well i finished relapse on my first try and I didn't even know there was gonna be bombs
randomly noticed the second one pretty deep into the level, went OH SHIT and started to defuse it, and right as i was done TOC goes "the bomb timer is running out", so i ran back to the first wing frantically and got really lucky with spotting the first one before it blew up. I'm pretty sure i defused it like 5 seconds before it happened

much better trained than your average beat cop, sure. probably nowhere near as highly trained as HRT members, for example
most of the operations that would be handled by federal teams (i;e Coyote, Port and probably a few I'm forgetting) are explained as being large scale operations where you are called to assist
so they are being done by those teams, but your little section is just part of a big takedown

they know the area and you dont, also narrow spaces are death traps for any assaulting force

I live in a decently populated city, we have one but that's because we're a major port.
that's the detectives isn't it? they'd be the ones building the case against those guys, but when it was time to round em up and arrest them and search the premises, it'd be swat doing that with the detectives coming in after the place is cleared and secure

i watched a couple videos where this actual real life swat team commander plays ready or not and comments, he says there has never been a time he or anyone on his team fired in full auto so far but he'd like that option to be there anyway

full auto is kinda antiquated as a concept, the m16 hasnt had that since like the m16a3

i like full auto versus fast moving targets, but more often i just use semi 'cause i'm trying to conserve ammo
I find that I can track moving targets pretty easily on 1300 DPS
there arent any targets moving fast enough to warrant that in this game tbh

neon and mindjot are much easier with auto SMGs because you can comfortably land a few on armored enemies and stop to have them surrendered and the time to decide if they will do so or not

in my only run so far no one even considered that
on my experience carriers was much harder for getting enemies surrendered than neon

The ballistic mask in-game doesn't specifically add some formerly missing face protection, it just improves the overall protection of your head.

yeah the frontal plate of your helmet is very forgiving actually
a shot gotta land on your jaw from below or your nose to count, forehead usually counts as a helmet ricochet/plate destroyed
You just have a single "head" hitbox, doesn't account for face vs helmet.

No suspects have functional head protection, not even the helmeted Mindjot dudes.
Something just happened with the way headshot damage is calculated recently so a lot of headshots are putting suspects below the incapping health threshold without killing them entirely.

i expected the hitbox system to be more complex since killing enemies/yourself or not is a big mechanic in gameplay
I dunno, though I think VOID's done some kinda misguided realism-first design decisions in the past and present, I think the ability for AI enemies to one-shot the player has always kind of been a universal no-no in these sorts of games.
One shotting can ruin the fun honestly

The AI can be incredibly stupid and oblivious to your presence but at other times they have absolute hawk eyes
Ai overhaul mod really helps me
Like on Valley of the Dolls when you're on the top floor, the top of your head appears through the window for a guy down at the stage area when his back is turned towards you
and starts hailing you with lead
other times you can just stand right next to an enemy while they're taking cover and they don't notice you at all
It just feel like distance and obscurity is not a factor for detection
How careful are you at missions?
Depends on how I'm feeling and what I'm running
but I often see it that enemies who have their backs towards me suddenly turn around in shock even though I'm in a different room and just walking
There’s one suspect who’s had his back against me. I had like the element of surprise and thought I can take him down. Nope, even pumping a couple bullets, he still took me down

The most updated one is called normal AI and max suspects 1.0 but it doesn’t seem to work. I’m still facing regular number of suspects

What are the conditions for a suspect surrendering after being shot but not incapacitated or killed? Seems entirely random to me, some suspects will surrender almost immediately after getting shot, the majority seem determined to fight if they're already shooting.
tbh sometimes i just go to gas station, use a shotgun and blow people's head off for fun

For me, sometimes suspects just straight up surrender when the SWAT are there for me lol
It is proximity based so once they are disarmed you have to get close enough. Also look at the traits of your officers. Some add bonuses to surrender upon yells - shot with none lethal weapons - number of officers.

he's usually locked up in the FISA office near the main warehouse, and pretty close to spawn. You can breach in basically a straight line by going through the bathroom area in the opening building (literally in front of you when you spawn), then reaching the warehouse area. You'll need to move and shoot a bit since guys up top near the upper office stairs will shoot you, on top of people outside and in the warehouse building

I think it coulda been good to have equipment unlock through progression of the campaign, but everything unlocked for a freeplay mode
I think locking stuff that isn't purely cosmetic behind campaign progression is a bit arbitrary.
In the old alphas not only did you have an actual weight sytem outside of armor type, but you had a points system that limited what equipment you could take, how you customised it (maybe depending on the mission? Unsure)
Locking weapons behind something in a pve single player game would be asinine
The variety of weapons just lets you experiment and that's ok
I don't agree with that either, just because the game is "PVE single player" doesn't mean it wouldn't be cool to have your efforts acknowledged.
A perfect example of a weapon unlock that i think would make sense is the M14 in that display case to go with the 90's gear
Either that or as a weapon skin for a marksman rifle in the future
Most weapons are functionally identical within their own type (carbines, SMGS etc)
There's nothing less inspiring to have to unlock nearly identical weapons.
Beating the game under difficult circumstances should give the M14 though that I can agree with but even then it's a functionally unwieldy weapon

you'll never have info like that afaik, if you open your tablet and check the mission briefing, you can read up on the suspects; make your loadout choices based on that

of course that's like a one-time experience. But it was cool
I honestly think theres a lot missing from the briefings, it would be nice for it to speculate if a suspect is heavily armed or not, especially when theres security footage and whitness reports. Another thing is actually mentioned the maps you're provided. it never mentions how they could possibly be outdated so if someone just takes them at face value they will be very confused

Updates are free, DLC costs money unless you already bought the supporter edition in which case you get them free.
Killed swat never come back, but you might get someone else with the same trait. Swat in therapy need to stay in therapy untill the turn count goes to zero (visible next to their picture)

Is it just me or Voll is employing John Wick? We've been trying to S rank the map, and eight consecutive times we get one hit killed by a suspect on the first floor, both within the same second when we enter together and within the same area if we enter separately

from side building work your way to the open middle and use wedges on the doors leading to the hanger
once all doors are wedged go in from the right side and clear your way to the left side going in clockwise motion
Make absolutely sure the outside is clear before you enter the warehouse

unfortunately not. this is where programming still is limited i think. in real world scenarios you would limit the use of flashlights and lasers to avoid giving away intel. But in the game it doesnt seem to matter
it's more effective to leave the flashlight on since it makes the hostiles shoot more inaccurate

from my lack of understanding of game dev. the only way logical to me to create a sensor for a flashlight in an ai "field of view" would be by using a collision box with code stating that if the flashlight is on within the proximity of that box the ai responds to it. but this would mean that ai will also aggro through walls

yeah, and another way is to tie it to the vector (from what i understand) but then it'll aggro if all it sees is like, a half-meter stretch of the imaginary line going from your gun to the dot

i think what most games do for those things is they have some sort of "visibility" parameter, and turning your flashlight on raises it to the max immediately
but this game obviously doesn't have anything like that, your visibility is literally binary. so that wouldn't work

Not like eft. You have 160 hp and every damage to you is capped to 70, so you can eat atleast 2 bullet to bare torso and still alive.
Destroyed body part apply penalty, for leg it's walk speed, for arms is increased recoil, red head give you debuff that any further damage to you will make vision blurry/distorted.
