they can be visibly armed, however usually have a sidearm in their waistband
they'll break sight, pull it out, or if they feel trapped they'll just pull it out and engage

I couldn't understand how to install the visual rework mod.

Short stocking animation mod. Currently when collision is detected with a rifle the model compresses to a high ready. This mod would aim to change the collision response during passive aiming only. When collision is detected on doorjams, walls and other objects the rifle would compress with the stock going over the shoulder removing sight picture, but maintaining a horizontal muzzle allowing center screen point shooting. Flow of weapon position would be incremental. As the model clears the obstruction the rifle would come back into a shouldered passive aiming position. A threshold distance would also need to be established for continued movement closer to the object causing collision. Once this distance is met the rifle would transition into a compressed low ready removing the ability to shoot on a horizontal plane. This would make for a major improvement to movement and allow for smoother movements through thresholds, around objects etc. For reference, when I horizontally compress in this manner with a 12.5 inch AR I am able to position the rifle so its muzzle extends about 8 inches from my chest while maintaining safety manipulation and trigger access.

There's a Material being applied by the engine that makes all armor Dark except Prescott's armor. No workaround known atm.
Don't say its the same black texture tho, you just haven't looked close enough then to see all the work that actually has gone into it, it's just a darker version.
