Public Testing is gonna be pointless. You want ot install the base game, not public testing.

Public Testing is for set times they have the public testing version up for the new update (in the future). To play the game, you install "Hell Let Loose", not the public testing.
However, usually this means your anti-virus is blocking something.

Offenssive which is one side defends points and the other attacks

idk the last mode but essenstially it's a smaller map and kinda like team death match idk its more close quarters

Skirmish I think is what it's called. Most of the time you'll be playing Warfare.

Have you fully patched\updated your system by also installing "optional updates" and flip switch for "other Microsoft Products". Then check Windows Update again and get everything updated. As someone mentioned you ONLY need Windows Defender and get rid of any other third party garbage, especially Norton. That most likely has a hook that is causing your issue as well. Sometimes just disabling\off doesn't work and a full uninstall is required. EAC hates everything.

Start with kind of choosing a good spot to be in (not the very front, more like second) - and just sit down and look, you'll see some enemies soon, this'll at least help you with frustration of not seeing anyone 🙂

Not really, unless they say "Level 50+" or something, you'd be good with pretty much any you choose. There's some that say "New Players Welcome" so maybe look out for those first. Personally, the more inexperienced players on a server, the less likely you're gonna learn anything. That being said, people on NPF servers tend to be a bit more open to having lower levels in their squads.

I've seen a lot of NPF servers where vast majority of the team is composed of a bunch of low level squads running around like headless chickens.

Do your best to stick with the squad that you're in, or where the rest of your team is, and you should catch on. There is a lot of relatively "dead areas" in any match that won't hold much action, depending on where the strongpoints are.

I just do it off how it feels personally. My mouse has high dpi by default, so usually I have to lower the sensitivity in games by alot.. but I'm not very familiar with the world of mice and dpis.. maybe someone else would know haha

There's no right sensitivity

Really it just comes down to, if you notice you're unable to aim precise enough at range, then you probably want to lower your sensitivity.

Which of course also means that at closer ranges you have to drag a lot more

It means they are trying to fill their server up to get a game going.

As what Thorn said, it isn't necessarily that they are playing, but it'll get the numbers of players up in the server so more people join. Sometimes they have seed rules such as no tanks, only fight over mid point, etc etc. This would be usually up to 50 or 60 players total on server.

Not sure if it helps, but I set X, C, and V as push to mute on Discord, so if I'm playing with friends they don't have to hear me ingame and discord. Also you can adjust the volumes of the different chats

Definitly! But, your just avoiding my entire point. People can be quiet or mute like all other games, when needed. It doesn't help needing to worrie about an extra 1-3 buttons when your in the middle of a fight just to give comms where someone is. Especially for new players who frequently "fat finger".

Changing the game to be more accessible is almost always a great thing. It's also just far more comfortable for everyone and just makes the game better. It wouldn't just be for new players and it wouldn't be anything difficult or hurtful to the game.

First of all, don't run in open fields, if you have to crawl. Don't go and charge into any large spaces by yourself.
Try out some classes to see what one fits you the most and the one you work with best.
Be careful around every corner.

Toggle lean is probably the best thing to change to. Obviously changing your sensitivity is important.

If you play artillery then I suggest you change the fire and reload key both to spacebar, which for me is nice and ergonomic, but for smaller hands you could use another key closer to F1/F2

Sounds like its memory-related, especially if it happens after some time. First thing you can do is do a proper shutdown (Hold Shift while pressing the shut down button in Windows), and wait a couple minutes before turning it back on. This will clear the memory cache that you might have built up. Also what are your temps getting to?

I would also make sure Windows (including optional) and all drivers (and chipset drivers if you have an AMD CPU) are up to date. Then I would look at this #tech-solutions message

For a more advanced potential solution, use this guide and change your page file to 10GB (or whatever you choose) as long as its the same for both initial and maximum size (Note that the units are in MB so youll need to convert GB to MB). Seems fine to me try this from @main bough ,

Set overall Video in game to MEDIUM, Turn OFF SSAO and Motion Blur, Change Texture quality to HIGH or EPIC, Change View Distance to EPIC. Use Clarity TAA (or Community TAA). NO Steam Launch options.. If you have Nvidia go into driver and hit "Restore" button. Only set Power Management to "Prefer Performance".
Change Shader Cache to something other than "Default" give it like 1G or so. Set to actual GPU for PhysX.

Change your Windows Page File to 10G for MIN and MAX. Toy with Windowed vs Full Screen in game. Upon every launch of game get into habit for going into Video and hitting APPLY SETTINGS. Shadow Quality - HIGH or EPIC to reduce lag in scoped items.

This is gonna sound really dumb but its possible as well apparently - if you have a wallpaper that is changing for your desktop to a new image often, disable the slideshow and just have a static wallpaper

Take a picture or a screenshot of your keybinds if you've changed them, click reset to default, re-apply your keybinds that you had before, if any. You should now be able to clear those messages with Y afterwards

I have a question that might be dumb, I keep dying in games without ever seing the enemies. I tend to on 0.5 kda. I know kda isn't the most important thing in this game. But it is frustrating do die so much and do so little so I was wondering if anyone has some advice?

best advice is somewhat to take your time

second advice is too look at the map and try to guess where enemies are, by looking at where the blueberries are, the objective etc.

you can feel at some point that you might be in danger zone or not (even tho people can be hiding everywhere, recon squad , etc)

overall there is some matches where you might die a lot , other game you won't as much

depending on the role your playing, infantry tends to die a lot more then others. if your SL or medic you can stick maybe a little bit behind others to try and survive as thats how you are more needed then dying first.

you need to get used to where people might be, look for very faint movement or head popping looking toward you, do not shoot everytime you actually see someone running but maybe wait until you get a better position or a better shot (closer or not) and if you do shoot, try to change position more often then not

in the end its not a perfect science, some map are very more harder to spot people then others (all the forest maps are for me a bigger challenger on that issue)

If I know the enemy will come from some direction, then I find a tree or rock to crouch behind and lean to the side. Then I wait and at first just get a feel of what it looks like when enemies come. As long as you are still, it is harder for enemies to spot you and easier for you to spot the enemy.

People in videos and streams are already crazy good at spotting people and aiming. The strategies they use don't work for you. Instead, focus on being in cover, but also be ready to quickly aim and shoot against any enemy that might see you.

Most important though is being in the right place. If the enemies come from behind you, then you'll have a hard time. On the other hand, if there are no enemies where you are looking, then you'll waste your time. A good place to be is the main offensive towards the enemy strongpoint, but don't run first. When the first players die and the enemy starts to attack, you'll want to be in a good hiding spot waiting for them.

Hello! I am a macOS player and I often play Arma 3 on macOS.

Because the game is temp free, I play hell let loose on the steam deck. Even though its hard to see anything more than 100 meters away due to the resolution, I got lots of kills.
Should I buy the game?

It's not officially supported, but I have heard from others it plays at around 60 FPS on medium settings with the deck. As far as the difficulty, I'm sure its not the easiest to spot if you were just playing from the steamdeck itself, and you will be going up against mouse and keyboard as well. I would perhaps try to lower the settings, use Community or Standard TAA for antialiasing, force it to launch in VKD3D (also not supported), and try to dock it to a bigger display.

Biggest things are making sure the right sources are set in-game (Must be in a server, Settings > Audio > VOIP) and matches the ones set in Windows (Volume Mixer, Audio Control Panel, etc) as well as disabling applications that may interfere with those (Game Bar is the most common). If you have a headset with a microphone and the input/output are labelled as the same device (such as Random Brand Gaming Headset Pro X as an example), make sure you have the microphone source as the input, and the headphone part as the output, sometimes it specifies at the end of the headset's name if its the microphone or headphone one

It is only between Steam and XBOX gamepass on PC, and physical xbox console and PS. You can't have a PC player play with PS or a physical xbox console.

Certainly! A lot of those helmets or outfits are DLCs, which some come out for free, and then there are default outfits that automatically come with the game.

I usually try to go to 150 or less ping, and look in the 70-80 range for number of people. I have 0 issues connecting to EU servers living in central US. Obviously lower ping is best.

Correct, it'll switch maps, possibly game modes too (warzone to offense/defense or vice-versa). You'll get use to the iron sights.

You can make the config file(s) Read-Only and prevent from being reset even in case of the HLL startup bug.

First, make the cosmetics selections as you want them, quit the game and then go to
C:\Users\yourUserName\AppData\Local\HLL\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor

And make GameUserSettings.ini file to be read-only (right mouse click > properties > check the Read-only checkbox). It is that file which stores all the cosmetics selections and also your other game settings (audio, video, etc...).

Glad to help, just ⚠️ ⚠️ beware, always when you will want to make some changes in your cosmetics or game settings, you will need to disable Read-only again otherwise your changes will be lost every time once you quit the game.⚠️ ⚠️

Also, you can simply make a copy of that file and use it as a backup - if the source file would get reset, you would simply delete it and replace it with the pre-made backup. (in case you wouldn't want to use read-only)

yep, it's not much of a problem when you are at the start of th HLL journey, but when you will have everything unlocked, it gets pretty annoying if you would need to redo all your cosmetics for all your classes 😏

I can imagine, I'm just glad I still have my loadouts. I much prefer the carbines for officer than the full autos as I tend to do a mix of long and short range combat

I personally prefer Garand. M1 Carbine has just 50m one-hit-kill (OHK) range, while Garand has 200 OHK. Carbine is great in the town short-range encounters though as it has 15 rounds.
