RED have an online tool where you can put in different sensors and lenses

The focal length for a lens is the same no matter what camera it's on, it's just the sensor dictates the crop factor

Imagine if you had a projector shooting an image on the wall,

You could think of the focal length of the lens being the distance from the projector to the wall

And the sensor size is the size of the projector screen you decide to put up

The width/height of the projection on the wall is a characteristic of the projector but is not strictly bound by distance to the wall,

So a lens that's strictly made for smaller sensors can't be used on larger sensors, because the projection isn't big enough to cover it

But you can use a smaller sensor on a larger projection

But the actual "look" of the photons leaving the lens will be the same, just cropped in

Depth of field gets even trickier,

There's only a single absolute distance that things are truly in focus, but the points before and after that will be practically in focus depending on aperture, focal length and circle of confusion

I just installed my Hue motion sensor outside. I'm glad I went with 'er, a few neat settings I can do remotely.

now I just need 4 more feet of ladder to replace the bulbs above it

So it seems the indoor sensors I have are able to be modded for faster timeouts. That is neat.

hopefully it sticks. I used this tape on brick. I mounted my cams with it and it has worked really well. Before though, I put a piece of tape on it and then ripped it off a bit later to remove the dirt and then put a fresh piece. I didn't do that this time but it is much lighter.

What I did was graph area sensors for sometime using grafana and checked the deviation from call to temp/temp. Then use area temp sensor to statistics sensor. Statistics sensors to min max. Min max as the generic thermostat sensor. Max age of stat sensor varies on vent size and time to reach call temp. As I said takes a few weeks of collecting data and dialing it in. Even without any fine tuning far better than next or ecobee.

hard to tell but a 10 degree difference between rooms (that have vents) is a sign something is wrong

it would be normal if say the thermostat is on the third floor and the first floor was 10 degrees colder etc

I can see the benefit of blueprints as a teaching tool. Or blueprints to quickly knock out duplicates for yourself.

For the latter, it feels like a copy/paste is just as good.
