That's the point of a boycott, which is happening. They did need to make the necessary changes for a console launch. They did not need to censor the existing version on for the sake of crossplay. Which we don't need.

There's an easy solution that would literally be an opt-in Beta through the Steam client to download the assets themselves, because it's literally just a .pak file away for them to implement it if they don't want to have the default client have a toggle. You just put the Beta Participation option to be "uncensored" and it downloads/replaces the censored models with the originals.

You guys are trying to make it sound like this is unfeasible or unrealistic, and more complicated than it is, when it's actually very simple.

If there's no sanctity in the content you purchase, the precedent is further hammered in that what you pay for is irrelevant, because the content you paid for can be changed at a moment's notice. Today it's small things that contributed to the atmosphere and theme of the game. What is it tomorrow? Who can say. Today, it's Ready Or Not. Tomorrow? Can you trust the content of the games you pay for? Can you trust that you'll get what you pay for and what you pay for will remain what you paid for?

Whether you like the game or not, retroactively changing or removing content from a paid experience that has already been paid for is a slippery slope that no one should support. Today, it's small things. Things you THINK are insignificant, but that are actually part of the whole that make up the thematic and atmosphere. And it isn't just here, it's in every game. The post-launch and legacy erosion of tone, atmosphere, content, etc. Maybe think about that. Or don't. Make excuses, or just ignore it. It'll make for worse games and experiences in the future, but hey, kicking the can down the road is easy. Might as well go with that.

I'm seeing "corrections" that aren't actually corrections. For example, describing model swaps as run time overrides when they're actually asset overrides.

Also talking about the files existing in the game being a problem, while referencing the hot coffee mod -- which gets conflated and oversimplified, yet there's references to how the context of how the nudity is presented within the game. The hot coffee mod is an outlier because it was specific mechanics and a system itself versus an asset/model being in the game files.

What he means about SMGs is specifically because of a thing related to arm debuffs.

It's a whole thing. Basically, after you get injured, SMGs get like 6x the recoil when compared to rifles which barely change when injured.

It's a mistake in the balancing because they never separated the debuff effects for different weapon classes.
The debuff adds flat recoil values, instead of percentages, so it unfairly affects SMGs.
(even though they did for LMGs, which aren't usable by players at the moment)

1. They could easily get around the asset swaps by including an opt-in Beta for the uncensored models in Steam, which would literally be an asset override instead of a runtime override (as previously incorrectly identified), and would allow for crossplay, as it already allows different PC players with differing assets to play together anyways.

2. The inclusion of these models in the base files themselves isn't comparable to the inclusion of the Hot Coffee assets for GTA: SA -- the conflation of the two is illogical. The models themselves likely could be included in the base files for any build, it's just VOID's legal team probably aren't good enough at reading through the ESRB's policies or pushing back.

3. The censorship of the content itself does impact the immersion of the game, and there is a difference between an allusion to something horrific and the actual evidence of it. A used condom next to an ODing child strikes a much more horrific image to the player than a sleeping child in crack house.

4. The people who are upset about the censorship don't care that you don't think it's a big deal. Good for you. Insulting people for voicing their complaints, name-calling, inferring they're perverts, etc. is emotional invalidation or minimization and makes you a stinky poopoo face.

Their stated reasoning before was that they couldn't have two different builds of the game -- you don't need two entirely different builds of the game to implement a Beta feature to download models and asset override. Many games with large texture files have a beta opt-in to download the high-resolution textures, which just add on to the build itself as a standalone file download. The same thing would apply for the model download.

To be clear, we don't know if it was the ESRB, wasn't, or was them in combination with others. Void has stated that it was more than just one agency/country, so we don't know, and I don't think Void will ever confirm.

Ratings aren't fair, that's just how it is. GTA 5 (even though it is fucked up in a lot of ways) is a cartoony game at the end of the day. It's not Tom and Jerry, but it is cartoonish violence. Other games are horror or war-- you fight zombies or demons-- you don't see the same level or gore or it doesn't explore the same themes.

RoNs issue at the end of the day is that it is a realistic law enforcement game. If it was just a generic FPS but with police skins then it wouldn't be an issue. If it had its themes but wasn't as violent, maybe it would be fine (probably not), but it has all of those.

I think it probably got scrapped or never happened honestly.

At this stage, they'd need the models, the rig, (or they can use the same ones as the civilian ones, but I dunno if that'd work well), they'd have to remodel all of the cosmetics they made to fit a female rig, and then also do voicework.
Then also do the animations.

They're already pretty much done with all their operator oriented stuff, so i doubt there going there with this.

They WILL report bodies, make arrests, and secure guns automatically, so you can't rely on that.
