One thing I've always kind of had a gripe with in this game is the detachment from what it is, if that makes sense. Some missions in this game feel sort of... Out of place? Like why is LAPD SWAT responding to an oil rig attack or a yacht having a hostage situation. Both of these are Coast Guard problems. Or the border crossing mission. Another disturbing fact relating to cadavers (as Sombody who is currently in the mortuaryial field) mouths tend to hang open postmortem (esp after rigor has set in) so to close them for a funeral you need to either needle inject or sew them shut, sewing the mouth shut normally requires you to have a study hand into only so the inside of the lips which has really hard to do, a needle injecting is quite a lot easier. Basically you are shoving a giant 14 or 15 gauge needle through the bottom of the job bone up through the top of the mouth to keep the jaw closed, normally about four, two near the back molars, and two near the canid teeth of the person, sewing is a lot easier to do on older people who do not have any teeth, fun fact
There’s also two forms of needle injecting, one of them just has a barbed needle that you put in the upper lip through the gums of the top lip kind of where a zyn would go in another on the bottom and then has metal wires that you twist together to kind of torque the jaw and keep it shut, and then there’s the other needle method which I described

Yeah It is really interesting, it takes a certain kind of person though, dealing with death all day can take a toll on the mental health that’s why I kind of separate myself when I’m working. When I’m working on a patient I guess you could call them, my job is to make them look good for the funeral. I don’t think of who they might’ve been. I just do what the family would want them to look like, and move on with my day. And sometimes it takes a lot to actually separate yourself, especially when it’s your hometown and these are people that you’ve seen before like at the grocery store or it’s people that you’ve grown up around just like in the community.

That really all kind of depends, different hospitals certainly have a lot different standards. The local county hospital, thankfully does not harvest any organs if anybody passes under their care, they just don’t have the capacity to do that. But I haven’t really ever heard anything good about the county hospital? Everyone calls at the Band-Aid station. But about 45 minutes away in the big city there is a mercy and a Methodist hospital and the people we get from Methodist tend to be a little more intact than the people from mercy. They’re always sewn back up though if that makes sense, like there’s never gonna be an open person on the embalming table unless it’s necessary

We deal a lot more in my area with older folks who passed peacefully when they’re sleeping most of them aren’t working donors, though, so we do a lot of home visits and then just involving the same day most times so we haven’t really had that many Oregon donor patients yet
