So Nintendo released a web browser for the Wii and for the time it wasn’t as fast as the other web browser at the time, but it still worked
But now it is the Wii web browser cannot access any modern website because it’s just too old and the security certificates have long since expired
So if you try and load up Home Assistant by default, it won’t work at all
So the way I got around this is I discovered a program called browservice it’s basically a headless web browser that runs on one machine and then streams the content to another older system

if my understanding is correct, the main communication channel in this case is DMs with the bot, but you can't start the DM channel since the bot is not your friend and the bot can't start talking to you because there's no event to say that the application has been authorized in an account. if so, how exactly does the user start interacting with the bot?

For example, I am in another server that had a bookmark feature with its bot. It would send a DM with the details of that post you bookmarked. But if you didn't have DMs open, it would tell you.

matter seems really complicated when you look it up. I had originally assumed those devices were suppose to support both out of the box but that dosen't seem to be the case from what I been reading. more so the zigbee part of it seems really complicated cause it's nowhere near plug and play yet
gotta like use beta firmware for the coordinators just to "test" it out.. not actually guarantee compatibility

I've got ESP32 toslink out and USB audio out working, I was planning on making ESP32 toslink in and USB audio in adapters at some point too.
Then it should work with things like the PS5 and home entertainment systems

I'm planning timestamp-based sync but I don't have it in yet. The latency is low enough to watch movies and tv by but I haven't directly measured it. I expect <20ms based on how the buffers are configured, though.
Excluding my cell phone I've had audio for everything at home going through it for a while now, including my 7.1 setup in my livingroom.
My plan for timestamp-based sync is to sync all the clients over NTP to the main router and put a timestamp on the packets for them to wait until for playback. I just haven't got to it yet.
NTP should be able to get it within a couple ms which I'm hoping is close enough to get rid of the stadium speaker delay effect.
Latency is why the unifi APs were not working for me, I had to have like a 4 second buffer for them to be generally stable and even then sometimes they'd drop out for 20s.

Konnected is running esphome and all the logic is with Alarmo. I’ve accidentally tripped it a bunch of times and it always worked.

The app or the interface? You can build a really nice dashboard using custom themes and kiosk mode. You can do the same with a tablet and mount it. Konnected sells 12 to 5v adapters you can power it with over existing alarm wire

I easily beat both of those but I did have to buy a rather expensive AP to do it on wifi.
I do zero encoding for pcm streams. Just volume adjustment and equalization
I run like 10ms of buffer on devices just to handle jitter
It's low enough I have all of my TV/movie audio going through it with no delay on video and I can't tell

CEC between my TV and my AVR was really buggy so getting that out of the chain was a decent win.
I made esp32/raspi usb transmitters that will act as usb sound cards on PCs/PS5s and transmit to the router yesterday, waiting on some toslink receivers so I can do the same with toslink
I want to make a normal line in esp32 to router adapter too, will probably use an esp32s3 with a usb line-in adapter over bothering with reading line in off an I2S sound card and having to roll my own PCBs for them
I've got these ESP32-A1S dev boards I actually have that working with but the audio quality of their analog captures is absolutely awful so I wasn't going to bother posting it

at one time, i had serial console on my server rigged up, by just running a null-modem from the linux box to a windows box
so i could run putty over vnc on windows, to access the linux box
one day, the windows box had a PSU failure, a very weird one, power/hdd LED was dimly on
it pulled the tx pin low, and spammed the BREAK signal to the linux box, which spammed /var/log/dmesg
that pushed the aging hdd over the edge, and resulted in a double kill 😛

My main HA server takes about 100w idle and the server I dump backups to about 60w.
idle wasn't a great word there, I meant it's normal workload which is processing some security cameras and acting as my router and some other stuff

I was able to get my UPS to whine when I was overclocking my GPU but the benefit to power consumption made the overclock make no sense to keep running. Was basically a 100% increase in power draw for a 12% increase in performance.

i was setting a wattage limit for a different reason, people claimed my PSU wasnt up to the task, and that was the cause of crashing
but then it came out, that the microcode over-volts the chip, and there is permanent damage

What I got confused about with that is the timeline.
AMD's security advisory only appears to have been released 2 days ago, but the microcode that remediates it came out in May.
As such, the vast majority of our servers at work already had the BIOS with that update.
