Well it's a complicated situation, people rallied behind VOID when they parted ways with Team17 and admired their adherence to their vision. That's the thing a lot of people are mad about. Very few games take the same kind of risks so it was frustrating to see one of the few that did have to neuter itself. It shouldnt be hard to understand that PC players don't like content they paid for being taken away from them

The problem here is walking that fine line between realism and ridiculousness. RoN already has a super unrealistic weapon lineup for an “overworked and underfunded” swat team in LA. If they want to retain the integrity of the realism they gotta go with things that make sense for the setting. Real law enforcement is legit just ARs, AR adjacent weapons like the HK416, glocks, sigs, and shotguns

I’m a console player so my first experience with RoN has been over the last 3 days. I think the strongest parts of this game are the tight gameplay loop and the customizability of your loadout and SWAT officer. I think if they push harder in the direction of tweaking every detail of your fit and making your weapon look more like what you want, it would be awesome.

Though of course, this would be within reason and what’s realistic. No silly weapon charms or glowing pink camos. Just stuff that makes sense but lets you build your own kit because it’s fun

Standard. I think it’s fair and incredibly fun to play. I’ve played it with 2 other friends and we’ll start playing with a group of 4 soon.

My issues stem with suspect AI behavior being a bit spotty, and the suspects sometimes being able to shoot you seemingly through multiple walls and obstructions very accurately. I get that it’s supposed to be hard, but for example, on 23 megabytes per second, you can be on the second floor balcony behind a pillar, and a guy will shoot you from the third balcony floor while completely away from the balcony, almost by the walls, making him impossible to see

(I have not played with the AI teammates at all. When I play solo I play entirely by myself, so I won’t speak on them until I’ve tried it)

In twisted nerve when you’re going into the cave, there’s a bit where there’s a depression that then slopes back up. That's fair, I actually think the older ones hold up, especially if you hack in dual analog, but I've played them both ways. I think late Gen3 is when it starts to feel more modern. (Nexus/Last Raven) but 4 and onwards are great games as well, I even like gen5 even if it was super polarizing.

The health changes (at a glance) aren't really going to do anything except MAYBE make some suspects take 1 extra hit to limbs with JHP rounds or the like.

SMGs are gonna feel the changes the most, but rifles and shotguns will see basically no TTK change for center mass hits

I turned aim assist off because I don’t like it in PvE games, it feels restrictive and since AI enemies generally move less erratically than players, it’s not hard to line up shots.

Recoil management is the only difficult part of the gunplay because the guns have a lot more kick on full auto compared to most shooters. Obviously this is to encourage single fire which I use most of the time.

I’m hoping that they add full mouse support to ps5 soon so I can give that a try because I think I can be more accurate and look around faster. I also turn off look acceleration so I’m always turning at the same speed no matter what. I hate how acceleration feels with controller sticks.

Accuracy was not changed, reaction times were not changed. Suspect skill was not changed.

I think the thing I dislike the absolute most in terms of enemy AI and reactivity, is how when they’re dazed from taking a gunshot or two, they’ll either immediately snap to aiming at you and start shooting, or they’ll stand upright and then give up. It’s too jerky, it’s hard to discern what they’re doing until they’ve already done it. I think the animations could be cleaned up and be more fluid in the transitions between those things. It’s unrealistic that they behave like that

I would recommend it on Twisted Nerve. I think they’re super useful inside the crackhouses especially with the white phosphor. They’re dark enough that you can’t really see and the flashlight’s cone of vision is too narrow

That’s “too much work”. Even though that’s exactly what they’ve done. I suspect that they have too much tech debt that they maybe plan on fixing at the current moment that they don’t want to have to fix on multiple platforms, which means the console release was prioritized over optimization.

Beanbag shotgun, any low cal pistol with hollows, rotary flash launcher, tasers, good teammates.

Aim for center of mass with the shotgun, aim for legs/groin with pistol. I usually run no helmet w/ Kevlar front & back plates. I also have really good teammates I play with semi regularly.

As a consumer you’re allowed to feel frustration when a product you paid for changes for what you perceive as the worse. This is one of those situations where there was a compromise that needed to be made to bring the game to console. The ratings and censorship rules are different and they needed to adapt. Console players like me who have been looking forward to a game like this are happy that we get to play it at all, but can still sympathize with PC players feeling like they’ve lost something. Ultimately, since you have the freedom to tweak the game as you want and can downgrade to previous versions, it’s a net positive situation because in some way everyone wins something.

If you feel that void is taking the game in a bad direction, just gauge how much you can tolerate and if you don’t like it, don’t stress yourself or give yourself hypertension over something that you’re not enjoying anymore. Play previous versions and mod it to your heart’s content

It’s game and context dependent. I think graphics, bugs, and AI behaviors are things that need to be addressed because they affect the quality of the game regardless of platform.

Things like censorship and mods are more up in the air, and censorship isn’t gonna affect the gameplay or value to price of the game unless you care about that very deeply. Mods can always be updated or remade to fit new versions of the game.

“Mod it however you want” isn’t as easy as you make it seem. Do you have software development experience? Do you understand the obligation you enter when you create a modification and upload it for people to use? Not being hostile but there’s more to it than just “mod the game”.

Yes we have the ability to modify the base game in ways console players are at least currently unable to, but creating the mod is the first step of the problem. The second step is finding a suitable place to host the mods, as Nexus is slowly being corrupted by politics and a battle between video game companies and players over censorship and the right to restore cut content.

PC players play PC to avoid the console BS. RoN is a game I have over 200hrs playing through Early Access. Every update has been slow, but significant and left me positively impressed. This update sets the game back, and removes what made this game so unique. Its now just becoming another mainstream IP without a unique experience.
