Off topic question but someone may have an answer to it, is there any way to abuse my Amazon echo to play a sound, triggered from a Linux machine? I have a custom made smart doorbell which executes any arbitrary command in Linux, so ideally I want to be able to run a command, and have something come out of the echo. Hi there - I have some (serious) issues upgrading my ha installation. I get "404: Not found" (plain text) and my ha not working. I have done some research and can see, the issue happens between 0.107.0b3 and 0.107.0b4 - I've compared the diff between the versions (https://github.com/home-assistant/core/compare/0.107.0b3...0.107.0b4) but can't see where it happens. so the fan on my debian machine can report its RPM properly, but when I try to enable manual control with pwmconfig it spins the fan up to max speed as expected, but then it reads as -1 RPM. i can't find anything related to solving this. anyone have any ideas?

i want to tweak the fan curve to be more aggressive since it runs a little hot

oddly, hwmon2/pwm1 reports 255, but the fan RPM is displayed as -1, so pwmconfig then thinks the fan can't be controlled manually

hey everyone, im still rather new to home automation. i ota flashed several smart plugs to tasmota & enabled auto discovery with "setoption19 1" along with a couple shelly ones on mqtt.... but for the life of me i cant get them to show up in the broker after folloing "the hook up"s beginners guide. what am i missing?
im running hassio on proxmox if it makes a diffrence

ok, i do that on my network as well, I use a RFC1918 alias with the following networks 10.0.0.0/8, 172.16.0.0/12, 192.168.0.0/16

then block anything that is NOT that rule

guess I don't have an example of that but anyway, edit that rule, keep your source IP, edit the destination and do an invert match of RFC1918

here is one where i block access to RFC1918

if i ticked the invert match for destination it would then block to all non-RFC1918 aka the internet

has worked fine for me for years

(when i'm only connected via a cellular connection)

it seems like the xiaomi servers are still able to reach into my network to connect with the hub.

do i need a rul on the WAN interface of pfsense to block some kind of incoming traffic?

i thought that was blocked by default.

@sour escarp I figured it out eventually.. The firewall rule was working but there were still some states in pfsense that were active from before the firewall rule was created. After i cleared the states, the rule is working great.

I was looking for a tool that directly puts the files in my gdrive but it looks like all tools I came across yet do not really work eventhough they tell so (or it may just take ages and I do not run my PC's 24/7). So now I just use Google Backup and Sync and any tool should be able to just backup to the folder of gdrive then. Altough I want them to be encrypted towards Google..

I also just want basic system and file backups and be able to restore a single file from a date of X
