I have several Feathers from UnexpectedMaker S3, S2 Neo and and Adafruit Feather RP2040. None of which will boot so I can upload new code. Any idea why?

Hey folks - I've been working with Ed on this on my discord server - Here's the following details....
He has a win11 PC and a Mac running 10.15.7
none of my boards or the Adafruit Feather RP2040 present a USB mass storage device.... but all boards boot ok (mine go into the hello world code).
If he puts my boards into download mode, no serial device appears on either the Mac or Win11.
He's changed USB cables, and is direct connecting (not via a Hub).
The bizarre thing is... he has a CPE and that boots fine and shows a mass storage device.
So the SAMD21 is working, but the USB on the 2040 and ESP32-S2/S3 don't work.
Has anyone encountered anything like this before? I surely haven't.

Yeah, I didn't start the thread here, sorry. But it' also not specific to CP - It's more a Computer/HW issue so not sure CP channel is appropriate either?

No mass storage device appears at all in CP or UF2 mode, and no serial device appears when in download mode.
It screams USB cable, but the same cable works with his CPE 😦

Dumb questions - 1) do they actually have the appropriate USB drivers installed 2) is the USB cable charge only?

there are no drivers needed on the Mac. Windows should have at least the serial/JTAG/CDC driver installed by default.

The ESP32's at least - not sure what the RP2040 requires.
well, I know my Adafruit RP2040's boot fine here on my Mac anyway, and I never installed anything to support that.

He said he tried different cables - I asked him to also flip the end of the cabe - he said he tried all of that and didn't help.

No, none of the boards work on either machine - in any boot mode.
