I only use mine for running monitor, since it's small enough to be unobtrusive in the living room. Everything else runs on an NUC in my study.

They're nice toys for people learning computing and they're okay as an entry-level computer if you can't afford better... but they're underpowered compared to just about anything else.

Fortunately, nothing critical is solely on my Home Assistant setup. I made sure that everything is still easily operable if HA goes down. Which it started to do on the pi3, hence the (minor) upgrade.

I also have a couple of old PCs lying around, but the fans are loud enough to be annoying and the power consumption when running 24/7 is horrendous. A NUC type computer would be nice, but the Pi ticked the low cost/low power consumption boxes for me with my current budget being practically nil. Those PCs will be donated to a local school if they want them, otherwise they will go on Freecycle of some such, since they have no reasonable monetary value.

acoustic cloud I have completed my upgrade from a Raspberry Pi 3 with SD card, to A Pi 4 runnin...

MQTT server & DNS server. Hell, you can take a bunch of rPi3s and make them into a MQTT cluster. Well, that's what I do anyhow. They're also great for LightshowPi controllers during the holidays.

Ooohhhh... I like! We use Shopify (grumble SCREW Shopify) for our public e-commerce, but we suck in all their data into our own systems. I just spent all week writing lambdas that gen graphql queries to get pretty much everything out of Shopify and stuff it into S3 buckets. Then, API GW calls other lambdas to parse and return relevant portions to internal apps.

What domain registrar are you using and why? I am still with Eurodns. I don't have any hosting, just DNS, nothing else.
I'd like to setup letsencrypt as well. Did any of you switch to one of the supported dns providers or is there another way to setup letsencrypt as well without using http?

dyndns or even localdns works fine as well with me. Currently i have setup HA with just a hostname and VPN for my home subnet autimatiscally enabling when I leave my wifi. In this way HA is always reachable.
I migh even leave it like that because it just works, but am looking if there are better registrars than eurodns.

I own a domain which i use for email. Currently hosted by google google apps standard (early adopter so still free for my domain). No website currently. And I use home assistant obviously. Was also looking into optiong using a subdomain with my domain to resolve home assistant with SSL.

In my iOS Home app I now have two bridges. My real Hue bridge and a HASS bridge which now duplicates everything. What do you guys recommend ?? Delete the hue bridge out of my Home app and just use HASS ?

I bought a 5v unifi switch to be used on my ups so i can share ha and the nas. The thought was to run a low power switch and being able to communicate between the nas and ha in case of no power. Enough time to send surveillance pictures and using the nut service for graceful shutdown of the Nas while ha can run longer

i really don't care on what others play, or do their work, or surf their internets, all platforms work. Obviously pc beats any console with the power and graphics. I was previously on Xbox but hopped to PS as i got a used one from a ex-colleague, can't say if neither is better or worse in comparison. I actually started to want an old console to get the max payne into it, watched yesterday the movie, can't really remember the game series at all

I love it when SaaSs and Apps have improvement suggestions boards for users to post bugs/features they'd like etc
