Yeah, isn't the dust cover on an AK really unstable for mounting sights? I thought that was the entire reason the AK's rear sight was in the middle of the weapon rather than mounted on the back

Mounting to the dust cover can mess up the sights zero, if it was designed for 3 round bursts or full auto, with the amount of vibration happening it'd lose zero. That's why Russian reflex sights are mounted on the side.

I love modeling as much if not more then animation, but the thing with me and modeling is I can't model anything, very complex shapes like modeling a M1911 or a AR-15 for me is confusing and difficult, I modeled the luty because it was just 2 boxes with a couple cylinders mixed in there. Some of my old art in this server from a month or two ago were mostly models I made.

I did a Maxim-9 a while back and I was very proud if it, I'd love to re-texture it but I lost the fbx for it.
