The issue with that is given how easy shooting and killing targets is, you then make defense as basically impenetrable if there’s a decent amount of bodies. The game then becomes just holding the mid point and playing the time out. This was an issue with one of the previous updates prior to airheads.

It’s really lose-lose.

I'd say in a proper game, it's 25% cmd, 25% recon, 20% tanks and 30% inf. The tank and info ratio is a bit dependant on map ofc.

Not always. The same can be done by a recon most of the time and on top of that, they can build garries themselves. Same with infantry. Infantry can do those same very things you do. In certain circumstances it might not be as fast or as easy, but then again they don't cost fuel to do it in those same specific situations.

A good example I can take is Mont Halais on Carentan. As Allies attacking it, it's an absolute crapwater of a point to take. Hard to flank, hard to make garries for it and easy for defenders to hold.
A tank on the allies side helps immensly in possibly sniping the enemy garry, or at least thinning the herd of infantry so the allies can move up.

But at the same time, so can a commanders timed bombing run.

Or recon can sneak in from the back with their enemy back side OP's and dismantle the garry that way, whilst also killing let's say 5-15 people, which is the same action done in a different way.

So it's kind of like checks and balances

Commander can always drop supplies for flank garries, but you still need the recons to make it in the back.
And recons can always make it in the back (or at least most of the time), but you still will need the infantry to spawn and actually cap the point.

And infantry can always cap a point given enough time, but defense has to hold till that happens.

So you have reliance loops where if one piece is missing, someone else has to lock in and fill that same percentage of weight.
For example, playing w/o commander. It's completely do-able and fine, but then you need to have SL's and supports that are serious about their tasks.

Infantry is by far the most important role by that standard, but that's only due to their sheer numbers

if you do effiency per capita, commander would be the most efficient role, per capita

That's why I also try to teach newer players that there isn't one straight shot strat for winning games. There's no "meta" spots for garries or anything, all of them can and will be destroyed sooner or later.
It's a game of probability though. One action will always be more beneficial than another, but any action will be beneficial in general. (Normal actions ofc, not stuff like sinking tanks).
It's the SL's (all types) and commanders job to weigh out the possibilites, determining which option is most beneficial in any given moment.

Your match has a significantly higher chance of going positive the more SL's (and also normal players) that can see these posibilities and do the weighing in their heads whilst playing.

Or if you're further from the buildable area (due to a loss of a capture point) then maybe don't go in the old enemy cap to shoot people, but instead back out, go around and place a new op down for your squad. Then do a double drop for a garry.

Role-wise, I think SL's are without a doubt, hands down the most impactful thing in a match. Not like a single one, but SL's as a whole on a team.
So if they suck, chances are so will your match
