hell no
oh ok
panels are 768, 3x 32x8 panels x 2
then 4 strips for 48 pixels, all pre-soldered too
still plenty of solder in between though

so, still a lot of joints
yeah, it was maybe a week of work for the hardware and 4weeks+ for the software

and who ever has their playa projects done before they get to the playa
that's just jinxing it, I know it'll break before I get there
yea, you gotta expect it all to fall apart when you get out there
Standardization - that's what I like to see. ๐
I have spares because I know it will
the neopixel strips on the arms and legs is what breaks the most
i was on s&t a few years ago with my bike all el-wired out. that stuff started breaking as soon as i hit the bumpy playa
repeated flexing breaks the joins between pixels
it's hard to find people to help with that stuff out there too
CircuitPython + SBCs + sensors = way cool
Yay Discord!
Yay US

yay!
Oh that video is nice
Someone was screwing around
7000! ๐
Congrats @spring heath
good job
Lots of work by everyone
Great work @spring heath and all contributors
A "notebook"-powered robot!
Good work by everyone, some pretty awesome guides this week
You're all wonderful folks ๐
Ooh! Look at all the motors!
Ladyada and Mr. Ladyada also contributed tons to this guide
Are there arduino libs for the Crickit?
All their research goes into their guides and products
@spring heath Skimming through it now.. looks excellent!
@past nova Hello Globe? ๐
I want to change it to "Hello Universe", want the aliens to feel welcome
@past nova Is it more like "Hello!" - World?
I've intentionally avoided robotics for these very reasons up to this point. Between the cost, the learning curve, the lack of a good "hello world" experience....
@waxen thistle yep
solder coins
Oooh, it's like an arcade machine for solder!
Solder coins! For the selective solder arcade machine!
Or, more accurately, a vending machine
@open girder Congrats on hitting 1500 guides!
Put solder in, get nice boards out
@odd stream You've certainly helped
@spring heath If it was only that easy
That solder fountain is the coolest thing I've seen for a long time.
JJ Abrams lens flare ๐
Hmm... I should do a guide on PCBWeb, since it's the PCB design tool I use and hey, letting people know how it's used could be neat
these films are so hypnotic
Hook that into Adafruit I/O, add it to a twitch stream.....audience controlled fireworks ๐
@river peak It's what I do now ๐
@odd stream Means you can't slack off now!
this project is the rare occasion where you want your project to spark lol
@trail zephyr And ALSO catch on fire
OfficeMax ruler? Comon, we need a DigiKey ruler for that scoring!
@waxen thistle They couldn't score one in time
@river peak So glad to be done with Slack... Last job I was watching all the teams' channels.
@odd stream Now it's time to channel that frustration
It really is
No joke, i have this discord open all the time on my laptop
Speaking of scoring rulers, I need to get to staples and get some drafting tools for cardboard crafting.
Oh, so we SHOULDN'T lick the heated wire?
@waxen thistle I'm part of a... number of discord servers. There are two I actually keep tabs on
@odd stream If you have a hobby lobby nearby, check them out. They're doing a red-tag clearance sale on random gear -- like 1/4th the cost of their retail.
This one
@river peak Well, you can...
the construction of that button is so cool
that is awesome
And the horse convention vendor one. That's easy to keep track of, though, since it's not super active
Hi @split gazelle - have you been lurking? ๐
@waxen thistle It's actually open on both my desktops, that sit next to each other on my desk. So one usually has it not covered by other windows ๐
OMG, my world is shattered, I thought all smoke was blue!
๐ Heya @split gazelle
Hoy @split gazelle !
@odd stream @waxen thistle I have one of my monitors as "Discord"
Raptortastic
@waxen thistle No Hobby Lobbys around here. I think that's just a US chain.
hey @lavish patrol @waxen thistle @river peak && everybody ๐ and nope, no lurking- just late haha

Yeah, I saw that on Instagram the other day
Question @open girder: What is the biggest difference between the FTDI cable vs. the FTDI Friend? It seems as if the Friend is more capable, but the cable is costlier. Am I missing something as to why that is?
Whoa, IRC was pretty....dark
BBSes
Iโm working on making my own discord community atm
I started on C64 based BBSes
Awesome, thank you @open girder ๐
is there a CPX update firmware to flash yet?
Chandel-earrings?
Question: What's the youngest anyone's started teach a child making?
Ya C64 bbses @odd stream I remember those days 300 baud days

When is the release of circuitpython 3.0 coming? approximately..
@open girder is the Bluefruit LE Sniffer not supported anymore? there are some questions on the forum that haven't been answered in a long-long time.
Ohhh @river peak , all the jokes I can't make.
Thank you for doing cardboard projects - i thought i was the only one without a 3d printer for enclosures etc. ๐
@eager sapphire Such a long wait...
3.0 final will come as the final issues are worked out - look at the pull request and issue list to see. All features are basically locked in to ensure it gets out
@waxen thistle ๐ฉ
I also like the cardboard projects
@odd stream - prep time is always good!
Nintendo Labo ๐
The Adafruit Learning System is getting lots of cardboard projects
PAPER CUTTERS ARE AWESOME
I've started using cardboard.
Cardboard is GREAT - low cost
Cardboard looks nice
I have a 3D printer and I still want a paper cutter
Generally a mix of 3D printing and cardboard.
Did I hear a mention a few minutes ago about a Cortex-M7 product in the works?
I dunno...itโs just crafty and nice
Your independent Dollar Stores are a great place for cheap parts (like wooden dowels, etc)
Cardboard for low cost robotics
@fallen rivet I believe so
@open girder Planning on getting a Cri-cut in the store? ๐
Was this talked about earlier in the show? I tuned-in :25.
I saw one at hobby lobby recently
Lots of Cri-cuts available from the hobby shops & craft shops
OHM-BIT-STAB
Aw puzzles arenโt my thing. Going to save that once per lifetime pass for another time. ๐
Noe & Pedro publish their cutting info in their guides and on their show
Well played, @quick veldt .

hi!!!
hey!
Hi!
Hello !
music!
Hey can you postpone the show for about 30 minutes ? I'm in a middle of hot gluing stuff... no ? ok then ๐ I'll glue later !
haha, sorry man
Groovy music, I likez dat !
I named this track "Street Chicken"
A very fitting title !
HEY all
Reminds me of Mussorgsky: Ballet of the Chicks in Their Shells by Tomita
for some reason I had to up the video quality on youtube again
Yeah, it keeps coming up 144p here, lately
and Thrift Store Find of the Week?
I just wanna know what @haughty quiver got in that box he tweeted out about the other day
adafruit is live at https://www.twitch.tv/adafruit
JOHN PARK'S WORKSHOP LIVE 7/5/18 Stroboscopic Zoetrope @adafruit @johnedgarpark #adafruit
That was actually kinda mean
lol
OMG this wing looks awesome !
I really should stop watching this show before I go broke spending all my money on Adafruit products !
i'm with you, I didn't know they had this until now...
fun adafruit fact: the default demo code is used to test the featherwings at adafruit HQ when they come off the assembly line
it looks freaking fast
m4 is faster!
he had to mention there is a bigger one.... bye bye wallet
yeah, you evil @haughty quiver ! ๐
No, it's because you showed us a Adabox 008
lol!!
I went to order a couple of M4's last night, but I just missed it, for the second time...
Funny how this "forever" bloc is placed right on top of the AdaBox in the background... "ForEver: AdaBox" ^^
That's why the compass is also called a divider.
I thought a divider was the one with 2 points, while a compass has a pencil.
Touch of grey there, John.
Yeah I hate Noe & Pedro ! They shown a very fancy cardboard button this week, made me want to buy a Cricut !!
no signal @haughty quiver
audio okay
118 days to Halloween. Plenty of time for the life-sized version.
Like a Mickey Mantle baseball bat
For some reason I'm thinking about fast food.
If the frames of animation are too big of a jump it'll cost ya a ping-pong ball (but the waste is reusable).
The 'latitude' of the eyes are pretty consistent, John. Nice job by eye. (..ahem)
๐
And now, let's hope the ping pong balls are well attached ๐ otherwise... bye bye balls ๐
You can look through an electric fan, John. That'll strobe it.
(aim the fan blades so it exhausts the air away from the pong platter, to avoid disturbing it)
Sodium street lamps at night and knobby tires on a bicycle -- at a specific rolling rate it gives the stop-motion effect.
very close
the camera scan lines are showing choppy vid compared with what you see in the studio with your own eyes
Tune for the six balls to be distinct from each other, turning very slowly.
The zero-beat point will move from ccw to cw rotation, and occasionally stand still.
Impressive: no pong balls flew off the platter.
given that the camera captures 30 images per seconds, shouldn't the LED flash at 30 Hz so we can see it working ?
Or dotstars or regular white LEDs
Use discrete white LED's rather than 'protocol' LED's.
(an IR xmitr LED can be modulated to 38 KHz!)
like 10 common cathod LEDs ?
... or fewer. The Disneyvision used six.
That was only awesome, @haughty quiver , thanks. Scared me a lil bit.
Great show! Lots of ideas...
haha, sorry about that @eager sapphire
Just a little jumpy now
thanks @haughty quiver ! Great show and cool project !
thank you so much, this was fun!
That was cool.
Should be able to reverse it and make a display that gives textual messages 'somehow' as an output device.
Painted faces on ping-pong balls and John-in-a-box.
'I was expecting balls to go flying off
lol
Crickit controlled pingpong server bot
Best part is, a flying ping pong ball doesnโt hurt that much - no matter how hard your sister hits it
@young adder i think you're onto something with the framerate needing to accomodate camera capture
then adjust motor speed to get the strobe effect right
So camera frame rate drives the system (since itโs pretty much static)
You now have an excuse to pick up a slow-mo camera. (high frame rate)
Electric fan blades (regular room-sized cooling fan for people to sit near) were very good to see the scan lines on the Macintosh (which had a 50 Hz refresh!)
Yeah, but in real life, we don't need cameras - or maybe to show off to friends and familly ๐
When you unplug the fan and it slows, at some point it synchronizes perfectly with the CRT refresh.
Should be a way to PWM the motor windings to help synchronize as well.
haha @inner spade slomo cam yes please
Or perhaps use optical encoder to detect position of the shaft, use that to trigger lights (+ some adjustable delay)
yeah meta that way you can be asynch all around ;)
Then dial in shaft speed to match video rate
Or magnets under the balls with a hall effect sensor
Yeah
alright guys, time to go to bed around here ! Cheers, tty next week !
However you'd need a video capture to send to youtube that was async (movable timebase).
night, thanks for hanging out
Later Yannick
Iโd think youโd only have to synch to the local cam...but...well..
There must be an acetate film to video (or the other direction) method used so that frame rates aren't visible to the audience to the final medium.

Hi Pedro!
hello!
adafruit is live at https://www.twitch.tv/adafruit
How long are the streams normally?
about an hour long
digikey search is horrible, I have tried criket, cricket, and adafruit and still haven't found their listing
It's "crickit"

- Embedded Evaluation Board
they only have the cpx one, I was hoping to get the feather wing crickit
On a 'non' related topic, have they shipped adabox 008 yet? My order still says preparing for shipment
oops, I just noticed that
ahh, cricket is a phone or a wanna-be baseball game
Yeah, it's cric-kit as in "kit".
contribute via a "pull request"
Of course if want Hans to be astable, you will need Cappy and Mho
@rocky reef id love to see a resource for how to design 3d printed and laser cut acrylic snap-fit joints if you got one
they did a video on snap fit

@haughty quiver must really have had a ball making this
I think he was just going in circles, @river peak
That's the sort of thing nightmares are made of. ๐
@waxen thistle He took the idea for a spin
The ping pong balls look terrified
@normal plover Yep. ๐
@normal plover I'd be terrified if someone hot glued me to a circle and spun me really fast.
That is hilarious.
That is really awesome.
Seems to be doing an A, B position freeze-frame, @haughty quiver
they are saying "HELP ME"
Is that 9am or 9pm?
So when is John Park going to build a Wall-E with a CPX + Crickit?

@lethal lagoon You can do an Iron (Wo)Man idea with the crickit
ah, ok, just wondering.
oh yeah great idea! more wings on things!
that looked like arc reactor that crickt
Just make up your own sci fi superhero name to go along with the costume
Those are nice!
Very nice
That's how they built the pyramids too
Its like D&D meets Heroica.
We need an Engineering skill roll ๐
Is that the guy who made OpenForge or is he just using them?

I need to get on there some day. First I need a decent project....
I hope you all forgive the studdering presentation. Difficult to do coherent in a room of 14 year olds.
thanks all!
@steep island you look very mature for a 14 year old
@rapid hornet OK, let's have it. How old are you going to be? ๐
I eat my veggies.
my mic worked! time to celebrate
@steep island I think we all agree, your presentation was dino mite
Very punny
@lethal lagoon Pet MIDI the computer muter to celebrate!

@lethal lagoon also those wings moved
@clear matrix @river peak shhh she's sleeping
@shell mason yes! and they didn't fall
The block feature also works quite well
@lethal lagoon The live demo gremlin was sleeping tonight!
whats the best way to keep a servo horn on a servo?
i know that sounded like a joke but i'm actually asking ๐
With glue or a screw
@lethal lagoon Screw?
@fallow fractal actually, a pirates first love has always been the C
haha
@lethal lagoon There's generally a screw holw in the middle
@lethal lagoon i was thinking if those wings made of cardboard was made from foam could it still work
@lethal lagoon servo might even have come with the right screw.
@lethal lagoon yeah, most have a hole for a screw in the middle...cause that obviously hasn't been typed yet. ๐
ohhh a screw! it seems so obvious now
@rapid hornet Sorry, I don't beleive your going to be 64, maybe 32 but Happy Birthday anyways.
As Homer Simpson has once said.....DOH
threw me off because the screws that came with it dont fit into that hole

Circuit playground is much better
Past versions of Adabot and LadyAda? I suspect a TARDIS was involved here....
I just realized the video is about Circuit Playground, not CPX!
aww that was so cute!

@jagged aspen It's been updated on some level, because the original Circuit Playground doesn't work with CircuitPython.

What was the link for the Robotics meetup?
....apologies? I posted the link and I got slapped.
woah that's low 57 KHz.
EDIT: 87 KHz.
@waxen thistle It has subwords in it that Dyno doesn't like.

Adabox 008 is green
@buoyant basin Yes, they do, but the Silent Service will never admit it. Shshshsh...

Crickit truly is a robotics platform weโve needed for a long time. I think it will bring a lot of people into robotics.
that mount crickit is like satellite
The new adabox is awesome!
No spoilers :)
I think saying it's awesome isn't a spoiler, given it's from adafruit ๐
Many years ago I took RHCE training with a guy who was a submariner in the Navy.
so there is a car inside Adabot08

@jagged aspen Haven't received my 008 yet. But don't worry about spoiling anything. I'm going to watch the unboxing on Friday night anyway.
huh. i just finished my sammich... (well, bagel, but close enough)

@lavish patrol Yeah, they have a rigorous replacement schedule for the tubes, etc.
60 years old and giving up my Software Developers career to drive trucks. How cool is that?
when you make a robot car with oopic and sensors its hard work
what i have to use in oopic R was needing to use printer port in pc to connect it to oopic R board to program a robot
@quick veldt Choices, gotta love 'em...
I didnโt mention Arduino IDE because I dislike it
then later the school used lego mindstorms to teach robotics for students
Fun fact: LEGO mindstorms supports makecode now. It works just like a CPX where it shows up as a drive and you drop the makecode file onto the brick.
i am so excited to be tinkering with motors now! i never thought i could do it before
@quick veldt The arduino IDE is ok, but you might want to check out "mu" for coding in python. It's very nice.
@heavy siren way ahead of you. I love python and mu
i figured i wouldnt have the attention span to get through the basics to do anything cool
You don't want to overwhelm people.
@quick veldt Great, glad to hear it.... ๐
@lethal lagoon with crickit you just need 5 mins and some motors
one group was able to make robotic rc car to not hit things was really hard and not easy
@proper trench I know what you meaning by the hassles and delays as I worked on industrial automation in the heavy industry for over 30 years
It boils down to one thing: momentum.
When introducing new topics, we have to work to make them simple yet rewarding with results. And we have to make it easy to continue.
Otherwise we will lose that hard-to-get momentum.
When I get momentum I just keep going. Sometimes I hop from thing to thing so fast I create hazards
i think often people think that making things simple means nerfing it or making it less useful, but i see soooo many possibilities with just basic servos and motors, i will build the complexity later
Those plastic spheres with the joiners are good
Had them last week or the week before on this show.
for people who dont have electric engineer to help them its harder
Always good to test theories with something quick
well back in the day
@fallow fractal Capsella?
I think Makecode is great. I love it with my mindstorms kit and I will love it with my CPX
Yes Capsella
Especially during an โarchitectureโ phase, to see if something is even practical
@lethal lagoon You're absolutely right -- simple has such a negative connotation, and it's hard to disassociate from that.
The jacks and connectors really make the Crickit a great platform for reusable components and easy swapping of parts.
when IT engineer students back in a day tried to make a robot it was so harder as normally they can make something move but with hardware its different
That looks like electronic frosting.
@rigid wren agreed. And itโs all beautifully labeled and well organized. It makes it that much easier to get going.
Great things are going to come from crickit when thousands of people get their hands on it at once
That 3D printer was making a loofah
I wish there was s'more
new new new new???
I've taught leadership courses for Boy Scout summer camp - and the lessons behind the Crickit aren't very different. Ok, we didn't use a pick & place on the kids -- but it was hard to build that momentum to get them really "into" things.
But man, once we got them going -- having a group of dedicated, enthusiastic young folks constructively attack a challenge -- that was really something to behold.

That color....
Adafruit 1.54" Tri-Color eInk / ePaper Display with SRAM - Red Black White https://www.adafruit.com/product/3625
or blinka color?
Blinka on e-ink-a
This display is perfect. I am planning a project that was going to use something like this I randomly found on Amazon. Now there's an Adafruit product for it!
Yeah that's a rich saturation on that display.
Bl-e-ink-a
It's a high-tech magnadoodle.
And a nice GFX based library ๐
Does the e ink display work with circuit python?
barcode your design
msn
QR code not so much barcode well it could fit
See its still on even though disconnected.
Still looks pretty good after two days
I use VS Code as my code editor and notepad
that'll be interesting how the Cali E-Ink license plate experiment will go, with the burn-in.
Looks like a tattoo
top secret
Ram slot Crickit
This should be awesome in schools.
Yup.
Yeah that is for sure. skoolz.
Microbit is huge in schools here in Canada.
or any edgeconnector board
@odd stream what province?
I have Azure IOT Devkit board what use edge connector
Ontario I have first hand knowledge of.
Regarding that e-ink board, holding an image for two days - totally unpowered right now?
They're quite limited, though...
Q: Are round and octagon PCB shapes more challenging to do than rectangle designs, and what happens to all the waste?
yes e-ink stays at the last state it saw
Are there any plans to carry the PiJuice HAT in the Adafruit shop?
Where can I get a Circuit Python Tee shirt like the one your wearing???
Sweeeeet thanks
@odd stream I teach some automation robotics at Mohawk in Southern Ontario
hexagonal would tile
We are makers! Make yer own!
Thanks ๐
Not a question, just hugs for creating an accessible robotics to ecosystem with Crikt! ๐
Hexacon Crickit?
Is there a time table for circuitpython working with Bluefruit L E
@open girder Got it, your right, I will make my own. I have a Cricut so it will be easy. Just a thought
m4 CAN bus feather
Plus Maxim has at least one Feather.
Q: Can the GPIO from a crickit drive something like a display?
Making servos and sensors so accessibleโthatโs a wonderful big step forward (just like these Atmel boards were so long ago)
Itโs a beautiful thing.
Final Question: With how much savings are in Adaboxes how do they stay profitable, or are they profitable at all? Free shipping is so great.
seesaw with crickit and using edge connector so who make board with edgeconnector would be nice if it can be used as Crickit
CPX and CricCut are like Plug-n-Play except it's Plug-n-Code.
All this winning!
Aw man :( I really wanted to win this week.
He sounds great on 87 KHz. ;)

Thanks @open girder and everyone! go break CircuitPython 3 so it can get better!
Bye all. ๐
I'll be doing Humidty/Temoperature monitor jar 2.0 with a Feather M? and that eink display.
Thanks!
Good shows!
@open girder Iโm obsessively looking around the internet for crickit stuff...so upload more crickit stuff ๐
Planning something like that for the fish tanks here, @odd stream
there is likely that E-ink after 2days have pinkish backgound could be turned closer to ladyada hair color?
Something lowwww power
Looking forward to getting my adabox
@quick veldt I have a few Crickit guides in the works.
Awesome
crickit is nice for fishtank or terrarium if you hacve
Thanks all!!!
@lethal lagoon good luck with your project
thanks @quick veldt !
Great show, always is
@quick veldt I've been working on one while watching tonight ๐
I'm going to use the level-shifter on the Crickit's NeoPixel line for something else, but I've forgotten what that something else was. ;)
Want to share some photos? :)
Well, that was another great webcast by @open girder . Make a great day everyone. Chicago signing off.
Eventually I will win the giveaway
for making a robot is better to try micropython compatible board or a ATSAMD21-like board is do just fine? considering it has to read, ultrassonic sensors, IMU unit and control 4 motors?
@fallow fractal You might be happpier with a SAMD51 board: Feather/ItsyBitsy M4
@fallow fractal If you're planning on using Micro/Circuit-Python on it, then I also agree you'd be better off with a SAMD51, ESP32, or PyBoard.
What was the discount promo code this evening?
rubylaser, I believe
Okay, I tried it with a "z" and not an "s" as someone wrote it above - thanks!!
yeah, "rubylaser" works.
Thanks!! - Yes it does!!

Good evening people !
hello!
Hello John!
Hello!
Had to hit refresh, was locked on to the DIgiikey stream
same here, every week ^^
Discord was down for me until a couple mins ago, perfect timing, hey everyone!
Sound level is excellent: peak -1db, ave -6db
talking about sound : what's the cheapest - and possibly the easiest ^^ - way to make sound with a Feather M4 Express or an Arduino ?
Voice audio peak -5db, ave -9db
Sweet - keepinโ it cool
Hey @haughty quiver you've got a bunch of fans here in the channel ^^
Crown
but i'm only an 80mm fan ๐ฎ
adafruit is live at https://www.twitch.tv/adafruit
Yep, that was good french ๐
I wish I could use those coupons on DigiKey Switzerland ^^
"shouting" level is still -4db. 'sokay.
hum.. could this mini solenoid be used like a door or treasure chest lock ?
I used this same solenoid to release a magnetic bomb from my drone. Worked great.
.oO( ... Fitting for a cryogenic suspension comes to mind ...)
jp: do you make iced coffee normally or?
bummer. .. not mini push-pull solenoid on DigiKey.ch ๐ฆ
you could have used https://www.adafruit.com/product/261 (JST PH 2-Pin Cable - Female Connector 100mm)
well, the male version actually
oh- there's a TJ that opened right next to the Adafruit HQ, within 30secs walking ๐
Fan noise isn't a distraction.

listening to that while the Adafruit IO Library built with travis was really something
inspiring, even

How would you drive the solenoid without a Crickit ?
Use a 2n2222
You could probably use any motor driver
or a MOSFET would work fine.
thanks !
or maybe a relay
Solenoids are basically electromagnets: they are made of a coil of copper wire with an armature (a slug of metal) in the middle. When the coil is energized, the slug is pulled into the ...
Great workshop today! Thanks!
Thank you @haughty quiver for another great show !
What time is that Eastern?
Thanks @inner spade for the link
Thanks John
Yet ANOTHER great show thanks John! Very clever & straightforward
Sounds like CHU Canada
thanks @eager sapphire !
i'm having a ton of fun with these, plus I'm super happy my main camera never overheated!
Thereโs a remastered version on YT thatโs quite fine
the two timings together in that song always make my head explode
Itโs a beautiful thing
Right, so now I have to bug DigiKey.ch until they carry the mini solenoid ๐
do it!
โSpent my money, took my car, started telling her friends she gonna be a starโ. <- ok thatโs some serious blues lyric there
it's a great song to perform on helium.
some international restriction might prevent them to sell that outside the U.S. though...
ok, time to go to sleep ! Thanks again guys, see you all next week !
see you @young adder
For anyone interested, this is the project I mentioned that inspired the solenoid LEGO connection: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1481744082/dadamachines-music-machines-for-everyone
@young adder the Feather M4 Express can play .wav files in CircuitPython if you want to do sampled stuff.

thank you guys @fallen rivet @odd stream I did not know about the adafruit M4 ATSAM51 boards, I have checked it out and they're really awesome
@fallow fractal The M4 boards are all quite new
@fallow fractal Cool. Yes, as @river peak says, they're all quite new.
They've been in the works since... late last year? ... and have been trickling out: Mtero, ItsyBitsy, and most recently the Feather.
Anybody know when the Adabox 8 unboxing is scheduled?
9pm EST tonight!
Great thanks
Yeah!
Hey, @haughty quiver , are you streaming on YouTube tonight?
Woo hoo!
Just click on the link at the top of this Discord chan.
Ahhh, cool, thanks
Hello all
(My situation awareness is unparalleled, since I didn't even see that, @fallow fractal ) ๐
The only one that isn't like that is Show and Tell as far as I .. can tell.
Octobox!
yas
I can't imagine how many years of work and late nights of effort led up to this release.
๐
our whole lives have led to this moment
let's do it!!!
@waxen thistle How old is Adafruit?
It's only as old as it feels!
adafruit is live at https://www.twitch.tv/adafruit
whee!
oooh, Facebook just told me Adafruit is live.... I think I'm aware of that.
Boxes within boxes!
SO MUCH
Cats love yarn.
hmmm, what's that on the shelf above his shoulder
@normal plover Which shoulder?
Right
@normal plover It's the Adabox that's he's opening. Yes, there's two in the same timeline. Ponders a few questions, doesn't it?
YES! I wanted one of those coloring books! Thank you!
@waxen thistle Shall we color you impressed?
@prime sail @river peak I'm quite surprised because this is the first arduino compatible board they made that uses a microcontroller never used by any official arduino board before
YOU get a coloring book! YOU get a coloring book!
@river peak Tickle me pink!
@fallow fractal It's Arduino-Compatible because they made it Arduino-compatible
It's really cool, though, I agree
Yeah, Crickit stickers!
ooooh
Sticker Crickit? Stickit?
they're great stickers - vinyl and die cut
Slinky?
"Spring"
Its a slinky, a fun and wonderful toy
"Stair compatible spring toy."
@river peak exactly, this is the coolest part to me
@proper trench Is it supposed to be spelled like that? ๐
Finally, I get my hand on a crickit! Thank you ๐
Sharp eye @quick veldt

@fallow fractal I presume (But @proper trench can confirm/deny) that much of the code to get the SAMD51 working was similar to the SAMD21, which certainly helps.
Another CPX! Yes.
yay CPX
I'm going to make so many projects with this Adabox
technically it's my first one! exciting
@proper trench That's probably the easiest way to get into an engineering hole. "Oh, this is the same series, that means things are the same!" narrator voice "They were not the same"
I am not Herbert. --Spok
I have to say this biscuit design is really great.
@river peak Can we get Morgan Freeman?
howdy fellow discordians
Hi
Crickit CPX is very steampunk
I really get a kick out of how JP puts the feet on.
Hey @hard hollow while you're here...check this out. http://a.co/70ObAZB Better than flashforge creator pro
Format /Codeofconduction
That servo is armed!
@quick veldt oh cool, digging that large touch screen
@proper trench @river peak it brings a new level of processing power to arduino compatible boards without force us to code in a higher level language, that is what I was looking for
fern, yes! the M4 is so roomy, circuitpython runs very well on it. and arduino is super fast. its like a supercomputer
puts thing into perspective since phones are much faster than an M4
Liquid Salt battries only
I've been very happy with the M4 metro so far, what a fully featured arduino dev board
@fallow fractal It brings a colossal amount of processing power. I'm planning on moving my DigiBadges to an M0 or M4 eventually. Currently they're on 328p chips. The numeric difference is staggering to consider
