Pimoroni GFX HAT - 128x64 LCD Display + RGB Lite & Touch Buttons - RGB Backlight and 6 Touch Button https://www.adafruit.com/product/3935
that backlit LED effect is super nice!
Backlight is RGB
Every time I get a raspberry pi I get disappointed unfortunately. I donโt work well with Linux.
@quick veldt Perseverence...
HC-SR04 Ultrasonic Sonar Distance Sensor + 2 x 10K resistors https://www.adafruit.com/product/3942
Also, backlight on the GFX HAT is multi-zone, so you can kinda do gradients
Ok to be fair Raspbian is better than most distros like Ubuntu and Elementary.
i have some of those ultrasonic sonic sensors
Itโs fine...the permissions get me every time!
@quick veldt i'm on the subscription - i have shipping issues, no hotel, no forwarder, etc. ๐ฆ
i may have missed it, is that ultrasonic sensor I2C?
email support@adafruit.com @simple goblet
@quick veldt i havent tried linux in raspberry pi
How?
You may want to SeeSaw-enable that ultrasonic sensor...
Adafruit NeoTrellis RGB Driver PCB for 4x4 Keypad https://www.adafruit.com/product/3954
By popular request, we've upgraded our popular Trellis elastomer button kits to now have a PCB with full color NeoPixel support! You heard that right, no more single-color LEDs, you can ...
three cheers for seesaw interrupts!
those neotrellis work with neoGrid?
the HRSO4 is fun and easy - it's just a little too chunky for wearables - had to end up adding a flower to my dress but it worked really well and people were freaking out about -- HOW

"If you don't try to break it, it's not gonna break" < my design motto
Lol.
Way, way handy to make a midi switch board
I need more RGB in my life
@normal plover MakeCode has a setting to make the background a greenscreen, then I chromakey that layer in Wirecast and display my video through it.
@simple goblet one of the VL53Lxx breakout boards might be nicer for you.
RGB is one of the universally most loved technologies I know of
I'm assuming the answer is yes, but can you control the brightness of the neotrellis?
@quick veldt not better than bacon tech!
yeah, via neopixel control
@waxen thistle i would imagine so...
have one on order, going to snap fittify! ๐
Mmmm. Bacon.
@odd stream your tilt ears are wonderful!
๐ฅ
โThis battery pack with premium wires is EPICโ
star of the show battery pack!
Vegans are pining for Impossible Bacon.
bacon isnโt THAT good
They just won't admit it.
RGB is way better IMO
topSecret
Chocolate is better.
Nah
Chocolate and bacon <mic drop>
RGB is better than anything
would be awesome if the product page for the LCD phat had a GIF demo of multi-zone backlight control
RGB chocolate bacon
this is cool
Lol.
Going to buy that crickit
Does the NeoTrellis allow you to light up the LEDs as per normal neopixels, without the buttons being pressed, or do they only light up when the buttons are pressed?
when that lora gateway what only had US RF version was made me want other one too
@fallen rivet that's a nice size!!! product # 3317 ๐ thanks!!
Looking forward to that Pi-ckit (Pickit already taken by Microchip :()
Oh yeah
That looks like a tripod mount on the bottom!
Cool. I remember Mike talking about this on the show a while back.
oh dear.. obvious question... but can't ask
is it ABS?
No, polycarb
YES! very nice
Question... can it be mounted on a crickit while in the case?
Raspberry PI + Crckit allows for wifi, camera, smart algorithms. So much.
nice
I want one of those for my Circuit Playground Classic....
@simple goblet The only downside with optical solutions like that are that they don't work well in strong ambient light situations.
it's a beautiful design @compact crow!
any chance a tiny LiPo battery could fit in the back, inside the case?
Case works with crickit?
@compact crow nice design!
@compact crow yes, looks great
Test...connection issue?
Thanks!
this would make a rad, if slightly large, watch
so pretty @compact crow
Very nice @compact crow --- like a good detective, you're on the case!
O wow, great idea puttin gthe quarter 20 on the back
think if you put it with crickt
nice case!
What do you see as the different usages for the crickit with pi vs with circuit playground? Do you think one or the other would be better for students?

Who voices Adabot? ๐
Question, what do you suggest is a good way to have 2 Hallowings communicate to keep the eyes synchronized???
Could actually help the audio. turn it into an echo chamber
@fmorton is mostly about whether or not you want to subject them to Linux. Otherwise the Pi might be better if you want bluetooth or network access.
Q: HC-SRO4 what is the max range?
@fmorton we're wrestling with the same decision
can u tell about how many are adabox subs are left?
Excellent thank you for answering my question. The buttons give a lovely diffused look and the square shape, and the added bonus of being interactive. Will definitely be getting some NeoTrellis!
Why is the OLED featherwing cheaper than the standalone OLED breakouts?
Question: HalloWing compatible with Crickit despite female-female headers?
Q: Hows progress going on the saber wing? I cant wait to get my paws on that thing as im currently working on my really nice lightsaber
Will the Pi HAT Crickit work with Pi Zero?
Rpi + Crickit + ROS!
@quick veldt you could use jumper wires to emulate/rearrange pinouts...
WIll you ever add more memory to the circuit playground?
@quick veldt p sure the answer is "electronically: yes, physically: might require some wiring.."
Q: is there an organization that is working making a law or something for universal adapters for power etc. ?
@fickle umbra couldnโt you just use some headers?

Question: Would you consider that CircuitPython is completely replacing C and the Arduino IDE?
@lament sluice How true.
@quick veldt correct !
@quick veldt - for some folks but Arduino still has wide use and makes the smallest code
Python easier than C/C++
NEO TRELLIS
Ahoy ahoy freaks them out every time.
Talk Like a Pirate Day
delicious RGB LEDs
@quick veldt (mostly) unbiased third party here -- I agree with that answer. I think CP is way outpacing Arduino. It's quick to deploy, easy to learn, and very flexible & powerful.
Arduino and C are going to get you more raw speed, I don't see that going away any time soon.
congrats jeff from florida!
Congrats Jeff from FL!! (today was muggy..)
I wonder of Jeff's met Dexter...
Well C always gets you more speed?
C vs Python -- like underwear, it Depends.
@quick veldt That's a "maybe". You can do a lot of things to optimize code -- it's like having a slow Ferrari or a very fast Ford.
@quick veldt yeah. there are times where C is better, like time-critical or interrupt support.
Usually C will compile to machine code and will be faster. CircuitPython is interpreted so code is slower but dev time is super fast esp. with iterating designs
You can make C slower than Python if you're determined.
@quick veldt a compiled language is generally going to out-perform an interpreted language
It all depends on your goal -- use the right tool for the job.
Design time with CircuitPython is a fraction of a medium to large Arduino / C project
i program microcontrollers with two pushbuttons and a very steady hand
Did I misread the schedule or was show and tell at a different time today? I thought I read it as 7:30 Pacific
Arenโt there SAMD21 arduinos? Do they use C?

Yes, Arduino Zero
@quick veldt Not completely, IMO, but yes in many cases.
if you don't need that raw processing power, you're going to go compiled. if you don't need that much raw power, then *py is a great choice.
Theoretically you could native-code-ify your time-critical "Python" code and call it.
Wow this question has really taken off
Thanks DynoBot
PT nailed the answer perfectly.
Arduino Zero will use Arduino, but will not run CircuitPython as there is no flash chip on the Arduino Zero
@odd stream Amen to that.
Metro M0 Express will do both ๐
@spring heath wow thatโs too bad
I made my badge project, with image editing, in 30 mins
It's like putting a mac truck engine in a smart car. Sure, it's more powerful, but for that use case, it's a waste
Could NOT do that in Arduino
Are you guys saying C in place of cpp?
CircuitPython reduces the barriers to entry.
Arduino is a subset of C, the compiler does fill C and CPP
Arduino doesn't really advertise that they're C++ although they certainly are.
full
C++ is objectively C ๐
@lament sluice I see what you did there
@lament sluice no, that's objective-c ๐
@spring heath btw. Need to buy your book :)
...and theres sand blowing in your ears
It's in most places online and will be for sale at the Make stores at Maker Faire
@waxen thistle and not just entry; developing code is faster on CP; it might not run faster but you'll get your prototype developed much faster.
obj-c on Arduino would be an excellent april fools project
Adafruit sold out, more on the way, you can use next week's code to get the discount
i never thought the day would come when Adafruit sells out
Thanks and good night.
If obj-c transcodes to C first then it wouldn't be horrible to get it to work.
@wanton dome Exactly!
Thanks!
Thanks @open girder and all the company! great shows tonight!
Adafruit sells out of hot stuff, then they get more
tyty froots!
Thanks, @open girder ๐
At this point SAMD21 controllers are spoling me makes my Standard Arduino feather seem so complicated and boring.
Great show again!
Thanks everyone! Have a great night all!
@wanton dome The most valuable thing when teaching is preserving momentum. So hard to gain, and so many little things can bring it to a halt.
@open girder Thanks again for another wonderful evening of shows!
Night all. ๐
@quick veldt Yeah.. with the SAMD51 boards I look at my SAMD21 boards and think "why?"
Sooooooo wish cld attend makerfair
i like SAMD boards because i can use the String class without being paranoid about stack use
Yes, Arduino is not really innovating for the vast majority of their customer base so those folks look and find Adafruit is building things that fit their projects, are programmable in multiple languages, and can cost less
@odd stream because sometimes you don't want to spend $5 on a chip to have most of it sit idle ๐
Is NY maker fair every year, or every other
NY Maker Faire is every year
@ivory kiln Every year, and there are many around the country!
good luck with your talk @lethal lagoon !
There is also a huge SF Bay area Faire every year but in a different month
Well, to be fair, Arduino did just release the FPGA board. at least, i think its out...
@strange mantle thanks!!!! ๐
There are smaller Mini Maker Faires everywhere, keep an eye on the maker faire site for dates
Great thanks!
Canโt wait to make a project with my hallowing
@sick vergemmersoft, did they release their magic, super easy FPGA software? DFOubt it
Goals:
Attend 2019 NY Maker Fair & get a job with Adafruit.
You'll see alot of Crickit HATs for Pi running bots, NeoPixels, etc. Makes all that super simple
Goals:
Buy more adafruit
yeah it may not be out yet. and, i imagine it wont be nearly as easy as standard Arduino. but...i would consider that a movement in the "new innovation" direction.
I'm sure they're going to sell like hot cakes
@spring heath potential for smart cloud connected bots is really appealing
Wifi and camera support
there is now more FPGA boards
Been hard finding a way to control my CPX with a remote. Just IR, and IR is pretty bad most of the time.
helps for intelligence projects fo rsure
@ivory kiln I don't work for them, but the best thing they have said in the past is to contribute. Go onto show & tell, publish guides on your site of choice (ie Instructables), help with CircuitPython, be a stand up fella in discord ๐
Yes, many many Adafruit hired folks have come from people in the community who demonstrate an aptitude for their work and helping people.
No guarantees, but like any company, a way to get noticed and help the community too
Maybe the Pi Crickit will result in more of those live stream bots where random folks on the internet interact with robotics
Great thanks @waxen thistle ๐
And to build onto what @spring heath said....nothing is ever guaranteed in life. But when you work on transparent, community-driven team projects with an open source focus --- you can easily point at your contributions and say "See? Look here! I have done awesome things!" when interviewing at other places.
My favorite way to end a Wednesday is by looking at the stars while talking on discord.
On adafruit specifically
Hmm, On instructables huh? Hmm, well, learning how to do an instructibles post is on tomorrows lesson plan.
Good for you
I like learning things on instructables
I would make guides if I were good enough at anything to teach people ๐
@quick veldt Learn some stuff, then teach it! Unless you were literally born yesterday (in which case, great computer skills), you've learned something that someone else has not. Find someone to teach it to
Very true @waxen thistle . nothing is guaranteed, however patients and persistence are great & positive qualities to have, and life has taught me the lessons for those well. ๐ And for me, it's not just getting a job, it's getting around & working with folks of good character and passions for what they do. And Adafruit has that. Goodness just for the sake of just doing good. To me, that is the kind of thinking and acting that is going to change the world for the better. And goodness knows this world desperately needs it. ๐
Good to have ambition
Never doubt what your good at @quick veldt . You never know what your good at till you learn and try. ๐
@quick veldt What @wanton dome said!
No itโs fine. Sounds like Iโm insulting myself but really I havenโt had much time to learn things.
Some people here have probably had longer electronics careers than Iโve been alive
Eventually the students become the teachers right?
@quick veldt It's pretty common to compare yourself to people who are "better" at stuff than you while ignoring the things where you're the "better" person. I do it pretty much by default, but you (I'm talking to myself here) should always take the time to pat yourself on the back for the things you do know.
If you've not had much time to learn stuff yet, take it as a blessing! The world is your oyster; if you stick with it you can learn ANYTHING
@quick veldt There are always folks who would love to learn what you have already learned. Help them get going and don't worry about covering the subject cradle to grave.
Usually I just think big. Not sure if itโs a good mindset to consider my life just a glimpse of the universe, but I find it quite inspiring. If people can make huge airplains, massive skyscrapers, and complex road systems than why can I learn the entirety of Circuitpython, soldering, and anything else. Haha
You know, @quick veldt , one of the best teachers I ever had, ( I found out years later) was when I was in my 20's. I found out they literally at were only one maybe two lessons ahead of the class I was in. She had never taught before the class that she taught. She was a single mom of 3 kids, and had no time to do much of anything. But even still without any prior experience, nor with much of ANY for knowledge. was a great teacher. I'm telling Zenith, never doubt what you can be capable of achieving.
Will do
Sorry, I had to dip out for a second there...
@ivory kiln Those aspirations you mentioned above will be a positive effect for the world regardless of any company you work for. We need more folks with your mindset -- it's comforting to know ya'll are out there.
And regarding learning electronics -- like anything in life, you aren't going to know everything about all topics. You can specialize, you can generalize, you can cherry-pick between those two.
Do what makes you happy in that regard. I generalize my learning until I hit a project snag, then I get frustrated -- and I stand toe-to-toe with the challenge until I not only conquer it, but I have mastered it inside and out. I've owned it. Beaten it into submission. It's the area where I'm a subject matter "expert".
Lol, very true. As they say: do what you love & you'll never have to work a day in your life. ๐
Well....hmm. That's a nice nugget of advice. And if I said it, it would be "do as I say, not as I do."
In polite terms, I've made compromises every step along the way. And although I can "always" change that, circumstances don't allow me to do so without strong consequences.

Awww so cute!
Hmm, if Adafruit only had a Halloween themed board to put in the Halloween themed Adabox...
Future Kitty is interested to see what @haughty quiver is going to do the the HallowWing since she knows I got one to make her an interactive toy.
I'm working on a feather M0 Bluefruit + CRICKIT robot project/guide at the moment.
That's ok, I know how to make additional ๐ with a heat gun and a water jug.
Escape rooms - great thought!
@haughty quiver think for having electromagnet in belt for lightsaber
the ckrikit feather wing is soooooooooo awesome that I definitely have to find a use for it !
The feather ecosystem is one of the most flexible and functional line of boards I've ever seen.
I still love the CPX as a do-nearly-everything entry-level & prototyping board.
Need to get my lego bricks back from my son.
I like when John's live demoes have little snags, because he handles them so brilliantly. When the robot/zombie apocalypse comes, I pick John for my survival team ๐
@inner spade Just look at your foot. There should be some embedded in the bottom of it.
That's not a zoomed-in green screen CPX. That's actually a giant sized CPX sitting on top of his Ultimaker ๐
@waxen thistle I've been suitably impressed many times.
Crickit witch CPX in the belt and when you put lightsaber close it hook to it
and charge your lightsaber

What's the probability of a camera failing during a live demo? *shakes magic 9 ball

Answer unclear ... ask later!
-9.8
9 is the most digestible number too. Because seven ate nine. I would not recommend attempting to eat the magic 9 ball though.
@waxen thistle Doesn't work in octal... 7 10 11
Needs a few NeoPixels shining through the translucent plug.
D20... dodecohedron?
would it be cool if the hallowing was otherside around
Insta-Morph would be great to hold that in place
The orange one looks like BB-8.
@haughty quiver - did you use the Fusion Threads?
Wonderful project!
@odd stream yep I think it's a dodecahedron !
Takes me back to my childhood? Yes.
๐ฑ
I wonder how the hallowing would look if it was showing to ball
Great show, as always, John. Always impressed by what you come up with and how smoothly you get through the shows! Thank you.
I'll mirror that sentiment -- thanks again John for another awesome show!
she
Nice job @simple goblet !
it was fun to make! i'm just not a man ๐
thanks @haughty quiver !
When that neotrellis comes in, I may have to recreate your remote control unit.
Oh yes indeed @waxen thistle !
sorry @simple goblet I feel terrible about that assumption!
the Magic 9 ball would look magic if hallowing was facing other way and was touching the ball glass
it's ok ๐
Hmmm.. yeah. That neotressis is sweet. I'll be giving some thought to what I could do with it. Anyone know the size of the buttons and required force?
Very cool show @haughty quiver I think I want to make a spider drop down into someone's face when they come through the door of my workshop. ๐
very kind of you @deep blade !
@haughty quiver I have a bunch of RF remote light switches -- think smart-home, but dumb-home ๐ I wanted to press a button to turn off/on lights in hard to reach locations.
They make a bridge for that so it can be IP accessible. Well...why not make a master control panel with the new neotrellis? ๐
neotrellis is great
Great show today @haughty quiver . Thanks!
Good show @haughty quiver Glad I tuned in.. it's been a few weeks ๐ฆ

Plus, with all the newer LCD displays available, I think I can put a nice spin on that control board.
@zenith pike Explain please, maybe one of us can help.
Okay, so i bought an arduino Nano, and im trying to connect it to a 12v rgb led light strip, and im trying to figure out how to connect it so that the usb 2.0 thats connected to the nano can power the strip also
@zenith pike Well, you shouldn't do that but you can by getting a voltage converter. Otherwise, get a seperate supply and use a 2n2222 trany to interface the signal line.
Adafruit has some very good guides on using 12 volt light strips. I suggest you check them out.
Okay, but this is what im trying to follow atm, and im just trying to figure out if i can connect the usb 2.0 to a wall adapter after i add on the program
An easy, cheap way to make an awesome DIY RGB mousepad! Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/nerdforge Music: epidemicsound.com PARTS USED: - Chopping board: htt...
because in the video, he leaves it attached to his computer
so im not sure
I suppose the wall adapter will work as long as it provides 5 to 9 volts. Your getting 5 volts from the computer via USB so just connect a 5 volt adapter like you want to do. I would think it will work as long as the 12 volt conversion is already done.
Anytime, that's what Adafruits Discord is for.
okay, sorry to bother you again, but I have another quick question
The led strip that i have has 4 wires, red, green, blue, and a 12v one
but in the video, theres only a red, green, and 12v one
That sounds like an analog strip that you can change all at once, rather than a NeoPixel style strip that you can individually address each LED.
With those, you put 12V to positive voltage and then ground each of the R,G, and B wires to get red, green, blue or mixtures of them.
Here's info on that type of strip: https://learn.adafruit.com/rgb-led-strips
Also, on amazon, every picture shows the led strip with different color lights at the same time
These will not be powered by the Nano, but you can use the Nano to switch on and off the 12V supply to the different colors using MOSFETs as shown here: https://learn.adafruit.com/rgb-led-strips/usage
Oh, OK, I looked at your Amazon link, forget what I said about analog strips!
okay haha
I'm trying to figure out what those are and how you control them.
okay cool
I don't think they're individually addressable, so more like the analog strips I mentioned, but not sure how they're doing the patterns.
I suspect it will come down to using MOSFETs like that guide shows.
mosfets?
they are transistors that are used for switching power on and off to a big, power hungry device using a small control signal, such as what the Nano can provide to do the switching.
I was just watching your unboxing of Adabox 008 @haughty quiver while wondering what might come in Adabox 009. & a quandry arose. Has anyone ever tried, or do you think it could or would, 2 different CP devices, like The CPX on a Cricket interacting with a Hallowing? Say for instance, Hallowing goes to turn it's eye to the right so a command is sent & the CPX on the Cricket with motors steers to the right. Giving the appearance that it's a single unit, lol a single little creature, working as one.
Could even dress him in a fuzzy cloth or something, or print up a little head (for the Hallowing) & a body.
@ivory kiln I've used an ESP8266 talking to an ATTiny, and a 328p talking with an ATTiny. It wouldn't be terribly difficult
And, I think that you can (With some effort) connect the Hallowing to a Crickit
That is cool @river peak . What kind of interaction was there between them? Sensor data, instructions?
The 328p was just an experiment to get it to work. The ESP8266 was a lot more complex. The 8266 controlled a TFT, while the ATTiny ran the buttons, backlight, voltage regulator/power, etc
It was all done via i2c
Nice!
Also, the Crikit, the Joy FeatherWing, and the SeeSaw are all run by SAMD microcontrollers (Specially programmed)
What do you mean by specially programmed?
They don't run Arduino/CircuitPython
How do the CPX & the cricket work together if the Cricket doesn't use CP?
Just like any other periphrial.
If I remember correctly, the Crickit uses i2c
So, master device sends commands with a specific address. Subsidiary device with that address sees those commands, and executes them
What language are the commands in? I2C?
They're not in a specific language.
You send the I2C device info, and what it does with that info depends on how it is programmed.
Ok, got it.
What language does the Hallowing work in / communicate in?
As I'm guessing that there will be one in the Adabox I ordered. lol, My first Adabox, gotta admit I'm a little excited. ๐
Hallowing uses CircuitPython by default, but it can also use Arduino. Not sure if it's supported by MakeCode yet
Guessing I should stop working on learning MakeCode & get back to learning CP then huh?
There's nothing wrong with learning MakeCode
but yeah, it does look like the Hallowing doesn't have MakeCode yet
And assuming, (hoping) that one is going to be in AdaBox 009, I should switch. Ok @river peak , can you recommend the best tutorial / project for a total noob to start learning CP? Mind u the only board I have so far is a CPX.
CPX is a wonderful starting point.
Honestly, I don't have any specific recommendations right now (And am arguing with a headache and a dozen other things at the moment), but there are a ton of Learn articles for the CPX and CP
O ya! Of all of the $1000 + of Ada products that I lost, I'm thankful that it's a CPX that I was lucky enough to still have.
B12 is really really great for migraines! B12, Magnesium, & Calcium combined work really well. Advil liquigels work really well for getting rid of my migraines.
I wouldn't call it a migraine, but thanks for the advice.
Certainly, Hope you feel better & thanks for the help. ๐
@zenith pike no, the Nano can supply 5V at a very small current (60mA IIRC). Those strips will require an external 12V supply. If you want to try to replicate the very cool cutting board mouse pad project more closely without adding additional power supply and circuit, you will want to use a thin NeoPixel strip instead of those 12V lights you linked to.
I was wondering if anybody can help me there's a sketch that's already been built I would just like to add a button so if I press it it will turn on and off and if I hold it it will dim my lights I'm not a programmer I can just flash edit a little code but that's about it any help would be appreciated

Wait, a halloween board in a halloween-themed adabox? hmm. intriguing.
this must be a red herring, there's no way Adafruit would do something so predictable ๐ค
I made myself a microUSB tester with LEDs on all four lines, best 15 minutes I ever spent
The book is available in ebook format too.
@haughty quiver You need to start typing
IT'S A TRAP!
I find that I really enjoy Anker's line of USB cables (and cables in general). They have several lines of them of varying features -- they go from excellent to awesome.
It's a TARP! Wait no, a TRAP!
Kindly wait here for the trap to be set. Thank you for your patience.

@copper yoke It'll be at the same place.
The only way I broke a Anker Powerline + USB cable, was by slamming it in a car door.
@leaden trail And you should've seen the car door afterwards!
Oh. on the adafruit channel. Gotcha.
Who doesn't love a cyclops
Adafruit black isn't just #000000, it can only be accurately represented with a 32-bit float for each channel
Post to push Ackbar to the BackBar
Oooh, shiny
wow! looks amazing!!!
Sparkly!
@copper yoke my show is on all the Adafruit streaming places https://blog.adafruit.com/2018/09/25/john-parks-workshop-live-9-27-18-adafruit-johnedgarpark-adafruit/

Hey, a wild @glossy glacier appears!
Unfortunately I'm not having much luck getting this stuff to work right.
Cool projects. I thought ohbother was going to be on the show tonight.
Kinda hodgepodged stuff together. ๐
Who would think that a microscope that looks at electrons would be sooo massive?
shielding shielding shielding
looks like that would be out of my scope of work

And back to work on the microscope behind me...
Hopefully a device will be playing AAE while you're hard at work
Yup. I probably wont be that active in the chat though...

@waxen thistle so more time than last week makecode minute? @haughty quiver
maybe it's not "minute" as in the length of time, but with a long U, like "a minute period of MakeCode goodness"
@haughty quiver you have to start saying "MakeCode minooote" now
Is Adafruit planning on a presence tomorrow at the OSH Summit ??
yes, a substantial one
"where is it now?" "mars, probably"

What would you use as a remote control to control a makecode project using the CPX + Crickit? I was hoping the mini remote control would work because the button selection is exactly what we need.

See ya all, as Noe says, buy my book, but I'd never stoop that low as to hawk it
@muted mesa I was planning on going. Might have driven, might have flown. Then my car started... prodigiously leaking oil, to the extent of about 2-3 quarts a week. I don't want to go far with it in case it decides to get worse and die, so a 4-6 hour drive is well out of the question. And a flight's just a bit too expensive at this point.
@waxen thistle thank you! and i will. the line-up of talks looks pretty stellar
@river peak 2-3 quarts? internal or external leak? and yeah...i've been in that position. hard to gamble with a solo daily driver.
@river peak I hate it when my horseless carriage leaks dinosaur liquid.
holds breath
@muted mesa External. It's not burning it, although the air vents will occasionally smell very strongly.
wait, nevermind
I wonder why the book is only offered on the Kindle & not in any other digital format?
๐ค Being made of decayed dinosaurs, does that make using coal & oil a form of recycling?
i'm not sure if i'd buy it then...
that's actually the last thing you should name it ๐

is it StarLord no is it SkyWalker no its Star Wing
now you can release your inner ninja with star wing
you can ah ur um decrypt kindle books then they're available for whatever you gots
@river peak hmm...if i had to guess, i'd say valve cover gasket. possibly oil pan. unless turbocharged, then it could be the oil supply line there...

I meant the thing basically does backflips
But as they say count the blessings for what you have not what you once had u know.
@quick veldt
Ok well it seems to be a touchy subject so Iโm sorry. :(
@split gazelle Any talks in particular are you excited for?
Of which I'm going to go see if I can get this webcam to work so hopefully it'll work for next weeks show & tell.

Hay @haughty quiver does the HalloWing have built a in lipo charger?
Scratch that, I found it & for anyone else that is wondering. yes it does. ๐
Hay @haughty quiver I've been looking over the Adabox 009 & more over the Hallowing and noticed that it says: "LiPoly battery port with built in recharging capability" But where and how do you plug the power in to be able to charge the LiPo?
Hi @ivory kiln yes, HalloWing has built in LiPo charging -- power comes in over the USB port.
This is the same as other Feather boards, BTW.
@haughty quiver if you have those glass or plastic lens those would be cool if you dont have class cover in that hallowing side yet
