When you pair the device it goes into a rapid reporting mode, presumably to make it easier to do walk tests and stuff
Aaaaah.
I need to mod it then. I felt like hackerman lmao.
๐
What devices are you guys using as repeaters to extend your zigbee networks? I am heavily invested in lutron caseta for light switches already so not doing that, want to extend the network but not really sure what type of devices to use.
I use Sonof outlets which work fine. But as someone pointed out to me above, getting a Sonof coordinator stick and flashing it with a router firmware makes for a better router (better antenna, better chip). I assume the same is true for other sticks as well, though popular ones are often out of stock.
So I've added my hue bulbs to Z2M but they seem to stop behaving after a little while, is this more or less expected?
I don't have a significant investment in hue bulbs but I had a few from my pre-home assistant time ha
Do they stop reacting at all?
Also, what's the Zigbee model number of those Hue bulbs? (and check in Z2M that they're running the latest firmware)
i have 3 x USB sonoff 3.0+ as routers with a tube ethernet to zigbee dongle and so far sonoff's are the best routers I have found, ie cheap and a decent link performance.
So far the aqara plugs, zigbee lights and zigbee relays I have tried have had a mediocre link / range performance. Sonoff usb3.0 sticks flashed as routers are the best I have found so far.
what is the ethernet to zigbee dongle youโre referring to?
iโll take a look at that, thanks!
so i have that in the middle of the house where most zigbee stuff is and use the sonoffs as backbones to the front and to the rear.
If you need a power plug to monitor power or on/off then the aqara zigbee unit is Ok but its not cheap.
Mostly I use athom wifi plugs and athom wifi wled bulbs as they out perform zigbee.
Sooooooooooo maybe a stupid question, but on my zigbee coordinator there's an antenna. Is there a 'correct' position to point it in?
Vertical I think. the signal should be doughnut like. i had a play and on the sonoff vertical seemed a lot better,.
I wallmounted my coordinator in a, in hindsight, questionable little corner of a closet and its facing upward, since then all LQI have degraded but i havent had any issues with the network since anyway
Gonna play with it a bit, cheers
I made a 3d printed wall bracket to hold my ones in place and protect them a bit
I'm using Tubes PoE coordinator, just slapped some 3M tape on that sucker and called it a day
I ahve the non-poe. its sitting in the ceiling right now but I do need to mount it properly soon. i found even moving it 1~2ft seemed to make a signirifant difference in signal in my case. I thimk i have some sort of interfence going on as my zigbee range is terrible hence I ma going wifi
i've got a truckload of bulbs that act as repeaters, honestly never experienced a range issue
its on the middle floor, and from there on theres heaps of devices
The garage/mancave has LED strips so no bulbs unless I install them just for routers and then the sonoff are better
what about a power plug?
I have also not found a good zigbee bulb yet they have crap light output claim 18watts but are only 9watt
isnt lumen the factor youre looking for, not power?
The athom are $22NZD each and the aqara are $45each so I get 2 for 1
yes. the athom are 15watts and 2400lux and the "18watt"
I bought consume 9w not 18watts and have 940lux so clearly not what is advertised.
I also trashed two athom plugs and Athom sent me 2 for free when i ordered 4 more so so far their support has been great. their wled bulbs are great as well
The only place I want smart bulbs is the computer room and since I cant get good zigbee bulbs here in NZ I am buying athom wled
I have just started so I bought a load of one offs to test
aqara bulbs are 45 NZD each there?!?!?!
aqara plugs, yes. Aqara dont do 15~18watt zigbee bulbs. I have a load of old mi wifi bulbs where I dont have led strip lighting
ah the plugs yeah
im unpacking one as we speak
i got it for the power monitor though
NZD is awful like a philips bulb is $43+NZD and very little else
yeah smart home prices must be atrocious there
Yes, I got one to try and its OK but pricy. I need to extend my network so I will buy 2 more of them though
they are I just buy off aliexpress and ship in...
whats the shipping time to you generally?
youre right though, i buy mostly ali too here. only buy local devices if i want them quick
even the cheap stuff is stupid money
looks like you just pay a 25% markup on pretty much anything
1 USD = 1.6NZD BTW
DIY tools typically 100%+ I wanted blades for my Dewalt and $45US V $380NZD but Amazon refused to ship to NZ
rinse and repeat for cars etc A Nissan leaf 62kwh is $73kNZD here a model3 tesla $74k
tesla is one of the few not ripping NZers off
Do you think sonoff would be better than getting the tubes routers?
Why what
No was asking
Well i haven't had a sonoff coordinator, but i've seen loads of people have issues with it, and not a lot of cc2652 issues
Its probably because sonoff has more users, but that's the most most people can tell you unless there's people who have extensively used both
I found the sonoff's a bit painful to flash but they seem stable
I dont know but the sonoff's are way cheaper. Tube is around for support so worth considering
Where are you getting them? On amazon theyre like $33
When i decided on a coordinator it was obvious for me, but mainly because PoE is awesome for this use. Other than that, I feel like you mostly should disregard price (to a certain extent) when it comes to your zigbee coordinator. Unless you run a very small network, you're going to connect a way pricier network to it which is essential to your smart home. It's like buying a shiny nice car, but refusing to care for it. Stability over everything
But now looking it up, the sonoff is cc2652 based too
So essentially the sonoff is the same as the tubes one?
Sonoff doesn't offer PoE, requires a USB extension cable, and is currently selling a second coordinator that's not based on the CC2652. Make sure you get the right one.
I get them off aliexpress
Would there be a way to change the polling rate for current power usage of this device? It's defaulting to 5 minutes now. There's heaps of possible options in Z2M but most dont seem to change anything
Never mind - seeing itโll trigger reports on significant energy changes
so following up with my phillips hue bulbs that become non-responsive to home assistant, I have this model: https://www.zigbee2mqtt.io/devices/9290011370.html#philips-9290011370
recap: they sometimes just stop responding (and I don't mean because they've been turned off) and generally end up needing to be power cycled, they're from my earlier non-ha solution when I was just using alexa but, nothing on Z2M says they are quirky though.
I'm updating 1 of the 4 of those I have to the current firmware, the remainder are all current, so that doesn't seem to be specifically the issue
just bought a cheap ass zigbee device on ali express, wish me luck boys
url? I buy most of my stuff off aliexpress. NZ has almost nothing and if there is its overpriced
the sonoff and aqara stuff seems very good so far
the bulbs have been crap, 9watts and not the 18watts I paid for
i buy athom wifi wled bulbs and plugs
US $24.55 38%OFF | 1/2" 3/4" 1" Zigbee Tuya Water Valve Wifi Gas Valve Manipulator Smart Remote Control Timer Controller Support Smart Life Alexa
https://a.aliexpress.com/_mL5MDLw
I got this one as well as a flood sensor and a RGB controller I don't have the greatest hopes for them but assuming that the flood system came with a US plug I'm hoping that the zigbee frequency will work in the US it's still not 100% sure on what frequencies were allowed in the US cuz I know there's a global one and then there's a us one but I don't know if it's interchangeable
I have a similar tuya valve controller I got a year or so ago. it has worked great, and unlike most tuya stuff was standard compliant for the most part.
I have another in a box - haven't had time to set it up yet.
As much as I hate hubs I have to thank tuya for being such a big proponent in Asia's home automation
Without them we probably wouldn't be getting products like this is cheap
As cheap*
flood sensor I got the aqara one but not fitted it yet.
I have two IKEA TREDANSEN blinds but one of them is without battery reporting. The two clusters batteryPercentageRemaining and currentPositionLiftPercentage are missing. I've tried repairing but it doesn't help. Ideas? Zigbee2MQTT. It stopped working after I upgraded firmware (and repaired) on it to the same firmware as the working one. EDIT: I'll try adding the clusters manually. I thought they should've come automatically. EDIT2: Worked. Why did I have to add those clusters manually?
Hello does my Tuya powered smart socket with a zigbee can still allow me to connect to HA without internet connection right?
Assuming you use ZHA or Zigbee2MQTT with it, yes
If you're going to try to use that Tuya hub... well, as already mentioned that's not going to work out well
Tuya has a hub?
that's a gateway.
hub/gateway, same shit
ah okay.
If you want to be sensible you buy a Zigbee coordinator (typically a USB stick) and run ZHA or Zigbee2MQTT
I searched it on Google. Just to ensure which of these are correct
oh wait this channel prohibits image upload
There are three Zigbee options with Home Assistant (regardless of how you install it). These are:
zha is actively developed as part of Home Assistant Core, using the zigpy stack, the UI also being part of Home Assistant. The EmberZNet based sticks are recommended (though the HUSBZB-1 uses an older chipset), but there are other options including the CC2652 based sticks. There is no list of supported devices, as any standards compliant device should work. Devices that require extra support are listed, and adding unsupported devices is documented.
Zigbee2MQTT is very actively developed and can run in an add-on, in a Docker container, and natively. As of 1.15 has a native UI, and it also uses MQTT for control and configuration. It supports mostly TI based sticks, with the recommended option being the [CC2652 based sticks](#zigbee-archived message). If you want to use an EmberZNet stick see this issue. The known working devices are well documented (which usually includes how to pair them so you don't have to find the manual), and adding unsupported devices is also documented.
deCONZ is relatively stable and mature with its own UI (and Discord server). It can run in an add-on, in a Docker container, or natively. Only the ConBee range of sticks and RaspBee GPIO boards are supported. Known working devices are documented, and how to request support for a new device is documented too (you can't add unsupported devices yourself).
Yeah, images of text are a horrible thing, and with image uploads enabled too many idiots share images of text...
This link looks like what you were talking about https://www.lazada.com.ph/products/sonoff-zb-dongle-p-zigbee-30-usb-dongle-plus-universal-zigbee-gateway-support-via-zha-or-zigbee2mqtt-sonoff-zigbee-series-automation-kits-aliexpress-i2980648797-s14593492816.html?exlaz=d_1:mm_150050845_51350205_2010350205::12:16442886951!!!!!c!!14593492816!547044839&gclid=CjwKCAjw6raYBhB7EiwABge5KhYcptfjZ36XsIqtrVsJu2OD-q5i424NaZ0jMsX9PN0x_HaaWs-OZhoCeOMQAvD_BwE
Yes
but if I turn off my laptop with the dongle. I lost its automation.
Well, what do you expect?
Computers don't work well when they're turned off
A bit like people
good.

May not be best place for this, don't suppose anyone has suggestion for Zigbee Repeater nodes to use in HA ... got a bit of signal issue between the floors
most powered devices should be repeaters such as light bulbs / switches
Amazing thsnk you @grim igloo I don't suppose you have an idea of what bulbs best ... if happily pop a few in but I'm currently using P Hue which has its own hub.
Not Sengled since they're not routers
I recently moved my hue bulbs off their hub and on to Zigbee2mqtt in hass and theyโre working great
any switches or relays that are "no neutral" should also be vetted. Most are NOT routers
brrrr
I see you've upgraded from mesh to cat's cradle
sigh I need your help, again. I bought the Sonoff 3.0 stick (ZBDongle-P) and flashed it with the latest coordinator (Z-Stack_3.x.0 20220219) firmware. It's seen as a Zigbee Coordinator in the latest HOAS (2022.8.7). I have Mosquitto Broker and Zigbee2MQTT add-ons installed. I've followed several configuration guides, deleting and restarting add-ons as appropriate, but all result in "502: Bad Gateway." Please, lend me a hand.
Enough+1
I have transcended your mortal plains
okay, so I have "Error while starting zigbee-herdsman" but no amount of tinkering I know how to do changes that.
In the "serial" section I have
port: >-
/dev/serial/by-id/usb-ITead_Sonoff_Zigbee_3.0_USB_Dongle_Plus_48eeed736799ec11b2a503c944d80d13-if00-port0
which I took from my own systems hardware list.
There should be more than just those few words
Sorry, I thought the first error would be most relevant.
@crimson tinsel posted a code wall, it is moved here --> https://hastebin.com/qojawebiye

Zigbee2MQTT:error 2022-08-30 19:44:14: Error: Failed to connect to the adapter (Error: SRSP - SYS - ping after 6000ms)
That is the relevant error line
Make sure you don't have ZHA (Zigbee Home Automation) enabled in HA's integration page
HMM it appears the Sonoff dongle that showed up there was ZHA, I had no idea. Deleted and restarting now.
AND the webUI works.
You're a frikkin' rockstar.
I've seen more than a few people make that mistake
Thank goodness for your observation of many more noobs than myself.
I too have some stories from my tech support days.
That's not a new problem, the generation is irrelevant
Also, frankly, rude (and against the code of conduct)
My mistake, I'll delete it.
And doubling down on that...
Did you say my parents, my sister, my mil, my aunt, my cousins?
Attitude is what leads to people being rude, age is not an indicator of that
I sincerely hope anybody who read and was affected by my insensitive comments can accept my formal apology. I made a generalization from my own personal experience, and it was narrowminded of me to hold them as commonly-held beliefs or anything more than anecdotal.
no worries, on my setup of Z2M i failed to put frontend: in the config and wondered why my frontend didnt work
I can't for the love of Dog figure out what is going on why my zigbee groups recently
I have been remaking groups, and getting rid of old ones
now new groups are just randomly turning on
at first I suspected adaptive lighting, but it isn't enabled on said group I just created
Hi. Does anyone know if it's possible to setup an automation/trigger based on a zigbee device coming back online? I'm using the Zigbee Home Automation integration, not MQTT.
is anything else triggering the entities in the group seperatly?
might also help to use mqtt explorer to help debug
Assuming it changes state, sure
you could probably trigger on the link quality changing if it hasnt changed for x amount of time
@sour shadow @twin gazelle How would I go about doing that, the only options I see when I click New automation is the following:
Device offline
CeilingLight2 turned on or off
CeilingLight2 turned off
CeilingLight2 turned on
_TZ3210_remypqqm TS0505B Identifybutton has been pressed
Because it has a Device offline, I would assume it has the opposite as well, but..
Simple state trigger in your #automations-archived - no magic
- platform: state
entity_id: sensor.whale
from: 'unavailable'
Don't waste your time with device trigger/condition/actions ... they're so much more limited than the proper options
Mine wouldnt have worked anyway, doesnt look like z2m passes linkquality as an attribute of devices
It does if you configure Z2M correctly
Z2M also supports availability though, which is the right way of doing this
I've never used the yaml automation stuff, so I will have to look into that, thanks.
You can do it all in the UI without touching YAML
any suggestions on improvements for my config? https://pastebin.com/VDhK9ZGS
Interesting, I did a wipe of all my mqtt topics related to z2m, that seems to have fixed them turning back on, for now... but the zigbee2mqtt group that is automatically propegated to HA turns on when I turn the group off, but the lights do not turn back on ๐ค
do you have a transition set on the bulbs i have bulbs that will turn on with a transition but not off, this includes if the transition is set in your zigbee2mqtt devices.yaml, something similar may be happening to you
I do, but I have always had that ๐
the light.kvelds_gruppe and switch.kvelds_gruppe that z2m propegates into HA remain on
but the lights remain off
i'd suggest seeing what's happening via mqtt explorer if you've not already, that helped me figure mine out
yeah, it remains off in mqtt explorer now after I wiped all topics
there is an event for this. there is one for offline and one for online IIRC
https://gist.github.com/dmulcahey/6a231d57ba1335fe4cd12b35366fae84 this is what I do for offline notifications
it isn't pretty but it works
I can't find it, if that's the case. I've also seen a lot of issues people have where the device does not report it's status when it's power is cut.
well it aint magic
no power means no radio
lol
we do this based on lack of activity w/ different timers for mains vs battery powered devices
I would think that the hub would detect if something goes offline..
we do based on what I just said above ๐
and it is configurable in zha config panel
you can pick your own length for the detection... but we chose our defaults for a reason ๐
the link above shows the event format for the trigger for device offline
My use case is to turn something on/off based on availability of another device. So if it's not real time, or close to it, I probably have to find another solution.
There's not really any way to make it real time without slowing down your network considerably by polling everything all the time. For battery powered devices, there's really no good way at all.
unless you want a bad zigbee network and you want to change batteries every day
I only need this trigger for mains powered devices.
But I guess it's not possible to poll this information from specific devices, it has to be the entire network?
Zigbee is a relatively low bandwidth setup, pinging things all the time brings some interesting risks...
It's at least higher bandwidth than Z-Wave, but it's all too easy to overload things, and result in a flood of retries that basically brings it down
what are you actually trying to do? maybe there is a different way to achieve it
I've seen people break their Z-Wave mesh with excessive polling... of a single device
yep... in the beginning I did it w/ older GE switches
because they didn't send basic reports when manually controlled
Ok. In my case I really only need to ping a single device every ~5 seconds or so. Can I modify the gist above to do that?
maybe... try searching the forums... someone may have done something w/ service calls
we have a service that lets you issue cluster requests and you could use that to constantly read the manufacturer from the basic cluster
but you would need to handle all the edges... like what happens on a timeout
or things like that
I had a use case for avalibility once, it was very narrow
see if the ventilator hood of my stove was on or not
vibration sensor
yeah, I ended up using an aqara button for it instead, to put kitchen in food prep mode, more lights on
hi all - my z2mqtt devices went offline last night. a reset of zigbee 2 mqtt fixed it. the error was:
2022-08-30 22:19:33.072 WARNING (Thread-2 (_thread_main)) [homeassistant.components.mqtt.client] Disconnected from MQTT server core-mosquitto:1883 (7) 2022-08-30 22:20:16.627 ERROR (MainThread) [homeassistant] Error doing job: Task exception was never retrieved
I didn't see an update in z2mqtt so not sure what could have caused this. any clues on where to look? or how to fix it from happening?
stick it right on the motor in the hood
as long as your code is better than your day to day typing you'll be fine!
๐ฌ
I still remember having to overclock my PS\2 port
because I was typing too fast in 1997
oh man
Maybe it was AT come think of it
No I think it was PS\2
I hated those ports
I love old tech, PS\2 was the norm on servers until 2015 at least
I don't think we do them anymore after Gen9
trying to swap keyboards on towers under desks w/o moving anything
so doing it blind.... that was never fun
LOL
read... experienced
That would be the term I used if I was a lady of the night
oh man
In some ways I am
this is taking a turn....
it makes sense, just an interesting comparison
Can I offer you some LPT-ports in these trying times ?
I still remember having to jerryrig a LPT cable to be crossover at a friends house because we wanted to play Doom head to head
nice
I need some help...I have configured everything properly (I think). zigbee2mqtt seems to be running in the container but I cannot access the mqtt server what am I doing wrong?
shouldt typying mqtt://10.0.0.58 take me to the server screen?
I am ready to tear my hair out on this one
@spiral viper posted a code wall, it is moved here --> https://hastebin.com/casonexiro
I assume this means that the server is working
so how do I access it?
You need an mqtt client to subscribe to a topic you want to check
did I miss something?
I don't understand the question
Seems you'll benefit from learning about MQTT: https://www.hivemq.com/mqtt-essentials/
What is the issue with it?
that was the log from zigbee2mqtt which says things are technically working
but I don't seem to be able to access z2m
Did you type it's IP address and port according to your configuration?
it should be 10.0.058:8080
I get a refused to connect
I added it to the sidebar of HA
Did you enable the frontend in configuration?
I believe so
The answer should be a yes or no
ok where should I look to make sure
in my docker compose I have frontend port set as 8080
8080:8080
In configuration.yaml for zigbee2mqtt
Forwarding ports through docker compose is just the first step of the frontend configuration
port: /dev/ttyACM0
Buddy, try reading the zigbee2mqtt frontend configuration first
woops I don't see the frontend: in my z2m configure file
Thanks blak!!!! that line of code was not in the yaml file
I bought several ZigBee items from aliexpress under the brand "Aubess". The smart plugs appear to Z2M as TS011F_plug_1, though their physical appearance is different from the zigbee2mqtt.io picture (mine are cylindrical). Power monitoring does not show up on my dashboard, but I haven't made an attempt to configure it manually in case that's the step I'm missing. Z2M however shows there is a OTA firmware I could update them with, but it doesn't state the current nor target firmware (as far as I can tell) and there are some worrying snippets of info when googling. Does anybody have experience with these plugs?
Also in the order were some "Aubess" E27 RGBCW bulbs. I'm having a strange issue with them, which may just be a configuration error but with all pun intended, hopefully somebody could shed some light on it.
I got rid of all my Tuya Wi-Fi gear, including plugs and bulbs, before buying all the ZigBee stuff. I did not delete my automations, however. After syncing a few bulbs, I renamed them in Z2M to the same friendly name as some of the Tuya bulbs and the old automations worked! RGB, brightness, it seemed very convenient. Except when turning them off, and back on again. The one bulb "(ZB-RGBCW) by Lonsonho Firmware: 1.0.13" does everything as expected, but the rest (Firmware: 2.0.1) only respond when individually turning them off (again) via the dashboard and back on. Once on, all automations work until they are turned off again.
I don't know if it's worth noting, but my efforts to move the warmth slider all the way to the right (500) always seems to revert to a lower (454 on the 2.0.1 bulbs and 370 on the 1.0.13 bulb) value.
xD Syncing was a breeze once you helped me get Z2M working, my goodness what an upgrade over the Tuya wi-fi junk
Fortunately I got a full refund.
Woo
It covered about 50% of what the ZigBee replacements cost me xD
i have an update to my lights problem: when I run a scene which turns the lights green while the 2.0.1s are off, if I then run a scene that turns them all on to warm, they will briefly flash green before resuming their off state. Power-cycling the 2.0.1s turns them on to the current scene. The 1.0.13 bulb behaves as desired during this time. I recall having to manually input parameters to control the color and brightness of the tuya wi-fi bulbs, do I need to set those somewhere for zigbee devices as well?
Further update: Using the default dashboard group "light" I can turn them all off and back on again as a group, but only the bulb on the older firmware works as expected even on a new scene and automation I created with brightness and temp in the center, nothing else can turn on the 2.0.1 bulbs.

Does anyone know if this beauty works with Home Assistant as a zigbee coordinator?
There's a pinned message with all of the officially supported adapters, that one is not on the list. I can find no reference that it works with Z2M. The recommended adapter has a CC2652 chip, which that card does not. You may be able to sniff traffic and communicate with ZigBee devices in Windows with that card, but I doubt Z2M/ZHA would make a driver for it.
But I'm a novice here.
The Yellow platform will use a SiLabs chipset, so ZHA may support it in the future
If it follows the EZSP standards it'll work already in both ZHA and Z2M
ZigBee Modes ZigBee Coordinator โ , Routerโ , End device
...
โ : These features are not supported by current software releases
Looks like SiLabs has to catch up first ๐
ah... rip
Would love to just have a all-in-one card that does BT + Zigbee without having to plugin external devices
Although the copyright is 2020, maybe it works now
You'd likely have to compile your own firmware for it though. It exposes itself over USB to the host, maybe it already works
hello
i have a few FP1's that pair correctly in Z2M but don't give me any relevant data
these are a second pair that i bought, previously I could easily integrate
any idea what to do ? Nothing strange in the logs - all looks fine - only in the JSON, it doesn't show any values
What coordinator are you running and what firmware version does Z2M show?
Hm, So I ordered a few Salus SP600 smart switches for power monitoring, connected them by Deconz to HA and they show up but they seem to be missing some values? They only show "Power On/Off", "Consumption : kwh", "Temperature: c" but they ... apparently.. should also have a "Power: w" to show actual live power usage
in Deconz that does seem to be a thing listed under the XML in Deconz.. but its not showing up in HA?
ZZH!
I dunno if anyone has seen this issue, I've looked the the Deconz config and its honestly a bit beyond my level of understanding to know what I can do. Unsure if its a issue with Deconz (Im going to bemoving to eithe ZHA or zigbee2MQTT in the next week or so...) so, feedback from anyone else using these devies and if they worked for them would be good to know
zha with the sonoff USB dongle with antenna has been working well for me
Hm, I think thse things are more than a bit broken as its kwH rating is also like.. weirdly nonsense? its like a factor of 1000 out
are their any inactive entities in the device in HA?
might be turned off by default
I dont think so? they just dont show up on the device at all that I can see
Under Sensors there are just the two, I dont see anything about disabled...
I think its +1 not shown or something like that
just a thought
I've never used deconz.
hm, doesnt look like it..
Its not disabled in HA, pretty sure of that and it doesnt show up in Phoscon for Deconz but does show up in the VNC.. gui... thing
must be calculated somehow
Hm okay, so if I go into the attirubes of the sensor it shows up there.. weird

Hey folks. Iโm no Zigbee expert, but I understand the basics. I had an Aqara temperature sensor two floors up from my coordinator that kept dropping off the network. This, of course, is totally understandable. So, to fix the issue, I picked up a handful of Sonoff smart plugs (https://zigbee.blakadder.com/Sonoff_S31ZB.html).
While the issue with the temperature sensor seems to have been solved, Iโm now running into issues with my Aqara light switches (https://zigbee.blakadder.com/Aqara_WS-USC01.html) in the rooms where I put the smart plugs.
Could this just be an interference issue? What am I missing? How can adding more router devices make my network less stable?
Did you re-join the problem devices to your network after adding the new routers?
I reset one of them after it fell off. For the other, one just let it reconnect on its own. Both still seem to be having issues.
Aqara devices need to be joined specifically to the closest router device, they don't pick good parents
And how do I ensure that?
What integration are you using?
ZHA
Go to the device page, click the three dots, and then "add devices via this device"
ZHA will then only allow new devices to join through that one router, instead of any router
Oh, my god. Thank you. I had no idea that was how it worked.
So it looks like these power monitors are kind of garbage, while Im pulling that 'power' value it.. seems to be nonsense.
Apparently two devices are pulling.. 2Khw but my overall power usage for the entire house is.. 700w
huh, apparently if a direct link to the ZHA settings is opened without providing ?config_entry=... (so just http://homeassistant.local:8123/config/zha/dashboard for example), the two shortcuts in the first section are entirely missing now: https://i.imgur.com/vvLMSqV.png
(and I somehow opened that link without entering it directly but I can't reproduce it now lol)
I have a few Sengled bulbs that no longer support changing their colors in the UI of z2m. The odd part is it is only three out of about 25 . Is there a way to force an interview of an already paired device? One of these is on a smart switch with a slow relay so getting it into pairing mode requires a ladder and is a general PITA compared to poking a DB or something similar.
Re-paired/interviewed one of the two that is accessible and still no color option in z2m or HA. The state in z2m for the problematic bulbs is clearly missing the color components present in the fully functional ones.
I kinda have a Problem with the H1 Aqara Double Rocker.
ZHA detects the clicks of the buttons. But double clicks, tripple clicks and long clicks etc. are just detected as one single click
the beta has updates for one of these
Does the firmware in zha only ship in new releases? Ie no firmware database outside of updating ha?
Hey friends, found the zigbee problem at home, now I got another one my zigbee2mqtt is very unstable and devices go offline randomly, anyone has the same problem?
there is no db for ZHA for firmwares.
there are some remote providers
and the rest needs to be brought local per installation
Oh, curious why an update would enable them then, didn't the previous one have aqara repos? I come from z2m which works in a similar fashion I guess
what are you seeing?
Afaik z2m just points to the remote repos too, whenever you do a check it just correlates the device ID to the downloaded list of firmwares, then downloades and pushes
from what I see
What's the best way to stabilize zigbee2mqtt?
If devices are going offline randomly it's a mesh issue
The causes could be many, but include:
- Poor channel choice
- Coordinator in a USB 3.0 port
- Coordinator not on a USB extension cable
- WiFi interference (see also #1)
Nothing from that is the case,
- channel 11
- USB port 2.0
- Extension cable 2.0 1m
- Checked all interferences and no collision
Channel 11 is likely a terrible choice
๐ค
Z2M's default channel mostly sucks
we have a few providers that go direct to mfg indexes in cloud
yeah, think z2m does that too, for ikea at least
I see
CONF_OTA_IKEA,
CONF_OTA_INOVELLI,
CONF_OTA_LEDVANCE,
CONF_OTA_SALUS,
those look like the ones that can just be enabled
I'd have to dig deeper to see if the rest work similarly
It means changing channel, repairing all devices ๐ญ
looks like the rest would have to be manually downloaded and stuck in the OTA dir
Can I change the channel in the UI of z2m our should I change it on the device directly? Like I use a conbee2
๐ค๐ค
Either UI or yaml
What the experience with the sonoff zigbee dongle plus ? ๐ค
And you shouldn't use a conbee
Thanks
What would you recommend?
Tubes stuff or zzh
My Sonoff CC2652 is behaving fine, better than my ZZH
(Unlike my ZZH it let me pair my Terncy kit)
I made the best experience with conbee best response time better latence
Only difference is the Sonoff is the Launchpad firmware
That's strange
The ConBee is known to be a pain in the ass
I have a few coordinators and tested, the best so far is conbee that's strange ๐ฅ
It is still considered experimental with z2m afaik
I see that's why I had so much problems with lost devices
In the zha it's not the case
Still I have a lot to learn
So another question is I also have this sonoff dongle but I can't see it on the programmer for flashing it is that some driver problems? ๐ค
The other ones works just fine to flash out of the box with launchpad firmware
What programmer are you using? The Sonoff needs to enter a bootloader to be flashed.
That's ok
Texas instruments Smartrf ๐ค
So if I understand correctly the sonoff is a better way than the tubes? ๐ค I always want to test Ethernet solutions it sounds very logical to me but it's also not cheap
Is there a way to do an in-place replacement of an end device? Re: the problem I mentioend above where several bulbs "lost" the color states, if I want to replace them with new ones but not impact IDs or mappings between z2m and HA, is there a way to pair the new one and put in the place of an old one?
With Z2M is there a way to force pairing to an extender?
Is it the "bind" function?
Last I tried it, the button you click to permit joins has a dropdown menu that lets you select a router to permit joins through
Ah yes I see it now. Thanks!
I've been using a Conbee stick with HA's Deconz integration and it has been rock solid. My only issue was with a reboot and the integration not working...the fix was to change the GW address to the name instead of the IP address in the config file. I'm coming from Tuya Wifi, so right now, my system feels like Heaven!
Conbee with deconz is the only good combo for it afaik
Then for once I chose right ๐ That is not my normal behavior!
Thanks I was thinking the same
So deconz way is one good thing
and how are you using deconz? On your instance? ๐ค
Or separately?
I see thanks for sharing this with us
No problem, glad to share my experience
I got curtain Moduls and other stuff like a pups meter interface is that also calibrable over deconz? ๐ค Over mqtt it's all no problem
Found the problem with the sonoff dongle it was a missing driver ๐๐ข๐ฅ
Hi! Found cool circuit breaker with power meter.
Anyone use this?
I wonder what kind of data is exposed
To close the loop on my issue with bulb color disappearing. I updated the z2m add-on to v1.27.2 which came out a few hours back and when it came back up the colors for those bulbs had returned and is functional. I had restarted the add-on and repaired but that didn't help. I'm not sure what the update contained or did to fix it ๐คทโโ๏ธ
huh, did.. Zigbee/Deconz always reset switches when Home assist resets?
I've just noticed that, rebooting HA/restarting it and all the switches turn on/off
Do you have automations for those switches that use Device instead of State (etc)?
Nope, most of these devices are things I'd never turn on/off, just pull power metering from them
Hm not sure then. I know they can go from Unavailable -> On/Off on startup or reconnects and that can cause triggers to run automations, but that doesn't sound like the case for you.
Yeah the logbook just says "Turned off." doesnt say by what or why
That means it happened outside of HA
teh only thing that could do that then would have been Deconz..
I have been thinking about replacing it, these Salus switches just.. act odd. their metering is (for some reason, off by a factor of 10)
Im hoping moving to ZHA or Zigbee2MQTT will work a smidge better ๐ ,And in the meantime Im just using templating to setup a new entry that is the orignal with a /10 on it. Although if I could get these templates to show up as 'energy consumption' that's be great..
It certainly should be better, whichever you pick
Just waiting for the new controller to arrive as well, then its 'reprogram all the things' -.- Everyone loves that!
Yeah... though you can possibly do a lot as a phased migration
I was wondering that, tbh I might just stick the salus on it first and make sure those actually work correctyl on the new setup as I'll need to return em if they dont
I just checked, I don't have this behavior in my system
Yeha I dont know what on earth is going on, weirdness
My Logbook is full of funky stuff. But...the devices don't go offline and always respond.
is there a way to get the model name of a device from the an entity id?
oops wrong channel
I'm having the same issue, would you or anyone mind sharing what you did to correct it? I have a user setup in HA liked stated to do in the documentation and I followed all the steps but it states null username or password.
Following up on my post from yesterdayโฆ I learned how to force a device to pair with a specific router device, but couldnโt get it to work. Is it possible that there is some incompatibility between the individual devices? (See my previous post for the particular devices in question.)
I just did a downgrade of a backup and it's all working now. Not sure what's going on with the new version though?
just found out the smart gas meter for my house is zigbee will have to get that setup in the mornind once i figure out how to pair it, but first bed
Are you sure you are resetting the Aqara device?
The fact that youโre asking that question tells me that I may not be as certain as I thought I was. Is there a difference between resetting it and putting it back in pairing mode?
Hold the button until it blinks
Well, yes. Thatโs what I did.
anyone here a developer for Z2M
hey quick question for anyone - i'm trying to start messing with using a sonoff wireless switch, zigbee dongle, raspbi pi. It was added fine and I can see in the logbook clearly when I click it that it is firing. The problem seems to be that it only adds a switch device but not an entity associated with the click. Or maybe I'm just missing that?
Which integration are you using?
ZHA for instance works with events for many things
Hi, can't find it now, but how do I remove/diable ModemManager in Home Assistant 2022.8.7
Supervisor 2022.08.5
Operating System 8.5
Frontend-versie: 20220802.0 - latest
It's not installed on HAOS
Ah damn
Hoped it would solve my problem with rfxcom
Do I have to have rfxcom in config.yaml configured to have it also working in Node Red ? Like this :
rflink:
port: /dev/serial/by-id/usb-1a86_USB_Serial-if00-port0
or do they bite ?
https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/rfxtrx/ isn't Zigbee related
None of the RF stuff is on topic here, but if you want an integration to work then it needs configured
#integrations-archived can help you with the RF stuff, at least if you're clear whether it's RFXCOM or RFLink
okay thanks again
Since I'm using the sonoff zjgbee 3.0 dingle I'm using that as the integration. It's clearly working as the logbook is recording single, double and mong presses, but I don't understand how to use that since any blueprints etc are looking for a button entity and all that exists is the switch device
That's not an integration
I'm going to go out on a limb and assume ZHA (Zigbee Home Automation)
You need a blueprint that supports ZHA
Gotcha
Since for that kind of device, ZHA uses events, not entities
Ah OK that makes sense then, I'll look around some more, thanks for the help
Woo, my Electrolama Zzh arrived and got Zigbee2MQTT running now to.. reprogram all the things ๐
finally someone picked the correct stick
Curiously, what is the intended way to change a device's name in Z2M? I can change the HA name but in the controller its named after its ID and the field to change it in the webpage is greyed out
there are two options in Z2M fronted to change HA name
I was using Deconz with a ConBee2, but its always been a bit.. iffy. so for ยฃ30.. worth trying something a bit more modern
OH! lol, there is a huge "RENAME DEVICE" button..
this
Yeah I spotted it, was looking under the device settings where you cant rename it for.. reasons.
Hm.. So Im trying to add automations for my light-switches using MQTT discovery, but Im not sure why the automations are still using the old 'friendly name device_id: 8e7ad0b04f9e1e1b1601bdc04f43e2a1 type: action subtype: on_press discovery_id: 0x0017880104ae70e8 action_on_press instead of like "office_light_switch" but not sure why
I've no ida where that device_id is coming from, I dont see tha tlisted anywhere in zigbee2mqtt
(These are populated by MQTT discovery)
I'm going to assume that the Device ID is a thing internal to HA
Yeah, I'm not seeing anything from Z2M that looks similar to the device ID I get in HA
Hm, DiscoveryID is the IEEE address (which was also the original 'friendly name' that I've changed in Z2M) but.. yeah.. I kinda need these to be specific names for my automations. I was lazy and wrote 4 automations to handle every remote in the house and use string replace to ID which one needs to be triggered at any one time
The correct answer is to not use devices at all
Just use normal triggers/conditions and service calls
Then as long as your old and new entity has the same entity_id nothing changes
So just set the trigger to be MQTT / topic rather than the recomended device triggers?
is there any noteable difference, or why Device trigger is "recommended"
Nah, state trigger
Device triggers/conditions/actions are easy (and limited). They don't need people to RTFM, so you can just blindly click about the UI and make an automation that works
They're "recommended" because it's easier for people to use them, though few of us with any experience actually recommend them...
Hm okay, I guess the question is then how I know what zigbee2mqtt is sending so I know what state to read for each button/action and the like
You have entities
Like any other entity, look at the current state in
-> States
if you're bored use SQL to query the states database to see all the historical states
select distinct(state) from states where entity_id = 'switch.whale_dropper';
Replace switch.whale_dropper with your entity
I suppsose my question is more fundemantal, this switch that is now on Z2M , how do I know what HA is calling its entity, it doesnt show up if I search for 'office'
er.. wait, it does after I refreshed .. -.-
sensor.office_switch_action ๐
The Z2M docs will tell you what the expected action values are
Probably something like single, double, triple
Hm, the more I look at this code the less likey it seems it'll work because im reading a state, not a variable from Deconz Im not sure I can have the 'trigger' just be "Wella nything that has 'switch' in its name..
hey peeps - I wonder if you can help me with this.
I'm using a Conbee II (+ extension cable away from wifi devices) with Z2MQTT and HA 2022.6.7 (via Docker) on an RPi4.
Everything works fine on this version of HA, however, whenever I update to recent versions of HA everything breaks. That is my automations and devices linked to Z2MQTT stop working and become unavailable. Loading up the Z2MQTT UI results in a 502 Gateway error.
Not sure if it's a red herring but as a consequence samba is unable to start as well.

thoughts?
@amber hawk I'm not that well versed in HA yet, but I have an idea or two you might try while waiting for somebody more experienced.
I had something similar recently, make sure ZHA isn't active. Settings>Devices & Services> If you see your stick there with "zigbee home automation" next to it, delete that and restart.
Verify the port your stick is located at in homeassistant too, maybe port location changed in the updated version and Z2M can't find it/or looking for a different format.
Your line "Using zigbee-herdsman with settings: [...]" doesn't appear in my logs (with the Sonoff stick) at all, it just moves on to "herdsman started". Maybe that's a Conbee quirk, or maybe changing/removing those settings will fix it.
hey @crimson tinsel - good shout! The conbee stick was showing there with errors. I've deleted it and restarted - although it has been "discovered" by HA i haven't touched it.
things look good so far.
With regards to the device port, my Z2MQTT config is:
port: >-
/dev/serial/by-id/usb-dresden_elektronik_ingenieurtechnik_GmbH_ConBee_II_DE2287377-if00
adapter: deconz
which is the same port located in settings > hardware > all hardware
Happy to help, it was just recently that Tinkerer solved that one for me xD
Now if somebody could help me solve the issue I'm having with my https://www.zigbee2mqtt.io/devices/ZB-RGBCW.html
lights I'd be eternally grateful.
I'm having issues with some Zigbee bulbs (using dconz). I have a group defined for the 3 light bulbs in my kitchen ceiling fixture. When I turn off the fixture group, all 3 bulbs turn off, but the Logbook only reports that two of them were turned off. Since I'm using Adaptive Lighting, it seems to think that a bulb is still on, so it turns them all on again after a period of minutes.
How do I get HA to understand and register that all 3 bulbs have turned off?
Lighting group from Config.yaml and the "turn off" automation from automations.yaml list here: https://pastebin.com/4Repejj1 Please let me know if you need any more info to trouble shoot.
What does deCONZ show?
If it shows that one is still on then the problem is with deCONZ
If it shows all as off then the problem is with the deCONZ integration in HA
Excellent question. Where would I go to look at that?
the deCONZ UI?
OK, forgive my slowness. It's been quite a while since I've messed with HA (even though this has been bugging me for a while). It's the ZHA integration, not deCONZ that I'm using.
Actually, on the Devices page it says Zigbee Coordinator Mfgr: ZHA, Model deCONZ = dresden elecktornik... Integration: Zigbee Home Automation
yeah that's ZHA w/ a conbee radio
are all 3 bulbs the same type?
if so, go to the device card for the one that isn't working
then click reconfigure and complete that dialog
after it's done test the group again
well on the plus side the Salus's seem to work a lot better with Zigbee2MQTT, they firmware update and provide correct power values without me having to screw around, so thats something.
I need some help. ๐
Bought a Sonoff Plus-P stick and flashed the firmware.
But when i start Zigbee2MQTT, it not able to start - any advice?

I've seen a few people report issues like that, with no information on the cause. I'm not sure what's going on.
Is that the add-on?
Tried with the old Conbee stick and it works fine.
yep the log is from the addon
I think the commonality with that failure is that everybody is using the add-on
This is the debug log:

Did you used to have a Conbee?
{"adapter":"deconz","path":"/dev/ttyUSB0"}}'
You've still got it configured for the ConBee
yep, just saw that. tried to delete from the configuration.yaml
the error still persist.
You may have to have Z2M stopped
Thanks. Yes, all my zigbee bulbs are Sengled Z01-A12NAE26.
I just ran the automation that turns everything off. Of course, this time, they all went off and the device cards for all 3 kitchen bulbs indicate that they're off.
I'll give it 15-20 minutes to see if one decides to come back on. That's what usually happens. Also, I'm pretty sure there isn't "one" that comes on - it seems to be random as to which bulb comes on, but I'll be sure to track it, if I can't resolve this today
Anyone seen random pulses of power passing through the Aqara smart plugs?
Got some super freaky behaviour. Basically, i have a aqara plug that unpowers my workstation, however occasionally while it is powered off i see the RGB of the GPU and RAM light up for just an isntant and then go dark again
I have not heard the relay click when this happens but then again i havent listened closely for it and have had other sounds arround at the same time.
Just starting to wonder if the control circuit and the output are not properly galvanic isolated.
Then again... Both sides are 230V so nothing neccisarily "Wrong" with that. Just annoying that i might not be able to use these for stuff that dont like being power pulsed and might take damage from it.
And, of course, because the repair guy is here looking at it, the lights all turned off as they're supposed to and none turned back on. ๐ฆ
Though, this time, 2 of the 3 kitchen bulbs turned ON when I clicked the light tile in the UI, one did not. Looking at the Kitchen Bulb 3 card, it shows the bulb is off as well as it being obviously off when I look at the fixture. The log books for the 3 bulbs show that bulb 1 & 2 turned on then I manually turned them on, but bulb 3 has no entry, as though HA didn't even attempt it.
Just for the heck of it, I attempted to reconfigure every one of the 8 identical Sengled bulbs that I've got. Every single one reported The device reconfiguration failed. Additional information may be available in the logs. Each of them has a yellow X in the binding column of the Metering section.
I don't think they've ever reported power usage and I'm not really concerned. I'm sure they're using significantly less in total than the server that HA is running on, so it's not a major worry, though I realize that this may be a contributing factor to why they're not working properly.
I had a look in home-assistant.log and it's full of lines like this:
2022-09-02 17:28:09.354 WARNING (MainThread) [homeassistant.helpers.service] Unable to find referenced entities light.office_light_fixture or it is/they are currently not available
but no errors that seem (to me) to be related to the attempted reconfigurations
The settings cards for both reports This entity ('light.kitchen_light_fixture') does not have a unique ID, therefore its settings cannot be managed from the UI. so that may be the issue. Do I simply at an id: <uid> line to the config.yaml file to give each a unique ID?
^ Nope, don't do that, id: is an invalid tag in a group. :/
What's with the soliloquy?
What's the (Zigbee) model of the affected Aqara plug?
hoping to share enough info that someone will be able to point me in the right direction to figure out what's going on.
I'm pretty sure that if a "turn on message" isn't sent or received correctly, HA knows the state of the light bulb never changed. That's why there's nothing about bulb 3 in the logbook (since it failed to send/received the turn on command I guess)
Is this regarding normal HA Light Groups defined in YAML now? (If so, you can create them through the "Helper" section in the UI now)
Iโm helping him now
Hi, my 5-button-Tradfri remote ran out of battery and apparently something broke (it did work in HA before). Now I re-paired it several times by now and it does show up, but no zha_events are received. Basically I clicked "add device" and pressed the pairing button on the remote four times. Did I miss something important?
hi somehow my Aqara ZigBee temperature sensor is sending two lines on ZigBee with the same topic of course first line contains the temperature second doesn't so what happens is that it takes the temperature from the first and second becomes 0 when it doesn't find temperature, it should be sending one sentence.. how to let mqtt sensor ignore value extraction if not a number ?

Make sure that your Z2M config has
advanced:
cache_state: true
cache_state_persistent: true
cache_state_send_on_startup: true
am using plain mqtt sensor
You're using Z2M, no?
no just tasmota sending to my mqtt and am extarcting

Then check to see if it has similar settings
It's apparently not caching the values, which is the problem
okey but Z2M does it allow multiple gateways ?
Hello! I'm new here and new to Discord as well, so, sorry if I'm doing anything wrong.
I have a small question about binding (using ZHA now but could migrate to Z2M if needed)
Is it possible to bind 2 switches together? I have an Aqara T1 (with neutral), also named SSM-U01, and a Sonoff ZBMINI, and would like to bind them together (in one direction or the other), do you know if the protocol or these devices allows that, or if binding is limited to "remotes" and "bulbs"?
Hm, so Im looking at getting 'dimming' working with Z2M and it seems like the logical thing to do is to use the "Brightness_move" payload to handle that but right now Im just using 'state''s in my automation for On-off and the like and Im not sure if you can wrap the brightness_move in that format or would I need to write this as MQTT payload?
(if that makes sense, I've been looking at this so long and reading so much documentation words are losing all meaning ๐
hello everyone based on the recommendation of the team i'v been looking into using the remote adapter option (https://www.zigbee2mqtt.io/advanced/remote-adapter/connect_to_a_remote_adapter.html#_2-b-configure-ser2net-4-0) but i'm struggling to get it working
in ser2net i used for ZZH!
connection: &con01
accepter: tcp,20108
connector: serialdev,/dev/ttyACM0,115200n81,local
options:
kickolduser: true
What do you wish to acomplish with the binding?
Itโs possible then that itโs in Zigbee group 0 and gets triggered by some other (IKEA) remote or motion sensor. You could try the latest Home Assistant beta. Then, make sure to re-pair the device and see if the issue persists
(The betas should include a fix if youโre actually running into that issue)
Ah.. so there is an issue where Ikea motion sensors can trigger stuff in the same group?
Cause i do have Ikea motionsensors and remotes... And lots of them
I'm a bit new to HA. Using supervised on Synology VMM. I purchased a Sonoff ZBDongle-E to use with ZHA. I just have several Aqara devices, considering switching to hue (I have a bunch of Nanoleaf on thread) and then converting my yale locks to ZigBee. Not allot of devices. I plugged in the ZBDongle-E and rebooted the VMM and Synology. Booted up HA and ZHA did not discover the device. I'm guessing this is a firmware issue. I have never updated firmware like this before. It doesn't look like there is much out there on the ZBDongle-E. Any help would be appreciated. I'm stuck for now. Should I try and update firmware or is there something I'M doing wrong in HA?
Did you pass it through to the vm
Is there a similar Zigbee Integration that connects to zwave2mqtt like the ZWave one? My current issue is I'm using the MQTT integration to discover the Zigbee devices, but that also discovers the zwave ones so I have 2x zwave devices
How do you remove a device from Z2MQTT so that when you re-add a device it doesn't remember its previous settings? I'm trying to reset the aqara e1 roller driver but it keeps getting added to the network with the previous settings. As a result I'm unable to set new driver positions for open and close.
Zigbee2MQTT or ZHA are the only options
Why not disable MQTT Discovery in Zwave?
Yea that is my next step. Was just trying to see if there was a similar integration with Zigbee. Thanks
Well, Zigbee2MQTT uses MQTT, but I'm not sure what you mean by "similar integration"
Hello i have a question, i am using deconz/phoscon. And one of my zigbee lights broke today, how can i remove it from home assistant? i don't want to simply hide it, but i can find no way of removing the device completely
Hm.. just to check is MQTT (in regards to Z2M) case sensitive in topic names? For example will it consider /light/office/set, to be the same as /light/Office/set'?
... shoot, I think it is.. and the sensor name is in lowercase
well.. I suppose the better solution would be just to make all the topics lowercase actually.. ๐
Hey folks. Iโm trying to migrate my ZHA network from channel 15 to 25. Iโve bombed the network and added the necessary entry to my config (https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/zha#defining-zigbee-channel-to-use), but it keeps coming back up with channel 15. I saw somewhere that you have to factory reset your coordinator, but Iโm not sure how to do that in my coordinator (https://www.tubeszb.com/product/cc2652_coordinator/39). Can anyone help?
Are you running the latest HA beta?
Switch to the beta and you will be able to download a coordinator backup from the ZHA config page. Edit the channel in the file and restore the backup from the same page.
If you have a large network with many routers there's a way to migrate them as well, it's just not user friendly
Iโm not, but I will happily upgrade if thatโs all it takes.
My network is not that large, so I donโt really mind starting over.
Thanks for the help!
question about switching from ZHA to Z2M - do I have to re-pair all my devices even if I'm using the same dongle?
Most, even if you copy the network settings. If you don't copy the network settings then you'll have to rejoin them all.
Easy, go into phoscon under lights, and click on the device you want to delete. In the upper right corner is a "Delete Device" button (Or something like that, I'm doing this from memory). Once deleted, it is deleted in HA.
@dry shadow i have done that, but the device still shows as an entity under deconz intergration.
No idea, I just did this yesterday and it deleted it from Phoscon and it dropped off my dashboards.
I have a mural switch and a light that are not wired together, so I was thinking to use 2 zigbee modules to link them: one to get the status of the mural switch, and another one to control the light ; but I would like the switch to work even when HA is down.
On both my 2 Zigbee modules, I see no "bindable device" in the "manage clusters" menu...
I have the โ_TZE200_1agwnems", "TS0601โ dimmer (sold in Australia by ozsmartshop) and the dimmer isnโt working fully via ZHA. On/Off are functioning. If I use the slider to set the brightness directly (to any point 0-100) the light turns off. I can see quirks being worked on here but itโs closed as complete https://github.com/zigpy/zha-device-handlers/issues/1302
https://github.com/zigpy/zha-device-handlers/issues/1694 might be related
It's possible that it's an issue in the quirk itself. See the latest comment for more details
I wasn't able to reproduce the issue on my Tuya lest light though (but it also doesn't need to use that quirk).
Can anyone tell me what this means?

What do I need to do to fix it?
Sometimes restarting ja helps it notice an entity is dead and it allows you to remove it
problem solved by: remove the device from Z2MQTT, disabling device join, unscrew the device back plate, put the device in pairing mode so the light is flashing, unplug battery connector. this should fully reset the driver positions. follow the usual steps to set new driver positions, enable joining mode in Z2MQTT then holding the pairing mode button to add the device to Z2MQTT.
confirming that removing the conbee/ZHA integration fixed the issue. thanks!
What is the "Power" attribute in Zigbee2MQTT on a device about page? Just added a plug and it shows unknown.https://i.imgur.com/5rrBUy3.png
It's whether the device is battery or mains powered
Gotcha. Is that something that'd have been picked up in the interview? Just wondering why it might just be showing unknown
Yes, it's handled at interview time
I've got one mains powered device (Gledopto) that shows unknown, and three battery devices (Konke) that do
Gotcha, so might just not be an attribute reported by this device
Or one that it didn't report at interview time
The three Konke devices all have identical units in the mesh that worked fine
Just set up a bunch of sensors in Zigbee2MQTT. The status all looks right in the Zigbee2MQTT UI and technically the description is right in HA, but the "on"/"off" state seems inverted. It's reporting "on" (which usually would resolve to a True) for an open contact. Any idea how to get these statuses reporting correctly? https://i.imgur.com/mjyyHAR.png
That's normal
Apart from setting up template sensors, is it possible to actually make them correct? I've seen there are payload_on/payload_off params somewhere, but it's also not clear if those are (easily) editable for auto-created entities either.
All my door/window sensors, whether Zigbee or Z-Wave, are on for open, and off for closed
That's what HA expects
Suppose I can just use the contact state_attr instead. Just awkward that the state itself is the inverse
Gotcha, I think it's just the association between the "contact" entity (and True for contact would mean that there is contact) and it being a door/window sensor in HA, but it looks like it makes sense as to how it's set up.
What is the difference between these relays by tuya - QS-Zigbee-CP02 v QS-Zigbee-S04-2C-LN?
Both seem to be 2 gang relays
are they named the same?
Hey guys i am new to this
But how should i start to set up my smart house ๐
I only need to turn on and off the light when i get home or leave
And maybe with some morning waking up routines
Is aquara good brand?
Works well here
Pi4 > Pi3
Just about any computer from the last decade > Pi4
I run HA on a 9 year old i5 laptop. Way out performs any Pi, has a built in UPS, and barely draws any more power.
Ahhhh so i should buy a laptop?
J3455 here with 30 docker containers
Buy something second hand, no need for new
still faster than pi
Hi, if you intend for this to be a long term thing then spend the extra and get the rPi4. In the 6 months I've had HA it as grown and now has many integrations, a large zigbee mesh and InfluxDB logging. etc. I'm glad I bought the 4, because it still has plenty of room for growth.
Do i keep it turning on 24/7?
Up to you, I went for the pi4 because the power consumption is just a couple of watts and it has a tiny form factor and sits on a little shelf in a cupboard. One of my goals was to improve energy efficiency in my home, which rule out a laptop/PC/server.
I see
If you turn off the computer running HA you have no home automation, and your Zigbee mesh will fail
Ah i might get the pi4 then
If you do, buy an SSD for it, and a powered USB hub for the SSD
i wonder what is the real power consumption of a rpi4 with ssd running HAOS
Heya can someone help me? I am using ConBee II and am getting this in my logs:

I have no issue what is causing this as I have no Thermostat nor do I know how to fix it as I am not super experienced
is that supposed to be an answer?
I dont know what you mean by - named the same?
do they have the same name in your zigbee integration?
Oh, I dont have both of them. I only own the CP02. I was wondering if there is any difference between them or are they just re-packaged differently?
they have different manufacturerid and modelid
with what integration do you have the CP02 working with
ZHA
So being unable to solve my problem, I switched from Z2M to ZHA, my lights (known in Z2M as ZB-RGBCW by Lonsonho Firmware) are now reporting as "ZB-CL01 by eWeLight". And, they are turning on and off with scenes as expected. Hooray, ZHA succeeds where I was unable to make Z2M work!
Except
2 of the 4 bulbs I've added to the network so far don't appear to support any reporting. I am only able to change the color LEDs; the temperature slider (and therefore the bright LEDs) don't show up. In Config>Devices>The_Problem_Bulbs, there is no "Confguration" card either.
Can I manually duplicate the parameters of the other lights (and where do I do that if so), or does anybody know of a better solution?
I don't seem to be able to insert pictures into this channel.
Are you saying they support color temperature but arenโt showing the controls?
Bingo, 2 of the 4 identical bulbs do have color temperature controls, the other 2 just show the RGB wheel.
On the ones that donโt have the control can you go to the manage clusters dialog and read the color temperature attribute from the color cluster
Oh, finally found it
Pick color in the first list, then color_temperature in the 2nd list and click read attribute
get zigbee attribute?
Yep
I got a value, 333
do it for the other one then restart
You did this on one without the temperature control right?
454 this time
Affirmative
ok after both are done restart HA
all set?
- Why didn't that happen automatically?
- That one with the value of 370, does that mean it's not as capable as the 454 one?
- You're a rockstar, thanks.
something either failed during pairing OR the bulbs donโt accurately report color temperature support via the color capabilities attribute. I need to look at the code to make sure we donโt have a hole somewhere
2 - no just means the bulbs are currently at different temps
Man, if only I'd gotten this to work so easily in Z2M. Regardless, looks like ZHA is gonna do perfectly for me now. Thanks D, you legend.
@violet dagger late to the party, but the Raspberyy pi 4 barely draws measurable power. I tested mine when i bought it, it fluctuates between 2 watts to 4 watts, which is insanely good. had HA on a Ryzen system before, it drawed 70-100 watt idle.
This is off topic, but that ryzen system should draw less than half that if configured properly. Maybe you had a video card installed you're not accounting for.
Question for anyone using the Sonoff Zigbee 3.0 USB dongle with zigbee2mqtt: Do you guys update the firmware on the device or use it straight out of the box? What are the pros / cons for not updating?
I have the TI based one, and I always update it
There are usually fixes that are introduced, but it's not like it ever had a problem
What Ryzen system?
I am looking to get notified when a zigbee device drops off the network or goes offline. I've currently got the last_seen attributes all visible but I have yet to find a proper way to track this. Any suggestions?
If your Zigbee integration supports availability that's the best approach
Zigbee2MQTT does
I'm pretty sure ZHA does too
Yeah and just realised this question is more for automations i guess, since all corresponding data is in HA already
I'm on Z2M
Enable Availability and you can use the entity state of unavailable
Cheers
So i've recently started using ControllerX to control my zigbee remotes and lights mainly for the smooth dimming. The IKEA rotary knob for example works great with it. How are you guys implementing the zigbee remotes to replicate OEM like quality in dimming?
Binding
Yeah I'm using binding on some devices but for some reason it gets out of sync. 1 remote bound to a group of 4 bulbs. After some time itll change 2 of the bulbs to a different color than 2 others. Weird stuff
ah okay. was just checking mine thinking i had ryzen but i run an Athlon 3000G
system draws like 20-30w of power running couple of vms and 8 docker containers
@dry lichen. That is impressive. The cpu wasn't taking much. But the 1050ti for display output and the ram made it draw more. Yours has intergrated graphics which is a huge bonus
Ah yeah there you go. I specifically went for a chip with integrated graphics as this thing is running headless anyway. No applications running that would warrant a proper GPU anyway!
Yeah. This computer also doubles as a moonlight client to receive nvidia gamestreams to the big screen. Dunno if the 1050ti make a difference though. Either way, i was thinking of buying an intergrated new system. But trying a raspberrypi for the first time became rhe choice due to curiosity
Well if you're ever looking for a tiny build, look up the DeskMini A300 - that's what I use and it's flawless imho
@dry lichen will do if i need one
Uh, one of my IKEA buttons just bound to my Aqara power plug. I can't find anything in Z2M regarding this pairing - how do i even start to troubleshoot this?
I've got a few end devices that aren't attached to the most logical place in my mesh, like the door sensor in my shed being attached to a bulb in the kitchen even though the bulb in the shed is a much more logical choice. If I run a reconfigure, will the sensor's place in the mesh also be reconsidered or do I need to delete it and add it again in place?
Is it an Aqara EU MAEU01 smart plug (aka SP-EUC01)?
ZHA has a fix for this now. For Z2M, try making the plug leave group 0.
The issue is that all IKEA remotes need to be in a group with group id 0, so the coordinator "properly gets their commands".
For whatever reason, some Aqara plugs are also in group 0 by default. That's why you want to make the Aqara plug leave that group.
If that issue always occurs after re-pairing, maybe also create an issue in the appropriate Z2M repo, so the bug can be fixed for everyone.
(Fix should be relatively simple: just send a leave request (for group 0) to the plug when it's joining)
Darn it Iโm on Z2M. I have a default group but it doesnโt seem to have any members nor can I delete or change it
It might be possible to make the plug leave group 0 by sending some MQTT messages (don't know if/how)
Or is it possible to create a group with id 0, then "add" the device and make it leave using the UI?
I'd probably create an issue anyway
Hi I'm.using sonoff zigbee on HA. Anyway to increase the connection distance
Buy Zigbee routers
Most mains powered devices will do that. The known exceptions are:
- Sengled bulbs
- Many two-wire switch/dimmers
- The Xiaomi mmWave sensor
๐
Thanks. Not sure what to do with this though. How do I help troubleshoot?
any other people having the ikea blinds suddently show open and close the wrong way round?
funny thing too last one i needed arrived today to take total to 6, I just paired it and thats fine open and close is correct, tried repairing others, they are still the wrong way round lol.
The 1.27 Z2M update introduced that for many people
strange that a brand new blind paired does not have the issue, made me re pair the others but they are still backwards lol. my ocd with it is driving me mad even though i know it will get updated, any way to add code to customize to change it until its fixed?
Anyone know any way to use a lumi.gateway.v3 as the Zigbee Hub on my Home Assistant? Possibly to connect with ZHA?
I have a few Xiaomi Switches I wanna connect as Zigbee devices since importing them via Mi Home > MioT integration those switches don't import lumi.sensor_switch.v2 . Thank you!
or you can remove it from aqara app and see if you get the home kit controller notification
I really can't find a way to integrate those lumi.sensor_switch.v2 on HA. I'm desperating lol.
I really want to use those Single Xiaomi Buttons to sync with other stuff but doesn't seem to work. I also have a MI Hub (Eu Model) lumi.gateway.mgl03 that I can use for a "workaround". It's really a matter of finding a way to make 'em work with Automations too. I've been googling for hours but I guess my inexperience is catching up on me again.
Literally every single other device / sensor gets recognized AND integrated. The switches are recognised but don't integrate afterwards (the setup on MiOT)
If I can do the firmware trick with the Hub that's also a possible workaround.
is the hub not the home kit version?
I don't have Apple. That why I never really touched HomeKit.
I have Android (Specifically Samsung Ecosystem with Phone, Watch, Buds and Tablet).
you dont need apple
did the hub have homekit on the box and is there a home kit code on the bottom?
I honestly don't remember, but I'm pretty sure something HomeKit related popped up yesterday
Yes, it does! One of those "Discovery" in Integrations, is suggesting me the Hub.
I've always ignored those cus I was like: this = apple lol
if you remove the hub from aqara you can add it into ha by that discovery (pair code is on the bottom of the hub)
Remove from MI Home you mean?
yep the the discovery will pop up again.
And then I add the devices through HA and not Mi Home anymore?
then anything connected to that hub that is compatible will pop up and yes thats correct
its worth a try
I'm gonna give it a try at home, thank you so much for your time!
When I load map in Zigbee2MQTT there are two Gledopto devices saying Failed to execute LQI for 'X'. Why is that? It's https://www.zigbee2mqtt.io/devices/GL-C-008-1ID.html#gledopto-gl-c-008-1id and https://www.zigbee2mqtt.io/devices/GL-C-008-2ID.html#gledopto-gl-c-008-2id
Good morning ๐ Iโm going to be setting up my HA in a few months and was doing some research around in-wall zigbee compliant switches with a dimmer (US). Looks like Enbrighten and Leviton are the main options correct?
Also Iโm going to using the HA yellow. With that since the board has zigbee built in, I wonโt be needing a zigbee hub correct?
it will be the hub
Hello guys!, finally my GU10 zigbe leds are here and I'm happy to say that they work
item 3256803866301301 on aliexpress :3
using ZHA btw
what is the model and manufacturer reported
Check out innovelli too they have an in wall switch about to come out and have worked with HA users in their beta testing and pushed quirks and handlers for both zha and z2m (I believe) as well as created a firmware repo for updates.
Ah amazing thank you!
Kaiye Store, I don't know the model but I think they're the only GU10 zigbee, not the best by far but they do the job pretty well with zha and sonoff 3.0 dongle
mi limitation was 220v
Why don't you check the model in the ZHA device card?
looking up 3256803866301301 on ali they show as KAIYE (Tuya)
Look out on Aliexpress and you can find a boatload of cheap mini pc's with 1TB of storage and 16gb RAM for $299 shipped. These are way better than a PI.
I'm talking about the Zigbee model and manufacturer id
Hello! I've been trying to figure out how to make a blueprint work on a zigbee group based on entity ID. Would it be possible to get a group hexadecimal number from the group's entity id? I found that you can get the IEEE from (device_attr("light.name", "identifiers")|list).0.1}} from one of the forum posts, but I'm not sure how you would get endpoint information for a single device or group number information.
I can get a group ieee from that command on the group, but I can't issue commands using the ieee and no endpoint, and I can't use zha.issue_zigbee_group_command on an ieee from what I can tell.
Don't really know why people keep bringing up that Raspberry Pi is less powerful when it comes to HA. For this particular use case, the performance is network bound rather than CPU bound. The network latency is orders of magnitude slower than any CPU. Yes you can run HA even in a supercomputer. Other than making the UI faster, it won't help with the network latency.
With a larger memory that is available with Pi4, they seem to be the perfect candidate for HA. Is there any evidence that a Pi4 can't keep up with HA?
Not really very Zigbee related, but ... a Pi4 (with SSD) is an ok starter platform. The other Pi devices not so much.
It's not hard to run into performance issues on a Pi3, particularly I/O of some form, but RAM is easy to exhaust
There's some discussion above. So I'm just curious. What makes it a starter and not a production platform? Is there any technical reason or it's just a gut feeling?
Well, it does have performance limits
Also, SD cards are absolutely terrible
If you're working within the limits of the platform, the Pi4 is fine, but it's not that hard to exceed them, particularly if you start working with any form of image processing
I found that HA was significantly snappier overall when I moved off of a Pi3 and onto a VM on an old i5 laptop
Plus, these days with the price of a Pi, you're going to get way more "bang for buck" on a second hand PC from the last decade
I see. Was it the UI that's snappier? Or the operations as well?
@hearty gorge When using Discord's Reply feature it defaults to pinging the person you reply to, which can get frustrating for the target. Use Shift + click on the Reply option, or click @ ON to @ OFF to stop this - on the right side of the compose bar.
You have to change this every time (thank the Discord devs for that).
The UI not so much, the operations yes
(though, anything involving entity history in the UI was snappier)
There's also no shortage of posts from others who've moved off of a Pi who've said the same thing
Perhaps it should be considered a gateway instead of a device? Am I barking up the wrong tree here? I've been looking at the entity.py file in the zha components directory.
I understand. Just trying to understand whether it's sensible or "I'm bored and I need a new device to tinker" with thing
It's a practical experience thing
Also, we see lots of people trying to use a Pi Zero or OG Pi...
Whats the range of a zigbee adapter? I am planning to set up HA on a server running in the basement and I need to be able to control devices there, and the 2 floors above it, as well as possibly in the garage which is a separate building. I have a feeling that this will not work with signal range, and if so, what is the solution here?
Zigbee hard wired devices will act as mesh/network repeaters/extenders. Exceptions are Gledopto bulbs, loads of wired wall switches, and Aqara mmWave sensor
That's what i'm using. Tube is in this discord too. Out of stock tho:
Currently out of stock of PoE Modules. Modules are on order and estimated to ship out to me on Sept 12. I expect to have them around the 20th if all goes well. Please utilize the waiting list if you'd like first dibs when I have more. I will contact those on the waiting list before listing for general sale.
those look nice, whats the range like on them and how well do they go through walls?
also am i correct in understanding that you can use multiple of them?
or for this would i just get one of them, and then get routers for the rest?
Legit no idea, Iโve got so much bulbs itโs no issue. You can add more routers, heโs got a category for those as well but youโre likely fine with just some bulbs or smart plugs
My big concern is the garage. Aside from it having no wired network connection it is also not insulated which means i could be getting temps of below 0 to over 100 through out the course of the year. Not sure how well any hardware would hold up against that, especially with a 3d printed case. Do you know if they are made with ABS or something less temp resistant?#MidwestWeather
In term of ease of use and set up, is there much difference between conbee2 or Sonoff 3.0? Iโm looking to add some aqara sensors and maybe expand after I learn more
I just got a Sonoff 3.0 Plus-E and was super easy to set up Z2M and pair all my devices with
I believe this is true, you'll have a single coordinator, and ideally multiple routers to help the mesh
I believe PLA, which survives 0-100 just fine. I only find it deforms when under stress and at like 140F+, which I hope your garage does not reach ๐.
good to know, i have a feeling i would need to put a router in the house as close the the garage as i could, then another in the garage.
I will have more PoE sooner than the 12th. got some boards in working through the waiting list now.
have only only seen or heard one customer who had issues with the cases, one showed up deformed after sitting in a Norway post office for a few weeks. someone else mentioned some deformation but I didn't see any pictures. or know any details. I used PLA+ so it has a slightly higher temp for deforming.
Does anyone have any experience with the SONOFF S31 Lite ZB smart plugs (https://sonoff.tech/product/smart-plug/s31-lite-zb/)?
I bought 4 of them in the hopes that they would help improve my Zigbee network, but they seemed to only make things worse. Child devices never seemed to stay connected to them and all of my Aqara light switches (https://www.aqara.com/us/smart_switch_no_neutral.html) began dropping off the network and failing to re-pair. I bombed my network, migrated to channel 25 to minimise wifi interference, and re-added everything. Unfortunately, nothing seemed to change the fact that things (mostly) worked before I added the news plugs, didnโt work when I had them, and started working again when I removed them.
I figure they are just bad routers, incompatible with my Aqara light switches, or Iโm simply doing something wrong. I wanted to confirm with the experts here before I gave up, returned them, and tried to find something else instead.
Any thoughts or insights are appreciated.
Anyone know if the hue dimmer works with the hue button multiple press thing when on z2m?
Hey everyone! So I'm seeing a weird behavior from ZHA, perhaps someone can clue me in as to why this is: I have an IKEA smart bulb (https://www.ikea.com/nl/en/p/tradfri-led-bulb-e27-1055-lumen-wireless-dimmable-white-spectrum-globe-opal-white-40486783/) that can have its color temperature adjusted, and I had added it and it worked fine. Since I am experimenting and learning, I eventually removed the device.
I then added a (now no longer available) E14 bulb from the same line that can only change the intensity, not the temp, and this too works fine
But I now re-added the original color temp change capable bulb and the available controls match the E14 lamps, not what it had originally made available! So it lacks color temp level completely, along with other things. It seems it is being matched to the incorrect version maybe? Not sure if zigbee devices added this way are subject to introspection to check the available controls, or matched against a static configuration on zigpy, and I am now starting to investigate a bit deeper, though if anyone has thoughts on this that may help, I would certainly appreciate them!
Hey, i have the problem that a device is triggering the wrong events in zha. In zigbee2mqtt the devices works fine. How can i fix this issue. Is there a "How to add device support" Guide for the zha repo ?
What do you mean itโs triggering the wrong events?
they wonโt necessarily match z2m
Can you go to the manage clusters dialog on the device card in the overflow menu, pick the color cluster and read the color temp attribute? Let me know if it returns a value
it does, 370, as do the physical min and max (250..454), setting it changes nothing though
Just HA
done, let me know what else to do to help here, as I am actually helping myself, of course
do the controls show up now
not on the device page, sorry, of course I needed to share that
so the device page is unchanged, I wasnยดt aware it was calculated dynamically on restart, that's good to know. Is there a way to log that introspection?
@tropic depot I have a few log lines to share, what's the appropriate medium to do so here?
Pi's are fine...their storage device (SD Card) is not. SD cards were never designed for constant read/writes. SD cards will fail. If you want to use one, feel free, just be ready for an outage. Have a spare SD, and have backups saved off the device.
Hey, has anyone here had any experience with an unexpected shutdown and then their zigbee gateway's connection to everything becoming either unresponsive or sluggish? I am using a Phoscon Conbee 2 USB gateway passed through to a HA VM
No, mine has been rock solid.
Is it possible that the devices acting as routers could be experiencing problems after such an event and they in turn aren't performing as I would expect?
Hello guys! My zigbee is not starting up and returning this errors in the log "https://pastebin.com/aiFSACBm" It also shows "502: Bad Gateway" in the UI. Before this error came, I had the can't connect to the adapoter error, witch i fixed by adding "adapter: deconz"
No idea, I'm not really sure what is under the covers, mine just works.
In this file:
/config/.storage/core.config_entries
I added this line:
โhostโ: โcore-deconzโ
And it worked fine...you can ping the name using the Terminal in HA and you can see if it will work for you.
Not sure if best channel to ask or of it something general, but does the new/future ZHA backup/restore also work on migrating from raspi to odroid or something? Or is that irrelevant because its still a Linux OS and all it needs is a /dev/usb something to the dongle?
Just wondering how flexible it is. Not an actual use case at the moment.
If you're moving the dongle then there's no need to worry about it
Take the HA backup and the dongle and everything will go with you
(that's already the case)
Yeah, true that.
Thanks for thinking with/for me. ๐
The default restore is already a very epic experience.
Where should i add it ? Its alot of stuff in there
You're not using deCONZ so I don't think that suggestion is relevant
I mean, if you want to break HA, go ahead and add it
In the original post they referenced deCONZ. My assumption was they were using the deCONZ Integration.
Ahh fuck, this problem is pissing me off, i cant find the solution anywhere, i am so sick of it, last time i did it, worked like a charm
deCONZ is one of three integrations that can use the Conbee adapter
And adapter: deconz is a setting for Zigbee2MQTT
That said, 502: Bad Gateway is how HA tells you an add-on isn't running
Failed at the zigbee2mqtt@1.18.1 start script
You do know you're a long long long way behind in releases?
I just dowloaded it like normal, thats wierd
You're using the add-on, the wrong add-on
I don't know what guide you followed, but it wasn't anything official
The official Zigbee2MQTT docs
Any time you're installing anything, use the docs written by the developers unless you know better
Thank you!
Getting this when starting, cant see any solutions at the url they give https://pastebin.com/RLSP9vXf
And yes, this is the right one๐
You need ... more log lines
Up the log level to info, or debug, and try again
You've still got it on a USB extension cable, away from the computer and any WiFi/USB devices
100% 70cm away
Sry about the ping again
Looks like it worked with a reboot
Nvm, it crashed again right after
Its like i restart the ha, it works, and then after 3 minutes its going back to bad gateway
What does your Z2M configuration.yaml look like (remember, use a code share site)
Other than deCONZ I have no idea what's going wrong
What about the deCONZ ?
Can I ask how ZHA is updated? If I got an issue closed on ZHAs github, they add it to a release and the newest release always added to the next HA core version update? Thanks
Simple PRs usually make it into the next point release. Complex ones usually make it into the next major release, after the beta.
Though ZHA itself is split into different repositories. If something gets fixed in zigpy or a radio library, it won't make it into Home Assistant Core until an update to ZHA's dependencies is made.
@sour shadow I know I shouldn't be @ you but I found the problem, and just wanted to thank you for the insane work you do in this discord. Love you! (The problem was that i had configured the conbee in integrations)
we really need to devise a way to prevent that w/ HA
or at least detect it and throw up banners or obnoxious logs every 5 seconds
so many ppl do this
Yeah, the number of times I see people with more than one of the trifecta and a single stick, and everything broken...
Certainly more than one a week of late, it feels like one every day or two...
one of the side effects of making things approachable / easy
folks click all the things ๐
well doesnt hass autodiscover try to get noobs setup with zha right away?
i followed a guide on youtube and first thing the guy said was dont click the integration suggestion
lol
hey all, does anyone have a good ZB relay to use with HA? I bought 2 sonoff zbminis but people have since scared me away from using them since they are only 10A (in my 15A cirbuit) and cheap chinese devices
i know shelly 1 would work but i was hoping for ZB based
if not a relay, maybe a good ZB switch would work. Preferrably not an enbrighten one thats $40+
Hello. I am in need of help. I am running Home Assistant Supervised on Debian.
I have been using ZHA. One of my devices was not supported by it so I tried switching to Zigbee2mqtt. I have disabled ZHA when doing so. After switching, my Zigbee Sonoff Dongle was not able to identify any device and it would create error messages when pairing. For that reason I tried to switch back to ZHA.
To my surprise, all of my devices are shown as "unavailable".
I tried to do a hard recovery to a previous stage before I began instalation, but the problem persists.
The Debian Terminal states the error message "cp210x ttyUSB0: failed set request (0x12 status: -19)
are you running in a VM or is your Debian machine native?
Debian Machine Native
I have a new clue
So the OS is finding the Dongle connected as it should be
but HaSS isn't
it shows the Dongle to be last online a long time ago
i was getting similar messages and it required a full restart. Not just from within HA. At the console of my vm (I assume SSH would work as well), I had to do a โhost shutdownโ. Give it a few minutes and rhe machine shuts off. Then turn it back on and give it a few minutes to boot
sorry, that expends my expertise
i checked if the OS can find it (it can) and then if hass can find it (it can not)
thanks anyway
did gou try removing ZHA and re-installing?
I tried disabling and enabling
I also tried removing and re-adding
the next logical step would be to re-install everything
but that's a big pain
Hi all, for a little while now my sonoff usb3 zibee dongle is able to be detected but im unable to pair any devices when I intiate pairing and look at the logs all i see is [0x0000:zdo] ZDO request ZDOCmd.Mgmt_Permit_Joining_rsp: [<Status.SUCCESS: 0>]
[0x0000:zdo] No handler for ZDO request:ZDOCmd.Mgmt_Permit_Joining_rsp([<Status.SUCCESS: 0>]). I was hoping the upgrade today would bring some enhencements but seems not. I tried upgrading the dongle firmware, purchased a new usb dongle , removed and added intergration but its never able to pair any zibee. Anyone had this happened?
If you have launched Z2M then it overwrote your stick's network settings
The good news is that Home Assistant 2022.9.0 includes ZHA backup and restore so click on the "Migrate Radio" button and restore your coordinator state to the way it was before you launched Z2M
There are no known issues with joining new devices. What are you trying to join to your network? Is your Sonoff stick on a USB extension cable and away from any SSDs and USB 3.0 ports?
Wait.. SSDs?!
Do sata ports cause a bunch of interference too?
SSDs connected over USB seem to cause problems for nearby Zigbee coordinators
SATA I'm not sure about, but my coordinator usually sits on a metal chassis full of various types of drives and I've not experienced issues so it could only be USB
does it work if i upgrade now?
i haven't upgraded yet - i'm running the last 2022.8 version
Backups were being created in the background since 2022.8.0
Ok. Attempting the upgrade
Hi folks, I've been seeing a lot of dropouts on my ZigBee network recently. I shifted my coordinator to a more central location (just finished a major extension to our house), but that probably delinked some devices previously directly connected to the coordinator. So now I'm considering the nuclear option of recreating the whole network from scratch. If I do this, I can switch from ZHA to Z2M. Other than the range of devices supported and functionality through the UI, is there any advantage of Z2M over ZHA in terms of stability?
Stability-wise, no, not unless you move your coordinator again into the middle of the house and run Z2M on the device it's plugged into (in the middle of your house). You may benefit from using an ethernet-connected coordinator instead, since it doesn't have to be plugged into the computer HA is running on. Or DIY it with ser2net/socat, a Pi, and your existing USB stick.
The only difference is the choice of default channel. ZHA uses 15, Z2M uses 11.
If you happen to have a WiFi device on a non-standard channel (i.e. not 1/6/11), it'll overlap with your Zigbee channel if you use 15.
Thanks. In that case it may be less drastic to stay with ZHA even after reforming the network, the main aim being to improve stability.
i thought there was overlap between 2.4ghz and zigbee regardless
one of the reasons i chose channel 25 was due to it having the least interference with 1/6/11 based on a chart i found
Zigbee is 2.4GHz so yes, but most WiFi routers prefer to stick to channels 1, 6, or 11 (since they don't overlap), and Zigbee channels 15, 20, and 25 sit between them
even with HT40 band width?
Yup I've alr deconflicted the ZigBee and wifi channels. The issue I think is a combination of moving the coordinator and the environment (lots of concrete walls and possible interference from neighbours. And for some reason the network stability degrades overnight).
after him moving his stick wouldnt he have completed fucked all his routes tho?
Not if you double the channel width, no
or does zha/z2m both heal over time?
wouldnt you say that using ht40 is pretty common tho -.-
Of the 13 networks I can see right now, all of the 2.4GHz networks are using 20MHz channels
if you're in an apartment or around people that just use isp crap then ya that makes sense lol
I'm also a bit wary of adding mqtt into the ZigBee workflow. Yet another point of potential failure. But so many people like its features...
i moved straight from hue hub to z2m and like it.. but i agree i dont love the whole "mqtt in the middle" part of it
it works fine, but it just feels wrong
Run a Zigbee energy scan to be sure: https://github.com/zigpy/zigpy-cli/#performing-an-energy-scan. Installation instructions are at the top, disable ZHA before running it.
I tried it. It still has problems. All my devices are still unavailable. I tried reconfiguring a device, reconfiguration was complete but it didn't help. I also tried to remove a device and to it again. I have done it and succesfully paired it - and it worked....for a few seconds. Then the device stopped working. It was a switch. I was able to use it 2 times and then it stopped working.
What specifically did you try?
You will have to go to the ZHA integration's "Configure" page and click on the "Migrate Radio" button. After selecting the serial port (the default is fine, since it's your current radio), you will be presented with choices regarding your network settings. What does the "restore automatic backup" one show? What do your current ZHA network settings look like?
I tried restoring the backup from the new version
Yes I did this.
Some devices are coming online
but most of them are still unavailable
but it's progress
Sensors won't come back online until they check in again, which may take an hour
@austere patio when he moved his zigbee stick wouldnt that have kept a bunch of old non-ideal routes unless he did some kind of network heal?
talking about daniel above
Most routers send something every 15 minutes so they'll show up eventually too. If old devices are showing up then the settings are correct again, just give it time.
There's nothing you can do to "heal" the network with Zigbee. Devices do that on their own (if they do it).
so you'd rejoin devices after moving it?
Well my door sensors are live and they're unavilable
so are my IKEA motion sensors and they're also unavailable
my Philips motion sensors work though
Are they devices you re-joined?
my Osram switch also doesn't work (it worked for a few seconds when I tried rejoining it)
re-joined in what sense?
Did you factory reset them and join them again to your network, or did they just start working on their own?
