@unreal orbit we impose line limit to prevent code walls - Discord also has a limit, where it only allows 2000 characters per message. Currently the Mods can post beyond the limit, and bot doesn't care. Not that Mods ever did or do that. We can have a dedicated channel, biggest problem is people don't follow simple directions, and having a channel with no line limit is not going to solve the problem as they already posted their stuff, that has been moved by bot to pastebin or something.

Yes… just enable a Hubitat Z-Wave device via MQTT with my app and use that in HA. Initially it only supports onoff and dim/level devices but will be expanded. Soon I will implement HA discovery too so it would then just appear in HA.

Yeah, you'd point both Home Assistant and Hubitat at the same broker

Then, if Hubitat doesn't support MQTT discovery, you'll manually configure the devices

It looks like that hass.io mehtod has plugins so its slightly different. Also I can see that since I installed the synology package yesterday there is a new update available but I don't see how to update this through synology DSM?

I'm getting that feeling now Bloods. Just some initial confusing with everything. Just with a few clicks on the synology package for home assistant, and it was up and running and auto detected/ was able to control my Bose Sound Touch speaking which I had never thought would ever be compatible... So now I'm fairly keen to dive a bit deeper and work out how to configure this more but struggling a bit. (I also don't see how to get to the configuration file with the synology package)... My first dive was going to install the BOM Weather add on and I've failed at that

Long shot, to summarise I love HA so much at home, I want to put it in our caravan. It will barely do anything, but ideally will monitor when the Zigbee door sensors go etc. Anyway, the campsite has an open Wifi network (you need to enter an email address and get limited free internet). If I were using just a standard OS I think I could work out how to connect, but I'm just wondering, with HASSIO, is there any way to do this, as I think I'm right in saying I can't just apt-install things like I would normally. I'm assuming also with HASSIO I can't get a second USB Wifi dongle and use HASSIO to make the pi a hotspot? Any thoughts or help would be really amazing to see if this is workable

@gloomy canyon I feel your pain. I had a pioneer that something similar happen, only it was my fault. For some reason I thought it would be a good idea to swap around some speakers with the receiver on. Two wires touched and pop. The protection circuit kicked in and wouldn't let it start up again. I didn't realize that at the time and had to dive almost an hour to the closest service center. They took a look at it (almost a month later) and just had to reset the circuit. Another 2 hour round trip in the winter snow and I was up and running. I probably could have done it myself with enough googling. Oh well, live and learn.

that's some pretty awful design. I used to run my Yamaha RX-V450 with some sketchy cabling and it kept shutting down at high volumes from time to time. Turns out the right rear speaker had part of the wire shorting out...

Yea, that always sucks. It seems like electronics are rarely worth repairing out of warranty. The only time I'm happy if something dies is if I wanted something new and the wife thought it was dumb.

It might have just been the bulb going, but she didn't need to know that. For some reason there was a weird hue shift from top to bottom. She didn't mind but it drove me nuts!
