It is an exceptionally fun game when you play with a nice squad of people who communicate.

that isn't how it works, there is a global ammo pool and everytime you reload it draws from that, you can even watch your magazine left counter tick down mid magazine while you're shooting

I would like them to be in the recon team in that case because the game won’t represent that it was 95% men of the entire soviet army, including them in the back line, which was there where the women were the most, as nurses and such. Some were snipers though and other roles as well but it almost never happened that they were front line soldiers so I don’t think they would fit as a standard frontline soldier.

Like I said, 95% of the entire army were men. The majority of the women worked as nurses behind the lines who actually participated which doesn't include the frontline. Most women who actually fought were snipers who worked behind the enemy frontline.

i sat in two queues and finally got in and got kicked after 30 seconds

If you turn HUD on or press the button to temporarily bring up the HUD, you'll see the mag count on the bottom right. Ammo uses a 'bullet pool' system similar to what you might find in COD or Battlefield, however the ammo is displayed as a mag count rather than a bullet count.

Take the Thompson for example. In-game it has a 30 round magazine. You spawn in as a class with the Thompson and the mag count says "6", you always spawn with max ammo so you'll have 180 bullets to use. If you don't know how much ammo you have left, the number will tell you how many "mags" you have remaining, and so if you had "4" mags left of Thompson ammo, it means you have anywhere between 90-120 rounds of ammo remaining.

There are no "lost" or "saved" mags in the game, it's just a unique way of showing a rough ammo count without having the normal bullet count shown like all other games do. For experiment sake, lets say you shoot 20 rounds from your Thompson and reload, you repeat this 6 times, you will have 60 bullets left. You will find the "mag" count will say "2" and that you can still fire 2 full mags of ammo, even though logically that wouldn't be possible since you would only have 10 rounds in each magazine.

Its mid can be fun, I rly like the maps and Era of weapons. However I wouldn't recommend isonzo over 10 dollars, still needs alot of work. Sound design is nothing as good as HLL, progression can be frustrating to newcomers, lots of bugs/glitches, sweaty players(zab) and hackers can be an issue, as well all maps and static weapons are fixed meaning that maps and the game overall can get stale while in HLL things alternate. Isonzos devs made the foundation of a good game but failed to make it what it could be. As well Player counts will die down to the normal 200 or so players within a week or 2 imo.

I actually disagree with most of what @brittle island said. That being said, it's been a few months since I last played. Played the game for about 50 hours, grinded all the achievements, and stopped playing afterwards.

• Game is very polished. Way more polished than HLL. Everything functions smoothly with no bugs or missing features.
• Compared to Verdun and Tannenberg, in terms of gunplay, movement and animations... It feels a lot better. Still a little stiff, but better.
• It's very much a hardcore run-and-gun game, kinda like Rising Storm 2. This isn't a bad thing per sé, depends on what you enjoy.
• Perhaps most importantly, it lacks replayability. Don't expect a game you can dedicate your life to. If it weren't for the progression and achievements (which, yes, can be a bit grindy), I would have quit after 20 hours as opposed to 50.
• As for the paid cosmetics you mentioned. They're super easily ignored. HLL has paid cosmetics too, and a lot more of them compared to Isonzo.
• As for the hackers @brittle island mentioned, I didn't see any when I played. But again that was some time ago. May have changed. May just be cope.
  All in all, if you enjoyed Verdun and/or Tannenberg, you will enjoy this. It's like an upgraded Tannenberg in basically every aspect.

I wouldn't but Isonzo in the same boat as RS2 the game play is much different and they took a more BF1 operations approach RS2 is more milsim but again different time period and game. then again Isonzo is filled with bots compared to HLL or RS2. I just don't know if its worth it I enjoy the time period and I like historical accuracy however its more fun with real players

So I've put about 330 hrs into isonzo and isonzo to me doesn't feel polished at all, so many areas where your gun goes into walls, bipod deploying while standing up, calls in not working right, falling thru the map are just some examples. . Game does get stale after amin cuz map layout is exactly the same every game. Sweaty players are more of an issue imo than hackers in isonzo but game has no anti cheat or vote kick system so when a hacker/zab does show up it gets rly annoying. Isonzo is a major improvement to verdun and tannenberg, if u like those games buy isonzo but if u haven't played those expect something similar to rs2 but more casual.

Then just disband your squad and join up with them. Most servers have at the very least a couple squads doing talking

Trust me after dying repeatedly for like my first 10 levels I finally found the sweet spot

Scout out for any kind of tree lines, trenches or anywhere you would hide to get some good shots off and move from cover to cover

Think about where you’re going to go next and what you’re going to be able to see after you get there

Also, the most direct approach to the objective usually isn’t the best try to attack from different angles, then where the main Battle is happening

Watch a couple of Youtube vidoes, ask clanmates questions whilst playing, spend some time at the in-game practice range.

Give yourself a few weeks and reach out to the clan see if they might offer a session covering a specific area of the game, if you still need it.

At present, DLC is just costumes/outfits/helmets etc.
All the maps are free and all the guns are unlockable for everyone (although some grinding may be required), all vehicles are spawnable by the Commander.

They're purely cosmetic, although you could potentially make some arguments about different camo patterns being marginally more effective in certain situations

Hey! I wanted to just ask since both me and my friend are having this problem. We cannot move the tank Commander sights at all. From what I recall it's mouse aimed (even if it's not and it's keyboard we tried WASD too), then all you need to do is scroll in so that it shows the actual redicle and move your mouse, but for whatever reason, the sight won't move, however for the tank driver MG, mouse works, and for the gunner WASD works. So why won't the commander sight move?

honestly you'll probably be fine wherever you go, there are new players welcome servers tho if you want to

being vocal and communicating with your squad will have more impact on learning to play than which server you go in

During a free weekend, most servers, so long as they don't impose level restrictions, are "new player friendly" in the sense that 70% of all players are new to the game.

Outside of a free weekend, I would honestly avoid NPF servers under the assumption that a good chunk of players on those servers are in fact new players who will be just as clueless as you, making it much harder to learn anything or find games that don't end in 15 minutes because no one builds garrisons.

No worries 🙂 You got it. The commander can't drive a tank, so if you're wanting to use a tank, you need to be in an armour squad (as you are now), then just ask command for whatever tank you want.

You can join an empty server. There's also a server dedicated to farming levels through building bunkers together which will help tremendously getting those achievements. But really, HLL's achievements are so ridiculous that realistically it's gonna take you hundreds of hours of grinding.

I'm trying this game out as its free weekend. I'm a very long time vet coming from the Battlefield series in which I absolutely hate conquest due to the long run times before battles. I tried out this game and found myself sprinting toward the combat for a good 1-2 minutes, dying almost instantly to someone I cant see, waiting to respawn and doing it all again. Is there a mode that has a bit faster pacing when it comes to combat? All the running and waiting immediately turned me off the game and I want to give it a chance.

How hard is the machine gunner in a defensive position? I always like playing defensive so just setting up a firing arc and covering a point is appealing to me

Every halftrack has an MG except you can rotate the American and Soviet ones 360 degrees, the German one can't but has better frontal shields

However halftracks aren't combat vehicles in this game, and they make pretty bad unit transports too

Generally you want to use a halftrack as a garrison that can be moved from place to place

No such servers exist, and any server claiming theirs always has good comms is just talking smack. Some servers do put in a little more effort than others though to encourage and/or enforce a baseline. But especially during a free weekend that's super difficult.

Best is to just ask in chat if there's anyone looking for someone with a mic, usually someone responds. Or simply request to join any locked squads.

There's two different versions that will be installed, one simply called Hell Let Loose and the other which has PTE in the name

And you have the game - just two different versions of it. Check your Steam library, there's both Hell Let Loose and Hell Let Loose (Public Testing), and for some obscure reason Steam always downloads the latter instead of the former.

Honestly, most of the time, commanders are just as wasteful. A good bombing run can make the difference, but why even bother with a strafing run when arty can lay down so much more fire for much less munitions, or drop a shitton of supplies when someone can just quickly swap to support to drop them.

Seeding is the term used for populating servers, you are essentially the first seed that will eventually and hopefully grow into a populated server, no idea why you’re being kicked though?

Depends on the recon team, most will get in the truck furthest from the Frontline and drive behind enemy lines, others will wait for an airhead, and I've seen some prefer to walk or use a jeep

But once they're established with a well placed OP you're never getting rid of them if they're half decent

If you're lucky you'll get put in a match where the enemy recon teams are incompetent and you'll only have to worry about tanks driving all the way to kill you

There isnt. Medic is often frowned upon, but it is useful in some places like alleys, trenches, a building and such where it's the simplest to revive people.

imo the 2nd medic loadout is good just for the 4 smokes. If smokes are the only thing keeping anyone alive while crossing that opening, better weapons wouldnt help. And the pistol is decent, especially when you get 16 magazines...

Bought the game recently, previously played a little on PS5. Can someone share their video settings, as I have rtx 4060, maxed out settings with community TA and I think the game looks slightly worse than I can see on gameplays from YouTube. Also, I have i5-12400f, and the game runs at 90 fps with occasional stutters (my bet is that the game is optimized poorly, as ps5 version runs very much worse). Are there any video/quality performance tips you can share with me?

Depends on what "better" is, really. If it's that the game looks a little hazy, try lowering some settings and/or change AA method. Additionally, while unlikely, youtubers may be able to do some post processing while editing their videos, for instance by increasing gamma a little, or adding some more contrast, so that it's easier for the viewer to follow what's happening.

I mean, its just practice to learn leading on people. If you want to see people better, just dont move for a bit and hold a position. You're way more likely to spot an enemy pushing towards you versus them trying to see you whilst you're in cover and stationary

I'm semi-new miself, but ive noticed that you have to spend time aiming down a lot, it is very necesary. Just make sure you see the enemy before they see you, and then you will be able to aim down as long as you want

Yeah, all main infantry rifles (garand, K98, any mosin, any enfield) are all one shot kills to the torso and up

Some carbines are too but they have a less effective range for that, like the g43, svt40, and m1 carbine

Most people will die in about two shots though from any weapon

Another tip is the STG 44 1 shots people at around 50m or less and 2 shots 100m or more

Use any class you want tbh, the effectiveness of one person in a match is basically negliable to matter what class you choose, I switch classes a lot though depending on the type of fighting in the match, more long ranged Im using rifles, and semis/autos for cqc

Recommending rifleman specifically is stupid. Honestly best to tell people to pick Rifleman/AutoRifleman/Assault, whichever gun they rock with. Also, if the squad doesn't have a support yet, take that over Rifleman.

I don’t know if this is the correct forum for these questions, if not I sincerely apologize. I’m also aware of the fact that there may be a lot of similar questions out there on the Web, but I have not been able to find any exact answers to my thoughts…
So, I’ll drop them here and see if anyone has any input to share:

I recently finally bought “Hell Let Loose” after having wanted to try it for long. I hesitated because there is no “solo play” option, with experience from “War of Rights”, where I tried to play with a wonderfully nice regiment that had more than enough patience with my extremely sporadic attending to drills and battle events. And this leads up to my first concern with this type of “multiplayer-only” games - my very dedicated but limited and randomly spread out gaming time/hours, which most of the time prevents me from showing up at specific scheduled hours. Is there room for a non-organized player like me in this game? Maybe a silly question, but in WoR it was not easy to play as a non-organized “freelancer”…

Then there’s my microphone “issue”. Oh, I do have a headset with mic, but my IRL domestic situation (mainly health related) makes it very hard for me to talk without disturbing (I even sometimes must play with the headphones halfway off one ear, to be able to react to urgent situations where I even may have to leave the game for a while). This doesn’t happen that often, but still…

So, to sum up my thoughts in this way too long post:

Is there, in your opinion, a way for this 57 years old media teacher to be able to join and play this great game without annoying other players too much?
This far I haven’t dared to join any populated servers, but spent my time on various empty official servers exploring the magnificently graphical environments that to a history interested guy (and ACW reenactor) is a blast in itself. But of course it’d be great to try the game’s "for real". 😊

Most people are solo playing as well (as in they dont know anyone in the server) and ideally work together to win as strangers. For the mic, like what NINJA said, as long as you are playing as a team and listening to the SL, that would be more than enough imo if I was a SL. If you want you could ping a spot and say like "heavy tank" or ping and say "infantry", if you arent in a good place to type it to the squad. You should be fine though, if you dont wanna talk just type in the squad chat at the beginning that u cant use a mic and can type stuff if need be.

You’re a very nice a guy, you can play solo you’ll enjoy the game make sure to watch the map a lot so you can at least see where your squad is and try to stick together, there’s also markers on the map like “Move, observe, defend” or markers for enemies like “Enemy tank / Garrison / Outpost”.

There’s also a chat with your squad that you could use.

Not necessarily. Usually that issue it you're not able to load the game fast enough.

If your PC meets specs decently then look into it being a network error for you to solve

How can i build fortifications using supplies?

You'll have the be the engineer class to do that, then you'll want to pull out your wrench, select the blueprint you want, hold down the prompt to place said blueprint, then pull out your hammer and use the same button which will build that fortification if there are enough supplies nearby

Supplies have a range of 50 meters. If you can see them on your HUD when you press T, you're in range. Easy way to figure out how far you can build. With garrisons, you can squeeze a few extra meters out by turning around, as the garry doesnt exactly have to be in range of supplies, only the creator. Just today I had to use this trick again

? offworld were the publishers but not the devs of PS. The former devs Periscope Games had like the entire team sacked and PS was abndoned for some time until offworld decided to just buy the game and have their dev team work on updating PS
