There are precisely zero (negative zero) bagel shops in my town.

I don't know of any bagel shops around here

I have to drive 20 minutes to get a corporate shop bagel.

Going to go ahead and guess that "Einstein Brothers" isn't a "Bagel shop" to most folks

One of my fave songs is called Cabinet Man by Lemon Demon. Story of someone who frankensteins themself into an arcade machine. If interested, here's a fan animatic with the song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NOiYDzLNkcU&t=4s

My final for Storyboarding this year, I'm proud with how it all turned out and hope it does the song justice!

Was the feather already paired ? If yes, it should appear in bluetooth devices ?

I know that some scanner doesn't show devices that are already paired.

oh, right. nRF52 can put -40db as tx power. But we still can read return value of setting tx power..

Oh, low tech solution to know if the thing in your hand is the one you're bonding to: broadcast a serial number, then have the serial number on the device

slender wharf

Can you show/measure rssi on mobile side, so you can then adjust tx power ?

teal river

Nothing in life is TRULY free :P

slender wharf
#

because if -80db is quite too low I think for phone to decode messages.

waxen thistle
#

One of the best things from adafruit -- https://learn.adafruit.com. This is a project database that's absolutely amazing, highly curated purpose-built projects that have a strong community following. And it's 100% free to access. No need to be a customer to access the schematics, code, project plans, etc.

grand tusk
#

418 I'm a teapot.

slender wharf

Then is Tx power is default (0) you should be able to measure rssi @ 1m then compute db reduction to reduce than distance...

Having the ability to access the code at any time, from any computer without a toolchain is a pretty powerful feature too, for wearables and stuff like that for example

I was awake and forgot this rendez-vous.

slender wharf

Thanks !

#

Where does the file come from ?

wind spoke
#

So you are connected in BLE... then how is your board powered? You plug the USB but it is already powered another way? What is your scenario?

grand tusk
#

Frequent backups are important.

wind spoke
#

You already have a "fight" between OS and CP that could write to the filesystem... and you decided it is one or the other. Now you add BLE?

woeful pond
#

disconnect the ble

autumn turret
#

This may be WAAAAYYYY to out there, but having a host "process" running on the device, which "presents" to the OS over USB, BLE, etc, but is just a proxy. That process is what handles reads & writes

wind spoke
#

USB data win... USB power is not doing anything.

woeful pond
#

would it be difficult when connected to serial, let the serial win and disconnect the ble

wind spoke
#

There is the Android way of avoiding concurrent access to flash from the phone and the connected host.

#

They implemented a microsoft "zune" protocol or something like that.

waxen thistle
#

No problem ๐Ÿ‘

wind spoke
#

BLE is the same as user code (more or less).

sudden slate
#

New verb.... Deep Divering ๐Ÿ™‚

#

You suddenly became super blurry

wind spoke
#

It is hard to tell that there must be user code to make the file system read-only (for the host) to let BLE work.

sudden slate
#

Now you're good again

teal river
#

YouTube did a dumb and set you to 480p for me earlier

slender wharf
#

Do you need to serve files throught usb ?

wind spoke
#

Cut write access from BLE. But can I continue to read?

woeful pond
#

that sounds clean

autumn turret
#

Would that "flush and disconnect" for BLE only be for file transfers?

teal river
#

I thought your mouse pointer on the YouTube chat was a bug and almost smacked my iPad DX

wind spoke
#

And I have destroyed all my power only microUSB cable... and now I need some!

autumn turret
#

USB DATA, not power

sterile forge
#

If you plug in a power only cable then the BLE should be the winner

woeful pond
#

yes otherwise it may be a fight.

slender wharf
#

Depends the OS.... Windows want to control file drive...

shell mason
#

there is power only usb cables too

teal river
autumn turret
#

So now a user would need to be sure to use power-only USB? It's already a struggle for support from the sounds of it

sudden slate
waxen thistle
autumn turret
#

That makes it maybe harder for folks who have just a phone/tablet to work from

wind spoke
#

Ok if my usercode set the flash to read-only (for the potential host) and I plug USB, will it stop write from BLE?

waxen thistle
#

Just be careful when flipping the switch -- some devices don't play nicely having their data line evaporate into the aether.

slender wharf
#

Yes, but the feather is active...

shell mason
#

its safer to charge your device on like in public charging place

slender wharf
#

so it write on its own on the flash memory..

autumn turret
#

I'm also thinking of people who might power their CP device from their tablet, but work over BLE for any number of reasons

sudden slate
#

I don't remember if it was a Feather or a Thing Plus

slender wharf
#

that's why Windows can't be owner/manager of mass storage...

woeful pond
#

its almost like when you have a laptop with wifi and ethernet, once ethernet is connected the wifi is disabled otherwise it caused problems.

slender wharf
#

and there an interface (webdav/file server).

sudden slate
#

Youtube is messing up today!

slender wharf
#

so one solution is usb network + webdav...

waxen thistle
wind spoke
#

And that is why Android is doing that extra protocol.

Having the URL stuck in history on a public computer would slightly suck....

HSTS is the part that if you go http, it redirects to https.

Happy to help.

#

The "B" grade is mostly because you have tls 1.0 and 1.1 which are considered as they should be deprectaed.
On the mozilla page if you select intermediate, the example code will enable 1.2 and 1.3. If you select modern, only 1.3.

#

Yes, the ssl labs page is kinda design to check and recheck, while the config is going on.

#

Yeah, there is way to do something similar to ssl labs, but with nmap. But the extra info is kinda nice.

clever summit
#

Yes, do protocols as well

gusty wedge
#

Yes, because ciphers like 1.1 can choose which protocols to use.

(things like 1.3 only have protocols considered as secure, not in "modern" is not needed)

Desk of Ladyada - Lots of Keeb Samples & Resin Keycap Fun! https://youtu.be/edNWMCKKASA

This weekend we got a whole bunch of keyboard enclosure samples, a 60% keyboard PCB we're checking out for inspiration, and a silicone mold for making keycaps. We tried making some and learned a bit. They GH60 was also interesting, let's check out some design decisions!

Vacuum pump to suck the bubbles out. I did A LOT of resin casting as a metallurgist

Don't resins usually have the wavelength they cure at listed? Should make it easier to find the right light!

Aquarium pump is good enough

# tame dew Q: do we have TFT or OLED small and square enough to be dynamic key caps?

The Optimus Maximus keyboard, previously just "Optimus keyboard", is a keyboard developed by the Art. Lebedev Studio, a Russian design studio headed by Artemy Lebedev. Each of its keys is a display which can dynamically change to adapt to the keyboard layout in use or to show the function of the key. It was launched initially in 2007 and is no l...

Would it be possible to create a library to make this LED drivers chip compatible with the neopixel libraries?

I have a cheap MX-clone keyboard with LEDs that are IN the keyswitch casing

N-key rollover is also nice if you type really fast like I do XD

Absolutely @rich wing. It's a really well done product with the software. You can also DIY your own with Adafruit products! I think the project is called the "TouchDeck"
