He absolutely thinks so! ๐
That's the best! My old dog didn't like snuggling, so he of course ended up being snuggled anyways
He also cannot control his licker.
All the goodest boys have licker problems. ๐คฃ
Lucy is impossible in that way too, she'll give you a bath if you don't yell at her
I have the opposite of a problem, when I google about inspelning people talk about the metering being wrong, but for me it's fine. has it been fixed? some of the threads talking about the problems are quite recent, like 1 month
couldn't find anything with ctrl+f in the most recent 3 change logs
I have no clue what you're talking about?
They're power metering smart plugs from Ikea
When I google about them supposedly they used to? report their values off by a factor of 10
Ok well if you want help go to #1284966203026182206
Don't reuse plastic!
Bought this today. Let's see how much I'll regret it.
Aqara Smart Light Switch H2 (2-in-1 Neutral, 4 Buttons, 3 Channels), Thread/Zigbee Protocol, Wall Switch
I'm hoping I can get it to do 4 switches through thread and HA, and no physical power cuts. It seems like it can do that, just a lot of configuration.
Tell ya what, try bringing in anything other than a plastic bottle to the county jail I work at and see what happens. ๐
Huh. I get to badge through and not have to go through metal detectors. Though I'm sure my security isn't as tight as a literal jail.
Everyone goes through the scanner. Especially since there was a corrections officer recently caught and charged with bringing in contraband...
And glass or metal containers are a no no
Here they use drones to fly stuff into the prison
Phones, drugs etc
I have no idea how it works
This is a jail, not a prison. Prison is where you go after sentencing. Jail is for people who have just been arrested. Although we do have a few "permanent" residents here, it's mostly just people waiting arraignment and/or trial.
Everything is different in this server now.
Where is the right place to complain and be sad about how flakey and messed up all my thread stuff is after updates now using the ZBT-1?
i guess it depends if you want help or just to complain?
I'd rather have help, but that usually ends up devolving into everyone just saying "yeah, its kinda busted"
This is pretty painful

Amazon Basic Shivs
The real, unadvertised use for Amazon drone delivery
Is this where I come for noob questions?
No
I installed HA on Ubuntu...but I don't know if that's what I want, or if I even did it the correct way...? -- I want to use HA, but I need to figure out if I should try to run the OS on a machine (metal) or if it's just as good using it via Ubuntu...I don't want to start over again, but I can... -- if I do bare metal...am I correct in understanding the BIOS has to have virtualization capabilities?
Oh
Well - where's the noob questions room? ๐
There are lots of rooms, not sure which is the right one for me.
cool, thank you!
petition to change that back to installation ๐
Hi,
i have reolink cameras, is it possible in HA to have an AI system that plugs into reolink and based on a specific person or license plate detection to have it run an automation?
Reolink plugin seems to only have person and animal detection but not able to detect who the person is. Am I correct?
https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/reolink/
there are ways to route snapshots etc through facial recognition etc. in short, yes you can achieve that. not something to get into in this channel
Sooo, my smart button/dial arrived today, despite Amazon telling me it was still in Chicago, and hasn't departed yet, and was expected 25 Mar to 1 Apr, lol.
For reference, Chicago is around 1000 miles away....
Maybe you get a second one
Heh. Maybe. I ordered just one because I wasn't sure how well it'd work for what I want.
I'll probably grab a couple more if it works like I want.
Plan is to use it to control smart bulbs in the kid's room, and if it works correctly, I may wind up using it for fan and/or light controls as well. We'll see
hey guys, i play video games, and i use a pc. My pc is downstairs compared to where the router is, and i cant use a ethernet cable to get all the way to my pc. are these good solutions? https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B084CZMYNM/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1
TL-PA7017 KIT uses HomePlug AV2 technology to extend your wired internet. With Gigabit Ethernet port, it ensures high speed wired connection, providing data transmissions of up to 1000Mbps and allowing smooth transmission of Ultra HD video streaming. This makes the TL-PA7017 KIT the perfect home ...
They can be. Definitely not as great as a direct line.
yeah, but like i said is way too far :/
the only option is direct cable or those from tp link?
Problem is, if the receptacles used aren't on the same circuit, you're going to have problems.
receptacles?
Power outlets, plugs
like for power electricty?
hello, where's the best place to post a support query about ZigBee devices falling off my network?
If you have a VDSL internet connection and the lines run to close to each other, using Powerline might cause internet connection losses.
and if someone turns on something with a motor then they disconnect
powerline adaptors are dreadful and should not exist. they activly distrupt mains power (not by a huge amount but still some)
Yep. Thatโs how they work. They send the internet signal over power lines in your house
MoCA would be a good alternative.
in a pinch as a tempory solution i do understand people using them but they should not be a perma solution
oh so saying that, if i have those from tp link they use power and then when i start using a lot more power from other things the tp link are less performing?
-# sometimes
ah makes sense, thats cool technology tho, didnt know
what would be the best way to improve my connection without using a direct line?
Better than power line networking.
and out of it onto the mains network
I would look to improve my WiFi long before messing with moca or powerline
thank you!!
wifi long?
over simplification but: they use the AC wave as a clock signal and inject data (interference) at the 0 point (or at least thats how they used to work)
Long before. As in Iโd try to make my WiFi better before trying moca or powerline
how can you make wifi better?
this

your gaming and the fridge motor kicks in and you get massive packet loss for a bit
my fridge?
get a big boy access point. and a wifi card with a big boy external antenna
You get a better access point.
its got a motor and when it kicks in it puts noise on the mains (as all motors do)
what access point should i look to?
ubiquiti stuff is pretty solid
why would i need a wifi card with an external antenna?
Because your signal would be better.
like from the providor ?
big antenna gives better signal than small antenna
Someone needs to do some serious learning before trying the DIY thing...
thats why i asked u guys D:
Big antenna on access point gives better signal. Big antenna on access point and computer give even better signal
oh waitttt for antenna and card you meant the motherboard card right?
and the antennas on pc
bru i thought you were saying external outside home antenna
i am getting higher upload than download on my gaming pc
Ideally if it doesn't move, wire it
would automation be a great channel for that or machine learning?
I pulled up my carpets and laid Ethernet underneath to switches in all the rooms.
10/10 worth the time.
WiFi will always be problematic
true, i would like too, its just that its upstairs between different rooms, so it would need a lot of work with holes and stuff
Power over electrical can also work
the carpet is not upstairs unfortunately
that's not because of your antenna, because it is reciprocal
Exhibit A on why WiFi sucks. It's in the same band as Bluetooth and Zigbee plus other stuff
lol, knowing apple that's probably a limitation of their own hardware
bluetooth is smart enough to jump channels
I had 10 Bluetooth devices connected at that moment. I think I can understand the limitation
okay, i have to ask... why does your (phone?) connect to 10 BT devices? what the hell is it doing?
Long story. But a few health trackers (ring, watch, armband), headphones, keyboard, mouse, and some smart home devices I was reconfiguring
Evening guys... has anyone managed to get a "Mi Band 9" actually working with HA? I've been speaking to the "Notify for Xaomi" group.. and they are stumped too.. I have the HA app and "notify" on my kids phone.. but when it loads is just triggers a "failed login" in HA... I thought it might be cloudflare so I even switched his to the local addresses.. but still no good... any ideas?
absolute chaos
are you secretly frenck or joost?
It's not a normal situation for me...
the BT thing or just chaos in general?
fair
Current status: I've had 2 cocktails, and I have started baking brownies and cookies ๐ค
seems like you have got a semi productive evening under way
or.. and I don't mean to sound facetious.. which other channel would this be better posted in please.. lol
probably #1284966582375813201 as you want to integrate it
if stuff is on the edge of catagories, as long as an effort is made to get it in the right place you will usually be fine
thanks.
This is no joke too. One day I'd knocked the cable out of one of my APs and not noticed, was trying to watch a video on my laptop with bluetooth headphones and it was cutting out.
Laptop was connected on 2.4GHz to another AP down the other end of the house, instead of 5GHz to the one in the same room, and everything had gone to shit.
Its not really the 2.4ghz network fault, do you have a lot overlaping networks in your location? Because unless you're watching 4k ultra everything a 100mbit connection woudl be plenty, just saying ๐
Nope, almost zero visible neighbour networks
This sounds fun
I'm blessed with a house with steel siding....
But connected to a distant AP at around -80dBm does not get you 100Mbps
More like 12, if you're lucky
#the-kitchen has pics ๐
My house has SOLID timber walls. Not timber/plasterboard cavity walls. Solid.
5GHz signal does not make it two rooms from the AP. Not just bad signal, no signal.
ick
I thought your BT went to shit
Lol
I have three APs in a 92mยฒ house.
Also just to further hammer home how bad of an RF environment this is. Two Ruckus R650s and a H550. This ain't yer daddy's UniFi installation. Mine have proper antennas
Interesting my parents home has that issue but itโs because of the water piping in the walls.
It's because of the reflections
I think the walls are also made with horsehair plaster and lath in that part of the house still. Itโs 190 years old lots of weird.
Anybody who talked about radio waves back then was probably burned at the stake
Probably. Like 60 years too early.
At 190 years old we're still a long way inside the domain of "electricity came later"
Seeing the way that was retrofitted into really old houses in the early days is certainly interesting
For sure.
I used to live in a house built in 1833 which was turned into 1 house from 2 in about 1857-58 according to records.
It was interesting at times.
Had it been gutted or were there things like 2 kitchens?
But my Dad didn't get electrocuted until we moved into a house built in the 1930s so there's that
It only had 1 kitchen, but did have a coal cellar
(Which was just as well because we had fireplaces and needed to use them until we installed central heating)
Nice
My parents have a friend in the same town that found secret passages and a hidden room full of shelves on hingesโ so if you opened the secret door wrong the shelves would drop. All for storing booze in prohibition times
I think I'm having a "me" problem since I'm not seeing anything on github or discord about it. I have the same gasbuddy integration hooked up over two different HA instances at two different locations but after 6 months one of them just died. Not quite sure where best to ask about this. Why does it hate me?

My sister lives in an old house like that. It was built in the late 1800s, after the US civil war. The guy who originally built it had been a slave. It was just a cinder block home, but has been added onto multiple times and is now a 2 story home with a 3rd bonus room on top of the end floor. The difference between the original parts of the house and the newer parts is STARK.
When the original owner of the plantation died, his will granted multiple acres to the families of the slaves he had owned, along with letters stating how he regretted his family's part in the whole thing. The road has his name on it now.
This was built out of Cotswold stone and we extended it with more Cotswold stone.
do you heat with natural gas? how many m3 per year?
We had UK style central heating with an oil powered boiler
So we'd get oil delivered about as often as we got our septic tank emptied IIRC
This place was >7 miles from the nearest town. Gas wasn't a choice and this was the early 90s, so solar wasn't an option either.
but then the near surface gas drilling started causing earthquakes
(That came later, and would have been great but not in keeping for the property)
well, but can you imagine if we left profits buried?!
who cares about the side effects as long as its not affecting the shareholders!
it was shell who was responsible ofcourse. And they knew about it for decades and did nothing until buildings started collapsing. Fuckign oil and gas companies are rotten to the core, all of them
and then still did nothing/the bare minimum.
yay profit!

It is easy to understand the Citizens United decision ("corporations are people") if you assume they are the most selfish assholes you have ever met
Folks who would literally stab their own mothers for shareholder value
I'm not sure this has reached the mainstream media yet. But because of the fracking boom in the US there are massive methane leaks all over the place now
@static schooner So I have my kid's button programmed for automations (dim/toggle) downside: it didn't create any buttons, and the device on/off/dim/brighten things didn't do a thing, so I had to use manual events. Upside, I learned how to create manual events. ๐คฃ
i dont understand, what is the best channel to ask for support regarding ZHA and zigbee? i looked at #1284966353798697001 but the tags dont really have anything related to zigbee. same with #1284966540617449515

it just dawned on me that you can no longer see the percentages on frigate anymore

Here we are 3 days after your comment and I was offered the update to 15 today. Went ahead as I've never had problems with HASS........ Now have a major headache as HASS no longer works.
fresh install and restore latest backup would be my general advise if HAOS has broken. if I had more information i would offer it
Backups galore on my my SD card, have just pulled it to see if I can extract the file. Hass keeps booting them going lost connection before I can get the file off the pi.
What's really confusing is that I can't find much online on what the issues are. Seems like a fair few people are having issues and why the update was not pulled.
whilst it doesnt help you right now... you should use the backup system to store backups in other locations other than the device itself.
I cannot speak for the OS team and what their plans are but its definitely something they know about and i am sure it will be addressed soon
Especially if you're rocking it all on a SD card
well yeah... this too but i didn't want to pile on in what i am sure is a stressful situation ๐
https://github.com/home-assistant/operating-system/issues/3943 there is a known issue with RPI 5 getting stuck. For more help please make a thread in the support forum
15.0 does seem to be having some issues on other hardware too to be fair
Like what?
not-booting
It will mess up your colored light settings by offsetting colors in each group so that they are slightly uncomfortable but not easily to point out
add that one to the april fools list
Pi 4 so not sure if it's linked.
Ok, make a support thread
No iossues getting backups off SD card, all on my laptop now. The big problem is the lack of heating / lighting / and internet. DNS is on the Pi with Adguard. The Pi and HASS has been rock sold and stable for 3 years, much more so than my NAS, hence why the DNS is on the Pi.
I usually pull a backup to the laptop if I'm fiddling with things as I'm more likeley to break things. To be honest I wasn't expecting issues with this update. With the number of updates I've seen in the past I thought it was the usual hit the button, sit back and wait a few minutes........
Flashing a fresh SD now, then going to restore. The wife isn't happy.......
yeah its unusual for this kind of problem
definetly look at moving off an SD card though. thats asking for future problems
Rule 1, never put a DNS service on a device that could possibly need updates besides the DNS server
Rule 2, always push out the DNS server over DHCP so it can be quickly adjusted

or have a secondary dns server
Those don't really behave as one would think
Some devices and routers try to load balance over them like idiots
Id always leave the router one be external where it works then have an internal one between the router n client via dhcp
its supposed to send to both and whichever one responds first wins. its not a failover
Comes with the advantage of hostnames set by the router continuing to work
That would be my only option. DNS is over DHCP, but it's a royal PITA to reconfigure. I have a few rules on my router to block DNS to anything other than the PI as I'm having to block all DNS (google etc) as if my devices realise where they are located then I have issues with streaming / iplayer. I'm on an L2TP tunnel back to the UK.
To top it all off the local cell tower shat itself on Sunday and I've been dealing with 5Mb/0.5Mb all week. Usually it's 100/40. Been a nightmare with working from home.
sounds like its been one of those weeks
been dealing with 5Mb/0.5Mb all week
I'd love if my bad days were that fast ๐
It most definitely has been!
Tuesday is D day for the cell provider. 3 months into a 24 month contract (past 24 month contract went without a hitch). If it's not sorted by then I'll cancel the contract and go Starlink.
Hmmm, the v14.2 release is no longer on pi imager. Found the assets on github,
haos_rpi4-14.2.img.xz or haos_rpi4-64-14.2.img.xz
if your fresh installing then try a fresh 15.0 first
Currently in progress, error on boot, networking issue preventing install.
Missing DNS. ๐ฅด

May be a long shot here, but... Anybody know of a good motorized (normally closed) stainless ball valve unit that will work with 200psi compressed air (<1.4MPa)
(like the U.S. Solid valves, but higher pressure rating)
I got my Linknlink mmwave sensors, they work well for the price - testing if they work through drywall. If they do I need to find a USB charger that can be hardwired.
I didn't realize the model I got even had a light sensor, good value for the price if you don't need zones etc
#1284966353798697001 -> recommendations
I just submitted a post there as well
What about one of those motors that slips over a standard ball valve that people use to shut off their water main?
That would probably work, but the clearance is pretty low and having to buy the valve and the valve controller would about double the price. I will go that route if I can't find something that's an all in one. There has to be something with as much compressed air is used in industrial applications.
The retrofit valve motors are sweet

WiFi control ๐คข
Ikea's smart plugs say you're not allowed to plug them into each other, and I really wonder why not
You could probably make a binary counter using the toggle switch-on behaviour xD
I have no context but Tuya is to be avoided
which is unfortunate because it's affordable and everywhere
One of the mods, who will remain nameless || @lone dagger || had a really fun time trying to get their outside lights working
General consensus is that tuya is hot garbage though, you are correct
I'm not aware of all the issues but being internet-dependent is enough for me to want to disregard
Most of these things will have local-only control, even if it takes the community to reverse engineer the protocols. But WiFi connection for smart stuff? Gross. Adding a ton of noisy devices so they all compete for airtime with your phone/laptop/etc? ๐คฎ
I actually had a situation once where I couldn't control my Philips hue lights because no internet
Huh? They use Zigbee, which doesn't give a damn about your internet.
The remotes etc. still worked, but the app didn't
Ah. Just don't use the app ๐
It was a bit of a corner case: my app had been updated beyond the hub thing, and it refused to communicate until the hub was updated too
I didn't have HA or anything at the time
That problem wouldn't come up now that I do, and the existing programs for it still worked, but it still soured me on Hue a bit
Sure. I think that's true of most ecosystems though, right? It's easier for them to make some web-based thing than to make a hub that does both web and local.
I haven't used many devices that treat local control as a priority. Only thing that comes to mind is my Omada switch, where I don't care about even touching the web control side.
Thank god for home assistant!
Iโve got all smart WiFi stuff on my 2.4 (which is my garage opener, thermostat, irrigation controller, 1 esp device I made, 5 Apollo devices, and a handful of lifx lights) network and all of our computers/tablets/phones/AppleTVs are either hardwired or on the 5ghz network. Seems to work fine.
I throw any guests we have on a 2.4 guest network so they can deal with any noiseโ canโt let them get too comfortable ๐
I just don't have guests, much safer and more secure
Hello, anyone know a hardware zigbee that can monitor the DC Voltage. the Purpose is to monitor my Battery Volts
#1284966617670881350 with the "Recommendation" and "Zigbee" tag might know.
nothing fishy going on there at all
looks like a totally normal furry toilet paper holder
you pay him at least?
wish me luck people
no
tomorrow the gas meter gets changed
break a leg
i beg that i can get my esphome reader to work on the new one
or at least that the guy has a digital reader for me to purchase
aren't all new gas/electric meters "smart" ones?
here you get what you get. they replaced the one we got new when the house was built with one nearly ten years older
lol
i dont mind because a reed sensor costs 3 cents but like i want no rf garbage
unfortunately they dont come with p1 yet
or maybe they do
at least rf works
not had any issues with mine even though there certianly does seem to be an uptick in RF devices around my area
germany is so far behind with smart meter rollout it's sad
yes but the solution to them is stupid
at least for electric ones they can put one in and you need to pay for readouts
pay for readouts?
like ??? no thanks
pay?
yea its some flat fee calculated over your yearly consumption. could also consider it a bonus charge for renting
at least thats what ive seen
lol they should be paying you for all the data they get to use to diagnose their grid
yep
even the people in the water sink have all the smart stuff!
tbh id like getting something with a p1 readout
gives me a reason to buy something from homewizard again
P1 is great
their watermeter is excelent
they know water you mean

i just hate companies naming their apps not like them
oh of course my senheiser can be controlled with "smart" and homewizard is "energy"
like come on its not that difficult
im not searching for healthy food and getting the kfc app either
what is KFC like over there?
saw some menu diffrence with the McDonalds in norway and japan.. it's like not even the same joint as here
terrible
like if you dont go for their coupons it makes no sense to get there in the first place
and then its always tasting like dry shit
crazy
fast food got expensive here but it's mellowed some. still higher than it should be imo
like the usual brand fastfood is just not something anyone with a brain would get here
like your avg meal there costs as much as in any other better food shop
oh a burger and fries for 15 bucks??? surely they would put meat on there like anyone else
well someone has to be going there otherwise they wouldn't exsist
5guys for less than 25 just aint a thing
crazy
i mean i dont mind if it would result in people eating more healthy
but they dont so whats the point
meal combo at mcd here is 20 euros + 6 for delivery. What are they thinking
like 20 bucks i sit down at a restaurant and get table side service
ironically fast food is healthier for you now then it use to be lol
back then they had more fun with cocain in their drinks aswell
its just going downhill since then
You got 5guys? o.0 are you in Austria?
Payment with grapes
tbf 5 Guys was stupid expensive in the States the last time I looked.
(and it's not even particularly good)
I had it in Ireland once
it was pretty meh
this depends on the location and people making it
weird how people can manage to fuck something up as simple as fast food
for sure, but that sort of inconsistency, coupled with the price, is a good enough reason to not go to any of them.
just avoid chains in general ๐คท
well you don't stop going to the grocery store to buy apples just because you found one bad one
I fully agree with this. I haven't eaten at a chain (with the exception of when traveling and it's literally the only choice) in probably 18 years.
I couldn't limit my pallet that much
Aren't you the guy who freaks out anytime @tidal bronze posts something food related?
Anyway, there are an abundance of local restaurants where I live, so I'm not exactly suffering.
plenty of food option without having to result to eating bad food
Difference is you can pick what apples you want to buy
nothing keeping you from checking your food before buying
I can't really check the quality of something that is made to order
Vs something thats loose in front of me that I can pick up and judge
well in either case, just like the apple. you can return the food and get your money back. and usually if the food isn't that bad, could result in free food
You have good food in middle earth?
Wow! Simply wow!
Hamburgers in particular are just so easy to make that I don't bother buying that at a fastfood restaurant. I can make a burger that is better and much cheaper
Same with pizza or pasta really
Yes hello, one lobster to go please

well thats ominous

Zwave network: I have decided to be alarmingly slow
Me: Attempts to debug
Also Zwave network: Just kidding imma speed back up, but only until you give up.
you angered Heisenberg it seems
Radio wave goes: Nope, just not feeling the vibe right now...
yea, I kind of want to get a decent SDR kit to debug wifi shenanigans
I used a Zniffer to see zwave routing and retries. It led me to replace a crappy routing device
The UZB3 dongle was the best one at the time: #zwave-archived message

wtf you can finally upgrade reolink shit from the app and not have to download zip files anymore? what a time to be alive!
I could hook it into Gemini if I wanted to do something like that
If I can find something reasonably priced, I might get a GPU (Jetson?) box to run the NN parts locally
I'd like to get a TPU, but from what I've seen the support for them is still iffy and sometimes quite fiddly
Getting kinda long in the tooth, these days
(the TPU, that is)
People keep writing newer, more CPU-destroying things
๐คท there's also lots of things intended to run at least partially on GPU, so it should be fine with an accelerator to offload to
TPU's are made for very specific edge things like low-power machine vision and etc.
not the same as the slop generation stuff.
Meanwhile back at home:
Well it just doesn't say that the Temp in the microwave is abnormal (Meaning it's idle and reading -17.)
Which is below the normal 30 setpoint and flags it.
... yes but why ? ๐ค
It's a Samsung thing.
ah yes, the needlessly smart microwave bullshit
And those aren't the only badges that might appear.
(The HomeBase isn't armed one lets you arm it from there, so it's the only one with an available action.)
There's also Trilium and friends which are very much not made for low power edge tasks
but also not easily accessible as hardware to buy
You can read the temp from your microwave digitally..?
Trillium TPU is a key component of Google Cloud's AI Hypercomputer, a groundbreaking supercomputer architecture

we don't even use it. And we are an Alphabet company

sounds like a "too late" situation
on out or low? lol
and if low, whats the point of out
When low (Less than 6 bottles.)
Out means there's 0.
sounds like a waste automation imo
It's done freezing itself!
in theory you should never see out and if you did it was likely after you already realized through the typical means lol
Have you tried microwaving the microwave?

hey i work on these
my homelab server has an intel arc a380 and a coral tpu, so i like to joke with my coworkers that it "has a better gpu than a <insert latest tpu platform> and a better tpu than a <insert latest gpu platform>"
at first i didn't even recognize these without the rest of the chassis and heatsinks
Are those SFP sockets?
I never looked into how they are connected. I just assumed PCIe tbh.
there are some pretty cool papers that have been publicly published detailing design details for the water cooled TPU platforms
probably.. QSFP28 or larger.
I think the lower profile ones with sockets embedded halfway behind the cages are probably some sorta PCI link
yea, sadly we can't tour DCs
needs business reason and L7+ approval to get in
wait fellow googler?
i wish i could do a headcam of a day of what i do in the DCs lol
I'm in Intrinsic (other bet)
ah
I believe it's called a "CDFP" connector. Have seen it in a few external cabled PCIe 4.0 x16 designs
afaik we are the only people in (formerly) X that are outside the US
i don't think i'm allowed to confirm or deny this but where did you find this info?
We've been looking at one of these at work to act as a big external removable drive:
https://www.highpoint-tech.com/nvme-raid-enclosure-matrix
The NVMe RAID AIC Adapter Matrix lists all of HighPoint's SSD7000 & SSD7500 series, their hardware specifications, supported features and operating systems.
They identify the connector thusly
ah, makes sense it wouldn't be a proprietary thing
I'd also suggest the QSFPs are likely QSFP28, because anything higher throughput (QSFP56, QSFP-DD, etc) usually has a heatsink
i've spent a good chunk of time over the past 6 months diagnosing issues related to these (and other components on the same pcie path)
you are forgetting another higher throughput option
QSFP112?
I mean also OSFP, but those are physically larger
I've spent a lot of time lately getting annoyed by the lack of interoperability between a lot of these options without very expensive DACs with built-in retiming hardware
I mean.. the goal is stupid performant connectivity in expensive servers.
so not like they give a fuck about things like that; at that level?
I work for an organisation with 8-figure budgets, not 10/11-figure ones.
Sometimes "new shiny thing" has to be made to connect to "old (but still faster than 99% of the population could dream about) thing"

big fan of how we just release a whole lot of this stuff publicly
TPU v5p is what i've spent the majority of the last 6 months deploying
like some really technical public papers too
ye, google has some nice sides
it doesn't really explain much about the chip itself. It's a benchmark paper
well yeah i doubt they're gonna publish chip layouts lol
but it's still a whole lot more info than i'd ever guess would be public

Anyone use homekey with their door lock and ha? Can you tell me if you have to unlock your device, then click your wallet, then select the homekey or it just lets you swipe it on the reader while your iOS device is locked?
You have two options once you configure the home key on your phone. You can either tap the lock with your phone and it will automatically prompt for Face ID. Or you can enable express mode and just tap the lock with your phoneโ no further authentication.
You do not need to unlock your phone or open the wallet first.
how do you add a homekey to an iOS device
do you touch the phone to the lock while in wallet or something?
Can anyone tell me how well zwave penetrates walls? Im looking to buy a motion sensor and cant find any decent ones for wifi. My HA instance is in my garage in an enclosed rack. My motion sensors are on the other side of my house lol.
The wallet. This this isnโt a support channel though so you wanna probably look at YouTube for this
nah I don't own anything apple besides a single iOS mobile device. I'm trying to use this https://github.com/rednblkx/HAP-ESPHome/blob/main/homekey-test-s3.yaml but not many esphome users know a much about the iOS platform in general and locks so though I would find someone that has done it before.
Still the wrong place for this
it somehow lets you scan a homekey with it and acts as a bridge. Just not sure once installed on the esphome where you would scan it in iOS
You're not getting the hint are you?
I'm looking for a person that has done the process not looking directly for the answer here. They can explain the answer in a DM.
I would personally ask that at a watercooler.
You're more likely to get assistance in one of the support channels

I've got a light base that take 3x 40w B10.5 bulbs. Trying to find good options at the B10.5 is hard. Anyone got any good suggestions? Needs to be warm light, no flicker. If I could get higher than 40w LED equivalents for this that would be awesome.
Thanks. Wasn't sure if that was meant just for connected hardware or what.

But it does do local, Hue doesn't normally go over the web at all. It was just a corner case where the app refused to connect to the hub due to a version mismatch and I couldn't update the hub
Theoretically I could have downgraded my app
by going somewhere with public internet...
In my case, just not updating the app when away from home also would have prevented the issue
Not updating is just fighting against the stream
Like I am not updating my Synology because they removed features
In my case, it was the desynchronisation of versions that was the problem
My app became more updated than my hub, because I had no home internet but my phone had internet
I currently have my Home Assitant connected to my domain through Cloud flare and have proxy on, I keep it up to date and uses long complicated passwords. Is there anything I should be worried about security wise?
Yes, if you are not using 2FA.
Gotta add hand-rolled encryption too just so no-one knows how to crack it
Where do i post for a HA ui bug
if it's a core thing, frontend github

Is the new zwave js interface buggy? Half of my devices quit working after upgrade.
#1284966617670881350 zwave tag.
Is it possible to name devices automatically based on their area, type, etc?
wondering why the voice assistant demo isn't working, and it's missing in my settings, before realizing HAOS is years out of date on my device
also wondering why a ton of add-ons are telling me I need to update. I'm on 2025.3.6, why is it telling me I need to update to 2023-something? And why is the latest version 2025.3.4?
no i'm just a dummy,I was actually on 2023.3.6 and I can't read
ah, 2023. 'twas a simpler time
a little over $300 to have a windshield replaced in 2025 is insane
insane in a good way
You replace a windshield?
had a windshield replaced yea
mine was quite a bit more expensive than that
but some of that was recalibrating sensors and such
on a windshield?
yep
I thought rain sensors etc weren't actually placed on the glass
I also have a camera to read street signs up there
it's behind the glass, but apparently needs some work
interesting. this was on a early 2000's car so no fancy stuff lol
my car is like a pufferfish of sensors
actual work required: literally hitting a single button probably
I don't know if this is actually true, but:
When it is time to replace your car windshield that is Equipped with Windshield Night Vision System, all the cameras and sensors are removed and reattached after windshield installation. A recalibration procedure is then required to ensure that this critical safety system is functioning properly and is performing in accordance to the manufacturer tolerances.
and I don't have that specific system
shit like that is what drove up the price of older used cars lol
think i just squished the grandfather of all mosquitos and have no idea how the hell the thing even got into this room
howdy. Looking into lighting and I saw people reccomend the ikea Tradfri. I have a couple of Phillips Wiz lightbulbs. why dont people recommend the wiz that often? which come for 10.99 a bulb?
if I had to guess because of phillip's habits of shitty decisions and dickishness with their app? ๐
yeah "phillips" would be the main answer there
I only turn on the lights through google home tbh
no you use google home via phillips app I presume?
as I doubt phillips would ever just..
... let things work without their bullshit in the middle?
i dont even have the philips app
also: the Tradfri is zigbee and the wiz is wifi
edit: im a liar
i have the wiz app
it's a set it once and then control from google home forever after
"for now"
do you have them vlan'ed away from the internet?
hue app was like that before.
and then... phillips changed the deal because fuck you.
i forgot the pain in the ass the wifi setup is for the philips wiz - requires 2.4ghz network
I do not
if not then theres no reason why phillips cant push a firmware update and charge you to turn the bulb on
atleast it looks like they have local communication settings in the app
from a quick google search
yeah, Iโm just saying better than Ring and stuff lol
I'm looking into getting smart bulbs for my overhead lighting in my new apartment hence looking into the sub.
I'm thinking just buy packs of tradfri and call it a day
they currently have local stuff yeah which is good but they dont have any crediability for us to beleive it will stay that way
Any reason youโre not doing a switch?
could also just use regular dimmable bulbs and grab a shelly smart switch or something.. ๐
overhead lighting gets expensive for a bunch of bulbs
tbh i am not knowledgable about switches. am open to learning though
are you renting I assume
yes I am renting
may not be an option if renting, landlord probably wonโt let you in most cases
well then bulbs only, probably. then. ๐คทโโ๏ธ
there is going to be overhead lighting in both the living room and bedroom
ah ok good to know
will pocket the switches for when i buy a home someday^tm
haha thats funny..
you're not a boomer you don't get that. /s
assuming each overhead light has 2 bulbs i probably will need about 6 if I account for 2 floor lamps as well
just remember to keep the dumb bulbs to put back in when you move out
for sure will leave em in a closet somewhere
maybe 8 if I go small lamps as well and get some kasa smart switches
... most parasites landlords don't want people fucking with wires
i've been drowning myself with interior design stuff this past week
kasa is another one i dont overally trust
when in doubt.. prefer shelly whenever possible. ๐
If you get HomeKit compatible stuff you should be mostly ok. But best is getting something thatโs zwave or zigbee.
does shelly make wifi plugs as well?
because they've been... shown to not be a shitbag (and their hardware is basic esp stuff and can be flashed if you want)
Yeah; they do
yeah, go with shelly if you can
oh wowza they do
they are not that much more expensive than other wifi plugs but they are alot better
im surprised the 4pack is cheaper on amazon
thanks for the recommendation will look into it more
if im reading the room properly tradfri is the easy recommendation for smart bulbs
yeah zigbee stuff has its benifits
anyone know if there are outdoor rated motion sensors that work with HA?
Zooz has one I think
google is like no help
Z-Wave
use a camera
i wanna turn my firepit lighting off when no one is there
i'm surprised the tradfri product page doesnt market the color temperature
Outdoor MultiSensor PRODUCT HIGHLIGHTS Security alerts: Get instant motion reports to your Z-Wave hub whenever movement is detected. More climate data: Monitor temperature outdoors or indoors and use this information to trigger connected devices in your system. Smart lighting: program your Z-Wave outdoor lights to come
use a camera and frigate ๐
thatโs more of hassle than itโs worth when they could just get a motion sensor
yeah
if they already have frigate set up, sure
looking for simple
90% of my stuff is already alexa level
just use HA for the bridge to zigbee stuff
ehh.. 2.4ghz radar sensoor even betteer.. probably
dunno if thereโs any outdoor ones
I mean.. most are made ๐
that is PIR. so you will get false negatives from people being still. and in this case false positives from the fire pit
pir outside is fine for turning a light on when you walk outside but not for static pressence detection
I donโt know of another good option then tbh.
frigate, or mmwave.. or combination
Camera sounds too complicated for something โsimpleโ like that
what's the differnece between these two? clearly the globe is clear for the 13.99 one
https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/tradfri-starter-kit-smart-wireless-dimmable-warm-white-20541554/
"Adjustable white tones" is the best description they provide
TRร DFRI starter kit, smart wireless dimmable/warm white, E26 This kit is already pre-paired, so all you have to do is screw the light source into the lamp socket and then start using your smart lighting. You can dim your lighting wirelessly and easily adapt the lighting based on activity.
mmwave outside is no good because of false positives. because nature moves ๐
camera and frigate is the best option IMO
ah.. if you hover over the "color' you get a description
clear globe can have a range of 2700 to 4000K while the opaque globe is only 2700 and dimmable
Do you usually turn it on at night or on a schedule somewhat?
It may be easier to just have it auto shut off at a certain time
like 11pm, midnight or 1am
not really, just on nice nights when we use the firepit
ortherwise the low light solar powered stuff is fine
i'm doing more digging into the zigbee hubs and now I know what you guys are referring to when saying HA
If I'm understanding correctly the option would be (if I want automations)
A. buy the DIRIGERA + STYRBAR from ikea
B. Buy HA + STYRBAR
if you get zigbee devices just get a https://www.home-assistant.io/connectzbt1/ for your home assistant server
you dont need any other hubs
wow that's awesome. So I just plug it into a usb port and it'll act as the hub?
more or less
i suppose the styrbar is just a remote for when I don't want to use a smartphone to control the bulbs
does this mean all I'll need is the bulb(tradfri)+ the Connect ZBT-1?
the styrbar is a zigbee remote so you will be able to do anything in HA with it
yup
what would the interface be to control the bulbs?
something like the google home app?
whatever you want it to be
a dashboard on the home assistant companion app. a switch, whatever you decide to connect to HA
Not sure if it was mentioned, left for a little bit, you need a computer of some sort to run HA on
or can grab one of their premade hubs
will it always need to be on?
ah I see
Iโd advise against raspberry piโs if youโre looking into equipment
Can grab a used mini PC for similar pricing and get way better specs
can use something like the green - https://www.home-assistant.io/green/
get one of those and and a zbt-1 to go with it and you will be fine
i'm starting to realize that
if your main purpsoe is builbs and a few automations then a green is a great option
its super low power consumption too
If youโve ever installed operating systems before, Iโd honestly advise you to grab a $60 mini PC off eBay as itโll give you more room for expansion. Otherwise, yeah Green is great for people not so experienced and just want plug and play.
yeah all i really want is the
- ability to turn on/off using my phone/smart hub (like google home)
- ability to dim/change color without switch
- automated cycles/configurations
green should be fine then
a green would be a great device for that, comes installed and ready to work out the box
i'm still mapping a mental model for how all of this connects so apologies for being slow to connect the dots
Home Assistant is the central โhubโ for everything. Zigbee is a no-internet wireless protocol. The USB dongle emits Zigbee and you can pair devices to it that are compatible. Home Assistant gets internet access (or not) and lets you control it while the devices have no internet if you wish.
That means manufacturers canโt push an update bricking a device or remove something you use.
I see so zigbee is a protocol kind of like wifi/bluetooth
Yes
yup
You can also look into Z-Wave stuff, depending on what you branch off into
I have both on my instance
zwave is probably worth avoiding unless you need it for something tbh
it has its own problems
Iโve had a better experience on Z-Wave than Zigbee personally, seems like it depends on the person
Home Assistant gets internet access (or not) and lets you control it while the devices have no internet if you wish.
this means this could all be setup without any internet connection? so long as the hub( HA green) is on, ZBT-1 is powered, and the device is within the proximity?
my 2.4ghz frequencies are a mess so itโs a little unstable
yep
that's so freaking neat
Home Assistant works on your local network (your network inside your house)
that means you can unhook your Internet cable and still have it work and control it from inside your house
my biggest issue with z wave and why i consider it a non starter is that there are 2 freqency bands that it uses which are not cross compatable. its supposed to be "one for EU and one for US" but does the comapny making them in china know or care
Iโm in the US, so itโs not a huge issue here as most devices Iโve seen are designed for the US
in the EU though yeah I wouldnโt recommend zwave as much
Unhook internet cable from the hub (HA Green)?
I had a really smug sensation with that yesterday. Someone in the New Zealand discord was asking if anyone else's Mitsubishi heat pump WiFi control wasn't working. Hadn't even noticed (using the local "EchoNet Lite" control, not internet)
Letโs just say your internet goes offline. You canโt access whatever website you want. You can still access home assistant because itโs all running inside your house and not reaching out to cloud services before you interact with it.
does that imply that the hub (HA Green) continues to be a repeater for the devices in the proximity
Not really
you could disconnect it yeah and if you have zigbee remotes and bulbs it would still work. but to access dashboards and configuration you would need networking
^
I just mean like the fiber cable or coax / whatever
the WAN cable connecting you to the worldwide internet ๐
if your internet goes down you can still turn the lights on ๐
which is a bigger issue then people think and they only realise it when the internet goes out and they are stuck in the dark looking for a spare dumb bulb
ah I see so we're not talking about the cable connecting to the hub but my ONT
Thatโs why I use smart switches when I can ๐คฃ
sure.
dont dwell on it, it was just a throw away comment
point is the control is all local, not via various servers all over the world
i hear you. I enjoy understanding something end to end so that I can understand what happens when things go awry
Itโs especially useful for stuff like cameras
Ring, Nest and a bunch of others require you to have an Internet connection to record video. Internet goes out, you lose the footage
If you get something local, you donโt have that dependency
That was mainly an example ^
fucking ring doorbells fuck me right off. they bill you to use it like a normal doorbell. and then when they have an issue in their Datacentre your doorbell doesnt ring
that makes sense. built in redundancy from external fuckery
It pains me to see neighbors with Ring doorbells ๐คฃ
delivery drivers have started activly not interacting with them here.
bang on the door instead. because if someone is not there they dont want to talk to them because its of no use to them
lol ones here donโt even do that. They just leave the package at the porch now
some do that some dont. some depends on the value
Yeah if you have a package that needs a signature they try to reach you
if i'm undersatnding correctly
- setup HA Green (plug in ethernet, power)
- power ZBT-1
- use Home Assistant app/access Home Assistant user interface
- Connect my bulbs (?)
- set up automations via google home(?)
oh sweet. I guess if I want to turn on/off via voice through google home then I'd set up that integration
If you want voice control, one thing to know is that youโll need to pay for either HA cloud or go through some steps to make your own skill/app for Google home to connect to. I think if itโs newer though you can just use the Matter protocol to expose HA devices to Google Home
yeah, the easy way to do that is by getting home assistant cloud
its one of the very few "paid features"
It seems this is the tradeoffs of going wifi or zigbee
Matterbridge is what I use for like 3/4 of my devices I have exposed to Alexa. Something to look into, Iโm pretty sure it works with Google Home also.
if i am the only one in and i am in the back i have an automation that sounds alarms and flashes lights all over the housee. i could a driver once saying he rang the bell when he didnt. his face when i pressed it and the whole house went nuts...
lol I have something similar when the alarm system triggers
the lights dim on and off continuously, all the speakers blare alarm soundsโฆ until disarmed
even the outdoor cameras have sirens play
some wifi stuff can connect directly to both to be fair
one of the best parts of my reolink camera outside ๐
i guess for people who dont find it worth the $ to localize their smart home set up, wifi bulbs provide powerful capability for a fraction of the price (although you are exposed to the risk of external fuckery)
If you have a Reolink doorbell, there was a firmware update enabling HDR today or yesterday FYI
I just updated mine, looks so much better
i wish, currently i am stuck with a ring setup. because of living situation
my alternative seems to be get the wiz lightbulbs, rely on smartphone/googlehome or physical light switches
smart relays behind switches is my go to. switch still works as normal and can control remotly or with automations
if i'm not mistaken it seems like if I'm okay with forgoing the redundancy that running HA locally provides, then
A. purchasing the wiz lightbulbs at $10 a piece
B. purchasing the HA Green, ZBT-1 , then the Tradfris at $14 a piece
values the local redundancy at about 150$
which hasn't factored the cloud solution that i'd need to pay for in order to allow voice control
you donโt have to pay for the cloud service, itโs just the easy way to do it
if you can follow a YouTube video, itโs not too bad to do it yourself without paying anything
but yeah, youโre gonna spend more for a HA setup
the benefits are you have way more flexibility however
itโs like a portal to doing whatever you want for the most part in terms of smart home ๐คฃ
the cost is probably easier to justify as I learn more of the capabilities that I unlock with HA
definitely.
Let me see if I have a screenshot of my dashboard already censored
just so you can get an idea

This isnโt a great screenshot but found it quick so whatever.
yeah that guys stuff is pretty good to start on
ah once you go ring cameras this becomes much easier to justify
where as i'm just trying to do 8 lightbulbs hah (for now)
possibilities are endless
doing car are we ๐
automate and track all the things ๐
hwo does getting car stats work? is there a zigbee hardware that is monitoring that in your car?
2 methods for me.
- is the car's API which gives me some data (slowly and badly)
- i have a esp32 attached to the diagnostics port that gets data from the ECU and reports it over wifi
HA setup seems likea buy it for life type of thing - pay the upfront cost today, and then slowly build out my smart home over time (hence the rabbit hole)
never justify ring cameras.. because fuck their lack of nice interop ๐
i have some devices on the system that i am not happy to haave there but weeding them out as and when i can convince people to get rid of them
It seems like if someone doesn't think controlling the lights via google home is worth $65 a year(through HA Cloud), then the user can just abandon that need and control wirelessly via remote/smartphone
I see the GCP documentation but it doesnt mention cost / month
you are entirely free to link it to google home yourself.
via the GCP route?
doesn't have a monthly cost
one time cost I think to unlock GCP or something
but its not much.
yeah true
this has been a fun rabbit hole
spent 3 hours reading
thanks for all the help, will look into this more tomorrow
I've been using it for a while
not that; thats likely to continue considering that google is just driven to make assistant be replaced with gemini's horseshit
i wonder what the rate of power consumption from wiz to zigbee would be that allows one to break even assumign that wiz energy consumption > zigbee
so maybe buying HA Green + ZLT-1 + setup GCP for google home + 8 bulbs runs me about 300$
The idle power difference between a WiFi and a Zigbee bulb is going to be measured in tenths of a watt
Half a watt difference would be about $1 - $1.50/year for average kinds of energy prices.
If you think the bulb's lifespan is going to be long enough to make up the difference, then by all means.
oh i wonder if shelly will release a v2 version of the uni but with zigbee capabilities
https://us.shelly.com/products/shelly-1pm-mini-gen4
Maybe considering they just started releasing the gen4 which has wifi, zigbee, bluetoooth, and matter altoogether
yea the uni isn't on the roadmap (yet) that I have seen but fingers crossed
cause if the uni gets zigbee capabilities.. wow
I have my doubts.
The Uni doesn't really fit the usual Zigbee device profiles. It can almost be everything.
thats why it would be so awesome
it does have it's limitations to be able to send what any zigbee device out can like voltage metering, control relay etc
my understand of the shelly gen4 stuff is you can literally swap between zigbee and wifi by pressing the button. so you could set something up through the wifi gui and then swap to zigbee mode but it's not like you can't send commands to zigbee as is
I just hope those devices don't like revert back to default wifi after extended periods of time with no power.. that would suck so much to have to fish that sucker from behind a wall switch or something to press that button 5 times
its just an esp32.
its not gonna happen like that unless you really leave it unpowered for a long time
what is considered a "long time" tho? I have no idea
its an EEPROM on an esp32.. I dont know; but fairly long.
Jeff a little late to the game lol https://youtu.be/5M_hmwBBPnc?si=ARKK6AidqnDKh06K
I don't recommend the Bosch 500 series. It's dumb.
Sadly, it seems all appliance manufacturers are going this route. Where will we be in 5-10 years next time I need to buy a new dishwasher? Probably even worse off.
If you want to follow in the footsteps of my pain, by all means, here's an Amazon Affiliate link lol: https://amzn.to/4jgULZ1

The ElecTrak system is one of the strangest UK plug designs out there. Youโll often find it in supermarkets where they really donโt want anyone accidentally unplugging important equipment.
#plug #socket #electricalinstallation
probably, too safety friendly.
if it can't shock a child its definitely not american
Assuming it's stored in eeprom or somesuch... Looks like anywhere from decades to weeks depending on environmental conditions.
https://electronics.stackexchange.com/questions/521712/do-eeproms-lose-their-data-over-time#521739
Probably closer to decades.
A long time ago. I would go to a house of a friend. Ring the door and ask to the mom or dad who opened the door if a friend of mine was home.
Has anybody noticed the govee integration has stopped working

My wife: "I made scrambled eggs" and my brain immediately pictured eggs flying WW2 era fighters. "Enemy fighters have entered our airspace, scramble eggs immediately!" Why am I like this?! ๐คฃ
An alpha egg scramble

Lol well I recognized the aircraft immediately, looks like a classic p-51d mustang, even if you hid the classic bubble canopy, the radiator underneath gives it away and the rest of the build
Idk but i would not make jokes of toughts like that to others they dont get it.
Close but not quite
5 bladed prop means it has to be the XP-51G prototype (although the tail number is wrong... silly AI)
But yeah the P-51 silhouette is quite distinctive with the squared tail and wings, and that underbelly radiator. I still prefer the Spitfire aesthetically but it's a beautiful plane
They're all good planes
Spitfire > Mustang, if only for the reason that it's British
Gotta give our allies those superior upgrades, right?
I didn't realise there were so many spitfires still around. An estimated 60 are still airworthy.
you would say that
you realize they were different planes designed for different roles right?
Not even "later" really, the vast majority of Mustangs except the very first ones had the Merlin engine
I've seen at least a few flying at the eaa
To be fair the Mustang wasn't really "designed" for its eventual role at all
It was initially designed for the British as a CAS aircraft (fighter bomber, tactical reconnaissance etc), using the low altitude Allison engine. Made by an American company for the British, with an American engine - mostly because British factories didn't have capacity
One British guy realised it would be amazing with the Spitfire's engine (RR Merlin) in it, and it became a decent high altitude aircraft. Then it was realised it had plenty of space in those laminar flow wings for fuel tanks and it ended up being a high altitude, long range escort for both the RAF and USAF
A great combination of British and American together - American designed to British specifications, then swapped to a British engine
Although yeah, neither of those roles are the same as the Spitfire's interceptor role which it was always intended for
There's a reason I specifically said I prefer the Spitfire aesthetically rather than as a blanket "it's better" because I agree with you, comparing across roles is silly. I just think the Spitfire is prettier
Arguably the best piston fighter of WW2 is neither, I'd probably give the crown to the Hawker Tempest or Ta-152 - but it's easy to turn up at the end of the war and "beat" designs that have been fighting for years, so it's a bit of a hollow victory
Don't forget it was designed in 91 days
Which is utterly impressive to go from zero to flight
The P51 was a pursuit aircraft, not a dog fighter. Hence the P in the designation.
was way more than just that. the general public was real patriots. miracles can happen when you unite a country lol
Me, knowing it's actually this: https://youtu.be/07rtBip9ixk?si=_KnxfB0u1nEPevI_
The TF-19 Drone Flamethrower attachment is the first of its kind, available for sale now https://throwflame.com/
https://www.instagram.com/throwflame/
https://www.facebook.com/Throwflame/
are you saying there isn't a certian genius to that?
Yeah, more maneuverable. Plus it's smaller, making it harder to hit from a moving vehicle.
its a spy plane
Also, easier to build a DIY flame throwing drone than to buy a private aircraft and refit it. ๐คฃ
curious about the whole drone direction we'll end up going now that Ukraine shown the world where we are all severly lacking lol
like drone fever in this country anymore
Everyone else: has beware of dog signs
Me: beware of armed drones sign
Rtsp camera on a drone, run through llmvision for facial recognition... ๐คฃ
Honestly, anyone with a shred of historical knowledge should've seen it coming. Humans can turn pretty much anything into a weapon of some sort.....
if by "prettier" you mean more feminine than I would have to agree lol
Mustang was a bulldog
if I have a Shelly 2PM whose O2 is always on no matter what that sounds like an RMA, right?
if you can't control the relay rather through the shelly app, nor any other means then yea
assuming you can connect to it
yeah I can connect and toggle O1 just fine. the O2 relay doesn't even make the click sound
lucky me got a faulty unit in the largest switch cluster in the house with just 6 shelly devices in a single wall cutout
they may ask you to power cycle it if you haven't already
multiple times yeah ofc. almost burned out my blind motor
lol
it shat itself during calibration, suddenly the motor stopped moving and went BRR
(which is what happens when both directions get power simultaneously I guess)
so yeah, fun times
1 out of 14 isnt too bad I suppose
WAT
I created an RMA and instantly got a full refund
yea shelly is a solid company
nah, local shop.
thing is I bought 8 double packs so I got a full refund for a double pack even though just 1 unit was faulty ๐คท eh, can't complain
tbf they'd done a bunch of work beforehand, the 91 days is a bit of a stretch. It was stil; impressively fast development though regardless
I mean, "pretty" tends to refer to more feminine features, so kinda? It's sleek with curves in the right places etc
P-47 is the bulldog, if anything. Rough and blunt and aggressive
Good customer service. It's that kind of thing that means I end up spending money at that store for years
yeah just don't tell my wife haha
The old "my greatest fear is that I die and my wife sells my <insert hobby> equipment for the price I told her I paid for it"
Hi all, iโm just casually looking if someone would be interested in collaborating with me on making an integration, i have an idea, i can do the graphics part, know a little bit about programming but no clue on how to actually build something ๐
Perhaps ask in #1284966582375813201 and be clear about what you want to integrate
It brought friends!
someone bought a lemon
It's 7 years old!
It's a Ford, before you have to ask.
Found On Road Dead
It's sitting in the driveway
Sometimes they don't even get to the road
I don't know if newer generations do this but I certainly enjoyed those being thrown around a lot when i was younger
First On Race Day
I have a concrete wall between my garage door keypad and the rest of my house... my zwave works great for everything but this door. Have not had success with repeaters. I do have WiFi/Ethernet in the garage though.
is there any sort of PoE or ethernet/Zwave bridge? My server running HA/zwave is in the house
Try asking in #1284966353798697001
I use esp32 based controller for garage door thats rock solid, in zigbee there are SMLIGHT SLZB poe, unknow for zwave tech
Haven't found any for zwave that are PoE unfortunately
Ol' mate tubes is making one
If your garage door opener are old enought without security communication keypad you can do any alternative, I do same thing like athom garage door opener custom with more add on to replace bad myq system who stop api call from unoficial app
has anyone managed to get google sheets integration working without using a domain? using the ip address instead?
trying to pull data from a cell, but don't care to subscribe to nabu casa and don't want to expose home assistant to internet
Why not just put a domain there?
#1284966582375813201 may know but it shouldn't be too difficult to follow the default setup
Where can I find a link to actually download the image for HAOS? I read "getting started" and it mentions it several times, but the links just take me to a page that compares HAOS to other installs, or explain what it is - I see zero links, either on the front page, or the "Getting Started" documentation, to actually acquire the OS image
@lunar sundial of course you have a fancy role here
That's a step by step guide for flashing the image
This belongs in #1284966540617449515
