There were only a handful of them and all used in the Pacific Theater and whilst it's definitely a unique and cool weapon it's exactly "iconic" when you put it alongside the M1919 or BAR.

I doubt the reticles on the tank guns work, but there's also no real reason to do that the ping system has a built in range.

sorry if I was unclear, I can get the targets range from the ping, but can I use the reticle to line up the shot exactly, so I'm not using guesswork/ a ranging shot

Oh. Well the hold over at distances is always the same yes so you can use bits of the reticle, but it doesn't match up to real world stuff (german sights were adjustable for instance), you just have to go out and try.

Also there's some parallax with the zoom levels that can be noticeable up close

Really the drop on tanks isn’t a huge issue, u may be aiming a little bit higher then your target for those long range shots, but with most engagements u will find u don’t need to comp for range, don’t stress to much about perfectly aiming the shot and focus on hitting weak spots

I play a good amount of tanks and I don’t really use anything other then the center reticle

This is especially tru when fighting infantry because the HE splash radius is cash money

I dropped 54 kills in about 30 mins spamming HE rounds into Garry’s or choke points

It depends tbh, I don't usually stay at the back I'm the one that drops in supplies/Supply Truck and builds garrisons for our team, and sometimes requests Squad leader's to build Garrisons if I'm far away.

I typically lead close to the front with a jeep. I like having a squad of 2 guys on arty to use for call in strikes and building garrisons is good with a jeep and airdrop

every game lasts 5-10 minutes. ifeel like the majority of random servers ive been on have been complete stomp and very one sided. as a new player kinda odd a multiplayer game is designed this way with no auto balancing. i understand its not easy to implement because of the long grind of the game so its frustrating to get sent to the other team when you built up X supplies or defenses, but man....

unfortunately the games ive been on have not lasted that long. clans could be part of the reason as well

Sort by players and then scroll down. If there’s more than 50 and less than 90 you should join those as long as the ping is good. It’s rare, but not impossible, that you might just have to wait in queue. It’s best to just refresh and keep attempting to enter the queue if that happens.

The game revolves around what team has the most garrisons and, secondly, where those garrisons are located. I would recommend watching some videos online about garrisons and the Commander/Officer role. You don’t have to be level 100+ to be a good enough Officer or Commander. It’s all as simple as doing what people ask, building garrisons, updating your outpost in good spots, and situational awareness.

There are plenty of level 100+ Commanders (especially recently for some reason) who are completely incompetent. There are plenty of sub-100 Commanders who would rival Rommel. It’s just a matter of putting down garrisons and trying to stay at the max of 8/where you place them.

Comms help a lot, but every soldier and role has his objectives. It's more like each individual has the chance to bring the team to greatness.

I've made friends on hell let loose, it all depends on the squad. Sometimes you will find mute squads, I suggest finding one with a capable squad lead.

Plenty of great people on hell let loose but like any game it has its bad apples for sure.

The biggest downside in my opinion is the terrain pop in at range. Sometimes you think you're fairly concealed but a guy 200 meters away doesn't have the bush you're hiding in loaded. That's an issue with the game itself.

You can, but I would discourage it. HLL is a vastly different (and less fun) game when you don't use voice. Jumping in and playing for 1h is no problem.

I don’t think people understand how hard it is to make actual historical accurate games while keeping it fun, first the amount of work required is no joke, hell let loose doesn’t have that much tanks, but for them to be historical accurate they would need to literally make a whole bunch of different tanks just for one map. For example North Africa they would have to spend time and resources making new vehicles just for this map, then do the same for Stalingrad, Kursk. I just don’t see it happening, as for weapons they said they’re looking at ways to do it but again it’s the same, they have to remove guns like stg while having to do more work adding early German and British weapons. Same for America, they would have to add new tanks if they ever get a Africa map. People want it to be historically accurate until your stuck as Infantry going against a enemy team with armor support, because I guarantee you not all these maps in game had armor support.

The only games I've seen be historically accurate down to the wire and still be fun is a couple of RTS games like Gates of Hell and Men Of War. But Men of War had to be modded with RobZ Realism to be fully accurate. No game, especially FPS can be 100% accurate, because firstly, Jesus that would be irritating, average lifespan of a soldier on the battlefield is uhhh. Let's just say it's not something to be desired. Even in modern times. And there would be soooo much to develop. ARMA is a real soldier sim game, and Ready or Not is to a degree as well. Both those games are extended niche. I think what Gates of Hell got going is perfect, even if it means I'm getting my teeth kicked in because I'm bad.

Generally slower is better for turns in most games but the tanks seem to turn much faster/sharper with a higher speed.

Medic almost feels useless to me, most people give up before I get close to them unless they are in a point defending.

The AT guy is super fun but havnt had a chance to throw his AT gun down, do people use that for vehicles or just as a general killing tool, iv been shot countless times by either a tank shell to the head or a AT round.

Havnt had a chance for recon either, most fill up before I load in or get filled with solo locked teams which seems pointless to me, and then they spend pretty much the entire round sitting by the enemy HQ popping off the artillery on the cannon or spawn camping the tank crews which really helps.

With the 3 types of tanks, can a light tank even have a chance against a heavy, or is it more of a who can get the first shot off or surprise the other one?

Heavy tanks generally require another heavy if you want to penetrate frontally

Preferably from the back but also from the sides will you be able to do damage, but any smart crew that has someone sitting in the driver seat will quickly turn to face you before you can fully kill it

None of the view distances will help with render distance issues, unfortunately. But you should be able to see infantry and vehicles out to 1,1km

when it comes to tanks does tank commander normally always wanna be in the spotter seat?

Yes and yes. Tank commanders get access to all the different markers so being able to ping and designate targets for your tank crew and your whole team is beneficial. Recon vehicle is great for helping the recon team get behind enemy lines or help get a garrison set up with another squad. @heavy perch

cause i wanna learn to main tank stuff but starting a tank crew forces me into an offcier rule and it seems daunting

i see how a proper tank crew can really turn a battle around or push the enemy back really far

i watched my buddy play as the recon and his entire goal was to lock down the enemy artilery, and ping garrisons for our artillery to somehow hit spot on almost every shot, which was kinda scary to see how accurate they can be

Well, when I started tanking I had a fresh crew with no experience and I took the command role. Keep that head on a swivel and be quick about marking targets, command seat gets great zoom in the spotter seat so look at every blade of grass.

Learn to use the clock system when spotting, your driver has limited view and your cannon turns slow, so if someone is behind you on your right say target 4-5 o clock.

kinda wrong thing to do imo but part of me wants to find lower pop server to get tank to level 3 to get that torch, being able to repair the tank after getting hit seems very valuable

yeah i used clock system when i was driving, im still learning how to drive the bloody things and knowing how fast or slow to slow down or speed up to maximize time and not spend half the travel time stalling out

Stalling takes practice for sure, and some vics turn better at different speeds. (The tetrarch can turn on a dime at top gear.)

No same zoom for whichever crw gets in, that's all you're gonna be doing is bird watching and coordinating escape routes sometimes. Might jump out to kill someone trying to satchel you but thats as exciting as it gets.

Paranoia and ptsd is actually your friend in that command seat, having adhd helps also.

i know the general ping for my unit but i havent dabbled in the actual specific pings like observe, tank, infantry, move, etc etc

Takes some practice, best bet is when you're approaching the field ask in command chat about enemy armor or infantry hot spots. Try to have friendly infantry nearby and support them while they support you.

Hard for someone to get a good rocket or satchel on you when they need to maneuver through your friendly boys.

Yeah, some maps really benefit from what I refer to as "sieging". Taking a spot at range and saturating an objective or area with HE.

So you can never lock the other 2.

That's a bug, not an intended change
