i have many issues. z-stack firmware bugs. Inovelli switches dropping their children. lol
I can see the logs of the remotes signal being detected, the automation just doesn't fire
The tuya integration works really well it's just a pain to set up
Word of warning, I think the only reason it works for me is my main network is on channel 20 and I think the tuya default's to 15
Hi, since yesterday my Sky connect is failing to set up ZHA.
https://pastebin.com/y0k1hTee
Anyone knows what the issue could be?
Running HA 2023.4.6
Fixed it by turning of server and doing full reboot, just rebooting HA didn't help
Hey guys
I was planning some automations, but I think I need some guidance
I was planning on using a zigbee button such as the aqara button that has "hold" states
I wanted to activate an automation while the button is pressed, and deactivate when the button is released
But I'm not sure if any button has that state, I interpreted "hold" to be like a "while held" but come to think of it it might be more like "when held for 3 sec"
Remember, always turn it off and then on again
Fixes 99% of tech problems across the world
Anyone has issues with Sonoff Zigbee Bridge Pro?
Hey guys, my zigbee extension lead is showing the switches as lights. Any ideas how i can correct this?
It seems to crash after cc.flash()
Yeah - it is ZHA. The weird thing is i have 3 of these leads and 2 of them both pick up the correct quirk but this particular one does not.
check the device signatures - guess tuya and the thrid has a slightly different signature causing the quirk not to match
That is what i thought. All of them show as "TS011F by _TZ3000_cfnprab" but the third has a slightly different manufacturer number
you maybe able top copy to the quirk to the custom local quirks and add the additional manufacturer id to it - if it works consider making a PR to zha device handlers
Anyone know of a zigbee hdmi switch? My TV is short on hdmi ports but don't want to have a physical switch
Ya'll running the new Aqara E1 curtain motor yet in ZHA?
i've got it up and running but after a few seconds it goes unavailable.
not sure if there's a quirk cooked up for it yet
scratch that i found a quirk and it does work but the device continues to just go offline after a few seconds
Has anyone had trouble (or success I guess) pairing a sonoff smart plug using ZHA?
It’s in pairing mode maybe 10-15 feet from the controller and it’s not being found
So I just had to reset one of their relays and had an issue too
remove it from the wall
then plug it back in and hard reset it
then try
for the relay I needed to kill the breaker for a few to get it to pair even though it was blinking / in pairing mode
weird. I tried that a couple of times now and no dice but will try again. Not sure how to do a hard reset though, will have to look that up
Probably just holding the button on it for like 10s
I should note that this is the newer plug model S40
didn't know the difference between that and the S31
so went for the higher number
k will try, thanks
Iirc people on the forums prefer the s31 zigbee variant over the 40/lite. I got the s31 Wi-Fi ones and flashed them with esphome and they’re great
Good to know. Maybe I’ll return these and switch. Do you know what the difference is? Tried to find it but couldn’t get any details
I wanted power monitoring but didn’t want to have all that traffic on my zigbee mesh
On sale mine were around $6 a piece but I checked yesterday and they weren’t currently on sale
Innr and Sengled also have decently priced energy monitoring plugs as well
something about the constant stream of sensor data makes me feel like zigbee would be a bad choice for energy monitoring outself
but honestly i know literally nothing so im probably totally wrong lmao
Well it’s bandwidth is rated in kbps so.. no you’re not wrong
It’s roughly double that of zwave I think
Hence my suggestion above for Wi-Fi ones
i just wish there were more decent wifi devices that arent tuya. local control is great and all but having to futz around with tasmota or the developer site is just not a smooth or seamless experience
For what
I prefer zigbee or zwave for most things but Wi-Fi for led strips due to wled firmware
And I’m liking esphome more and more with all the templates ready to copy paste
I think Wi-Fi is getting more popular due to HomeKit support which we can still leverage as hass users with HomeKit controller
just for options honestly
i dont know if id get more wifi if i had the chance but, decent native local control would definitely sway me a bit
i honestly havent touched esphome at all
lol i have a z2m light group that keeps turning the lights back on ..
this happened to me in zha once and i went nuts trying to figure it out...turns out a service call was being sent during an accidentally abnormally long transition to off. so once it finished the transition it would go back to on state or something like that
that's what I thought, but I dont think its the case
Just changed the z-stack firmware version and the lights stay off now 😄
i was running a really old version to test something
I’m not saying it’s your fault but you make zigbee look hard and unattractive lol
And you’re like the only one who falls into that category
lol
i have had my problems with zigbee but, now it just works
cant wait for thread to still be a mess when i pick up my first product in like a year
Is there a ZHA -> Z2M migration path that doesn't involve re-pairing all my devices?
No
not now or not ever kinda thing? It'd pretty much be a weekend of work to migrate all my devices
They keep track of devices completely differently. You can use the same network settings but z2m won’t know about the devices as it didn’t interview them.
makes sense, so 'not ever'. i'll have to find a weekend to set aside for this i suppose.
I just have really bad luck with home tech.
re-pairing your devices aint fun lmao
had my network break once on zha and i had to go around trying to remember everything
ando nly 15 or so device at the time
good luck
Changed battery in 4 IKEA controllers (Been dead for a while) and now 3 units show 255% battery and one 16%.. how come? I'm sure all batteries is at max capacity, from same package
Using ZHA with a Conbee2.
I just installed an inovelli Blue Switch, with a skyconnect. I'm having trouble controlling the LED. Anyone else run into this issue?
ZHA or Zigbee2MQTT? How are you trying to control the LED? What problems are you having?
ZHA - When I try to send an action via automation it says "Unknown Error". The logs give me this: Unexpected error for device at pos 1: Failed to convert led_effect='Small_To_Big' from type <class 'str'> to <class 'zigpy.types.basic.uint8_t'>
The test doesn’t work
But the automation will
there is something whacky with the conversions when using the test function
I haven’t had a chance to look into it yet
@subtle arrow ^^
Is there a way to heal the Zigbee2MQTT network? Yesterday I needed to turn of my fusebox and lots of routers( hue lights) where powered off for about 3 hours. After turning the switch back on things like hue motions sensors are acting weird and the network is slow
Ah ok. Good to know. I'll try running the automation as a whole and see what happens. Thanks!
Just give it time
So the 255% is an issue with some IKEA controllers and the latest firmware. Quirks are also a bit limited by the fact that they can't match per firmware/version yet, as the signature is the same otherwise. It doesn't impact functionality though. (Previous firmwares needed to have their percentage doubled)
The remote with 16% should also update at some point. You can check if it's on a different firmware though.
these Inovelli switches have suspiciously low LQI
Thank you! They they seem to be on different firmwares. Well at least I know they have new batteries. They update automatic eventually right?
I have ota ikea_provider set to true in config.
I think they all should. You can trigger the update manually if you enabled ikea_provider. It can either be done through the UI or with a service call (https://github.com/zigpy/zigpy/wiki/OTA-Device-Firmware-Updates#old-service-method).
Execute that service call and then immediately press some buttons on the remote, so it wakes up and can receive the command.
There's no visual feedback of the update. It's only in debug logs at the moment.
Do note that newer IKEA remote firmware versions no longer allow binding to groups, but only direct binding to multiple lights.
I don't think it should be an issue though
The newer firmware versions are based on a much newer EZSP version. Although the ikea_provider isn't up-to-date anymore, as it still uses the TRADFRI URL for updates.
There are some more IKEA firmware files available here: https://github.com/zigpy/zigpy/discussions/660
Checked my logs because of the slow and unresponsive z2m network and it has "failed with status '(0xc7: NWK_TABLE_FULL)' (expected '(0x00: SUCCESS)'))'" al over the file? Have around 150 devices added
is this something wich can be fixed?
What coordinator are you using, and what firmware version is it using?
Zigbee2MQTT version
1.30.3 commit: 24c6b2e
Coordinator type
zStack3x0
Coordinator revision
20221226
its the sonoff dongle P
That's old old firmware
There have been many updates, some of which are explicitly for the message you're seeing
does updating my coordinator requires repairing all the devices?
Not sure if this is a hardware/zigbee or energy question but I'll try it here first, I had to unplug my smart socket from the wall cause of some changes and plugged it back in but now HomeAssistant says that the data is unavailable but in Z2MQTT it still shows data being registered. It was working for a month at least. This is the smart socket https://www.zigbee2mqtt.io/devices/TS011F_plug_1.html#tuya-ts011f_plug_1
The LQI of the smart socket is 138 highest of all.
So in devices it shows Sensors "unavailable" and the Diagnostic ones as well.
When I go to Z2MQTT dashboard it shows the state changing and updating correctly.
Seems to me that the connection with HA is interrupted but I am not sure how to troubleshoot this or reconnect, any points anyone?
Evening everyone. I'm hoping that I can come to you all for some assistance with getting an Ikea Styrbar remote and some Tradfri bulbs set up in HA. I can currently either get the little remote connected to my Zigbee adapter on my HA host OR link the remote up to the Tradfri bulbs I've got. I can't seem to figure out how to link the remote to both the bulbs and HA. (I'm using ZHA here)
Hi friends, feeling a little lost on smart switches.
Looking to get my first one set up in the place of a dumb single gang switch. I'd like a 2+ button smart switch though – one directly controlling the light fixture it's wired to and another that wirelessly switches on smart lights.
My options are limited to switches without a neutral wire. Any recommendations?
Anyone experience issues with setting the reporting time period on a Sengled switch?
does zigbee interfare with wifi because we have alot of wifi aps near by
they both interfere with each other, but wifi more so with zigbee
so would i be better with z-wave
I'm wondering that myself some days.
If you want in ZHA you basically have to make automations for each button press
You can bind with ZHA but it's really difficult to get the timing right
Oh! I need to look into that
https://paste.pfak.org/SZXZWg for example
I have a couple different types of switches so I have a script for each of them similiar to that
Hrm. Interesting behaviour I am seeing here.
Switch bound to group
Group is bound to four lights
Switch press power off, individual lights show as off but the group doesn't update.
https://mail.pfak.org/upload/EPg9gVPx9gKf8F7dDBLrFGYo/qKUSgcVyR8uD0nrJTuotkg.jpg I have way too many tests sticks now XD
Thanks for the advice there. I found some blueprints that should help with that part, my problem is that I can't get the bulbs to pair with the ZigBee stick yet
are they your aps? if so, i would recommend readining up about zigbee and wifi channels and moving the wifi to a different channel if possible
i would also check with a wifi scanner, cause it may not be as much interferene as you think
the wifi ap,s have to have auto channel mode that's how the i.t. manager wants them at the organization I volunteer at
L manager
zigbee channel 15 is the most common channel and the one supported by most devices, which is right around where wifi channels 3 and 4 are
yeah the ap,s are changing channels constantly so does that mean they might interfere
here take a look at this https://www.metageek.com/training/resources/zigbee-wifi-coexistence/
they do 2.4ghz and 6ghz
what do I do in the situation if I cant make the ap,s not use a certain channel
if you experience interference, you can channel the zigbee channel. but because not all devices follow the zigbee stardard to a t, some devices may not support the channels outside the default channel 15
will the ap,s interfere if they see something useing that channel and it switches channels to stay away from it
but also grab a wifi scanner and check, the most common 2.4ghz channels are 1, 6, and 11, and because zigbee channel 15 is right smack dab in the middle of 1 and 6, its less likely to be interefered with
idk anything about how wifi aps decide which channel to use
okay
your best bet if youre worried about wifi interference is to download a wifi analyzer app and see which channels are being used
https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/zha/#defining-zigbee-channel-to-use take a look at this too
okay thanks im guessing it uses all 2.4 bands the ap,s
we have automatic channel changing evevy 12 hours
its unlikely it uses all bands as most wifi devices stick to channels 1, 6, and 11
again, your best bet if you actually want to know is to check, rather than speculating
for some reason the id of my sonoff dongle thing keeps changing so sometimes my zigbee2mqtt doesn't work because it can't connect to it. is there any way to set two id's in the config like x id or y id?
and not involving changing the firmware because i've tried that and didn't succeed
You should use the /dev/serial/by-id/ path
Wich way do I need to go for flashing an update for my sonoff dongle P the last thing is to do something wrong (150 +devices) and start over currently have 20221226 i dont want to erase
take a backup of your coordinator for good measure
whew mmwave sensors are so sensitive, mine activates when i walk by the closer door lmao
so without the things following it? ```port: /dev/serial/by-id/usb-1a86_USB_Single_Serial_54DC010368-if00
adapter: ezsp
yea but sometimes it's changing
because now it's this
but sometimes it changes to something with sonoff
That's ... weird, and points to either you're using a VM, or the stick being faulty
not the vm, so i guess the second one
I mean, it's a Sonoff... the odds are pretty damn good (that it's faulty)
For ZHA or Zigbee2MQTT?
got that sonoff quality stamp of approval
Zigbee2MQTT
Man like slowly every one of my Hue motion sensors is going to shit. It's so frustrating. They drop off the network and then when I re-pair them with Z2M they connect, but then never report any information. This first happened earlier last year with one of them, now others are doing it too
I replaced the batteries in this one that's dying now just a month or two ago
It's like after I replace the batteries they start acting up like this
Anyone else run into anything like this or hear about this problem?
I had this problem when I switched to EMG coordinator from CC
repair or re-pair
me trying to ask chatgpt things just for the lulz:
The term "EMG" stands for "End-Device Management
🤔
re-pair
I've tried taking out and putting batteries back in and also doing a hard reset and pairing again
Sorry, what's EMG and CC?
I got these cuz they had a low timeout and temp sensors. But the temp sensors don't really update often enough to be of use and now with mmwave I don't really need the low timeouts.
I might just go back to getting P1's
Was that distance glitch ever worked out with the P1's?
Zigbee2MQTT
cc is the ti based coordinaters, emg im assuming is reffering to the silicon labs based coodinators (EFR32MGXX)
does anyone know what the field of view will be for the mmWave chip in this? https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/mmwave-smart-switch-with-presence-sensing-radar#/
wait isnt inovelli and established company why are they doing a kickstarter lmao....ahem sorry, an indiegogo campain
lol. they seem to be very fly by their pants ..
i think switchbot did that too for their blind tilt
I bought 24 of their switches and they are crap
have totally destroyed my zigbee network performance
What is the field of vision for mmWave?
At this time, we can only go off of what's currently in market as there is no prototype in hand. However, these are the specs in market and what we are asking the manufacturer to deliver: Horizontal FoV Range = 90 - 120° Vertical FoV Range = 40° Detection Range = 5 - 9 meters Distance, sensitivity and latency is user configurable through your hub.
its an easy way to derisk the launch
but it doesnt look like theyve even picked a sensor at this point
yeah so nice idea but idk if it'll make sense for our switch locations
ive got mostly sengled and aqara since theyre on the cheaper side for lights and sensors respectively
bummer
oh i didnt realize this one was a switch too
actually seems like a cool idea but it obviously requires that your switch is placed optimally
Yeah I have a cc2652
It's a tubezb coordinator
Why did you switch? I thought cc was better
iirc the sililabs ones are based on a newer something
also some theoretically support thread
cant speak for pfak, but i switched to the skyconnect for the multipan (which i currently have enabled but dont use)
I want to like them but I don't think I'm going to buy or recommend them anymore
although to be honest, i feel like this sensor has been more stable than my sonoff one efver was
i bought the hue starter kit back in 2018...that was the last hue thing i ever bought lmao
I have EMG sticks which is what SKyConnect is ..
although im surprised your not having good luck with the sensor, i heard their stuff was at least reliable
I have 3 of them, one of them I even got Hue to replace but after not too long even the replacement had the same issue
ye, thats why i referenced skyconnect
I have like 7 SML001 and SML003
They fall off the network, re-pair, but then never send any updates. Like wtf?
It's so frustrating
I had issues with EMG (SkyConnect), but they are fine with CC
Try out a CC stick for them
i have not found a single decent motion sensor, they all have problems one way or another
I have a tubezb which is cc
I was running CC for like two years, switched to an EMG coordinator.. Hue motion sensors started dropping off..
interesting
All my aqara ones have been pretty solid
everyone has different problems 😄
i am still wondering if I should have gone with z-wave
Only issues I had was when I was trying to do the presence reset hack on the original ones
im currently on the old xiaomi ones, basically the original aqara ones but with a pinhole instead of a button and no light sensor
I would not put Aqara and reliable in the same category 😄
ones been great the other not so much
All my aqara stuff has been great
zwave must have its own problems. not my area of knowledge though
Only problem which I'm not sure if it is a problem is that they don't re organize the mesh
i would put aqara and "it just works...mostly...some of the time...if you can get it paired..." in the same category
Most of my stuff is aqara. I have some vibration sensors which have worked great. The temperature sensors have been flawless
And a ton of the original motion sensors and 1 or 2 P1s
my biggest gripe about the temp sensors is they refuse to update too soon if theres no a significant change
Which had range issues, but I don't know if that was fixed? I've been relying a lot on mmwave
its fine most of the time but i set up a new automation to measure change in humidity over 5 minutes and when the sensor doesnt update for 30, well...
Why do you need an update if there's no change?
cause this
I mean if the sensor doesn't update then you can just assume there hasn't been a change, no?
actually im wondering now if it batches reports and sends them all in one chunk or if im just seeng some wierd visual thing
thing is, im trying out this new automation that determines whether im showering or not based on change in humidity. it ends up being like a 1% change in humidity over 5 minutes which is...honestly pretty small
so today, the sensor didnt pick it up for like 10 mintues and then "skyrocketed"
Wait when you shower the humidity raises 1%??
for like 99% of things it honestly doesnt matter
and it feels like it reports better than it did when i was using smartthings
Because I just put one in my bathroom and am about to measure the same thing and even if I have the door open while showering the humidity change is huge
nah, change in humidity
is like 1% per 5 minutes
sorry 1% per minute
taken as an average over a 5 minute period lol
That seems really low. Try situating the sensor closer?
the sensor is on the opposite side of my tiny ass apartment
I'm seeing like 15% hike in 30 seconds
but its main purpose is for something else, its moy only temp sensor with humidity in it
whew
The sensor is in the bathroom though.
Yeah man you're gonna get false positives if you're trying to use something that's across the house and looking at such a small change
i mean i take decently long shower and despite it being pretty f ar away the sensor usually jumps 20% by the time im out of the shower
the only other thing that would raise humidity that fast is boiling water tbh
Yeah same, same with my gf too
plus im still testing it, rn its just so that an alarm doesnt go off while im in the shower
The sensors are cheap, I'd just buy another one and put it in your bathroom
@hybrid cloud https://i.imgur.com/xXjl0bN.png
Btw, don't use an automation for that. There's a rate of change sensor you can use. I have another sensor attached to my dishwasher that uses temp rate of change to determine when it's turned on
- platform: statistics
name: Dishwasher temperature 5 min rate of change
entity_id: sensor.dishwasher_environment_temperature
state_characteristic: change
sampling_size: 20
max_age: 00:05
Then I use another sensor with this template to determine when to turn it on:
{{ states('sensor.dishwasher_temperature_5_min_rate_of_change')|float(0) > 0.85 }}
It always runs for the same amount of time and I couldn't see any reliable patterns for temp drop
i think im currently using the derivative helper
i had looked at the statistics integration too, but derivative worked first and i was too lazy to wait
you usehumidity to determine when your dishwasher is on?
er well temp
or youre saying you tried but it didnt work
It works for turning on, but not for turning off. But it runs for the same amount of time so I just have it turn off after a certain amount of time
auto_off:
hours: 3
minutes: 40
delay_off:
hours: 1
template binary sensor
yeah exactly. Conceptually seems great. 120 degree horizontal field of view may be OK but it's a bit tight for some rooms
The delay_off is so when the template isn't true it doesn't turn off
Basically it starts when the temp rises at a high rate and then turns off after 3h 40m
that works. ive got a vibration sensor on mine. it...again, works gret for detecting it but during some cycles theres less cvibration than others, so i have to put a hefty delay on my template sensor so it doesnt consider it done too soon
people gonna start designing their new smart homes with this kind of stuff in mind, mark my words
Yeah temp is really reliable. I have a vibration sensor for my dryer but it's old and vibrates more lol
i like in an apartment complex...next to the laundry machine. i could probably put the sensor on my wall to see when the washer was running lmfao
Is the LQI on Zigbee2mqtt an average of all devices that something is connected to?
I thought it was just the repeater or controller it was connected to. Of which I think there can only be one?
Got my ZBDongle installed. HA discovered it and I ran through the GUI install, it's put itself on channel 11, should I be concerned about that? I guess it's because I have some Ikea bulbs/switches that are still configured to the old Tradfri Hub, which presumably was on channel 15? Should I go round and reset them all, then reset/rediscover the dongle and hope it picks 15?
In the ZHA diagnostics JSON, there is a section called energy_scan. What does it show for your environment? For 11 to be picked over 15, 20, and 25, all of the other channels must be really noisy
hey, i'm looking for an inline dimmer with 1 connection for a light and 2 for physical switches
any reccomendations? those i found only have 1 for a switch
gonna enable logging now
You don't need to enable logging for it
It's the button right above that, "Download diagnostics"

Have you previously used the stick with Zigbee2MQTT?
I have not. It's brand new
Hmm, channel 11 shouldn't've been chosen. If you haven't added any devices, delete and re-add the stick and make sure to select "erase network settings and form a new network".
25 is a much better choice, I wonder why your environment changes enough for this to happen
If you download the diagnostics once more, do the scan results show something similar? They're generated each time the JSON is.
@inner dew I converted your message into a file since it's above 15 lines :+1:
Odd. If you do want to enable debug logging and try it once more, PM me the log. You aren't using multi-PAN firmware with the multiprotocol addon, right? Just the normal Zigbee firmware?
I haven't changed anything yet, so it's whatever the GUI config does by default
(PM'd you :))
ok, all working now. Got the Tradfri On/Off Switch triggering a light group on/off via ZHA. Thanks everyone for advice 🙂
The Light Group isn't Zigbee, which is why I needed this setup in the first place
are you talking about a 3 way switch
is lower number better for this?
yes, the number is how high the occupancy is on that channel, the lower the number, the clearer the channel
Hey! I'm a new user to home assistant and zigbee. I got a conbee II and hooked it up with my devices and it was working great. But last night I did a restart of my VM to do some changes and now ZHA won't connect to my conbeeII. It's giving me an error that says "Error setting up entry for zha" and then another log error that says "Couldn't start deCONZ = dresden elektronik deCONZ protocol: ConBee I/II, RaspBee I/II coordinator (attempt 1 of 3)" and then another one that says "No response to 'Command.read_parameter' command with seq id '0x06'" I've tried searching online and tried updating firmware on conbee, updating virtual box extensions, and moving the conbee far away from any other devices and still no luck. It looks like the VM is seeing the conbee as COM port 3. If I unplug it or try to start it up without it connected the VM gives me an error that it was disconnected. Looks like maybe zha just isn't seeing it. Anybody got any recommendations? Thank you in advance! 🙂
The first thing I'd try is to make sure you're still giving the VM access to the usb port. (I gave up running a docker version of HA due to the difficulty of getting my usb device into the container and just dumped the HA OS on a raspberry pi 3 that I had sitting in a drawer because of issues with getting usb devices into virtualized environments)
Would that just be through enabling it in the vm? Or somewhere within windows?
Thought I have, I'm currently passing it in through the serial port per this: https://community.home-assistant.io/t/configuring-conbee2-with-windows-virtualbox-hass/361737. But underneath the comment talks about a filter. Should I be passing it through as a usb device instead?
So it's definitely passing through. I uninstalled ZHA and then reinstalled it and it found the conbee II and resynced all my devices and controlled them. However, I did a restart just to make sure everything was good and then the same errors popped back up. Seems like ZHA just doesn't like to stay connected?
Resolved it, looks like I had deconz running in the background and it was intercepting the signal. Just an update for anyone that might have had the same issue
I have several Philips hue bulbs (no bridge, using HA OS with Sky connect hub) but HA doesn't seem to be able to control the RGB side just dimming on and off. what am i missing?
Maybe expand a bit on what "doesn't seem to be able to control" means? The button is grayed out? You can't find the interface for it? It has an error message? The device ignores the command?
i just get a slider for the dimmer but no color options
Sorry if this is too dumb of a question, but you're certain you bought a bulb that has RGB right? They don't all.
In devtools, what does it say for the light entity under supported_color_modes ?
i think i just rekt my zigbee network
i went into hardware and enabled multiprotocol support for my skyconnect device and now my ZHA instance refuses to start. trying to delete and re-add the integration and now it won't choose my skyconnect without erroring out
Enabling multiprotocol flashes special firmware to the SkyConnect. To use it as a "normal" Zigbee adapter, you need to flash it back: https://skyconnect.home-assistant.io/procedures/disable-multiprotocol/. Or with the web flasher: https://skyconnect.home-assistant.io/firmware-update/.
Does anyone have tuya zigbee network only or close to that? I'm thinking about it since it's way cheaper than others
Yeah... it's cheaper for a reason
dont doit
Hello folks. Just a quick question: is it possible to install a conbee usb stick (with zha integration for example) right next to a sonoff zigbee stick (with zigbee2mqtt) or do they interfere? same HA instance (docker). Thanks 🙂
Well, hopefully both are on USB extension cables
Keep some separation and it'll work... generally a bad idea to run multiple meshes, but it'll work
Thank you very much for your quick reply - appreciated. Well then I'll try to use z2m to cover all my needs and only add the ZHA integration (and deconz stick) if really needed 🙂
Anyone running zwavejs2mqtt and/or zigbee2mqtt on docker with debian host?
Recent Debian update removed devices from path /dev/serial/by-id/<human_readable_name> and now I see /dev/serial/by-path/pci-0000:01:1b.0-usb-0:1:1.0 (I'm running docker vm on proxmox) .
I had to use the /dev/ttyACM0 path but am worried during reboot it might switch
Yesterday I've flashed firmware on the sonoff dongle P from 20221226 to what I think is the latest 20230410 after having many NWK table full errors, but now (SRSP - AF - dataRequest after 6000ms)) is appearing and the network is dead and only funtion slowly after a restart
That's the dev firmware, maybe try the latest stable first?
it's probably me but whats the stable version
anyone running zigbee2mqtt with skyconnect have the correct implementation details?
20221226
Can anyone recommend a Zigbee/Z-Wave tilt sensor that reports granular angle and not just up/down? I have an automation for a wall TV mount that keeps my TV above the fireplace but able to come down in front of the fireplace for viewing, but right now I have to just send an IR signal for a period of time and hope it gets the mount all the way up/down. I want to install a sensor and just repeat the up/down command until the tilt is all the way down/up based on angle.
my instance is failing to start
This one is version 20221226 but it's giving (0xc7: NWK_TABLE_FULL)' (expected '(0x00: SUCCESS)')) errors
Maybe you too have a faulty Sonoff dongle
Logs?
and my serial is set as the following
port: /dev/ttyUSB1
adapter: ezsp
That looks, other than the fact that you're not using /dev/serial/by-id/..., ok
if i have my dongle enabled with multiprotocol will that stuff some things up?
Yes
You need to be running the multiprotocol add-on and point Z2M at the IP and port
ah, how would i find the ip and port?
i went to terminal and did ls -l /dev/serial/by-id but that only gives me the physical location
Well, point the add-on at the stick
right so keep /dev/ttyUSB1
Not for Z2M
The add-on settings I'd guess tell you what you need for Z2M/ZHA
Stick <- USB -> add-on <-- network --> Z2M
alright you lost me now lol
is it better to just disable multiprotocol (if that's even possible?)
Or use a stick Z2M supports fully
oh it doesn't support skyconnect?
You clearly didn't read the Z2M docs
nail -> head
now what confuses me abnout this is they say to add serial:
adapter: ezsp to your configuartion .yaml but then why does z2m have a port configuration as well?
does it matter where i put my commands?
yes
Because ... YAML is YAML, the rules always apply
If you're using the Z2M add-on just fill in the adapter box
okay so i shouldn't be adding commands to configuation.yaml for the z2m addon
only add them to the configuration section of the z2m addon
They're different
yes
Fill in the serial details (e.g. port of your USB coordinator). Format can be found here, but skip the initial serial: indent. e.g.:
right so that's what i did
Except that your stick is in multi-protocol mode
but the other link you sent said not to point the USB device but rather just
adapter: ezsp
If Zigbee2MQTT fails to start, try adding the following to your configuration.yaml
serial:
adapter: ezsp
And you still need the port line
ah so you gotta read between the lines
so we're back to square 0.1
i've got my serial configured as
port: /dev/ttyUSB1
adapter: ezsp
but in this case bc it's multiprotocol i need to add additional information to the port section in order to point towards the "zigbee" side of my dongle
Which is a network address
do you know how i would find that?
It should always be tcp://core-silabs-multiprotocol:9999
so would i just amend my serial configuration to something like
port: /dev/ttyUSB1/tcp://core-silabs-multiprotocol:9999
adapter: ezsp
No, /dev/ttyUSB1 needs to go
oh so just nuke that completely and go
port: tcp://core-silabs-multiprotocol:9999
adapter: ezsp
If you're using multi-PAN then Z2M never will talk to the stick
It only talks to the multiprotocol addon
no if that's the case do i still need ezsp?
yes because it's still talking to that kind of stick reguardless of the fact that it's passing through an addon
ezsp tells Z2M what protocol to speak. You need that.
Well no, Z2M has no concept of stick here, it only sees a TCP server. The addon is the only thing that knows about a serial port and the only thing actually communicating with the stick.
port: tcp://core-silabs-multiprotocol:9999
adapter: ezsp
is my new serial configuration in the addon
still fails to start but now we're getting somewhere
mqtt issue not authorized i think i had previously configured my mqtt with a username and password for another devices using mqtt (genmon)
in the mqtt section of z2m do i just need to add that account?
user:
password:
or does it want like full spelling
username:
password:
ooo okay now it's not unhappy with mqtt
now we're at something else.
failure send network init
Are there any zigbee rgbww bulbs that provide 2550 lumens? I am trying to find a replacement for a 150w equivalent wifi bulb and can't seem to find anything above 1000 lumens
I'm not aware of any rgbww bulbs over 9W/~850Lm
but, would love to know if they exist if you can find one.
I'm looking to get Zigbee on my Raspberry Pi and have seen Conbee II Zigbee-controller. Would that work?
That's ... not the worst choice, or the best
Buy something CC2652 based. This list is a good one, both Tube and Electrolama have been proven to have excellent customer service. The current generation of EZSP sticks (see here for some) are also a good choice for ZHA.
Anything CC2530 or CC2531 based should be avoided - they're old, slow, and only suitable for a dozen or so devices. The Sonoff ZBbridge isn't advised since it uses WiFi (built in interference causing stability/reliability issues), and the HUSBZB-1 uses an older chipset so should be avoided.
Finally, the ConBee range are fine with deCONZ, but experience with ZHA and Zigbee2MQTT appears to be mixed.
If you're going to use ZHA then the SkyConnect, or anything else based on EZSP (and is relatively recent) is a good choice
At the moment I don’t have any zigbee stuff in my home but I want to expand into that field. Is the sky connect better?
First pick ZHA or Zigbee2MQTT
I wonder why
I don’t know what that means.
Limited market since most people are fine with <1000Lm. the market of people wanting >1000Lm and rgb must be very limited otherwise the market would have something for sale.
This isn't the ideal solution by any means, but you can get as much light as you want if you do something with SK6812 + WLED
@stiff surge There are three Zigbee options with Home Assistant (regardless of how you install it). These are:
zha is actively developed as part of Home Assistant Core, using the zigpy stack, the UI also being part of Home Assistant. The EmberZNet based sticks are recommended (though the HUSBZB-1 uses an older chipset), but there are other options including the CC2652 based sticks. There is no list of supported devices, as any standards compliant device should work. Devices that require extra support are listed, and adding unsupported devices is documented.
Zigbee2MQTT is very actively developed and can run in an add-on, in a Docker container, and natively. As of 1.15 has a native UI, and it also uses MQTT for control and configuration. It supports mostly TI based sticks, with the recommended option being the [CC2652 based sticks](#zigbee-archived message). If you want to use an EmberZNet stick see this issue. The known working devices are well documented (which usually includes how to pair them so you don't have to find the manual), and adding unsupported devices is also documented.
deCONZ is relatively stable and mature with its own UI (and Discord server). It can run in an add-on, in a Docker container, or natively. Only the ConBee range of sticks and RaspBee GPIO boards are supported. Known working devices are documented, and how to request support for a new device is documented too (you can't add unsupported devices yourself).
"Pepsi or Coke" kinda thing. Both do the same thing (handle zigbee stuff for HomeAssistant), both have user bases with strong opinions as to which is better.
The answer is ||not deCONZ||
I'm far from an expert but in my experience the consensus opinion seems to favour z2m
Thanks! That makes more sense!
It's mostly about whether you want all your eggs in one basket (ZHA) or not (Zigbee2MQTT)
personally i run zha but that's only because it was the default when i setup HA and now 60 devices deep and dont wanna re-pair them all, otherwise i'd setup z2m
The hardware exists and there's clearly demand ... Perhaps they just haven't figured it out yet. Guess it's time to launch a new smart lighting startup 😐
sure but is there enough demand.
idk, i'd buy one. you'd buy one. that's a start haha. not enough to sustain a new SKU though.
Are zigbee bulbs less popular than wifi bulbs? Honest question.
There's all sorts of high output (>15W) regular e27 led bulbs, but the selection of >9W is significantly less than =<9W
IMO (my opinion based on nothing but a hunch) is yes. Higher barrier to entry (overall). Any jerk can buy a wifi bulb and fart around with it on their smartphone. Zigbee stuff needs a controller which is a higher barrier to entry for normies
The people in this discord represent a small fraction of the "Smart home product" marketplace. I would imagine (again, my opinion, no data to back this up) the average smarthome consumer is using normie shit like Hue, Tuya (/other china brands) and not doing fancy HA/Smartthings/HOmekit/etc stuff
Makes sense to me. Though I always assumed Alexa acted as a Zigbee hub and consumers would prefer the simple zigbee pairing to the much more difficult wifi pairing process
you're not wrong, but you're assuming that (the average) consumer(s) are informed enough to know zigbee is easier than wifi in that regard.
Just look at how many people fall for Tuya's marketing...
hell any marketing. OEM's love talking about interoperability but fail to mention the nighmarish bullshit that is Cloud-Cloud execution
I couldn't imagine having motion and lighting on 2 clouds and then marrying them using smartthings or something.
it'd be like 10sec from IRL motion to IRL lights on.
Anyways, tl;dr the light you want doesn't exist because the people making these lights think they won't sell enough OR they're focusing on other SKUs before getting around to this one.
I'm sure you could sell a couple underwater basket weaving courses... idk if there's sufficient demand to open Underwater Basket Weaving University
I've just added a zigbee device using the ZHA integration. Device is a LED dimmer (1 channel only) but is reported by ZHA as a color dimmer. How can I change the light type of this device (only brightness and no color or colortemp mode)?
Is it a Tuya dimmer? Create an issue here (and make sure to fill out the issue template): https://github.com/zigpy/zha-device-handlers/issues/new/choose
no, device registers as a Sunricher HK-ZD-DIM-A
Ah, likely the same device as: https://github.com/zigpy/zha-device-handlers/blob/dev/zhaquirks/iluminize/dim.py (just a different manufacturer/model)
Create an issue on the zha-device-handlers repo and it should be fixed soon-ish
Thank you!!!!!!
bug report or device support request?
Device Support Request would be better -- doesn't really matter though
Quick question out of confusion since I can't filter though all the chats over the years about this Zigbee:
Can the ConBee ii gateway for Zigbee 3.0 devices?
All I want is a cloudless Thermostat/Hygrometer but now i'm beginning to look at what chips different gateways have xD
I just received my dodgy Zigbee lights from aliexpress. They paired in 1 second vs. inovelli which takes dozens of tries to pair.
Third time's the charm
Ty for the answer, but then I don't get what ZigBee 3.0 is. That's fine tho, the thing I've found is on the list
ZigBee is what the conbee uses to talk to the devices
Kind of like Wi-Fi but for smart home devices
right, a protocol, correct? It was just last time I looked at gateways there wasn't all this talk about 3.0. Can't really find a clean cutoff date for people talking about it to know if I just didn't see it or forgot
Yeah a protocol, ZigBee is really old now though, it's still being used but now there's something called thread which is the successor to zigbee
Oh neat! I'm guessing the ZigBee wild west was a little too wild? :p
I'm guessing that hubs have no prob running both if ya don't need to change out your gear?
thread and zigbee? thread is still its infancy, its not particularly reliable... there are some newer zigbee cordinators that can do zigbee and thread through multipan but all of it is hoenstly pretty experiental right now. im personally letting other people be the guinea pigs, i want my devices to be reliable 😅
Did you get your E1 working right? I can't seem to get any luck, even with the custom quirk
No. Gave up. Will try again later when the batteries run out.
Anyone run into a problem where a Sonoff stick doesnt have the proper manufacturer and device ID written out to it?
so it just shows as a generic silicon labs device in /dev/serial/by-id
bad one:

I don't think they originally did it
so based on age it may not have it.
can dig back through Hedda's issues but I think he prompted them to do it - to allow for auto discovery with usb/zha
if you want to add it (or something else) you can use the cp210x-cfg tool
anyone knows how to use a Moes zigbee remote control in HA?
I can get it registered in zigbee2mqtt but it doesnt seem to work
Hi! Has anyone had contact with such a device? https://pt.aliexpress.com/item/1005005264809268.html
I can't add to the ZHA, it is adopted, but it doesn't appear the entities don't appear
I didn't find any device handler for it
it is a zigbee siren by _TZE200_nlrfgpny, powered by solar energy
Anyone who can help me out with my custom quirk problem? I added it but it is not showing up on the device

Hi all, anyone got any of QBKG04LM configured with your HA via zigbee2mqtt? I've googled for a while now, but can't find anyone who's seemed to have the same issue as me. I used to run hubitat, and was getting temperature readings of them, but since I moved to HA (more than a year already now), it basically can't be detected by HA. Wondering if anyone might have a solution for this? Temperature is not showing on attributes. I've also got the bigger brother of this which is QBKG03LM, and it is showing temperature attribute.
Does anyone know if this is a known limitation?
Ta
I don't have that exact one but I have a different Tuya siren. I only get a switch with ZHA on mine. I have a number of tuya devices that can connect to HA but don't have full functionality. My work around is to use the small WiFi tuya coordinator and then connecting using the Tuya integration
@dreamy finch US $10.09 65%OFF | Tuya Smart Zigbee 3.0 Gateway Hub Bridge Smart Home Timer Schedule Smart Life Remote Control Work With Alexa Google Home
https://a.aliexpress.com/_mMDtvqy this is the coordinator that I use for my tuya devices. I've found that they don't seem to be totally compatible with HA or introduce weird instability
I have some of their CO2 monitors which work great but update every second so my network starts to bog down after a while
hello good people, am trying to change a cluster attribute on zigbee device but write the attribute it does not save. anything am doing wrong
Anyone an idea what i'm doing wrong?
I'm starting up my Zigbee2MQTT LXC. I'm perfectly able to ping the VM from my desktop as well. Starting up Zigbee2MQTT gives me:
Zigbee2MQTT:info 2023-05-04 10:24:41: Connecting to MQTT server at mqtt://192.168.5.210:1883

But i can't reach the frontend of my Zigbee2MQTT on http://ip_address:9442
Hi all, do anyone use Alarmo with keypad?
It's usally port 8099
Yeah i fixed it. I forgot the frontend line in the configuration.yaml
But now i have another issue. Zigbee2mqtt is working fine, but after a single reboot i'm getting the Error: Resource temporarily unavailable Cannot lock port issue
What are peoples favorite US compatible smart smart switch and\or dimmer?
@distant pier I converted your message into a file since it's above 15 lines :+1:
I'm using ZHA. I started on my setup with a rapsberry pi + Sonoff stick, then took a backup and restored on my home assistant yellow. Both show this error.
hi to all i run into an issue todat after updating ha to 2023.5, zigbee is not operational at all
Couldn't start ZNP = Texas Instruments Z-Stack ZNP protocol: CC253x, CC26x2, CC13x2 coordinator
|Error setting up entry ZigBee Gateway for zha
reverting to an older backup solves the issue, updating again the issue apears again
does anyone have any info on that?
You need the manufacturer override code and for some devices that don't check in like aqara devices, you need to force them to check in by tapping the physical pair button on the device
That sounds a lot like what I'm seeing as well. I added ticket https://github.com/home-assistant/core/issues/92505 on github. Hopefully we'll see some feedback soon. (I've tried with both ZNP and EZSP based radios)
@distant pier thank you!!
@coarse radish I converted your message into a file since it's above 15 lines :+1:
any help please
it's a known Debian bug
If you're on Debian (or some Debian based distros) and you've lost /dev/serial/by-id/ then see https://www.reddit.com/r/debian/comments/1331wlr/devserialbyid_suddenly_missing/ - details of the work around are in https://www.reddit.com/r/debian/comments/1331wlr/comment/jihlmvs/

so I read your link, not sure what is the fix
Looks like you need to edit /usr/lib/udev/rules.d/60-serial.rules - see the top reply

seems to be not working
OKay able to fix it thanks for your help
Is it possible to lower the volume of the keypresses on this Keypad? https://www.zigbee2mqtt.io/devices/XHK1-TC.html

Hello. I am currently running my HA on a raspberry pi 4 (8gb).
I believe it is the HA OS I am running.
Using Z2M with a snonoff Dongle-E (on usb extension cord). I have a Conbee II i used before for ZHA, currently not in use.
The Dongle-E is giving me some issues and I might get a Dongle-P or similar recommended adapter instead. Can I still use the Dongle-E as a router or are there any things to i can avoid to improve my experience using the experimental Dongle-E?
What issues?
Losing connection with Hue based devices, I believe I am also losing connection to the dongle itself or if something with Z2M is going awry
Yea, but I’d like to minimize the risk of waking my family when disarming in the early mornings
I am currently running my Hue bulbs over Z2M and also trying to integrate some Ikea Trådfri motion sensors (E1745)
They seem to have connected to a Group i made with 3 Hue bulbs and I am unsure of how to stop them controlling the bulbs outside of Z2M
This seems to be unrelated to the underlying Zigbee network and more a direct connection to the bulbs. Any way I can stop this from happening?
Only happens to a Group of 3 bulbs in the room, not a standalone bulb.
Maybe you set up an automation that you've forgotten about?
I had no use for them yet as I am waiting for some in-wall relays for them to control. The issue is when the light turns off from the motion sensors Z2M still displays the Hue bulb as "on" and no command is sent in the Z2M log
its 3 seperate motion sensors
I am currently looking into if it has something to do with the Hue bulbs having Group ID 0 and the IKEA sensors binding to group 0 by default or similar. I am unable to sent the unbind command from the GUI atleast
Group 0 might explain why it is only those bulbs being affected
Hi all, anyone familiar with SkyConnect debugging? Bought a new usb stick, installed ZHA, but unable to add/discover zigbee devices... had conbee II with phoscon before but I want to start from scratch without importing devices.
is possible to install zigbee2MQTT and start it before u connect dongle?
since frontend: true acts as a problem in config yaml file
this is a required step?
yeah, but I wanna have everything ready before dongle arrives
so you suggest: uninstall zha, reboot, +zigbee2MQTT, +ZHA?
no, im just asking if it's possible... I'm not relating to you question
oops
Are you using the USB extension cable?
yes
same issue as here: https://community.home-assistant.io/t/skyconnect-not-work/546947/9
Can you download diagnostics for the ZHA integration and upload them somewhere (e.g. https://dpaste.org/ )?
Confirmed. Any hue bulb in "group 0" is triggered by the motion sensor directly bypassing zigbee entirely
Does anyone here have a LinkTap water timer gateway?
I finally figured out the pairing issues with my Inovelli switches
So, I have this 18W RGBCW Zigbee Bulb (TS0505B by _TZ3210_r5afgmkl) which seems to be almost the same as this one (https://zigbee.blakadder.com/Avacom_TS0505B.html).
Color temp mode works fine, but when I switch to RGB mode the lights are super dim. Like it's ignoring the White channel completely or something.
It's driving me insane! Does anyone here have experience with this?
using ZHA
what is it exposing it as?
i.e. model

https://github.com/zigpy/zha-device-handlers/issues/1429 might need to do something like this
Hey does anyone use the legacy lightify zigbee system? Mine was working fine up until a few days ago, and now HA can't see it anymore? It still works fine in the Lightify app. Just wondering if an update has broken this?
You can use custom_quirks_path to set the quirks path and then write your own @haughty rover
Ok, thx, I'll try and figure that out 😓
sorry i cant help you any further, i dont have the device and ive only written quirks for z2m 🙂
np!
Inovelli join issues: I have a LinkTap gateway that responds to all Zigbee join requests (even when it's not in join mode) with unsuccessful. This causes Inovelli switch to stop trying to join any Zigbee networks. Both behaviours are broken. Inovelli should fix their stuff and I've already contacted them, and I also contacted LinkTap.
What's the gateway sending? At most it can send a beacon that indicates it's permitting joins, which doesn't leave much for the Inovelli switch to do differently.
im not an expert, but it looks like its just responding to any join request with unsuccessufl 😄
and its not picked up by zigpy, zigpy doesnt think tis in Join mode when I do the scan with zigpy ..
Hey all, i've got a samsung zigbee white bulb model LEEDARSON- Dimmable Bulb_ 8ZA-A806ST-Q4R that i don't seem to be able to get back into pairing mode
its not in smartthings anymore (its the last device i need to re-pair) and i had 13 other of the same bulbs that re-paired just fine
the docs say on/off at .5-2 second intervals 6 times, and that isn't doing it. i've also tried 10 times, longer/shorter times etc.'
the behavior i'm seeing is different than the other bulbs though, the other ones have more delay on startup after powering on, this one is on nearly instantaneously with a slight flicker when it comes on
it worked in smartthings prior to trying to re-pair it to HA
How should I bind Tradfri remote directly to a group of lights in zha (I knew how to do this with z2m). I made a group "Manage Zigbee device" but I can only add lights to it.
Found this instruction:
*You can bind a Tradfri remote directly to a Zigbee light group on Home Assistant ZHA integration by following these steps:
- Create a group of the light(s) you want to control.
- Go into the remote settings for the remote you want to bind to the light.
- Click “Manage Clusters” and go to the bottom section: “Group Binding”.
- Ignore what is above this section.
- Press the button on the remote that you want to bind to the group.
- Click “Bind” in the “Group Binding” section.
- This should bind your Tradfri remote directly to your Zigbee light group*
But I can see no "Manage Clusters" selection anywhere.
It seems that I can only add and bind routers to a zha group, not end devices
Ah seems, that it just does not work with zha reliably -> back to zigbee2mqtt (https://community.home-assistant.io/t/ikea-tradfri-5-button-zigbee-remotes-missing-event-triggers-latest-v24-4-5-firmware-yellow-sillabs-coordinator-zha/530909)
did you go into device info for the remote?
I look at that but there was nothing I found interesting, why?
3 dots -> manage zigbee device -> bindings
yeah, tried that but does not show remotes on that list, only routers (bulbs) and the coordinator

yes

so thats which cluster of the device you want to bind to whatever device you selected drop the dropdown
I can only bind routers (bulbs) remotes are not shown there

whether to select all or specific clusters on your remote, i do not know, but thats how you do it
well, thanks. however does not work just keeps spinning the blue wait wheel.
I will go back to z2m there it works easily
odd. now it works somehow and still the spinning circle keeps on spinning
thanks a lot
Hey all, i've got a samsung zigbee white bulb model LEEDARSON- Dimmable Bulb_ 8ZA-A806ST-Q4R that i don't seem to be able to get back into pairing mode
its not in smartthings anymore (its the last device i need to re-pair) and i had 13 other of the same bulbs that re-paired just fine
the docs say on/off at .5-2 second intervals 6 times, and that isn't doing it. i've also tried 10 times, longer/shorter times etc.'
the behavior i'm seeing is different than the other bulbs though, the other ones have more delay on startup after powering on, this one is on nearly instantaneously with a slight flicker when it comes on. it worked in smartthings prior to trying to re-pair it to HA
migrated from z2m yesterday to zha because I didn't pay attention on a purchase and got some aqara sensors that aren't compatible with z2m...... wooh buddy, don't suppose there's a clever trick to setting entity IDs to non-garbage when you rename incoming entities?
guess it doesn't matter, I learned now and I'll just deal with the dog shit ids for now and I will just be sure to actually set entity ID when I discover new entities moving forward
i'm guessing you could always forget the device and re-pair, but i'm not that familiar.
you like the aqara? thinking about getting one
I liked the price and availability of the sensors, I'm not completely sure I'm hooked on ZHA though, z2m management interface was nice, kinda wish I had a second radio and could just use both
everything i've got is ZHA already so that wouldn't be too big of a deal. i've got 2 of the skyconnect devices, been considering using the 2nd for matter/thread as the multiprotocol thing didn't work well
mmhm, the aqara sensors are fairly well received in this community I think, so if they have something that's in your shopping list, they're worth considering, for sure
it sounds like this issue is with the bulb itself, have you looked online (not home assistant specific, just the bulb on any platform) to see if anyone else has had this behavior
@hybrid cloud not that i'm finding, but thats kinda where my head was going. its behaving differently than the rest of the other devices that are the same
its old enough i'm sure there's no warranty period left
aqara sensors are good value for what they are, but theyre not great devices. i use them cause im cheap, but i'd probably use other sensors if i werent lol
with other bulbs when i have this issue, i leave the device powered completely off, not recieving power from anything at all, and then try agian after a bit
fair, I don't have enough experience to "review" other sensors, just go by what I read, I don't doubt that there is better when you look at the price comparisons
@hybrid cloud had it off for a day or so, no change
Aren't there some bulbs that will reset if turned off/on a certain number of times in a period of time? Feel like I've read that before somewhere also
yeah they do what theyre supposed to most of the time, just wanna set the record straight that they arent any kind of high bar or anything
they were inexpensive so not a big deal, only issue is its in a room where i have like 14 of them and i don't want 1 bulb thats different....
@viral cipher this is supposed to do that, but its behavior is different than the other bulbs of its type i have
so i'm pretty sure something is broke in it
also, holy crap do i have more devices than i thought now that i have them all in one system
15 zwave and 67 zigbee
hehe, it adds up quick
eh i had an aqara sensor break like this (i think. i ended up breaking the negative contact for the battery so i cant test it anymore lmao)
67 is insane, ive only got 20 or so
does anyone know how many child devices the skyconnect supports? i cant find anything about it
https://community.home-assistant.io/t/how-many-devices-possible-to-pair/288477/3 this says one thing has a limit of 512
pretty sure this is a coordinator thing. probably some combination of firmware and hardware, but its different for different coordinators
bruh lmao
this is mine, i only have 2 router devices
most of my lights are sengled and theyre end devices for some reason
@austere patio further to that, I got a response from LinkTap telling me that Inovelli should fix their switches:
"As shown below, after a Beacon Request is received by LinkTap Gateway, it sends a response with a unique EPID to the sender. What the sender should do first is filter out foreign messages based on the EPID (our water timer has implemented this function). Otherwise, a Zigbee end device might mistakenly join a foreign Zigbee Gateway.
According to the screenshot below, your Zigbee device didn't implement that function. Therefore it sent an "Association Request" to the LinkTap Gateway, which certainly sent back an "Unsuccessful" response."
if you are curious, sengled does not repeat because they believe that smart bulbs can be turned off/on with normal switches. If they were part of the mesh, they would frequently destroy the mesh if they were turned off. Therefore, they do not repeat.
interesting logic behind this tho
i honestly agree with that
my parents visit and ya, they use the switches in the rooms
its part of why for the most part, i use smart switches anymore where i can, sadly i don't have neutrals everywhere
this is why you need the lights to turn on before the can ever find where the switches are 😂
makes sense, switches are definitely more family proof
@hybrid cloud starting to get there, i'm loving now that i've moved fully to HA only that i can use my unifi protect cameras as motion sensors and do things with my lights
ive thought about getting switch covers, but i live a lone so i honestly just ignore the lights
but some of that is why i'm interested in the aqara mmwave sensors
how do they do that behaviour? do they say they are EndDevices instead of routers?
they are end devices, not routers, yeah
biggest problem with mmwave is that it needs to be paired with another sensor for reliable triggering. i have a tuya mmwave in my bedroom and pair that with a door sensor. when the door is already open it takes like, not a long time but just, unnaturally long, imo
when i started with smart stuff, it was the delay that really threw me off. i started with smartthings when it was all cloudbased,a nd i had to just start trusting the lights would turn on cause the delay was so long lmao. now that everything is local, delay is not long at all, but there is still a delay with some devices and it makes me wonder how someone who is use to the instantaneous response of a physical switch would react to a switch taking longer than expected to turn on
so, i've actually got a couple of zwave switches that even using the switch can be delayed if the lights are dimmed
like, up to a second or 2 it feels like
i dont know if its like this with most zigbee lights but the sengled ones take a hot second to establish initial connection if they havent been talked to in a while, probably betwen 250 to 500ms if i had to guess
vs my light in my bedroom is running through tuya local, paired with the door sensor it seems to send the trigger to ha near instantly and then the tuya bulb turns on before ive even got the door 3 inches opn
soujnds like its being dropped by its parents ..
ill have to double check the logs, but i dont remember ever seeing anything about failed attempts to reach those lights (pretty sure that shows up with debug off)
Is there a best zigbee/zwave USB device for Home Assistant on Rpi4? Or at least which are the ones you should stay away from
Buy something CC2652 based.
CC2652P has the best compatibility between ZHA and Z2M.
"Foreign" in that context sounds like "not our brand", which doesn't work for products that aren't locked down. But if Inovelli isn't handling a join failure, that's a problem. Your other gateway permanently permitting joins is also a problem. What happens if you stick it under a metal pot or something when you try to join an Inovelli device?
Incidentally, I had a similar issue with my Rainforest Eagle energy monitor that connects to my power meter over Zigbee. I could not get one Inovelli Blue switch to pair or even factory reset properly until I unplugged the Rainforest box
I haven't collected a pcap for it, but it's possible that it's also trying to allow meters to join, even though it already has one connected
I haven't had that issue with any other zigbee device, and easier joining/pairing is one of the things I really like about zigbee vs zwave
Hi @austere patio, here it is https://dpaste.org/9aS3m thanks
This is the debug log. There is also a diagnostics button right by that, it has different information.
@molten linden ESPhome says Update Available for your POE coordinator, but I've been having a bit of strange behavior overall with HA and zigbee with the latest HA update (had to roll back the update), so want to be sure before I update the coordinator - does it sound right to you that a new update would be available/
That just means there is a new esphome version. Safe to ignore those as I am not able to regularly test every version so stick to one well tested one for long lengths of time
okay
I only noticed it because i have an entity, binary_sensor.tubeszb_serial_connected, that started showing "unvailable"
but zigbee in general all seems to be functioning fine, I think
Can't really seem to figure this out. I've been looking into the Conbee II to finally throw out my smartthings hub and rid myself of being dependent on the cloud to control lights. I have a variety of different devices, and plan to add more dimmers, switches, outlets and thermostats. Fibaro seems to be a candidate, but it's not on the list of supported devices for conbee. However I do find references to people interested in using the Conbee with fibaro devices. Is it possible? I would kinda image that devices can implement a generic interface for their type (e.g. a switch has on/off), which could be triggered by any hub/server. Am I way off?
I unplugged the LinkTap and the Inovelli switches join just fine.
TBH, they're BOTH at fault. Inovelli is trying to join a network that shouldnt be permanently in Permit Join mode, but the LinkTap is also not handing out a network ID.. so I dont know why the Inovelli is trying to join it.
Also, the weird thing when I replicate the issue: I see the Inovelli trying to join BOTH networks at the same time (the linktap, and my real one.)
Inovelli | @fair mountain | LinkTap
What do you mean by "but the LinkTap is also not handing out a network ID"? It's 0xC187 / 6b:6e:69:6c:2d:70:61:54 in the capture you posted.
please correct me if im wrong, whcih I probably am: but I thought the beacon is sent from the coordinator in response to a beacon request, and then the coordinator assigns a network ID for the device ..
okay I am wrong 🙂
It responds with one after it allows the device to associate. If the association fails, it never gets that far.
so IMO the LinkTap shouldnt be in permanent Permit Join, which is probably causing a ton of my other Zigbee issues
and secondly
the Inovelli should continue to try to join a network after a failure ..
I've unplugged the LinkTap for now. But it handles my irrigation 😦
I bought the LinkTap specifically because it supports HomeAssistant, sigh.
I want to see if unplugging the LinkTap fixes the other Zigbee issues I've been having (dropped commands, child routes just not working ..)
You mentioned earlier that the zigpy-znp network scan did not pick up the LinkTap network as permitting joins: all it does is parse roughly the same beacons that you see in Wireshark. Did you manually set the channel to that of the LinkTap network and enable -a mode to not filter results?
A properly behaving Zigbee device shouldn't try to join another random network, but ..
I take that back, I left a scan running overnight and I see the LinkTap constantly going between PermitJoin and not. I just missed it:
from: 0x0000 is the only interesting one, those always have PermitJoins=1. Why are devices belonging to this EPID active on channels 15, 16, 20, 21, and 26?
Is this manufacturer using a fixed EPID for all of their networks, but just changing the PAN ID??
good question.
They are, the EPID is just Tap-link ("\x6b\x6e\x69\x6c\x2d\x70\x61\x54"[::-1])
i was confused by that. this is the first time I've debugged zigbee network isseus (but I have a network/system engineering background.)
You've picked the wrong one to start with, this is a really bizarre system
Their response isnt encouraging, but with @tropic depot's help I responded ..
If you look at the Beacon sent by the LinkTap, you can see that "Association Permit" is set to True.
The LinkTap should not be sending out this beacons all the time. Full stop.
Devices (re)-join Zigbee networks all the time. Sending a Beacon for every Join request means that ANY zigbee device is going to try to join the LinkTap.

It sounds as if the support person you're speaking to expects all Zigbee networks to behave similarly, where each manufacturer has a fixed EPID and their devices only join networks with the same EPID. This shouldn't be a problem though, Inovelli's switch should be able to handle denied associations and just keep searching.
Agreed to both your points.
At the same time: LinkTap should fix their bug, and Inovelli should also fix their bug.
Or you just put a metal pot over the LinkTap gateway and call it a day 😄
then I cant use it for my water timers
Well, only when joining new devices to your network
I only bought he LinkTap because of the MQTT/HomeAssistant support
no the LinkTap wter timers wilkl only work with the LinkTap gateway
otherwise id have them on the rest of my zigbee mesh
which has significantly better connectivity
like. I have zigbee lights outside next to the water timer. if the water timer was supported by z2m or zha I'd just use it directly and get rid of the gateway.
You probably could figure out their protocol if you capture one joining the gateway's network. It seems like they only join networks with that exact EPID though, so you won't be able to get them to join your current one without rebuilding from scratch.
wonder if the key is static lol
i can setup another zigbee coordinator on that EPID ..
looks at the 8 coordinators sitting in front of him
I still think Inovelli should fix their devices. If it's happening with new joins, I wonder what happens when the network is rebalanced and there are joins .. This may explain commands being dropped
(also if this was my neighbour .. yeesh.)
I added a ZB-GW03 ethernet gateway and that seems fine -- I can read all the network info -- but when I go to add a new device it wont find any
What do you mean by that?
ZHa does not find any device
I'm using the yellow device with builtin zigbee device.. there are some hue lights that always go back to 100% brightness, even though start-up behavior is set to PreviousValue. Any ideas?
StartupBehaviour is relating to when the device loses power.
Yeah thats what happens. These are on a physical light switch:)
should i update the sonoff zigbee dongle to be able to use zigbee2mqtt and does it still work as a cordinator after that
which model dongle do you have?
Sonoff ZBDongle-E
we need to use the zigbee devices with mqtt
?
what does that mean?
you should use the right tool for the job
that dongle works fine with ZHA
i have mqtt devices i want to control zigbee plugs with
that doesn't make any sense
what do you mean i have a mqtt motion sensor that needs to control zigbee plugs to turn them on
you have a motion sensor that communicates over Wifi to an MQTT broker?
no its connected to a arduino the motion sensor and that uses mqtt
you would be better served using an HA automation to monitor the topic used by the motion sensor to detect motion and then control the plug that way
anyway, point is that that Zigbee dongle isn't stable with Zigbee2MQTT
How would I apply this config to ZHA and get the device to work? https://github.com/Koenkk/zigbee2mqtt/issues/17436
i have the ZBDongle-E and im trying to confiqure it and it says failed to probe usb device
How do I insert an external converter in zigbee2mqtt?
dont use z2m with EMG dongle. it crashes, a lot.
@austere patio LinkTap won't change the behaviour of their gateway. :/
okay im haveing a issue I can't configure the zigbee in home assistant it fails to probe the device
I can't get it to work, I put in the custom config: https://github.com/Koenkk/zigbee2mqtt/issues/17436
... but it still doesn't "expose" anything
Good Morning team from Grecce...How i can control my zigbee (Sonoff) devices without internet? I Have HA server the Sonoff devices (WIFI,ZIGBEE) connected from eWeLink to control them....The ZIgbee devices connected to WIfi Bridge...i see different tutorials but im little confused because im newbie in this section
sorry, this is the diagnostics log: https://dpaste.org/RSc0p
does anyone know of any sensors that monitor ammonia concenraton
Do IKEA signal repeaters works for anyone with sonof zigbee 3.0? Mine keeps loosing connectivity.
I use z2mqtt : randomly the add-on stops working and requires a restart. But when it comes back up it's forgotten all of my added devices and they need to be added again.
Any suggestions?
Oddly though, the add-on survives normal restarts without losing the devices.
-E or -P? I have problems with the -E dropping things
I have the ikea blinds and every so often, they seem to lose connectivity and reconnect later on. However, during that phase, it seems a bunch of actions get queued up and once it reconnects, it gets stuck going up and down every few seconds. Using zigbee2mqtt. Normally, I just force remove the device, reset it, and add it back.
Is there a way to just clear whatever the queue is?
This seems like a common theme with z2m (queuing of commands that seem to be stored indefiently.) I would also like to know.
does anyone have thirdreality zigbee smart plugs if so I need help with them i want to make them turn on after power goes out and than its restored
I need some guidance. I have some aqua sensor, I have been using sky connect. But I have order a sonoff stick instead. I have problem that my devices is getting offline. And my guess is to far distance of them. So I need to buy something to get more cover. I have some sonoff tx if it make any difference.
It actually CC2652P. any ideas how keep the repeater connected?
Wondering if I could get some feedback. My inovelli blues keep dropping off the network (1-2 /day). They report back status (on/off) if there are changes but I can't update or send anything to them. What could be wrong? I've done all the usual, no overlapping wifi, on a POE CC652 coordinator from TubeZB
I have to manually pull the air gap to reset and then they reconnect. I've also tried to have them join other switches via inclusion but it hasn't made a difference
I'm just confused as to how their status would be able to be read but that they wouldn't be able to received messages
I have a Tuya device that does the OTA update, but fails at the end with INVALID_IMAGE. Is there any way to disable OTA updates for that specific device only?
any zigbee smart plugs that you guys recommend that have power monitoring and switch function and turn on when power is lost in zigbee2mqtt
heres a list of ones supported by z2m https://www.zigbee2mqtt.io/supported-devices/#e=power_outage_memory,power
the plugs I have work but they only have the option to turn on after power failure if I use zha if I use z2m it's not there
Does anyone know how to group zigbee lamps?
In ZHA, or Zigbee2MQTT, or deCONZ?
The documentation https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/zha says there is support for grouping of lights
in ZHA
but it does not say how you can group them
Can you send pictures on discord btw?
that makes it easier to explain
in zha it has the option to make the plugs turn on when they are plugged in. z2m that option is not in the exposes
I wasn't responding to you
However... you can always develop the required support in Z2M and submit a PR
you can just use an automation to do it
but all those plugs i linked have the power outage memory feture exposed
Hi everyone, I'm just getting started in my home assistant journey and I could use some help. The server room of the apartment building I live in has two one foot thick concrete walls between me and the room, but I did run ethernet to my complex. Is there like a POE zigbee dongle that people recommend?
https://www.zigbee2mqtt.io/guide/adapters/#recommended has options, including ones by Tube
Thank you. Looking at Tube's site, which Ethernet option should I go with? Don't mind spending a few extra shekels for something nicer. The devices I'm getting are upgradable to matter
Little lost in choosing the one to get 😅
Depends on what you're going to use - ZHA or Z2M
If Z2M then something CC2652 based, otherwise either
Hi all I’ve been trying to solve A problem with my skyconnect for the past 15 hours straight and it’s driving me nuts.
I migrated over to the skyconnect a few weeks ago and it's been running just fine but for some reason today I got this error.
I did upgrade to 2023.5.2 from 2023.5.0 yesterday but I can't recall if that problem started immediately after that.
Here’s what I’ve done so far
- Reloading the configuration
- Restart HA
- unplugging and replugging in the skyconnect then restart HA
- trying skyconnect in alternate USB port then restart HA
- removing the Bluetooth range extender (sena, HA approved list) then restart HA
- navigated to official skyconnect flash page and reflashed skyconnect to zigbee only
- Repeat 1 - 5
Still can’t get it to set up. Any thoughts or suggestions?
idk about now, but if you were running multipan before i would have suggested restarting the multipan add on
What could cause ZHA to poll the current state of a light?
I've been trying to track down network busy / failed to retrive attribute issues with my network. I see lots of [homeassistant.components.zha.entity] light.: polling current state
At first I thought it was Adaptive Lighting, but a lot of the lights being polled don't have Adaptive Lighting setup for them
Is it normal for Hue bulbs to not respond when they are off? (not powered off, in off state)
hrm no. some of the failed to get attributes are from devices in 'on' state.
Random 45 to 75 minute interval or 3 to 5 minutes for Hue lights (could be optimized for newer Hue lights).
Changing a ZHA group also stills polls all members (even when using assumed state).
No, but really old Hue lights (TI chip instead of ATmel or Silabs) sometimes cause issues in my experience
how can i monitor to see how many zigbee plugs are on
With #templates-archived most likely - a template sensor could do that
What kind of issues?
Because I have original Hue lights from 2012.
Hi i just I'm new on this Discord and pretty new to homeassistant, I discovered it because I was googling for an answer, I know I'm special that way. Anyway My doorlock (ID Lock 150) has a service mode where it generates a random pincode for either 1time or 24hr use, when I generate the pincode, I can read it if I go to my lock in zigbee2mqtt, and check the "State" tab. I have not however succeeded to add this so it will show on a card on my dashboard, hope my explanation was good. Can anyone help?
They sometimes tend to become unresponsive to unicast messages whilst still reacting to broadcasts.
It seems like this doesn’t happen when using the Hue Bridge though
If you go to developer tools, find your lock entity, does it have this pincode anywhere, like in the attributes section?
Or check and see if the MQTT integration has created any extra sensor entities that might have it.
There is no entity that states this code anywhere, ive scrolled through a 2nd time now since you asked, but also checked it before, and no new entities. there is an entity that is named pincode, but it just states "none"
I did a seach for the pincode it just generated in the "states" tab on developer tools and it did not find anything.
I guess z2m is not really exposing this to HA. You might be able to make an MQTT sensor that can find it, but that would be the first step to getting it into HA somehow. Or you can file an issue with zigbee2mqtt and see if they can figure out how to expose it.
When I go to the lock in zigbee2mqtt I have a "expose_pin Flase/true" slider, ive set this to true ofcourse. But im totally lost on how to make a sensor.
You can read up here how to make a sensor from a MQTT topic: https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/sensor.mqtt/
If you need more help, maybe #integrations-archived could help with MQTT sensors.
I will do some reading. Thank you for replying 🙂
Hrm that would explain some of the lights, I wonder if this extends to it relaying as part of the mesh?
I have Hue lights on both TI and EMG
Wow these are LCT001
and i have up to LCT016
Is anyone else experiencing the following issue with ZHA?
I have several different IKEA Tradfri light bulbs and have bound multiple Tradfri 2-button and 4-button remotes to those bulbs. I also bound some of them to groups of two bulbs.
Yesterday everything was working fine, but today while I still can control the bulbs using the remotes, the state of the light entities does not get updated in HA. I enabled auto OTA updates for IKEA devices, so perhaps a firmware update has caused this behaviour.
Power cycle the bulbs. Do they start working again?
I pulled the LCT001 bulbs and replaced them with LTA008
Is there a list of known bad Hue bulbs?
I have a bunch of OG Hue blooms which I also suspect are probably an issue
No, I tried with a group and a single bulb and they still don't show the updated state after controlling them with the remote.
I mean physically power cycle it, at the switch. Like turn power off for 10s then turn it back on.
Yes, I just did that. Sorry if I wasn't clear.
Okay, I can try again for 10s/until they show as unavailable.
Unavailable will take a long while, a few seconds is fine. If that makes no difference, click the "Reconfigure" button on the bulb and see if that helps. The bulbs should report when anything changes, even if the change is done with a remote.
I tried power off for ~10s and reconfigure. Reconfigure shows everything as working, but I still have the same issue.
I can control the light using HA, but with the remote it does not update.
Oh, I only reconfigured one of the groups bulbs but looked at the group entity to see if it updates, I will try again with a single bulb.
Are you able to reliably control the devices from within HA?
Hi,
I was wondering if the wall switch module from philips can be set easiliy with the skyconnect usb and zha: https://www.philips-hue.com/en-gb/p/hue-philips-hue-wall-switch-module/8719514318045
is it for example possible to dim lights when using it via ZHA in home assistant?
Yup, and I just tried reconfigure on a single bulb and it worked. Will do that for all my bulbs now, seems to be fixed. Thank you! 🍀
@mellow geode I remember you mentioning you had problems with Hue light strips too, was that LST001 ?
yes. buT I would recommend buying a smart light switch instead. those things run on battery and its annoying/difficult to try to jam all that stuff in a box
If the lights can be dimmed, then yes - that's just a button though
yeah i know but i already have philips hue lights which i also want to control via light switch
but i was wondering if long press etc can also dim the philips hue lights
its not a light switch, its a relay of sorts
did you look at the link he sent?
Certainly in Z2M it supports many actions, so it should work
thanks At Tinkerer
is there somewhere an example of dimming lights with long press?
That'd be handled by an #automations-archived or a #blueprints-archived for one
Not with Hue light strips. I only have the newer Silabs Hue ones and they all work perfectly
Not really. It might even depend on the coordinator or other devices in the Mesh that cause problems (possibly 2.x. IKEA firmware).
Depending on the image type / firmware url, you might be able to tell if it uses a TI chip or not.
What model #?
Uh, not sure. They’re not on my main network atm
okay 🙂
I removed my Blooms from the network too
early days but it looks like failures have decreased
Likely LCL001 or LCL006 according to what’s online
Ah, it’s one of the older ones, right?
Like just RGB? No CCT?
2013
weird my light strips are LST002
Yeah, the naming is more or less random.
https://zigbee.blakadder.com/Philips_LLC012.html I think they are just RGB?
Yep, I also have one of those (not using it though). It caused issues and didn’t react sometimes
oh yeah iive had those issues
(The newer Blooms (black/white) with Bluetooth and RGB-CCT are fine though)
2 of them actually wouldnt remove from the network 😄
1 failed to pair with a different network
that should have been a clue
Issues with both TI and Silabs coordinator (or only tested one of them)?
ive had issues on both
Hmm
I migrated my CC2562P network to EMG (ZHA)
and half of them were on EMG and the other half were on CC2562P
My hue Sensors do NOT like EMG, though.
full stop.
they start dropping off
right now I have 1 EMG network on ZHA and 3 CC2562P on Z2m
I’m guessing the older ATmel SML001/SML002 ones or the newer Silabs ones (SML003/SML004)?
both SML001 and SML003 were both dropping off until I moved them back to a TI
ive got a bunch of problems going on so its making it really hard to figure out anything
Did you try removing them and re-pairing them with Silabs?
yes
many times
I did figure out the major one: LinkTap in permit join permanently, and Innovelli switches do not handle a reject join properly
I’ve sometimes had issues after a network migration. There was a point where I re-joined all routers
Why do they permit joins permanently lol
uh. I have no appropriate answer here 🙂
The device is unplugged now.
But that did not solve my INovelli routing / dropped commands issue, so I am now looking into other things.
(as in, Id probably get banned for providing my opinion)
their email when they responded to me going "what are you doing" started with "We have had these devices on the market for 6 years"
that doesnt excuse Inovelli not handling failed pairings properly, but yeah ..
I have a Hue bridge and am looking to add either zigbee or z-wave. Would I be likely to experience an issue with zigbee and the hue setup?
hue hub is a black box
You may get interference issues if you happen to pick the same Zigbee channel your Hue hub uses
The great thing is that you can ditch the hub 😉
Do most people go z-wave if they have a Hue hub?
no
True haha
i ditched my 3 hue hubs and just use ZHA/z2m
I've been slow to do that because I was unsure of the reliability of my laptop running HA. But I bought a usff PC and I'm all in on HA now.
theres some benefits to the hue hub, you cant use the no-battery switches with ZHA (but you can with z2m, IIRC)
and things like hue sync box ..
I think I would lose my alarm light sunrise from Sleep as Android
yes, but you could probably implement that wtih HA
Would I lose control of those lights from Google Home?
you can link HA with Google Home
And the devices get added as individual lights?
if you pay for it via HA cloud or setup an SSL certificate and such
you can make zigbee light groups
I have HA cloud. Great service.
google home is kinda useless these days 😄
But my spouse isn't on the HA train so she uses Google to control lights
can barely set timers half of the time
I have an emotional tie to zigbee. I worked on a zigbee project for Eaton and Philips to switch on devices back in 2006.
So I'd prefer to use it over z-wave
Do Aqara sensors require an Aqara hub or any will any zigbee hub work?
What's your favorite sensor brand?
I really like the Samsung smartthings, now aeotec, leak sensors
I added the Hue Dimmer switch remote and looking at the visualization its not connected to anything even though i have installed on my sonoff zha. How can i connect to the network? https://imgur.com/a/fGaIKg1
The map is only updated every few hours
do I need a aqara hub for there motion sensors I have the sonoff dongle e
Should work fine with that dongle if you’re using ZHA or Zigbee2MQTT
Anyone ever seen 2023-05-07 19:42:31.689 DEBUG (MainThread) [zigpy.quirks.registry] Fail because endpoint list mismatch: {1, 2} {1, 2, 242} 2023-05-07 19:42:31.689 DEBUG (MainThread) [zigpy.quirks.registry] Fail because endpoint list mismatch: {1, 2} {1, 2, 242} 2023-05-07 19:42:31.689 DEBUG (MainThread) [zigpy.quirks.registry] Fail because endpoint list mismatch: {1, 2} {1, 2, 242} 2023-05-07 19:42:31.690 DEBUG (MainThread) [zigpy.quirks.registry] Fail because input cluster mismatch on at least one endpoint?
This is re-adding a switch I have previously had on this ZHA instance, but the switch fails to pair properly now
and I dont see things like firmware version and such
And it keeps re-joining the network
I threw up a little when I read this
What are your favorites?
Whatever is cheapest, is what I usually get. Actually I really enjoy aqara for the door sensors, I've had great reliability with those. I have some sengled and ikea lights, the sengled ones are not amazing but they're fairly reliable. Ikea seems like a better choice though honestly for that price point. Only thing I haven't been able to find something good of without going all out on Price is motion sensors.. all of them seem to have one issue or another
Is it recommended to attach the zigbee hub to the HA device or have it be separated?
Honestly the farther away from the machine running home assistant, the better
That interference is nasty
I'm looking for a cheap zigbee hub. Looking at sonoff, Aqara, or anything else that you recommend
I used to have the sonoff p and that one works fairly well most of the time but I did actually run into some pretty frustrating issues sometimes. I'm using the sky connect now and I really haven't had any major issues. I'm running multi-pan and sometimes the add-on doesn't always start right but multi-pan is experimental and you can stay just to ZigBee only
There's a list of supported hubs in the pins. What you want is going to be different though if you go z2m verse zha
Sonoff hub and a few Aqara sensors. Should it work with zha? I haven't gotten into the zha/z2m world and don't know anything about those options.
define 'hub'
SONOFF Zigbee 3.0 USB Dongle Plus-E Gateway
I'm new to a lot of this so I know I sound like an idiot
Zha require reload to work properly.
I have few devuced that stop responding until I reload ZHA
I have ezsp
This is completely normal and is kept under the DEBUG log level for a reason: this is debug output explaining why individual quirks don't match. This will happen for every single device.
I get this message in the log

It not for all devices
I have a SONOFF Zigbee 3.0 USB Dongle Plus-E with the recomended Coordinator firmware. Im running ZHA. My Philips Hue Motion Sensors first gen indordne “3 pcs” keep dropping and have to be repaired to the system. All IKEA bulbs 74 pcs and IKEA battery on/off endpoints are stable. Does anyone have a fix/workaround?
Does a reset and back up help
Coming from #general-archived #general-archived message
How do I change the zigbee channel in ZHA with a skyconnect in multiprotocol mode to match OTBR?
I'm getting a warning:
OTBR and ZHA share the same radio but use different channels
The link in the FAQ is broken, but the next link below helped me. Thanks
This part is normal. It’s just checking which quirks could match
… and puddly already answered
So for some reason this morning all my ZHA devices are unavailable?
I rebooted the Tube zb_gw_cc2652p2_poe, the webUI is online and there's nothing showing wrong in it's logs.
I've rebooted the entire HA VM, as well as the HA services, and it is able to connect to the ZHA Gateway, and isn't showing any log errors, but all of the Zigbee devices that are attached to that gateway are "unavailable"
I've updated HA to the latest version as of this morning as well.
for the web UI does it show serial is connected?
[D][streamserver:050]: Client 172.16.8.22 disconnected [D][streamserver:085]: New client connected from 172.16.8.22 [D][api:067]: Disconnecting Home Assistant 2021.12.10 (172.16.8.22) [D][streamserver:050]: Client 172.16.8.22 disconnected [I][ota:046]: Boot seems successful, resetting boot loop counter. That's what I'm seeing in the Tube WebUI Logs.
So it seems happy?
enable debug logging for zha reload zha,
and then post the logs to dpaste or similar
okay it's talking to the coordinator fine. anything after those Delivery Errors? the may just be occurring during the network start up.
Looks like a few of warnings.
okay, I just checked and everything is back online...
The cc2652p2 was offline this morning, so must be that the reboot brought in online, and then it just took a while for all the zigbee devices to become availble?
If you are THE tube of the tube cc2652p2, then your product has been incredibly reliable to date, and this is the first time I've had anything close to an issue, so thank you.
Great.. yes that's me, and thank you!
sir tube, knower of stuff and things
does anyone know any like actually reliable motion sensors
im using one to detect movement in my kitchen and all the ones ive tried either just crap out when they shouldnt or disconnect entirely or give false positives
im not really sure what to go for here, im currently on the first edition xiaomi sensors since i figured they were likely near identical to the first gen aqara brand ones, but sometimes instead of their normal 1 minute cooldown they give a 3 minute cooldown
just cant seem to find anything actually reliable for sustained movement
I'm guessing other people have the same issue, but I was wondering if anyone found a solution? I'm running a HUSBZB-1 with ZHA on the current version of HA. My Aqara sensors/buttons all disconnected while all my other zigbee devices still work. I can re-pair the Aqara sensors/buttons and they will stay connected and work for a few minutes/hours and then they become unresponsive and require re-pairing. Has anyone found a work-around?
find the router on the network they don't like and remove it
read the pins on this channel
I'm guessing you're referring to Tinkerer's message from May 4. I can access /dev/serial/by-id and everything else is working fine. My ZHA integration loads. It's just a select few devices that are having issues. Some other people (linked below) are having the same problems too.
https://community.home-assistant.io/t/2023-5-0-broke-12-different-aqara-zigbee-devices/567886
https://www.reddit.com/r/homeassistant/comments/13936i0/zha_and_possibly_other_zigbee_integrations_are/
trying to figure out if zha is recording in debug whatever is happening. the cooldown on my device is 1:10, so at 11:08:19 the device is marked as 0 aka also in 1 minute cooldown, so by 11:09:30 or a few seconds later, it should reactivate, since im standing in front of the motion sensor, yet i see no motion event, and the device is marked as seen at around the same time
https://dpaste.org/0SpC9
so whats happening, is it not sending the vent, is it not reaching the coordinator? is it the sensors job to try sending the message again if it doesnt get a confirmation?
what's the communication breakdown here
ah yes, I remember reading this a while back. I live in a small apartment so I don't use a repeater. I've been able to successfully connect my aqara devices (directly) to my HUSBZB-1 for over a year now and with the 2023.5 update these problems emerged. would you recommend downgrading instead at this point?
I have 2. A occupancy detector (does not work as a repeater) and I have an outdoor lightbulb in the patio that I have set up as a repeater for a temp/door sensor in my shed. otherwise, everything indoors is connected to the zigbee stick directly
https://dpaste.org/Bi7K0 diagnostic
best i can tell it seems this issue only happens with extended motion in front of the device, like some kind of communication is going bad, causing a motion detection event to be missed or something, as evidenced by the state not reporting for almost exactly 2:20 rather than the expected 1:10 (very technologically uneducated deduction here)
Where do we find the Zigbee Visualisation nowadays? IIRC it was quite obvious in a previous iteration of HA.
