#Lady Tora product requirements
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
I already made my purchase to make it simple I'll be purchasing more later this year.
I read the previous thread but not in detail, and also answered your query in the forums
What's more important is making my costume exist before making it perfect.
Wait I had no idea that was you on the forums.
The 5888 requires programming, and is not any easier than using NeoPixels.
I am talking about https://forums.adafruit.com/viewtopic.php?t=221909
I've found NeoPixels pretty easy to use with MicroPython, and expect it to be a similar experience with CircuitPython
OH!
my impression was that you wanted to have simple solid color strips on the costume, without animations.
That's helpful, I bought soem of the basics recently but you know I'll save this information for the rest of the year because I want to fix up everything by the summer.
Yes
how many strips, how long, and what colors?
I don't need it to be animated I just needed for it to glow after turning a switch on and able to cut the strips to fit.
That was the impression I got from the discussion in #help-with-projects last night, before I got distracted with my kid
Custom lengths I can cut in the color blue.
And tiny lights for Athena's Tiara.
more precisely, what are the approximate lengths, and how many strips?
do you want to avoid doing any programming? Have you done any programming before?
I don't know yet, that's why I wanted strips I could cut and I can't program but I was just thinking of using an already made code I did code before but it's been 9 years.
and do you want it to look as continuous as possible or is broken up (see the pixels) ok?
A single colour can be done without code, providing the strip has the right colour LEDs on it
and what is your max budget for this order?
I just want it to turn on when I turn it on.
These are the mag-connectors I mentioned yesterday https://thepihut.com/products/diy-magnetic-connector-straight-angle-five-contact-pins|
IDK yet I'm planning to buy it little by little after Katsu but 50 per month could work.

i'm trying to be precise, as you requested
thank you As long as I can get what I need before May I should be okay to give my cosplay the voom it needs by anime nyc in august.
try deleting the '%7C' from the end, not sure why discord is adding that, i can't see it do delete it
I originally wanted it all done by Katsu next month but knowing my fabric and foam needs the lights can wait.
but they're in the UK and my credit card doesn't work overseas.
I know, but you can use that to find an alternative in the US (I'm in the UK so don't know what equivalent stores you have there)
that was going to be my second guess finding a dupe in the usa.
But still, thanks guys I already made a beginner friendly order for Athena's shield. What's important is making it exist right now.
That's just an reference for what I was talking about, so you can see what they look like and how they work. They're excellent for connections on panels that need to come apart and you can't get a more traditional connector in
Thank you.
for solid color not changing you just need the 3861, 368, and 875 for each strip. You don't need the other things now.
I would suggest not getting th 5888 and the associated cables for now.
Thanks Danh I'll save that information for later.
I just bought that
There's multiple ways of achieving what you want, I'm all for keeping projects as simple as you can
The 5888 and the RGB strip are unusual. If you want to do things that are more straightforward, start with a a regular NeoPixel strip and you can play with it. But get the 3861, 368, and 875 working so you are confident with it, and then you can move on to programmable strips
Oh yeah I just bought those to use for my sheild.
so you already placed the order, or that is your shopping cart?
Literally palced the order already for Athena's shield.
They're going to go into the medusa head.
try the simple on/off strips before getting started with that
That's the idea.
I would have suggestd you NOT get the 12v RGB strips, because then you need two power supplies
Fair point.
9-12v for the strip and 5v (or 3.7V lipo) for the microcontroller
Batteries that supply 12V can get heavy if it's in something you're wearing all day too
Fair.
This was my most recent order BTW.
anyway, try out what you get and then you can circle back for more help
This is strictly for Athena's sheild.
I'm going to make the medusa eyes and mouth glow.
TYSM Danh

The wires in my order and other tools I'm saving for later
Rule of thumb always get what can come in handy later.
Look at tools as an investment. Then things like wires and resistors as consumables, its helpful to have some on hand
