70% isopropyl alcohol is amazing at dissolving adhesives. (I used it to dissolve a latex bathroom mat that melted & fused with the tile floor).

Hot glue tip -- putting it on a soft part that's prone to melting? Use compressed aerosolized air, such canned dusters. The chemical reaction gets cold super fast, and will cool the glue before it can melt your item.
