Good evening all you wonderful people!
hi all
hello everyone!
o/
hiyo!
I see people!
hi @clear matrix !
Get jiggy with it, Noe & Pedro!
Looks crowded tonight
Wait - we're an hour early!
Hello!
Good thing I was here early or I would have missed it.
I'm not sure I'd trust this project. It seems a bit dicey
This is truly an awesome dice tool - it's exactly what Julie asked for
An occupational therapist asked Noe for it for a client
Baby needs a new pair of Lora radios. *tosses dice
callout for @river peak L)
@waxen thistle SAME
And it invariably mind controls Geordi. Just because.
You could also use it for one of those paint spinning thingys.
I'll actually be ready to demo next week. I promise (things went sideways about 10 minutes ago)
Quick, someone phone @haughty quiver to see if it actually works.
John Park's patented Flexible Faraday Cage. π
Ring ring ring ring ring ring π β
Hey Phil, I don't know if you have something planned for Ask an Engineer, but I'm sure you know Steven Hawking passed away. He's one of the few AT Users that people know about and "get". I'd love it if you passed on that we will miss him terribly and that we're grateful for the years he spent working to help us understand our world.
can't make it to hangout today, not much new anyway, unless 7 pcb layouts count π
Congrats on the Amp Hour podcast!
Hey @hard hollow and @rocky reef - Chris Young is trying to get in if you could drop out
@void widget 7! Nice!
He's in - thanks @meager current
It's sending them swiftly
Oops - I mean thanks @hard hollow
ATMakerCoin ?
@rapid hornet You must have been particularly amped up to be on there.
and the release: https://github.com/adafruit/circuitpython/releases/tag/3.0.0-alpha.3
The blockchain that actually helps people.
id love to get in if possible and if there's time
Nicely put, Chris.
Wonderful blog, Chris!

@covert stag looks great!
@covert stag Great job!
I wasa little nurvous
you did awesome!
@covert stag You did a wonderful job! Your project is coming along great!
@covert stag You did well.
Nice job, @covert stag !
Indeed, @covert stag - You did fine.
Adafruit has gone virtual!
Maybe....we're the ones who are virtual, and that world is the real world.
do i spy a vintage imac @vernal mulch
Young Sheldon?
@covert stag you are now blue by having the show and tell role!
yeah, we were talking about some ideas today
between windows update, Comcast, and my laptop freaking out im kind of amazed that I am actually on the show and tell right now.
it'll evolve
I vote for a longer show & tell.
Agreed
I vote yes as well
yeah longer and 2x a week and mayme you can only me on once a week
@lethal lagoon Beware: Your cat might come in and mute you.
I had to rush to get camera and usb audio drivers right before we started
@lethal lagoon love the python
Love the sign in the background
@lethal lagoon That is amazing!
Very 90s style?
"Just designed" like making something like that is no big deal
@covert stag Welcome to the show and tell role π
@clear matrix @split gazelle thanks! π
@glossy glacier Would a Sprengel pump be better? Or would it be too slow?
@glossy glacier Now it's artwork!
SEM modern art
@glossy glacier it's all very shiny now at least
Maybe @glossy glacier is just getting really fired up about SEMs
wink
π
@lethal lagoon that badge looks awesome! (I'm behind because I had to make a phone call.)
Every time Adam uses the word "Fun" I think of the Princess Bride.
@rapid hornet thanks! just in time for con season!
yup! I'd love one for pycon in may
@lethal lagoon Yeah for sure!
@sacred isle dose your bot count lines by user like some irc bots ?
@rapid hornet yay!
yay!
Great show everyone!
some irc bots would count how many messages you send ie lines
Why is time so tight with the S n' T broadcast?
feels sooo old
@river peak i gave MIDI a treat right before the show
@frail flame had a ton of people on
bought her silence π
lol

OK got it. No more complaints.
Great show. Thank you all you Showers and tellers..
If I buy Adafruit stuff in the UK I get it from Pimoroni.
"You can't carry a microwave with you all the time"
I like how they have the resellers for people outside the US
Is the sound having a bit of distortion for anyone else? Or is that on my end.
I want to see that proven wrong.
@river peak Sounds like a challenge!
Sound is good here
Audio is good for me, @clear matrix
@clear matrix Sounds fine to me.
I am the worst preson to ask about sound , but it seems fine
Excellent. It's on my end π
Way to go CircuitPython folks on the Alpha release. Great docs work too.
@clear matrix Hopefully that helps you end it.
lol
@clear matrix Reboot. π
@rapid hornet π
@rapid osprey thanks! trying to get it rolling
And succeeding @rapid hornet and team
I always want to move faster
You'd fit in well here. π
that usb stuff had me cranky. thought we were through it
usb - the gift that keeps giving
π
yeah, that and concurrency in general
Love concurrency. Keeps us on our toes.
O-rings can cause all sorts of problems.
Aye, Andon. Ask NASA.
I sorta wish the sticker was a badge so I could sew it to my project
I swear half of the problems with my scope are o ring related
Bother.. I meant to try to get onto show&tell... life gets in the way.
@odd stream it was a crazy huge show this week anyway.
@odd stream It was super packed
Those darn O rings.
Anyone here who has not won the call in contest?
β€ Adafruit, LadyAda and making things
omg that letter is amazing
Cool.
I was always told , the boy stuff girl stuff as a kid as well
My favorite story is LadyAda's fan with the little girl who asked, "can boys be engineers, too?"
Cordless drills are awesome.
Until they run out of battery.
down with cordless drills! </sarcasm>
And then you get a new battery and continue going!
Thanks so much for doing it, it's the highlight of my Wednesday.
I only found out about Adafruit last year, never wanted to hide that I was a nerd, even in 7th grade, because it's never been frowned upon in any location I've lived. At most, I was accused of bypassing school network restrictions.
love!
So many good stories inspired/enabled by @open girder & @proper trench
@odd stream Only when charged
^^^ desperately needs an M4-based Feather for his robots. #OutOfMemory
@analog acorn on 3.0 too?
Did you know that Isaac Newton was born on December 25th? Neil DeGrasse Tyson accidentally started some controversy by saying something about it a couple of years ago.
Yep. Feather M0 Express, latest build, and libraries in .mpy format. Can't run the motor featherwing at the same time as reading data from an SR-04. @rapid hornet
I'm definitely getting a few copies of "S is for Space"!
adafruit is live at https://www.twitch.tv/adafruit
@analog acorn bummer. we're working on it π
or let us know how many are on it
@rapid hornet I'm sorry if I sounded like I was nagging. Just saying I'm anxious. π Not implying you should hurry....
@analog acorn We know π It's all good
On the topic Adafruit is now discussing, Limor Fried actually received an award as one of the emerging few female makers.
@analog acorn folks are working on it
@analog acorn You might need to remind them, since they keep running out of memory.
"Solutions for People" FTW
I love engineers, they like to fix things that are not yet 'broke'
and break things to fix them better
@covert stag They break things just to find out how they work
that to
I do not have the mindset of an engineer. I developed a secondary Windows login manager in 7th grade, and when I lost the files, I didn't bother to make it again (because of the complex config)
they also are some of the few that spell worse then me....
Doesn't everybody take things apart to see how they work and to scrap parts?
Yesssss!!!
I started disassembling at age 6. Reassembling started at age 8
@flint swallow Sadly, not everybody. It worries me that people don't always have inquiring minds.
Guide collection is growing fast!
My mother tells a story of me taking apart a vacuum cleaner when I was... 4? And reassembling it, too. Mostly-correctly. It was backwards and functioned as a leafblower
What's so cool is that the guides are self-contained, clear, and so valuable.
@lavish patrol At least there's a community that does.
It's all about curiosity.
I don't even remember it. I do remember that pretty much every R/C car/truck/robot/whatever ended up disassembled eventually
Those leaves were blown away with your engineering potential, @river peak π
I pulled a vacuum cleaner apart once. Then accidentally zapped myself. π³

yay @odd stream !
I was 5 when I used scissors on the power cord of my Beanie and Cecil record player
The house went black
i'm going to be diving into that 555 guide @odd stream
Is the US on summer time already?
@frail flame How shocking.
When my family's portable DVD player from 2011 broke just a week ago, I tried fixing it, and failed. It had to be held at a certain angle to work, and a button on it had to be held down to continue watching the movie. My family told me that that wasn't considered working, threw the thing away, and I scrapped the TFT display, which I cannot find a driver for.
@lavish patrol As of sunday.
For some reason no shock to me
@river peak That's whay they are an hour earlier for me this week.
I'm going to use that tiny display as part of a portable smart mirror project.
"wasn't considered working," <-- Great
that is amaving soldering
It didn't matter to me whether they considered it working or not. We don't have another disc player in the house. My brother threw our Xbox One, so it can't read discs.
Next week we'll have the Moon in these sunset shots again.
Cool!
I will take a balloon and go to the moon and speak walloon while I play the bassoon.
Moon balloon.
Moon baboon.
@lavish patrol Make me swoon'
What did they say that the 3.5mm jack did on the project? I didn't catch what they said.
great video!!!
@pearl shoal The jack used by most AT stuff is 1/4" right?
1/8"
AT?
assistive tech
the 3.5 jacl allowed for the controlling signal to come from another device. Right?
TRS plug
@flint swallow I think it was for an external switch, like a foot pedal for disabled people.
yes
@flint swallow Stuff designed for people without full motor functions.
Oh, that's kind of cool

IE, the "Big Mag" is a button that's something like 6" in diameter, so someone that can't necessarily use their fingers or hands well can hit it. That's tied to the jack that can be put into things like that spinner
HDMI Cable - 1 meter - Official Raspberry Pi https://www.adafruit.com/product/608

Why is there an official Raspberry Pi HDMI cable? Any HDMI cable will work.
Toolshed Journal - by Lee John Phillips https://www.adafruit.com/product/3756
A bayonet plug.
Nice set - Toolshed Coloring Book and Journal!
@flint swallow Branded things let you support that company with more than just the primary things they sell. Someone might only need one Pi, but they can buy Pi-official stuff and support the Pi foundation with that sort of thing as well

Transform paper into light! This Electric Paint Lamp Kit gives you the choice of three uniquely cool paper lamps.What's thatΒ you say? Tools? Programming? We don't need no ...
I've seen people electro-plate using conductive ink as a backer, @lavish patrol
So conductive filament wouldn't be that much of a jump.
I hope the Pi Zero stays in stock at least until the end of tomorrow. Whenever I have the money to spend, it never seems to be available
@river peak That's what I thought. It would be cool.

I'm putting together parts and starting planning to build an alarm clock that has variable tone as I have severe high frequency hearing loss....the idea is someone with hearing loss can adjust it to a frequency they hear well....
@covert stag You too, huh? My right ear is nonfunctional.
@devout blade That's cool!

nice book design
that looks like an axe
nice silk
Here be dragons.
This adapter is awesome!
Yeah....my right ear is a lot worse than my left....I have an appointment with my audiologist next week to give me a full hearing test...think I need the earpieces in my hearing aids upgraded
yeah, @low fractal did the awesome silkscreen
So cool!
@rapid hornet Fitting, really.
totally
watch the skies, traveler
all I can think of is heavy meatal atm , I love it
My left ear is so sensitive I can here bats. 14kHz last time I checked it. For a 60YO that's not too bad.
wat - that's nuts @lavish patrol
Thatβs brilliant to include rail pins
@split gazelle correct
Raspberry Pi FTW.
Raspberry Pi 3 - Model B+ - 1.4GHz Cortex-A53 with 1GB RAM https://www.adafruit.com/product/3775
nice... the 3 B+ has that crazy new antenna that's in the Zero W
although it looks like some extra bits for 5 GHz
the last image on the product page clearly shows it on the left
Itβs a really nice update
Very cool. What did you use to measure the thermal properties?
@pallid bluff @lethal lagoon did a badge for show and tell!
thermal throttling, mutch better then magic blue smoke
Hadnβt heard about the thermal change- thatβs great!
@rapid hornet : oh man, I'll have to go back and check it out!
I just got back. Have they started the Q&A section yet?
@pallid bluff omg hi! i made a badge totally inspired by your amazing badge! π
π
@lethal lagoon Your badge looked cool.
@lavish patrol thanks!!! π
Oh foo. My boss came by and wanted to talk, so I missed most of New Products.
The wheel was a good invention
Especially when version 2.0 of the wheel came out: Round
True
π
Although it has been a while. Maybe someone needs to put a new spin on it
Question: will there be a quantity-per-order limit on the Pi 3 B+?
Questions: Where is 3d hangots streamed?
Will there be a guide for pi 3 b+ PoE?
On average, how many guides do you make per week?
Iβm sure someone will get βround to it
@analog acorn they said they would limit
Yeah missed it. Work intruded. Thanks, @frail flame
I wonder when the axle came about?
I asked about the sheet of Flora's the other day, I know you probly don't have one handy, but could you share how many are on a full sheet?
What kind of POE is it 30watts or 15.4 Watt?
I can't hear your Python but it's been singing for the entire show.
Can you power two 7-segment backpack displays with one Arduino Uno?
@fallow fractal lololol just noticed that
I figured
COMMENT: Just so you know, the checkbox for python doesn't work on adafruitdaily.com
I like that you test everything
thx
@covert stag Did you mean actual Floras or the Flora NeoPixels?
What do u use to host the adafruit website?
the actual microcontroller
thanks @versed mountain !
What type of TFT displays do most portable DVD players use, and can I just buy a 40-pin driver to work with it?
@plain spruce just set different i2c addresses for each
@covert stag Nevermind, I realised there's already sheets of the NeoPIxels, we talked about this π Ignore me.
@rapid hornet YW
needs to start drafting this week's newsletter
@strange mantle thx
I've looked up every bit of information on it, and no information regarding the pinout comes up, only eBay results for the full product
ohm-bit-stab
@clear matrix Wait, sheets of neopixels? What sort of magic is this?
Coffee @ 9pm is a bad idea.
@waxen thistle The Flora sewable neopixels come in sheets!
@flint swallow Something like this might work: https://www.adafruit.com/product/2218
Talk to the singing python.

ahh! the suspense!
@clear matrix That is awesome
The ON AIR light is OFF, Phil!
Thank you π
those are fun
What have we been watching then
I haven't paid my phone bill in 3 months, it will be a while until I can attempt to call in for one of these
They always seem surprised that they won. /boggle
I am so glad I got the sheet of pixels
@eager sapphire looks like the twitch api is down
I got a strip of DotStars <- even more blinding than NeoPixels!
@clear matrix I have this urge to wire them wile on the sheet
@strange mantle Thank you so much!
@analog acorn It was a real bright idea, I guess?
@analog acorn what's the main difference between dotstar and neopixel?
happy wednesday pi day everyone!
Thanks and good night.
I love that Wired cover
Likewise @lethal lagoon , and nice work on S&T tonight too
@brave spire Timing, and control method. DotStars are super-quick.
Thank you Limor and PT and Adafruit Team! Happy #PiDay
Thanks, @lethal lagoon π
thanks @river peak
thanks @matamble π
The timing requirements on the DotStars is not as stringent as NeoPixels, so you can very easily drive them from a Raspberry Pi, for example.
they are @analog acorn ?
I'm going to buy a magnifying glass to see if there's 40 pins on my TFT, and if so, I'll try my luck with an Adafruit driver.
Thanks everyone for being here!
Yes! They're amazing.
oops i meant thanks @eager sapphire
@brave spire https://learn.adafruit.com/adafruit-dotstar-leds/overview <-- has some comparison info
Thank you for broadcasting, Adafruit. Enjoyed the show very much.
thats epic!
thanks @strange mantle
yay kamui cosplay! so amazing!!! she's been working on that for months and it's awesome!

Thanks for another great show.
Thanks @open girder.
thanks for everything @pearl portal !!!
Thanks @open girder
Grerat show. Some very exciting products this week.
Great music
@split gazelle That's awesome
Thanks!
...and wow get some SLEEP huh?
Sleep? Pffff
night all, its time to get a little sun and then make lasagna
Have a good one @rapid hornet
Nice combo, Scott - enjoy
@rapid hornet Show off the lasagna next week on Show and Tell!
Wait. It probably won't be good by then.
@waxen thistle i know! it's insane!
@waxen thistle Daylight Savings does weird things
ladyada looked super happy today :)
cant help but make you happy aswell
@waxen thistle thats why I have to go soak it up
this morning i asked Alexa if it was going to rain and she replied, "why do you keep torturing yourself with hope?"
i mean basically
Better hurry, @rapid hornet , clouds moving in from the SE...
btw i see an html error in the adafruitdaily page for the python check box... there's a missing equals sign on the "for" attribute of the label
changing that with developer tools make it checkable again
@lethal lagoon At least your alexa doesn't laugh in the middle of the night.
Hmmmm, stay here for a few hours and teach myself KiCad, or go home for the evening. Methinks I'll stay and KiCad.
@waxen thistle probably because she's too depressed about the weather π
Seriously, she did that a few days ago -- creeped me out. I was half dozing off and i hear laughter on my night stand and the ring lit up.
@analog acorn don't forget dinner!
I was like.....brb Alexa, gotta perform an exorcism
@waxen thistle oh it happened to you?! i heard about it but didn't hear anything out of mine
scary!
The power of binary compels you!
it's hard to tell if her head spins around, she's too cylindrical
I mean, mine activates randomly rather frequently -- i could be sitting reading a book, and it just reports sports scores. Uhhhhhh.....thanks?
maybe you could 3D print a little head for her so you can tell
If Alexa automatically places an order for pea soup, watch out.
ours hears questions in movies but she doesn't activate in complete silence, or hasn't yet
my alexa ordered something by herself once
but it turned out i needed one anyway so i kept it π
Home Assistants with dementia.
Or they're gaining real intelligence.
....wait, am i speaking to Sophy or Alexa pretending to be Sophy? HA! Gotcha!
I got a dot over a year ago as a test platform for connecting it to feathers -- and although that project was shelved for the time being, I mostly use the Alexa ecosystem as a really swell alarm clock + timer + weather vane.
@lethal lagoon I won't forget dinner! Going to order Chinese at the office....
The new "play the same music across multiple Echos" feature is rather nifty, but only if you play from their approved list of music providers. I can't stream from my own sources or library.
oh i didnt know about that limitation
i think it's weird to talk to one echo and hear like 3 of them answer back from different rooms
i only have one echo and one dot but i can imagine
@analog acorn nice! MIDI is reminding me she needs dinner too, so i'm off to obey
@lethal lagoon : just saw your badge. very cool! π
@pallid bluff oh thanks! i'll show you in person next time i see you π
sounds good!
goodnight all! fun hanging out as always!
o/
Best night of the week. take care everyone.
yep, bye y'alls
I'm the dude that won π I'm seriously geeking out
@polar oxide Congrats!!
Thanks! π
I feel a little bad for the guys at Adafruit, shipping the journal all the way to jolly old England XD
I think if they were worried about it they would make it US only, thef did not , so you are good.
Oh I'm not worried, I just hate to make things complicated ^_^
LOL @polar oxide the guy who illustrated the Tool Shed journal is in England.
@polar oxide what'd you win? Didn't watch the stream, now I'm curious
Neat right?
π
That is neat
Fancy too, i feel like I should 'save' it for when I'm working on big projects
Like i don't wanna waste a page on my "screaming surprise box" design
Not worth it

David Saville?
yea, TalkBoy from Home Alone 2, i think? It was a little audio recorder with similar effects.

thats some crazy static :-X
music
Quite a bit better now

wow crazy look at them go
can you pick up WWV?
The video transmitters for my mini quads run on 5.8 mhz
Correction, the transmitters actually run at 5.8 ghz
Yet another fine show, thanks John
Very interesting! Thanks!
strange. the link worked from discord. but 404ed from youtube chat.
thanks for the stream π
Used to DX AM international shortwave bands as a kid. Finding pirate rock stations at night was fun.
@inner spade between you and @eager sapphire and probably a few other radio gurus here, I'm sure you could do a master class on SDR!
thanks @lethal lagoon !
weird @manic sun ...
Hope to get back into it soon.
I tuned in normal John Park Workshop time and no show and seems it was already
@hard hollow now i'll be on the hunt for a TalkBoy :)
Don't forget, your 10% off discount code today is NESSMAN

Oh???? you fly too???
well we have one, and i've flown it a bit, but i'm not an expert or anything π
it's fun to play with in the park by my house, and so crazy to see video from up so high
we took it to palm springs last year and flew it in the desert a bit, which was amazing
Oh very cool!!
This is my psychotic flying lol

i love the goggles for that, so sci fi
or headset or whatever you call them π
they go by both hahaha.
youre freaking me out with those power lines π
actually it's all terrifying haha
Hahaha yeah i shouldnt have gone so close to them lol.
@lean grail You should try to fly under a car at some point.
Maybe a truck would do better.
lol. one day when i get better
From what I can tell, it looks like the drone can fit.
oh it definitely would
There was a vid I saw a while back - A bunch of people took over an old abandoned mall, set it up as an awesome FPV drone racing track
That was super cool to watch
what JOhn did?
@river peak @lethal lagoon here's my little baby one. https://photos.app.goo.gl/K3JmTaJFhQ5lriCm1
@shell mason Hi! @haughty quiver was showing some cool software defined radio experiments
oh no! that dst is so tricky
also day was not so enjoyable so would have being some cheering from the stream
I ushaly miss it because I am in the lab
aw bummer @shell mason sorry to hear that
i usually miss the live streams too due to work but im making my own hours now so glad i get to catch them more often

is there any trick for getting Cura's supports to not leave huge marks on the bottom of the model?
Nice work, @split gazelle !
@eager sapphire thanks!
thanks for watching folks!
Always a highlight to a Wednesday morning, thanks dudes
nooo I missed it
More coffee needed : )
I wanted to ask if I could use the actuator from something they have on thingiverse
I was playing maps
S&T soon. I wonder who I'll see showing today.
Hi, all.
good evening everyone!
Good evening @split gazelle
Good evening all you wonderful people!
Certainly @waxen thistle π
hiya!!
hello @gaunt plume
Looks like we're making π s here.
'evening 'all
We are very handy, @river peak
I wont be showing it in showandtell live, but I posted a big robot I'm working on in #show-and-tell last night
π π π π
Is it a "Big" robot or is it a "GIANT" robot?
not giant, unfortunately π
That's the next one, right?
@odd stream Some of us are odd...
probably not, it's only for a lab mouse so it can't be too large
Some...? *totally not odd, nuh uh.
Well, if it was for a lab rat on the other hand...
S&T is go for launch...
50%
Basil?
anyone need the link?
heyo!

zelda is just fine without link π
same
ok
@rapid hornet Link just brings problems, I've heard.
evening peoples!!
Hello everyone!
There's still plenty of space it looks like.
Hello!
Breaks time, wears masks, and destroys clay pots....
If you ever think Link is out to get you, fill your entryway with clay pots. It'll both alert you to his presence, and give you time to escape.
The pivot point hinge is very cool!
i love how simple it is, definitely want to make it
I was thinking of getting on this week.. maybe next time.. I want to print an enclosure and have my logic probe really finished.
Didn't want to spring for a spring?
@odd stream there is room!
It'll have to be next time for me as well, I came down with a bad sore throat today
@odd stream Shape the enclosure like an alien.
feel better @mild venture !
My daughter and I would be happy to show off her touch pad light that replaced a toggle switch
Audio stuff is a sound thing to work on.
π
the oven returns!
oh there we go! been waiting for an update on this toaster oven
hello all!
hi JP!
@split gazelle That sounds like a comedy/horror movie
hi JP
Howdy!

I hope mine comes tomorrow
woah, that's a large piece of heatsink
Pretty hot.
Clearly.
ohh i like the clear
yes, it's neat stuff @split gazelle !
Could someone please work out how to put those thumbnails at the top of the screen instead of the bottom.
@lavish patrol thats a hangouts thing that we can't change
we should have a mime for raise your project
lol
ATMakers road trip!
i just drove thru sacramento today
I'll vote for that. π
how much did the adabox cost?
is make code a microsoft thing?
yes, open source, uses Blockly as GUI
but not for mac?
very cool
oh, runs on all os in browser
@haughty quiver Horrible idea, but if you want water-proof the gemma, you could possibly cover it with a silicon putty or anlother similar compound and just leave the USB plugged in .
@alpine nova It's made by Microsoft but runs on everything.
Works excellent on MacOS....criminally easy to use.
really @waxen thistle - that's intriguing
Man, that is awesome!
@green burrow I shouldn't have used the word water proof -- was just making it a bit more rugged and insulated.
MORE WIRES
super easy to use so your kids can learn coding and making stuff
i am my own kid
@alpine nova try it out! there's a simulator for a circuit playground built-into it https://makecode.adafruit.com/
coding is not my superstrength and i haven't moved as fast with circuitpy as i hoped
cool, thanks @gaunt plume ]
amazing work @pearl shoal!!
no problem!
@alpine nova MakeCode is obviously different than CircuitPython, but it teaches you all of the concepts of coding, structures and so on, so it could be super helpful to you. π
ooh nice!
I like Lon's ATOM button!
Oooh fancy
@clear matrix , i've done basic coding for years and years, but don't completely understand everything i'm doing, so gui stuff is always desirable
oh vase mode is awesome
Nice.
@alpine nova Sounds like it might be great then!
The ray gun may get dlc for particles....
vs code is the best editor, if you mean atom as in the editor @gaunt plume
You are going to scare me from 3D printing
Internet of Boxes
box of internet
IOB Like it
Boxes all the way down.
yes - I wanted to see this switcher
@clear matrix i hope so
@waxen thistle With turtles in them?
BRB button FTW
i would just short the brb button
Bbq button?
oh i just tried to rewind and um yeah it's live π
cardboard, masking tape, felt pen - ship it!
i really want to get python, but can't focus on it long enough to really get somewhere before i get distracted with more pressing things
My BRB button seems to be stuck
yup that's a winner
@alpine nova Yes, it's a single minded thing. Get distracted and you have to start again.
oh binder clip ftw
π―
I'll have to remember that spring trick
Super simple. Super effective
The spring trick is awesome!
this binder is shweet
@lavish patrol my biggest challenge - not getting distracted
lol \
good job!
I love that llight and I love the touch
yea, that is great project
very cool! are those both conductive fabrics?
ATMakers Green!
oh great job! cool project
ah, foil, excellent
yes i love foam!
great job @whole quail !
@haughty quiver Until your plans are involved.
great work @whole quail & engineer!
Bright lights
waaay better
To be fair, most things are better than what they sell at the Disney store.
Billy does not have a good interwebs connection.
thats sad as well
reminds me of deadmau5
Billy are you in here?
same @split gazelle
yes, @split gazelle it does
I'm going to fourth that, @split gazelle
ghosts and stuff π»
more like deadmau5 than mickey
Grim grinning robots, come out to socialize....
@rapid hornet i am
yay! love the ears @radiant wharf
thanks! π
@radiant wharf Sparkles are the best π
What is this cosmo Danon speaks of?
Great job guys!
Thanks everyone! Great job!
yes love those ears @radiant wharf
@covert stag that happened didn'[t it?
and you are blue now too @radiant wharf
great projects everyone!
(i feel silly i dont know what a cosmo is)

it's a beverage, right?
@lethal lagoon I have no idea either!
you can't say the drinks you have at happy hour
it looked really cool and now i'm so curious
"I'm sure everyone knows what a cosmo is" -- um, nooo....
@alpine nova The bot's not smart enough to deal with words that contain other words.
Tomorrow may be a good day to look for a Cozmo set at your local Toys R Us, as a lot of the liquidations begin. ; (
ahhh
Please tell us what a cosmo is.
stupid bot
aha with a z
@lethal lagoon ^^
oh a z
fish tacos and AAE. wednesdays are swell...
@haughty quiver Thanks for clearing that up... we were floundering there.
it's like the selphi (sp?)
you are welcome to forget to turn of the code for a few hours. some of us take that long to go shopping
hello everyboday
Ahh. Thanks @haughty quiver. I'll check it out.

@open girder Spinal Tap disagrees. 11!

it was started by some Carnegie Mellon robotics people, first as the Anki Overdrive, which is a sort of rc racetrack CarWars game.
It's A CircuitPython World.
The Cozmo looks cool because it's got this whole Python SDK and I believe is open source.
Say "That again"?
Cozmo looks like a micro bobcat.
that's why i feel i need to learn circuit py
@lavish patrol I'd rather have a full sized bobcat.
"Dude." Whats mine say?
Either the animal or the vehicle.
@river peak The vehicle.
I wouldn't mind a large cat, either.
assisted tech is something im going to focus on. some things people need are easy for many makers
wow, the Cozmo can detect faces: http://cozmosdk.anki.com/docs/generated/cozmo.faces.html

@haughty quiver brilliantly creepy technology
adafruit is live at https://www.twitch.tv/adafruit
@lavish patrol You can actually have a bobcat as a pet in some places
haha. just noticed Blinka in the background. Looks like she's hitting the crescendo in an opera.
im wondering if doing a "show and tell" but using fastLED lib and not ADA's libs is a nono.
Then again, there's Cosima:
The original Calculon
Super excited for PyCon!
@slow flint do it! I doubt anyone will mind if you're using Adafruit products/libraries or not.
is pycon in ny?
It's in Cleveland OH this year.
haha. that's classic.
also waiting for my wife to finish a layout sheet for routing wires before putting on protoboards. my show and tell would most likely be 5 projects and her sheet in a 2 min or less presentation.
@slow flint 5 weeks of presentations, one for each project
Blinka love!
squeeeeze stuff
fruitpiano???
π₯
blinka with big ole 1970's headphones
blinka should dj with @haughty quiver 's pizza box controller
@eternal vapor in NY, exciting!
Do you see any issues with stacking the following: 1) Feather MO Adalogger, 2) FeatherWing OLED 128x32 , DS3231 Precision RTC FeatherWing and miscellaneous sensors?
@split gazelle Agreed
can one dj without hands?
yes
She'll DJ with her tail.
yes she can use her sassy tail
ok then
i used to DJ with my feet when i didint want to get up to my kit
886!?
i should vj with my feet
My dad designed Mr. Rogers logo!
dont know if blinka can do double backspins and hard crossfades easy. i would like to see that
i have a book of his quotes that i definitely recommend
@split gazelle Do you have a title/link for it?
@river peak can't be hard to find really!
my favorite was when he changed his shoes
#1 hero
i got goosebumps
im having feelings
happy birthday mr rogers
I used to walk by his condo every day on my way to school in Pittsburgh.
@alpine nova same here. he was an amazing human being.
All the feels. He was a huge part of my childhood.
@fallen rivet you were his neighbor!!
lol
@clear matrix me too
i am my cats puppet. she kept trying to make ME move for her all day
well, I couldn't afford to live in his neighborhood π !

He lived right off of the edge of the CMU campus.
@slow flint what part of cat don't you understand haha
when bre pettis and i both lived in seattle, wa and he was an art teacher, i had hired him at MAKE to work on the videos with me since he reminded me a lot mr. rogers (he did puppets too)
this was 1 million years before makerbot
wow @open girder
wife kept telling me that @alpine nova
LEDs are a truly bright idea
haha
BOOM!
definitely want to go to that
Me as well
@split gazelle I'm thinking I'll go
USB footswitch thingie
@rapid hornet nice!
@rapid hornet NYC Maker Faire is the weekend before, too
@lethal lagoon's amazing badge!
does adafruit carry hidden ink?
@alpine nova Yes, but you have to find it first.
@lethal lagoon I agree with kattni. that thing is beautiful!
ah thanks @clear matrix and @muted mesa π
ha
@river peak I was considering skipping maker faire in favor of OSH summit
love the music π
yes, and the slurp SFX
that's way cooler than an amish fireplace
Maybe could stretch it out. Maker Faire is Sat/Sun, summit is on Thursday. It'd be a busy week, but you'd have a few touristy days in there too
nah, I'm ok missing it. I went the last two years
can't be away from home and circuitpython that long
oh man

ah, the lead-free nutella
haha i was just thinking that it was making me hungry
i bring a CP to work with me, sometimes i have modified versions of the demo code running and people stop and stare at it
m4!

What do Adafruit do with their worn out stencils? I reckon you could turn one into a lamp by backlighting it.
should I wait on getting one then ?
well I still have to save for my next order anyway
