Stuff is just weird at work this morning. I'm a Federal employee.

Usually after a weekend I've got at least a few dozen tickets to look at. Most of them aren't for me; we have a shared queue with all the L1/2 IT support folks for our Area. I can usually start planning out my work week: who needs in-person visits, start scheduling Teams calls with people, see if anyone wants to see about ordering computers and schedule time with them to go over options and/or fill out spreadsheets + send instructions to them for how to actually place the order, figure out if I need to get into various systems to make changes to our public-facing stuff, and so on. You know...Typical "generalist IT stuff."

Being a three-day weekend, I expected about thirty tickets to look at.

This morning? Three. Total.

None for me. None for any of the ground-pounders in our Area. Outside of that, no direct e-mails asking for help, no texts, no Teams messages, no calls.

After the illegal firings, either everybody's just numb and shook, or they just don't give a f right now.

Yup. Aluminum electrolyte caps have a sort of acidic.. fuzzy? smell? I dunno, it's hard to explain, I know it when I smell it though

And yeah, motor burn has a distinct copper burn smell. Once you know what that smell is, you can spot it REAL quick

heated pads for outdoors are around 40 bucks. you can use almost anything as a shelter because you really only need to partially block the wind. most outdoor cats won't go into a shelter unless it has two exits

I had some old plastic containers with lids that I cut holes into one year for an outdoor cat. stuck the heated pad in there and he loved it

some people use hay to build a shelter, some person on FB was offering up those mylar or whatever cat houses
