that is a common criticism ppl have for RoN, and it's perfectly understandable. In all else, this is Swat4 successor. BUT, as stated by the game's own premises, it's not a perfect 1:1 succession. The city depicted here is way more violent and the gangs taking over are way less 'respectful' of the Police. As much as many ppl would love a Swat4 modernized (not everyone though, not even the majority, I'd say), I agree with how the game depicts firefights. I don't think it's ideal, though, hence my mods, but I think the lethality, the eagerness to fight to the death and the increased danger are all important parts of the whole package.
If you ever saw how BOPE deals with cartel-ruled favelas, you'll see that the whole 'less-lethal' conversation is a bad joke. The thugs have to fight to the end. They either get killed by police or they get tortured and killed by their own if deemed 'a coward' by them.

I agree with what you said, I have no problem in taking damage, I think that's just part of the process sometimes, sometimes necessary sometimes for you to look back on and regret it (theoretically, for Judge and D-Platoon atleast). What I do have a problem with is how the ranking system somewhat ruins it for players, chasing that perfect non-lethal run (un-modded vanilla game)

Its a huge pot I am not going to stir, but the game should feature more interactive or narrative reactions to less-lethal or lethal. A rank at the end of the mission is feels really disconnected when compared to the weight carried by the narrative of the mission combined with how you handle the level.

Better to just ignore them and concentrate on how you'd realistically approach each situation and how you perform on your own premises. I think that's where the game shines, especially because it 'dares' to depict combat realistically

if you plan to actually buy the game and clear it in 2 hours just to refund then prolly do fine to watch a vid or two to know the map, then just go in w any 5.56 on ap and play canted w a laser sight but mcx/f90 is likely best for it, if you wanna min max check out stat sheet first then run .300 blk jhp canted for every map aside for the few that has max armor

best ai teammate loadout for ironman is subjective if you are going for s rank in that too then its whatever works for you, if you are fine with high tempo then again 5.56 ap works for every map, if you want to min max you need to know when .300 jhp can pen then run it

Is a PvP game mode being worked on as of now? I think that RoN would very much fit a PvP gamemode similar to what R6 Siege used to be but excluding the operator abilities, of course. This game has crazy PvP potential
