Have any of you actually... used the flame thrower? Its a complete waste of a weapon.

Its the hardest weapon specific unlock in the game, has absolutely no redeeming factors, has shorter range than a shotgun, slow moving fire, inconsistent hit register, and a nearly 3 second brace time.

And despite all that, I still have the achievements for 100 kills with it, and 20 in a round. I am the authoritative source on all matters flame thrower and I can absolutely confirm that having the ability to break nodes will not increase its usefulness at all

It needs either:

1. Remove the brace time and allow it to fire 'hip'
2. Increase the speed of the flames and range
3. Reduce it to a level 3 or 5 unlock and increase the after burn

@fluid pawn I have given you the choices, I will leave it to you to solve.

Personally as a completely biased long time player of hell let loose, I'd choose both 1 and 2. But thats just me

considering theres 50 people on a full team, 4 of which are recon and live inside the enemy HQ basically and 1 which is commanding the game, theres 45 people that realistically will come across non HQ nodes. Now lets assume that there is the standard chance of someone having a flamethrower based upon the steam achievement percentage (between 0.05 and 0.01%) which gives you no more than 400-2000 people on earth who own the flame thrower, now lets assume that out of the likely less than 7 support players on your team, one happen to be one of those guys with the flamethrower, we are left with one person on a team, with a map size usually in the Kilometers, to find nodes the size of boxes, and get close enough (less than 5 meters) to effectively burn them. This buff will amount to occasions that are so rare, they are worth clipping and uploading as highlights.

I wouldn't have typed any of this out if not for Hyrum

I only know the flamethrower achievement percentage because I happen to be in that 0.01%

Whats also funny is that 14.3% of people have the achievement for dying to a flamethrower, the majority of people who have played this game, have either never seen or never died to one. Which is absolutely hilarious because about the same amount of people have killed 10 vehicles.

The rarest achievment in the game by far, excluding the new ones, is for reaching lvl 10 medic. The 3rd rarest being for killing over 1000 enemies with the flamethrower, followed by 500 enemies.

It is likely that less than 5 people on earth have either of those achievements.

Mines whenever you can, the closer to enemy HQ, the better.

Repair a friendly tank if you happen to be nearby, otherwise probably just run satchel loadout.

Repair stations in places where it's not easy to destroy them, but somewhat close to location where friendly tanks would like to be in.

Forts only in Offensive or sometimes a bit of barbed wire in middle point on Warfare.

You can look for people to group up via #pc-looking-for-unit if you're on PC.
But in any case it'll be the simple logic of just going in a specific server together and then a specific squad together, so, personally, I'd just jump in any community server and look for a squad that's talkative. Ask them all the questions you might have in the second and chances are, they'll give you a sufficient response.

Tanks, no. Possibly structures in the future, looks like the PTE is buffing it to take out nodes, forward structures (garrison?) , and supplies. It does damage to vehicles which will buff in PTE.
