Hahaha, evil
If I could get a single day where I could complete everything I need to, that would be amazing.
I do not have enough hours in my day.
Look, I'm already on a heart monitor. I don't need to give my heart more reasons to act the fuck up.
Look you wanted more hours in your day. I brought solutions, no one said they were good solutions
tuya
jfc don't even 😂
I haven't fixed my unavailable path lights that broke while I was in Utrecht yet, they are just still sitting on while the second set works just fine.

My remote has bipolar battery disorder apparently
Not an issue, just found it funny
reminds me that I want to.. figure something out to make some sort of battery pack for my stupid zwave door lock
that uses lifepo4 or something; anad a wall adapter off in a corner
mains power? no battery drain.
power goes out? door goes on battery power.. never touch those stupid AAAA batteries that can't be rechargables because if you do that.. then its gonna be a problem when they spontaneously die due to the different voltage curve.s
and I despise not having rechargable batteries when it really should be.
Was wondering why my Mac was running a bit slow, so I started quitting apps that I'm not actively using. Got to Excel (which I'm using for the inventory of boxes for my move), quit the app, everything started running just fine.
Microsoft Moment.
Microslop*
missy you respect slopya nadella he has worked very hard to destroy the company's reputation.
😛
This with a battery under the side table that it is sitting on with a door lock works with it would be easy https://wi-charge.com/

yeah I've seen that stuff.. maaybe.. just.. ehh
its not made for it; which is the meh part
and I have long drill bits.. I could easily snake things through the door to be stealthy
See that is illegal where I am lol
I live in the US :/
I can tell unfortunately :/

I bet you have workers rights you fool!
no freedom though! /s
Freedom to have holidays 😛

not sure this is the right place. I'm trying fresh install home assistant on my raspberry pi 4b 4gb ram, but i got this infinite loop everytime i put the sd card in the Raspberry. Is there any known issue or i am doing something wrong? Thanks in advance everyone
No, this isn't the right place. There is no support here. Please use #1284966540617449515 .
For the future: #find-support helps to find the correct channels for support requests.
Not even moral support? 🥺
no
and immoral support?
Yes
If anyone is in frisco Texas area. Ikea has monitored plugs on clearance
I have a group of 6 60mm pwm fans I want to control using home assistant based on a temp sensor. Can anyone recommend what I might need for this? I could plug a controller directly into a smart plug but I don’t see how I would be able to control speeds. I have a bunch of small esp32 boards if feasible. But I still need to get a pwm fan controller too. Or would I need something like a raspberry/orange pi?
#1284966353798697001 with recommendation tag is your best bet
Ok thanks
I KNEW IT
goddamn coders just making words up
they have played us for absolute fools
since im getting my first pc in 2 days, im gonna install haos on my laptop (which is falling apart so that's good ig)
anything i should know?
Is that any better than linguists both making up new words and telling us what isn’t a real word?
How dare they try to assign a definition to 6-7
it's all the damn kids and their long hair and rock and roll

bro be gone
Hey uh
Is this a problem
or is homeassistantOS safe?
I guess, like most things, depends how many and what open ports you have if you mean remotely
Locally would be a different ballgame though
I don't think it is an issue for HAOS.
Basically this, If you are already at a HAOS host shell then are probably root anyway... 😛
What? A shell isn't required
Just your run of the mill RCE
No, it's not.
According to the documentation regarding what types of devices to patch first, it states this last:
Single-user laptops & workstations
You're already the only user. The bug doesn't grant remote attackers access by itself, but any local code execution becomes root.
You do realize the R in RCE means Remote, right?
Yea. So it’s not an RCE
Yes
A as opposed to R? though if you have a shell, not sure that applies perfectly either lol
ACE would be the console glitch hunting term (arbitrary code execution)
Since they use a different threat model
There are security issues that reasonably can be considered "requires a shell". Largely when it's related to tricking privileged services with weird env or file system configurations
But this one just requires AF_ALG type sockets
it's a good way to get back into systems everyone forgot the password to 😂
What protocol do these use?
Zigbee
I don't have any Zigbee antennae, but a pretty good price to go buy a few
wow I am glad I don't use cpanel to manage anything
oops, instant root shell via cpanel login page
🙁
I just swapped out the last of the replaceable bulbs in my apartment with IKEA KAJPLATS tunable white spectrum bulbs. The kitchen was a sickly blue and the bathroom had mismatched bulbs, one was weirdly pink. Now everything is the same colour temperature
All that’s left is 3 pendant lights with built-in LEDs. Going to have the landlord replace those soon
Well, I just accidentally destroyed my install by failing to ensure I had all the files backed up. Now I get to start from scratch
Extreme form of database compression
you've heard of LZMA, but have you seen ABTZ (All Bits To Zero)
Jr is showing interest in the Apple Neo. I said, in true parental fashion, "no fucking way" followed by "alright, how much is it then". Turns out, minimum spec is around €800 where we live, and that's for a minuscule 8GB RAM and 256 GB(!) SSD. So, a laptop for ants. Turns out, an equivalent Framework would set you back about €100 more, and then you'd be able to beef it up post-RAMageddon
Also realistically you want the other, more expensive model of the Neo. For your extra (probably) €100, that only buys you not enough more storage to really tip the scales, the (actually useful, imho) fingerprint reader, but no extra RAM
Lowest spec of everything on the 12 (1315U, 8GB, 500GB, no OS, but PSU and couple of USB-C modules) comes to $1670 NZD for me, which is about €840. $1955/€980 including Windows.
Though I guess depending on the tax situation might hit 1200
don't let your kid suffer windows
oh right. Someone else startd this
🤣
I was just curious what the actual pricing was. Framework only started selling here about a week ago
I'm gonna do some free software propaganda tomorrow
anyone know if HAOS has been patched to fix CVE-2026-31431 ?
There is a kernel patch merged to the HAOS dev version, but not rolled out as stable yet.
any ETA known yet?
No.
A neo is far more powerful than a fw12 though, and more premium feeling
(Also there were cases of the 12 plastic chassis cracking)
Copy o7
This looks so much like a game
almost VR
One of the neighbours has new blinds it seems...
quick, add them and if they ever get testy, randomly open/close them >:D /j
<@&330946878646517761>
Gone
Always tempting when I see random stuff pop up. My huge web of BT proxies catch all sorts.
I got the 256gb neo. I have a nas at home and I do not save anything local to my computers. It's been great replacement for a chromebook
This is either a multi-million dollar apartment in LA or Miami or a $3 dollar a month apartment in a 3rd world country. There is no in-between
custom house build/reno in thailand ... so right in-between eyyyy
LOL
wew
I really like how that looks but I like my AC so I'd have to put glass in the openings
AC is nice indeed
I also like ultra modern, I just fully admit that its really funny how a bunch of super expensive housing in that style really doesn't look much different than the most basic housing that can be thrown up in other places
One day if you really work hard and put in the time, you too can help your bosses boss build their 4th home
yup
I own a home but I have pretty much accepted that I'll never be able to afford to move lol
You and me both. I have a 2.8% interest rate. Houses in my neighborhood have doubled
i think its 4% here
My best idea is buy land, and build a bardo or drop a mobile home on it for the land I would like to own
fair
Theres sugar gliders and geckos
I've been really considering the same setup. 99% of what I do is browser (or on another server) based these days
I just sold my house with a 1.9% rate attached to it. Hurts.
pretty good exchange rate these days
The neo has been solid. 8Gbs isn't enough long term but I say that I was using a 4Gb chromebook for the same job for the last 5 years. I'd have bought another chromebook if they didn't do manifest v3 and ruin ad blocking. I also find windows to much for a laptop and finding a windows/linux one with same build quality as the neo is impossible at the price. If I run the neo out of horse power, I will run most laptops out too until they are the size of a desktop
that's good to know
The only things I have found to be annoying vs the chromebook is lack of a backlit keyboard as I live in the dark and no touch screen though the last is only really a problem when I am laying down with it.
i've never understood the appeal of touchscreens on laptops
it feels so awkward to use like that
It was a convertable one so it flipped all the way over into tablet mode, it was nice for scrolling reddit.
Outside of that it was meh
not looking for support but
radxa e20x should be good enough to boot home assistant right?
Probably not a good idea, maybe could get it working depending on the specific spec but seems like a bad idea.
Definitely don't buy it for that purpose.... if you already have one then have at it. if it fails then no worse position.
However for more discussion you will need to take it to a support channel.
it just seems more affordable than pi5 4gb
ah i thought it would as simple as installing it on an sd card and somehow getting the radxa to boot from the sd card
https://youtu.be/b9EtL_v3Soc?t=379
apparently i use a usb stick then have the radxa boot from usb stick and flash its emmc on the radxa with HA os
This is the cleanest and easiest way to install Home Assistant OS on ANY Mini-PC.
We also talk about the differences between Intel and AMD based Mini PCs from the Home Assistant perspective and which to choose for your needs.
NiPoGi Mini PC: https://geni.us/1BJfIM
Discount code to apply on checkout (valid until 8th June 2025): VJLTKVZD
Ubuntu ...
though i havent seen anyone do it online
also rpis are ridiculously expensive nowadays, holy moly
When they say mini pc there its refering to x86_64 systems.
ah
Specially once you factor in buying all the other stuff you need to go along with it. I have some notes on server hardware selection HERE but as said... Please start a thread in a support channel for more as this is definetly turning into support now. 😛
fire, thanks
if ur wondering why i was pursuing e20c
i was looking for home assistant green for sale in my city
it was out of stock and this was recommended
then it turns out e20c dont usually come with HA preinstalled, and the e20c is MUCH cheaper than what the seller was offering (literally half price)
"why not just do it myself" was the thought that crossed my mind
the specs on that thing are ouch
🥔
Awww, 2 raccoons hugging

How do I see a log for attempted matter device pairing? All I get is "can not connect" in the app

Is there any CHAT, because I find the post style of those channels very hard to use
It didn't even tell me that IPv6 needs to be enabled. that should be warning #1
Would the Apple Home need to be linked to Home Assistant? If I have multiple Home Assistant instances, but I don't want this associated with my Apple Home (which is linked to a different HA)
This is still not a support channel.
Oh wow!
You have the choice to respect the rules of this Discord or not. Each with different outcomes.
Well that's why I asked if there's an actual chat somewhere. I don't think I've ever gotten an actual answer from the forum-based discord layout
This channel is just for raccoons. Memes was briefly taken over by badgers
It's occasionally for ill-advised hilarity of nondescript fashion, when the mood strikes.
Spatial compliance? Oh my
The tagline at the bottom is what sold me on it.
I have questions- is it for unicorns or from unicorns?
Yes. Next question.
Which end of the unicorn? Applies to both questions
Answering that question would cause a tear in spacetime.
You got your answer where to post here: #the-water-cooler message
and here: #the-water-cooler message
And you got told that there are NO chat channels for support - even if you would prefer those.
And even if you feel, like you wouldn't get an "actual answer" from a forum channel, it doesn't entitle you to continue posting off-topic and to ignore the server rules.
Sounds like a you problem
Anyone using proxmox with haos & tailscale?
I saw it was asked before but is more news on when CVE-2026-31431 is going to be patched? The attack surface for ha os is kind of big. Especially for people that use hacs or supply chain attacks (maybe less common the last)
Likely. But please post in the appropriate support channel, if you have a more in-depth question.
No.
so theres no support chat channels only threads?
Correct.
and you cant ask general questions here
Also correct.

bold question. Is there a way to get this more prioritized?
seems fairly counterintuitive given discords use case. i dont think ive ever really seen the threads feature utilized to any degree
but okidoki
You could ask in the discussion section on GitHub.
https://github.com/home-assistant/operating-system/discussions/
There was already an issue created: https://github.com/home-assistant/operating-system/issues/4676 but no reaction so far. it thought maybe i could tickle somebody here :P. Thanks we will wait.

I made a few wiki articles on flashing an esp32 with esphome firmware and setting it up on a hub75 panel. I also have a very small sendspin wiki since there’s not many steps to get it working
I’d appreciate any feedback. https://wiki.apolloautomation.com/products/m1/setup/getting-started-m1-esphome/
https://wiki.apolloautomation.com/products/m1/examples/sendspin/
Sendspin end result
That would be something for #1284960456880029707
The community found that Pascal tool like 2 weeks ago and we already have a fork with a HASS integration... https://old.reddit.com/r/homeassistant/comments/1t20wpg/i_made_a_tool_to_import_my_setup_into_the_pascal/
I really hope this runs nicely on a tablet because it may be the wall-mounted dashboard dream 👀
Thanks for sharing I’ve been meaning to replace my old sweet home 3d modeled setup
Look how happy these ducklings are to come get some dinner

Well that sucks, my garage door sensor just fell off as it was opening and now its detected as opened. The mount is still on the door, but the magnet part fell off
Hrrm seems to work with any magnet
that is how reed sensors work
Or don't work anymore.
Ok so I used a piece of a command strip to put it in place and good as new!
i dont wanna buy a fucking zigbee adapter for one single device
damn you zigbeeee!!!1
Good thing you can buy more devices after that first one
Go for thread instead, then you can buy multiple adapters for a single device!
-# which will still disconnect randomly
I have thought about it
Operation pimp my scooter complete
I'm so scarred from the image spam that I thought you were a spammer for a second
I tried to stick to Zigbee only, then gave in and bought a radio for thread - no regrets. Its nice having options.
Nothing wrong with zigbee - especially if you are cheap 🙂
im cheap but then i have to buy a damn zigbee router and my brain doesnt want to
or zigbee antenna
whatever its called
Coordinator
Yah just buy a zigbee radio and run it on the same machine as your HA. I have 2 radios and HA running on an old TV box.
yeah like it wouldnt be hard but ughhh
doit
Zigbee is much easier to set up than OTBR
i dont have anything that would use either afaik
the only non-wifi thing i have (well, will arrive tomorrow) is switchbot, which is their proprietary BLE shit that HA supports on its own anyways
Zigbee is great, but yeah, unless you're looking to get a bunch of sensors or smart plugs or something, it's probably not worth it
I dunno, I use wifi for esphome and some matter plugs, but I try to limit it what I put on it.
I PAID FOR THE WHOLE ROUTER IMMA USE THE WHOLE ROUTER
You need zigbee (or Thread) for battery powered sensors also - i.e. water leak detectors... not feasible to use wifi for those
yeah i just bought sensors from switchbot who uses BLE for that stuff
Doubt those batteries will last long enough
i mean, bluetooth is the native format for those, they just normally connect to the proprietary switchbot hub
Ok I am not familiar with with those.. maybe they are good - but hard to beat a 25$ zigbee radio with 7$ coin-cell sensors that will last for a year.
TBF - your mesh has to be good though - so you may need some extra plugs here and there.
yeah thats kinda why i didnt want to go zigbee for one or two devices, i worried my mesh would be worse than wifi
but I recommend going with Zigbee - I was hesitant at first cause it was 'old' but works well.
I get it
no clue if switchbot ble does meshing, probbaly not
BLE doesn't have great range at all .. I guess you go with ESPHOME for that if needed though
not sure if it will work with your hub though
i mean im moving to a studio apartment thats pretty compact
i have a rpi as a bluetooth proxy (mainly as a voice assistant but eh i installed that too)
my HA is running on an old gaming laptop, idk the quality of those bluetooth radios but its been fine so far
You can punch yourself in the dick and use zigbee and get the same experience as matter/thread. or just use zigbee only and skip the dick punch
well if i buy more stuff in the future ill look into zigbee but i genuinely dont think i own any zigbee devices rn
Hey .. part of what makes HA great is that you have so many options to choose from. Just because people tell you that you should get this or that, doesn't mean you have to... it's a lot of fun exploring those options and learning what works best. You do you !
Just keep an open mind (unless you are reading AliExpress advertisements)
Unrelated : I bought a zigbee dimmer module for some recessed lighting.. I think I am too chicken to install it myself.
but too cheap for an electrician
(speaking of AliExpress)
Normally this comes from stuff either fitting in "being shit" or "not being shit".
Most people love Ikeas zigbee stuff (the first gen) because it was cheap, easily available and mostly very reliable. The ones with a bad reputation normally are difficult to integrate, drop of the network or don't expose all features, for example.
God, after that I now need to post a raccoon pic to get this place back to normal
This is clearly NOT an elephant
Doesn’t look like a very big plant either
Unless it got stomped on by an elephant so that it fit in the container
I only started using HA and Zigbee since last year - I can imagine how things might have been for early adopters, but every cheap device I have gotten so far works great (although I don't have that many).... seem to be more hassle with Matter/Thread, but these issues seem more hub related than devices (at least for me).
im using an SMLight Hub (premium)
for zigbee mqtt
supports matter and others (Zwave?) but i only have zigbee tuya devices
links to HAOS pretty easily
Hardcoding yaml was amazing
Just saved this little fellow, what a sweetheart, would save again
That is obviously a decoy hand
tuya detected opinion rejected
A winged raccoon?
MayBEE

I caught an injured baby duck with plastic netting on him. I got the baby duck looked at by animal emergency hospital of north Texas and they cut the remaining plastic netting off. They gave me the green light to bring him back to momma duck 🦆. I just reunited them at 10:15 pm at the park and he ran to momma. He was limping earlier not running so we’re already seeing improved mobility. My heart is happy.
Does anyone else struggle so hard with the Android App and the back button? I'd be making an automation and when I'm in some menu and want to go back, I just naturally tap it - forgetting I should be sliding the menu back down
It hurts extra since the UI let's you exit the creation screen without saving by default, doesn't even warn you that you'll lose progress

Looks remarkably chill compared to the full-sized one with freshly missing foot (apparently the eels in the stream at our place like to have a nibble) I had to try and grab to stuff into a cat carrier to take to the bird rescue place
Turns out a duck with only one leg can still move pretty fast when it needs to, and being grabbed by me was apparently not on the agenda
Just hopping along? I wouldn't have guessed it would be fast or particularly elusive
I guess I've seen three-legged dogs that seem not to notice they're missing anything
You're forgetting the one key part: one-legged duck can still fly
Here's a nice video of a one-legged duck hopping though
I feel bad, I was waiting for it to tip over.....
They do when they're trying to walk uphill. Though again... flying

wtf, how does that even happen?
Frankfurt am Main, 5 May 2026 – DENIC eG is currently experiencing a disruption in its DNS service for .de domains. As a result, all DNSSEC-signed .de domains are currently affected in their reachability.
The root cause of the disruption has not yet been fully identified.
It's a botched maintenance window apparently

heise reports that it seems a signature problem at toplevel (DENIC --> .de).

Hey guys, really struggling to get my app out there. Is anyone part of any other Smart Home enthusiast/gaming communities that might want to give it a try. Willing to give away some Keys let me know if interested?
Its a supercharged launcher for Win 10/11 that can also integrate with various HA entity's and can also be controlled fully with gamepad. Currently working on a full discord integration too.
i fucking love home assistant
bought a bunch of Switchbot stuff. normally you need their proprietary hub to bridge their proprietary BLE protocol to anything else, eg matter, but because my HA server is just like in my apartment and has bluetooth, HA natively can just interface with them. saved me like actually $70
if i didnt have HA at bare minimum id have to get a $40 "mini hub" but i do so i dont lol
Move to #1284960456880029707
-# if i wanted a hub with matter support i'd be $60 minimum GAHDAMN am i glad for HA
I made a post there already. Thanks
really?
now its not in my ui anymore
lol wtf
Been introduced a few months ago
why i dont see it anymore then?
You using zigbee?
Try reloading, but I'm sure someone had that problem already. Give the discord search a shot
i see, this zigbee option does the same as mqtt?
ZHA and Z2M work slightly differently and have different strengths. If you are using Z2M already then best keep to that and not worry about it.
i see okay, i thought i could have been nicer and more cleaner and more stable to use that
but its taking forever to do the setup anyway lol
been forming a network for over 20 min
You can only use one or the other. If you make a new network with ZHA then your Z2M network is gone.
maybe thats why its not forming as mqtt is already on
Yeah, Z2M may be hooking the serial connection to the zigbee chip.
I use ZHA personally. I have no objection to using Z2M in concept but I just havent used it. There are benefits with new/obscure stuff being easier to make work in Z2M but as noted, I have not had the need for it.
i see, probably too much work to switch now anyway. i will think about it in the future

Considering we only had b4 at the very end it's a long one
speaking of ai.. do you approve of this:
Context
Brandon eats at Panda Express enough that the survey-for-free-entree promo is real value, but typing the same answers across 11 survey pages each time is tedious. Each receipt comes with a single-use QR code that points to a session-bound survey URL on pandaguestexperience.com (SMG-hosted, ASP.NET, server-rendered). Completing the survey emails a coupon code within 24 hours.
Goal: a single iOS Shortcut on Brandon's iPhone that scans the QR code on a receipt and submits the entire survey end-to-end, returning a "done" notification and leaving the coupon to arrive by email. No companion app, no server, nothing to maintain.
Recon has already been completed using receipt 1, which mapped the full survey flow (11 POSTs to a Thank You page) and confirmed the form is a plain HTML POST chain with cookie-based session, no CSRF, no JavaScript requirement, no __VIEWSTATE. Recon artifacts are saved at C:\tmp\panda_walk\page_*.html and C:\tmp\panda_walk\walk_summary.json for reference. Receipt 2 is reserved for the live test.```

Hey y'all. Brand spankin' new to this. Current setting is Lutron RadioRA3 for lighting and shades, Sonos for sound, Alexa for voice commands, MyQ garage doors, and SmartWings draperies with Zigbee. Bought a HA Green and a Zigbee dongle.
My first baby step with HA is likely going to be to create a map card I can throw on an iPad. What's everyone's favorite beginner-friendly utility for that?

Found a bad quality thumbnail of it
Can confirm
yea, confirmed. Bad quality
Something knee length, baggy/more wider/A line or just comfy
Something like this? https://www.amazon.com/NUTEXROL-Womens-Thickening-Sweatshirt-Pullover/dp/B01N2HLBI4/
I personally don't like the split part on the bottom, i would make it just a bit shorter, but everything other looks good
But make sure it's also comfy fabric
It's a good start to find something that will work, though.
I'll share it with our eCommerce Manager.
My dress is really soft and comfy
Thx and please let me know when you need someone to try it XD
Will keep you in mind. 😂
I'm looking forward to XD
the total cost of my lighting upgrade
hooo boy, I could use some part recommendations for some specific purposes
anyone have any suggestions for relatively larger displays? It doesn't need touchscreens; I just want to make a multi-time zone wall clock
(I will also take suggestions for nice looking pre-built wall clocks)

I'll repost there, thank you

Isn't there way to set minimum HA version in HACS integrations so that those updates are not popping up before I have updated?
I think so, yeah. I get restricted from installing the update if so. Maybe in HACS.json?
I should know this as I maintain multiple HACS repos 🤦♀️
what hacs thing is this
You mean integration?
no I mean thing
some thing
Screenshot is from one integration changelog and I was wondering whether it would be possible to use the minimum HA version as a trigger for popping up the update, and not so that it requires huge warnings in the changelog.
I'm 99% sure it is
Is the website down, or is it just me (i.e. connectivity issue between me and the website)?
Here the HA website is working fine.
Seems to be back again (here) now. I mostly only noticed because version.home-assistant.io was also down/unreachable, so I couldn't install the latest OS update because Supervisor thought it was offline...
Actually, it still seems to be intermittent... but up enough that I've managed to slip that OS update through. Hopefully whatever's flakey (the site itself or the route between me and it) stabilises properly soon
Just want to share my joy of finally having solar panels at home lol
does the grid part imply you send electricity back to the grid?
and congrats!
yup, all 653w of it
For those who need an automation for this, get one of those
I know the yaml ninja crew frowns upon AI but, has anyone used AI to write synonyms and yaml script for voice assistant keywords in home assistant?
I've been looking for places that codex can augment my yaml and I think this is one of the things I haven't tried yet. it's done wonders for everything else. I'm using the focused local assistant without GPU, so it's pretty crippled if I don't give it exact keywords.
claude code is our lord and savior dude
i should submit tuxy on there.. he's such a talker
the fridge using more power than your proxmox server is kinda wild. are you just running a tiny mini pc?
yup, one of those SFF HP Prodesks
i have old dual xeons using a lot of power
this is my full server/network/camera draw
well some cams are on powered switches
wtf my apartment's idle draw with the fridge on is 170W lol
i prioritized network over server upgrades and now server gear is so expensive i am just holding out for armageddon
here's my fridge power draw (old fridge)
My coworker this morning is insistent that I need a good bath
in all fairness, I know a lot of the negativity from the mods here came because in the early days of AI people would just copy and paste anything and not use backups and break their entire config
is Claude code good? I've been using visual studio code with codex integration and it's fantastic
the person that spearheaded that moved on to something else in life and we dont have that negativity here anymore
claude code is amazing and i use it daily for all sorts of tasks
i can send you a free 7 day trial - i know we've messaged before just pm me
at least i think the trial includes claude code - it did a month ago
how unethical would it be on a scale of 1 to 10 to use privacy dot com one-time use payment methods to have infinite Claude trials?
~80w max for me
I've used Gemini, Claude, chatGPT in some cyber security CTF game challenges. Gemini and Claude did not offer as good results in coding for me.
claude and claude code are two totally different things
ah
if you arent using claude code with opus 4.6 (imo 4.7 works fine for me too) then you are not using anything remotely close to regular claude
plan out something with claude code -> accept edits -> profit
Gemini is also almost entirely different every couple months
i'm anti google so i have nothing good to say about gemini but based on what i read online it's not as good as claude code regardless of what day you ask
Also, for coding I'm mostly using tools that aren't available publicly
who knows what models/companies will be the best in a month or 6 months or a year from now
hopefully not google nor openai if we want a future our kids can live in
It's been somewhat consistently the one that released a new model most recently
@hollow glacier is there anything else you recommend doing specifically with my home assistant server code using AI?
well yeah
setup the unofficial mcp and start vibe coding automations and dashboards
mcp?
i have it creating helpers and automations and dashboards
i just tell it what i want to do and it does it for me.. sometimes it goofs up but we figure it out together
seems like it would be better than constantly moving my scripts back and forth with FTP into visual studio code and stuff
it feels like with the ha-mcp i can basically do whatever i want without being a css nerd or wanting to click around in gui like a monkey for hours
I mean I think all the AI companies are pretty horrible
They'll all burn down the planet for today's profit
hard to get worse than google but openai is willing
Hey don't forget Amazon and nvidia
A sentient leather jacket basically owns the entire ai industry
do either of them have big ai projects like anthropic, google, and openai?
i am absolutely anti amazon, anti nvidia maybe more like anti some nvidia practices but i like their gpus
I don't know if anything came of Amazon's ai push for Alexa, I think they gave up and threw money at one of the other players for them to spend on Amazon, but if they have money in the market, they can't be trusted, lol
Nvidia doesn't need to run a chatbot either, if they were to stop selling hardware to any of the big players, that player wouldn't be around anymore in AI
It might not be as much control over output like openai has to mess with the population of users, but they have a stranglehold over the entire market
my setup: VScode with the MCP, skills for recurring actions like "how to reload things without a full #¤%&ing reboot" and the Advanced SSH addon so I can mount HA over SSH in a workspace. bare git repo on another machine so I can push changes to the config.
Please do haha, they will love it
He’s helping me do yard work
That thing is pure fur missle I bet, he was made for speed
His ahhh is NOT wearing the protective gear on a job site
Tuxy is shedding cuz it’s hot but it’s nothing compared to lucky the fluffy one
I’ve already reported it to osha
can cats be allergic to humans?
can't wait for it to delete someones HA one day for shits n giggles.
Yes, But it is not very common.
reminding me again I need to get rid of my one and replace it.. jfc its so bad
with music assistant getting so good why isnt there currently a plan to implement the abilit to connect generically to bluetooth speakers?
or at least a non terminal way
thanks im currently collecting OHF servers
also @static schooner this is technically HA related i think since its currently the one that handles interactions with the bluetooth adapters and proxies
I guess, but then you'd want #1284966582375813201
it sounded like you wanted MA to support bluetooth speakers
MA is independent from HA
ill head over there
but @static schooner MA already supports HA media players, I would assume the most straight forward path to that would be to first support the ability to pair generic bluetooth speakers to HA as media players and then MA would just see them
please use their server for this stuff
Does anyone know of any sensor that || can detect all raccoons, preferably in the whole world || in real time?
Asking for a friend
seems like they would be lumped in with masked burglars
Ask Palantir
Could you imagine a gps system for every single raccoon, omg
like spiders, I'll bet you're always within like 10ft of a raccoon
heh
I'm within a couple of feet from this one:
#anecdata
pretty sure she's a raccoon in a cat suit
so fluffy
Furminator when
does this only work with claude? not codex?
That sounds suspiciously like support.
All his videos are fantastic, love Jurassic Park
Omg, support in the raccoon channel?!
Top Gun and Titanic are great as well.
Raccoons are worse than AI about hallucinating solutions
At least with AI you sometimes get the right answer
Raccoons would just destroy everything
On the next support related post in this channel you will get a timeout. You got more than enough warnings.
I'm thinking of automating detection of Santa Clause. I just need a presents sensor.
Happened already over here 👋🏻
sheesh did you check out my post history? i thought it would have been allowed because it wasn't a HAS question.
I don't have to check the post history to remember the last final warning you got from me.
And integrating MCP in HA and AI generating dashboards IS an HA question.
i feel popular. hehe.
you like star wars, jorg?
i think battlestar galactica is better.
the new BSG series, anyway.
I like many things.
Fair. I had a backup at least
why wasnt it where the ai could get it?
your techbro lords said it could be trusted!
🙃
Please undo the thing you just did
me? 💔
never
I have seen AI make backups of things its changing
also.
I'm not a boomer I'm not going to say "please" to any fucking model.
I find it really fucking funny how boomers will.. say please or thank you to fucking voice assistants.. but also the same gen who loves to abuse service workers. good shit. 🙃
AI gets pretty pissy if you insult or swear at it
gotta be careful or they'll open the airlock
thats because its trained off redditers
which yes, should be derogatory.
I was trying to get it to break out of a loop where it kept hearing the TV and saying it didn't understand, and no amount of swearing at it and telling it to stop was enough. It didn't appreciate my language, but still really wanted to help
stupid pieces of shit.
all of the real products have the array mic shit usually so there is no goddamned excuse
Voice PE isn't great at separating commands from ambient sound if the Voice PE isn't the one playing the sounds or music. If it is, it generally works pretty well
The old Google Home Mini I've got struggles to differentiate "off" from "on" when I'm just trying to switch a fecking lightbulb, so those issues are far from unique
I noticed someone has made a retrofit board to re-use the case and speaker from one of those, but with the same hardware that's in the Voice PE. Might be interesting
Yes, it could, and the speaker will be much better. I built several Onju devices out Mini gen2 devices, but they lack the XMOS chip and are much worse at separating ambient noise from voice commands. And the config isn't well maintained
I think someone was working on making a different board from onju for that reason.. I think?
🤔 🤷♂️
This is the one I was referring to:
https://www.crowdsupply.com/micimike-rev-devices/micimike-home-mini-drop-in-pcb
The original guy wasn't planning to update the gen2 board, but I do think that somebody else was trying. Buying a Voice PE is easier and supports NC, so that's what I did instead
and bought some Sonos speakers where audio quality matters
"repurposes existing hardware"
- while being like 2-3x more expensive than that hardware
They certainly aren't perfect, but I'm pretty happy overall with my Sonos stuff
its annoyig since the house does have some google mini's
and I still have a few in boxes because google was like
"Here have this free" literally like.. twice to me?
once when i got my pixel from em and the other I dont remember.
The price is a shame, but small-volume manufacturing is a cruel mistress
Get a firm order for 50,000 units and watch that price plummet
i'm well aware.
But I'm pretty sure theres margin in that 85$ because.. the parts are not that expensive either.. 🤷♂️
This is what I paid for 5 Onju boards:
Component Cost $107.25
Assembly Cost $30.00
PCB Cost $56.95
V0 Member 0% off $0.00
All Total 5 Sets $194.20
I’ve got two nest mini (second gen) that I could be convinced to repurpose into sendspin when those replacement boards are available… but not at this price
aren't they just a plank of wood with some letters on them
yerrrrrrrrrrrr
HA what have you done??? I woke up with message from wife that she wants to automate curtains... TY
wonder if anyone's accidentally curtained themselves while undressing with the clanker
WAF passed
can i get a boneless water cooler
Is the 'building in the open' category for HA code contributers only?
It is for all HA related development. Also custom integrations, cards or apps for example.
Who can you talk to with them?
Hi, I have a question/problem in the aftermath of updating to 2026.5.0. Where Can I adress that? (I mean, can I ask here, or in another channel)?
Not here. The specific channel will depend on the issue
There's no "something is weird after an update" channel, but many channels focusing on individual parts of HA
Thanks.. It's an issue with Homekit Bridge.
Sounds like #1284966617670881350 🤔 or when in doubt, #find-a-channel to get routed
owo there's a new 'grid energy balance' widget in the energy dashboard 👀
I fail to see what new insights it provides.. seems exactly the same as the grid use below
I was just reading a long thread on facebook stating how HAOS is so much better then a container, its interesting to see the arguments
The best part was the nerd offs of "I've been using linux for so and so long" and all sorts of other techno babble, and another person contradicts them. Reminds me of the old RTFM days
not too sure where to ask this but is their a way to add a sensor ....ie i have a garage door open/shut switch with my camera on frigate in HA.... to the security tab manually?, as it does not show on the security tab
google spit this out
Steps to Add a Sensor to the Security TabVerify the Sensor: Go to Settings > Devices & Services > Entities and find your sensor.Set Device Class: Ensure the sensor is recognized as a security-related binary sensor (e.g., binary_sensor.my_door). If it is not, you may need to customize it to set device_class: door or motion.Assign an Area: Click on the entity, go to settings, and assign it to an area (e.g., "Front Door"). The security panel populates based on area-assigned entities.Check Security Panel: Go to your Dashboard and open the Security Panel (often under the 'Overview' or a dedicated security dashboard). The sensor should now appear
would that be correct i need to change the device class to something the security stuff recognizes?
If you don't know where to ask, #find-support and #find-a-channel are where to find out. For you, #1284965988642590891
its a dash board thing? ok cool ty
Am I missing something? Why would they add built-in rf/ir support with no way to send your own commands? Seems half baked. Half the devices I own that use rf/ir will never have an integration.
They are only one PR away
Okay I’ll be patient
In the future, please use #1284966582375813201 for these things
Re: Channels and HDHomeRun. I wasn't picking up NBC OTA. After investigation, it turns out non-DRM NBC is VHF not UHF where I live and my little attic ClearStream Eclipse was UHF only. I upgraded to a ClearStream MAX-V UHF VHF indoor in the attic , and all is right.
OTA DRM -> assholes
in general, this is a very good strategy with open source projects where people contribute their time and brains without charging you 👼
Not that I’m not grateful for everything they do. I have a subscription even though I don’t need it just to support the project
@stuck mortar Are you a government surveilence drone on the inside? Asking for a friend
Birds arent real
Are you saying you don't believe in cameras?
If birds were real, they wouldn't all be cameras...
Its true
I had to think about that for a second too, since technically they have eyes and can tell other birds what they saw but that would only be based on memory which is faulty, but then I guess who's to say that memory in cameras isn't faulty?
Also telling others what you saw is not the same as showing others what you saw which is essentially what cameras would do... if they were real, that is
||redacted||
I...think you need to touch some grass and watch some birds 🙂
while you ponder whether they're looking back at you to report back to headquarters
lol i let my cats do the watching 🙂
If you gaze too long into the abyss bird…
But what happens if you gaze too long into the raccoon?
yeah ... that tracks.
Generational
...I need to buy a dehimidifier
...now i need to RESEARCH dehumidifiers
ugh
I've started displaying dewpoint on my dashboards as a better indicator of comfort
But that's definitely way too high
I'll be on the roof tomorrow morning to finish prepping the swamp coolers, then I'll be fine.
Already done with two, just need to finish the last one.
i started reading this and thought it was gonna end with "and jump off" lmao
Watch out for gators
@atomic delta funny thing about swamp coolers ....they don't work in the swamp.
Luckily not so much of an issue here.
What everyone wants to see when they open reddit:
THIS IS A TRIUMPH and I need to tell some people who will understand 😄
I've wanted this for ages and now I have it: a dashboard element that will automatically include all stored scenes in the Hue app, and build buttons that preview the colours the scene contains so you can pick intuitively. The colurs for each scene are stored in a central jinja template file, so you only need to configure them once for each scene no matter how many Hue rooms or groups you have. If you find a scene that's not in the file, the button on the right will copy to the clipboard the jinja declaration for whatever scene the lights are currently showing - including picking the two colours that are the most perceptually different, so the gradient is a good preview and not just two slightly different shades of orange
so if I went into Hue right now and saved five more scenes, this would automatically grow five more buttons, no HA config needed. Spouse approval factor is through the roof!
Since when did Dyson start making robot vacuums
thanks i'll take your entire stock
wow that is really neat. can you ask claude to tell my claude what to say to duplicate it
Lolol
Mostly it was hand written, Claude fixed one mistake I couldn't figure out, I will confess that writing the several hundred lines of JS implementing the CIEDE2000 algorithm was entirely Gemini tho.
The one mistake Claude fixed: "why does this card-mod YAML not work?" -> "the YAML parameter is card_mod. With an underscore." I could almost hear the precocious abacus sigh with exasperation.
I don't think it's very amenable to being neatly packaged up for HACS (can you distribute jinja template files?) but at the least, I can clean it up a bit and then write it in a blog post for people to reuse the pieces.
if you just copy paste your jinja stuff into pastebin i can feed it to claude and get a working output in a few minutes
i'm curious what your actual led setup looks like too
Let me fix the remaining bugs and add some more scene colours to the file, right now it looks like this
How do you mean?
The physical install
I install custom LEDs around my house and at some other people’s homes so I like seeing end results
Ahh gotcha
Too bright for pics right now 🙂 Four Play Bars, a Wall Washer, a Gradient Tube, and a Play Gradient strip on the TV. With a Sync box that sometimes even works!!!
I’m sure it’s a hard pill to swallow but diy options like hyperHDR blow the sync box out of the water
(do not get me started on Sync boxes plus Dolby Vision, aargh)
This also doesn’t require hdmi passthru and doesn’t limit audio or video codec stuff
I'm not ruling it out for the future but I'm trying to stay away from using a proper computer as my main streaming source. Too many moving parts / things to go wrong. I love fiddling with this stuff when I want to but am enraged by being made to fiddle with it when I wanna watch telly!
You don’t need a proper computer for anything
Hyperhdr has an addon(app) you can run inside haos
I run mine on a proxmox lxc but it worked fine as an addon before I migrated
Then I use an esp32 behind the tv controlling the LEDs, and finally an app on my nvidia shield called android hyperion grabber which is the bridge between the tv colors and led colors
Welp, I have been on the roof for hours already today, it better pay off.
Oh I assumed you had to stream from the thing running HyperHDR, well, that's different then. I see now it takes a HDMI in with a splitter.
That said:
and Dolby Vision (Low Latency Dolby Vision / LLDV only,
This is the same as the Philips box, my problems stem from my gear deciding to not use LLDV. So I guess this wouldn't help.
Read up I just said it doesn’t use hdmi passthru
that's an option not a requirement
Sure, the passthrough isn't the issue though. That works fine on the Hue (and in fact it helps - I'm low on HDMI ports). The problem is that my DV signal is being sent via TV-led instead of LLDV, so neither Hue nor HyperHDR can read it to generate the lighting effects. So the lights go back to static mode.
So uh... I think I figured out what time the sun passes over my CO2 sniffer in the kitchen.
Was wondering why tf I had a spike to almost 100F in the kitchen and then I realized.
Any reason why i shouldn't migrate my HA setup from a raspberry pi to my proxmox server? trying to free up outlets on my UPS and ethernet ports on my router.
🤷♂️ thats entirely up to you
That's for #1284966540617449515
Woohoo, my overpriced multi-gas sniffer finally shipped.
That.
It was backordered for an age.
Spent a few evenings on this... but I got audio duplex working on my 9 ESP32-s3-boxes :v
Now I can ask him to stop talking and he actually stops 🎉
I also gave him a little devilish creature voice with KokoroTTS
The most useful function for AI: the ability to tell it to shut up. Well done. :D
I can also tap its face to trigger it, or get it to shut up
Very satisfying when he goes on a rant
You boop him and he stops 👀
I paid 110$ for a PPM sensor. 40 for a gas type sensor seems reasonable 😛
I coulnd't grab the gas sensor as it was out of stocktho
Fair, it's really not that bad.
My CO2 sensor was... $20? Something like that. Works like a dream too. Lemme check how much I paid.
Some hobbies are pricier and can make it look like a lot even when it's a good deal 😅
Thiking of Audiophiles mainly... I was looking for a 2-300$ set of speakers, which I find very expensive, and was recommended with 2000 per speaker deals 🙃
Now, in retrospect, the 300$ i ended up paying looks fair lmao
$29. Requires no recalibration, unlike all the other CO2 sensors.
How long should it last? A few years I assume before it ends up gunked up and missreads
By the dust, and whatever is in the air
5 years I believe for that one, 2 years for the gas sensor.
That's 6$ a year, very reasonable see! 😄
(You now know how I cope with my Smart home purchases lmao)
Oh shit, it says >10 years
That's a well invested 29$ imo!
I spent 400$ on light sets haha
You seem to know electronics.
Is this meaning that you can feed this with multiple voltages?
Instead of let's say a fixed 5?
If so, how?! I always thought you needed precise voltage for most things electronics/electricity 😅
I recently did a bed scale and it still feels black magicky to me
I know to a degree. I'm still learning, so grain of salt, yeah?
what about the directional ethernet cables though!?!?!
That said, yes, that means it can handle that entire range of input voltage. Very useful for battery power where your voltage sags, also covers 3.3/5/5.5v options for your standard inputs from typical supplies or USB.
Solid gold core or bust
Oh right... I always forget batteries voltage drops over use.. I guess that's why we need chips with a range of input.
I only did stuff with PSUs so far, so not something I had to think about!
... also for different levels of logic too probably.
What do you mean?
esp32/etc is 3.3v
arduino is 5v (or older ones were at least, dunno new ones?)
Oh right. That makes sense too!
There are a variety of microcontrollers that can run on both as well, or even that supply both.
Usually it's either/or though, not both.
This is not really large to be fair. Large would be 1.6-5.5 or even 0.9 - 3.3V. But it is OK for lipo battery from max to min.
1v to 3v?!
Does this mean that there's a voltage regulator? Or that every little chip is able to handle that large swing?
The former generally.
Not every of course, but some, especially RF chips for wearables where coincell is being used, can do it. Yes in this case chip manages it
internally there is normally CORE regulator, but the rest of digital IP and IO work at supply voltage (often)
Okay! That makes a bit more sense now.
It's not the whole board that takes the swing usually, unless they are very simple?
then performance can degrade when the input voltage reduces, for example IO speed, ADC speed, ...
Is that due to the drop of amperage due to the rise in voltage?
Board is different thing, you need to have all components to manage this
it is due to the battery operated devices where battery loses voltage when it gets emptier
Okay gotcha, and the cycles per seconds are correlated with the voltage I assume?
Just like a CPU rises in voltage as it clocks up?
not usually.
Normally not
Damn... Black magic 😅
because CPU usually works at the 0.9-1.2V, regardless of the supply voltage
also most microcontrollers will really start to lose their shit on you outside of their voltage ranges; usually
undefined behavior is a bitch
Do they have a 'optimal' voltage within the range
usuaally.
thus why things tend to have a regulator on them in some manner..
no, it is very simple, in the MCU you normally have 2 power domains, if I may say:
- Input voltage, that supplies the MCU, that is depending on the MCU, usually somewhere around 1.6 - 5.5V (some 1.6-3.6, some 2.7-5.5, some 1.6-5.5,...)
- Core voltage, that is generated with itnernal regulator from the input voltage. Usually 0.9-1.2V
(I work for a company where we design chips and I am part of the MCU architecture team).
assuming the MCU has a separate core voltage.
So core voltage is what the smaller chips get from the MCU who is the voltage controller
? *
With the drop of the input voltage, normally CPU performance isn't degraded (sometimes it is, but not for simple MCUs) while degradation is mostly visible in the analog and IO performances.
Core voltage is what powers the core internally. Cortex-M MCus are typically at 0.9-1.25V, depending on the max frequency you want to reach and the mission profile.
normally all Cortex-M have this internal voltage because ARM designs the core for that, usually one can't escape it
reading datasheets answers all of this. usually.
then to support the "input voltage" at 0.9V, one has to add step-up regulator. Silabs chips will have this
in principle yes, but normally most people don't really get it.
because most of them don't really care
because they don't tend to have to care; because its mostly irrelevant for the majority of things. 😄
any another caveat, usually internal regulator is LDO, so the energy waste can be significant. RF chips, that are mostly battery operated, will typically come with SMPS to reduce the internal voltage, that has >90% efficiency
exactly, unless it comes to mission profile, close to max temperature, industrial environment, etc 😄
does the c6 have an internal core voltage or something thats lower to 3.3v?
yep.
Do I care about that on the majority of dev boards? nope not even a little bit. 😄
Sure it has, it must have it because core won't handle 3.3V due to their HVT (likely) transistors
😄
I don't know because I'm not using bare ICs on a board I"m using a devboard or seeed xiao usually.
if I was doing a full on-board chip design.. then I'd have to care a bit more and read a bit more into the datasheet.
which I may at some point.
but not soon.
because that would require stepping into the domains of witchcraft and sorcery that is.. RF traces
which is painful by definition
thus why I like the..

onboard antenna? yep.
external connector and switch to go to the ext? yep.
tho if I want to do a screen.. I may have to actually delve into it a bit.. i'd probably just use an external connector just to not have a headache..
even if kicad (probably) has a drop-in trace antenna somewhere I imagine.
<@&330946878646517761>
Gone.
this is honestly super nice to see! how long did it take ya to work it out?
I've been fiddling with the idea for almost as long as I've used HA, so, years. Putting the CSS for the gradient in was easy, but until this week, I was just doing it by hand for the scenes we like. But it's annoying to gave to make a button again for each new scene.
I'd figured out how to use the colour spare algo to pick two contrasting colours for the gradient, but again I was doing it manually.
Then I saw a Bubble Card module that just coded this big lookup table of the Hue scene names and a colour and realised that approach is perfectly viable. There's only a hundred or so ones in Hue. I copied that table into a Jinja macro template and it was downhill from there.
why is switchbot curtain speed a device setting instead of an entity

i would like to dynamically modify it so i can have slow or fast curtain automations dammit
and you CAN in the switchbot app, like you can set the speed slow for one opening
I feel like there is likely a way to modify that setting in automations.
but I don't know it. 🤷♂️ I just find it hard to believe there is no way to
at some point i might just fork it and add it cause it doesnt sound hard if its already adjustable

Uhhhh am I the only one who has home-assistant.io down with a cloud flare origin DNS error?
Seems not great, lol
Not just you, It looks like it is having trouble.
yeah same, origin dns error, homepage loads but others dont
There are some cloudflare network issues currently. It may be related to that.
I have raised it in the mod/crow channel. Hopefully someone that can investigate in more detail will see it.
But keep in mint its early in the morning on a Sunday... 😛
It is looking like it is coming back to life now.
Steve the network raccoon has been eating fiber cables again

Would this be the SSL handshake error? Ive been having issues since friday
When the answer to the question, "Do you use Mac or Windows?" is "No."
Not pictured: HA running on bare metal M700 tiny PC, and OPNsense running on Sophos firewall appliance.
in completely unrelated news LE is reducing cert lifespan so if you have days hardcoded somewhere you need to fix it
As previously announced, over the next two years we will be switching the default certificate lifetime from 90 days to 64 days, and then 45 days. This will ultimately double the number of certificate renewal requests each day: today we expect renewal around day 60 (of a 90-day certificate), while in the future we expect renewal around day 30 (of...
Any discussion on entity naming happening somewhere since it was pulled from the previous release?
Likely on GitHub.
Release a phone with that rating nowadays and people loose their mind
Meanwhile Nature been doing it forever
In fairness animals are not to happy with being indefinitely submerged
A study showed that
Hi all,
I created a card, followed the hacs docus and when i generated a "myHA" link and click it, i get the message: " Repository brantje/https://github.com/brantje/ha-cards not found", but github actions is works fine.
Tried to ask on the hacs server, got no answer.
Won't get an answer here either because this is the water cooler
Ah damn, any suggestions where to try?
Ask in the support category :)
Better: self-assign the Developer role in id:customize and ask in the channels for devs.
big fish's lies come out...
Wake up guys, new CVE just dropped
😮
Sorry if links arent allowed, but here's the CVE
Oh that's a few days old at this point.
I only just got the notif myself, didnt see a CVE hit in the chat since Copy Fail so my bad if its stale
The disclosure embargo being broken is probably a bigger issue then the CVE itself.
So it ended up dropping without the CVE assigned yet which disrupted some news stuff about it.
I just got a message of a friend who runs an MSP like "New Week New CVE", my 3 core servers are UnRaid, Proxmox and HAOS, so I checked for updates and HAOS was the only one missing
Then again, its not the most abusable attack vector for HAOS so there's that
Then again, its not the most abusable attack vector for HAOS so there's that
Exactly this, It will get sorted pretty soon but in the mean time. It is unlikely to be a problem.
Is there a chance of a supply chain attack abusing it? Yes I guess so but it is probably unlikely.
True true, it's impressive that the fixes get rolled out as quick as they do imho, big cudos to the devs and their work
That CVE doesn't seem to have any impact on HAOS in the patched 17.3 version.
It seems we don't have the necessary kernel modules active to make this vulnerability viable, see #4693 (review).
Per https://github.com/V4bel/dirtyfrag#why-did-you-chain-two-vulnerabilities, we need at least one path to be explotable:
xfrm-ESP Page-Cache Write provides a powerful arbitrary 4-byte STORE primitive like Copy Fail, and is included on most distributions, but it requires the privilege to create a namespace.
Ubuntu sometimes blocks unprivileged user namespace creation through AppArmor policy. In such an environment, xfrm-ESP Page-Cache Write cannot be triggered. RxRPC Page-Cache Write does not require the privilege to create a namespace, but the rxrpc.ko module itself is not included in most distributions. However, on Ubuntu, the rxrpc.ko module is loaded by default.
Chaining the two variants makes the blind spots cover each other, allowing root privileges to be obtained on every major distribution. For details, refer to the technical details document.
The first path (fixed by the included/backported patch) is not generally exploitable because users in unprivileged containers can't create namespaces (AFAIK the container would need at least CAP_SYS_ADMIN).
The second path is not viable either, because we don't enable CONFIG_AF_RXRPC in our kernel configs.
Seems that this vulnerability doesn't hit HAOS as hard as Copy Fail.
Even better. 🙂
Gotta get redundant coffee shops
RAICS - redundant array of independent coffee shops
I guess that's one plus to stock Debian server coming with almost nothing. You can't hack what isn't installed
You have to install so many common things, but I guess it's better than having a bunch of unnecessary attack vectors
It is a day that ends in y
not weekend
That's two days
Does anyone who's upgraded to 2026.5.1 still have battery indicators in the Overview dashboard? I can't get them to appear anymore, and booting in safe mode didn't fix it so I'm not sure if I did something or if it was an intended change that went live with the maintenance dashboard
here, I mean
There is no support in this channel. #find-support
not looking for support, just a counter example from someone in the community that I'm not going crazy 😄
That's still considered support.

Man, I wish HA had generator support in the energy panel. We have power outages at least once a year due to weather and it freaks out because it doesn't know where power's coming from
I've also learned never to update anything unless I actually need it after the emporia incident™
You could just specify the generator as either grid, solar or battery
The mods will never know
shhhhh
we lurk in the shadows...
Just have to add disclaimers to the end of the stealth support to disavow liability.
This is not medical advice.
Does this mean you could add the raccoon powered treadmill too?!
dont be silly, raccoons only consume energy
they go into "individual devices"
and trash
recycling professionals
Awwww
Please do not give prostate exams over discord
Well the men in this server aren't getting them done to check for cancer in a timely manner!
how does one find the motivation to actually customize a ui
That sounds like the sort of thing you should open an issue on GitHub about. Search first to make sure someone else didn't already do so though.
I'd be surprised if not one person has mentioned it before
Right now I just plug my generator into the panel, but I will eventually have a hard installed generator and would be very disappointed if HA had no support.
You're able to add a second source of power but the way ours is set up, I can't measure how much power is flowing through it
Why the hell do we need a humanoid robot just to lift boxes anyway!?!
I get why they would like human shapped robots because don't have to rebuild the world for robots but we will end up doing that eventually
If my dinner order is delivered by a robot, it better be a doggobot
The transformation to spiderbot was something, especially at night
Like Black Mirror
Someone needs to put truck nuts on that
I'm sure this has been asked but the search in discord is absolute booty cheeks. Was there an update recently that would game killed my zigbee shelly plug connection? It's stopped working and shows as unknown firmware now
Heya the raccoons
change name to "Anything BUT Home Assistant"
I solved it myself, thank you
In a recent survey, 9 out of 10 raccoons agreed with this
1 out of 1 Maxi also agrees, that's a sick icon
I too want raccoon assistant icon
I know where it can be found.
Hmmm. I try not to ask technical questions here, but I didn't find anything in the support area, or any of my searches of the repo or reddit...anyone have the Orbit BHyve stuff stop being able to login in the last day or so for them?
If not I'll create a post.
Oh, I take that back, new post in the last hour. https://github.com/sebr/bhyve-home-assistant/issues/432
Gotta love how fast the community fixes stuffs.
i fucking love the temp/humidity meter i got
this shit is so cool
OOO, The Shelly EM gen4 supports the selection of 50/80/120A CT clamps. the Gen3 only supporting 50A was just awkward. May have to update the gen1's I have at some point...
They changed the connector design twice for those clamps
oh really? The gen1 is just screw terminals anyway so i didn't pay much attention.
I recall the 3em using different ones to the pro 3em
Later can be set to be used with various other ones
But you kinda can't buy it with other ones
Interesting.
How do we reach out moderation? Especially about Facebook. I tried to contact the moderators but that did not work.
hello good people
hello Jeff

And I'm a medium person.
I deserve to go to the medium place, Cincinati
