Legit question now, with the hate for internal cameras, how do you verify fire detectors otherwise? Either yourself or to the alarm company. Here in Sweden, if they see smoke on the picture that a camera sends, at the same time as a fire alarm (residential) they can call 112 directly, otherwise it is a guard that goes out to look, or phone call to customer.

Would an "alarm armed = cameras inside work, alarm disarmed = cameras inside don't work" and "fire alarm = active enables inside cameras" be okay for you lot?

Genuinely curious because I want to have brand verification, but not the potential snooping (this is a blue iris setup via openvpn btw, not some proprietary thibg like ring etc)

I work with alarms in Sweden, if I set off a fire alarm and the fire bregade comes and it isn't an actual fire there are normally fines. Like 2500 euro.

Buildings normally have "real" fire alarms with monitored alarm sending etc, so when the fire alarm goes they think it is real. Resedential, people don't seem to care

Was at a large warehouse and coincidentally the fire alarm got set off, was a dirty detector in one of the transformer rooms. Glad I did not have to clean it.

Anyway, fire bregade comes and someone gets their wallet out.

And also, yes I would expect a fire too, I use proper smoke detectors, or combi smoke/ temperature detectors, but there are always situations where it is best to know. Might end up with fire bregade tearing down doors etc to get inside and there is no fire. Specifically if you are not at home, of course.

Was also thinking of a physical thing like turns off the poe ports on the switch, or such, not just blanking a camera. Haven't come up with a good way to solve the issue yet
