I think mouse steering is actually better than the controller but the problem is you have to control the gas and brake with buttons and I hate it cuz it applies either too less or too much

I think that all comes down to getting used to it and having good settings. My brake intensity is the highest, but I make use of the retarder a lot or just let go off the gas to let the engine brake do it's thing. Or the simple tap-braking with the S key.
