#question I'm trying out multiple StemmaQT sensors at once, which works on a QT PY, within reason. Just got a TMP117, and seem to be running out of memory with it and ONE other sensor. Will removing all the comments from the TMP117 library help with my memory issues? Is "compiling" (compressing) the modified tmp117.py file an easy process?

@open girder Always inspired and inspiring.
thanks folks
Yes, compiling/compressing is very easy.
cd circuitpython/mpy-cross
make
./mpy-cross tmp117.py```
@autumn turret or maybe not
Not sure it will actually help though.
It probably removes the comments automatically
Depends also if you are running out of memory or disk space. I don't believe it saves on RAM even as a mpy. The #help-with-circuitpython channel would be able to give you an answer for sure. Sorry can't recall for sure at the moment
Perhaps @open girder can confirm if that would be the case or not
Hi all!
Would guess RAM, the 32KB...TMP117 library is 21KB. I added the flash chip to my QT PY, so plenty of room.
I needed this header thing 4 weeks ago when I ordered a bunch of ones too short! Luckily exactly half so I could double them
I ran into a similar issue with another sensor. the QTPY can have lots of storage but the SAMD21 doesn't have a lot of RAM
i missed the start of why was moved
Short answer: BLM. So a good reason
its thursday so not so many people chatting
just got a package today! get to figure out how i2c works later haha
when comes BLM I feel like idont matter at all
move to thurs to give our team time with all that was going on, all good
it' back to weds next week
Colin's videos are so simple but you learn alot. Just a minimal style. Awesome!
i LOVE colins lab notes
I love my panavisa, it's so great if anyone is ever wondering about it
Love you guys at Adafruit!
I second that! Such a helpful tool!
I realized that too late, but I'm sure I'll find some other use for them...was glad to pick up some RP2040 QTPY and Feather boards recently too, for the additional breathing room.
Interesting, I may poke at that.
Ooh, does that mean you could post a tester video on each product repo? People seem to love those.
@spiral bough yep!
Question: which Discord channel would I use to discuss a issue in the Mag-Tag Goggle calender program . It crashes when there is an all day event scheduled. I understand what is causing the crash but need help in fixing it.
#help-with-circuitpython will give you help in fixing it
Thanks. So frustrating and I am weak at Jason code
If you want feel free to tag me when you ask about it, though I'm not an expert either I can look at it
does anyone have a link to the page the livestream is on? "Learn" or something?
nevermind just found it in the description
learn.adafruit.com would be my guess.
yep! thanks :)
Did I miss the S&T recap?

Just like a pizza oven.
poor SD card
the silence is eerie
That person is way better at soldering quickly than I am...
oh no! the SD card!!!
they weren't giving any cards out in Canada as far as I know, I just got my first shot yesterday
OMG! I was thinking of one of those. Right now, my wife and my cards are sitting on two Bundled-up-Bernie's lap.
i am worried for other reason than get first dose of vaccine
If you are a veteran contact your local VA, they are helping administer shots to vets!
even in less then ideal weather the solar will hold up! I've had a panel and battery outside for almost a year now, through less the ideal weather
Mark: what kind of weather?
A central Canadian prairie winter, we hit -30 and below several times this winter, to over +30C in the summer. Snow, rain...
@nova totem for snow the indirect light is good as snow is reflective if you have 2 side solar panel
the biggest problem i had was the low sun angle, and my neighbors trees getting in the way
hinge system is cool for sure or like have side monitor

Question for the show... can the DVI do “hello word” in white text over a say black screen? And thoughts on how quickly it can update words ? Any plans for example code of that ?9
@open girder Question: for a QFN part would you recommend making the pads a little larger then the chip while making prototypes, especially as a beginner to be able to see if it reflowed correctly?
where are you hosting the neotrinkey animations? I want to display them on an lcd
Did I miss the S&T segment 😆
trinkey animations with real trinkey
So follow up, upgraded tool, just one of the hot air stations you sell would work well? All I have is a toaster oven I coverted at the moment
do you have any guides on how to get an i2c display to work? i just received your 14-segment display with i2c backpack and have no clue where to start.
NeoTrinkey NFT something something.
@slow spire there is a idea and have NFT Trinkey too
https://www.adafruit.com/product/1869 is good, I have it
Are Circuitpython boards outselling Arduino based boards?
you know as crypto wallet can get hardware too so yeah that could be a idea
Have you had any difficulties sourcing parts on board restocking?
Its sooo hard to finish projects! Just gotta push. Seeing Ladyada demo my projects was worth it all 😃
It seems to be hard to find 3.3V ldo anymore
NeoTrinkey NFT NFC yada yada. (I really shouldn't be encouraging this modern tulip mania.)
If time and resources weren't limited, what electronics would you like to make for Adafruit that you aren't right now?
DHL shipping for parts from China is slow. Clearing customs is also slow. Just the way things are right now.
Good call on “not forever Trinkeys” and link to a physical good.
“And we could team up with Particle” -- I just LOLLED
have you guys played with this power monitor chip yet? it looks pretty interesting, sparkfun made a board for it already:

@desert orbit Adafruit also stocks a $10 INA219 breakout https://www.adafruit.com/product/904
@slow spire I love that breakout and I've got a few of em on the bench 😄 But the ACS37800 has a lot going on that makes it interesting, would love to see it show up in Adafruit land since the red boards clash with my aesthetic 😉
Well, it is a SparkX board, which is black. 🙂
And it should be compatible with STEMMA.
lol, duh. 😂 been a long day.
Oh wow, @desert orbit ; I see now that it is non-contact, working through the wire insulation using the Hall effect.
Looks like it's good for higher voltage applications (but not low current ones) than the INA219 breakout.
I'm still poring over the datasheet. Definitely not good for low current, but having voltage + current in the same setup is pretty nice, at least
Looks like the INA219 also does voltage + current, as in this Arduino example:
https://learn.adafruit.com/adafruit-ina219-current-sensor-breakout/arduino-code
Oh snap. 😄 I've only used it for current so far, haven't really spent quality time with it yet (but its on deck for tinkering once I'm done with a few more repairs)
@desert orbit Here's @haughty quiver 's recent demo of it, in CircuitPython: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ycKlyn3_RNo

Deep Dive w/Scott for April 23rd, 2021 Hi all, this doc is try and track topics and timecodes for my deep dive stream. These notes will end up in the YouTube video’s description. Any help keeping them groomed as I stream is welcome. Housekeeping I’m sponsored by Adafruit to work on CircuitPyth...
I'm on time for once !
Hey all y’all cool people
It's not 2am ...
I, for once, didn't schedule myself a late friday call at work so got here on time
Hello
when is when I usually watch
I am also almost on time.
I had zero reaction, but my wife had a fever of 101 for an evening after the 2nd shot 💉
I had virtually none from the AZ shot but most people I know how chills/soreness for 12-24 hours
Hi Scott. Hope you're doing well.
Deep Tangents ... 🙂

I need to add git chicken to my gitconfig
yay, that magic 'Power it off and on' worked.
No chickens were damaged during this
yup
(2) How will the learn guide new zip thing behave?
circup 7.x support is not released I believe ?
Circup knows to use the bundle that matches your CP version
Circup is smart.
So I could take the zip from the learn guide... then circup the thing!
The original dev added that logic (ntoll)
do you have plans to support the Arduino Portenta?
Hello Hello
Maybe waiting this long might not have been the best idea 🙂
i was looking at the 1.11 PR and yeah the scope is insane
stage 1, Don't Panic.
Are each of the 1.1x going to be tested, or we only care about the last one?
Is there anything particular you're looking for in the merge reviews? I did look through the 1.11 PR, and built it for the RP2040. Not sure what else I can do?
It's dual core M7/M4
The changelog will be crazy...
Maybe we can get community to run automation on different boards ...
if I build with the current main is 1.10 merged there?
And provide some tests. ...
An issue we find in 1.12 could be fixed in 1.14.
Does the toolchain allow for a code builder front end ?
1.10 was merged yesterday
thnks
merging code like this is so thankless, so thank you! (and good luck staying sane)
Just try every project from the learn system. 🙂
How often is this done?
yes, I'm trying to wrap my head around the scale and approach of this and I feel like that'd be insightful for me
Oh Yes ... I would love to hear your input
Is there a difference in merging the change from MP into CP... and redoing the change from CP into the last MP? (does that make sense)
So we will have a lot of new string to weblate...
Is it obvious that this is very interesting?
Did I hear Weblate?
Is MP in Australian English? Is it different from EN/UK and EN/USA?
Hi @ancient grotto 😎
Hello @clever summit how is it going?
Well....
I thought CircuitPython already supported underscores in numeric literals. On 6.2.0 on QT Py, I can do a = 1_000_000; print(a) and it's a number
gotcha
So will testing with .py possibly give different result from testing with .mpy ???
Good afternoon deep divers
So the weblate gang is complete. Are we at 100%?
So what do we test (first)???
We rock!

I believe the British version is complete and at your service!
How much different is the British version?
Well, the main difference is the hard crash message
I think it's a toUch better spelled 😉
lot more "u"s for some reason
Will someone translate the British version back into US version ???
It might get thrown out....
What's "littlefs"?
It is better initialised and optimised
I am non native, so I usually don't know if I read US or UK English. Same when I speak or write. Sometime I know about differences, but hard to tell what version is US or UK.
UK/US english are they are no the same?
colour vs color
the differences are as thin as a sheet of aluminium
OMG
We only care about the written difference... but there are spoken differences. Are they usually the same???
potato potato ?
The approach is just to release a new board every month ....
I need an AI that will identify if it is EN/US, EN/UK or a mix...
There are some, like "aluminum" vs. "aluminium" in pronounciation
EXACRLY the detail I was hping for
aloomeenoom makes me think of "mahna mahna"
pitypitypi
What on chip peripherals are used for a Neo pixel ? One channel of a timer ?
I've used the STP protocol, but that was on my car 🥁
For reason I totally do not remember, I started to download the UK version and install that one. Do we have language stats between the two?
I'm sorry, "walrus" operator?
:= looks like a walrus teeth 🙂
I've never heard that, and I learned in Pascal where THAT was the assignment operator
:= added between 3.7 and 3.8 in cpython I think
So is there a difference between foo = bar and foo := bar?
it's used to do the horror that is if a := something()
I ran into := not being supported in google colab (which used python 3.7 ) - refactored code to work around it
( so I was using it )
Was there a time where people were saying that using foo and bar make IT less accessible and it is not good for STEM and being open? Is that still the opinion?
Good afternoon all you wonderful folks!
Greetings, you certainly wonderful individual!
With threading an interrupts couldn't we just write them in a c code block to use that inside circuit python?
Kinda defeats the point I would agree, just a thought I had since those are two common requests.
LOVE this input
I'd like to hear what you 'outside' project is?
Sounds like an agenda - fix the CI, then while that works and builds, talk about "outside" project?
give yourself a break ...
Oh yeah, LOVE RescueTime
YIKES !
@ornate coyote lol
@left pier We've all done it - right? or just me?
100%
Those who haven't done it, are lying about not having done it!
Or spend 4 hours trying to fix something... go to bed. Fix it in 3 minutes in the morning.
Love the "worktree" feature of Git for some large changeset diffs
or manual "bisect"
You mean go to bed at 3am ?
I'm guilty of that a lot
Why not git blame to get when that line was added?
...which you ultimately did. Don't mind me
like you preach - git status is your friend!
Are you using mind control
Am I? Or.... am I? 😉
can you extract what the c preprocessor is actually generating
e.g. gcc -E - maybe the macro is doing something weird
@dcd inconceivable
( you solved it in your head 🙂 )
cherry picked? ohh...
Are you getting the diff between MP's v1.x and v1.(x+1), and then cherry-picking that?
Ah, ok. That's what I missed. Thanks for clarifying
So how are you bringing in the per-release changes from MP?
CP cherry-picked
Cool, thanks for the clarification
Scott makes WA better so I don't have to ...
Or he tricks me into helping (by it being a great idea)
Mind manipulation!
Put law in git to better track legislation. And new law are PR...
Code is Law (or was it the opposite).
Mind blown. So obvious.
Having lived in Washington state ... far east of Seattle ... connectivity is sparse
Gives "git blame" a whole new meaning!
I am an "expert" in serving elected representative that vote law and make amendment... but not in US.
Pull request, with "allow maintainer edits"
GovOps ?
Just tell me we don't have to hand enter 50 states legal code ...
(we did that for ElectionCal)
But then you have git conflict when multiple amendment proposal want to change the same portion. And there are rules to know what amendment will be voted first. One there is one amendment that is voted, it can void the other tentative to change that same piece.
Probably not. I'm sure that some states have laws against reproducing laws and codes
law (and contracts) are not copyrightable
Oh, I know. Doesn't prevent them from trying!
lol
Most unique deep dive ever.
law might not be copyrightable, but they trick by saying you have to respect that standard that is non free and copyrighted.
No one is supposed to ignore the law, but it is made difficult to access.
Scott for Legislature!
Warning, I am non US, so our rules might be different... don't take what I say as valid.
It is just the kind of "problem" you encounter in that field.
There are XML standards for laws, at least we have.
I did some terrible things with awk to manipulate my grad school data, files, graphs and thesis/dissertation.
We do even have Free Software to deal with amendment.
So you've heard of/dealt with OASIS?
I think we invented our own standard...
Oasis never was going to be bigger than the Beatles ...
I work in the space that deals with LegalXML and ECF
http://docs.oasis-open.org/legalxml-courtfiling/specs/ecf/v4.01/ecf-v4.01-spec/ecf-v4.01-spec.html
Gotta love open data! 💜
"wa-law", I love that it spelled like people pronounce "voila"
MunicodeNEXT, the industry's leading search application with over 3,300 codes and growing!
One thing to remember is that most elected representative are not heavy git user (there are some exception). And git is challenging, for many people in IT.
They don't write the bills they sponsor... their staff does that
Amendment are verified by legal expert to make sense before being voted.
I'm just a bill ... On capital hill ...
There is bill and there is amendment.
Just remember that you are only touching at the "text" version, but there is also the semantic, the meaning and how pieces of the same law interact, and how various law interact, ...
The text change are usually attach with the "recital", that is the explanation. When a juge need to understand the law, he can look at the documentation of why that piece was put there.
Do not forget about dead code...
You have piece of law that are not accessible, not used anymore.
So now, you need to figure out what was the law applicable at that particular time. 🙂
Very cool @rapid hornet !
I’ve used subversion a long time ago for similar documents version control. Git is so much better suited.
This is great Scott.
It's an interesting one from a visualisation/art-ish sort of thing. This is pretty cool!
Just for fun... where I work, the law is translated into 24(?) languages. So it need to make sense in every languages. And amendment can be deposit in any of those languages.
When you're ready to share more widely let us know
I might need to move to WA state to vote for Scott for Legislator
would be nice to trace it back to who contributed funding to the sponsors!
Machine transmogrification
Are they already using AI for law making?
When Scott runs for office all those snake puppet photos are going to need to be explained.
Real “git blame”
I've wanted to see something like this for a while, this is fantastic! Bills and terms of service agreements are things I wish I could track history of it better
You are not the first...
Isn't someone tracking TOS
You’d need to track abstain and other non binary states.
If state were reusing code in law making (and making it accessible/public), then we could reuse code in observing the activity of our elected representative...
That would be money saving for each state.
Thanks Scott for another excellent Deep Dive 🙂
Random walk find of the day: https://github.com/rust-embedded/awesome-embedded-rust#adafruit
Thanks Scott for all your efforts on CP and Voila WA-Law
Thanks Scott
Thanks for the fantastic deep dive!
See ya, Thanks
Don't forget the thumb up.
Thanks Scott!
The MP merge walkthrough was also awesome!
thanks all!
Thanks Scott. Your time and sharing of expertise are much appreciated
So time for live stream again! Wohoo!
I will be streaming some PR testing and other fun stuff this morning. Hang out with me here in the chat, and on Twitch: https://www.twitch.tv/foamyguy_twitch or Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mjz0vMw-Jl8
It's going fine. Todays project is a network KVM using Pi-KVM, needed to get remote access to my old server. It's VGA only, and my new monitors does not support VGA. 🙂
Luckily I had all needed hardware already, so the project was done after 30 minutes.
@smoky island Good luck with the stream. I have to go and do mother-in-law and grandmother-in-law duty. Next week, maybe.
hi internet 👋
In the learn guide the sample TLC59711 has two pins labeled R0.
R0 G0 B0/R0 G1 B1
I posted some feedback on the learn guide.
Items in /lib seem to be aligned.
use image triangles then !
oh yeah you get them from the big json
I think it uses the file in the release from github:
https://github.com/adafruit/CircuitPython_Community_Bundle/releases/download/20210424/circuitpython-community-bundle-20210424.json
ah wait that's community
hmmmmm
you get the pypi names, which you can search in the same json since each entry has a pypi_name entry
it has a package property which I believe says if it's a mpy/package folder
I haven't looked into it, I'm not sure where the code for the "bundler fly" is, but I always keep an eye on circup, and it's gonna switch to using that file
I have used Imagemagick in php, I can't help you with PIL 😉
oh I didn't see dependencies doesn't use the pypi name
Belated but hearty greetings everyone
I'm struggling with beting/staying awake, but that's the worse of my complaints, so all in all, quite good. How are you doing FoamyGuy?

Hahaha! @smoky island just activated my echo with the Hugo greeting. She thanks you and sends her regards!
Oh, the Nest mini. Not echo.
maybe it's called "Hugo" 😛
That's awesome! It's really cool project, and that's a really REALLY good use case for it!
The "Alexa" wake word can be changed, and "Computer" is one of them
So you can actually say "Computer, red alert!"
or "Computer. Earl Grey, hot."
Hey (hu)Go(ogle) perhaps.
How are you doing @upper sandal and @clever summit?
Happens alot so I wasn't surprised.
I'm fine. Todays project went almost too easy.
"Convoluted and it works" or is it "Convoluted yet it works"?
Hooked up my server and it almost worked. Had to reboot the server to get the stupid server graphics to actually output something.
Pretty cool
Yeah, that was kinda cool. I remoted in to the pi in a browser using software running on itself, so it actually sent HID commands out the OTG port in to itself.
lol
Needed to test without involving the server as I had to add VGA to HDMI adapters and stuff.
So you can feed a command to the pi, which will feed itself a command to feed itself a command?
Exactly!
And then you have a singularity on your hands
I was afraid I was creating a black hole somehow.
Compact is good, but want to make sure it's still legible for people with vision issues, and specially screen readers
Screen readers don't do images?
Yep.
I was in HTML thinking for some reason
You could make a function that returns a tuple, like "Given line size of x, icon size is y, what are all the sizes (padding, margin, etc)"
During the refactor anyway 😉
Sounds like a plan
Hi level plan took 20 seconds to go over? SHouldn't take more than 20 minutes to complete! 🙂
Oh wait, that's how management thinks/calculates
Very cool though, and awesome progress. Looking forward to how it turns out!
When/if you're on twitch, could you post to the Discord anyway?
Twitch doesn't notify me about anyone I follow going live
Nice overlay!
The issue is, with Twitch, that if you don't follow the notifications, it starts to not notify ytou
by browser notification, even emails
I never get any notifications.
you can disable smart notifications or whatever it's called
I haven't though. I want to know when some folks go live!!!
I'll cehck if maybe it checked itself again
Like YouTube automatically unsetting notifications
twitch does send emails saying "eh you haven't watched this guy for a while I'm unclicking the bell ok ?" but it hasn't done that to me in a while
I have everything activated. Still no notifications. Ever.
Same
but regardless of settings, sometimes twitch is random 🤷
that's weird, I would look that up
Thanks! CU l8R!
There's a team out there who does dev, very friendly and helpful (imagine Adafruit spirit of software), the Live Coders
https://www.twitch.tv/team/livecoders
see ya 👋
Thanks for hanging out folks. Hope everyone has an awesome weekend!
Ah crud. Found out part of why I wasn't getting notifications from Twitch....
if you have the twitch app on any mobile devices be careful as well. I ran into a thing where after I installed it on my phone it started sending my notifications there instead of the PC even though I didn't change any settings
YEah, that's the "Smart notification" that @upper sandal mentioned
It'll notify you where it best thinks you are
I am hoping back on twitch for a little bit tonight and continuing work on the requirement screenshoter: https://www.twitch.tv/foamyguy_twitch
I will be continuing work on this on twitch starting up now, if folks are interested in following along.
Gotta garden a bit today but I'll have the stream up lurking 🙂
Desk of Ladyada - These Digital Eyes SEE ALL! https://youtu.be/Zfr6PCqHuUQ
We had a few PR's go into CircuitPython this week to add digital camera support to platforms with parallel-capture support. We started with SAMD51 and also added RP2040 thanks to some clever PIO work. PaintYourDragon and Jepler teamed up to one-two-punch Arduino and CircuitPy support at once, starting with with classic OV7670 cameras and then mo...
❤️ loving and helping all people
🙂 I've been learning about relays - latching & non-latching for the OSPoC. 🙂
@open girder I'm getting much much closer to bringing the OSPoC to production. Is it possible to pick u guys's brains about bringing this completely open source kit to market? Either on here or via email?
@ivory kiln yah, ask here in a few
after the great search part
(what does the OSPoC stand for again?)
OSPoC = Open Source Power Chair. Only I'm starting with a retro kit to get old power chairs functioning again. Basically strip the chair down to frame - seat - & motors. Putting the kit on & the kit will be completely open source.
K. I was talking with a lawyer that volunteers with Score, & he kept talking about & pressing to get my thing patented & what I'm doing is intentionally easily duplicatable. So, to me what's the point of patenting it? Then I wonder if he just isn't really that practiced with true "open source" product production.
Sry, it takes me a bit to word & spell stuff right.
Maybe they were planning on the patent filing process, or patent protection?
Ya patent production is great, but nothing of mine is going to be proprietary at all.
Are Adafruit t-shirts like Ladyada is wearing available?
My not-so-great searching isn't working
Ya exactly - the whole idea behind my doing & making this is to help get people mobile. To me - it's the idea of helping people, if others want to produce & still keep the consumer costs really low - then all the more power to them.
Thanks for the answer, great reasoning. Thank you
O' I was going to ask, can I put stuff like that logo & the show & tell logo on shirts?
I make shirts. 🙂
Lol, in my living room.
No... I completely missed it.

Hi folks! we'll be on Hackster https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vE9UHARI0OQ for a chat with Alex. taking questions on projects here or on the youtube chat in 15 mins
Noé and Pedro Ruiz have created countless tutorials for Adafruit. Their recent companion bot, Terrako, caught our eye – and once we started looking, we found cosplay pieces, LED art, MIDI controllers, and more! We sit down with the brothers to learn more about their creations.

Excellent stream @hard hollow and @rocky reef 🙂
thanks for haning out folks!
thanks folks!
And hats off to Liz, whose projects were featured throughout the show 🙂
Good afternoon all you deal seekers!
Aloha!
Second Adafruit stream in total, picked up the end of the Desk of LadyAda
disco party music on YT!
Good Evening.
JP in the house, Hello all!!! Trinky, YES! ordered!
I added one of these to my order a week or two ago. One of my boys seems to have "accidentally" taken it and hooked it up to his computer.
my bank account is going to be sad at me
especially since I also just ordered some PCB fabbing
The constant flashing red is the EVERYTHING IS FINE warning
just be concerned if it stops flashing
Been waiting for these to get back in stock! so cool!
The HID stuff is going to be especially useful for me with the fun form factor
the trinkey is so cool and using it like that what john showed make it more cooler
Could you have it detect when you're pressing both of them? or can it only do one at a time?
What a great deal on those! Just bought 10 as AT Cap Touch keyboard inputs (with led mode indicator)
Jack-o-lantern candle substitute. Not too soon to start thinking about the holiday season.
@inner spade Great idea!!!
thank you @empty swallow that was my question as well about pressing both.
Of course!
I've never played around with CircuitPython or MicroPython or anything like that, only CPython, I can't wait to receive them and figure out how!
not sure how long a trinkey will last if actually put on your keys 🙂
Thanks JP!
It was great to join you!
Thanks!
Thanks JP!
TY
finally i shall go to sleep
thanks for the extra dancing, JP!

Hey @trim mountain! Good to see you
super cool @trim mountain
Yeah, it's so useful even beyond the IR stuff... just having the analog input, PWM stuff is great on a Pi
such a cool idea to combine the QtPy on that board

lolol
You put cherry in the lemon? ew! haha
Apparently, there was no coconut in which there was to put the lime :/
Hmmm wonder if you could jack that into a Lutron light system?
That needs to send Media Control keys, right @haughty quiver?
Yes, @pearl shoal it sends consumer control volume up or down to trigger shutter in iOS camera app.
Does anyone know when the AdaBox will ship? It seems like the time was extended.
Great project idea with the Trinkey JP
I'm doing it in Arduino because composite USB device confuses iOS right now, but that should change in CircuitPython 7
thanks @autumn turret
Yes, I think @paper peak's made some recent progress on that (We're also waiting that on the XBox Adaptive Controller)
yes the tests .. scott is grumbling (I grumble too), but the tests prevent us releasing bugs in these low-level things to users.
ooh we get the walrus operator?
i am the walrus
Thank you @rapid hornet! I'm very excited by the possibilities the MicroPython merge will bring with the dynamically-loaded native code MPY modules

@split gazelle nice job on the fuzz -- the hardest thing in the world for me is to translate pedal circuit stripboard layouts to breadboard. For some reason it breaks my brain.

It's so important to talk about this - if people don't see that vaccination will actually allow them to get back to normal (or close) they won't prioritize it. I know that means they're self-centered, but that's reality.

@haughty quiver's pick this week is a great A.T. tool (I bought 10 of 'em at 1/2 off 🙂 ). A Cap Touch switch in AT is insane ($225 https://www.ablenetinc.com/little-candy-corn-switch/) and then you need a Switch Interface to make it act as a Keyboard/Mouse ($99 - https://www.ablenetinc.com/hitch-2/ ) ... OR you can buy a $6 NeoTrinkey and some copper tape 🙂
@empty swallow yay! https://blog.adafruit.com/2021/04/11/the-story-of-xenia-linuxs-forgotten-mascot/
Yea! That's where I got my name from
That's a really helpful parsec, and it won't take 3.26 years to get it all.
JP finished the CPP run in less than 12 parsecs!
@haughty quiver I like that wah wah pedal from the outro. 🙂

Found this to save 50% of the 02 for the same effect on the patient. And it is easy to build those mask by maker in DIY mode: https://twitter.com/DavidGlaude/status/1387473764288499716?s=20

oop, have to go, it's my turn
the algae generators what use in spacestation is interesting too
Yeah, but look at all the great stuff they do with it!
Pft. "Cheers"...
Regarding oxygen generators for coronavirus patients:
In 7th grade science they teach electrolysis. Electricity + water -> Hydrogen + Oxygen.
Why can't we do that even if it isn't power efficient. This can be done anywhere in the world with no special equipment.
What makes something a medical grade or safe oxygen concentrator? I know you need to have a safe bubbler for dealing with the Hydrogen (often discussed in DIY hydrogen torch cutting tools).
There a bit of problem with the frequency, but certainly not something to rant in public like crazy. The "problem" the sat is creating, is so small and ridiculous.
Which frequency was it stepping on? Or is there a link to the background on it?
We have to remember something - Twitter (and other short text platforms) suck. They provide no context, and people don't think about how their posts will impact the folks they mention. After the Michael Phillips gun project, I've just learned to let it go.
That's like blaming Amazon for selling/shipping batteries to someone who is using them for their pirate radio station
I agree @pearl shoal @autumn turret
How about AstroTrolls?
That was the quickest I've had
I've read a bit of talk in the TinyGS chat. It's that it's transmitting a packet from a freq outside the country that it's flying over. And it only sends packets every now and then, and it's not making anything else not-work, so I think it's way too much talk (from the libre space guy) for such a tiny "problem".
I agree @gusty wedge
i was not successful explaining we did not "support" it over email
yes, crimping! so important
so i am tryin this 🙂
So I'm back! Roommate and I are at a cafe, but I'm watching the stream while waiting and such
thank you @open girder. it's so frustrating
Anyone noticing audio desync? [or is it just me?]
i have
Yeah that's technically a "problem" but I agree so small. Given how small and weak most of those satellite signals are
Maybe they need a bit more diversity to be chill...
there was small buffer and after it I notice audio desync
I noticed it on youtube
me on twitch
Yeah, youtube's out of sync
yes it is
audio must be going through a satellite or something
might be the cam thing
An AstroTroll got it
Must be going through that space radio thermometer dealie
It must be the italian sat adding some lag 🙂
Sync is fine, it's just that Limor and Phil are ventriloquists of the highest order
the A/V desync seemed to happen after PhilB's video
Such lovely relays.
I saw it before that video
@haughty quiver breaking down the 5th wall instead of the 4th wall
a lot of folks tell me they do not want their projects on twitter, or sometimes hackaday, because of the comments/snarks, or they wil just stop publishing anything - so in 2021 i am going to work on talking to leaders of groups (open source ones for sure) about all of us fixing that
what they're doing is 10x harder than Chevy Chase's microphone is going out gag from Spy's Like Us.
"I like Swiss pins and I cannot lie, you other headers can't deny"
Machine pins even make less noise for audio pedals on breadboards.
do not see any reasons the audio would be synced weird, could be network issues
I salvaged a clear cased relay out of a circuit, looks neat
I think restream's been having some performance issues lately. We're still here watching though!
I'm thinking this is inside Wirecast - it's on every platform... or maybe Restream is flaking?
Yeah, I'm good with it
Now I need to get some swiss pins
Ruiz bros had wirecast issues lately
swiss pins might be good to secure the LCD on the backpack I'm gonna have fabbed
Some audio lag now and then is good for the soul.
Find maker jobs in 3D and CAD, Art, Design, Education, Embedded Development, Engineering, Fabrication, Marketing and Communications, and Web Development
Question for Later - What protocol does wippersnapper use? I am certain it's not Firmata 🙂
True @gusty wedge - reminds us that all this is happening hundreds or even thousands of kilometers away, going through the air, pieces of glass and copper
Since I want to make it all modular, so I can reuse and replace bits
It's good for your brain to challenge itself occasionally by resolving audio/video sync issues. After several days of exposure your mind comes to peace with it and you cannot perceive the lag at all.
Lars, please let JP have the keyboard back, kthx! 😄
heh
can you run a shell on a circuit python board?
I'm good with lag - I cannot handle hearing my own echo
had to deal with network issues sometimes
Hi guys! Just joined in, hope you're doing well
There's a CircuitPython REPL
So not quite a shell, but you can run CP commands
god that's been such an issue for me, luckily I usually have the output be basically lagless when I listen to it
Heya @proven crow! Nice seeing you!
haha, I think you can contact them on Reddit
Can't wait to get my keyswitches and sockets so I can add them to everything
.Late to the party, hello to all!!
I'm good with lag - I cannot handle hearing my own echo
great job @clear matrix !
it could be restream.io the service we use to get the videos to all the places
if it's not sync'ed in all places
just a guess
it's very much out of sync for me but i am dealing
LOL drat
Thanks!
it's not getting worse
@pearl shoal said earlier that its desync in all platforms
yah, i think there is an issue at restream.io
Who disliked 😦

Order today, ships today. SHUTTLE BOARD BME688 – BME688 series Gas, Humidity, Pressure, Temperature Sensor Evaluation Board from Bosch Sensortec. Pricing and Availability on millions of electronic components from Digi-Key Electronics.
French toast for breakfast!
So cool seeing a major component manufacturer using an open standard for their devkit platform, instead of something custom
A Qt Py flight controller called Pretty Fly for a Qt Py
Because you can't re-run the exact test gas - so you have to run all the sensor settings at once
@autumn turret yup, we were talking about that before the show... they are all using feather, or are going to (they tell us)
Do you have a relay board and sensor input that can be used with alexa voice control via WiFi that also has feedback so it knows it’s current state ? Ie on or off or not connected
I can only imagine how much easier it makes it for those who order the eval/dev kits to not have to mess with "preparing the setup to start the evaluation"
and with circuitpython, no tool chain, it's a drive, and they open .py with a text editor
@autumn turret "Commence the preparation phase!"
Soon! I'm fixin' to get ready to start the preparation phase!
some could also use as covid or not covid with this sensor?
Prepare the preparation to prepare the eval board for preparing your project...
