Any esp32wrover feather on the way?
We got an unofficial yes @ocean musk
Where's tonyD ?
What the distance onο»Ώ the Adafruit APDS9960
Does the gif camera need wifi?
We should have blade runner type projects or popular science fiction movies.
@dark crane tony d is on a hike
wrover is 32mb storage and 32mb ram
got a link @versed karma ?
i'd guess you could use it for an IoT mailbox sensor
@ocean musk what are you making that needs mega levels of sensors?

@rapid hornet https://dl.espressif.com/doc/esp-idf/latest/hw-reference/modules-and-boards.html wrover module
@lament flume trying to replicate this http://vtol.cc/filter/works/motorgan
If you could create a position within the company, at no cost to you, what would be the job description?
Ohm - bit - stab
is it a full TriCorder?
yay grats!
@ocean musk try multiplexing inputs for that project
Canada!
Wohoo canadians are taking ovahh
@versed karma thanks! I've seen the psram discussion on micropython's forums
silent curtains?
Wave your hand and the curtain goes
I ordered a wrover board/kit from analoglamb just to give it a try but of course I'd rather go with a feather if/when available.

Bye!
bye all!

Ok, so I am still out here in my shop and I really want to get this vacuum leak fixed. Electron Microscope live stream starting soon!
TTFN
A Vacuum leak? That sucks.
Think I just figured out who would be thumbing down the show on youtube - the random chatters with naughty icons, probably.
Ok
@river peak Oh yeah. This one is not big enough to do compresed air testing either.... It is a minor one, but big enough to be a no go on runing the SEM.
That was fun even though I dropped in at 8:40
that blows...
@rapid hornet yeah, this "loboris" person (you've probably seen it if you've been looking at the psram discussions) has built up quite a bit more of the esp32 port for it. Glad to see that RTC is in there because not having it in the main builds has been killing me.
@glossy glacier Is it in relation to the cleaning you did the other day?
No, I have the scan colum capped off right now, so it is in the valve assembly.
@versed karma nice! its on my radar but we're focused on the SAMD21 and SAMD51 at the moment
there were naughty icons?
You gotta squint a bit
ok, I gotta run! bye all
Does anyone have a preferred Android BLE Heart Monitor App for their phone. H Band looks unusable.
hmm i didnt get any questions and what was a giveaway
for me ask for engineer stopped in new new new secment
Has anyone installed the discord on Linux mint (mate) 18.1 64bit?
@steady fox I installed on Ubuntu 16.04 with a cinnamon desktop
i think i uninstall discord to my main pc as well
i didnt get notification from this channel for new messages and i have recently get new notification when my i was last write a message and it was scrolled up
@ocean musk That foot pedal -- do you already have it, or is it on the way?
(apologies if you answered that question earlier, I didn't see it above...been out for most of the evening)
ok so when i get ask of engineer feed it was behind already and it ended when phil ended the stream but as it was delayed it never catched up to the end
what comes to discord it seems that why it wasnt showing new messages to this channel was that i had discord open on this channel in pc as i was looking from laptop browser
@waxen thistle i got it
@ocean musk what do you think of it? Is it a stiff or softer actuation? Noisy? Would you get it again?
@waxen thistle its fairly quiet and doesnt have that forceful click like a sewing machine pedal. Its built quite well for the price and also has lots of room inside box for fitting other stuff. Or even designing a taller lid to fit stuff in.
@ocean musk how is the hunt for foodpedal?
@shell mason i think im going to just use the pedal action for shutter trigger, maybe put in a momentary lever on top or something if focus needed. Most time if doing overhead the focus is set to manual anyway
@haughty quiver any sneak peeks on what todays show will be?
Yes @ocean musk it'll be a bit of a toy hack/mod...
awesome!
so hack and mod in the today Workshop plate @haughty quiver
same time as last week your show @haughty quiver
Yes, thanks, it'll be hacking and modding at 1pm PST / 4pm EST / 20 UTC
@Stuff With Kirby#8486 Did you decide to use that particular pedal, or a different one than the "TEMCO HEAVY DUTY FOOT SWITCH CN0003 - 1 QTY CAST ALUMINUM 15A SPDT ELECTRIC PEDAL MOMENTARY"
Timezones are so confusing, I took a straw poll of my family and asked each of them what timezone we are in, everyone answered GMT
But currently we are in IST
think if they answered our timezone
So when someone is organising something and wants to let people in london/Dublin what time it's at, they nearly need to incorrectly use GMT
You're in Finland @shell mason ?
yeah
I think yours is CET is it? Same as Berlin/Paris etc
+2 from UK
now in +3 UTC
so it's always +2 from UK time
Cool, didn't know that!
when you switch the sametime
from summer time to winter time
Sweden is -1 from Finland time
if it helps you guys @lament flume @shell mason I'll keep including UTC when I post times
it helps
K! P.S. I have no idea when it switched from GMT to UTC.
(testing chat setup)
i heard that.
I heard that too.
(whad ya hear?)
(because I'm singing Vulfpeck songs to myself and my mic is on, even thought I'm not broadcasting yet. I think.)
I'll be live in 5 minutes.
I heard the oscar mayer weiner song
adafruit is live at https://www.twitch.tv/adafruit
John Park's Workshop - LIVE 9/7/17 Toy Hacking Nightlight @adafruit @johnedgarpark #adafruit
YouTube is good!
audio good
Sounds great on YouTube
thx
the code part I think some layout to it @haughty quiver can add chat to side like @hard hollow and @rocky reef have in 3D hangout
@lament flume have you done projects like John is doing?
nice sketch diagram there
Pico Projector was cool but the parts of it or making wearable project with that would be nice
I use blue painter's tape a lot to secure the pcb to the work surface. Usually no vice.
... or vise.
soft tactile?
Adafruit: doο»Ώ you have any EEG (electroencephalogram brain activity) solutions?
test
Yep
working fine
I'm just after finishing playing soccer @shell mason so I'm not watching yet
I think he mentioned that he was modifying a toy
It's on my todo list π
@haughty quiver is hacking and modifying nightlight turtle
internal pullup is 20k. would guess that 200 ohm should cause a digital low = 33mV
-ish
can you measure voltage when powered?
on switch input?
it's all good, JP - hard to do live, but is good example of iterative thought process. that's valuable for us.
sparky!

@haughty quiver have earned
badge @open girder
...and, he has actual witnesses
Not a bust. I found it most educational.
worthwhile. thanks JP.
Sometimes the carbon layer is worn off on those switches
But usually show up 'jumpy' on a meter
carbon dots inside hit pads on pcb
Yeah, and lay down more carbon from the pencil lead end
you need a "fail" prop
That's a fine solution, really
agreed on the educational, its nice to see folks working through the problems etc.
Can you non-destructively take apart that switch?
Really curious about the mechanics
Looks like the carbon dot solution
(Sounds like a Sherlock Holmes story)
Clean them with alcohol
?
Or would that remove the carbon
just tack on some regular tactile swithches
Could the switches each provide a different voltage?
clicky
Thanks Mr Park, I liked watching the reversing engineering. Hope you do some more vids where you mod stuff. Good luck finishing this project off
It really is helpful to see the iterative process in these videos, much is picked up
I second Matambale
switches change
use capacitive pin approach?
Great show, again, @haughty quiver , thank you
Time well spent. Thanks John.
you're very welcome all!
π
must resist urge to keep hacking on this when I've got my Adabox 005 project to document!
good luck with that!
i took a long look at your 'cluttered workshop' view to see if there were any 005 hints/clues
sadly, no
007 the bond look @inner spade
haha! I think there are, but very difficult to gain much insight with those ; )
we are number one
I watched the first few minutes of the stream back and I'm really curious how it will turn out (I have the spoiler alert of the
though! )
I got to the pro trinket breadboard part but I need to go to bed
I think @shell mason what you might be thinking of is I did hack lights for my daughter but there were more like Christmas lights than a toy like this
But what I would like to do is modify a toy to allow my daughter to be able to control the lights
@lament flume I was thinking your RC cars
cool @lament flume the breadboarded part worked well -- but stay tuned for me to get snagged by resistive touch buttons!
I think I'll continue it next week
@lament flume like having lights in those cars
Very envious of that helping hand/ solder stand from JP's stream last night
ah now he's using Blu-tack, more on my level π
only about 16 hours late, but not too much @haughty quiver , I think its been mentioned but I added an ESP8266 to a toy car at weekend . I also plan to modify a toy to enable my daughter to control a set of lights in her room (just need to find a nice sacrifcial toy π )
Ikea light
not at the moment @shell mason they are hopefully for wedding (If I can get them done in time), but i should have maybe 10 of the spare afterwards so she can definitly have a few π
I gotta make myself one of those scene changer devices for streams!
I need one of those too
as i want to get more cameras
I shot and uploaded unboxing video yesterday
oh cool
so it would be easier for even livestream
Do you upload in Finnish? (is that even the right word for the language of Finland)
You should post one of the videos in the #show-and-tell
I have a Logitech webcam is my main camera that i use (C920) what i really like about it is it has a mount point for a tripod adapter
Sometimes i borrow my C910 from work if i need a second camera
I am looking portable option what have Intel Realsense
as I could add gesture control as well
Microsoft have this Project Prague where you can add custom gestures
so lets say you do a gesture with 2 hands like showing and saying it put overlay between your hands
that tech need depth supported camera
I would have thought @inner spade is correct in terms of once the resistince of the button was less than the pullup it would still work as expected
Nice tip on the rubbing alcahol on the hot glue
Well correction, not less, it would become a voltage divider, but the values of the resisors in the divider would have it measuting on a couple of mV on the pin which would surely be enough to pull it down
@haughty quiver I guess maybe a next step would be measure the voltage on the input pin with and without pressing the button, but maybe it is bouncing like crazy though so it might not help
That's what I was going to suggest to @haughty quiver, @lament flume - you beat me to it. I would definitely measure the voltages on coming through the buttons to determine the path forward. I would also suggest measuring at the button itself and then at the pin (to isolate the wiring).
thanks @lament flume and @analog acorn great ideas, I'll give them a try.
Matrix would helps for those buttons
like a keypad @shell mason
I was just glad the
was only an LED π
I was fearing the worst for the little turtle
when @haughty quiver become a Neo from Matrix
;)
@lament flume I actually now realize I don't think I smoked that LED -- I just temporarily lit it up via a short... gotta fish it outta the trash and see.

wondering what works on electircal contacts to refresh surface.
I assume it would be same for old push wire contacts as it would be for contacts in a DSLR camera. My camera focus electricl contacts seem to be flaky.
@vast hornet Sometimes just a pencil eraser will do it.
thanks
@haughty quiver what was the deal with the starry night turtle switches? are they wired like SIP resistors with a common ground? Would enabling PU/PD on input pins help?
I there a 3d printing show today?
@rocky reef or @hard hollow can answer for it
I do not see it scheduled
@pastel pike I see @hard hollow and @Pedro are back online, but given they were just hit by a hurricane I will personally issue a dispensation to miss this week. π
it's up to them
hola dudes yea we're OK β setting up for the show today
Hang out with Noe & Pedro Ruiz and discover 3D printing! Get your 3D news, projects, design tutorials and more each week on Google+ Hangouts On Air. Subscri...
I test some setup now
yep, just finished rehearsing
yes, alot of our friends and family got hit really bad
still no power in a lot of areas
Have a cousin in Largo, house is fine, his gate blew out but otherwise all is ok, power came back on yesterday morning
from youtube in xbox
Just glad you are all safe. Damage can be repaired, but injuries/deaths cannot.
Good to see that you made it through the storm.
@rocky reef have 3D printed coffee mug handle?
i was to get my 3d printer today but delayed till tomorrow π¦
3d hangouts banner is fixed! not thursdays anymore π
i almost moved to florida but glad I didnt. Michigan just gets cold
how expensive is it to live where the same day shipping is?
3D printed chatroom right there in the side
adafruit is live at https://www.twitch.tv/adafruit
i had been wondering about a rock tumbler and ceramic bits for pla finishing
han solo in carbonite would look awesome in that metal
QQ: what's better for gluing PLA - CA or epoxy?
we use E6000 or just super glue
id like a dronie over a tony
Superglue 101
Oooh E6000! Magic sailboat repair adhesive!
ah yes, the tumblers work really well for these
had u tried to tumble pla yet?
Non 3D pondering - I wonder what drone they have. I think it's a DJI but I'm not sure which model.
we have the phantom 4, spark and mavic pro
@rocky reef Thank you!!! That Phantom is a sweet machine.
well eagle has a free version for all too
yes, phantom works great in windy conditions
i had not gotten eagle to fusion 360 integration to work yet. f360 drew my board incorrectly
Fusion360 to Eagle integration think of it
autodesk recently added it but i hope works better soon
think you get the part then need top part of the button to use in eagle
that learn.adafruit tutorial was good. but yes way out of date now
I'm really looking forward to getting the 3d versions of the parts so they transfer into Fusion360
link to the eagle lib for now https://github.com/djecken/Eagle-Parts
and make pretty visuals there.
that will be very usefull angrycub
@lilac eagle Yeah, the Maker Garage has a number of mills, so I'll be buying the blank boards and tools for doing PCBs...
I think I like the copper game pad instead of the "professionally" produced PCB....
I need to find a local makerspace.
I think the milled pcbs to have a pretty cool look there
home made plotter using old optical drives work too - you can then etch them
what about 3D printed PCBs
@hard hollow @rocky reef so EagleCAD <==> Fusion360 integration
what is othermils called now? I didnt quite get that
I need to see if I have access to something like that
please do make a video on milling PCBs!
im looking to use a laser and the laser paint method of making a pcb
from twitch chat: "MineOreProphet: Limor did a video of milling a pcb."
liquid tin is good for that
yeah, but it's expensive unless you're making tonnes of boards
UV soldermask is cheaper and easier
and you can choose your colours
i have to go. bye π¦
oh, that's nifty @dire bane !
where do you get the self adjusting wire stripper
The downside of that kind of stripper is that it doesn't work great with silicone insulation.
I should put my high power rocket flight computer in #show-and-tell
TypeR bros
thanks for watching folks!
I have the same wire strippers , it's awesome
Thanks @hard hollow and @rocky reef !!! Great show! The tumbler info was good - never would have thought of that.
@analog acorn thanks!
Good evening all you wonderful people π
Hello World! ><>
why hello there!
T-10 minutes and I smell like a campfire.
as with last time I did S&T, I'm a sweaty mess
apparently I only join hangouts on incredibly hot days
Been burnin' brush and branches all day.
It's a humid mess today in NYC. I feel like I'm Swamp Thing.
It was beautiful here in Chicago, er, Gurnee. Far north burb.
Seems like this is the only channel anyone is in, but that's probably because it's ALMOST TIME
lol
Had 2 big burns today.
Golly, who doesn't love a slinky? Martians. That's who.
I have a project to share is it too late?
@runic acorn Might have to hurry!
@runic acorn Nope
Somebody please make a noise once the youtube stream starts. Trying KODI against it, and stream can't be pre-opened, for some reason.
@eager sapphire Just refresh the browser...
I think PT generally alerts with @ here
Doesn't work like that NP
KODI is a different beast π
Oh, ahhhh, ok.
It's not actually "browser based"
"No streams found". Yet...
Icee said the 7/11.
Lol years since I had an ICEE
How would I share something?
We're waiting as well.

New new new!
hello!
hello everybody
hi
Hi
Hello @sterile forge
@haughty quiver when is your next live show
Tomorrow at 4pm Eastern time, @sterile forge
That's now my regularly scheduled time!
Yeah! π¨π¦
@haughty quiver definitely will be listening
OMG! YAY! but honestly DHL is amazing. 1-day delivery to Canada
shame there's nothing for Australia
YES!... Longer!
That's great news!
I like 30 minutes.
4pm urghh, that's my commuting time.
4pm eastern....that's called "trapped on the subway"
What's nice is it's project to project with no inbetween filler.
@open girder I know doing it longer is difficult, but just fifteen minutes more minutes might be a good idea. But if that is too difficult, thats totally understandable!
I wish I had a CNC machine π’
how's your data reception on the subway @waxen thistle ?
Which CNC kit did you get, @haughty quiver
@blazing atlas Everyone seems to like the Other Mill from what I've seen.
π would be fun to play with
it's the 3'x2' benchtop kit from CNCRouterParts
@haughty quiver Sadly, not good enough for streaming.
Mad props to @paper peak !!!
Sounds like a lot of people are on the West Coast here? (that's where its four right?)
Cuts in and out.
did i catch a reference that othermill has changed name/ownership?
bummer @waxen thistle
yup, now bantam (sp?)
financial problems?
I wonder if that's a good thing?
seems so (so far!)
I love the Scott in the Crawlspace project.
Had to have a little fun!
@analog acorn Me too
i'd love one - but the price is too high - so i'll just build one π
Might make an RFM68 gateway too. We'll see.
sounds like someone got upset that they already had the items
i could always use another pi
But I have to resubscribe to get 007!
@ocean musk Must be. Duplicates are fine, make more projects with stuff you have experience with
I get the AdaBox for my Son -- cuz I'm a cranky old Linux guy too.
or even try a riskier project where you might damage theboard
@open girder Exactly. It's complete.

the look on his face when ladyada said "you can play minecraft" was magic
i remember renting a sega from video store to play sonic
But when do you ship my adabox?
Right. They are clear on who the Adabox is for.
βYou can play minecraft?!?!?!?!βπ
I love it and this one will be going to my 5 year old nephew! keep it up!
(thanks everyone)
kid was stoked!
I'm getting 20 AdaBoxes and clustering them π
Sure can @round willow !
That was my quote
I love Adabox, I never know what direction to go in and try to learn so I like the direction it gives me to try something new.
The rocket MUST survive. Otherwise certification is lost.
You can even mod Minecraft with Python @round willow
i like playing openttd on the pi also
skipped my show and tell
@harsh bone that's awesome -- I've seen Pi clusters, but never Pi Zero clusters, that would rock
@green pagoda thatβs why I love them
I don't have 50 Pi Zeros, but since I can only buy them for a reasonable price when I'm on vacation near a Microcenter (and buy 1 per visit), I suppose I do have more than I really need
The pumpkins were great. Looked like EL wire for the mouths

@shy cipher didn't MicroCenter sell them for $1 at one point?
Retro Pi games will be my gateway system back into video games. I'm way past 5 years old and am jazzed.

Hi all
I should have kept the ESP32 feather I smoked...
@haughty quiver maybe? Not living near, i would've missed that. When I spent a week in Denver, I did go each day to buy 1 more Zero W (they never did sell out)
We need a sparky channel
I wonder if maker faire chicago is still gonna happen this year
Could you add me to the NY World Maker Faire list? Thanks , Sally
Cool.. How do I get in to the NYC Maker Faire one?... I'll be there!
@hollow lion tag @open girder or @river orbit to get on that channel
the "women in hardware" series is going to be great. the first two, with the engineer from autodesk was really interesting.
I'll have to show this vid and the other "Women in hardware" vids to the non-profit I volunteer for
They have a special group to get girls into STEM curriculum/activities.
You folks have a Tardis?!
You're welcome @open girder!
Soft and doughy west coaster present here in Victoria BC
That was a great video. How would a high school get access to it???
weird that twitch is behind youtube
Yeah, but they could travel to Queens for Makr Faire π
ironic - a remote learning conference wouldn't allow remote speaker π
Lead by exampe. Open Source Rules...
You're fast with a knife, JohnPark!
so ironic
Wow, John Parks is moving fast.
This CNC looks pretty legit. I am waiting for the other videos π
NO OUR SPONSORS MUST BE AROUND YOU
now that's a proper emergency stop button
@fallow fractal right!? No sharing!!!
got lots to do @strong spear !
should have said "$o ironic"
Yes
that being said, most cool events love the video video factory tours and live q&a here in a USA manufacturing place
@haughty quiver Did someone give you coffee?
they get it π
@haughty quiver you move so quickly!
@open girder: that's how they get sponsor support. They like the "lobbist" approach to gaining new customers.
yup
the sponsors are sold on being able to trap folks like limor in person
not a great deal for limor
'zactly\
@fickle umbra I gave me coffee. Then I gave me more coffee
yeah, she can't fact check them while they talk
@haughty quiver Good. Gotta keep the making fueled!
You gotta be generous with yourself, sometimes.
Woot woot!!!
@haughty quiver nice foley, too
also, it seems weird to use jet fuel to go do a talk for 20 mins
@inner spade thanks. crinkle crkinkle
Yes, ridiculously wasteful
ooooo file system support
cons: uses jet fuel pros:you get to spend time with the TSA
@haughty quiver One small suggestion for an otherwise outstanding video- try making it go just a little faster, or edit out the pauses that occur in real time. Just a suggestion, I ran into this with my teardown videos.
@willow pollen "Pros"... I don't think that word means what you think it means π
lol
thanks @fallow fractal good advice -- I'll put that into play when I deal with the 16 hours of the build video I shot : )
Worked remotely for a VA company for nearly a decade - flying out there periodically was frustrating, burned the time I needed to complete the work rather than just talk about it after a long plane ride...
python with all of that bundled is nice.
no problem @haughty quiver , you can see how (not to) do time lapses with some of my examples at youtube.com/jaydoscher
CP 2.0 is super!
yay!
I take 1-2 hour teardowns and try and fit them in 5 minutes, and even that is slow sometimes
To Scott & the Circuit Python team....awesome job π Thank you.
thanks @waxen thistle
Thanks CP team!
@rapid hornet I've got 3 boards to flash now... :p
oh cool, @fallow fractal, these are fun to watch! I have a very similar drill, too
I went through and did them to get practice at making videos. I have them scheduled for weekly releases through the end of the year
I'm still learning, but it's great practice for filming, editing, etc.
subscribed!
oh thanks! π
I shipped that drill off to Jimmy Diresta this week as a thank you- his channel is awesome and was very inspiring to me
@fallow fractal Jimmy Diresta is fun to watch
He's very accessible too, his community vibe is very similar to Adafruit- very positive
I had the pleasure of hearing Jimmy Diresta speak last year at Maker Faire π
Haha, Jimmy has so dang many tools ; ) I'm sure he liked the vintage drill however
I love that there are jobs like her's. It gives me hope for the world π
I need some of the things in this video in my life.. like BURNING
free the giant black octopus
@fallow fractal Do you have a photo of that drill you're talking about?
anybody know what the discount code is tonight?
"Warning: Human Safety Risk" I must have one of those signs.
I had a job like that. Build groundbreaking technology. It was a blast.
Thanks!

yeah, i just subscribed too
making a part to make a part π
@vital bane We called it tooling.
@heavy siren it takes creativity to a whole new level
you have to think past what your tools can do.
Yup
thanks @willow pollen ! I have more stuff in the works, some of the Arduino and Raspberry Pi videos take a considerable amount of time to make. The teardown videos are a little easier
cool
this fixture is cool - looks like it has it's own clamps incorporated into it
thats a giant mill
We called them jigs.
I get excited thinking about how best to use a 5 axis machine like that. Very cool stuff
These all look like trophies!
Every time I see a Bridgeport I think of AvE
the fixture is better than most finished products
Does anyone have a timestamp for the AIY kit? havent tuned in yet, but was looking if the m0 was in stock...and saw that... and then I was happy
Bridgeports, boy does that name bring back memories.
AvE fired up the bridgeport recently to make his marble cutter
I still have a sealed magpi issue of the aiy kit in my parts pile
@past pawn mean this? https://www.adafruit.com/product/3602
yes sir!
I was just working on one of those today π
so many toys
I was hunting through many microcenters, bookstores, and online shops with friends trying to find one
the jealousy is real...
a magpi subscription is great to have
It sort of works
I swapped the button out for a RGB one that changes colour instead of flashes in sequence
Resin printing is soooooo cool.
Can you imagine the costumes you could make with a paper printer?
Paper printing?
I made one without a button, it sort of just lives in my diy speaker
that's a new one to me
is the volume low for everyone else?
glad it's not just me that had never heard of paper printing
thats a fancy solder fume extractor
So jealous of that lab
Is there an estimate on the amount of AIY kits that will be in the shop? it would really hurt to have it sell out yet again... yet again... yet again.. ... yet again..
@BusesCanFly#2237 you can build one without the kit - most of it is a breakout
Was one of those bins labeled 'Fart sensor'?
Want!
*that's
That's what Zenith was like. State of the art stuff.
robot mcrobtface
call the robot Bandit, as it's got one arm
@severe stag the main thing that I though was really helpful in the kit was the hat, the integrated speaker would make portability pretty great
I want to make an AIY backpack, for the nerd satisfaction
@BusesCanFly#2237 https://hackaday.com/2017/05/30/diy-google-aiy/
@severe inlet yup, saw that too. Methane sensor π
it needs to go on forever
Good stuff.... interview was OK, but this was more fun...
@severe stag thank you, I skimmed over that a while ago but never really read it in depth
That video was certainly worth it
the interview was very interesting - long form is worth it on important subjects
Woot woot street cred.
I think the paper printing is cutting sheets of paper that are layered on top of each other,
it could be, but it looked like papier mache (sp)
Thank you for all the tutorials and the inspiration!
Just to let everyone know the AIY project requires you to register with credit card.
Robo-helper!
New Jersey is like China! LOL
ooh made it just in time for factory peek
knolling all of that at exact right angles takes skill!
one day the pick and place will build another pick and place..
i think chinese may be easier to understand than the jersey accent
Printing with metal PLA is fun!
Jammed up my extruder however, so I had to get a new one.
Woah
tumbling with brass screws is genius
π
same with apparel manufacturing, i'd much rather build a relationship with a local factory, meet the people making my stuff, and be able to drive over and look at something if need be
well that's unsettling

What is Adafruit doing at Maker Faire?
Hi Stream!
oh NICE...
Does Lady Ada design all the boards?
omg... trivia question prize could have many LEDs...
Can you make a tutorial about designing boards?
@open girder what pcb software do you use?
Got another one, and you can tell me to go bug @rapid hornet, but have y'all been using mu for the express boards/gemma mo? I've tried to get it to work (bcuz pretty and builtin repl), but it doesn't see any of my CircuitPython boards.
Q: Will the links for the Trinket MO & Circuit playground express data sheets & what not be added on their product pages?
@severe stag LadyAda uses Eagle
Can you change the addresses in the new featherwing and use 2 in a tripler with one feather
Do you think Circuit Python would work to code a clock or would Arduino be better suited?
Can you use arduino to display a website?
@haughty quiver What is the URL for your broadcast
Ok, thanks
are there upcoming phone phreaking shenanigans planned, or is the phone is the background for the look?
Hope one of the NYC Maker Faire surpises is you two going! π
@ivory kiln what info are you looking for?
@dusk tiger are you going to ny maker faire?
Can u use circuit python to display a web page?
I claimed mine same night when I won π
does it have HDMI?
I never know the answers to those questions... π¦
@ivory kiln nah, its not powerful enough. a raspberry pi is your best bet
I'm going to try the 8 Dot-star featherwings together
I claimed mine immediately. Got a lot of good stuff.
hah, another hangup
tell them to mute the stream while calling
Uh oh!....
someone on youttube got the voicemail
The questions are too difficult
Can I call and just say hi? π
@open girder The people that called say the voicmail is all they got!
@rapid hornet Nothing in particular, I'm still learning & trying to wrap my brain around all of this coolness. I got to see the data sheets & what not for the Gemma MO but not the other two. So I thought I'd ask.
too many people dialled to win all the LEDs
It kept going to voicemailβΉοΈ
I got a pair of Lora breakouts back in the day, very fun π That led me to get some Lora feathers π
@ivory kiln do you mean the learn guides? the datasheet for the microcontroller is all the same
run a little Asterisk PBX
It's better to have tried and crashed then to never have tried at all.
Thanks and good night.
have a good night!

i thought the content was great two years ago when I got addicted to the adafruit youtube channel - but it just keeps getting better and better...
time to back to figuring out this sparkx game
I have to say, cheesy as it is, after a day of school and hard exercise.... adafruit streams on wednesdays are always something special
thank you!
woohoo! please add me to Maker Faire! I'm goin!
@urban gale in ny? (not seattle?)
yup
@urban gale done
awesome! I went last year. there is a lot to see
gonna wear comfy shoes
we'll coordinate in #world-maker-faire
folks are giving talks and we'll meet up at the digi key booth beforehand probably
sweet!
@rapid hornet
Ya I realize that it's the same, O wait a minute, doesn't the Trinket MO & Gemma MO use the smaller version of that same microprocessor then the Circuit play ground?
It's the Schematic & Fabrication Print like what is shown for the Gemma MO on: https://learn.adafruit.com/adafruit-gemma-m0/downloads
The schematic in particular that helped me understand stuff a lil better.
@ivory kiln its actually the same difference. the size difference is due to the extra spi flash chips on the express boards
without it 64k of the internal flash is used for the file system
ok, I'm off. ping me if more folks need to be added to events
night
Ah, ok Thanks @rapid hornet . Have a great night
Did I miss it?
ASF4 ??? what is it?
@brittle nebula ASF4 is the low-level library that makes the M4s work, IIRC
@fickle umbra By M4s, I take your meaning to be Arm Cortex M4s. Thanks for the breadcrumb!
Ah, yes....
Via Google search, I found a tutorial shows how to use the ASF or Atmel Software Framework in Atmel Studio 7 for ARM Cortex microcontrollers.
You know they, the great tinkers, used to say: "Necessity is the mother of invention." Therefore, I entered "ASF4" into the search box above, here in Discord, and found many uses of the term: ASF4.
@brittle nebula ASF3 (Atmel Software Framework 3) is a static collection of software libraries provided by MicroChip/Atmel for their chips. In the past couple of years, they came up with "ATMEL Start" (aka ASF4), which is a web-based program builder where you pick and choose your components for a particular project on a particular chip. Though this is convenient for small programs, it's moredifficult for us to use: we need a large number of libraries and need to support multiple chips from the same code base.
@paper peak Ouch, so they treat it kind of like an Arduino?
It sounds like they intended it to be used only in embedded systems.
@analog acorn Something like that, I guess. It makes life easier (maybe) for a single-use application for a single chip. That is probably a lot of their market. It means the code is not full of #ifdef's. But we need those to support multiple chips. It would be nice if they provided the software just packaged up as a zip.
today there is @haughty quiver Workshop same Workshop time
@paper peak It definitely makes your lives a lot harder!
Yes, thanks @shell mason I'll be on at the regular time, Thursdays @ 4pm EST / 1pm PST / 20:00 GMT

it's live
Live in Australia!!

cool! on YT?
sounds good
Hi
yeah youtube is cool
adafruit is live at https://www.twitch.tv/adafruit
Those dates are right!
How far is chat delayed
it would be real cool if the eyes follow you!
They alllreeaddddyy dooooo thaaaaaatttt
Use eye tracking to check if people are looking and make it open it's eyes a few seconds after people look at it
So you def. need a matte finish for the monitor
Use a huge ebook display
so basically any pi that has 1080p HDMI will do it
btw switched to twitch, considerably less lag/buffering, today. At least here.
Samsung the frame is cool for this kind of projects
I see gaffer's tape there -- theatrical baling wire
Yes, that view shows a kind of eerie ghosting, but that might just suit today's theme
It's not a bug, it's a feature!
http://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/gadgets-and-tech/news/the-frame-4k-tv-samsung-wall-art-standby-uhd-led-a7630716.html this could cool for @haughty quiver halloween haunted portrait project
In Paris this week, designer Yves Behar unveiled Samsung The Frame, a concept LED TV styled to look like a picture on the wall.Β Itβs designed to address the fact that when a TV is turned off, especially the gargantuan flat screens ubiquitous now, the living room is dominated by a large black oblong. Behar explained, βWe wanted TV to come into your home in a way thatβs not destructive of your social life.β
Actually, that is what I was gonna ask.... How to get rid of the boarders
er, borders
this the same tv http://24gadget.ru/uploads/posts/2017-06/1496658715_samsung-frame-tv-018.jpg different frame

well the one view looks like 4:3
As always, great ideas/clever solves, thanks JP
Thanks JP!
good stream John
thanks so much! Now, can I convince my family to allow this to be permanently displayed in the house...
@haughty quiver the shot you had last where chat was bottom it had black sides so more space to your use
At other times of the year, it would make a nice annotated family history display.
(that's how I'd sell it...)
@haughty quiver hope that notice help better streams in the future
Nice stream @haughty quiver ....the fact that you used actual relatives really brought home the custom nature of the project

think in Finland kids start to learn coding when they start they school
