@cold viper long as ya got a team that communicates and doesn't mind setting pings, it's awesome.

Just got 60 kills last match.

I run the gun myself, keep an eye on the map, and if my team isn't sending coordinates, I just bombshell the next objective they more than likely spawn from.

Or ill bombard as our forces our approaching then cease when they are at 100 meters out and rotate targets.

The kar98k is a hard gun the sights aren’t my favorite either and sometimes recently it’s been getting a lot of hitmarkers definitely try to up the rifleman to the next load out classes just to have some options haha

I played a bit with some friends when the game was first released (early access iirc)
Enjoyed it quite a bit! But I loved Defense, Arty, and Tank gameplay more than Offense.
I also have ambitions to become a Squad Leader and with enough experience even Commander.

My friends were playing the game as if it were CoD, so eventually I quit playing.

I'd love to return! So if anyone is willing to teach/guide me and/or provide me a group of active players to play with, I'd love to know!

I've checked the divisions recruitment, but have no clue really what to expect from these groups, so figured I'd post a message here first 🙂
I intend to play casually, so don't want to have mandatory participation or anything. Can't get that scheduled in my life sadly.

I see you found the division recruitment and I'd say find a couple you are interested in. Many state their requirements, which I notice many don't require mandatory participations, they know life comes first! You can always hop on their servers or hop on their in-game servers to see how they are.

Honestly, I just play solo queue... and most people are very helpful. You can avoid communities if you want - I have yet to join one my self and I have over 800 hours.

Maybe those early access days soured my opinion, because it was mostly CoD-esque gameplay, where I wanted to see things be organised and see teamwork happening

Haha. I don't know the difference, but I use the Steam version and I think I've had issues... maybe once? With a VOIP issue... which was very common at the time. (A good 6+ months ago). I just keep my computer up to date and update the game when it comes through... and never have connection or network issues unless the server closes (happened once) or the servers were down (like 2 months ago)

You can only have one support and engineer on each squad. I mean, you'd probably enjoy the defense side of offensive maps the most.

Try to look for squads that are also assigned to defense in warfare.

It's not about being the support or engineer, it's about focusing on defense, and assisting the supports and engineers as they build by providing cover and the like.

Also, if I do have to play offensive, I'd like to either be in a tank, or assist a tank by being infantry that kills those that try to destroy it.

Essentially, I want to focus on working together with others, rather than trying to be the hero myself.

At least on warfare, if you see teams sticking on the defense point, you can stick to them. (Ie they are fighting for mid point and you are the 2nd to last point) If you go over the blue dot of that team, you can see what team they are part of (it highlights all squad mates) and if you cannot join it, just stick on the point.

Sometimes squads when their SL is reapplying or creating you can assign it a role say “mic preferred” or “offensive squads” which gives you a symbol next to your squad name and lets commander and other recruits joining in guess what you’ll be doing the game

This is a zoom in on one called “logistics unit” there’s also one for artillery but if anything it’s only a guess because a SL can’t actually perfectly control what he wants his unit to do plus of course defensive and offensive might flip flop based on situation

Hello. Is there any way to run both HLL launcher and HLL exe as an administrator? I figured out that games on unreal are insanely laggy on my PC if I don't run them as an administrator. Problem is that if I do that to HLL splashscreen will keep appearing over and over again and the game won't start

Honestly, yes! If you can find folks in game to chat with, you have as much of a blast as if with friends. It's sometimes easier to get use to it with friends, but everyone is at different stages of learning and most are willing to help you.

90% of this game has been solo-queue for me. I started with some friends, who I play with sometimes, but I usually am solo and join squads and have great chats while playing the game.

If you've got a local store they often will also be able to assemble for you as long as you buy all the parts from them, as long as you can't get the same hardware for much cheaper elsewhere that can also be a good option

The easiest is to just buy a prebuilt PC. Requires little research on your end but you're not gonna get a good bang for your buck, as you'll always be paying significantly more than if you were to buy the parts and construct the PC yourself.

It's daunting, not that it's tough, but prebuilts are still good!

If you instead buy your own parts you'll run into a lot of jargon that probably means nothing to you but there's plenty of communities dedicated to PC building that can help you choose parts that fit your budget, if you do decide to go down this path then just be sure to let some others check your final list to make sure you've got everything and that it is all compatible.

Putting all the parts together is definitely the scariest part, but most things are designed to be convenient to install and be resilient so it's not all that dangerous really. It's mostly time consuming.

However, this might also be a good alternative.

If you've got a local shop, maybe best to just go straight to them, explain them what you're after, and they'll probably be able to draft a build for you. And then show that draft to some external source (f.e. Reddit) to make sure you're not being ripped off.

A little more effort than just buying a prebuilt but with a bit of luck you'll end up with a much better deal without having to do all of the research.

You need career level 25 to play recon on some servers. HLL has both career levels (the level that shows up in the scoreboard), and class level (the exp. you have in a specific class/role, which can be viewed in the barracks).

Just keep playing the game and you'll get there, and then you can start experimenting with specialty roles like recon.

Listen to your squad leader.
if a utility role is open don't just pick rifleman, take anti tank or enginer support and use that utility.

If you're back capped let your sl know and redeploy to defend don't sit 2 sectors deep in enemy lines for 30 minutes doing nothing.

Be patient, moving is usually how most people catch a bullet, move sensibly with cover and concealment even if it's slower, use smokes to cover open ground.

I don't really have concrete advice tbh. As a solo player you can really only do so much, playing aggressive requires having a team to back you up.

If you want a genuine peice of advice, don't feel like you have to shoot everything on sight. If you notice a guy passing by but he doesn't notice you wait a minute to make sure nobody is following him. If you see people running past the same area, chances are there is a garrison or outpost nearby. You can try to get close before killing everybody and then destroy it.

Or just remain completely stealthy and ninja dismantle.

Just in case it was not clear; It is literally only cosmetics with practically zero gameplay implications. Buy the game, see if you like it, then later if you wish to support the devs and/or buy specific cosmetics, you can do so.

Buying literally all cosmetics is practically always a waste unless you're the kind of person that likes to cycle between all their available cosmetics regularly; Most people exclusively use the cosmetics they like the most, and if they had access to all cosmetics, likely wouldn't ever touch most of them.

Default aim setting are a bit slow. It’s honestly up to preference if you’d like it to be faster or not. I can get on and check mine if you’d like.

Could be related to the CPU. The game is CPU heavy and the Intel 13th series has some issues with stability. However shaders could be what's causing him to lag if they aren't loaded in fully.

The stuttering 1x at least every ~15-30 seconds is a common problem. There are a few people out there that claim they don't seem to have it even with non-newest GPUs. If you have the tough luck to it as I and many others do, you most likely won't get rid of it. In my case, the only thing that made it a little bit better, was turning Resize BAR in BIOS to ON/Auto.

The stuttering didn't use to be the thing, it started happening on all maps after a certain HLL update. I may be wrong here - but if I am not and remember it correctly, it was the update where Team17 added more logging after they took over. It was also the reason why I guess I ignored it at first pretty much, because worse performance due logging was expected. But I reckon they have removed the logging sometime later, just the stuttering didn't go away with it and so I started considering it a problem.

Until that update it went smooth on almost all maps, no matter when I used my old GTX 980ti or GTX 1080ti or my current RTX 3090ti as a test. Especially with 980ti I naturally had lower fps overall, but it still was smooth, without the stutters (I believe that one has 6GB too). Today (since the update in question) it's the opposite - no matter if I tested it with different PCs and these 3 different GPUs +with also different CPUs, different RAMs and motherboards, there is no appearant way to get rid of the stuttering if you are amongst those who have it.

Despite some few people still say that they are stutter-free and it's our systems' fault, **this is definitely the game's problem and not ours **- otherwise I would have had it stutter-free on at least one of the test PC setups with clean installations of Windows & required stuff, wouldn't I? And it wouldn't have started happening with that HLL update while in my case I didn't even do any HW/SW changes back then either, which clearly makes that HLL update to be the cause.

Sry I got misdirected by the terms you used as the stutters was a recent topic too - you mentioned lagging and in connection to the fact you given specs, I assumed it has meant the stuttering. Lag is usually considered a server/network-wise term, stuttering non-network-wise.

No idea what the problem could be apart of that what was mentioned, as long as he is on a 1080p screen.

On a video one can hardly notice such thing.

1st reason is that on the streamed video the fps is usually 50 or 60 tops. So if it's a frame drop and like from 50 to 40, one doesn't see the difference as good as one does when experiencing a drop from 200 to 40 for instance.

2nd reason is that from watching a video, even the stutter is generally way less noticable than the 1st hand noticing when one knows how he moves the mouse and stuff and if the game doesn't follow the suit well. Even on my video stream it is hard for me to notice every stutter despite my HLL stutters regularly. It has to be a bigger one to be able to get noticed on the video straight away. While on the other hand when playing, I notice them immediately and each one.

Does anyone have any advice seeing enemies on the super fog filled maps? Played one today and got smoked from every angle, but personally I couldn’t make out many guys at all unless they were running through open fields. Any suggestions?

Brightness helps sometimes depending on the map. Other than that just train your eye on getting used to seeing movement/muzzle flashes. Learning the audio direction and gun fired can also be helpful in some scenarios

This is an outpost, squad leaders (officers) put those down so their squad can spawn on them. Garrisons are a whole table set up with radio and other stuff (look different for each faction) and the entire team can spawn on those.

To destroy enemy outpost all you have to do is walk within 5-10 meters of one and it dissappear. Garrisons however you have to go up to and physically dismantle them. So always be on the lookout, if you see multiple enemy coming from a direction then there is most likely an OP or Garrison near that area

by the way thanks for the option to choose servers , however it takes longer now to choose what server to play than just clicking to play random server idk thats the only issue , also i like that it doesnt feel like call of duty when you shoot someone i noticed that they changed that too , there was a time that it took 3 shots to kill an enemey player now its either wounded or dead which i apreciate , but there is invisible walls in the game that when someone is shooting at me cant kill me or i cant kill them because of an invisible wall and that can sometimes ruin a game especially when it plays a huge role as recon or when you have to stop the other team from getting a good garry down but still way better than call of duty that is just garbage

If I hop in a squad and don't hear anyone, I start talking regardless. Most the time it gets other people talking and working together. If I can't get any feedback at all, I switch squads. I know it sucks there are alot of people who just don't communicate, but alot of times it just takes you initiating the communication and others will follow

Usually anything with new players welcome will not have a level cap, the merciless PC servers do not have a level cap. Bob the builder is a double XP server if you want to gain levels a bit faster.

If you're new, look for "New Players Welcome" or similar in the server name. Sometimes, veteran players don't want deal with people learning the game, and there are servers with 25+ or even 50+. Sometimes there are level requirements for roles (IE commander, officer, spotter, etc). Just join a squad with a leader already and try to learn the game 🙂

try to find teams that use comms. game kinda sucks without teamwork and communication. i began playing yesterday and ran into some people using excellent comms. calling down artillary directing us where to go. calling down bombing runs ect. you cant really win matches without cordination

stick with rifleman for a bit until you get the hang of things. dont take a supply truck until you know how to use it correctly to drop supplies for garrisons

Basically from my experiance its all about owning the point. getting supplies to it so you can build garrisons as respawn points to push the frontline foward. defend from the enemy at some points is needed as well.

try playing on servers that have "new players welcome" ran into some guys who were willing to show me the game

Here is an example of how XP is added up - I stitched together some screen shots. I was playing as recon spotter and this was almost a full 1 hour 30 minute match (I believe it lost with 4-5 minutes left)

To the people who have problems with the game pass:

it's not a bug, in order to play on the official servers you need the full version that you have purchased. This way you can see the servers, the gamepass version only lets you see gamepass servers, if there are any at all. Yesterday we had someone in stream who contacted support and received this information.
