ones are all a mess because they keep changing things in firmware
I’ll try to take a pass at the devices I have soon
The thing is that in my case I have 5 devices on my desk, neither of which is able to pair with the network while the core of my network with 40 devices works just fine.
I've tried going back and forth between firmwares and it's not it.
Changing USB ports, restarting the VM in which HA is running or the HA OS made an effect either
i tried that blueprint upload
i have feeling that HA not understand / not see any remote trigger, but what to workaround ? i would buy another remote but i don't know which is native supported
does using zigbee2mqtt solve problem with ikea ? and other things ? tuya etc ?
can zigbee2mqtt coegzist on same SBC (orange pi) ? or i have to put another one board ?
I have a zigbee noob question: When I'm trying to pair a new device to my zigbee network, does my network's range extension with existing devices not help it?
Mostly all mains powered devices act as routers in the mesh
Battery powered ones do not, with a few exceptions
I see—I have a couple smart plugs that I've confirmed act as routers, and I have one near a new device that I'm trying to add to my network, but it's not showing up when I get to the "Searching for ZHA Zigbee devices..." part. So my guess was that I'll need to bring my Conbee stick right next to this new device
No
Never move the coordinator
And always pair a device in its planned installation location
That said, you are the 15th or so user who has complained about issues lately and mentioned Conbee
Ah okay, I think I understand why. Any ideas on what I could try? My home is enormous so range issues was my first guess
More routers
I have a 252m2 house, with three floors
I have around 70 routers
Never any issues or devices dropping off
Nice. My house is about 1020 square meters (assuming I converted right, ~11k square feet), so adding devices sounds like a good idea
My home assistant rpi4 is in a server closet in the corner of the lower floor of the house, and that's where the conbee stick is, so it's probably struggling
Thanks for your help!
The coordinator in the middle of the house is a great idea
Also selecting the least congested frequencies are a good idea
Holy shit
You def need routers
Sir/madam, that's a mansion
Srsly has to be like 10 beds 😂
I thought my 1200 sq ft single story house with a full basement (so about 2000 sq ft total) was big
But damn
I've just tried to add 6 identical PIR sensors. 2 of them have been recognized as TUYA TS0202. 4 of them are Unrecognized yet still show as TS0202. Have tried deleting and repairing them. Any tips. The 1st one connected fine. The next 4 Unsupported. The 6th one was recognized.
Are there good units for use with the pi Zero? Possibly in kit form or otherwise needing very little configuration?
Holy shit, same house size and configuration and I have a pretty decent mesh with 7 routers. But I don't do bulbs so that's why the numbers won't go up very fast. But yeah for 1k m2 you'd need at least two dozens very well-placed routers in order to cover the whole house. I try to always have a router less than 15ft from every end device as a rule of thumb.
By units I mean zigbee coordinator hat
They are pretty cheap anyway.
Look for a CC2652. They are a lot better than the slightly cheaper ones
I'm not even sure if I need a full HA system. Just trying to make lights turn on with door sensors.
I bought a CC2652 for only $44 AU.
Gives much longer range than the cheaper ones. So less likely to need a repeater.
If you add more and more things, it can handle over 200 devices comfortably
It's not much more than the cheapest ones. And HA seems to be like Pringles....
Can be frustrating though.
Trying to add 6 identical PIR sensors and 2 connect perfectly yet 4 connect yet are unrecognized
I run 12 Ikea GU10 tradfri bulbs just on the outside of my house
i am thinking of getting some more ikea gu10s
moved to a new house, brick walls, zigbee2mqtt up with all sensors in boxes, all bulbs (routers) not powered (in boxes), my cc2652r connected to my tuya din rail energy meter that i paired previously trough 4 walls with at least 20 meters distance 😄
I bought GU10's off Ali Express. $44 AU for 5. They work perfectly
yeah, they are good co-ordinators 🙂
Shame some of the devices don't work so well
not even connected but it gives good readings :))
i am switching out my conbee II for the sonoff stick today
is the sonoff stick a cc2652r
@copper solarwelcome to the light
?
i listened yesterday...
i paid too much on amazon for getting it today!
one day delivery but hey ho
Yes 🙂
no idea i have zig-a-zig-ah (zzh)
Like the Spice Girls?
Zigbee Spice
thanks
strangely my conbee II has been ok, but i hear from you guys that the sonoff stick is better
and as it's at the centre of things i guess i should do it !
ZHA on HA
has anyone managed to get this https://zigbee.blakadder.com/Moes_MS-105Z.html working with ZHA? i cant add it but no entities materialize so its rather useless
hello everyone, newcomer here (feel free to point out if I'm in the wrong channel)
I installed HA with LinuxServer.io's docker-compose.yml stack on a Debian 11 Bullseye VM under a Træfik 2.5 reverse proxy with Docker's labels.
I recently bought an Ikea Tradfri gateway (zigbee) and some compatible bulbs and a button. I then just had a chat with an Ikea "expert" who shut the "chat door" right in front of my face when I asked how to set a static IP to the gateway because he didn't know and the in-store reps didn't either (but I digress)...
So what would be a good alternative gateway system that actually works 100% of the time, and doesn't require me to set up complicated DHCP ranges and static leases?
Thank you in advance!!
Well, for the IKEA integration, you should probably go to #integrations-archived, or you can get a Zigbee stick and connect it to your machine (and pass it through to the docker container), and pair the devices directly using ZHA, Z2M, or Deconz. (I will say, you can definitely set a fixed IP address on your router, and you shouldn't need to do any more than that.)
Ikea integration was a mention, but since the "level of decency and competence" of the "experts" on phone/chat support from Ikea is like that, I posted here asking for alternatives because (like said before, since that's their level) I would like to switch off of that thing
Lights and buttons are just "dumb devices" in the end, the gateway has to be "smart" enough to integrate well with other systems and such, and if they can't stand even a simple question like "how to set a static IP address", I would like another USB stick or RPi or whatever to handle my devices and not their gateway 🤷♂️
Any suggestions about what stick / RPi hat to use? 😬
I'm using a Sonoff dongle (https://sonoff.tech/product/diy-smart-switch/sonoff-dongle-plus/) and Zigbee2MQTT. All my IKEA plugs work great so far, though I've yet to move the lightbulbs and blinds over. It's worth getting a USB extension cable to place the dongle appropriately, and remove the likelihood of interference.
Don't zigbee devices use each other like a network to spread the signal to the indended device like a multi-cell DECT system for cordless phones?
I would put the dongle just outside the rack cabinet with an extension that goes to the server, and have zigbee light bulbs in the main room of the servers, some other bulbs in the corridor, and some other in my smart working studio and bedroom
IIRC it should work "just fine" using each other device as bridge and not interfere with walls in between, since a path of direct "seeing each other" device exist...
(tho, I'm new to the system and I'm basing myself off of rumors and past experiences from friends, not mine directly, hence I might be totally wrong)
Powered Zigbee devices should, but positioning the dongle right is worth it!
If it were in a rack, it would almost certainly suffer. But your plan sounds good to me.
Ooh, this is new to me, it logically makes actual sense, but only devices like light bulbs and sockets spread signal like a network, not a CR232 battery powered smart button...
PS: it's a LackRack, so it shouldn't interfere even if left inside directly attached to the back of the server 😅
I went to Ikea for a reason, Lacks are way less expensive than a "real" cabinet 😂 (and their dimensions are accurate too, LOL)
This might be useful: https://www.zigbee2mqtt.io/advanced/zigbee/01_zigbee_network.html
Even those might! The equipment itself plays a big role. And if you can get the dongle centered then that gives you a good place to start.
LOL, ya probably right... even mosfet switching frequencies depending on the CPU load (more or less voltage to the CPU) might interfere with low power networks like zigbee
