Iron Man is a superhero appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. The character was co-created by writer and editor Stan Lee, developed by scripter Larry Lieber, and designed by artists Don Heck and Jack Kirby. The character made his first appearance in Tales of Suspense #39 (cover dated March 1963), and received his own titl...

modern night
#

I agree, solid blue is a good affirmation/feedback

teal river

Yeah, CSDL was founded in 1973, so a decade later, but Draper was around long before that doing sciencey things

But the Iron Man Wiki says nothing about Draper

#

And that's the motivation for the bill--it's not necessarily correct

teal river
#

Will there be anything to add service quality? Like, Comcast here offers the same general speeds as Verizon here, but the actual service quality and customer service is very bad

modern night
#

It is correct if you're testing and not letting anyone else use the line and you're testing Right next to the ISP, not in a house a few miles away

wind spoke
#

Your fight for fiber is not technology neutral, so it would be killing the non-fiber competition. Is that good for competition?

gusty wedge
#

At least killing DSLs is very good

teal river
#

Killing non-fibre would be good for innovation

gusty wedge
#

No decent provider should be doing DSL or similar, not even in 🇨🇷

modern night

That sounds sooo wonderful

teal river

Fibre killing non-fibre would make it "innovate/switch or die" for non-fibre companies, but there's nothing keeping them from moving to fibre

teal river
#

Scott, that Ziply might actually be fibre, but very very old -- early fibre internet services started with DSL-like speeds

modern night
#

Does that graphic show the number of people they serve? Because some of those look amazing, but if they serve 2 clients, it's still something of a internet desert

wind spoke

I have in theory 400/20 over cable... that is the best I can get here. It's enough (even if I would like more upload). But most people do not need such bandwidth.

Audio is ok.

btw, if you are on linux, and you have a webcam, maybe there is a nice use for the rotary encoder. You can focus the camera by using video for linux. Something like
cmd = "v4l2-ctl -d " + dev + " -c focus_auto=" + str(focus_auto)

(I'm still looking for a portable way to do this)

Sony ZV-1, I have one.

#

Just a heads up, if you are doing long live streams on the ZV-1, the battery will run out. The USB charging is lower power than the camera uses. In my testing it can do 5-6 hours. Since I use this as my main Zoom meeting setup, that wasn't enough. Had to buy a "fake battery" and a mount adapter. Now I can stream indefinitely.

Description-en: optional static typing for Python
Add type annotations to your Python programs, and use mypy to type check them.
Mypy is essentially a Python linter on steroids, and it can catch many
programming errors by analyzing your program, without actually having to run
it. Mypy has a powerful type system with features such as type inference,
gradual typing, generics and union types.
 .
This package provides the command-line interface.
#

mypy it's a deb package as well.

#

I think you only need to call twine like you are doing on your repo, and use the same path that is specified for the stubs.

#

I tough the github actions for circuitpython where using a docker image with stuff preinstalled, but looking at it now, it seems it's using stock ubuntu.
That's a nice way to speedup the builds quite a bit.

Yes, I think you can comment a bunch of boards out to speed it up. Maybe something else will break...

There is a step missing called need-pypi . It might have been removed weeks/months ago when they stopped uploading the stubs.

It was last uploaded to PyPi may 26 2019

#

It also looks like it was Travis back then, not Github Actions

#

Because it's on a Branch it will never generate a valid version for PYPI

#

Or I've not figured a way before.

#

You might be able to work on foamygut/circuitpython/main. Maybe!

#

*foamyguy - sorry

#

It does something like git --describe --tags <I don't know what else> to figure out the version.

I know the problem but I don't know how to fix it for this.

It expects a VIRGIN git checkout matching what is on git

As soon as we add files git calls itself dirty

manic vessel

It will be a problem because there are newly created files (the stubs) which have not been uploaded to git.

@split gazelle One of my favorite vises is the dremel vise, with this fella for weird shaped materials:

https://www.amazon.com/Olympia-Tools-38-690-Gyrojaw-Vertical/dp/B01K48YG3Y

https://www.amazon.com/Dremel-2500-01-Rotary-Tool-Multi-Vise/dp/B000P4W3LU

split gazelle
waxen thistle

And it's also a standalone vise -- detaches from the clamp

And it can also hold a dremel

Only complaint is that it's mostly plastic, so it can't handle high heat or heavy use. But if you play nicely with it, it'll last a while.

There's such a strong financial interest with locking down documentation and only allowing "certified" repair. Some publicly traded companies announce during their stockholder meetings that their repair division may account for 40-60% of their revenue.

Think about that -- instead of making good, innovative products, some companies have a vested interest in making things as hard to fix as possible. And depending on your industry, you might be locked into using those products -- and their repair division.

Right to repair is so important.

Question for the show —- how difficult would it be to make a Trinkey that has a Apple lightning connector ? I know there is a MFi program … just curious if it’s feasible .. and I’d rather give the extra money to Adafruit than to Apple for a USB conversion cable

I'd like to know, or understand, why some are so resistant

ionic garnet

because they fear change. They think they deserve entitlement and feel equity is a threat to entitlement. It is indeed, as it should be.

If they fear change, why learn new programming languages? Or operating systems?

ionic garnet

I think self respect is a core issue at the heart of the "divide". In my observation the people who are most bothered by other people's life choices or race/religion/... are the ones with the least actual self respect. So we have to somehow help them too to really overcome some really damaging and challenging aspects of human society

# Convert to a "unicode" object

modern night
#

What is calling with open(filename, 'rb'...

#

with is safer for random errors as a general principle though isn't it?

manic vessel
#
if (conditionA):
    file = open(...)
else:
    file = get_it_another_way

with file:
    do the file manipulation code
it will auto-close at the end or on error
modern night
#

What about putting with indented stuff into a function call, and

    with open(filename, 'rb') as file:
        head_process_function(file)
else:
    #byteio
    head_process_function(filename)
manic vessel
#

it should still close or __deinit__ whatever is on the with line

I think when it says "type of bitmap" it means you pass in a bitmap class.

#

RLE => Run length encoding, a type of very simple compression

#

modern night
#

would pyb_file_obj_t be incompatible with a bytesio object?

clever summit
#

Oh. Live Discording.

modern night
#

What if ignoring c, we look at how the data is ordered for the open(filename, 'rb') vs the bytesio object?

#

I mean, I missed the beginning so I could be thinking of it wrong, but maybe we don't need to mess with the c layer at all and can just have a 'prep' function for bytesio that makes it look like an opened file for the rest of the code workflow?

#

Ah Ok, thanks for walking back through all of that

#

Oh yeah, translate will compress your error string

#

Woo! Something Happened!

#

Have to nip out for a while, hopefully back before the end, if not have a great weekend everyone.
